VisionQuest Episode 1 No Strings and Episode 2 Theseus Synopsis
Vision Character Created by Roy Thomas and artist John Buscema
Creator and Showrunner: Terry Matalas
Episode 1 and 2 Written by: Terry Matalas
Episode 1 and 2 Directed by: Christopher J. Byrne
Episode 1 - No Strings
Years after the events in Westview, the original but rebooted Vision has returned to Edinburgh in Scotland.
He works in a local pub, attempting to learn how to interact with humans the way his former self did. In his down time, he lives in a virtual space where he is aided by a new family, all of Stark Industries former A.I. helpers, JARVIS, FRIDAY, U, DUM-E and EDITH. But in the attic of their virtual home he keeps his megalomaniacal father Ultron.
Ultron learns that someone has put a hit on Vision and, bored with his mediocre existence, Ultron leaks the location to the bounty hunter Paladin.
But, unable to kill Vision on his first attempt, Paladin and his handler access the SWORD files relating to the Westview incident. They learn about a boy called Thomas Sheppard who claims to be the son of Wanda Maximoff and Vision.
Paladin kidnaps the impossible boy and threatens to kill him if Vision doesn't turn himself in.
In episode 2 - Theseus
A year ago, Thomas Sheppard was arrested after an incident to police in London. He has memories that can't exist of a time when he was the son of a witch and a robot. But, unable or unwilling to help him they send him to a St. Mabyn's Sanatorium.
On the transfer bus to the heavily guarded facility, Tommy meets kleptomaniac Lisa, The two quickly hit it off and, working together, they escape the bus and their fate.
In the present day, Paladin lays a trap for Vision by placing the kidnapped Tommy in the same prison hospital and inviting him to save his son.
Spurred on by Ultron and over confidence in his vibranium body, Vision walks into the trap taking out Paladin's mercenaries and saving Tommy.
Despite Paladin being prepared with Adamantium bullets, Vision just about escapes with his life. But the damage caused by the bullets almost leads to his death until JARVIS offers up his life to save the other A.I.s.
With questions still needing to be answered, Tommy returns with a car to escape with Vision and his passenger Ultron.

00:47 --> 00:47 [DARCY LEWIS]: You belong together.
01:20 --> 01:23 [DEREK]: Welcome back fellow Defenders to TV Podcast Industries.
01:23 --> 01:33 [DEREK]: This time we are talking about Vision Quest, the first two episodes came out today, and we're going to talk about episode 1, no strings, and episode 2, Theseus, I am one of your host's Derek.
01:34 --> 01:39 [JOHN]: Hello there fellow Defenders, yes, welcome back, I'm one of your other host, John.
01:40 --> 01:43 [CHRIS]: and rounding out the marvelous trio, I am Chris.
01:43 --> 01:45 [DEREK]: Welcome back, everybody.
01:45 --> 01:47 [DEREK]: It's nice to be here for a pretty special one here.
01:48 --> 01:50 [DEREK]: This is the new series from Disney+.
01:50 --> 01:59 [DEREK]: Plus, closing out the newly-named trilogy of shows which started with WandaVision continued with Agatha All Along and here is closing out with Vision Quest.
02:00 --> 02:08 [DEREK]: And also quite special for us because the first Marvel movie that we ever covered on our Marvel podcast was Avengers Age of Ultron, which was the birth.
02:09 --> 02:12 [DEREK]: of this character and of Ultron as well as Vision.
02:12 --> 02:15 [DEREK]: So kind of cool to be wrapping it all up in this season.
02:15 --> 02:18 [JOHN]: And the death of another character in here as well.
02:18 --> 02:19 [JOHN]: Jarvis.
02:19 --> 02:20 [DEREK]: Yes, that's true.
02:20 --> 02:20 [DEREK]: Yes.
02:21 --> 02:26 [JOHN]: So, which synthetic AI do you sort of connect with here?
02:26 --> 02:29 [JOHN]: Who think is your synthetic equivalent?
02:29 --> 02:33 [JOHN]: DUM-E, U, Edith.
02:33 --> 02:36 [DEREK]: I thought you talked to me directly as the characters there.
02:36 --> 02:37 [DEREK]: Dummy, you,
02:37 --> 02:38 [JOHN]: I quite liked Edith.
02:39 --> 02:40 [DEREK]: Edith was fantastic, yes.
02:40 --> 02:42 [DEREK]: Great to see her in live action.
02:43 --> 02:45 [CHRIS]: I would say I'm a girl Friday.
02:46 --> 02:46 [DEREK]: Yes, you're Friday.
02:46 --> 02:47 [CHRIS]: Yeah, that's I'm Friday.
02:47 --> 02:48 [CHRIS]: I'm a Friday.
02:48 --> 02:53 [CHRIS]: I'd love to say I'm something suave like an Edith it or actually. No. No
02:53 --> 02:54 [JOHN]: Edith is not suave.
02:55 --> 02:56 [CHRIS]: I don't.
02:56 --> 02:56 [CHRIS]: Hey, cool.
02:56 --> 02:58 [CHRIS]: She's race car driving.
02:58 --> 02:58 [JOHN]: Uh-huh.
02:58 --> 02:58 [CHRIS]: Parachuting
02:59 --> 03:00 [CHRIS]: Yeah.
03:00 --> 03:01 [CHRIS]: Um, no, no.
03:01 --> 03:05 [CHRIS]: I am very much either a Friday or I am a dummy.
03:07 --> 03:08 [DEREK]: Aw, Chris.
03:08 --> 03:11 [CHRIS]: Dum E, DUM E gets stuff done.
03:11 --> 03:14 [CHRIS]: He does say that's all about, he got to get stuff done.
03:14 --> 03:15 [DEREK]: He's maintenance robot, though, Chris.
03:16 --> 03:18 [DEREK]: He's like, he's like the captain of the MCU.
03:19 --> 03:22 [JOHN]: And that's how he doesn't speak, though.
03:22 --> 03:24 [DEREK]: It should be really useless as a podcast.
03:24 --> 03:28 [DEREK]: No, but I have to have either, any one of the characters that speak would be.
03:28 --> 03:29 [JOHN]: No, it is Chris.
03:29 --> 03:33 [JOHN]: Chris is a maintenance system because he's OCD, sort of clean and all.
03:37 --> 03:40 [CHRIS]: openly cleaning domesticated.
03:41 --> 03:41 [DEREK]: I love it.
03:42 --> 03:42 [DEREK]: I'm pretty.
03:43 --> 03:47 [DEREK]: I think I'm probably more of a Jarvis than the rest of the characters.
03:47 --> 03:51 [DEREK]: I think the original and the one that tells everybody else.
03:51 --> 03:52 [DEREK]: Well, I've been here longer.
03:52 --> 03:57 [DEREK]: So I know what however they work and then doesn't last forever.
03:57 --> 03:58 [DEREK]: Yes.
03:58 --> 03:59 [DEREK]: We're going to disappoint.
03:59 --> 04:00 [JOHN]: Yes, Derek.
04:00 --> 04:03 [JOHN]: You are just a rather very intelligent system.
04:04 --> 04:18 [DEREK]: Yes, we, while in my research for this episode, I did pull out the names of all of these characters and what they actually were at the titles that they were given, because most of the AI's that Tony Stark invented had were acronyms in their name.
04:19 --> 04:22 [DEREK]: So Jarvis is just a rather very intelligent system.
04:22 --> 04:26 [DEREK]: Friday was female replacement intelligent digital assistant youth.
04:27 --> 04:33 [DEREK]: It's the one that he plugged into his suit at the end of age of ultra and just had a tag does Friday.
04:33 --> 04:40 [DEREK]: Edith was the one that was in the the sunglasses that he left behind after he died for Peter Pracker and that that was even dead.
04:40 --> 04:41 [DEREK]: I'm the hero.
04:41 --> 04:45 [DEREK]: That was the acronym because he wanted to prove to Peter even after dying.
04:46 --> 04:47 [DEREK]: He was more important, which I like.
04:47 --> 04:48 [JOHN]: I like Edith.
04:49 --> 04:58 [JOHN]: Because I think it's in less of Edith so it's kind of good just seeing how sort of kooky she was yeah Yeah, she is probably me, but I'm probably also all strong.
04:59 --> 05:07 [DEREK]: Yeah, I think and I think in the in the movie wasn't either play by Jennifer Connelly and there is yes That's the one I think trying to think
05:08 --> 05:10 [DEREK]: Oh, no, that was in the first, that was in the homecoming.
05:10 --> 05:14 [DEREK]: Sorry, Edith was in the second day, I thought he had far from home.
05:14 --> 05:15 [DEREK]: That's right, that's right.
05:16 --> 05:17 [DEREK]: So I can't remember who she's played by.
05:17 --> 05:23 [DEREK]: Anyway, and those are the major characters we are going to get into detail and spoiler-filled detail on the episodes.
05:24 --> 05:29 [DEREK]: But if you haven't subscribed to the podcast, don't if you're joining us for the first time, pop on over to our website at tvpodcastindustries.com.

06:18 --> 06:23 [JOHN]: Yes, it is going to be the old Selkhi pub quiz as well.
06:24 --> 06:35 [JOHN]: Yes, we're taking that as the pub quiz name given that we see the old Selkhi here, and the pub or the in that vision is working in with Fiona Guthrie.
06:36 --> 06:36 [JOHN]: Yes.
06:36 --> 06:38 [JOHN]: The landlady, do you get sir?
06:39 --> 06:46 [DEREK]: Yes, quite a lot of the scenes play place in the old Tsuki and it took us ages to work out what the hell that's out because we didn't know what the word even meant.
06:47 --> 06:49 [DEREK]: It's seal in Scott's Gaelic and yes.
06:50 --> 07:02 [CHRIS]: Yes, but wasn't it also the silky was a folklorian tailed kind of seahorse beast thing, which just turned out to be seals.
07:03 --> 07:08 [JOHN]: Yeah, that's exactly it, and so yeah, I think that's quite a good little name.
07:08 --> 07:13 [JOHN]: We have the Rushville Redneck there recently for Lansons.
07:14 --> 07:15 [JOHN]: Great to guess.
07:15 --> 07:17 [JOHN]: The old Selki Pope quiz going.
07:18 --> 07:18 [DEREK]: Yes, yes.
07:18 --> 07:21 [DEREK]: Well, I'm sure that'll be up on our website.
07:21 --> 07:25 [DEREK]: Each of the questions will be available there over in TV podcasts industries and after these episodes released as well.
07:26 --> 07:29 [DEREK]: And I think we should get into our chat all about these two episodes, guys.
07:30 --> 07:30 [JOHN]: Absolutely.
07:32 --> 07:32 [JOHN]: Thank you.
07:32 --> 07:38 [JOHN]: What are some of the episode details for these two episodes that we're covering?
07:39 --> 07:43 [JOHN]: Episode one, no strings, and episode two, thesis.
07:43 --> 07:48 [DEREK]: Well, the show was created for TV by Terry Masellis, the show we're in for the show, in other words.
07:49 --> 07:53 [DEREK]: We know him from his show running for three seasons of Star Trek Picard, he is a...
07:54 --> 08:18 [DEREK]: right here on an executive producer of many many shows out there and this is based on vision created by Tony Stark Breaksbauer and brought a live by Thor in native old John I guess yes but really of course created by where Thomas and artists jump a shaming at character first appeared back in the Avengers number 57 so a pretty early character for the Avengers an executive producer for the show are Kevin Feige, Louis Guestido, Brad Winterbam
08:19 --> 08:30 [DEREK]: Mary Lavenos, Terry Metales, Jack Shaffer and Christopher Jay Burn, this episode on both of the episodes actually were written by Terry Metales the first two and both episodes were directed by Christopher Jay Burn.
08:30 --> 08:39 [DEREK]: He was the second unit director on Star Trek Discovery and the last of us which we covered here in TV podcast industries and recently directed three episodes of Fendation on Apple TV as well.
08:39 --> 08:41 [DEREK]: Oh, I really need to watch.
08:41 --> 08:46 [CHRIS]: Yeah, I thought that's one of the stuff that's like a blind spot that I'm like I know I need to watch it.
08:46 --> 08:52 [CHRIS]: I know I will love it's a space opera epic and I'm like All those words are amazing.
08:52 --> 08:54 [CHRIS]: It's just I'm like oh, there's so many episodes.
08:55 --> 08:55 [CHRIS]: I'm so far by
08:56 --> 09:01 [JOHN]: Like we've we've seen the first one and it's hardcore sci-fi but I do like it.
09:01 --> 09:02 [JOHN]: You love to do it.
09:02 --> 09:02 [JOHN]: Yeah.
09:02 --> 09:02 [JOHN]: Yeah.
09:03 --> 09:04 [DEREK]: Derek won't let me watch you now.
09:04 --> 09:10 [DEREK]: You have a little taster and yeah we will eventually go back for the drug that is Apple TV when I have a bit of money to it.
09:11 --> 09:12 [DEREK]: Subscribe to Apple TV.
09:13 --> 09:37 [DEREK]: I think I can get the seven days subscription, but you can't get into enough for free, but I can't get into enough episodes in seven days We can break one of John's legs I have to be at home with the couch and he can do nothing but watch it for seven days straight Thank you Chris, we tried we tried that I would broke my ankle at the beginning of the year and I didn't get to watch enough of this stuff Last of breaking my leg.
09:37 --> 09:37 [DEREK]: Yes.
09:37 --> 09:37 [DEREK]: Yes.
09:37 --> 09:39 [DEREK]: Last of that no threats to holidays.
09:39 --> 09:40 [DEREK]: I think you're in the west
09:42 --> 09:48 [DEREK]: But John, do you want to tell us what they gave us with your synopsis for the first two episodes episode one no strings in episode two this is sure
09:50 --> 09:55 [JOHN]: Years after the events in Westview, the original but rebooted vision has returned to Edinburgh in Scotland.
09:56 --> 10:01 [JOHN]: He works in a local pub attempting to learn how to interact with humans the way his former self did.
10:02 --> 10:14 [JOHN]: In his downtime, he lives in a virtual space where he is aided by a new family, all of stark industries former AI helpers, Jarvis, Friday, you, dummy, and Edith.
10:14 --> 10:20 [JOHN]: but in the attic of the virtual home, he keeps his megalo maniacal father Ultron.
10:21 --> 10:33 [JOHN]: Ultron learns that so on has put a hit on vision and falls with his mediocre existence Ultron leaks the location to the bounty hunter Paladin via Carrier Pigeon, aka email.
10:34 --> 10:42 [JOHN]: But unable to kill Vision on his first attempt, Paladin and his handler access the sword files relating to the Westview incident.
10:42 --> 10:48 [JOHN]: They learn about a boy called Thomas Shepherd who claims to be the son of Wondermaxamoth and Vision.
10:49 --> 10:55 [JOHN]: Paladin kidnaps the impossible boy and threatens to kill him if Vision doesn't turn himself in.
10:55 --> 11:02 [JOHN]: In episode 2, a year ago Thomas Shefford was arrested after an incident to police in London.
11:02 --> 11:13 [JOHN]: He has memories that can't exist of a time when he was the son of a witch and a robot, but unable or unwilling to help him, they sent him to St. Mayburn's sanatorium.
11:14 --> 11:20 [JOHN]: On the transfer bus to the heavily guarded facility, Tommy meets Kleptomaniac Lisa.
11:20 --> 11:25 [JOHN]: The two quickly hit it off and, working together, they escape the bus and their fate.
11:26 --> 11:35 [JOHN]: In the present day, Paladin lays a trap for vision by placing the kidnapped Tommy in the same prison hospital and inviting him to save his son.
11:35 --> 11:44 [JOHN]: spurred on by Ultron and overconfidence in his vibranium body, visual walks into the trap taking out Paladin's mercenaries and saving Tommy.
11:45 --> 11:54 [JOHN]: Despite Paladin being prepared with adamantium bullets, vision just about escapes with his life, but the damage caused by the bullets almost leads to his death.
11:54 --> 12:00 [JOHN]: until Jarvis offers up his processing powers, or his life, to save the other AI's.
12:01 --> 12:08 [JOHN]: With questions still needing to be answered, Tommy returns with a car to escape with vision and his passenger, Ultron.
12:08 --> 12:14 [DEREK]: What I love about these two episodes is the amount of times you could say, with a little push from Ultron, a little encouragement from Ultron.
12:15 --> 12:18 [JOHN]: In the background, he's quite an active figure, you've made not unscreated.
12:19 --> 12:19 [JOHN]: Yeah, absolutely.
12:19 --> 12:28 [JOHN]: And I have to say, like, oh my goodness, James Pader's voice is like hypnotic.
12:28 --> 12:34 [JOHN]: Even if he's just saying regular stuff, it's really kind of draws you in, like, it's mental.
12:34 --> 12:38 [DEREK]: It is, you know, even more so than when you watch a Jibaldron.
12:39 --> 12:45 [DEREK]: Watch a game on screen here, playing the character will try to go in and out why the cast that didn't do that voice because it's so powerful.
12:45 --> 12:51 [JOHN]: You should do every advert now for the rest of time, and I'd buy it, I'll just keep buying it.
12:52 --> 13:01 [DEREK]: Well, maybe we'll find out as persuasive skills throughout this series, or I'll have led to quite a few things, so I guess he's got this persuasive skills in his voice.
13:01 --> 13:13 [CHRIS]: James Bader, like that man, he was from Boston, legal all the way through him versus William Schottner was probably the the most fun that people who ever had on Saturday on the time.
13:13 --> 13:13 [CHRIS]: Yeah.
13:14 --> 13:26 [CHRIS]: Now we get him versus Paul Bettney trying to do that sophisticated, high brow, intellectual discussion, and then you're getting to wait.
13:27 --> 13:30 [CHRIS]: Wait, I need to repeat that for me one more time.
13:31 --> 13:36 [CHRIS]: I'm like, yeah, just say it again, but yeah, no, absolutely fantastic.
13:36 --> 13:45 [CHRIS]: And I can't wait to see how much of a, how much mischief he can get in, I think that is as the kind of episodes take a lot.
13:45 --> 13:53 [DEREK]: Absolutely, I've definitely got it to a fair bit of mischief at these two episodes, which we will talk about as we get into our code lines for our episode.
13:53 --> 13:58 [DEREK]: We'll talk about our top five code lines for these first two episodes of VisionQuest.
13:58 --> 14:00 [DEREK]: Let's kick it off for the first code line.
14:01 --> 14:05 [DEREK]: Vision back in Edinburgh, our opening sequence of the episode.
14:05 --> 14:11 [DEREK]: We have a bit of voiceover from Vision explaining who he is, where he comes from before he takes the stage, which I do like.
14:12 --> 14:16 [JOHN]: It's a good little potter's history of vision to be honest.
14:16 --> 14:17 [JOHN]: Yeah.
14:17 --> 14:17 [JOHN]: I liked it.
14:18 --> 14:20 [JOHN]: That's how you do a synopsis.
14:20 --> 14:21 [JOHN]: John, remember that?
14:21 --> 14:21 [JOHN]: Yes.
14:21 --> 14:26 [JOHN]: Because it was a good little potter's history of vision.
14:26 --> 14:33 [JOHN]: You know, if I kind of go back to TV birth, it's like part of history in a nutshell.
14:34 --> 14:48 [DEREK]: It is very much explaining where you came from, loved the whole lead through of how we got each of the AI characters and now form a part of his part of his new family, which is really interesting.
14:48 --> 14:53 [DEREK]: We've got you and Dome who were the former assistants robots of Tony Stark.
14:53 --> 15:01 [DEREK]: I can just picture the assistant robot with the Duns cap on his head and that's what's this Dome character that's there in the background.
15:04 --> 15:16 [DEREK]: One of my favorite comedy shows that goes wrong show and interestingly there are also two of the three creators that show as well So we'll see more of them as the season goes on, which is which is always fun But they are very quiet and then the background.
15:16 --> 15:18 [DEREK]: Yes, very much for comedy actors.
15:18 --> 15:19 [CHRIS]: Yeah.
15:19 --> 15:25 [CHRIS]: I get the feeling that at some point It's somewhere throughout the season.
15:25 --> 15:29 [CHRIS]: One of them and and or both will come out with some really
15:34 --> 15:37 [CHRIS]: Oh my god, they're so in like they're hyper intelligent.
15:38 --> 15:43 [DEREK]: Yeah, I don't if either of them will it has to be the one the Tony Stark Chris and tell me He has to be the more intelligent.
15:43 --> 15:45 [DEREK]: Oh, absolutely.
15:45 --> 15:53 [JOHN]: I mean, yeah, definitely I'm kind of looking forward to hearing them speak, but yes, certainly much more in the background at the moment
15:53 --> 16:01 [DEREK]: And when I do like a little inside joke, if you have seen the Ghost Wrong show, both of those characters are characters that everybody wants to keep silent.
16:01 --> 16:06 [DEREK]: One because he always gets his lines wrong and the other one because he tries to take over all of the plays.
16:06 --> 16:08 [DEREK]: So I do like that in here for two episodes.
16:08 --> 16:12 [DEREK]: They haven't had any lines at all, which would make the rest of the cast of those shows very happy.
16:14 --> 16:17 [DEREK]: Good stuff for that's two of the two of the characters we talked about the rest of the family.
16:17 --> 16:30 [DEREK]: I'm sure as we go on, but I do love the idea here that After the events of one division, we haven't seen vision, this version of them, the white vision, the original body, but not what rebooted now and doesn't have the memories.
16:31 --> 16:36 [DEREK]: or the experience of the vision that was in one division or beforehand.
16:37 --> 16:46 [DEREK]: But he's come back to Edinburgh because that's where himself and a wonder were based while they were on leave from the Avengers after Civil War.
16:46 --> 16:55 [DEREK]: So he's come back to try and see if he can piece together some of the life that the previous vision had and maybe learn how to be more human and connect with humans.
16:57 --> 17:05 [CHRIS]: Yeah, as we learn, he has all the memories, but he just doesn't understand them.
17:06 --> 17:11 [CHRIS]: And that's a common theme throughout these two episodes, kind of, is that like, yeah, no, I get it.
17:11 --> 17:19 [CHRIS]: I understand where I come from, but I have no feeling for any of these people places, animals or things.
17:19 --> 17:23 [CHRIS]: It's just, I have no connection, I have no history.
17:23 --> 17:35 [CHRIS]: Yeah, and it's more prevalent in the second episode, but yeah, now definitely going to Edinburgh you're like, especially just the W Plus V in the heart.
17:35 --> 17:43 [CHRIS]: Like, he looks at it and just I was expecting him kind of almost like phase through and scratch it out or something or just is getting
17:48 --> 17:51 [DEREK]: All right, but we do learn that he has has been developing this.
17:51 --> 18:05 [DEREK]: This is exactly what he's been trying to do is learn these emotions, learn the connections that Vision had, so yes, so he doesn't have the connection to that bit of graffiti or a bit of bit of the love heart that's on the table, there's another connection with it.
18:05 --> 18:10 [DEREK]: He's trying to learn why that vision would have felt the need to do that, or the wants to do that.
18:11 --> 18:12 [DEREK]: And so I kind of like that.
18:12 --> 18:18 [DEREK]: I like that he's has the conversation with the with the bar owner that's there It's go three.
18:18 --> 18:18 [DEREK]: This is go three.
18:18 --> 18:25 [DEREK]: Yeah, the relationships which has with that he has with her I love that she's kind of going you are all but I kind of like that because there's no one you in the world
18:26 --> 18:45 [JOHN]: Absolutely, there are some really, really good, like things in this because I do like when he's like going smiles of baffling and too much and the customer thinks you're trying to get it on basically with his wife and you know these conversations between
18:46 --> 18:47 [JOHN]: him and Mrs. Guthrie.
18:48 --> 19:07 [JOHN]: It's just really nice because it just lends itself into you trying to figure something out but then some things then suddenly kind of take you out and I think you know intentionally so on this kind of like warm fuzzy trip down memory lane were you know a little bit later you know
19:08 --> 19:23 [JOHN]: Fiona got three years shot and killed and there's a moment back in his mind construct and where he's like going yes her death was tragic but I didn't know her to know it's it's no
19:25 --> 19:34 [JOHN]: Because he's trying to figure it out he's still keeping this really sort of objective distance from everything and that's the thing is I can recognize my past.
19:34 --> 19:42 [JOHN]: He has another line which I can understand what I've done but I don't understand the feelings behind it or the emotions.
19:42 --> 19:43 [JOHN]: It's time to go to the fast.
19:43 --> 19:44 [DEREK]: You know, exactly.
19:44 --> 19:45 [DEREK]: Yeah.
19:45 --> 19:49 [DEREK]: There's no coincidence here that all of these characters are called AI.
19:49 --> 19:58 [DEREK]: There is definitely a commentary on the fact that AI might have all of the information of its fingertips but has no, none of the emotion behind it and has no connection to it as humans would.
19:59 --> 20:04 [DEREK]: That's the very basic underlying thoughts behind the show itself.
20:05 --> 20:11 [DEREK]: can vision to learn to be more human without the presence of a witch at a side.
20:12 --> 20:12 [DEREK]: Exactly.
20:13 --> 20:14 [JOHN]: Or more like vision.
20:15 --> 20:21 [JOHN]: Because that is another interesting thing around this, this notion of
20:22 --> 20:32 [JOHN]: the science, but also the magic, the mystery, the monsters, the wizards, the witches, that's kind of brought up here as well.
20:32 --> 20:41 [JOHN]: Even in that potted history where, you know, describes, I was synthetic, but I chose to protect humanity and through that, it made me love.
20:42 --> 20:42 [JOHN]: I wonder.
20:43 --> 20:48 [JOHN]: So, yeah, just that kind of notion that vision was transcending something,
20:52 --> 21:00 [JOHN]: didn't necessarily get that other aspect of what Vision had, I guess.
21:00 --> 21:00 [JOHN]: Exactly.
21:00 --> 21:01 [DEREK]: It's only five years old.
21:02 --> 21:02 [DEREK]: Yeah, exactly.
21:02 --> 21:04 [DEREK]: What took a time to learn emotion?
21:04 --> 21:06 [JOHN]: And he's been hiding in the pantry of a port.
21:06 --> 21:06 [JOHN]: Oh, exactly.
21:07 --> 21:12 [JOHN]: I do kind of like the idea that he just locks himself in the pantry next to the potatoes.
21:14 --> 21:29 [JOHN]: And then kind of goes into his little mind construct which is really good and I think you know Given this is a bit of you know that the third installment of You know one division Agatha all along and now
21:30 --> 21:39 [JOHN]: you know, this all dealing with separate realities and really, I like that trilogy that's come about here from these shows.
21:39 --> 21:44 [DEREK]: It really just feel like there's a connection between the three of the three of them, at least in the first episode, I've had this, um,
21:45 --> 22:03 [DEREK]: different outside of the regular world, the different world outside of it, obviously, Westview and one division where she was on TV and black and white, and the first episode I thought along where she was in a cop drama, until she was cleared of that and then went to the witches' road, and then this one here where he's inside his mind constructs.
22:04 --> 22:11 [DEREK]: And before we move on, I'll add the first point just, let's talk about the Minecraft structure a little bit and some of the other characters are in there.
22:11 --> 22:19 [DEREK]: So we have Jarvis who's been brought back, the first ever version of the AI that we saw back in Iron Man 1, 2 and 3.
22:21 --> 22:45 [DEREK]: Up until Age of Ultron effectively, that was the AI voice in the butt in the, in the suits of Iron Man, and now he's playing the security protocol AI for vision, and played once again by James Darcy, another one of our favorites, MCU actors, who's been around since ancient Carter, and was in Avengers Endgame recently, which we just saw this in the, playing the character of Jarvis again, Jarvis.
22:46 --> 22:49 [CHRIS]: Yeah, and he's forever the journalist here, he is playing a job as AI.
22:50 --> 22:50 [DEREK]: Absolutely.
22:50 --> 22:52 [DEREK]: You have to have him back.
22:52 --> 22:57 [DEREK]: And then, of course, you have Friday who is giving all the guidance and connection to humanity.
22:57 --> 23:02 [DEREK]: She's monitoring visions progress and giving him feedback every time he comes back in.
23:02 --> 23:05 [JOHN]: Absolutely, your socialization was up 3.8%.
23:06 --> 23:08 [JOHN]: I just really like that.
23:09 --> 23:11 [CHRIS]: Katai, why do you feel sometimes?
23:11 --> 23:16 [CHRIS]: I just got into the office of the day, and like, to the doing of talking to people now, I don't know what to say.
23:16 --> 23:19 [CHRIS]: My socialization is down.
23:20 --> 23:24 [DEREK]: You were wearing your earphones for the moment you arrived in the launch left work, your socialization is 10-10%.
23:27 --> 23:29 [CHRIS]: That's that, honestly, that would work for me.
23:29 --> 23:30 [CHRIS]: You gave a fight.
23:30 --> 23:35 [CHRIS]: My actual stats like that, I'd be like, yeah, okay, I need to work out with socialization tomorrow.
23:35 --> 23:35 [DEREK]: There you go, Chris.
23:35 --> 23:36 [CHRIS]: Keep it up in the green.
23:36 --> 23:41 [DEREK]: We now have the new version of Google Fist, Google Mental Fist, maybe I think we could have.
23:43 --> 23:56 [DEREK]: And then as well as Friday, we also have Edith in there, the fun, the fun-loving AI who's at their two experience, all that life has to offer and try and offer a vision away to experience humans through fun, in fact, yes, exactly.
23:56 --> 23:59 [JOHN]: Yeah, I just think they're all really good.
23:59 --> 24:00 [JOHN]: I love this.
24:01 --> 24:05 [JOHN]: notion of an extended AI synthetic family here in his head.
24:06 --> 24:13 [JOHN]: I mean, even Ultron as well, sort of locked up upstairs in his mind space as well.
24:13 --> 24:14 [JOHN]: Yeah.
24:14 --> 24:17 [JOHN]: But I love that they all know he's up there.
24:17 --> 24:26 [JOHN]: It's like the it is the monster upstairs, you know, and he's like one day he's going to smother us like this is kind of impending threat from upstairs.
24:26 --> 24:27 [JOHN]: The one thing I
24:30 --> 24:50 [JOHN]: maybe it was just me but you know that in inception when they go through the dream layers and it's in that type of elevator going down yeah and this is going I was kind of like is this kind of almost like it's the it's the elevator of difference synthetic whatever um I don't know like some kind of dreams thing yeah maybe
24:51 --> 24:53 [JOHN]: from a processor point of view.
24:53 --> 25:00 [JOHN]: And it's just because there's a few movie references and thrown into these first couple of episodes.
25:00 --> 25:02 [DEREK]: Like a developer, I don't know, sorry.
25:02 --> 25:02 [JOHN]: I mean, no, no.
25:02 --> 25:04 [JOHN]: Like there's a mission impossible one.
25:04 --> 25:05 [JOHN]: Yes, sir.
25:05 --> 25:08 [JOHN]: And there's a silence of the lambs one.
25:08 --> 25:14 [JOHN]: So it's kind of, and I just saw, like the old fashion lift with the metal sort of,
25:15 --> 25:25 [JOHN]: Rack-type doors and it was like just reminded me a little bit of inception going into a different sort of level of And maybe in this case, it's just a threat.
25:25 --> 25:28 [JOHN]: Yeah, but yeah, I thought it was really good.
25:28 --> 25:28 [JOHN]: Very good.
25:28 --> 25:28 [JOHN]: Yes.
25:29 --> 25:30 [JOHN]: Yeah, really good.
25:30 --> 25:31 [CHRIS]: No, I'm like you guys absolutely loved it
25:32 --> 25:57 [CHRIS]: One piece that we haven't touched on with very quickly is that Jarvis is considered to be visions older brother as part of this construct and it's very cute and it's called through multiple times up until the end as being the the first born and the old the eldest, et cetera, et cetera and it's a it's a fun play and it kind of does
25:58 --> 26:22 [CHRIS]: we talked about the synthetic kind of AI family that is being built and there's a fantastic comic book about the vision and the vision family where it's the vision, his dog, his wife, and his two kids and all constructs all synthetic like himself and the door to the house
26:23 --> 26:31 [CHRIS]: Looks very similar and has the visions set this one just says vision exactly on its door and it's just it's so
26:34 --> 26:54 [CHRIS]: want to say playful like they they've done such a terrible matrices on such a clever thing about tying a lot of this back to one division where we had this old in 60s kind of different era maybe I'm wrong in the era but that just slightly
26:55 --> 27:14 [CHRIS]: not present day, kind of feeling to the decor, to the style, and you can see that in the architecture, you can see that in that way the house is put together and just then you see it with the with Jarvis, with Dominion their suits and their overalls with Friday.
27:15 --> 27:16 [CHRIS]: They all kind of just
27:19 --> 27:27 [CHRIS]: similar to way vision is where he has like an overcrowded and he's sitting reading a paper and he's just like the smoking jacket almost.
27:27 --> 27:33 [DEREK]: Although I do some of the papers from adult matrix printer, it's not a new paper, it looks like it's just been printed off for him.
27:33 --> 27:35 [CHRIS]: It was a great idea.
27:35 --> 27:38 [JOHN]: I think Ultron calls it this silly side.
27:39 --> 27:46 [JOHN]: Ikea and so infused Ikea when he when he's talking about the deco which is quite good.
27:46 --> 27:57 [JOHN]: I like some of the you know the fire is just a beautiful yeah it's like a gift exactly and really some nice touches here.
27:57 --> 28:10 [DEREK]: Absolutely, but even the plant side side, the trees side are all in the shape of pipe work from the old winders, pipes, the screen saver if you remember back in those days.
28:10 --> 28:16 [DEREK]: Everything's just a little bit off because it's been created in the mind of an android rather than being actually created.
28:16 --> 28:27 [DEREK]: I love the conversation that's had about artwork in there where Ultron is talking to Vision saying do you see all the art you see all the beauty in the art and you're saying I see the brushstrokes and that's kind of it.
28:27 --> 28:38 [DEREK]: That's the difference between the two of them Ultron's a bit more advanced in his I as we know from from from his movie, but Vision just can't see beyond the basics.
28:38 --> 28:45 [DEREK]: Can't see beyond what's directly presented in front of him What he's trying to learn from his interactions around him is to see beyond the basics right so
28:46 --> 28:49 [DEREK]: So yeah, that's a I guess going to be the story of the series with that.
28:49 --> 29:08 [DEREK]: Let's get on to our code line number two then I don't have a buzzer or anything I should have that the typing cast Or a Dan Morgan because that's all she doesn't think of us as just type away and keep words at great fun
29:10 --> 29:14 [DEREK]: Our code line number two is Ultron returns to wreck everything.
29:14 --> 29:30 [DEREK]: We talked about Ultron a little bit, but I wanted to really focus on them in these episodes because as I mentioned after the snaps are there, the amount of times Ultron was in the background just kind of pushing people to do things, including Jarvis, and really interestingly we find out that
29:31 --> 29:45 [DEREK]: He's been sitting upstairs, bored, he's locked away from everything and he finds a way to get an email out into the world to alerts people who have put out a hit on vision and haven't been able to find of for potentially five years.
29:45 --> 29:49 [DEREK]: He sends an email out in the world to give them visions location just to change things up.
29:49 --> 29:50 [DEREK]: Yes.
29:52 --> 29:53 [JOHN]: I love this, I have to say.
29:53 --> 30:17 [JOHN]: I mean, I think ultimately with James Spade, he could have said anything, I really liked how his dialogue, like in some cases, really kind of poignant or meaningful, like he says in the first episode, you know, humans are relentlessly aspirational as he's talking with vision about, you know,
30:17 --> 30:24 [JOHN]: because he's shown him the sword classified files and visions asked for me and you well who's done that?
30:24 --> 30:35 [JOHN]: They just kind of point up stirs and he cuts, so he goes up really really angry and he says that whether they're relentlessly aspirational while they're in their misery, you know, what?
30:36 --> 30:36 [JOHN]: and like you say.
30:37 --> 30:49 [JOHN]: When he asks him what you see in the artwork, it's like the mathematics of the brushstrokes or the luminosity of the light and all this kind of thing, not their grief anger or hurt.
30:49 --> 31:00 [JOHN]: And it's like, it's really good, but then on the flip side of that, there's that moment where he's shouting off the balcony because the food has come cold for 40 minutes later.
31:00 --> 31:02 [JOHN]: And when he looks at it, a bit later he goes,
31:02 --> 31:05 [JOHN]: Sesame chicken calzone.
31:06 --> 31:14 [JOHN]: He's like, he's just absolutely disgusted at what he's kind of read as this new kind of, that's just for this calzoney.
31:15 --> 31:17 [JOHN]: And whilst he's in this kind of prison.
31:18 --> 31:23 [JOHN]: And you know, even just with the art aspect, he says, well, what?
31:23 --> 31:27 [JOHN]: I think Vision asks him, well, what would you do if you were among them?
31:27 --> 31:37 [JOHN]: It goes, but visit the Louvre or the Met or the Prado, or I would hijack their missile systems and destroy them and it was just like, it was just, it's a coin 35.
31:37 --> 31:45 [JOHN]: Yeah, exactly, and it's just, this interaction is so lovely for me, it's like, I kind of,
31:46 --> 31:54 [JOHN]: I can try to take notes, but I'm just writing down what James Spade is saying because this is really rich and great.
31:54 --> 32:04 [JOHN]: So yeah, it made me laugh and it's also really meaningful to vision, ultimately trying to search for the feelings of his path, this path life.
32:05 --> 32:08 [JOHN]: And this understand
32:10 --> 32:16 [JOHN]: vision as this version of himself that is, you know, more human.
32:16 --> 32:18 [JOHN]: So it's just really good.
32:18 --> 32:18 [JOHN]: Exactly.
32:18 --> 32:25 [CHRIS]: Yeah, and it calls on the Peter take away the best example of this whole thing, which is he understands the ingredients.
32:26 --> 32:46 [CHRIS]: and all the parts, but doesn't understand how they're put together, and it is because you're like, he's like, you know, that's not the takeaway that you would throw together, and put he also understands that a part, like he codes in for the delivery drivers to be late, because he thinks that's just part of the, that's what happens.
32:47 --> 32:48 [CHRIS]: So, and even Ultron calls on my John.
32:50 --> 32:58 [CHRIS]: I love this, the carrier pigeon being the emails away to get through just a nice little kind of image.
32:59 --> 33:10 [CHRIS]: And then as we start to see, they're pushing, they're pushing you to believe that Ultron is going to be the big bad of this show.
33:12 --> 33:28 [CHRIS]: And we'll get to more so kind of the why because he is pushing vision to be thing and he's trying to get himself out and he slips out as he's basically out in quote unquote out in the real world within vision's own mind.
33:28 --> 33:33 [CHRIS]: He's out of the elevator and the attic by the end of the two two episodes.
33:33 --> 33:33 [CHRIS]: Yeah.
33:33 --> 33:33 [CHRIS]: But.
33:34 --> 33:51 [CHRIS]: I honestly believe that what we'll find is that the understanding of humanity, the bad of humanity, is what Ultron will kind of past and to vision, and that will be the kind of driving force outside of
33:53 --> 34:07 [CHRIS]: And what makes him the vision again versus white vision, because each of the different AI's are going to teach him a small bit of how to be more than what he is.
34:09 --> 34:10 [DEREK]: And that's part of the thing, isn't it?
34:10 --> 34:14 [DEREK]: It's vision is chosen to have these AI's represent different aspects.
34:14 --> 34:19 [DEREK]: I think an old teach him something and he even knows probably in the back of his own mind.
34:19 --> 34:23 [DEREK]: He knows he must have Ultron there because he also needs to learn that other side of the world.
34:23 --> 34:24 [DEREK]: Right?
34:24 --> 34:25 [DEREK]: You can't just hide that away.
34:26 --> 34:28 [DEREK]: You also have to learn from the bad side as well.
34:28 --> 34:28 [DEREK]: Yes.
34:29 --> 34:30 [CHRIS]: And it does lead.
34:31 --> 34:55 [CHRIS]: Absolutely, but the bad side is forcing its way in the constant way into that into the experiences of vision is probably taking over a little bit as we go So yeah, and then this what this is what kind of kicks off the everything yeah this email and it gets us to the death of the land Maybe them going on the run or vision on the run and all of them inside is head it's the
34:57 --> 35:07 [CHRIS]: catalyst for the series, and it's even the catalyst for the introduction of all of the different other characters.
35:07 --> 35:12 [CHRIS]: I found it a fun back and forth.
35:13 --> 35:21 [CHRIS]: The one thing I will call it with Ultron is they're doing a bit of anyone to watch so part will know is the member berries which is
35:23 --> 35:34 [CHRIS]: Ultron is constantly quoting stuff he said in age of Ultron, or just paraphrasing us like talking about the strings and the puppeteer,
35:40 --> 35:40 [DEREK]: Absolutely.
35:40 --> 35:41 [DEREK]: Absolutely.
35:41 --> 35:45 [CHRIS]: And it's fun, but I was just like, oh yeah, you're playing the greatest hits, and I love this.
35:45 --> 35:53 [DEREK]: Yeah, it's also 15 years pretty much since, since, since, since, maybe 12 years since, since Age of Ultron came out.
35:53 --> 35:54 [DEREK]: And it is the most,
35:55 --> 35:58 [DEREK]: I would say unfairly maligned of the Marvel movies.
35:59 --> 36:00 [DEREK]: Oh, 100%, even rewatching it.
36:00 --> 36:06 [DEREK]: It's kind of like, I could skip a bit half an hour, but I'll take a bit half an hour that movie I usually go the rest of, it's actually really, really good.
36:06 --> 36:09 [DEREK]: But generally it's the one that people rewatch least.
36:09 --> 36:22 [DEREK]: So you do have to have Ultron's idea, the concept of him not wanting to be banned by anything around and because he's more intelligent than everything around and that concept that he used with the, I've got no strings.
36:22 --> 36:23 [DEREK]: Yes, first episode calls.
36:23 --> 36:30 [DEREK]: no strings and the fact that he's trying to cut those strings for vision effectively to make him into the person he wants to be.
36:30 --> 36:48 [JOHN]: Yeah, he's trying to stir him into action, all certainly through this kind of mischief that you know, but ultimately as well, I think he does get away with a lot because a number of times, you know, vision is angry with him
36:54 --> 37:07 [JOHN]: daily matinee performance of trying to understand his life and he slips in, you know, a different set of files that clearly upsets vision here.
37:07 --> 37:20 [JOHN]: But it also has consequences in that, you know, you see visions, boss, Miss Guthrie, getting killed, getting murdered, because he's informed
37:22 --> 37:29 [JOHN]: he's got the pigeon out and given away the location of of where he works.
37:29 --> 37:40 [JOHN]: So like this real life consequences seemingly happening here and and there's a lot of time he doesn't care about no exactly and then as you say that there's a moment of
37:43 --> 37:55 [JOHN]: with the EMP thing where he then takes his opportunity to escape and get out through the lift as you just hear it open.
37:55 --> 37:59 [JOHN]: Again, just really nicely done, but I do think he gets away with
38:05 --> 38:17 [JOHN]: outside of his mind construct after he has gotten out you know in quotes I guess and because again I'm like okay this is all like really
38:19 --> 38:20 [JOHN]: it's kind of just really interesting.
38:20 --> 38:22 [JOHN]: There's the mind constructs.
38:22 --> 38:24 [JOHN]: Then there's the reality.
38:24 --> 38:29 [JOHN]: And like, oh, it's going to be something wrong with that reality potentially.
38:30 --> 38:36 [JOHN]: But you also then, because you also have Tommy dealing with his own reality, like they're going through that similar thing.
38:36 --> 38:36 [DEREK]: So, yeah.
38:36 --> 38:37 [DEREK]: But,
38:38 --> 38:43 [JOHN]: I like the Ultram is the catalyst here, and they just think it's really, really good.
38:43 --> 38:49 [DEREK]: And I really like how to represent it, having the showing the AI's outside of vision's body.
38:49 --> 38:55 [DEREK]: They're not really outside, they're able to monitor outside because they are systems, they're able to monitor and see what's going on.
38:55 --> 39:01 [DEREK]: So instead of having them sitting in the room watching camera feeds of what's going on outside, you have Jarvis standing outside the pub.
39:03 --> 39:08 [DEREK]: seeing the attack happen, but he's probably monitoring from cameras or from other positions of activity.
39:08 --> 39:10 [DEREK]: He's not really outside the body of vision.
39:10 --> 39:17 [DEREK]: So when later on, you have ultra on outside of vision's body, you can connect that he's not really outside.
39:17 --> 39:18 [DEREK]: Nobody else could see him.
39:18 --> 39:21 [DEREK]: It's just a representation to have, so we can have those conversations.
39:21 --> 39:23 [DEREK]: But I love that it's kind of set up that way earlier on.
39:23 --> 39:29 [DEREK]: So you have Eda to arrive in the pull back to the attack, telling him how to escape bush.
39:29 --> 39:30 [DEREK]: She's not really there.
39:30 --> 39:31 [DEREK]: She's just doing it in his mind.
39:32 --> 39:47 [CHRIS]: The best, even better example is later when they go to Mavids and he's at the front and you get to them giving away a different piece of why it's a trap and it's just a very, it's a very interesting like to remember the show leverage.
39:49 --> 39:50 [CHRIS]: It was no.
39:50 --> 39:50 [DEREK]: Okay.
39:51 --> 39:51 [CHRIS]: Okay.
39:51 --> 40:02 [CHRIS]: Anyway, it's like it's a guy, you would expect from, for any of our DC fans, it's Oracle Packer, the girl in the chair, the guy in the chair.
40:02 --> 40:09 [CHRIS]: It's the, I have a view and I'm going to give you my superhero, all the details you need to get through.
40:09 --> 40:13 [DEREK]: Yeah, I thought you'd totally go for dad leads in Spider-Man Chris.
40:14 --> 40:16 [CHRIS]: I know my audience, I'm speaking to D.C. heads, you know?
40:16 --> 40:16 [CHRIS]: I'm from TV.
40:16 --> 40:40 [JOHN]: On our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on our marvels, on
40:40 --> 40:45 [JOHN]: Well, why would I be looking at sort of fashion that the fashion elements of this?
40:45 --> 40:50 [JOHN]: And she's like, because that's important, she's like, look, he's not wearing runners.
40:51 --> 41:01 [JOHN]: It's combat boots, and all this kind of thing, and then there's the gong, the gong, the gong sticking out, and she's like, and that's just sloppy.
41:01 --> 41:03 [JOHN]: That's a bit of a giveaway.
41:03 --> 41:07 [DEREK]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, really like that attack later on in the second episode.
41:10 --> 41:12 [DEREK]: the bar.
41:12 --> 41:22 [DEREK]: The more just just back to the bar itself, just after the murder of Visions Boss, we get introduced to Paladin who will talk about in his own point because he absolutely deserves from these two episodes.
41:22 --> 41:26 [DEREK]: I just love that he effectively said that wave of mercies in.
41:27 --> 41:35 [DEREK]: knowing most of them were going to die, because he wanted to kind of test out the vision, because he has another follow-up team ready to come in afterwards.
41:35 --> 41:44 [DEREK]: But as he walks in after vision escapes, he just executes the guy that killed Fiona, Vision's boss, because he doesn't like...
41:44 --> 41:56 [DEREK]: having collateral damage, she didn't send them in there to kill anybody else, she sent them in there to either take out vision or to work out what vision's power was, and effectively in that was it.
41:56 --> 42:02 [DEREK]: He didn't care if any of them dies, but the fact they killed someone that they shouldn't have killed means he executes the sniper that killed her.
42:03 --> 42:13 [JOHN]: Yeah, actually there's two headshots in the first two episodes because the pallet in it takes out the kind of cranky prison officer.
42:14 --> 42:17 [JOHN]: And so yeah, he likes a good old headshot.
42:18 --> 42:20 [DEREK]: He prison officer is an interesting description for him, yes.
42:21 --> 42:22 [JOHN]: Well, he is just miserable.
42:22 --> 42:23 [JOHN]: He is miserable.
42:23 --> 42:23 [JOHN]: Yes.
42:24 --> 42:26 [JOHN]: I like to use his cattle prod.
42:26 --> 42:26 [JOHN]: He does.
42:26 --> 42:27 [JOHN]: He does.
42:28 --> 42:30 [DEREK]: Anything else about the return of Voltron here in this,
42:34 --> 42:38 [JOHN]: I just like Harry works in this story, absolutely.
42:38 --> 42:44 [JOHN]: I think it's really great use, you know, I say to them all being in his mind, in that sense.
42:44 --> 42:46 [JOHN]: What about what about his little hand?
42:46 --> 42:49 [JOHN]: I mean, I like the moment we're...
42:51 --> 43:02 [JOHN]: Vision says, where he says, only human avatars and I like the moment where you still have Ultron in the mirror and he's sort of trying on the different hats.
43:02 --> 43:08 [JOHN]: He's got the stats in the hands up with the kind of like the short stubby top hat and then he uses.
43:09 --> 43:10 [DEREK]: I just saw you in a hat earlier.
43:10 --> 43:11 [DEREK]: I think I'm a hat guy now.
43:12 --> 43:12 [DEREK]: Yeah.
43:12 --> 43:15 [JOHN]: I think I just think it's
43:16 --> 43:34 [JOHN]: genius using him and I think it's great having, you know, the voice of Ultron but with the face of James Spader and with his big bushy beers and I mean even like you see it in the trailer or he's like, it's a boy, you know, Muzzle top and it's
43:34 --> 43:36 [JOHN]: Yeah, and it's just really, really good.
43:36 --> 43:48 [JOHN]: And you kind of like, is that about Tommy, but equally it could be him talking about his own creation, which is a vision, especially grandpa, to Tommy and father to vision.
43:48 --> 43:52 [DEREK]: So he's really enjoying making vision feel really uncomfortable.
43:52 --> 43:54 [DEREK]: So do you want to call me?
43:54 --> 43:56 [DEREK]: Papa, do you want to call me Papa?
43:56 --> 43:58 [DEREK]: If you don't want to call me daddy, basically.
43:58 --> 44:00 [DEREK]: So it's just that goes really good.
44:00 --> 44:10 [JOHN]: So I think Ultron being here and with that little glimpse of Miss Chief, I'm so sure, path thickness, I guess, as much as that.
44:11 --> 44:13 [JOHN]: In his eye, really, really good.
44:16 --> 44:24 [DEREK]: Let's get on to another introduction to another character on our code line number three, Thomas Shepherd or Tommy Maximoff.
44:25 --> 44:31 [DEREK]: Oh, every like this, this is following on at the lines of I got that all along, which I think is really good, one of great ways to
44:32 --> 44:32 [DEREK]: introduce this character.
44:33 --> 44:38 [DEREK]: If you all remember, Agatha all along, we had the introduction of the teen for the first few episodes.
44:38 --> 44:47 [DEREK]: Later on in the series as we all started to suspect that this was young Billy from one division, they introduced him as William Kaplan.
44:48 --> 44:49 [DEREK]: Noss Billy Maximoth.
44:49 --> 44:55 [DEREK]: It was only towards the end of the series that we realized that Billy Maximoth had taken over the body of William Kaplan.
44:56 --> 44:58 [DEREK]: And here, we have a similar situation.
44:58 --> 45:05 [DEREK]: We have a kid Thomas Shepherd who was dying and draining or being drained by a group of bullies.
45:05 --> 45:11 [DEREK]: And then the essence of Tommy Maximoth was forced into his body.
45:12 --> 45:17 [DEREK]: I really like this, and I know we'll probably see a little bit more of this as the series goes on, but we've already seen it.
45:17 --> 45:18 [DEREK]: We've seen it from the other side.
45:18 --> 45:28 [DEREK]: We saw Billy Maxmoff and Agatha Harkness doing a spell to push Tommy into this body.
45:28 --> 45:31 [DEREK]: And I just remembered that the scene and where...
45:31 --> 45:46 [DEREK]: you hear Billy screaming as the power is running through him and he's shagging going agatha and I killing a boy to bring back my brother and here you see he didn't actually kill the boy he felt the boy was dying and that's why he was doing it agatha was saying oh it doesn't really matter he's probably dead anyway
45:47 --> 46:00 [DEREK]: But it turns out what's actually happened is he's forced his half of his brother's essence into the body of Thomas Shepherd who has all the memories of who he was beforehand and now has these brand new memories of the one division Tommy effectively.
46:01 --> 46:02 [DEREK]: So he doesn't know what's happening.
46:02 --> 46:05 [DEREK]: He knows he feels like everything is true.
46:06 --> 46:10 [DEREK]: All of his history has Thomas Shepherd is true and all of his history is Tommy Maximoff is true.
46:11 --> 46:17 [JOHN]: And he's being able to distinguish what it is as well.
46:17 --> 46:30 [JOHN]: It's not just the memories though, because he has the powers, but I love this element of this character being kind of, you know, that 50, 50 of Thomas Shepherd or Tommy Maximoff.
46:31 --> 46:36 [JOHN]: But I love how it plays out over the two episodes, because, you know, you have that
46:37 --> 46:58 [JOHN]: It's mainly done in parts through the psych evaluation video, seeing vision watching it back, and you have him describing this demon and deep red and purple looking like he's bruised, but with kind eyes, not human, but he called me as son.
46:59 --> 47:03 [JOHN]: And he's like, it's real, but it's not real.
47:03 --> 47:04 [JOHN]: I remember it,
47:05 --> 47:11 [JOHN]: I also remember my life as Thomas Shepherds where his mother is dead, his dad has walks.
47:11 --> 47:13 [JOHN]: I was on him.
47:13 --> 47:22 [JOHN]: And just coming back to the complication of Ultron being there, but also sort of that voice on vision shoulder.
47:23 --> 47:27 [JOHN]: Because Ultron's like, you just think this is a tactical deception,
47:36 --> 47:36 [JOHN]: one or the other.
47:36 --> 47:37 [JOHN]: Yeah.
47:37 --> 47:46 [JOHN]: But he says, don't you think that this might be possible in this, I think, which he will just giving that sort of connection back.
47:47 --> 47:49 [JOHN]: And I really, really enjoy all this.
47:49 --> 47:56 [JOHN]: And of course, you do get the classic line around grief is just love persevering, air that we got.
47:57 --> 47:57 [JOHN]: Yeah.
47:57 --> 48:02 [JOHN]: Which you get from one division and, you know, all the other.
48:03 --> 48:06 [JOHN]: AI, the synthetics are like, how does he know that?
48:06 --> 48:10 [JOHN]: I think fried is the one that really kind of pops up, like, how would he know that?
48:10 --> 48:11 [JOHN]: Because it's only two of you.
48:11 --> 48:11 [JOHN]: Yeah.
48:11 --> 48:11 [JOHN]: Two of you.
48:12 --> 48:15 [JOHN]: So this kind of fell thing is really good, I think.
48:15 --> 48:18 [DEREK]: And there is just an interesting thing about that because they're not aware that
48:20 --> 48:25 [DEREK]: the One Division TV show was broadcast outside of Westview and it is stored within the sword files.
48:26 --> 48:40 [DEREK]: So the actual conversation where vision says to wonder what is what is grief love persevering was actually broadcast on the One Division TV show to swords.
48:40 --> 48:41 [DEREK]: So they have that in their files.
48:41 --> 48:42 [DEREK]: I'm just just to make a comment.
48:43 --> 48:43 [DEREK]: Yeah, okay.
48:43 --> 48:45 [DEREK]: So there is a possibility that
48:47 --> 48:56 [DEREK]: Tommy has actually been just downloaded into, we just happened to see Agatha all along, we know there was magic involved, and that's why the two are there, but I just think it's an interesting touch.
48:57 --> 49:01 [DEREK]: And also the kind of external perception, if you didn't watch the TV show,
49:02 --> 49:07 [DEREK]: One Division, or I could tell along, and you're just one of the MCU fans who only watch the movies and don't care about the TV shows.
49:08 --> 49:17 [DEREK]: The vision here, White Vision, is actually your vision, because he only accepts everything that happened in the movies until his, the mind stone was ripped out of his head.
49:17 --> 49:20 [DEREK]: And that vision cease to exist and all the rest of the stuff is all made up.
49:21 --> 49:23 [DEREK]: So I love that we have all tried commenting on that as well.
49:23 --> 49:25 [DEREK]: You know, you keep saying the stuff is impossible.
49:25 --> 49:26 [DEREK]: Yes, not impossible.
49:27 --> 49:27 [DEREK]: It could happen.
49:27 --> 49:28 [DEREK]: This world has witches in it.
49:28 --> 49:29 [DEREK]: It has wizards in it.
49:29 --> 49:30 [DEREK]: That loads of other things in it.
49:30 --> 49:32 [DEREK]: You know, you keep saying that.
49:32 --> 49:36 [DEREK]: So it's almost like a pushback to the MCU fans who aren't watching the TV shows going.
49:36 --> 49:37 [DEREK]: But it can happen.
49:37 --> 49:40 [DEREK]: Why don't you watch it and see how it plays actually, you know?
49:40 --> 49:41 [DEREK]: It could be a good richer life, you know?
49:42 --> 49:43 [DEREK]: really like that.
49:43 --> 49:50 [DEREK]: To speak about Tobie's Paris as well, so we didn't see a huge event in one division and again that was a construct of him.
49:50 --> 49:55 [DEREK]: He had speed like his uncle Pietro and one to his brother.
49:56 --> 50:01 [DEREK]: We saw him running around using those speed ability that he had whereas here in in
50:02 --> 50:06 [DEREK]: this show, we see him using something a bit more powerful.
50:06 --> 50:09 [DEREK]: He's using his speed to vibrate through things.
50:09 --> 50:18 [DEREK]: He's opening doors using his speed to be able to vibrate the knots and bolts out of the hinges, which is I think a really cool use of this power isn't it?
50:18 --> 50:35 [JOHN]: Yeah, all it generates the electric field, which got him into hot water in the swimming pool incident, but also then with the kind of sort of the the mean gas at where when he's being
50:38 --> 50:40 [JOHN]: tasers effectively.
50:40 --> 50:44 [JOHN]: He is able to kind of push that back out onto the guard.
50:44 --> 50:44 [JOHN]: Yeah.
50:44 --> 50:52 [JOHN]: I mean, so I definitely don't see yet fast running because I did find it the only little bit I was just like,
50:54 --> 51:18 [JOHN]: It did quite add up for me was when Tommy and Lisa just do escape the bus and the god is telling them to stop the bus Yeah, but it's almost because she because the camera doesn't pan round It's like the bus just carried on driving off because they do run, but he doesn't run fast That's the point.
51:18 --> 51:20 [JOHN]: I guess partly in that scene.
51:20 --> 51:20 [JOHN]: Yes, it
51:21 --> 51:24 [JOHN]: When he says wrong, he just does a regular run.
51:24 --> 51:25 [JOHN]: Yeah.
51:26 --> 51:32 [JOHN]: And because Lisa has seen that kind of speed skill with the vibration on the door.
51:32 --> 51:35 [DEREK]: I don't think she saw that though because he was at the handle.
51:35 --> 51:37 [DEREK]: And she couldn't open the door with the handle.
51:37 --> 51:39 [DEREK]: But he opens, he opens it, shakes it so hard.
51:39 --> 51:41 [DEREK]: It's a lot of fun to face.
51:41 --> 51:43 [JOHN]: And also with the taser.
51:43 --> 51:44 [JOHN]: Yeah.
51:44 --> 51:45 [JOHN]: She's like, and what happened there?
51:45 --> 51:46 [JOHN]: Yeah.
51:47 --> 51:53 [JOHN]: her interest is peaked that there's something different here about this and this Thomas Shappard.
51:54 --> 52:09 [DEREK]: But it is it is quite funny that we didn't see the follow-up because they literally fell off the back of the of a moving bus which had security guards in it and then they ran away and it just went that was a year ago and they were in present again and it didn't comment on it.
52:09 --> 52:18 [DEREK]: I think part of that is because they probably weren't carrying weapons other than the tasers they weren't carrying guns because generally they wouldn't in the same time.
52:18 --> 52:23 [DEREK]: They're not going to a sanitary or not to a prison, but it does seem like heavy guard.
52:23 --> 52:24 [DEREK]: But they wouldn't be carrying guns.
52:24 --> 52:27 [DEREK]: They wouldn't have them shooting guns in the air like you would in every...
52:27 --> 52:29 [DEREK]: And every person escaped movie in the US.
52:29 --> 52:43 [DEREK]: It's probably not that exciting at the moment to just see them run off into the systems Running as likely as that's like this act of Guarante Agreed, but it was like I just even if it was him starting to you know, yeah
52:44 --> 52:50 [CHRIS]: Well, the driver couldn't hear because all the rest of the inmates were singing.
52:50 --> 52:52 [CHRIS]: We're singing the Christmas car, yes.
52:52 --> 52:57 [CHRIS]: It would have taken a bit of time for the other guard to get to the driver.
52:57 --> 53:01 [CHRIS]: And so that's the reason I was like, oh, okay, yeah, kind of makes sense.
53:01 --> 53:05 [JOHN]: It just kind of felt like they sold it off a little bit.
53:05 --> 53:07 [JOHN]: But I think all of it is, yes, he.
53:08 --> 53:16 [JOHN]: either hasn't discovered the power of a faster on, yes, or he hasn't, yeah, he's very very good.
53:16 --> 53:28 [JOHN]: That hasn't transferred, you know, we're talking about this ultimate download, or which he transfer of Tommy into Thomas.
53:28 --> 53:34 [DEREK]: They generally just talk about how fast he is doing things and achieving things, or that's very fast he's able to do.
53:36 --> 53:58 [CHRIS]: the lock pick lock pick so that was yeah yeah well that's a thing so he calls out in that's two vision which is he says I can only do this under in kind of immense kind of stress in paraphrasing again but he basically says that like these are only short bursts of him having this power right so yeah he hasn't discovered
53:59 --> 54:20 [CHRIS]: thing I'm finding interesting I know we keep talking about it was like he's half Tommy and half Thomas and actual fact and the one of the reasons actually we like it is he's a hundred percent Thomas hundred percent Tommy so he's got he's not kind of cherry picked both of the parts it's
54:21 --> 54:31 [CHRIS]: the two souls smushed together and we saw the beginning of this with Agatha all along when it came to Billy and William
54:34 --> 54:35 [CHRIS]: We're Billy Onex.
54:36 --> 54:37 [CHRIS]: Well, it's a new experience.
54:37 --> 54:42 [DEREK]: Quite specifically in Agatha Long, wasn't it that William was dead.
54:42 --> 54:43 [DEREK]: Yes.
54:43 --> 54:48 [DEREK]: And as he died, Billy entered his body and from that point onwards, there was no more William Kaplan.
54:48 --> 54:50 [DEREK]: Whereas here it's slightly different.
54:50 --> 54:53 [DEREK]: He thought at least Billy initially thought that
54:55 --> 55:03 [DEREK]: Thomas Shepard was dying and he was putting his brother in a very similar situation that he was in and it turns out actually Agatha was slightly lying to him.
55:03 --> 55:18 [DEREK]: So luckily it feels like that moment he pulled back and stopped Thomas Shepard from dying and now the two souls are in the same body for one to a better phrase rather than they're only being one soul in the body of William Catland
55:24 --> 55:26 [DEREK]: Thomas Shepherd's life completely upside down.
55:26 --> 55:27 [DEREK]: I think that's kind of kind of cool.
55:28 --> 55:36 [JOHN]: I mean, I think the other side of this then is I do like Vision going in to rescue him.
55:36 --> 55:42 [JOHN]: I like how that all plays out, but I just I just with that escape.
55:42 --> 55:44 [JOHN]: I really I just like
55:45 --> 55:56 [JOHN]: the whole thing between him and Vision, where like Vision's saying like get away, and I see thinks he's dying, and he's like, no, you are my goddamned.
55:56 --> 56:01 [JOHN]: And he just says something, and I think that's really a great way of expressing it, because
56:02 --> 56:06 [JOHN]: As you say, Chris, I think, you know, we have Thomas Shepard here.
56:06 --> 56:07 [JOHN]: We have Tony Maximoff.
56:07 --> 56:09 [JOHN]: He has the memories of both.
56:09 --> 56:13 [JOHN]: He has the feelings of both, both are equally true to him.
56:13 --> 56:16 [JOHN]: And he's experienced them, both.
56:17 --> 56:24 [JOHN]: And what he's grasping now that he's seen the white vision is like,
56:26 --> 56:37 [JOHN]: you're the reference here of this other person that I equally know to be real and have happened or to be true in some respect.
56:37 --> 56:41 [JOHN]: So I really like that interaction the at the end.
56:42 --> 56:51 [JOHN]: St. Maybans and just how that plays out, I think you described as well, I think when he gets
56:52 --> 56:54 [JOHN]: trapped in the AMP, and I do like the fact that you just use this vision to sort of ram the door down.
56:54 --> 56:55 [JOHN]: It really made me laugh.
56:55 --> 57:19 [DEREK]: It's like I need your help stand up and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do something and then you do
57:20 --> 57:21 [DEREK]: better ice that.
57:21 --> 57:24 [DEREK]: But yeah, I just, I just like that, that Tubby used in that way.
57:24 --> 57:25 [DEREK]: And anything else about Tommy?
57:25 --> 57:29 [DEREK]: I know, obviously he's the second lead character in the show.
57:30 --> 57:36 [DEREK]: So we're probably going to talk about him every episode from now on, but anything else about him from these first two episodes, the one I mentioned before we move on to our next codler.
57:37 --> 57:53 [JOHN]: Not really, I just quickly, it wasn't so much Thomas, but just Lisa, you know, I'm hoping we do see her again, maybe it will be in a flashback because they do kind of like their interaction from, you know, at the end of, and
57:54 --> 58:07 [JOHN]: episode one where we meet Tommy and Lisa doing the pick pocketing and the grifting to sort of you know them being transferred to St. Mayburns and and again you have that
58:08 --> 58:23 [JOHN]: other film reference where when he asks, well, what did you do when I took off the face of my garden, orish and escaped, you know, high-skirted building, it's like, no, not really, just petty last and stuff like that.
58:26 --> 58:27 [JOHN]: I'm not Hannibal Lecter.
58:27 --> 58:31 [DEREK]: What is with the system in the UK and this in the MCU?
58:32 --> 58:34 [DEREK]: So, person comes in and steals a couple of things.
58:34 --> 58:41 [DEREK]: They go, you're a club to my office, go to a place for life in prison, no chance of parole, it's a mental health center.
58:42 --> 58:49 [DEREK]: Or is she lying to tell me which I've just realized she might have she might have been why it would seem to be a little overkill But who's like please help me.
58:50 --> 58:51 [DEREK]: I've got somebody else's mind.
58:51 --> 58:51 [DEREK]: I'm a body.
58:51 --> 58:52 [DEREK]: We can't help many more.
58:52 --> 58:57 [DEREK]: Let's add them off to the babes Everyone's with no help or parole like the doctor was like
58:58 --> 59:00 [JOHN]: Yeah, nothing's changed in the last six months.
59:00 --> 59:03 [JOHN]: We're done.
59:03 --> 59:14 [CHRIS]: I was worried about wondering about maybe there's a going to be a home for special children type badness kind of bad place.
59:14 --> 59:17 [CHRIS]: Do you remember the film the mutants?
59:17 --> 59:18 [DEREK]: Yeah, yeah.
59:18 --> 59:22 [CHRIS]: Yeah, that type of thing where just like they were getting experimented on blah, blah, blah, maybe.
59:22 --> 59:25 [CHRIS]: I was wondering if they were going to do something like that because it was just a way
59:26 --> 59:30 [CHRIS]: when people go into mavens, they never come back up.
59:30 --> 59:35 [CHRIS]: And you're like, or a better example would be for any of our listeners who were into the boys.
59:35 --> 59:39 [CHRIS]: And the boys podcast, they had a very similar type.
59:40 --> 59:45 [CHRIS]: Home for, home for way were children almost.
59:45 --> 59:47 [CHRIS]: And they were just being experimented on.
59:47 --> 59:49 [DEREK]: I was like, oh, yeah, Red River in the boys.
59:49 --> 59:51 [JOHN]: Yes, yes, that's it.
59:51 --> 59:51 [JOHN]: Yeah.
59:51 --> 01:00:01 [JOHN]: I think the other side of it is just simply because it was set in the UK called St. Maven's just the boss that transported them.
01:00:02 --> 01:00:05 [JOHN]: It reminded me a little bit of like children's men.
01:00:05 --> 01:00:09 [JOHN]: No, they kind of almost children of men's I right and but even
01:00:10 --> 01:00:18 [JOHN]: from the actual institution more like what happens to V for in V for Vendessa, where he's like being experimented on.
01:00:18 --> 01:00:19 [JOHN]: Yeah, like that kind of thing.
01:00:19 --> 01:00:19 [CHRIS]: Yeah.
01:00:20 --> 01:00:24 [JOHN]: And because I can't really enjoy that vibe in sort of I guess.
01:00:26 --> 01:00:43 [CHRIS]: movies and it really threw them out to me a bit really yeah I was going to remember remember the fifth in November I'm like your month off buddy yes one month and it's being re-released it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's
01:00:43 --> 01:00:44 [CHRIS]: Oh, we're old.
01:00:44 --> 01:00:46 [CHRIS]: Yeah, yeah, we know again.
01:00:46 --> 01:00:48 [CHRIS]: I'm like, that's just for the movie.
01:00:48 --> 01:00:50 [CHRIS]: Not the comic.
01:00:50 --> 01:00:53 [DEREK]: Yeah, I was around and I came out as well.
01:00:53 --> 01:00:54 [DEREK]: Yeah, absolutely.
01:00:55 --> 01:00:56 [DEREK]: Right.
01:00:56 --> 01:00:57 [DEREK]: Let's move on from Tommy.
01:00:57 --> 01:00:58 [DEREK]: Yes, you were John.
01:00:58 --> 01:00:59 [DEREK]: Yes, you were.
01:01:00 --> 01:01:01 [DEREK]: For code line number four.
01:01:06 --> 01:01:08 [DEREK]: Codeline number four is who is Paladin?
01:01:08 --> 01:01:14 [DEREK]: We have to have Paladin his own point ex Paladin's played by Todd Stashwick, who we remember from Stashwick occurred once again.
01:01:14 --> 01:01:18 [DEREK]: Yeah, you know, one of the great character actors at there.
01:01:18 --> 01:01:25 [DEREK]: Yeah, and here he is playing Paladin Paladin's a really interesting character He's a gun for higher and we find out it's a legacy title.
01:01:25 --> 01:01:33 [DEREK]: He's had his the first of this generation to have it almost like fluffy But of evil fluffy because basically anybody who's put
01:01:34 --> 01:01:44 [DEREK]: as his target, he will take them down, doesn't matter whether they're villain or hero, doesn't matter whether they're good or bad, if they're in his sights, he will find a way to take them down.
01:01:44 --> 01:01:58 [DEREK]: As I mentioned earlier on, I just find it really interesting, he is willing to do absolutely anything to get his target, getting all the mercenaries sending them in, basically with guns versus an avenger, a very heavily parative avenger, he knew they were all going to die, and he just wanted to test the limits of what
01:01:58 --> 01:02:01 [DEREK]: what Vision was going to do to them.
01:02:02 --> 01:02:07 [DEREK]: Later obviously Kidnapping a kid who says that he's Vision's son to draw a vision.
01:02:08 --> 01:02:12 [DEREK]: You know, we see him saying it doesn't really matter whether he has your kid or not.
01:02:12 --> 01:02:14 [DEREK]: The kid believes he is.
01:02:14 --> 01:02:17 [DEREK]: So if you don't come in and say, you'll have sentence this kid to death.
01:02:17 --> 01:02:19 [DEREK]: Do you want that on your conscience, basically, you know?
01:02:20 --> 01:02:25 [DEREK]: So he's really do use absolutely anything to get his to get his target.
01:02:26 --> 01:02:32 [JOHN]: Yeah, I think really intrigued by this character, Loved Tolstashwick.
01:02:33 --> 01:02:43 [JOHN]: I love how with his sidekick, his handler, Diane Morgan, the great Diane Morgan, Filomena Conk, if anyone...
01:02:45 --> 01:02:48 [JOHN]: Cook on the world, cook on the universe.
01:02:48 --> 01:02:50 [JOHN]: Some kind of movies coming on this on the deck.
01:02:50 --> 01:02:53 [JOHN]: Really good comedy actor again.
01:02:53 --> 01:03:01 [JOHN]: Here being used in this series as well as the two guys from the Go's Wrong Show.
01:03:01 --> 01:03:03 [JOHN]: So yeah, really interesting.
01:03:03 --> 01:03:04 [JOHN]: But I kind of like...
01:03:05 --> 01:03:07 [DEREK]: that just run into British actors to use in Marvel.
01:03:07 --> 01:03:07 [DEREK]: I guess so.
01:03:07 --> 01:03:08 [DEREK]: But I'm sure it's a comedy.
01:03:09 --> 01:03:13 [DEREK]: Darryl O'Brien will be on as a scientist in the next one.
01:03:13 --> 01:03:13 [JOHN]: Exactly.
01:03:13 --> 01:03:14 [CHRIS]: Hey, I actually love that.
01:03:14 --> 01:03:16 [JOHN]: Yeah, that would be really cool.
01:03:16 --> 01:03:17 [JOHN]: I think.
01:03:17 --> 01:03:20 [DEREK]: But just to remind her, sorry, I know you're, you're, you have another point.
01:03:20 --> 01:03:24 [DEREK]: But just to Anne Morgan, she was in Moza Land and was absolutely excellent.
01:03:24 --> 01:03:28 [DEREK]: And that is, there's a comedy show which she did some great dreams or moments as well.
01:03:28 --> 01:03:29 [DEREK]: So we have seen her drama, dramatic.
01:03:30 --> 01:03:31 [DEREK]: performance before.
01:03:31 --> 01:03:35 [DEREK]: It's not just the filming of Conqueror, that she does.
01:03:35 --> 01:03:36 [DEREK]: But that's awesome.
01:03:36 --> 01:03:37 [DEREK]: Very good, it's dramatic actually.
01:03:37 --> 01:03:38 [JOHN]: Yeah, absolutely.
01:03:38 --> 01:03:49 [JOHN]: But I love the fact that how they tap into Ultron's minds here and how that's kind of portrayed or digitally in the digital sky.
01:03:50 --> 01:03:50 [JOHN]: Yeah.
01:03:50 --> 01:03:51 [JOHN]: I love...
01:03:51 --> 01:03:53 [JOHN]: all that kind of aspect of it.
01:03:53 --> 01:04:14 [JOHN]: I love the fact that it is a little bit of a trope, but you know, she's kind of the tech head here, and all it's like said before, what you can hear is the keyboard going and it's like, oh yeah, we're in now, did it, got that, got that, because yes, interestingly, what we learn through at least paladin is that he has no knowledge of west
01:04:16 --> 01:04:32 [JOHN]: the newspapers so they go searching and I love how you know this notion of being hunted and the predator that's brought up by Ultron where I think he says when he was asked about what they should do next, what after.
01:04:34 --> 01:04:40 [JOHN]: being surprised, sort of that surprise attack at the poor by him on Vision Ego's.
01:04:40 --> 01:04:43 [JOHN]: Well, I would pursue a neutralised the threats.
01:04:44 --> 01:04:58 [JOHN]: But Vision is already gone on the run and hidden, and so, you know, I like the fact that you have this predatory aspect of this bounty hunter going after Vision, and it's, you know,
01:04:59 --> 01:05:04 [JOHN]: What's the best place is to find where he's running to by looking at where he's run from?
01:05:05 --> 01:05:12 [JOHN]: And you go into the the Sherwood Ellis thing and the two road names that intersect in Westview.
01:05:13 --> 01:05:18 [JOHN]: They wasn't Alistrie the the street that they couldn't go beyond because that's as far as one does paraphrase extent.
01:05:18 --> 01:05:20 [DEREK]: It was something like don't go beyond Alistrie.
01:05:22 --> 01:05:34 [JOHN]: So I loved all that, I loved Morgan's characters sort of going through that, going through the files, that's how they learn about Tommy, that's how you kind of get kidnapped at the end of episode one.
01:05:34 --> 01:05:38 [DEREK]: So I really enjoyed how this played out.
01:05:39 --> 01:05:43 [DEREK]: Absolutely, and you know how badass Paladin is when he's calling Thanos a scrotum again.
01:05:44 --> 01:05:57 [CHRIS]: So I have a little bit of everything Todd Stashwick is just fantastic and again he's a if you follow him on Instagram, he does some amazing kind of D&D as well.
01:05:59 --> 01:06:02 [CHRIS]: But the helmet just is a bit weird.
01:06:03 --> 01:06:05 [CHRIS]: It's got to it just be like the fly.
01:06:05 --> 01:06:07 [CHRIS]: Oh, I was going more.
01:06:07 --> 01:06:07 [CHRIS]: Do you remember?
01:06:08 --> 01:06:08 [CHRIS]: Oh, bogey.
01:06:10 --> 01:06:13 [CHRIS]: That's another do you remember Arthur in the tick?
01:06:13 --> 01:06:13 [JOHN]: Yes, yes.
01:06:13 --> 01:06:15 [CHRIS]: Yeah, he looks a bit like that.
01:06:15 --> 01:06:17 [CHRIS]: There's just big bulge eyes and I was like
01:06:18 --> 01:06:19 [CHRIS]: Yeah, it's not great.
01:06:19 --> 01:06:25 [CHRIS]: I hope he gets an upgrade now after getting his kind of book in this second episode.
01:06:26 --> 01:06:26 [DEREK]: Yeah.
01:06:26 --> 01:06:28 [DEREK]: It is a nod to his comic book.
01:06:28 --> 01:06:30 [DEREK]: Yes, the greatest part is the comic book.
01:06:30 --> 01:06:32 [DEREK]: Eight foot is very similar to this.
01:06:32 --> 01:06:33 [DEREK]: The colors are completely different.
01:06:34 --> 01:06:35 [DEREK]: the yet-landish because it's the 70s.
01:06:35 --> 01:06:50 [DEREK]: He first appeared in Daredevil if you won 50 and he basically was just following Daredevil to find his target so that he could take the credit for finding his target so yeah very similar character willing to use anything in his priority to get his prey that's effectively it's so.
01:06:51 --> 01:06:52 [DEREK]: So he is on the cover of 150.
01:06:52 --> 01:06:53 [DEREK]: You'll see what he looks like.
01:06:54 --> 01:07:10 [DEREK]: I think it's like a brain and a brain and blue Kind of suits look very similar to the live-action suit but the live-action is in black which is cool And just to say this weekend, we had New York Comic-Con was on in New York and Todd Sastric met up with Charlie Cox and had a photograph together Just to introduce him to the MCU.
01:07:10 --> 01:07:11 [JOHN]: He was also brought us
01:07:15 --> 01:07:18 [JOHN]: First, genuine whiskey watch in a while.
01:07:18 --> 01:07:19 [JOHN]: Yes.
01:07:19 --> 01:07:24 [JOHN]: Defenders, podcast, or Defenders TV podcast.
01:07:24 --> 01:07:32 [JOHN]: As we do see him grabbing a swoffered 12-year Highland single malt whiskey.
01:07:32 --> 01:07:34 [JOHN]: That seems to be his tipal.
01:07:35 --> 01:07:41 [JOHN]: Yeah, as he finds out through his earpiece with his handler about Tommy and Billy.
01:07:42 --> 01:07:42 [JOHN]: So that's good.
01:07:43 --> 01:07:46 [DEREK]: Did you notice when he goes into the bar while waiting for vision?
01:07:46 --> 01:07:50 [DEREK]: He goes through the entire whiskey shelf to find one that he likes before he pours it.
01:07:50 --> 01:07:50 [DEREK]: Which is very smart.
01:07:50 --> 01:07:54 [DEREK]: I like that he has that little touch with this character.
01:07:54 --> 01:07:55 [DEREK]: But yeah, kind of cool to have a bit of whiskey watch.
01:07:56 --> 01:07:58 [DEREK]: When you start off with you, MCU series.
01:07:59 --> 01:08:03 [DEREK]: Also, not back to one division, he's done this homework.
01:08:03 --> 01:08:09 [DEREK]: He talks division and goes at off of your drink, but I know it messes up your insides because he had that piece of gum
01:08:11 --> 01:08:13 [DEREK]: Vision for a whole episode.
01:08:13 --> 01:08:21 [DEREK]: Yeah, but yeah, but but white vision knocks back the shot of whiskey and goes I'm a very different person than that.
01:08:21 --> 01:08:22 [DEREK]: Yes, don't mess with it.
01:08:22 --> 01:08:26 [JOHN]: I think it's a really good way of doing it because it's kind of what I was trying to get
01:08:26 --> 01:08:29 [JOHN]: to in Codeline 1.
01:08:29 --> 01:08:38 [JOHN]: This notion where he says, you know, it's when he's gone to meet Paladin at the coordinates that have been encrypted into his message.
01:08:38 --> 01:08:44 [JOHN]: And he says, you know, I don't feel, you know, you will sue my care about this Tommy.
01:08:45 --> 01:08:47 [JOHN]: While it's true, I was once him.
01:08:48 --> 01:08:49 [JOHN]: I am not vision.
01:08:51 --> 01:08:55 [JOHN]: which then made me scream because I'd written him down as vision and my notes up till then.
01:08:55 --> 01:08:58 [JOHN]: And I was like, well, what do we call you then, vision two?
01:08:59 --> 01:09:02 [JOHN]: White, it's white vision, but that's just another word to have to write.
01:09:02 --> 01:09:02 [JOHN]: Yeah.
01:09:02 --> 01:09:03 [JOHN]: And so, yeah.
01:09:03 --> 01:09:04 [JOHN]: He's vision.
01:09:04 --> 01:09:04 [JOHN]: Yeah.
01:09:05 --> 01:09:06 [JOHN]: There is no other vision there.
01:09:06 --> 01:09:07 [JOHN]: But I like that.
01:09:07 --> 01:09:08 [JOHN]: It's just the different thing.
01:09:08 --> 01:09:12 [JOHN]: And you have him grabbing the pallet in by the neck as well.
01:09:12 --> 01:09:14 [JOHN]: So, I'm throwing him across the room.
01:09:14 --> 01:09:16 [JOHN]: Don't know necessarily what he's going to do.
01:09:17 --> 01:09:19 [JOHN]: And so, I kind of like this little bit of a
01:09:20 --> 01:09:21 [JOHN]: harser edge.
01:09:22 --> 01:09:36 [JOHN]: He yet with the white vision and yeah I think it's just a really sort of great touch and I love that interaction with the paladin as he then kind of you know you just switch it
01:09:42 --> 01:09:47 [JOHN]: There's more to this world than science, there's monsters, where there's wizards and witches.
01:09:47 --> 01:10:02 [JOHN]: And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and,
01:10:02 --> 01:10:09 [JOHN]: And so I loved all that, I just think it's really meaningful sort of interactions between these characters.
01:10:09 --> 01:10:21 [JOHN]: And of course, as well, the Paladin is connected to, I guess in the unknown at this moment in time around who is client actually, I was going to say the big real mysteries that we have.
01:10:21 --> 01:10:27 [DEREK]: We have an antagonist in Ultram, but the real big mystery is who put the hit ice on vision.
01:10:30 --> 01:10:46 [DEREK]: after every time that Paladin fails capturing vision, we hear that the client hacks into the handlers probably pretty secure communication lines and talks directly to Paladin, so I guess they're watching from wherever they are, they can be this guy.
01:10:46 --> 01:10:48 [DEREK]: What's this person?
01:10:48 --> 01:10:49 [DEREK]: Yeah, absolutely.
01:10:49 --> 01:10:52 [JOHN]: Yeah, I mean, I don't know, part of me is like going, you know,
01:10:53 --> 01:10:59 [JOHN]: It's sort technically around so it could be sort and also known as shield in space.
01:10:59 --> 01:11:11 [JOHN]: It's a remember from one shield in space because, you know, we kind of wondering how much traction that would get, certainly made it into the Marvel's movie, boss.
01:11:11 --> 01:11:17 [JOHN]: Again, is it something around them trying to find their assets or is it just something completely different?
01:11:18 --> 01:11:22 [JOHN]: And I think it is that I'm hoping it's that role than it being sort.
01:11:22 --> 01:11:25 [DEREK]: Well, they say that the weapon got away and maybe they want to get the weapon back.
01:11:25 --> 01:11:27 [DEREK]: That's why they're trying to get a vision back.
01:11:27 --> 01:11:27 [DEREK]: But...
01:11:28 --> 01:11:37 [DEREK]: Remember that was the way it was born agent of a of a sword that created this vision and he's gone that right Yes, he was taken out at the end of one division.
01:11:37 --> 01:11:54 [CHRIS]: So, um, the sword I'm particularly after No, it is called that the people have been looking for him and it's vision through everything Dimension sword, but they they aren't kind of like actively they everyone believes he got yeah like no more dead deceased
01:11:56 --> 01:12:02 [CHRIS]: but they also, they kind of sprinkling that they are, they hint that this could be ultra.
01:12:02 --> 01:12:10 [CHRIS]: Ultron is the voice, like you're too degree, I think they're trying to kind of point that direction.
01:12:12 --> 01:12:23 [CHRIS]: as you get to the end of the episodes where you see the voice from beyond calling in.
01:12:24 --> 01:12:27 [CHRIS]: Oltron is already doing something and kind of conversing into something.
01:12:27 --> 01:12:27 [CHRIS]: Now.
01:12:29 --> 01:12:30 [CHRIS]: maybe we'll find it someone else.
01:12:30 --> 01:12:42 [CHRIS]: But I think the reveal will be it will be a well-known character that we know who this person is, remember the power broker select there.
01:12:44 --> 01:12:48 [CHRIS]: That's true, that's a agent Sharon Carter, agent 13.
01:12:49 --> 01:12:51 [CHRIS]: She's still there from our days in the
01:12:57 --> 01:13:17 [CHRIS]: it's like I think there's enough people that it could be and I think they'll pull it out as a big mid-season oh my god is that person yeah I think that's the that's the the big piece yeah but that's that's the mystery can we don't have enough information right now we just know that they are they're able to hack in pretty easily too yeah
01:13:17 --> 01:13:39 [DEREK]: to the communications, and I just find it really interesting, as I say, within about three seconds of Paladin failing to kill Vision, which is what he's supposed to be doing or taking the vision, but within about three seconds, suddenly, this person's arriving to say, you failed, you know, so they're clearly have a way of watching odd to see a fail.
01:13:39 --> 01:13:42 [DEREK]: Let's move on to our final code line for this episode.
01:13:45 --> 01:13:51 [DEREK]: Codeline number five at Jarvis Sacrifice because we do need to talk about the final battle and what happens.
01:13:53 --> 01:14:12 [DEREK]: is still related to Paladin, because as we have vision following the leads to go to St. Maybans and save Tommy, we've talked about the escape already, so we don't need to go back over that, but as he's leaving Paladin arrives with his shock and full of Adam Antium bullets.
01:14:13 --> 01:14:14 [DEREK]: Where do you get those from?
01:14:16 --> 01:14:32 [DEREK]: when you saw the reveal of that amount to him in this universe back in back in Captain America, a brave new world, where there was a battle over Tiamatus, the celestial island from from a turtle's land, the uh, the uh, add a mountain was there, so he's got his hands and some of the add a mountain to make these bullets.
01:14:32 --> 01:14:33 [DEREK]: Um, I'd really like this.
01:14:33 --> 01:14:35 [DEREK]: I'd just like the touch I think it's very funny.
01:14:35 --> 01:14:42 [DEREK]: that he has four bullets, shoots all four bullets and goes, oh, because he didn't bring enough adamant him to actually fully tight-ed vision.
01:14:42 --> 01:14:49 [DEREK]: He might kill him, but vision still standing and still powerful enough to take Paladin down.
01:14:49 --> 01:14:54 [DEREK]: I just think it's quite funny that he didn't have enough bullets even though he has the something that can actually attack vision.
01:14:55 --> 01:15:03 [DEREK]: I love that vision went in and was so confident that he'd be able to do because he's like, well, you know, nobody can take that and this vibranium body of mine, what are you gonna do?
01:15:03 --> 01:15:04 [DEREK]: And he does have
01:15:06 --> 01:15:07 [JOHN]: Yeah, absolutely.
01:15:07 --> 01:15:24 [JOHN]: I think what's this is also just before this, we do is where we have Mission impossible, Edith coming down, what we start going through the sort of fashion inconsistencies as well, which is really good.
01:15:24 --> 01:15:31 [JOHN]: Yeah, I mean, I wasn't kind of expecting the job as sacrifice,
01:15:36 --> 01:15:49 [JOHN]: destabilizing because of the EMP page and the trap that has been set and you get the destabilizing then of the visions processes.
01:15:49 --> 01:15:53 [JOHN]: So you have then Jarvis, I think.
01:15:55 --> 01:15:56 [JOHN]: sacrificing himself.
01:15:56 --> 01:16:00 [JOHN]: But again, it feels like it's queued up by Ultron.
01:16:00 --> 01:16:04 [JOHN]: You're saying, you know, the noble self-sacrifice.
01:16:04 --> 01:16:07 [JOHN]: This would be a good result for the noble self-sacrifice.
01:16:07 --> 01:16:09 [JOHN]: And, you know, as he's diverts,
01:16:11 --> 01:16:25 [JOHN]: his processing power to you see it going into Friday, dummy, you, Edith, and I presume Ultron as well after the MP has opened his own cage up.
01:16:25 --> 01:16:29 [JOHN]: because that's where he escapes from his upstairs room.
01:16:29 --> 01:16:30 [DEREK]: So I thought this is interesting.
01:16:30 --> 01:16:41 [DEREK]: I know it's on a major point, but you see it go into vision because vision is able to stand up afterwards and you see it happened with Edith, you see it happened with Tommy and you and I'm afraid, you don't see it happen.
01:16:41 --> 01:16:42 [DEREK]: No, you don't.
01:16:42 --> 01:16:47 [DEREK]: You see it all, you see it all, you're talking to the room with all the rest of the AIs and saying this would be a great time for a sacrifice.
01:16:48 --> 01:16:51 [DEREK]: Not me and then you see him standing outside visions body going.
01:16:52 --> 01:16:54 [DEREK]: Oh, he was like he wasn't even second on my list.
01:16:54 --> 01:16:56 [DEREK]: I'm really sorry to see Jarvis go.
01:16:57 --> 01:17:01 [DEREK]: But he was he talking about the only person that would sacrifice themselves was going to be Jarvis.
01:17:02 --> 01:17:05 [CHRIS]: No, I think put it all the thing you I think it was like you were dummy.
01:17:06 --> 01:17:16 [CHRIS]: Yeah, maybe like those two like maybe talks about he calls him expendable or something Right similar when he they they go to fetch him and bring him down.
01:17:16 --> 01:17:23 [DEREK]: Yeah, um earlier in the show Because I'm in size ways To get him out of the loop.
01:17:23 --> 01:17:25 [DEREK]: I literally just thought it was ultra I'm just pushing
01:17:27 --> 01:17:30 [DEREK]: Jarvis over the cliff edge knowing that he would take the base basically.
01:17:30 --> 01:17:41 [JOHN]: Well, it might be, but I mean, because even just before that, I mean, and it's one of the really great moments actually of episode two for me, and it just kind of it it kicks off.
01:17:44 --> 01:17:45 [JOHN]: Ultram.
01:17:47 --> 01:18:08 [JOHN]: really persuading vision to go after Tommy when they go over and the episode is Thesis, and where he goes over, you know, the philosophical question of Thesis that we saw at the end of one division, the notion of once you've updated, replaced, repaired, changed all the, the
01:18:17 --> 01:18:30 [JOHN]: Well, it's just a philosophical question and it says, but it's BS, you get so lost of in the question that you don't think about the king, that's why, you know, Thesis or the story.
01:18:31 --> 01:18:39 [JOHN]: And that is that Thesis built the ship to go and save the children of his country from a monster that gets lost.
01:18:39 --> 01:18:42 [JOHN]: And it says, when a monster has your son, don't
01:18:43 --> 01:18:45 [JOHN]: be the god damn king.
01:18:46 --> 01:18:55 [JOHN]: And then you have that little nautrum where he says, long, if the king to vision, I'm like, hey, so is this also kind of just this
01:18:58 --> 01:19:06 [JOHN]: just pre-determining something around this as well, how this is being thought of whether it's through the client.
01:19:06 --> 01:19:11 [JOHN]: I'm not entirely sure, but it's just so thematically quite nice.
01:19:11 --> 01:19:15 [JOHN]: What happens there with both of those things that I'm like going.
01:19:17 --> 01:19:41 [JOHN]: yeah it's just really good and it also just connects to one division so there's a there's a real of thematic connection going on here and I really like how it's kind of picked apart by Altron to say it's it's just a sophomore sort of word salad and you know this counterfactual that's being done but it's fit philosophical nonsense because you forget about the actual story
01:19:42 --> 01:19:47 [DEREK]: And in fact, as they were built, they rebuilt the ship over and over again to honor the sacrifice that the King made.
01:19:47 --> 01:19:49 [DEREK]: Be the King, re-re-like that.
01:19:50 --> 01:20:00 [DEREK]: And very dangerous of Terry Mathlustin, right this into a script, because that line from Jack Shaefer was the underpinning of what happened to vision at the end of one division.
01:20:00 --> 01:20:01 [DEREK]: It's a massive moment.
01:20:01 --> 01:20:07 [DEREK]: Loads people know that, quote, loads people, we're talking about the, that, that, that,
01:20:08 --> 01:20:17 [DEREK]: Talks experiment I guess back when that was in one division and then to five years later to go back on your first episode, rewrite that story.
01:20:17 --> 01:20:22 [DEREK]: It's a very interesting attack to take in your new show, isn't it?
01:20:22 --> 01:20:27 [CHRIS]: Yeah, and I'm very interested to see what how
01:20:28 --> 01:20:53 [CHRIS]: the world takes that because it is iconic now, the thesis experiment, okay, it was a college thing from years, for years, for years, but it became pop culture because of the shell, like this shell that they should, the shell predecessor, and the character, and you're right, he basically goes, but it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.
01:20:54 --> 01:21:04 [CHRIS]: And it's a really good way of saying it like if he if he had of just turned around and went to his mother Yeah, it's not it don't think then you're like okay.
01:21:04 --> 01:21:12 [CHRIS]: Well, yeah, this is just a new person throwing out the toys with the bathwater because they don't want to be they want their own thing
01:21:12 --> 01:21:13 [CHRIS]: No, no, no, no.
01:21:13 --> 01:21:18 [CHRIS]: He has paid homage throughout this episode to both grief and the ship of these years.
01:21:19 --> 01:21:27 [CHRIS]: And because of that, he's paid homage, but he's given it the updated version of what it means within his show.
01:21:27 --> 01:21:27 [CHRIS]: Yes.
01:21:28 --> 01:21:29 [CHRIS]: And I think that's the cool point.
01:21:29 --> 01:21:33 [JOHN]: And it's also, it's Ultron saying, actually there's
01:21:33 --> 01:21:36 [JOHN]: There's two things to take away from this.
01:21:36 --> 01:21:48 [JOHN]: There is the philosophical question of Thesis' ship, but in this moment, if you are looking for it to inspire you, or as Altra said, you know, where he's trying to stir vision interaction.
01:21:49 --> 01:21:49 [JOHN]: It's that,
01:21:50 --> 01:22:01 [JOHN]: be the King Thesis and go after the monster, which is getting your song or a child, you know, or young adult, like whatever it is.
01:22:01 --> 01:22:02 [JOHN]: And I think you're right.
01:22:02 --> 01:22:10 [JOHN]: I think this is a really nice way of sort of thematically bringing something through as a through line.
01:22:10 --> 01:22:11 [JOHN]: And also then just
01:22:13 --> 01:22:27 [JOHN]: as they put in their own spin on it but not undermining the initial one because that as well as a conversation between two visioners who are very philosophical and it made sense for that.
01:22:27 --> 01:22:30 [JOHN]: It's the same notion, the same idea here.
01:22:32 --> 01:22:35 [JOHN]: It's the work in the code saying,
01:22:37 --> 01:22:45 [JOHN]: trying to get him to understand more about himself and he uses that as his sort of spring board.
01:22:45 --> 01:22:49 [JOHN]: And it also ultimately leads then to job as a sacrifice.
01:22:49 --> 01:22:56 [JOHN]: So the point as well that I was trying to sort of bring through this was that it feels like, you know, he sets this up.
01:22:56 --> 01:22:56 [JOHN]: Yes.
01:22:57 --> 01:23:05 [JOHN]: And then he kind of his cage is sprung for himself while vision is in his EMP cage.
01:23:07 --> 01:23:20 [JOHN]: He comes out, talks about the noble self-sacrifice, probably realises that the stiff, upper-lipped British security AI, that's who is most likely to do it.
01:23:20 --> 01:23:25 [JOHN]: He may be a bit of red-haring and then has long lived the king.
01:23:25 --> 01:23:32 [JOHN]: Again, it's a nice encapsulation here of this, and I thought it was also just the shock
01:23:33 --> 01:23:40 [JOHN]: like Jarvis going into his, there is bytes at that moment as well.
01:23:40 --> 01:23:49 [JOHN]: I wasn't expecting that, and then we're suddenly wondering, oh well, we'll Friday be consumed somehow by the story.
01:23:49 --> 01:23:56 [JOHN]: Will Edith will dorme in you, you know, is that kind of part of the notion of that?
01:23:56 --> 01:23:58 [JOHN]: Yeah, so it'd be interesting.
01:24:00 --> 01:24:01 [CHRIS]: I think they might.
01:24:01 --> 01:24:02 [CHRIS]: I think they might do that.
01:24:02 --> 01:24:18 [CHRIS]: That all of them are consumed and become the part of the new vision and they all kind of give themselves and the part of their code into vision that creates him to be the third version of the vision.
01:24:18 --> 01:24:19 [CHRIS]: He's not the original.
01:24:19 --> 01:24:20 [CHRIS]: He's not the white.
01:24:20 --> 01:24:22 [CHRIS]: He's something else.
01:24:23 --> 01:24:25 [CHRIS]: And then I think what we will get is
01:24:26 --> 01:24:31 [CHRIS]: They're like, they keep it like that, or they'll do the usual of the usual.
01:24:31 --> 01:24:31 [CHRIS]: That's not fair.
01:24:32 --> 01:24:41 [CHRIS]: They'll do the trope where he has the power, he brings them back as an additional figment in his brain and no longer, yeah, something like that.
01:24:42 --> 01:24:42 [DEREK]: He creates them.
01:24:43 --> 01:24:47 [DEREK]: Yeah, but they can go out and be their own versions of this.
01:24:47 --> 01:24:53 [DEREK]: You know, by the end of this, so we may have a version of Friday, a version of either the walking round in the MCU.
01:24:53 --> 01:24:55 [DEREK]: But also it, you know,
01:24:55 --> 01:24:58 [DEREK]: Paul Basin, he's been around since the start of Iron Man, right?
01:24:58 --> 01:25:01 [DEREK]: We've been the voice of the way back to the original Iron Man.
01:25:01 --> 01:25:04 [DEREK]: He's been around as long as any other character in the movies.
01:25:05 --> 01:25:07 [DEREK]: And they've all had their moments and all said they're farewells.
01:25:07 --> 01:25:12 [DEREK]: I know some of them are coming back for Doom's Day now, but he's been around a very long time, let's say.
01:25:12 --> 01:25:14 [DEREK]: So this could be this one song.
01:25:14 --> 01:25:15 [DEREK]: It's the end of the trilogy.
01:25:15 --> 01:25:18 [DEREK]: This could be goodbye to vision in this universe as well.
01:25:18 --> 01:25:20 [DEREK]: So we don't know.
01:25:20 --> 01:25:23 [DEREK]: We still got six more episodes of the show to go.
01:25:24 --> 01:25:38 [DEREK]: do want to just close age with, you know, that moment with Tommy, who comes back to save, save it and get them in the car, take some away and the reason he does it is, as you mentioned generally around, because he says something, he wants to know the answers to the questions that he had.
01:25:38 --> 01:25:50 [DEREK]: Can you imagine, after the last year and a half of having all this stuff in your head that the person that has the person that has the only answers in the world for you, gets shot and killed in front of you and you run away and leave him behind to die, you know?
01:25:50 --> 01:25:51 [DEREK]: Yeah, I do like that.
01:25:51 --> 01:25:55 [DEREK]: He said, yeah, as you say, I do like he says, I have questions.
01:25:57 --> 01:26:08 [JOHN]: And again, you just have an ultra on popping up in the back seat, where he says, he didn't listen like father like son, I'm just like, it's all feels so low to it's from all.
01:26:08 --> 01:26:09 [JOHN]: Everything.
01:26:09 --> 01:26:10 [JOHN]: And I love it.
01:26:10 --> 01:26:11 [JOHN]: I'm absolutely there for it.
01:26:12 --> 01:26:15 [JOHN]: Because it makes it so kind of dense.
01:26:15 --> 01:26:19 [JOHN]: And half of it may never actually pan out, but I love it when you can
01:26:20 --> 01:26:25 [JOHN]: sort of just be theorizing about what might that might mean.
01:26:25 --> 01:26:26 [DEREK]: Exactly.
01:26:26 --> 01:26:26 [DEREK]: Yeah.
01:26:27 --> 01:26:28 [DEREK]: It always makes for a good feeling.
01:26:29 --> 01:26:29 [DEREK]: Absolutely.
01:26:30 --> 01:26:31 [DEREK]: Absolutely.
01:26:31 --> 01:26:34 [DEREK]: Before we close edge, I wrote our lines of code.
01:26:34 --> 01:26:34 [DEREK]: Any notes?
01:26:35 --> 01:26:37 [DEREK]: Anything else you want to attach to the episode?
01:26:37 --> 01:26:54 [JOHN]: I think we've mentioned it previously, but there is a little bit of a Star Trek Picard get together or reunion here with Terry Matales, Todd Sashwick and then Aller Brady, who plays Friday and they were all in Picard.
01:26:55 --> 01:26:56 [DEREK]: So that's kind of
01:26:57 --> 01:26:57 [JOHN]: Nice to see.
01:26:58 --> 01:26:59 [JOHN]: Yes, they're all great in that.
01:26:59 --> 01:26:59 [DEREK]: They were.
01:26:59 --> 01:27:04 [DEREK]: I remember going through those three seasons of the show and every time Todd's Staff was static in period.
01:27:04 --> 01:27:05 [DEREK]: We were like, oh, he's so good.
01:27:05 --> 01:27:08 [DEREK]: I hope he gets to spin off show and every time all the Brady appeared We were like, oh, she's fantastic.
01:27:08 --> 01:27:10 [DEREK]: I hope she's the new relationship for Karin.
01:27:10 --> 01:27:13 [DEREK]: Then she was going to ripen ice in the third season and tough.
01:27:13 --> 01:27:14 [DEREK]: That was Todd.
01:27:14 --> 01:27:17 [DEREK]: Staff Rick didn't get the sequel series that we hope he was going to get
01:27:18 --> 01:27:20 [DEREK]: But yeah, it's kind of cool to have them back here.
01:27:21 --> 01:27:30 [DEREK]: I know Kerry Condon originally voiced Friday in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we're already being the character here, at least in Irish Actress.
01:27:30 --> 01:27:32 [DEREK]: Doing the Irish for us again, you know?
01:27:32 --> 01:27:34 [DEREK]: But she hasn't said, hey boss, I'm here for you.
01:27:35 --> 01:27:38 [DEREK]: Yeah, so... Oh, it's so coming, you know.
01:27:39 --> 01:27:39 [DEREK]: Definitely.
01:27:39 --> 01:27:40 [DEREK]: You know it.
01:27:40 --> 01:27:42 [CHRIS]: An aura died a little bit inside.
01:27:43 --> 01:27:44 [DEREK]: You had to record it.
01:27:44 --> 01:27:51 [DEREK]: That's my carry-comment didn't come back and one of the things for my notes I just wanted to mention it because the show is based in the UK.
01:27:51 --> 01:27:59 [DEREK]: We have a based in Edinburgh here Just some American writing errors and really surprised the Paul that they didn't pull them up on some of these things That are in there.
01:27:59 --> 01:28:11 [DEREK]: We have the fact they're calling it at Borough Rather than Edinburgh Which is a very American tourist thing as opposed to someone that's lived in the UK You know very quickly it's Edinburgh, right?
01:28:12 --> 01:28:23 [DEREK]: but also there's a conversation between vision and his boss where she's inviting over to Sunday roast and she says, I'm not going to make your taste the blood pudding with the roast.
01:28:23 --> 01:28:27 [DEREK]: Like who does black pudding with a roast?
01:28:28 --> 01:28:41 [DEREK]: Who calls it blood pudding when they're describing it as ugly else even if she was saying Haggis with the Sunday roast You could get that as a bit of a joke, but He's British She suspects he's British, right?
01:28:41 --> 01:28:44 [DEREK]: He has a British has an accent Yeah, he's not American.
01:28:44 --> 01:28:46 [DEREK]: He's not a tourist from America.
01:28:46 --> 01:28:52 [JOHN]: Yeah, I mean, unless you there is blood pudding There's wait with the right thing.
01:28:52 --> 01:28:53 [CHRIS]: There's blood pudding stuffing
01:28:54 --> 01:28:55 [CHRIS]: There's black pudding stuffing.
01:28:55 --> 01:28:57 [CHRIS]: My god, I'm saying it now.
01:28:58 --> 01:29:08 [CHRIS]: It's just saying it now because we said black pudding stuffing, which is black pudding with kind of mixed into your usual chicken stuffing.
01:29:08 --> 01:29:14 [CHRIS]: Yeah, like that's the only time I've ever heard of pudding and stuffing together.
01:29:14 --> 01:29:15 [DEREK]: It's like they wanted to get.
01:29:16 --> 01:29:28 [DEREK]: The two things in there, Sunday roast is really popular for inviting mates over to have dinner, having a fry up with black pudding is really popular, particularly in the north of England, and it's got the load pudding just stands disgusting.
01:29:28 --> 01:29:30 [JOHN]: Yeah, so they want to get the joke in better.
01:29:30 --> 01:29:31 [DEREK]: No, it is.
01:29:31 --> 01:29:34 [DEREK]: The rice, it is blood pudding, but it's like, but some would not say that.
01:29:34 --> 01:29:42 [DEREK]: And the other one that I thought was a pretty unacceptable for some reason, and it's just the tie back to one division on the sitcoms.
01:29:42 --> 01:29:47 [DEREK]: For some reason, Ultron in a pull-up in Edinburgh is watching on television Sanford and Sons.
01:29:48 --> 01:29:54 [DEREK]: Now, Sanford and Sons was the 70s American remake of a very, very famous British sitcom, Stepto and Sons.
01:29:54 --> 01:29:57 [DEREK]: And I've never seen an episode of it on television in the UK.
01:29:58 --> 01:29:58 [DEREK]: ever.
01:29:59 --> 01:30:03 [DEREK]: So surely they would have step-to-and-son on TV there.
01:30:04 --> 01:30:04 [JOHN]: Yes.
01:30:04 --> 01:30:08 [DEREK]: I know they wanted to give a nod to a sitcom.
01:30:08 --> 01:30:08 [DEREK]: Yes.
01:30:08 --> 01:30:10 [DEREK]: And that's why he's tied into it.
01:30:10 --> 01:30:15 [DEREK]: But it would even if it was step-to-and-son, it didn't matter that it was San Francisco's on other than it's made for an American audience, right?
01:30:16 --> 01:30:34 [JOHN]: Absolutely and that's exactly why it must be but it would have been interesting to have the step-to-and-son and because actually then for the American origins that's a really deep like they've got to go and explore that and find out about that you know it's actually British people
01:30:38 --> 01:30:39 [JOHN]: I mean, it was awful.
01:30:39 --> 01:30:43 [CHRIS]: It should have been a lower lower, so it's just a really crazy American audience.
01:30:43 --> 01:30:45 [CHRIS]: That would be worse.
01:30:45 --> 01:30:48 [CHRIS]: I mean, that would not, that would have been brilliant.
01:30:48 --> 01:30:51 [CHRIS]: It would have been, it would have been, it's because there we have so many.
01:30:52 --> 01:30:54 [JOHN]: Because he says good moon and moon.
01:30:54 --> 01:30:55 [JOHN]: Good moon.
01:30:56 --> 01:30:57 [JOHN]: It would be fantastic.
01:30:57 --> 01:31:02 [DEREK]: Did you know that actually three members of the cast of a lower level of just started a podcast going through every episode of a lower level?
01:31:02 --> 01:31:03 [JOHN]: No, actually.
01:31:03 --> 01:31:09 [DEREK]: I think they may have, they may have, have called our, our transcriptions of our podcast.
01:31:09 --> 01:31:12 [DEREK]: I bet I had many, how many time have you mentioned a lower level of the course the last 16 years ago?
01:31:12 --> 01:31:14 [DEREK]: Hang on a second, there's money in this somewhere.
01:31:15 --> 01:31:15 [DEREK]: There isn't, guys.
01:31:15 --> 01:31:16 [DEREK]: There isn't.
01:31:16 --> 01:31:20 [DEREK]: Well, welcome to part of the game.
01:31:20 --> 01:31:27 [DEREK]: What last note for me that I wanted to mention, it episode two, the tattooed man, Chris, you mentioned the singing of the Christmas Carol.
01:31:27 --> 01:31:34 [DEREK]: The tattooed man that's on the bus singing is a singing jingle bells when Tommy and the Sarah's gay being the bus.
01:31:34 --> 01:31:37 [DEREK]: That's Heinzley Lloyd Barris, who played Baza on the hang worth John.
01:31:38 --> 01:31:42 [DEREK]: He's a lovely guy as well.
01:31:42 --> 01:31:47 [DEREK]: He's like, I'd probably used to track to this load, when we watched Pennyworth and we were broadcasting about Pennyworth.
01:31:47 --> 01:31:48 [DEREK]: So I'd quite see him on there.
01:31:48 --> 01:31:53 [DEREK]: It's just that really interesting to see a character actor like him that had quite a big role in Pennyworth.
01:31:53 --> 01:31:54 [DEREK]: Absolutely.
01:31:54 --> 01:32:00 [JOHN]: And the person guard actually was in the UK version of Shane.
01:32:00 --> 01:32:01 [JOHN]: He was as well.
01:32:01 --> 01:32:02 [JOHN]: Yeah.
01:32:02 --> 01:32:04 [JOHN]: Which was really good.
01:32:04 --> 01:32:11 [DEREK]: a real surprise a character actor again who'd been around and thwart 12 seasons of shameless, which is just gonna put it in there.
01:32:11 --> 01:32:12 [DEREK]: I know exactly.
01:32:12 --> 01:32:18 [DEREK]: You think they're rebuilding them up to be this kind of antagonist for Tommy or something and then yeah get to put it to that.
01:32:18 --> 01:32:27 [JOHN]: But even then he comes back again and it's like later in the episode and you're like when he's been taken to Maven's, yeah, and with the gun, so you're like
01:32:28 --> 01:32:29 [JOHN]: Oh, he's still round, okay.
01:32:29 --> 01:32:31 [JOHN]: How is this gonna play out bang?
01:32:31 --> 01:32:34 [JOHN]: Okay, that is not Well, it does, but it's abrupt.
01:32:34 --> 01:32:35 [JOHN]: It's very rough.
01:32:35 --> 01:32:36 [JOHN]: Absolutely.
01:32:37 --> 01:32:39 [DEREK]: I thought it for Biden, so the other notes, anything else you want to mention?
01:32:41 --> 01:32:42 [JOHN]: Nothing from my said.
01:32:42 --> 01:32:43 [JOHN]: No, nothing from my side either.
01:32:44 --> 01:32:50 [CHRIS]: I just am absolutely sharp there's an all-oh-oh podcast that I'm like, I really want to listen to this thing.
01:32:50 --> 01:32:54 [CHRIS]: There's they have three seasons of good love of it, like back to back, ready?
01:32:56 --> 01:32:57 [DEREK]: Excellent, excellent.
01:32:58 --> 01:33:05 [DEREK]: I don't even know about it because it's all video of the actor replies a hair flick in full costume and inviting people to listen to his new podcast.
01:33:06 --> 01:33:06 [DEREK]: Excellent.
01:33:06 --> 01:33:08 [DEREK]: And he'll say it only once of course.
01:33:09 --> 01:33:12 [DEREK]: But all is enough enough.
01:33:12 --> 01:33:37 [DEREK]: I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't
01:33:39 --> 01:33:42 [DEREK]: TV stations keep an eye on newspapers.
01:33:42 --> 01:33:45 [DEREK]: There are some references that we'll play out as the season goes on.
01:33:46 --> 01:33:49 [DEREK]: That we're not going to talk about here because we don't want to spoil anything for anybody.
01:33:49 --> 01:33:53 [DEREK]: But with that guys, I think we're on to our final section, finalish section.
01:33:54 --> 01:33:57 [DEREK]: Do you defend vision quest episode one and two?
01:33:57 --> 01:33:57 [DEREK]: Chris.
01:33:58 --> 01:34:00 [CHRIS]: Yes, I am not even burying the lead here.
01:34:01 --> 01:34:02 [CHRIS]: I really enjoyed this.
01:34:03 --> 01:34:05 [CHRIS]: It does need to be viewed back to back.
01:34:05 --> 01:34:08 [CHRIS]: That's why we're broadcasting about it back to back.
01:34:08 --> 01:34:10 [CHRIS]: The first episode is very much...
01:34:14 --> 01:34:16 [CHRIS]: getting you up to speed as much as possible.
01:34:17 --> 01:34:25 [CHRIS]: I still feel, unfortunately, it does feel slightly like you do need to do homework in order to get the most out of this.
01:34:25 --> 01:34:38 [CHRIS]: You need to have watch one division and I get the long and I feel it is slightly attracted by that but I think most people
01:34:40 --> 01:34:42 [CHRIS]: who are going to be watching Vision Quest.
01:34:43 --> 01:34:47 [CHRIS]: We'll have watched the other two series anyway.
01:34:47 --> 01:34:52 [CHRIS]: And I do typically Marvel will tonight or tomorrow in the US.
01:34:52 --> 01:34:59 [CHRIS]: We'll put out a here's everything you need to know YouTube video of kind of previously on.
01:35:01 --> 01:35:03 [CHRIS]: And we'll get most people to speak.
01:35:04 --> 01:35:08 [CHRIS]: Otherwise they're just linked to YouTubers who have done it already multiple times.
01:35:08 --> 01:35:09 [DEREK]: We should do that.
01:35:09 --> 01:35:10 [DEREK]: We should do that.
01:35:10 --> 01:35:11 [CHRIS]: We should.
01:35:11 --> 01:35:11 [CHRIS]: If we had time.
01:35:11 --> 01:35:15 [DEREK]: I could read out my cheat notes that I wrote for this episode.
01:35:15 --> 01:35:17 [DEREK]: I could do that as a matter of time.
01:35:18 --> 01:35:23 [CHRIS]: And this it was a good, it's a good solid foundation.
01:35:23 --> 01:35:27 [CHRIS]: It sets up enough that I want to watch more, and that's all I really need it right now.
01:35:28 --> 01:35:28 [CHRIS]: Yeah.
01:35:29 --> 01:35:30 [CHRIS]: So yes, I defend.
01:35:31 --> 01:35:36 [CHRIS]: John, do you defend this episode or these episodes?
01:35:36 --> 01:35:37 [CHRIS]: Of vision quest?
01:35:38 --> 01:35:43 [JOHN]: Yes, I absolutely do defend these two episodes of vision quest.
01:35:43 --> 01:35:51 [JOHN]: I'll give it four and a half blood puddings with nightmare onlets out of five just to give it the breakfast theme.
01:35:51 --> 01:35:55 [JOHN]: Yes, that should be for the old blood pudding.
01:35:55 --> 01:35:57 [JOHN]: Yes, because it doesn't go with roasts.
01:35:58 --> 01:36:00 [JOHN]: But no, I absolutely love these.
01:36:00 --> 01:36:10 [JOHN]: I think Cam, I think like we've said, is really good to release them both together And I mean episode one is really is a good amount of time.
01:36:10 --> 01:36:19 [JOHN]: It's like 50 odd minutes Second one slightly shorter, but I feel the quite condensed that like they feel quite condensed.
01:36:19 --> 01:36:20 [JOHN]: There's a lot in them
01:36:22 --> 01:36:33 [JOHN]: But not necessarily much story, so I am lacking the overall themes here around someone trying to find themselves to try and find meaning.
01:36:33 --> 01:36:46 [JOHN]: That quote that I had forgotten about it, that vision talks about to all-chong is basically vision saying, I have his memories, but not his feelings, I have his face, but not his virtue.
01:36:47 --> 01:36:50 [JOHN]: All I can feel is the weight of him, his legacy.
01:36:50 --> 01:36:52 [JOHN]: his worthiness and his name.
01:36:53 --> 01:37:04 [JOHN]: And I just think it's this notion of him being untethered, I think is another word that he uses and like it feels untethered.
01:37:05 --> 01:37:09 [JOHN]: He doesn't quite understand the version of who he should be.
01:37:09 --> 01:37:16 [JOHN]: And I like how that just like connects in with Thomas Shepherd.
01:37:17 --> 01:37:19 [JOHN]: and Tommy Maximoff here.
01:37:19 --> 01:37:29 [JOHN]: This trying to understand what's happened, understand himself, understand these two realities that has happened to Thomas Shepherd.
01:37:30 --> 01:37:36 [JOHN]: And I think it's really interesting sort of alleyway that they're going down here.
01:37:36 --> 01:37:38 [JOHN]: I love Ultron here as I say.
01:37:40 --> 01:37:49 [JOHN]: I think James Spader could be just the voice I put in at night and I would suddenly become brain surgeon and have great sleep.
01:37:49 --> 01:37:51 [JOHN]: It would just be one of those things.
01:37:51 --> 01:37:52 [JOHN]: Really good.
01:37:53 --> 01:37:57 [JOHN]: I'm loving all the AI synths in there as well.
01:37:57 --> 01:38:00 [JOHN]: So absolutely, I defend these
01:38:01 --> 01:38:11 [JOHN]: first two episodes of VisionQuest and I think combined I'd give them four and a half blue puddings with nightmare omelets out of five fantastic.
01:38:12 --> 01:38:16 [JOHN]: Derek, do you defend these two episodes of VisionQuest?
01:38:18 --> 01:38:27 [DEREK]: Yep, I absolutely defend that I loved every minute of time that we spent with Paul Petney in the solo as vision and all of the AI I think the cast together is really good.
01:38:28 --> 01:38:34 [DEREK]: You know, it's a real surprise originally to as the trailers were coming out and as the information was coming out of the show.
01:38:35 --> 01:38:45 [DEREK]: who they were bringing into the show was just really surprising all of the former AI is really cool to have them all in their human having her as having Ultron here is fantastic.
01:38:45 --> 01:38:47 [DEREK]: They're spated doing such a brilliant job.
01:38:47 --> 01:38:51 [DEREK]: You know, I think Chris you mentioned him being really famous for Boston legal.
01:38:52 --> 01:39:00 [DEREK]: I'm a kid of the 80s as well and he was always the really greasy villainous bad guy and all the rum comes of the 80s as well.
01:39:00 --> 01:39:01 [DEREK]: That's why I still remember him as
01:39:02 --> 01:39:20 [DEREK]: and now he's got this brilliant villain role all the way this many years later now that he's playing up to so well they don't miss a step even though we saw him in that initial moment as old trial and then he becomes the human avatar he's still just as fantastic to watch in either form which I love
01:39:21 --> 01:39:21 [DEREK]: as well.
01:39:21 --> 01:39:22 [DEREK]: So yeah, really enjoying it.
01:39:23 --> 01:39:31 [DEREK]: Love Paladin, love the idea of this, of this hit egg on Ultram, the mystery there as to who it is that wants to kill the former Avenger.
01:39:32 --> 01:39:33 [DEREK]: What's going on there?
01:39:33 --> 01:39:35 [DEREK]: That's really, really interesting and really intriguing.
01:39:36 --> 01:39:37 [DEREK]: And I'm, I'm loving seeing.
01:39:38 --> 01:39:39 [DEREK]: this Tommy Maxim off story.
01:39:39 --> 01:39:43 [DEREK]: We spent time with both Tommy and Billy back in one division.
01:39:43 --> 01:39:51 [DEREK]: We had a whole season of a show dedicated to Billy finding himself and now we have Tommy in a completely different circumstance trying to find himself as well.
01:39:51 --> 01:40:02 [DEREK]: So I love the connection between the three seasons of this overarching MCU show, which pretty much started the MCU on TV with the one division and will probably end the MCU on TV with
01:40:06 --> 01:40:16 [DEREK]: Even though we will be seeing some other MCU projects in future, I think this might be the book and they're looking for for that story line as well So yeah, I'm quite a great way to kick it off.
01:40:17 --> 01:40:17 [JOHN]: Yeah, absolutely.
01:40:18 --> 01:40:19 [JOHN]: Absolutely.
01:40:19 --> 01:40:25 [DEREK]: I think we need to go to the local pub for a point Yes, I'm not gonna.
01:40:25 --> 01:40:29 [JOHN]: It's got a drags Okay, yeah, so what probably going to done?
01:40:29 --> 01:40:35 [JOHN]: Well, yes, welcome fellow defenders and at fellow quizzes two
01:40:35 --> 01:40:39 [JOHN]: The old Selky Vision Crest Pope quiz.
01:40:39 --> 01:40:39 [JOHN]: Yes.
01:40:40 --> 01:40:43 [DEREK]: We had so hard to get the name of the Pope.
01:40:43 --> 01:40:46 [DEREK]: We were posing it back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.
01:40:46 --> 01:40:51 [DEREK]: We had it written down as the old Sikh Pope, but back 12 times, I totally find out what a Selky was.
01:40:52 --> 01:40:55 [DEREK]: And so, yeah, the old Selky is definitely the name of the Pope.
01:40:55 --> 01:40:56 [JOHN]: It certainly is.
01:40:57 --> 01:41:01 [JOHN]: But yes, welcome back everyone who does enjoy a good old poke quiz.
01:41:02 --> 01:41:03 [JOHN]: It is the old Selki.
01:41:04 --> 01:41:09 [JOHN]: Get yourselves a 12 year old swoffer if it actually does exist.
01:41:09 --> 01:41:12 [JOHN]: And if not, just make it up in your mind.
01:41:12 --> 01:41:13 [JOHN]: It's a construct.
01:41:14 --> 01:41:14 [JOHN]: Yes.
01:41:14 --> 01:41:15 [JOHN]: We have two questions for
01:41:19 --> 01:41:20 [JOHN]: this podcast.
01:41:20 --> 01:41:26 [JOHN]: For episode one, we have what electrical store is vision hiding out in.
01:41:28 --> 01:41:37 [DEREK]: You know, if the show was based in the U.S., I was wondering if it would be the same electronic store radio shack that the Captain Marvel was in back in her movie, but it's based in the UK.
01:41:37 --> 01:41:38 [DEREK]: So that's to be something else.
01:41:38 --> 01:41:39 [DEREK]: It's not radio shack.
01:41:39 --> 01:41:40 [DEREK]: There you go.
01:41:40 --> 01:41:41 [DEREK]: That's my clue.
01:41:42 --> 01:41:42 [DEREK]: What's the second question?
01:41:43 --> 01:41:51 [JOHN]: And the second question is, what wing of St. Maven's psychiatric hospital is Thomas Sheffers locked in by the pallidine?
01:41:52 --> 01:41:52 [JOHN]: Interesting.
01:41:53 --> 01:41:54 [JOHN]: All right, so that's a tough one.
01:41:55 --> 01:41:56 [JOHN]: Bush, you'll be able to get it.
01:41:57 --> 01:41:57 [DEREK]: It is set on screen.
01:41:58 --> 01:41:59 [DEREK]: John, do you want to give those two questions one more time?
01:42:00 --> 01:42:05 [JOHN]: Yes, for episode one, what electrical store is vision hiding outing?
01:42:07 --> 01:42:16 [JOHN]: And for episode two, question two, what wing of St. Mayburn's psychiatric hospital is Thomas Shepherd locked in by the Paladin.
01:42:17 --> 01:42:18 [DEREK]: fantastic.
01:42:18 --> 01:42:30 [DEREK]: That's the first two questions I'll waste at the end of the season when you get all a questions, give us the correct answers email them into feedback at TV, podcast industries.com and you can get your hands on some vision quest goodies.
01:42:31 --> 01:42:31 [DEREK]: That's us.
01:42:31 --> 01:42:34 [DEREK]: Thank you so much for joining us for our chat all of it.
01:42:34 --> 01:42:35 [DEREK]: The first two episodes of Vision Cust.
01:42:35 --> 01:42:41 [DEREK]: We will be back next week for our chat about episode three, reboot and episode four malware.
01:42:41 --> 01:42:43 [DEREK]: Those two episodes are going to be released
01:42:45 --> 01:42:48 [DEREK]: very special dates in the TAB podcast industry's calendar.
01:42:50 --> 01:42:51 [CHRIS]: A very special day.
01:42:51 --> 01:43:00 [JOHN]: Because someone, somewhere in the defender's mind construct, is, uh, is having a birthday.
01:43:00 --> 01:43:00 [JOHN]: Oh, yeah.
01:43:01 --> 01:43:03 [JOHN]: Uh, the big five.
01:43:03 --> 01:43:07 [JOHN]: Oh, that's the reason you remember the Viva Vendetta comics.
01:43:10 --> 01:43:19 [JOHN]: I think I remember the first appearance of Paladin and the incredible Palmix as well.
01:43:19 --> 01:43:23 [DEREK]: Remember the 1970s, yes, absolutely.
01:43:23 --> 01:43:29 [DEREK]: So, yes, this is also the other reason why we're doing two episodes a week, because there's quite a lot going on around my 50th birthday, and I'm getting old.
01:43:29 --> 01:43:33 [DEREK]: So, merging all these together makes it a bit easier.
01:43:33 --> 01:43:35 [DEREK]: And we're going to be celebrating a lot of time together.
01:43:36 --> 01:43:38 [DEREK]: it's side of the microphones over the next couple of weeks.
01:43:38 --> 01:43:39 [DEREK]: Yes, indeed.
01:43:40 --> 01:43:40 [CHRIS]: We will.
01:43:41 --> 01:43:53 [CHRIS]: But if you have feedback on Derek's pending doom as he kind of crests that hill into the 40s, I mean, the new 50s.
01:43:53 --> 01:43:56 [DEREK]: Oh, you can podcast going to be really sure Chris.
01:43:56 --> 01:43:59 [CHRIS]: Yeah, you can, you can send it to feedback
01:44:05 --> 01:44:11 [CHRIS]: If you want one division, or act along, or more importantly, vision quest, because that's more on topic for this.
01:44:11 --> 01:44:22 [CHRIS]: So make sure you send that to feedback at TV podcast industries.com, or head on over to our Facebook group at Facebook.com slash TV podcast.
01:44:22 --> 01:44:31 [CHRIS]: And she's or make sure you head on over to our recently kicked off and quite active discord, which you can find in the show notes below.
01:44:32 --> 01:44:36 [DEREK]: Absolutely, yeah, looking forward to seeing you and looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the rest of the episodes.
01:44:36 --> 01:44:38 [DEREK]: Thanks so much for joining us with Tati and next time.
01:44:39 --> 01:44:39 [CHRIS]: Bye.
01:44:40 --> 01:44:42 [JOHN]: Yeah, thank you so much, fellow defenders.
01:44:42 --> 01:44:47 [JOHN]: Come and wait to speak to you about Episode 3 and 4.
01:44:47 --> 01:44:51 [JOHN]: Until then, of course, keep watching, keep listening and keep defending.
01:44:52 --> 01:44:52 [CHRIS]: Bye.
