Spoilers for The Witcher Season 3 Episodes 5 and 6.

Based on the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski and the game series "The Witcher" from CD Projekt Red

Showrunner and Lead Writer: Lauren Schmidt Hissrich

Episode 5 - The Art Of The Illusion

Written by Clare Higgins

Directed by Loni Peristere

Synopsis: With the banquet over, Geralt and Yennefer discuss the night's events from the bathtub, the bed, from beneath the sheets and in the morning after.

Despite his discomfort at the surroundings and the company, Yennefer and Geralt step out arm-in-arm and dressed-to-kill at a lavish ball. But all is not as it appears during the evening of gossip, spiked drinks, revelry and revelation. Geralt tries very hard to socialise and avoid the revelling sorcerers. His patience is pushed by Dijkstra, Phillipa and Stregabour during the evening and Yennefer has to remind him they need to lie low in order to expose Stregobor as the dark mage during the conclave the following day.

However, their plans change when Yennefer is alerted by Istredd and Triss about Stregobor's possession of the Book of Monoliths. Geralt and Istredd pretend a fight to cover for Yennefer as she breaks into Stregobor's study where they discover the book, as well as apparent evidence of kidnapping half-elven students.

Stregobor is arrested in his study by Tissaia, Vilgefortz and Artorius, and the banquet is deemed a diplomatic success. Once Yennefer and Geralt put all the pieces of the night together, however, they realise the mastermind behind Rience's actions and the kidnappings is Vilgefortz who only framed Stregobor.

Scouting the halls to find Vilgefortz, Geralt is distracted by sounds of a distant fight and is ambushed at knife-point by Dijkstra, as he enacts his plan to purge the Brotherhood of Sorcerers.

Episode 6 - Everyone has a plan 'Til They Get Punched In The Face

Written by Javier Grillo-Marxuach

Directed again by Loni Peristere

Synopsis: With Geralt taken prisoner, bloodshed and betrayal, rocks Aretuza, as the Redanian soldiers led by Dijkstra and Philippa, along with several Northern mages, strike a coup to arrest mages led by Vilgefortz who collaborated with Nilfgaard.

Not believing the accusations levelled at her lover, Tissaia frees the apprehended mages and Vilgefortz, where he reveals his conniving, plotting and betrayal to Tissaia as he lets in an invading force of elven Scoia'tael led by Cahir and Queen Francesca to reclaim Aretuza. The hunt for Ciri comes to a head as Vilgefortz, the elves, and the Redanians all seek to find Ciri for their own purposes.

A bloody battle erupts between the league of Nilfgaardian and Scoia'tael forces and the Northern mages, as many are killed on both sides including Filavandrel and Artorius. Elsewhere, Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer are briefly reunited trying to get Ciri to safety. But after surviving an attack by Rience who is killed and decapitated by Geralt’s sword, Yennefer must go to help her Aretuzian brothers and sisters. Yennifer joins her weakened mentor Tissaia at the battle, after she has cast a devastating spell of last resort leaving Aretuza ruined. While the last few mages are saved by Stregobor who sacrifices himself using fire magic to stop the remaining forces from finishing them off .

Meanwhile Geralt and Ciri are confronted by Cahir, who has an epiphany realising he has been used and lied to for long enough, asking for forgiveness from Ciri he pledges to defend her as he fights off Scoia'tael hunting Ciri and Geralt.

As they both make their way to the shore to escape by boat something feels wrong and Geralt commands Ciri to run. She runs back towards Aretuza and the tower of Tor Lara, as Vilgefortz confronts Geralt. The dark mage shows expert combat prowess and defeats Geralt allowing him to pursue Ciri. Half-dead and bleeding out, a lucky Geralt is found by Triss who takes him to Brokilon.

At Tor Lara just before Vilgefortz can capture her, Ciri taps into the power of the monolith contained in the tower, unleashing a devastating explosion which destroys the tower. Nothing on the Continent will ever be the same again.

[00:03:12] Good stuff!

[00:03:13] Let's get into our discussion of Episode 5, The Art of the Illusion.

[00:03:17] Indeed!

[00:03:18] Derek, what are some of the episode details?

[00:03:21] Well, once again, the show is based on the book series by Andridge Subkowski and the Game series from CD Projekt Red.

[00:03:26] The show winner for the show for the entire series in creator of this version on Netflix is Lauren Schmitt's.

[00:03:32] His rich, this episode was directed by Lonnie Perister at his directed episodes of Screen Queen's.

[00:03:37] Nine episodes of American Horror Story and interestingly,

[00:03:41] got his start as a visual effects supervisor on Buffy Angel Firefly and coming up

[00:03:46] is directing Episode of Hedge of the Dragons Season 2 at all.

[00:03:49] Oh, very, very interesting both in terms of Screen Queen's American Horror Story and Buffy Angel and Firefly.

[00:03:57] Wow, yes!

[00:03:58] Some fab shows that I've loved watching throughout the ages, do I say it?

[00:04:05] Yes, to keep with the epicness that is the Witcher.

[00:04:10] And I'd certainly be interested to see what he comes up with House of the Dragons Season 2.

[00:04:16] Yeah.

[00:04:17] The episode that he looks after there.

[00:04:19] Absolutely, it would be very interesting to see that's a great first season.

[00:04:21] Looking forward to the second season of that whenever the strike finishes and the close-off and finish off

[00:04:25] that show will be great to see them all back.

[00:04:28] Absolutely.

[00:04:29] I will admit, of course, as you can see, Lonnie has been in the industry a very long time.

[00:04:33] I may have chosen all the things that we might like at his filmography.

[00:04:38] So he may have done some other stuff that we haven't seen as well, John.

[00:04:41] Absolutely, but I mean, what else are you going to choose?

[00:04:44] Exactly.

[00:04:45] Exactly.

[00:04:46] I can't list off his whole IMTBS, but...

[00:04:47] Exactly.

[00:04:48] So pick the ones that you know about, exactly.

[00:04:51] Exactly.

[00:04:52] This episode was written by Claire Higgins.

[00:04:54] She's been on the right team since season 2 of the show.

[00:04:57] Of course, be back for season 4 of the show as well.

[00:04:59] And interestingly, Claire was also a writer on the umbrella academy, which we also cover here in TV podcast.

[00:05:04] Yeah, yeah.

[00:05:05] So yeah.

[00:05:06] And of course, with Lauren Schmidt, his rich involved in umbrella academy as well.

[00:05:09] Yeah.

[00:05:10] No doubt there was a little sort of eyeing up the talent.

[00:05:12] Absolutely.

[00:05:13] Absolutely.

[00:05:14] Good stuff, John.

[00:05:15] Do you want to tell us what that gave us with your synopsis of season 3 episode 5 of The Witcher?

[00:05:19] The art of the illusion.

[00:05:21] Sure.

[00:05:22] With the banquet over, Geralt and Yennefer discussed the night events from the bathtub,

[00:05:26] the bed from beneath the sheets and in the morning after the spices discomfort

[00:05:31] at the surroundings and the company, Yennefer and Geralt step out to arm and arm and dress

[00:05:36] to kill at a lavish ball.

[00:05:38] But all is not as it appears during the evening of gossip, spike drinks, revelry and revelation.

[00:05:44] Geralt tries very hard to socialise and avoid the reveling sorcerers.

[00:05:50] His patience is pushed by a distra, filiper and straggable during the evening.

[00:05:55] And Yennefer has to remind him they need to lie low in order to expose straggable as the dark

[00:06:00] maids during the conclay of the following day.

[00:06:03] However, their plans change when Yennefer is alerted by a stringent trist about straggable's

[00:06:08] possession of the book of Monoliths.

[00:06:11] Geralt and Yennefer pretend to fight to cover the Yennefer as she breaks into straggable's

[00:06:16] study, where they discover the book as well as apparent evidence of kidnapping half-elven students.

[00:06:22] Straggable is arrested in his study by Tasear, Filter Faults and Atoris,

[00:06:27] and the banquet is deemed a diplomatic success.

[00:06:30] Once Yennefer and Geralt put all the pieces of the night together, however, they realise

[00:06:35] the mass demand behind Rians' actions and the kidnappings is Vill Geforts, who only frames

[00:06:41] straggable.

[00:06:42] Scouting the halls to find Vill Geforts, Geralt is distracted by sounds of a distant fight

[00:06:47] and is ambushed at knife point by Dexter as he in X's plan to purge the brawl ahead

[00:06:53] of sorcerers.

[00:06:54] Very good, big episode.

[00:06:56] This was the cliffhanger that they left part one on a bit of Moldegab.

[00:06:59] Yes.

[00:07:00] I have to say, you know, strill off the bat here absolutely loved episode five.

[00:07:07] And then when episode six came out, these two for me are just thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed.

[00:07:13] Absolutely.

[00:07:14] You know what?

[00:07:15] Really, really thought they were some of the best witcher episodes that we've had.

[00:07:19] Certainly this season.

[00:07:21] I know what, this might be one of my favorite shows.

[00:07:23] And our favorite episodes of TV this year.

[00:07:26] I absolutely loved the structure of it.

[00:07:29] It was put together and the story that was unfolding.

[00:07:31] I thought it was really, really interesting.

[00:07:33] I think you've been having in your synopsis there.

[00:07:36] The nice of revelry and revelation just works so well for this type of story.

[00:07:42] You see that before?

[00:07:43] In the witcher, I think we saw that early on in season one,

[00:07:46] this idea of telling things as of a order and as of time.

[00:07:50] That was the whole of season one, did it that way?

[00:07:52] This all in one episode in here in episode five.

[00:07:55] I think worked really, really well where you guess the kind of differing perspectives that will be

[00:07:59] bits added on to each moment, each time we flash back to it,

[00:08:02] I thought that was really cool.

[00:08:03] So yeah, definitely loved this episode.

[00:08:05] Great stuff.

[00:08:06] What we normally do is pick out a big moment from the episode to talk about.

[00:08:10] I think I'll hand it over to you first because I think you've got basically the big moment from the episode.

[00:08:16] Which is yes, it is.

[00:08:18] I've got it's a little well let's just say,

[00:08:21] I have a point A big moment and a point B big moment.

[00:08:26] Okay point A is we get Geralt in the bathtub.

[00:08:29] Not seeing Geralt in the bathtub since season one.

[00:08:33] And this time he is joined, I think I don't think there was anything in season two.

[00:08:37] I think I'm not too sure.

[00:08:39] I might be wrong.

[00:08:41] But it was good to see Geralt in the bathtub.

[00:08:44] Yeah.

[00:08:45] Join by Janitha.

[00:08:46] Okay.

[00:08:47] So it does lead me onto my point B, which is not a sexy as these two living out there post

[00:08:55] and ball sort of love affair of which is another big thing because we do have Geralt saying I love you too.

[00:09:02] Yes, we do.

[00:09:03] And this is the reason why all their post ball post banquet revelry as they discuss the

[00:09:13] the machinations of the evening is from the bathtub to under the bed covers to the morning

[00:09:20] after all of all of this in a very intimate way, sort of the trust, the love, the respect, all coming out between these two

[00:09:29] as they discuss is really important thing which is trying to expose a straggable as this dark

[00:09:39] stage.

[00:09:40] But it's to the bigger point of I think the structure of this episode was really good.

[00:09:46] It just happened.

[00:09:48] It peeled back the layers of the onion, you know revealing and reliving the ball from the different perspectives or the different conversations

[00:09:59] throughout that night.

[00:10:01] And it's always returning at different intervals to Jennifer and Geralt.

[00:10:08] Going about their shenanigans, but also discussing the different things that they heard and what they meant.

[00:10:15] And I just love how this unfolded as you know to begin with we almost just really see Geralt being totally sort of clam to up.

[00:10:24] And not wanting to be the asshole sort of trying desperately to be polite to dextra, you know, finding it very hard to be polite to straggable in how he's dealing with a staff member.

[00:10:39] But you know a little bit of information and then we go back to the ball from a different perspective where we see more and more of the conversations

[00:10:50] at playing out such as between Geralt and Philica.

[00:10:54] Yeah, I love that really, I love that it's all based around the musical touch as the show does so well.

[00:11:02] Based around the musical touch of the house band singing all is not as it seems.

[00:11:07] As we learn more and more about what's going on between each of these individuals that have come to the party with their own plan.

[00:11:13] After the end of episode four with everybody standing outside the door saying are you ready and then giving their responses to their relative partner as we went in.

[00:11:22] The separate parts of the ball also starts with Jennifer and Geralt outside going are you ready exactly as we have to remember the last episode but this time we now see it all developed what's been going on with each of those groups of people and you could easily have done.

[00:11:39] Each of the individual scenes separately from each other but this idea of moving through the party through Geralt and Jens eyes and as they talk to each other separately adding pieces to the story that they know.

[00:11:51] To start with figuring it out to the point where they realize you know.

[00:11:57] The end of all of this with straggable effectively being arrested is not the right out come here but it's not as it seems exactly and it.

[00:12:09] It's just really good because you know in the first instance we just have a little touch of Geralt with filler per and then the next time we come back to it you know we see that filler and Geralt really are discussing sides and loyalties and.

[00:12:24] The first iteration of it it's a conversation with Vill de Fort in the balcony where it just seems to be Vill de Fort pointing out the end of it is.

[00:12:35] Sort of meeting her first love history down below but then when it comes to the final iteration of it there's much more.

[00:12:45] Dark talk from Vill de Fort's talking about the battle to come even though this con clay is not supposed to.

[00:12:53] Resulting that it's supposed to bring peace and he was one of the main supporters of bringing this con clay together along with to say they're both supporters of the end bringing the con clay together and the whole purpose of the con clay is to stop.

[00:13:05] Battle in the north and bring all of the majors back together under the brotherhood so this moment from him of of him saying you know get ready for the battle to come and also echoing.

[00:13:16] The opposite conversation that we saw from Dexter you know about Geralt choosing a side he needs to choose a side because a battle is coming you know.

[00:13:25] This is what starts to eat away a Geralt when everybody's trying to tell him as they have for centuries at this stage you need to choose a side you can't stand.

[00:13:34] Going through humanity are going through the continent without picking aside just taking jobs and fighting off monsters you need to pick aside because you're a very powerful.

[00:13:45] Creature I guess in the continent but he starts to suspect there's something more in the meaning of that as story.

[00:13:52] It's just really well done. It's light with the dance the melange and you know you see it the first this relation were you know there's flirting going on politics is being discussed and so on and then you have this fight between Geralt and Estrid.

[00:14:09] But then by the next this relation you realize the fight is a rose between Geralt and an Estrid in order to buy time for Jennifer to break into Streggle or study into his rooms.

[00:14:24] And that is all coming from again further restoration where you realize that that conversation that Estrid and Jennifer having the build before point out as being well you never forget your first true love.

[00:14:39] Isn't anything to do about their past relationships?

[00:14:42] It's Estrid informing Jennifer and bringing her to Triss to tell them that Streggle also has the book of Monolith and as I say lead on with this fight so it's just it's no this whole episode just drips with intrigue that unfolds over each iteration of this walk through of the ball and the feast prior to this concave revealing.

[00:15:10] The machinations and as things come together in Streggle's study as he's being accused of being the dark mage behind reals.

[00:15:23] So I just had to say that is list of all the half-elven half humans.

[00:15:29] Yes exactly have gone missing which we saw the Geralt came across with the experiments being done on them in order to try and corrupt.

[00:15:39] So she can be influenced.

[00:15:41] Yeah, I can fairness Streggle doesn't defend very well here.

[00:15:45] He's like he can say that's when he got accused of hating half-blots as he's written up on his list.

[00:15:52] He kind of goes, yeah, but he knows I do anyway so but that's nothing new.

[00:15:56] Why are you accusing me of it?

[00:15:57] But not like but I didn't do it.

[00:16:00] It's kind of it doesn't really justify himself well enough that people would stop accusing him.

[00:16:04] They don't really give me an opportunity to do it.

[00:16:06] And to me it's kind of Streggle's responses more kind of it's just the hopping and poofing.

[00:16:12] It's like this is preposterous.

[00:16:14] What are you talking about? You have known the void of the crisis.

[00:16:19] Yeah, I just like elves and their kind and effectively kind of half-blots.

[00:16:25] That's new secret so it's just a list of names on paper.

[00:16:34] What have you got that puts me at that place?

[00:16:38] Doing the actual kidnapping.

[00:16:40] I find that really, yeah, it's more he feels secure enough in his high position in the brotherhood at our twoser that he just feels like this is all blister and its preposterous.

[00:16:54] Yeah, things will work out but actually I think towards the end he just realized maybe it's more than just simply his

[00:17:03] his known beliefs around half-blots.

[00:17:06] Exactly.

[00:17:07] And so really good.

[00:17:09] The other thing here is we also see Lydia, the major of new voice and with the illusion covering her destroy jaw here as well which also then adds to more of the discussion and reveal that they may both the end and Garros have got it wrong about Streggle because she is wearing a piece of jewelry

[00:17:32] that has the same stones as to say is like a friendship bracelet that the builder force had provided.

[00:17:40] Yeah, so I, yeah, as I say this to me was just fantastic how I played out really it kept me absolutely glued and it, as I say, just really dripped with intrigue and how it unfolded over the course of the episode.

[00:17:55] Exactly.

[00:17:56] Absolutely great stuff from my side.

[00:17:59] Yeah, really really enjoyable scenes.

[00:18:01] I know you mentioned the bath, great to see a great to see the bath scene as well.

[00:18:05] I would enjoy that I love the young Carl Zeish almost to the audience.

[00:18:09] It's been a long time since we've had to do the bath.

[00:18:11] So they know what the audience want but I will say the ball itself everybody looked fantastic.

[00:18:18] The costumes for every character were so beautiful everybody stood out so well.

[00:18:23] There was a real moment of also luxury in these scenes.

[00:18:27] It just really felt like exactly what it's trying to get across this luxurious experience of all the majors coming together to celebrate and start a potential conclave.

[00:18:37] But what's going on behind the scenes as you say was great.

[00:18:40] I love the distracting face between extras and Geralt even though the first time you see it, you go well that's not possible.

[00:18:50] It's not possible.

[00:18:51] It's no way these two would be fighting over Yenne for that seems really odd.

[00:18:55] Yeah, okay, the extra could be for a boy friend.

[00:18:58] Geralt, current boyfriend, there has to be something else behind you and then I love how it plays out with the potentially drunken other major in the background actually being an additional distraction for the plan that they've enacted.

[00:19:12] That was really good as well.

[00:19:13] Yeah, great for it here.

[00:19:14] Really well written episode and really intriguing episode kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

[00:19:19] But my point, until the course lead from that because really the whole episode is that discussion but my point leads from that which is the final revelation as they piece everything together themselves and realize even after effectively imprisoning

[00:19:36] straggable for an accusing him of what he's done and finding everything that they found to indicate that it's him.

[00:19:43] They realize actually, oh, hi on a second, it's VildiForce. He's the one behind it all.

[00:19:48] The first indication for this for me was in the accusation for straggable.

[00:19:54] The two people that stand up and say he needs to be removed as head of the organization that two people that say that are to sign and VildiForce and I'm just kind of going, oh, maybe there's something here.

[00:20:03] Maybe they've just planted all the evidence to get rid of them there.

[00:20:06] So I was suspecting to say a more than VildiForce in some sense.

[00:20:10] It's kind of going, oh, the twist here that effectively ends closest ally could be the leader here.

[00:20:17] But we knew the person that was in the lead was male and there was a female with a weird voice.

[00:20:22] So bringing back Lydia here and showing that potentially she's the other person that's involved.

[00:20:27] We'd heard that before in the early half of the season.

[00:20:31] But bring back that connection between the jewelry that Lydia is wearing and the jewelry that VildiForce has given to to say both being from the same location.

[00:20:42] I'm going to be found in one location then hang on a second, maybe we've accused the wrong person here.

[00:20:48] So I love that even though you went through the whole story gathering all the information together and got to the point of bringing in straggable or who is a real like.

[00:20:56] He's a real panto villain at times.

[00:20:59] You want to just say watch a behind you when he comes on screen a lot of the time.

[00:21:03] So when he's captured, you kind of go, they're definitely right.

[00:21:06] Finally, they've got to the bottom of it.

[00:21:08] Whereas then a twist again, we have another final twist here where it turns out to be VildiForce being the real polymer master behind us.

[00:21:16] Yeah, I mean, I really really enjoyed this and I think in particular it was the final iteration with Garros and VildiForce up on the.

[00:21:26] So the balcony around was the dancing and the feasting was taking place.

[00:21:31] Yeah, again a bit like with Dexter you know, we're at a pre-conclave feast and celebration for hopefully finding peace yet.

[00:21:44] VildiForce like with Dexter talks about, as you say, Geralt joining a site and I love how VildiForce is using will wear the same.

[00:21:54] You know, we I was also an orphan.

[00:21:58] Or this kind of stuff and Geralt's just kind of like doing his usual things just really taking everything with a huge mountain of socks like he did with Dexter.

[00:22:12] But the other thing then that comes back for them to realize it's VildiForce is he talks of that painting which is of the first landing.

[00:22:21] And that effectively established the brotherhood soon after and that was where Jens was taken by the dark portal and attacked by the illusion of Geralt.

[00:22:32] Yeah, so I'm right for that's where the stones for the jewelry kit from as well.

[00:22:36] Yes exactly. So it's it's I just loved that because I felt we got a real meaty amount of time with VildiForce here and I thought that was really important and I think it being with Geralt as well.

[00:22:50] Because you could see he's trying to sort of you know smooth, short Geralt here and it ultimately doesn't work in that way.

[00:23:03] Yes.

[00:23:04] But it was a really good scene to see him sort of trying to be this puppet master.

[00:23:10] I'm still trying to enact and get things moving in a way that he wants.

[00:23:17] So this was really really good and yes, the fact that then they realize it's VildiForce but by this stage it's the following morning.

[00:23:28] As they go to try and find him then Dexter has already enacted his plan as he thinks it's going to play out by striking a coup on the brotherhood and R2s.

[00:23:42] Yes, and ultimately that's where we leave it. So it's really good sort of ending to finish with those first five episodes.

[00:23:49] Well with the little anxious weight now for the 28th of July.

[00:23:54] Yeah, at least we didn't have to have that weight. Exactly.

[00:23:57] So we can go straight into it.

[00:23:59] Our next episode.

[00:24:00] You know, about this episode you want to talk about John and I think else do you want to call it?

[00:24:04] About the episode?

[00:24:05] Yeah, the only note I've got is just the wine was laced with an afterdise.

[00:24:09] So whether that accounts for any of the shenanigans happening between Geralt and Yennefer.

[00:24:16] So the Yennefer was drinking it, but Geralt I think had one until he was warned by Phil for that there was an afterdise.

[00:24:23] And then he immediately put it down.

[00:24:26] So and I wouldn't try the food either because that's just an illusion.

[00:24:30] Exactly.

[00:24:31] So I think I think Geralt's eye love you was absolutely genuinely.

[00:24:36] Absolutely.

[00:24:37] And of course the kiss in front of everyone they finally step out together for the first time.

[00:24:41] So I think it was you know a good good idea.

[00:24:46] Whoever it was there to put the afterdise into the wine.

[00:24:52] Absolutely.

[00:24:53] And he notes from yourself, Derek?

[00:24:55] I just love the kind of running theme the phrase that said of in love with the poison that kills you.

[00:25:03] It comes from Philiper about to say that she's in love with the poison that kills you.

[00:25:09] And this is another thing that forms into that reasoning as to the fact that it's a villager force that could be controlling to sire.

[00:25:18] I just love that phrase that was really nice.

[00:25:21] I also liked the fact that you know,

[00:25:24] Philiper and to sire's relationship and friendship and how that sour is also kind of what was gradually brought out in this episode.

[00:25:34] And also with episode six as well around her.

[00:25:38] Not joining the brotherhood at the big battle of Salkham.

[00:25:44] Exactly. Yeah, that was really cool.

[00:25:47] The little point speaking of Philiper.

[00:25:49] An interesting one here. She apologizes to Geralt for the death of fan and conjugal.

[00:25:56] And the reaction from Geralt she realizes or hang on a second you didn't even know they were dead.

[00:26:01] Yeah.

[00:26:02] Really like that moment between the two of them that he's kind of going on a hang on a second head did I get them killed almost as you see it even though you know he's a bit on a motive is a his old Geralt.

[00:26:13] So you can't exactly tell what his reaction is but I'm sure that will get under a skin a bit.

[00:26:18] Yeah, I must say I really enjoyed Dexter and Philiper in this as well.

[00:26:23] To be honest all the way through this season so far,

[00:26:26] I've really enjoyed this power spike couple absolutely honest and it played out just really in a way that you would expect from those two which was you know the McEvalian type of approach.

[00:26:43] I really enjoyed it. Yeah, that was really cool.

[00:26:46] Last one for me then just to mention also really like Stragabor's Butterfly security.

[00:26:53] That's not very impressive how yet didn't know that the butterfly that was sitting on the door she's about to open that only

[00:27:00] Stark to flap of swings and flew away when she came in isn't magic telling her that Stragabor is on his way.

[00:27:06] I don't know that would be my instant thought if I was in the world of magic.

[00:27:10] Yeah, so that that butterfly is definitely security being called.

[00:27:15] Definitely definitely.

[00:27:17] But good stuff good stuff overall really enjoyed the episodes one of my favorites so far this season and I think

[00:27:22] the structure that makes it probably one of my favorite episodes of TV that I've watched this year just it's just a really unusual way to tell the story and a really interesting way to watch.

[00:27:31] It works so well, yeah.

[00:27:32] No me to really enjoy this episode gives I would give it five for all looking festivities out of five.

[00:27:39] Yeah, I really really did enjoy it and it just kept me glued and each time I watched it it was just like really good.

[00:27:48] So yeah, I thought this was fantastic one.

[00:27:51] I think it's primarily around how it was structured in terms of the telly play and how it just kept that intrigue.

[00:28:01] You know people talk about intrigue from episode to episode live it on a cliffhanger and it this was just a slow peeling back of it.

[00:28:11] Absolutely at like different three points throughout this episode.

[00:28:16] Yeah, I mean it really made the episodes a refreshing and but done in a way.

[00:28:21] I'll still have to look at the cliffhanger.

[00:28:23] So it's just really good you know because why is that fight happening between issues and girls and then you find out a bit later in the episode as it comes back and just more of the rich dialogue coming out and the reasons for why actions have happened.

[00:28:40] And the first one is really excellent stuff.

[00:28:44] Yeah, yeah as I say you know this is kind of how the first whole season was structured that was the whole concept of how Geralt became committed to Siri.

[00:28:53] I was all structured in things of flashbacks or wrapping up at the end of the season by the reveal that the law of surprise meant that he is forever bound to Siri and they even mentioned that in this episode even here at young calling out that that.

[00:29:07] At previous ball where it ended up with the headshot group. So yeah, good stuff. Yeah, really well constructed really really good. Let's pop out over to some feedback for this episode.

[00:29:18] Absolutely first on episode five we have an email in from coffee and vodka who says greeting fellow dance floor defenders.

[00:29:27] Instead of the red wedding I was expecting we got a rush-am-on mission impossible a surprise if nothing else.

[00:29:34] I was neither surprised nor disappointed however in the reveal of the big body. What with so many candidates who was your prime candidate.

[00:29:42] With only a couple of weeks until the second half of the season I'm curious as to the next overriding plot.

[00:29:49] As well how they plan to pull off the changing Geralt's appearance. Hope you've enjoyed the season thus far and thanks for the podcast and community it's created.

[00:29:58] 3.5. Our twos has crowd, young pinianifers and railroaded racists out of 5.

[00:30:05] Peace and take care. Coffee and vodka. Who was my prime candidate?

[00:30:10] I don't think there was much of a surprise for myself either think their villager fought definitely but I do have to say even though we knew Lydia was the woman with the strange voice.

[00:30:22] I still was unsure about to say it's.

[00:30:26] I'm the involvement here whether she was a willing accomplice or whether she was being hoodwinked effectively by village of forts.

[00:30:35] I was going to say my sites weren't pointed directly at village of forts but by association with Tessiah I thought the two of them were in it.

[00:30:42] And I think there's also another line when they find the book amonglets and Tessiah kind of picks it up and goes oh my god this is the one that could restore the world's two.

[00:30:51] I'm sure the world's two at a time before else. Well I'll just take that for safekeeping so nobody else can go to her second was this for plan along together copy of the book.

[00:31:01] So I think I was probably aiming towards to say but I'm not surprised it's fills your voice it does make sense we had called out earlier on the season about that moment back when we met him first where he killed one of his own men and we were always wondering what was up with them with villager force.

[00:31:18] I'm not surprised by it. I was kind of going oh maybe this triggerboard though they plotted it very well that I would be would have been satisfied with the triggerboard being the bad the big evil bad guy.

[00:31:29] I kind of like this one more somebody working behind the scenes that isn't as flamboyant let's say that's the right choice.

[00:31:40] Thanks so much for your thoughts as well at coffee of vodka and not as long to wait to see what happens for the rest of the series because now all the other three episodes are available and not long to hear our thoughts since we'll be talking about episode six and a couple minutes.

[00:31:53] Yeah absolutely also on Facebook we got a message from Dr Bob Phillips.

[00:31:58] Yes Dr Bob says ah formal balls like Geralt I had no chance to remember in the names but did think that you had if it looked very lovely.

[00:32:06] I think I had slightly more musicality than our grunting hunk though.

[00:32:10] Really enjoyed the swirling spiral telling of the story.

[00:32:14] I remind of me of time loop tails glad the detectives got there in the end and while Stragabore is a nasty kidnapping child torturing racist scumbag

[00:32:22] It's the unreformed villager force who's working with our lyric lady Lydia to disrupt the worlds.

[00:32:28] Oh just a couple of weeks until vol 2 just a time for me holes.

[00:32:32] Excellent stuff Dr Bob. I hope you have made it on your holes at this stage and yes I think was Stragabore.

[00:32:41] Yes absolutely he's nasty yes he is a child torturing racist scumbag but I don't think he was the kidnaper.

[00:32:48] Oh dare I say it the torture I think that was Villagerful.

[00:32:51] Yes that's all Villager 4 series.

[00:32:53] So he's just an evil evil man and not particularly responsible for this crime.

[00:33:00] No well that's just crime.

[00:33:02] He may be responsible for all those probably.

[00:33:04] I think he certainly gave them a clip around the air but he wasn't involved in sort of melding them into a the thing like sort of monster.

[00:33:14] Yeah absolutely.

[00:33:15] All the experiments on the the kidnapped girls.

[00:33:20] I do wonder if his list of half elf half human attendees at the school.

[00:33:28] I wonder if that was being used by other people to target the girls.

[00:33:33] So it was a villager for using that specific list to target the girls or I think it's more than everybody that I think it's more that villager force.

[00:33:41] So I think we get this in the next episode.

[00:33:43] Absolutely absolutely.

[00:33:44] You know playing with people's preconceived notions of all the people.

[00:33:51] To like struggle or indeed their own character.

[00:33:56] Like he says to say it in episode 6 then.

[00:34:01] I think he played those like a piano.

[00:34:06] Well that sounds like a good way to take our little break and pop on over to our discussion about episode 6.

[00:34:12] Yeah thanks so much for the feedback Dr. Bob.

[00:34:15] Thanks Dr. Bob.

[00:34:16] Why?

[00:34:18] This is our home.

[00:34:20] No to say I.

[00:34:21] This is your home.

[00:34:23] I don't care who's saxet.

[00:34:26] I have my own aims and they no longer include you.

[00:34:31] How could you?

[00:34:34] Stregable with his pride was easy to set up.

[00:34:37] And you, with your undying trust, were easy to fall.

[00:34:41] Good stuff for back after our short break to talk about episode 6 of Seedon 3 of the Witcher.

[00:35:03] Everyone was a plan till their punch to the face.

[00:35:06] Love the title.

[00:35:07] Yes, one of my favorite titles comes from an interview with Mike Tyson.

[00:35:12] Where he was asked about what he was concerned about fighting around our Holyfield by a reporter.

[00:35:19] And that's the line he came up with.

[00:35:21] Well I agree as a plan until the punch to the face.

[00:35:23] So it's been used many times since then.

[00:35:26] It's such a great encapsulation of the idea of walking into the unknown and thinking you have a

[00:35:33] plan until someone put you in the face and you have to react to that plan.

[00:35:38] Good stuff.

[00:35:39] The show of course is based on the book series by Andrew Stipkysky and the game series from

[00:35:43] CD Projekt Red with show winner, Lawrence Smith, his rich of course and the sex of once again

[00:35:48] directed by La Né Paristeri.

[00:35:50] And the sex was written by heavy grillo, Marks Watch.

[00:35:53] That's very interesting, Roger.

[00:35:55] You know why John?

[00:35:56] Just going back to all of our time on TV podcast interviews is one writer that interacted

[00:36:01] with us more than any other writer.

[00:36:03] I writer from the wonderful agent Carter Jose Malena.

[00:36:06] Yes.

[00:36:07] Have he is his podcast partner?

[00:36:09] Excellent.

[00:36:10] In the history center podcast children of ten do.

[00:36:13] If you ever want to know head to be a screen writer, go check that out.

[00:36:17] Really really interesting stories from behind the scenes.

[00:36:20] Have he was a writer on last back in 2004, a very, very well celebrated writer on

[00:36:25] last and has lots of stories to share about his time on last including some that

[00:36:29] were just recently revealed in a very explosive book about behind the scenes in the

[00:36:34] industry.

[00:36:35] Those came from heavy.

[00:36:36] So they're very interesting.

[00:36:38] He's really interesting podcast as well.

[00:36:40] He's got a lot of time for bringing up people who start out in writer's room and

[00:36:45] how they get to the kind of level he's out at the moment.

[00:36:48] Very recent he wrote two episodes of the TV show from as well, which has been a really

[00:36:52] interesting horror-filled sci-fi show.

[00:36:55] Yeah.

[00:36:56] It's been good.

[00:36:57] So great to see how he over here working on the Witcher as well.

[00:37:00] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:37:01] Can definitely tell it as well.

[00:37:04] You know, really again, slowly enjoyed this episode.

[00:37:08] Yeah.

[00:37:09] Brilliant stuff, John.

[00:37:10] Do you want to tell us what they gave us with your synopsis for episode six of The Witcher

[00:37:14] Season 3, everyone's a plan.

[00:37:16] Till they're punched in the face.

[00:37:17] Sure.

[00:37:18] With Geralt taking prisoner, bloodshed and betrayal rocks are a

[00:37:22] twosa as the redanian soldiers led by Dixtra and Philip are along with several

[00:37:27] Northern majors, strike a coup to arrest majors led by Villager Faults who collaborated

[00:37:32] with Nilfgaard.

[00:37:33] Hmm.

[00:37:34] Not believing the accusations leveled at her lover to say a freeze the apprehended

[00:37:39] majors and Villager Faults, where he reveals his conniving, plotting and betrayal

[00:37:44] to Tissia as he lets an invading force of Elven's skowatel led by Keir

[00:37:50] and Queen Francesca to reclaim Arotusa.

[00:37:54] The hunt for Siri comes to a head as Villager Faults the elves and the radanians all seek

[00:37:59] to find Siri for their own purposes.

[00:38:02] Abludi battle erupts between the league of Nilfgaardian and Skowatel forces and the Northern

[00:38:08] majors, as many are killed on both sides, including Philavandral and Autorius.

[00:38:15] It's where Geralt Siri and Yennefer are briefly reunited trying to get Siri to save

[00:38:20] Dixtra but after surviving in a tank by Rienz who is killed and decapitated by Geralt,

[00:38:25] Yennefer must go to help her are choosing brothers and sisters.

[00:38:29] Yennefer joins her weakened mentor to say at the battle after she has cast a devastating

[00:38:35] spell of last resort, leaving Arotusa ruined.

[00:38:38] While the last few majors are saved by Stregable who sacrifices himself using

[00:38:43] fire magic to stop the remaining forces from finishing them off.

[00:38:47] Meanwhile, Geralt and Siri are confronted by Keir who has an epiphany realising he has been

[00:38:54] used and lied to for long enough, asking for forgiveness from Siri he pledges to defend her

[00:39:00] as he fights off Skowatel hunting Siri and Geralt.

[00:39:04] As they both make their way to the short or escape by boat, something feels wrong and Geralt

[00:39:09] commands Siri to run.

[00:39:11] She runs back towards Arotusa and the tower of Torlara as villager faults confront Skowatel.

[00:39:17] The dark meach shows expert combat prowess and defeats Geralt allowing him to pursue

[00:39:23] Siri.

[00:39:24] Half dead and bleeding out, a lucky Geralt is found by Triss who takes him to Brocklegillam.

[00:39:30] At Torlara just before villager faults can capture her, Siri taps into the power of the

[00:39:37] Monolith contained in the tower, unleashing a devastating explosion which destroys the tower.

[00:39:43] Nothing on the continent will ever be the same again.

[00:39:47] Absolutely, there will be Arotusa that will never be the same again.

[00:39:50] It's completely rare.

[00:39:52] Absolutely.

[00:39:53] Everything.

[00:39:54] Absolutely.

[00:39:56] Completely.

[00:39:57] I mean quite frankly to say by the end of this episode looks like she has a massive hongo from the festivities

[00:40:05] the night before.

[00:40:06] She looks absolutely destroyed and spent as well.

[00:40:11] I'm just full on white as well.

[00:40:13] Absolutely.

[00:40:14] Yeah, yeah.

[00:40:15] Yeah.

[00:40:16] Age is several decades there in a moment.

[00:40:19] I guess whatever about fire magic taking something from you, I guess the spell of last

[00:40:25] resource that she casts are the the nice incantation of last resource.

[00:40:29] I can't remember what it's called.

[00:40:30] Alzor's thunder.

[00:40:32] Yeah, I guess summons that takes a lot of it as well, I guess.

[00:40:36] Definitely.

[00:40:37] What an episode where are we going to start with our big moments from episode 6.

[00:40:41] Yeah, well Derek, I think we should begin with you.

[00:40:45] What's your big moment?

[00:40:46] I'm going to steal the big battle of Arotusa and all of the copious immense of deaths

[00:40:52] of major characters that we have in this episode.

[00:40:56] It's a fantastically staged battle.

[00:40:59] Just watching at the second time and it's really interesting.

[00:41:02] Some characters are fighting with swords, some characters are fighting with magic.

[00:41:05] And it's really interesting how much power the actors are getting across with the magic

[00:41:10] that they're using.

[00:41:11] And it does look like they're like they're brandishing weapons versus swords on the other side,

[00:41:16] even when they're effectively just pushing their hands towards somebody.

[00:41:20] But they've done a really good job of making this look so dynamic and so powerful as a battle

[00:41:27] between all of these different groups that are in here.

[00:41:30] The initial majors that are trying to defend Arotusa versus the scowy tell that were brought in by

[00:41:36] Villager Forz and the other group, which is the people that thought they were going to be easily able to

[00:41:42] sack this conclive of majors with lead by Dexter and Phillip.

[00:41:47] They had the upper hand to begin with.

[00:41:50] We saw the end of last episode where Dexter had captured Geralt and Geralt.

[00:41:55] Now we see him putting down his sword and going willingly with Dexter as everybody else in the castle,

[00:42:01] who isn't already on their side is being captured and forced into this secure room taken away.

[00:42:07] And as they lay out their plan for taking over Arotusa and getting rid of the brotherhood of majors.

[00:42:14] So that seemed like they had the upper hand to begin with.

[00:42:17] And all the took was to say it to come in and free them all and then in itself that step on leashes.

[00:42:24] But how are they on Arotusa?

[00:42:27] You know, this whole battle is kicked off in that moment and not only just to say it,

[00:42:32] Luz Arotusa here.

[00:42:34] She also loses her lover in the worst way.

[00:42:37] Villager Forz himself is saying, I just used your love and trust of other people against you.

[00:42:43] Yes.

[00:42:44] I use everything against everybody else.

[00:42:46] I know how people work and I use it against them.

[00:42:49] Well that's it.

[00:42:50] He says to say your undying trust was easy to fool.

[00:42:54] I mean, it's a real punch in the gut.

[00:42:58] And like just, you know, those moments that reveal it's just really, really good.

[00:43:06] You know, his objectives are just different because me is not even that he hangs around to extract revenge on Dexter and fill up her.

[00:43:16] And I love the fact that after to say a sort of unbinds all the the majors that have been accused of aligning with Nilfgaard because Dexter and fill up her have got the evidence of portals opening up between Arotusa and Nilfgaard.

[00:43:34] It's just there's two elements of this.

[00:43:36] I think it's just that you know, the point that Villar Forz plan is something different.

[00:43:41] Yeah, not even necessarily bigger than it arguably is as well.

[00:43:46] But it's just you know, he takes down some soldiers just simply to get out of the room so he can do his plan.

[00:43:55] He's not worried about this minutiae and similarly, you know, I love just the response of Dexter as it all effectively goes belly up.

[00:44:05] He's kind of like, right? I'm out of here. I'm walks off like following Geralt and Geralt's the same really it's just like I'm not dealing with this sort of minutiae or of fighting, retaining soldiers or whatever.

[00:44:19] I've got to go my bigger plan is to protect Siri because I need to get Siri. Dexter is okay.

[00:44:26] This isn't really working out. I'm at least going to get myself to safety even though we know, you know, despite his kind of bureaucratic look.

[00:44:34] He's probably quite nifty with a blaze. Yeah, true. I just think he picks his battles as much as that. He could sense with the tied turning against him pretty quickly. So I'm out of there.

[00:44:47] Well, he picks the wrong one with Geralt who effectively breaks his arm and his leg and I do both that moment where Philip comes in to save him.

[00:44:57] He's about to be stabbed by one of the majors. And she comes in her alform sort of scratches the face off the guy and then as she's helping Dexter up and down the stirs goes, we've got a long way to go. It's a good job you like paying as we've seen her whipping him before exactly.

[00:45:22] So what's that? Well, it's but in the battle itself as I said we lose a couple of a couple of quite major characters.

[00:45:28] They mentioned someone in the in the snap to stare. We lose Francesca's husband who's been really protective of her in probably the most brutal looking.

[00:45:37] We've seen the season as he steps in the way before she loses her head and explodes all over her.

[00:45:44] From that point onwards Francesca does not hold back. She doesn't but it takes Fringella who is also a company to snap her out of it.

[00:45:55] Because she is absolutely shell-shot. It's almost like the battle of the Psalm and with all the bloodshed in particular with Philavangel being her husband and the king effectively.

[00:46:11] In that moment it could have been lost. She may have just simply not had that motivation to carry on, but it's to friend Jillis stepping in and telling her you need to snap out of it and lead as well as protecting her against her own uncle as well.

[00:46:36] I think you know, you right. I think that is in that moment of the battle where things could have been lost.

[00:46:45] Don't say sooner for the skeleton and the elves. They fight on and manage to regroup and she manages to trap them in the court.

[00:46:56] Exactly. Exactly. You've totally rushed to mention Fringella's impact is supposed on this side.

[00:47:03] So again, we have another situation here in the continent. We have the brotherhood of Majus as one group of Majus and Philabel on another side as another Majus aligned with the side and Fringella now aligned with the skeleton.

[00:47:16] So Majus versus Majus, not all members of the brotherhood and all those parrots coming out. And fighting off against each other. It's also to mention we do lose Arturius in this episode from Joe's uncle is killed here as well.

[00:47:31] Yeah, by Fringella exactly saying farewell uncle.

[00:47:35] I mean he was, you have to say it or some of the Majus screaming that take out Francesca now while she's still in shell shock effect.

[00:47:44] And you see this knife but it heads and stabs Arturius in the heart. Yes.

[00:47:51] And that's from Fringella actually. Fringella has a number of key moments in this episode both with Francesca and killing Arturius.

[00:48:01] But also what she says to Kehea as well as Kehea's being told to go out and find Siri.

[00:48:08] And you know, she says it's amazing what you can do when you think for yourself.

[00:48:13] Exactly.

[00:48:14] And which leads to Kehea as described in the summary of this kind of epiphany that he has been taken advantage of and lied to for too long and actually his destiny hasn't been within his own control.

[00:48:30] In this moment, you know he realizes once he can't be forgiven for what he did to her family and chasing her around the continent he asks for her forgiveness.

[00:48:42] Whether that is forgiveness or forgiveness at the point of her blaze.

[00:48:48] Yes.

[00:48:49] And death. And when she doesn't do that, he pledges to find her again and to protect her effectively.

[00:48:58] And arguably, Siri was pretty close. Like she said to him, you've taken everything from me. This whole entire path that she's been on really has been because of Kehea and what he did.

[00:49:10] And what he was because he was sent to look for her. So yeah, he does head off to stop this go-at-home that are coming down.

[00:49:19] And so I suspect we're going to see him back in the future. And now possibly as a protector of Siri another another protector for Siri. So yeah, that's quite interesting.

[00:49:28] And we also lose the oldest age in Artusa. He may not have died but he was having a hard time.

[00:49:35] Yeah, he looked like he was on the way out what he could have survived.

[00:49:39] He could have.

[00:49:40] And kind of adjacent to the battle.

[00:49:43] We lose another one of the biggest characters for the show so far. We lose Reense, which was a real shocker.

[00:49:49] But a fantastically put together scene as Jan and Siri are getting away.

[00:49:55] Jan's carrying Geralt's sword, which he left behind.

[00:49:59] And when Reense tells her to put a damn she throws it but over his head to Geralt and a waiting girl to take the head from his shoulders.

[00:50:09] Certainly wasn't expecting him to go out like that.

[00:50:13] No, I wasn't. And interestingly just before he dies he indicates that he's not working for Villager Fultz anymore.

[00:50:20] You know, she, Jan says, you know, your master has been on mass.

[00:50:25] Yeah.

[00:50:26] And he's like, I'm not effectively working for him anymore because we had that moment.

[00:50:32] And were Reense's questioning why.

[00:50:36] And his master, I think he's speaking to Lydia at your time, is working with Nilfgaard.

[00:50:42] So Reense is against Nilfgaard here.

[00:50:46] Yes.

[00:50:47] And feels there is a betrayal of by Villager Fultz, Moff, and his dealings with Nilfgaard even though she said,

[00:50:55] working with them is not the same as aligning with exactly.

[00:50:58] Yeah.

[00:50:59] That was kind of at least, okay, it's his last words.

[00:51:03] Yeah. But interestingly he was taking it on himself to do, now we'll never know I guess what that plan may be.

[00:51:11] Well, the show does mess around with time to explain things that we may not have seen before.

[00:51:15] So I feel like we may see Reense back.

[00:51:18] But interestingly again another character that you would have thought is the big part of the show being taken out like this here because the real big part has been revealed and revealed before.

[00:51:28] So I thought that was an interesting choice that a real surprise in that moment because we didn't get a massive showdown between Geralt versus Reense versus Seri versus Ian.

[00:51:38] It felt like a little stand-off and then head's gone.

[00:51:42] Well, yeah, it was a shock because Geralt was hidden from the view of the audience like Laundry and Sankr.

[00:51:50] Really, I kind of quite liked it.

[00:51:53] It felt like, you know, he's kind of felt like this big bad, but actually again he's just another poem to the filter for example.

[00:52:01] In the wider scheme of things. So I really enjoyed that.

[00:52:05] We also have, I think, the death of Stregaball who uses via magic to basically, I mean, he is aiming at Frangilla and Francesco.

[00:52:19] But we see them later so they have survived it. So maybe Frangilla was able to put up a shield like we see.

[00:52:28] And her doing when to say her does the alzo's thunder and that spell of last resort.

[00:52:37] Yeah.

[00:52:38] So Frangilla is really being the bodyguard here for Francesco.

[00:52:44] But Stregaball, you just see him being consumed by flame with the scowetel in the courtyard.

[00:52:52] Now you think like with the NFA he probably would survive that.

[00:52:57] Maybe.

[00:52:58] But it's interesting even though he's never liked the NFA.

[00:53:02] It's to Jennifer that he says I will buy you some time and take, you know, I'm burn these else to hell.

[00:53:09] You know, I mean he's unleashing his rage and fire magic on elves that he has never liked.

[00:53:17] Yeah. And that's true.

[00:53:19] That does sound like final words.

[00:53:21] That does sound like he's redeeming himself after the accusations in the last episode.

[00:53:27] And the accusations that were as we said not technically to do with the actual crime that they were investigating.

[00:53:34] But there are all the accusations were pretty much true.

[00:53:37] So I think it feels like he is trying to redeem himself.

[00:53:40] But as he say, it is against elves.

[00:53:42] So he's up maybe taking an opportunity here if he's going to sacrifice himself when I take out hundreds of elves with him.

[00:53:48] Yeah.

[00:53:49] So yeah, we don't quite know whether he's survived or not.

[00:53:54] I mean the other interesting thing in this battle is that, you know,

[00:53:58] Dexter rounding up the majors, it is primarily majors that have sympathies towards nerf gods.

[00:54:04] So there are other majors there with gray on bands on seeing as allies.

[00:54:09] But because of this treason by the majors in the brotherhood,

[00:54:15] It's as Philip has says it's in a sense not a coup.

[00:54:19] The brotherhood to some degree will remain, but it's a purge.

[00:54:24] It could just be that it's northern majors that are aligned with them because they are.

[00:54:29] The radania is northern and they're fighting nilth gods.

[00:54:33] So yeah, because we did see one of the majors that was aligned was the one that owned the shop that,

[00:54:39] Yeah, and Siri went into the room.

[00:54:41] Yes.

[00:54:42] So we know that she was in the north.

[00:54:43] And you see them later, even though they've got the sort of got the gray on bands on,

[00:54:48] They rip them off and say, you know, we're here to fight.

[00:54:50] We can deal with this tomorrow.

[00:54:52] Yeah, it's tomorrow.

[00:54:53] But we're protecting our home and as user and the brotherhood.

[00:54:58] Yeah. And that's kind of to say is thing, you know, this is her home.

[00:55:02] And so she's her use of this spell of less resort is to try and protect it.

[00:55:09] But there is so much damage from Francesca going psycho as well after the death of Philip Andrewl.

[00:55:18] So, as soon as it's not looking particularly healthy, it's not a memory.

[00:55:23] It's not a memory.

[00:55:24] But was awesome to watch.

[00:55:26] It was really good to really enjoy it.

[00:55:28] I really enjoyed it.

[00:55:29] It felt like a significant shift in the world of the continent definitely, definitely.

[00:55:37] But so which death of destruction happening in this scene and this moment at felt that's why I felt so epic.

[00:55:44] It felt like they could pretty much take out any of the secondary characters.

[00:55:49] Let's say it's out of a main three.

[00:55:51] They could take out any of the secondary characters.

[00:55:53] Well, I mean, and they did.

[00:55:54] I mean, even the archers, the elephant archers had their tips of their arrows.

[00:56:00] And I think it's de-trium which can penetrate through the force fields.

[00:56:05] Yeah.

[00:56:06] Let's straight through to say as a force field or a force field.

[00:56:08] Yeah.

[00:56:09] So it was like they had to deflect the arrows and get the arch.

[00:56:13] And get the archers rather than just simply being able to put up a force field of magic.

[00:56:18] So, you know, I like that little aspect to it as well.

[00:56:22] You know, I think it was really, really good.

[00:56:26] Again, as I say, I think to say here just that look of being lost and betrayed and dejected.

[00:56:34] Yeah.

[00:56:35] Was was just really well played.

[00:56:39] You know, again, a shell shock about it.

[00:56:42] Exactly.

[00:56:43] Yeah.

[00:56:44] And Jennifer sort of realized she needs to go and help her fellow majors and sorcerers in particular

[00:56:52] to see it.

[00:56:53] Yeah.

[00:56:54] And then that's so important for you.

[00:56:55] Yeah.

[00:56:56] Yeah.

[00:56:57] Well, that was my big moment from the episode John.

[00:56:59] You've got the other massive moment from the episode as well, I think.

[00:57:02] Oh, absolutely.

[00:57:03] It is the battle between Villager for some garrole.

[00:57:06] You know, I just have to say off the top.

[00:57:10] You know, you have this huge sort of battle taking place in Arachuse.

[00:57:14] But I loved all the stuff around it such as with Kahir and Siri with Jennifer,

[00:57:20] Geralt, Rhence and Siri and then Geralt, you know, realizing they need to get away from here.

[00:57:29] Yeah.

[00:57:30] And that's his plan.

[00:57:31] And going down to the beach to get to the boats that the Scorytel had arrived on.

[00:57:37] But that moment where he effectively, you know, his sense that something's not right and

[00:57:43] tells her to run out of just the start of this even where he's creeping around this kind of cave in

[00:57:51] the rocks where the boats are.

[00:57:52] This kind of little sort of, and harbour within an alcove of the rocks.

[00:57:58] Yeah.

[00:57:59] And then he comes out and you have Villager for it.

[00:58:01] And I just thought this entire battle was really, really great.

[00:58:07] I mean, I loved Villager for stuff.

[00:58:10] I loved how that was portrayed where it kind of sort of dissipated and then re-appeared to stop Geralt.

[00:58:19] And his use of it, you know, just showing that prowess that he has it.

[00:58:24] You know, he says himself, you know, the worst was having to hold things back and not reveal my true

[00:58:30] self.

[00:58:31] I would have to pretend though wasn't good at this.

[00:58:33] But all the time as well, you get the sense that he's still trying to get Geralt on board with him.

[00:58:41] And I least to begin with.

[00:58:43] And then when he realizes Geralt is not for turning and then, you know, he just presses

[00:58:51] his advantage with this fantastic South such a great concept.

[00:58:57] Love how it was portrayed.

[00:59:00] And I mean, you know, Geralt is badly injured here and you really feel that staffs have been

[00:59:07] whacked by Villager for it against his leg and braving it.

[00:59:12] And he doesn't kill him which may prove to be his undoing and huge mistake.

[00:59:20] But, you know, it's this sense of, you know, we've had all through the season that there's

[00:59:26] this, you know, shadowy dark mage controlling the re-ense that he knows.

[00:59:31] So many different aspects of magic illusion all this kind of stuff as well as, you know, this corrupting

[00:59:40] portals that it's more than just one element of magic that he has been able to master.

[00:59:46] And so that sense of invincibility that you get from Villager for it is really, really,

[00:59:54] really good in this conversation between the Chirp and I just really enjoyed it.

[01:00:00] Absolutely loved it, yeah.

[01:00:01] And it's also a big thing for our major character that we're through the shows named after

[01:00:06] Geralt, the Witcher.

[01:00:07] So it's such a big thing to see him getting beaten by somebody.

[01:00:12] We've seen getting hurt and bruised and damaged and you know, battered many times.

[01:00:17] But come for a handsome usually comes back.

[01:00:19] Be pretty quickly, yeah.

[01:00:20] And I like the fact that you know, before, before Villager for realises that he's not able

[01:00:27] to pull Geralt over to be his partner on onto his side.

[01:00:34] It almost feels like that an extrapolation, a continuation of that conversation that they

[01:00:40] have around the balcony from, so five and that's what I thought was a really nice tie in there.

[01:00:46] And I just thought it was great.

[01:00:49] I really want to see, it's a real shame for me actually that Hemingcavel won't be the

[01:00:56] Witcher at the end of this series because I just actually really liked these two together.

[01:01:02] Oh yeah, like the chalk and cheese elements of you know,

[01:01:06] the Witcher is a man a few words and Villager for it is this, you know, feels like there's

[01:01:13] learned, um, mage.

[01:01:17] And I just loved how they interacted here.

[01:01:20] It was really good because you felt Geralt could have the upper hand with this guy

[01:01:26] and then in the end all his moves are blocked by that awesome staff.

[01:01:31] Yeah.

[01:01:32] And he just gets beaten down.

[01:01:34] You know, he gets sort of was stabbed by us in the shoulder, his legs, dumb, you know,

[01:01:40] he uses magic against him.

[01:01:42] And so this was really fantastic one on one battle to the end of it and which I really enjoyed.

[01:01:49] Yeah.

[01:01:50] But remember we do have two more episodes together.

[01:01:52] Yeah, absolutely.

[01:01:53] In every note, we've had an entire battle between two armies here in our two's in this

[01:01:58] one episode.

[01:01:59] So you never know we could see a, and we could see that battle between the two of them close

[01:02:03] it to season.

[01:02:04] Absolutely.

[01:02:05] But with him beating Geralt, um, he does go after a series here.

[01:02:12] Yeah.

[01:02:13] You know, I love, as he comes into the tower of Torlora and he says, you know, please let me

[01:02:19] help you.

[01:02:20] He's kind of pleading and he comes in.

[01:02:23] He's called Pauceirias, they're standing at the monolith as these, this text is going

[01:02:28] across us and it's beginning to vibrate and glow.

[01:02:32] And you know, she's just kind of internalizing I guess this kind of knowledge, communication

[01:02:39] of what these monoliths mean, how it relates to the power that she and that everyone has

[01:02:48] saying potentially exists within her.

[01:02:50] And she, she just says, you know, I understand, you know, it's like she's speaking

[01:02:56] to the monolith and you see, Vill de Fort come up the stairs and he's, he's vibrating

[01:03:02] as well.

[01:03:03] You just get the different lapses.

[01:03:05] It's just some really good, um, sort of TV here.

[01:03:10] I felt.

[01:03:11] Really feel like I'm really, really, uh, interesting seeing as you say, different

[01:03:16] versions of Vill de Fort coming in through the door.

[01:03:18] It's like three of them meeting up together in the last one's talking as the first one's

[01:03:22] and it's just a really, really, really good.

[01:03:26] Realty cool, but again, it's series commuting with the, um, with the monolith.

[01:03:32] Yeah, I was thinking of Chockey from the 80s TV show.

[01:03:35] Yeah, exactly.

[01:03:36] So it's like that.

[01:03:37] It's the kids are able to communicate with the, with the space being, uh, just

[01:03:40] reminded me of that.

[01:03:41] But he's trying to help her out because he's studied it.

[01:03:44] He has a plan for what he wants to do with the monolith and she's able to

[01:03:48] walk in there and communicate with her.

[01:03:49] We don't know what's going to happen after the back of it, but he's worried that

[01:03:53] if he doesn't get his hands into Siri, she will do something that she doesn't know how exactly

[01:03:59] you know, isn't trained for exactly.

[01:04:01] I mean, he says you're not ready for this kind of power.

[01:04:04] Yes, but it's all too late as this monolith is activated, I guess.

[01:04:09] It's a stomach stent.

[01:04:10] It's such an interesting refrain right in Siri from season one, you know,

[01:04:13] the fact that she is now a witcher, but she's a very powerful witcher already.

[01:04:17] She's very, very good in battle.

[01:04:19] We've seen that this season.

[01:04:20] Yeah, a great maze.

[01:04:22] She has in a parr, in her book Ants control the power as that does.

[01:04:27] Yeah, and it's trying to teach her English.

[01:04:29] And now we are again third element here.

[01:04:32] She's here using the monolith and potentially she could destroy the world.

[01:04:36] Or she could bring about the wild hunt from another plane by her interacting with the monolith

[01:04:42] and not having the experience of having the training to use it.

[01:04:45] Well, that's it.

[01:04:46] And interestingly, you know, to your point around big deaths, I mean,

[01:04:51] I know that Siri hasn't just died in that huge explosion, but I mean, has villager thoughts

[01:04:56] or has she, is Siri and villager thoughts somehow we impulled into the monolith

[01:05:01] like we sort of began to understand through the witcher blood origins spin off.

[01:05:07] Yeah.

[01:05:08] And with their interaction with the monolith in the past.

[01:05:11] Yeah, exactly.

[01:05:12] So the wild plot.

[01:05:13] So you know, this is really good because that's been brought now to the continent as it is in the witcher

[01:05:21] in the witcher series.

[01:05:23] So I can't wait to have a look at episode 7 and 8 now for sure.

[01:05:28] You know, I'm really glad we've put them in season into two episodes each time.

[01:05:32] So we don't have to wait a massive amount of time.

[01:05:34] We want to see two of them back to back.

[01:05:36] And no one happens at the end of the season.

[01:05:38] Yeah, I thought villager thoughts was great here.

[01:05:41] I love how he, you know, really sort of rained on to say as parades here.

[01:05:48] I mean, just even letting in the elves and then just using our own character against her and how

[01:05:55] he used and abused that.

[01:05:57] And we also do see him well, we see a,

[01:06:01] kind of just an essentially weird story and a story on beautifully

[01:06:09] illustrated guessing the book of monolith.

[01:06:13] And from one of the rooms, a villager thought basically catches him doing it.

[01:06:26] can actually do, yeah, I really like that.

[01:06:30] And yeah, it'll be intriguing to see

[01:06:31] what happens with this street

[01:06:32] and the book of monlets coming up.

[01:06:36] Any note about the episode,

[01:06:37] anything we may have glossed over in the midst

[01:06:39] in the episode, John, that you want to quickly talk about?

[01:06:42] The only one is the whole love relationship

[01:06:46] between Radovid and Yasuke,

[01:06:50] is not there.

[01:06:51] And I really enjoyed Yasuke saying,

[01:06:54] I thought I'd seen through your mask,

[01:06:57] but actually there was nothing behind it.

[01:06:59] And this is what you are.

[01:07:02] I knew what you were,

[01:07:03] I thought there was something more behind it.

[01:07:07] But ultimately you've tried to kidnap Siri here

[01:07:11] and you've betrayed my affections.

[01:07:14] So, yeah.

[01:07:16] But then the other side of the conversation there as well.

[01:07:19] So there is, there is, there is,

[01:07:21] there is Prince Radovid saying,

[01:07:23] okay, I see how this looks.

[01:07:25] I was trying to take Siri

[01:07:26] because I genuinely believe that the best place for is Rodenia.

[01:07:29] Yeah.

[01:07:30] But all the affections and our nice that we spent together,

[01:07:34] none of that was me pretending

[01:07:36] so I could get closer to Siri.

[01:07:38] It's what he said to him.

[01:07:39] So, I don't know, I think there's still potential there.

[01:07:42] There is potential there, but I think Radovid

[01:07:45] has got a lot of making up to Yasuke.

[01:07:47] Yes, sir.

[01:07:48] Sir, the other thing that we should have mentioned

[01:07:52] is, you know, Jan runs to go and rescue Siri.

[01:07:57] But it is attacked by Lydia in the sort of tunnel series.

[01:08:02] And I think Lydia has also,

[01:08:06] dare I say, it gone to the Sorcerer Heaven or Hell, I guess.

[01:08:11] I have to rely on that scene twice because I just missed

[01:08:14] the snap of her neck that Jan does.

[01:08:17] It seems very, it's very final.

[01:08:19] Yeah, it looks like it looks like Jan has just gone

[01:08:23] not even dealing with this anymore.

[01:08:24] It's very powerful.

[01:08:26] Lydia is very powerful and is able to take on Jan pretty well,

[01:08:30] but with the help of Triss and they're able to stop her.

[01:08:34] And yet, it does seem like there's a final snap of the neck.

[01:08:37] So we won't see Lydia back in future either.

[01:08:40] So we've taken Rianz and Lydia both off the board

[01:08:43] as we exposed Vildi forts.

[01:08:47] So now really, the two big bads are a series that,

[01:08:51] the White Flame and Nilfgaard and those forts now.

[01:08:56] Yeah, although Dictra is still around.

[01:08:59] Dictra is hobbling his way back up north.

[01:09:01] So I suspect that he may be...

[01:09:04] Let's end his day and then look for it.

[01:09:06] Down and out for a while.

[01:09:08] Or at least they have to get a pass to Oralara

[01:09:10] before they're able to cast a portal to get them back up north.

[01:09:13] So it's not that long at walk.

[01:09:14] They're not walking the entire length of the constant thankfully

[01:09:18] for him, both at least he likes paint.

[01:09:20] And I do want to mention just one other quick notion

[01:09:22] from Dictra as well.

[01:09:25] I really liked that moment when he's looking at the window

[01:09:27] at the ships coming in and he references the messenger

[01:09:32] that was killed with the hour through his throat saying,

[01:09:35] wow, I didn't expect him to deliver this well.

[01:09:38] I should double his pay because he thinks

[01:09:40] that all the ships that are coming in

[01:09:42] are the reinforcements that he called for.

[01:09:44] But they're not.

[01:09:45] Yeah, he later says...

[01:09:46] So it's...

[01:09:47] I chose badly.

[01:09:49] He thought he'd actually been betrayed by the messenger.

[01:09:52] Exactly.

[01:09:53] And so, yeah, interesting.

[01:09:54] I also liked just how Geralt was so casual

[01:09:59] after being brought in by Dictra in the room with all the pages.

[01:10:03] So, you know, and they're accusing builder forts of...

[01:10:09] In effect, Vill de Hortes in the crossers of Rodania

[01:10:12] was only completely different than what he's actually doing.

[01:10:16] Exactly.

[01:10:17] But as Geralt says,

[01:10:18] it says, I don't believe the accusations are unfounded here.

[01:10:22] You know, and then he said,

[01:10:22] talks about this and unusual fog in the back.

[01:10:25] It's like, yeah, again, it's just not choosing the side.

[01:10:29] And I know, I agree.

[01:10:30] Why is my neutrality such a bother to everyone?

[01:10:35] Yes.

[01:10:35] You know, it's really well kind of done by Henry Caval.

[01:10:39] Oh, I'm really enjoyed it.

[01:10:41] Yep, absolutely.

[01:10:42] It is one of those moments from Dictra where he's going to go,

[01:10:45] when I look and presenting all of the evidence in front of you,

[01:10:47] now choose the side and the mind's the side

[01:10:49] that you should choose again.

[01:10:50] It's effectively going, you don't have all the evidence.

[01:10:52] You don't have it all right.

[01:10:53] Yeah.

[01:10:54] You do have some accusations that are probably true,

[01:10:56] but that doesn't mean I'm going to change the habit of a lifetime

[01:10:59] and join you.

[01:11:01] And you're not the right side for me.

[01:11:03] Exactly.

[01:11:04] Another excellent Henry Caval moment.

[01:11:06] Good stuff.

[01:11:07] I think that's it for the subset.

[01:11:09] What's the six?

[01:11:10] Yes, that's everything for me.

[01:11:12] Overall any final thoughts on the episode

[01:11:14] would you think overall of episode six?

[01:11:15] Again, I absolutely loved this.

[01:11:17] I really thoroughly enjoyed it.

[01:11:19] And I loved that actually we watched them

[01:11:22] to five and six back to back.

[01:11:24] Again, I would give this five

[01:11:27] aratuses of blazing without a five.

[01:11:30] And five hellish hand govers.

[01:11:33] Yeah, I just really enjoyed the thrust of it.

[01:11:36] It just felt epic.

[01:11:38] Memantes.

[01:11:39] It really pushed the story along.

[01:11:42] It was done in such a good way.

[01:11:45] The battle of aratusa felt meaningful people lost that lives.

[01:11:50] I mean, how many times do we do shows where we say,

[01:11:52] you know, there's no real consequences or you didn't feel

[01:11:57] anyone was really under threat here.

[01:11:59] Huge numbers potentially have died

[01:12:02] and that are meaningful characters like Streggle Boe,

[01:12:06] Phil Avangerel, all these different people.

[01:12:11] Olivia and then Vildafortz and Geralt's personal fight was just

[01:12:20] real epic as well.

[01:12:22] And I hope they bring his staff along for another fight at some point.

[01:12:29] I'll be honest with you.

[01:12:30] That was that was a really good bit of like concept design

[01:12:36] and execution of it.

[01:12:38] So they thought it was really cool.

[01:12:41] If it's not done in Torrinar, of course.

[01:12:44] Yeah.

[01:12:44] That else I've expected.

[01:12:45] But he kind of got Vildafortz.

[01:12:47] Can you imagine?

[01:12:48] I don't know the book so they may have done.

[01:12:51] No, I would actually.

[01:12:52] I would actually, but see one usual, but will that, I guess we'll see

[01:12:56] when we get into episode seven and later.

[01:12:57] And I mean, ultimately game changing, you know,

[01:13:00] Siri has tapped in understanding her potential power

[01:13:07] and how that relates to the model.

[01:13:10] Yes, I know.

[01:13:12] And that is a game changer on the continent.

[01:13:14] And then to the point all before around the Witcher

[01:13:18] blood origins, it's really good having that spin off.

[01:13:24] Yeah.

[01:13:25] Just have a little snippets of information around the model.

[01:13:28] It feels like it gives this so much more weight.

[01:13:32] Yeah.

[01:13:33] So yeah, really good.

[01:13:34] Five.

[01:13:36] Our twos of blaze out of five.

[01:13:39] Exhaust offered total agreement with it.

[01:13:41] This is another great episode.

[01:13:43] I probably prepared five because of the structure of it

[01:13:47] but this is such a great battle episode to kick us off

[01:13:49] into the final half of the season.

[01:13:52] Great stuff.

[01:13:53] Let's pop it over and hear some thoughts from our wonderful fellow

[01:13:55] Witchers.

[01:13:56] We got the email in from Coffee and Vodka on episode six.

[01:13:59] He says, Greetings Fellow and Game Defenders.

[01:14:02] Never has an episode been more aptly titled.

[01:14:04] Looks like what comes after I'm asking the mystery body

[01:14:07] is dealing with them.

[01:14:08] His goals and the KRC brings,

[01:14:10] filled of forces anything but the paper tiger

[01:14:13] I'd expected besting all sides and aspects,

[01:14:16] including Geralt.

[01:14:17] Wow indeed.

[01:14:19] We knew it was coming to a battle royale

[01:14:21] but they took my expectations and like the title said,

[01:14:24] punched me in the face with them.

[01:14:26] And at the end, to have Siri turn the tables like that, brilliant.

[01:14:29] Can't wait to hear you all make sense

[01:14:31] of the long buildup carnoz that was this episode.

[01:14:34] And at the meantime, to get to the next one

[01:14:36] to see what happens after all goes to an unplanned shit.

[01:14:39] Usually would of my favorite Witcher episodes

[01:14:42] today, even after all the buildup

[01:14:44] loved the ironically quick ending of Reense.

[01:14:46] Five fiery racist sorceress retorts

[01:14:49] unreserved last resort and Geralt attacks out of five.

[01:14:55] Peace and take care, Coffee and Vodka.

[01:14:57] Excellent stuff.

[01:14:59] Yeah, I totally with either Coffee and Vodka

[01:15:02] around the quick ending of Reense.

[01:15:05] It felt actually it put...

[01:15:10] Someone that was there as a big badge

[01:15:13] effectively in his places just being simply

[01:15:16] a puppet of the wider machinations

[01:15:20] and cogs that are going on in this world.

[01:15:23] Exactly.

[01:15:24] I know, in a sense, he is in consequential.

[01:15:28] Yeah, to some extent.

[01:15:30] Certainly now that he's cut his ties with his former boss.

[01:15:38] Cushes throat.

[01:15:39] Yes.

[01:15:40] Yes, lost his head.

[01:15:41] That's his former boss.

[01:15:42] Yes.

[01:15:43] Yeah, actually stuff, glad you enjoyed this one, Coffee and Vodka.

[01:15:45] Hopefully, made some sense of the episode as well for you.

[01:15:48] There was so much going on in the battles themselves

[01:15:51] and how much we'd lost.

[01:15:53] I do agree with you.

[01:15:54] This is one of the best episodes of the Witcher so far,

[01:15:57] but you can't do episodes like this

[01:15:58] without the buildup of course.

[01:15:59] And exactly as you said, that kind of long, slow buildup

[01:16:02] to something like this where you have a battle

[01:16:04] of three sides in this iconic location from the show

[01:16:08] has so much more to it because of what we've seen before.

[01:16:13] Everybody thinking that they're the smart ones

[01:16:14] that will have a plan to overthrow their enemies

[01:16:18] and then all stuck in a room firing

[01:16:22] bolts of punches and knives and everything at each other.

[01:16:26] And whoever comes out, who's the victor, I guess.

[01:16:31] No idea who the actual victor is other

[01:16:35] than Villeghivours and he's in a clotting tower right now.

[01:16:40] So yeah, I'm potentially in the north-guards

[01:16:44] because he's true.

[01:16:46] Yes, he's not there.

[01:16:48] He's not there.

[01:16:49] But he's just lost his right hand man.

[01:16:53] Yeah, yeah.

[01:16:54] He's as terrible as back and I'm trying to wait for him.

[01:16:56] Definitely.

[01:16:57] But he doesn't know that yet.

[01:16:58] Good stuff.

[01:16:59] Thanks, coffee and vodka.

[01:17:00] We also got a Facebook message from Dr. Bob Phillips who says,

[01:17:04] theory, the number of words in the episode title

[01:17:07] directly correlates with the volume of recognizable character.

[01:17:11] There you go.

[01:17:12] You might just be right there.

[01:17:14] You might be on something.

[01:17:15] And it was always going to end badly

[01:17:17] with a suspended ring of fire.

[01:17:20] But the complete destruction of the castle

[01:17:22] was not what I was expecting.

[01:17:24] Nor was the redemption through fire of struggle.

[01:17:27] I think the hidden monolith and series

[01:17:30] used of it confirmed my thinking but don't hit the fanfare yet.

[01:17:35] Thanks, Dr. Bob.

[01:17:36] Yes, well, I think your theory obviously

[01:17:39] does need to be tested here to see

[01:17:42] what happens to Siri and I say it Villeghivours as well.

[01:17:47] By the end of this.

[01:17:49] And with struggle, I guess it's a redemption.

[01:17:54] I didn't fully take it like that.

[01:17:56] I just felt his hatred for elves so much

[01:17:58] and they're attacking.

[01:18:00] He is in that moment willing to.

[01:18:03] I was guess help half elf off him and of Yennefer.

[01:18:08] But maybe he does see ultimately what ties us together

[01:18:14] is more than what separates us.

[01:18:16] But he's still happy enough to be sending

[01:18:20] the pureblood elves to hell.

[01:18:23] Yeah, but still I think it.

[01:18:25] It's a sacrifice for that.

[01:18:26] It's a sacrifice for that.

[01:18:27] I would say it's just one.

[01:18:29] And we say a sacrifice and I have said that in the summary

[01:18:33] and the synopsis but it is kind of like

[01:18:38] Yennefer survived using fire magic.

[01:18:42] So, Stredible could do it could be possibly

[01:18:46] he's been killed by Fringilla or whatever

[01:18:51] because we do see them making it out of the wreckage

[01:18:56] that of Aratusa.

[01:18:58] I think he's gone.

[01:19:00] I think he exploded in the use of fire

[01:19:02] about what he could come back and I'm not saying

[01:19:06] with the very terrifying fire.

[01:19:08] Oh yes, I'm saying a boof.

[01:19:11] And Francesca bringing it down.

[01:19:14] And I have to say, I just assumed it was an illusion.

[01:19:16] I didn't think and by doing that it was going to be real.

[01:19:21] But you're right the doctor Bob having that suspended.

[01:19:26] Yeah.

[01:19:27] Potentially high risk of an accident, I guess.

[01:19:30] Well, the same way as until we had electricity

[01:19:33] all the candles more fires in the house.

[01:19:36] That's true, that's true.

[01:19:37] But it wasn't just like a shandler-lear ring of fire.

[01:19:40] There was a purpose for it.

[01:19:41] It was a protection spell over the top of them that was

[01:19:45] surrounded in fire.

[01:19:46] I just wasn't all an mental cause it's there for the ball.

[01:19:49] Yeah.

[01:19:50] I thought it was part of the protection spell that I was talking to.

[01:19:52] So it was just, so the source was going,

[01:19:56] look at how great we are because we can do this kind of magic.

[01:19:59] OK, I think because they talked about

[01:20:02] yet putting the protection spell over Syria in the cottage,

[01:20:05] I think maybe I got confused that that fiery, cool thing

[01:20:09] that's sitting over a fiery recycle.

[01:20:11] It was sitting over there.

[01:20:12] I just felt a protection.

[01:20:13] Yeah, I just felt a decoration light candles on a Christmas tree.

[01:20:16] OK, and we took a lot of terrible ideas.

[01:20:19] Exactly.

[01:20:19] Which is, you know, as an aside,

[01:20:22] thank God for electric light bulbs going on the trees

[01:20:26] because how will the hell do you stop the Christmas tree

[01:20:29] from going on in flames?

[01:20:31] No idea.

[01:20:31] Make it yourself.

[01:20:32] You didn't leave them all overnight.

[01:20:33] No, definitely not.

[01:20:34] I didn't live until I burned down to their wicks and fall over.

[01:20:37] Christmas becomes like a fire.

[01:20:40] I'm scared, exactly.

[01:20:42] Well, what's the great fire of London, John?

[01:20:44] Was that a rank of Christmas time?

[01:20:46] Was it?

[01:20:47] I can't remember.

[01:20:48] I think it was what it was.

[01:20:49] No, it was a bakery.

[01:20:50] It wasn't the great fire of London.

[01:20:53] It was.

[01:20:53] It's the early thing I remember, but good stuff.

[01:20:55] Thanks, Dr. Bob.

[01:20:56] In terms of the words in the episode title,

[01:20:59] I think we've got 10 in this.

[01:21:01] I haven't came to them, but I think this 10 episode 10 words

[01:21:04] in the title of this episode.

[01:21:06] And we definitely lost roughly that many major named characters as well.

[01:21:10] So you could be right.

[01:21:12] We will be back with the next episode episode seven

[01:21:14] out of the fire into the frying pan, which also has quite a lot of words.

[01:21:17] That's so.

[01:21:18] Who else are we losing in the next episode?

[01:21:20] Absolutely.

[01:21:21] Was episode eight as well that we'll be covering

[01:21:23] is a few words a cost of chaos, yes.

[01:21:27] As well.

[01:21:28] Yes, so we will be covering those in our final part

[01:21:32] of the Witcher season three episode on TV podcast industries.

[01:21:38] Absolutely.

[01:21:39] We're also covering at the moment, good omens over on prime.

[01:21:43] Our first episode is up now and we will have the second episode

[01:21:47] out very shortly as well.

[01:21:50] And we'll be back in a galaxy far, far away with stars,

[01:21:54] a soka and as well.

[01:21:57] I with, straggable himself,

[01:21:59] laws, mickles and returning to play grand Admiral Throl.

[01:22:05] Yes, so if straggable is gone from the Witcher,

[01:22:07] at least we'll see him over in a second.

[01:22:09] Yes, it's tough.

[01:22:10] There's no reason why out of that in their genres because it's the first of August already.

[01:22:14] I know.

[01:22:15] So at the end of August,

[01:22:18] we get to watch Star Wars.

[01:22:19] Ah, soka.

[01:22:20] And we live time, fellow.

[01:22:22] We live time is the first of September,

[01:22:24] which is still a more that far,

[01:22:27] in the world.

[01:22:28] But there's two episodes of Soka coming at us at the end of August,

[01:22:31] so we'll have two on very about at least for two days before we

[01:22:35] have time.

[01:22:36] So exactly exactly.

[01:22:38] We've had lots of stuff going on this half of the year.

[01:22:41] And as you mentioned, two three shows that we're that

[01:22:43] recovered the moment, we just finished our coverage of a secret invasion as well.

[01:22:46] So lots of stuff to listen to on TV podcast industries as well.

[01:22:50] Hope you're enjoying following along with us.

[01:22:52] And thanks so much for joining us for our podcast about the Witcher so far.
