[00:01:05] Welcome back, fellow guardians, to the Lanterns Podcast on TV Podcast Industries. We are back with the seventh episode of Lanterns, the penultimate episode of the season, The Jordan Boy's Legacy. I'm one of your hosts, Derek. And filling in for a very special John, I am Chris. He is a very special guy. He is very special. He's just not here with us. Hello? Hello? He was bitten by snakes. Fearful snakes.

[00:01:32] He was going across a lake, and yeah, no, he fell in. And there was no HAL construct, HAL clone, to save him. No, there wasn't. There wasn't. No, John's just away for work this week, and we know that next week we're going to be recording a little bit earlier than usual, and Chris won't be able to join us for that one. So we decided we'll switch it up. We'll have myself and Chris on this one. Myself and John recorded our thoughts on Avengers Endgame Encore in the cinema this week as well.

[00:01:59] So I've been on two podcasts this week, and one for each of the guys. And then John will be back next week for the finale of Lanterns. Ah, it's going to be good. Not too bad. It's not too bad. And then, of course, we'll have our final wrap-up episode where hopefully we'll get all three of us together. No, we will. But without further ado, I think we need to get into our chat all about the seventh episode of Lanterns. Showrunners for the show, of course, are Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, who we've mentioned throughout the series. Two of those showrunners, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, are the writers for this episode as well.

[00:03:42] So a bit of a touch from an alumnus of HBO DC with Damon Lindelof, the former head writer on Watchmen, and Tom King, a DC writer. A DC writer. So this is a bit more comic focused, a little bit more comic focused, I think. I think so.

[00:04:01] And I think also it is setting the groundwork for where the Lantern themed DC part of the DCU will kind of go. Interesting. So I think that's why those two have been picked or peaked for this. Well, yes, yes. That and their showrunners. So they get to choose what episodes they want to go on to themselves. I guess nobody's going to stop them, huh? No.

[00:04:30] Well, Glenn could, but maybe I don't think he would. No, I don't think he would. I don't think he would. Chris Mundy might have had something to say about it if he didn't want them doing it because he's the other showrunner. But the episodes this time was directed by Alec Sakharov. We've mentioned Alec a couple of times. He's directed four episodes of Game of Thrones in season two, three and four. Epic director, directed loads and loads of TV, including three episodes from the first season of The Witcher, which we covered here. I think he directed the first two episodes of The Witcher, which got so much acclaim.

[00:04:58] That show has continued on for four seasons with a fifth one, hopefully since it's fully filmed, going to appear at some point over the next year or two. I'd be not supposed to have that final season actually air since we know it's been filmed. Yeah, it's one of those ones that's like Coyote vs. Acme. It's like, we know it's there. Can you show us? No? No? No? Okay. You know they're just going to be some random Thursday.

[00:05:27] And it's out! All the episodes. Yeah, but they already did that with the Liam Hemsworth starring season four of The Witcher. And they have this fifth one already in the bag for over a year now. So, yeah. They've already dropped one season. They need to drop the other season. Well, no. They could also be just waiting for Henry Cavill to get it. Highlander. When Highlander comes out, that's where they go. Hey, you remember this guy? Yeah? See? He's cool. Look.

[00:05:56] No, here's the end of his show that he kind of got kicked off of. Anyway, bye. Yeah, but they'd have to get Henry Cavill to re-film all of Liam Hemsworth's scenes. No, they just have to bring him in right at the end. And they just don't. Like they didn't with Liam. Just don't make them change. Just like he just comes in right at the end. Or he's Cavalry, like in Deadpool and Wolverine, where he was.

[00:06:23] He's just another universal, multiversal kind of version of Geralt. It could be. It could be. Anyway. Alex Zakharov also directed eight episodes of Ozark. That's where he obviously got his connection with Chris Mundy, the showrunner of Ozark. So, yeah. So, a well-experienced director directing loads and loads of great television. So, great to have him on board for this intimate and galaxy-spanning episode. Jeez.

[00:06:52] And with that, Chris, do you want to tell us what they gave us with the synopsis for Lanterns Episode 7, The Jordan Boys' Legacy? Sure. In 1975, a young Hal Jordan is punished by his baseball coach for not being a team player. This sets up a habit of a lifetime as Hal won't give up the game ball to the kid chosen to replace him.

[00:07:16] His father, Martin, is proud of Hal and gives him a key to the family failsafe shortly before he died in a plane crash. Back in 2026, the Halogram refuses to cooperate with John Stewart to help solve the suspected murder of Hal Jordan and forces him to meet with Sheriff Kerry Kane to verify his claims.

[00:07:40] Afterwards, the Halogram suspects file play from Kerry and insists John check out Hal's storage without her. Upon opening Hal's vault, they find a portal that leads to another planet, which John recognises as Antan's homeworld. They travel towards an island in the middle of a lake, but John experiences a hallucination created by the remnants of a fever-inducing gas within the rain clouds.

[00:08:07] As visions of his father and his younger self accuse him of being afraid, John points a gun at his own head. The Halogram saves John by pushing him into the water. He yells. He tells John the story about Hal Jordan's family failsafe and that both his father and grandfather took their own lives. This is Hal's family legacy, leading John to suspect Hal may have killed himself.

[00:08:36] Arriving at the island, John and Halogram enter the structure at the centre and overpower Sinestro, who tries to attack them to escape the planet. And we found Sinestro once again. Yeah, and we didn't even know he was missing. We did know he was missing. Did we? Yes, yes. It was mentioned from Guy Gardner that he'd been broken out of prison when we saw Guy. Yes. Now I remember.

[00:09:04] It was a dropped line, but we were really speculating hard about what had happened. How the hell could he have broken out of this insane prison that you had to be a guardian to get into? And we still haven't found that out. We've just found here he is on a planet that Hal Jordan at least had access to. Yeah. It was like Azkaban. Yeah, Spacekaban, I think they called it. Spacekaban, yeah. Because they had to get their quota of Harry Potter references into their HBO show since they're coming out with their new show next year.

[00:09:31] So I have to make sure we get as many references to Harry Potter in there as we can. Do you remember Harry Potter? Remember? You remember? You used to like this? You remember? You're going to like it. You did. Before the writer did what she did. Anyway, we won't be promoting the Harry Potter series or watching it. Yes. We will be talking about our top three moments from this episode. Won't we? We absolutely will. Let's get into our top three moments. For this episode, we're going to start off with our power ring point number one.

[00:10:04] Four. And our power ring point number one is let go of the ball. I just love that we have the flashback that we were expecting for Hal Jordan. But a very tiny flashback to a very specific period of Hal Jordan's life back in 1975. Where he is playing a game of baseball. Or at least he has stopped a game of baseball from going ahead. Because why?

[00:10:31] Because the person in charge chose somebody else to take over from Hal's position. As the, I guess they call them bowlers in baseball. Yeah? Pitchers. So yeah. So his coach tried to take him out of the game. And tried to put someone else in instead of him. And Hal knew better. So he kept the game ball in his hand. Ending the game. And making the team forfeit. Sounds like a pattern that Hal has been repeating all the way throughout the rest of his life. Doesn't it? Yeah. And well look. You can kind of understand.

[00:11:01] Oh yeah. Poor little Hal. He was two or three bases away from a perfect game. He was pitching the whole thing. He was going to be great. And the coach wanted to take him out and replace him with someone else. Yeah. Who Hal didn't think was as qualified and could do it. Wouldn't allow them to get a perfect game. Do you know what I love about the writing of this as well? Just to your point Chris. You do believe him. You are on his side.

[00:11:30] We know Hal from the beginning of the series. We want to believe that he's in the right here. But what he actually says to his dad. Because I wrote it down. What he actually says to his dad is. I was pitching an almost no hitter dad. So an almost no hitter is not a perfect game. It's not the best game of your life. It's not. He hasn't had the perfect possible baseball game. He's just convinced he's in the right here. And his coach shouldn't have the choice to swap him out for somebody else. And this is a. What are they called? Little league baseball right?

[00:12:00] This is a young. A game. There's no massive pressure on them here. They're not in the World Series. They're not in a massive. They're not in a hugely competitive game. His coach in school is trying to swap him out for another member of the team. That also should get some experience of throwing pitches. Right? That's kind of it. And Hal's going. No. I know better. So that's why I think the whole team punching Hal. Because he wanted to give the game ball up. And them conceding the game to a team they were actually going to beat.

[00:12:30] That's why I see the justification from the other side. And then when his coach goes crazy on his father for his father going. What's the other kid's stats like? And the coach going. It doesn't matter what the kid's stats like. He needs to get the game ball back. Apologize to everybody. And we need to move along. And his father won't let it go. So they're two peas in the pod. He's convinced that Hal's right. Hal's absolutely convinced he's right. And once again. Someone in power tried to take away his job. And he was like. I'm having none of it.

[00:13:00] Yeah. It is interesting that also. This is the end of the league. The competition. They've gone. So this is the winning. They were going to go and win the game. And win the season. And this is the first time that dad's meeting the coach. Well. Yeah. Yep. So again. You're starting to get patterns here. And on the surface. There's not that much there. But underneath it. You can see. You do understand that from an early age. There's been a pattern of.

[00:13:30] As you say. And cockiness. Belief in oneself. But it's a learned pattern from his father. Absolutely. From who learned it. From his grandfather. So there is a legacy of this type of personality. Mm-hmm. Which also carries over not just to the Jordan legacy. But it's also in the Stuart legacy. Like this whole series. Really leaning into the predestined.

[00:13:59] Kind of. The legacy that one leaves with one's father. The. The. Not just one's. Father. But like. The mentor. Like the next generation. So you have like. Who. It actually even comes up really interestingly as well. When. Very much later on. I'm not going to say. Going there. But just to kind of. Point it in. Which is where. Stuart goes. Sorry. Hal goes.

[00:14:29] Did I not teach you about. Einstein. Rosen bridges. Mm-hmm. And he goes. You taught me two things. Yep. Jack. And shit. Uh-huh. And like. Again. Again. It's all about. What you've learned from your mentor. Your father. Your grandfather. Blah blah blah blah. Mm-hmm. So seeing this is. Yeah. Okay. We've learned where Hal is getting this. Yeah. Fast forward to. After the coach scene. We see them talk. And they start to talk about the fail safe.

[00:14:59] Mm-hmm. This starts to get. Interesting. Because. You start to hear what. Like. Okay. Well look. Sometimes people aren't going to come back. Be it from war. From a plane. From. Etc. Etc. Mm-hmm. Although his dad's planning to live to 100. Mm-hmm. And he doesn't mention fully. He's like. There's some cash in there. Some coins. Some things. Uh. Uh. Some bits. And a note. Yeah. But everything else. It's not.

[00:15:28] Not important. Mm-hmm. It's not for you to know. And then he. Transfers over this. The key to his fail safe. Yeah. And you're like. Oh. Okay. It's kind of a. Lockbox. They don't believe in. Um. Proper will and testament. Mm-hmm. Type thing. They. It's like. Okay. It's a. What could be in Hal's? And it's interesting. Because we do know. Hal has one too. Yeah. Um. So. Or.

[00:15:58] We. You can kind of. After this scene. You make an assumption that. Okay. Well. What's in the box. He's continued on. But the legacy. Yes. Yes. Again. Uh. We. We learn what the legacy is. Later on. But that. That is the point. Um. Where. Where he. Is looking at his son. Kind of. Realizing. Hal's quite similar to me now. It's about time. He gets the key to this. This lockbox. The. The thing that. I can't talk to anybody else. In the world. Uh. Um. My father gave me my key. When I was around his age. I'll give him. Uh.

[00:16:28] Give him the key to my lockbox. In case I'm gone. And he needs to. See this. Uh. I love that Hal goes. Shouldn't mom see this? And he goes. No no. This is just purely for. Our bloodline. This is for. The people in our family. Because of what's. In there. It's our legacy. So. Um. Yeah. So there's. That's kind of. Uh. Transitional. Generational trauma. That they're talking about. That's the. The connection between them. A really interesting opener. And I was really surprised. To have this. As being the flashback. You know. Again. If you watched the terrible. Green Lantern movie.

[00:16:58] The whole 20 minute opening. Of that. Is that. Is the time. When Hal. As a young kid. Is. Uh. Is worshipping his father. As the. The test pilot. And that's exactly the job. That Hal wants to go into. And he grows up. Um. Here. We don't see much of that at all. We see the two of them. Watching planes. And then we. See. Hal. At his father's funeral. Um. As a. As an immediate transition. Afterwards. And Hal. Uh. Throwing in soil. Into the. Into the coffin of his father. Um. That's it. We don't get much more. Of the story. Of who this guy is.

[00:17:28] Until. Uh. The conversation later on. With John. Yeah. It is interesting as well. That he's like. You need to let the ball go. Um. So his dad. Almost is trying to get him to. Release. The. The. The. The problem. Yeah. Absolutely. So his dad is telling him. How. To. Stop. The legacy. It's only later that we find out.

[00:17:59] That. That didn't happen as well. Yeah. He went back for the ball. Yeah. He threw the ball away while they were. While they were sitting there. And then went back for it after the funeral. So. Yeah. He can't let it go. That is the legacy of. Of the. The Jordan family. Yeah. Anything else on the flashback. Anything else on the early days. Of. Of. Of. Hal Jordan. That are in here. No. Not really. Like. We. We. We get. I was hoping to see more of the. The. The pilot. Of. The. Of Jordan. Senior.

[00:18:30] Because. We do. We have seen. Just in. The. Um. Um. But. I was hoping to see more of that. Because. I was hoping. That. That. That would also infer. On. Hal's. Kind of. Hal. Being a fighter pilot. Like. You. You brought up. Which is. We see a bit of that. Well. We see a lot of that in the. In the Ryan Reynolds film. Yeah. So I was hoping. To kind of.

[00:19:00] Almost get a bit more of that. But. I think they're also like. It's not important. Yeah. He's a lantern. He's not a fighter pilot. Exactly. And we're. We're focusing on. The. The other aspect of that. Yeah. And the story he's told everybody. That we heard in that initial. First episode. This first couple of minutes. Of that first episode. And the interview that Hal has. Um. The story that we've heard about it. Is that. The reason why he has no fear. Is because. He lost a parent. When he was a kid. Yeah. That's the story. He's telling the world. Outside of.

[00:19:30] Outside of. And outside of. Again. Kerry. And eventually John. Uh. The story he's been telling the world. Is he has no fear. Because. His father died when he was young. So. Uh. Really interesting one. Uh. Last tiny bit I love about this. Is just a transition. At the end. Where we have Hal. Uh. Throwing in the. Uh. Throwing the soil in. And it cuts to 2026. With. Uh. The hologram. Looking over the. The grave of. Of. Uh. Hal Jordan. Going. Ah. God damn it. Yeah. Uh. Really like that. Really like that. With that.

[00:19:59] Let's get on to our power ring point number two. Because that is the hologram returns. Uh. This was our cliffhanger from last week's episode. Uh. Bringing back the hologram. We had loads of theories as to why hologram. Uh. Was back. Um. Um. We were pretty much right. It is. John. Wants to continue the investigation. Needs a voice. Uh. Of Hal Jordan. To. Uh. To continue that. Um. But he doesn't get his own way at all. It's not as easy as he thought.

[00:20:28] It's a fun one. But you are really like. This is. Hal Jordan. You can kind of see the 2016. Hal Jordan. That we were. In Rushville with. You can see the beginning of it. You. That's. That. That cheeky grain. But you can also see. The nicer aspect of it. Definitely. Like the one he was. The. The Green Lantern he was. Back in. Nineteen. This is either. He's from 2006.

[00:20:58] Or is he from 1996? I think it was 1996. But yeah. I'd have to. I'd have to confirm it. Maybe it was. Maybe it was 2006. So I think 1996 was the one that we saw. Being interviewed on TV. Ten years. Yeah. So he's. Yeah. It's 2006. I think. So he's 2006. Because he said. When we meet him at the. First or second episode. On the road. He said it's been 10 years. Since I've been copied. Yeah. So yeah. There you go. So it's fun to see.

[00:21:28] This character. And it's great. That. This is potentially. How. We will continue to have. Hal Jordan. In. In. This universe. Uh huh. Throughout the next few. Years. If John Stewart. Ever bloody charges the ring. Stop it. Yeah. Yeah. Driving. Driving your mental. Where it's like. It starts out with. Five percent left. We know that charge. Is a very low charge. Um.

[00:21:58] And then. As the episode goes on. You hear that the hologram. Is able to listen in. On conversations. That Jon is having. With other people. He's able to repeat them back. He's able to. Bring himself back. To. Uh. Back out of the ring. Whenever he wants to. So how much power. Is that using. Out of the ring. It's like. Oh my god. Just stop it. I've got. You know. He says. I've got. We've got about an hour. Of talk time left. And you're going. Well don't use it. On total crap. Then. You know. Um. But I really like it. I really like the pushback.

[00:22:27] Between the two of them. But there are some lovely moments. Um. You know. Um. Even when. Jon takes off the ring. And puts it on the dashboard. And Hal's still there. And he goes. How the hell are you doing that? Um. You know. That's really impressive. I can't do that. The Guardians can't do that. That's really impressive. And Jon's going. Kind of taking it back here. Because. Uh. I never got any compliment. Whatsoever. From. Uh. The actual Hal Jordan. So. A great element. Of the hologram. Where.

[00:22:57] He's not just willing. To be allowed. To be used. As a tool. To do whatever. Jon Stewart wants. He doesn't really know Jon. He doesn't know anybody. That's involved in this. He doesn't know who killed. Hal Jordan. Obviously. But he's going to do a bit of. Investigation himself. Before he allows himself. To be used. As a tool. Which I really like. That's what this is all about. I love that he goes into the. Uh. The. Storage shed. The first time. And then starts playing charades with him. So Jon can't use his voice. And his charades are. Two words. Uh. First word.

[00:23:27] F. Second word. Off. And get outside. Basically. Um. Really like that. Yeah. And. For a split second. You do think. It's like. Oh. We're going to. We're going to see what's in the box. We're going to get there. And then we don't. And he wants to see Kerry. He wants to. Know. That this. Sheriff. He wants. That this person who. Hal was with. Mm. So we then are brought to. Rushville High. Uh huh.

[00:23:57] Um. For. The hat. Ceremony. Mm. Which is. Nothing. We really have in Ireland. Or in the UK. It is. Oh we do Chris. We have it in Hogwarts. Uh. When Harry's choosing what. Uh. What place. He. What school he goes to. In Hogwarts. They have the hat ceremony. So they've. Replicated this for. A college football team. Um. That's a. Young Macon is looking to. Uh. To look at the choose. And then does. Yes. So really.

[00:24:26] All you see is signs for. The hat choosing ceremony. All around town. I don't know why. They have it everywhere. So. I. From. I did check it. I don't know why. It would be everywhere. But I did think that like. This quarterback. Oh. The young Macon. He is. The. The four colleges. That. They are. They mentioning. They are. Sleathering. Oh sorry. Navy. Army. No. Um. So they are prestigious.

[00:24:56] Nashville. The Navy. Um. And they're well known. Yeah. College football teams. Um. And him going to be a quarterback on this. He's going to be. A big star. From their little hometown. One thousand and one people. Yeah. So. I kind of do get it. But. It is just a. And. Once again. The. The focus on Noah. Yeah. I am like. Okay. We know he has something to do with everything. Can we just.

[00:25:25] Start moving. And like. No. You are saving this big reveal. For. The finale. It's going to be. Oh my god. He's half. Half. Manhunter. Oh no. You never guessed it. Nobody guessed it at all. You're like. Okay. The focus on Noah. And. I'll also say. The focus on this character. Maggie. Who wants. Three hundred and fifteen thousand dollars. Um. And keeps coming back to it. Over and over again. With John. It feels. Like.

[00:25:54] Something really important. That we should be. That we're all missing. At least. I cannot think. Of a reason why. Maggie wants the specific amount. Of three hundred and fourteen thousand. And whatever. Uh. Smaller dollars. That she wants. Um. Um. But the fact. They keep bringing her back. And they keep bringing Noah back. And it's not just to add color. To the episodes. It's more than that. There's other things about it. There must be something more to it. Um. As I say. The fact that it's a hat ceremony. And it's. It's.

[00:26:23] He's mentioned it before. Early on in the season. It happens. He stands up in front of everybody. And goes. I want to make y'all proud. We all need something to celebrate. Let's all go to the match tonight. Watch the match. And then I'll choose. Whatever the hat's going to be. Uh. But. And everybody seems absolutely fine with that. Even though they all. Took time out of their. Regular days. To go to this. Ceremony for the local kid. Done good. And then he basically said. Well I'm not going to do it. Okay. Grant. No problem at all. We don't mind taking time off work. To come down to the local school. To find this out. And you're still not telling us.

[00:26:53] Yeah. There's. There's absolutely going to be. Some kind of big reveal. In the final episode. Um. But it feels like. It feels like they're just focusing on him. Without any real content. Around him. So on the Maggie one. Um. I. The three. The. 314,000. Blah blah blah. I was like. Okay. So are they trying to do pie? Uh huh. Is this pie? And I was like. Racking my brain. Going. Is there a pie reference? Did someone say they really like pie?

[00:27:23] Was there. She works in the local diner. Which sells pie. If that's her. I was like. I'm trying to remember. Um. And then. On. Maggie as well. She has the look. Of a guardian. Of a green lantern. Okay. From a diff. From one of the comic books. I don't know the character's name. Mm. She has short blonde hair. She wore a white and green skirt. Okay. She's a well known lantern in the corpse. She's an alien. So I'm like. Is she there looking after now? And like.

[00:27:53] Because one of the guardians. Have put her there. Yeah. To watch over. And is that why she's just. Messing with John. Yeah. So. But she was a kid. She was the kid that John helped. Yes. In. After the big battle in the town. So. Because she repeated back to what he said to her. So. So we know that. Was that kid. But as we said before. It still doesn't negate the fact. That she could be a manhunter. Noah could also be another manhunter. The whole town's kids. Could all be manhunters. We still don't know. But.

[00:28:23] The fact that they just keep pulling us back to them. Whenever they get the opportunity. Then. We just don't know anymore. So I guess. That's going to be. Something big next week. Some kind of big reveal next week. I do love. The conversation. Over. Hal's grave. Where the hologram is asking him about the funeral. So last week. We talked about Hal's speech. Yep. And it did seem that at some point. That Hal Jordan. That wrote the original draft of that speech. Was pretty serious.

[00:28:52] He was expecting that there would be visitors from. The Guardians. He was expecting that there were going to be lots of people there. Celebrating the things that he'd done for planet Earth. And. He looks really crestfallen. When. John tells him no. None of them were there. And. And John. Tries to cover it over. Saying. Yeah. Of course. All the lanterns were there. And they did the call back to Mogo. One of the lanterns. A green lantern. Who is a gigantic planet. That we talked about earlier on in the season. So. That was Hal's. Way of finding out. Whether John was actually lying. Or not. So.

[00:29:22] John's like. Yeah. Yeah. I was standing right beside him. No problem at all. And he's like. He's the size of a planet. So that's definitely worth standing beside him. Stop lying to him. So. Really love those little calls in. And again. This is. Something I find really cool. The hologram doing his investigation. As he goes along. You know. He didn't ask for Kerry. Because he doesn't know who he is. He asked for the local sheriff. It just turned out to be. That's the person that. Was going out with. With Hal. I love that after the conversation. With her. He goes. Well.

[00:29:52] She definitely killed me. So. Throwing another accusation. For a potential murderer. Out there. I do love the. I know guilt. When I see it. And like. It did get me wondering. I was like. Oh. Could you imagine it's her? Yeah. Well we thought it was her. From the beginning. No. I know. We were like. Oh maybe it's Zoe. And then we went. Oh maybe it's Noah. And then we were like. Oh it's definitely John. And I love that.

[00:30:22] Even at the end. By the end of this episode. Hal's thrown out. Three accusations. And each time. He threw them out. I was absolutely going. Of course it is. He went. Kerry. Of course it is. And then he was like. Oh it's definitely John. It is John. Isn't it? Yeah. Definitely. So yeah. There's loads of possibilities still. And I think by the end of the episode. There's one potential that. We hadn't really considered. Beforehand. That is thrown out.

[00:30:51] At the end of the episode. And I think by the end of the episode. You're supposed to believe. That that one's the accurate one. Which we'll talk about. In our next point. Yeah. I do like the theory though. It is Kerry. Because. If Noah. Is a manhunter. And Hal found out. Yeah. And there's no bond stronger than the mother's love. Mm-hmm. So again. You could. That guilt. It's a nice tie back. It is. Where it actually end up to being Kerry.

But. I think this is a great set up season. Uh. To establish this. Uh. How they fit into the universe. Uh. A bit more. And. Just to establish these two. Iconic. Green Lanterns.

Before he suddenly just appeared there. Um. The fact that he's. That she's able to touch him. Uh. Is a real surprise to her. Um. And then just. The way he. Talks through her. I thought was really cool. Where he's saying to her. You know. We have. Do we have a relationship. Where I told you about everything. Did I tell you about my father. And when she said yes. Then he asks. Uh. What did I tell you about John.

[00:34:50] And she relays to him this story. This. This version. Where he says. John's. Uh. Like your football team. You show to the TV. Um. Every single Sunday. But keep coming back. Because. [00:38:49] But I feel like I've been here before. And it's actually. Because he had the. Um. Images of the death of Antan's planet. And his. His. Uh. Alien. Uh. People. Um. Pushed through his brain. To help him. Uh. Help them out. Find the Manhunter. A couple episodes ago. So this. He learns. This is the planet. Uh. That they were on. Um. I think this is really interesting. And again. It's probably because I'm not. The most knowledgeable person. Of uh. Of the. Green Lantern stuff. But.

[00:39:18] When they were talking. All I could think of. They were saying. You know. There's this gas that's released. Which turns everybody on each other. They all killed. Killed each other. Killed themselves. Um. Because of this. Uh. This. Uh. Yellow gas that was released. And all I could think of. Was Scarecrow from the Batman universe. Yeah. Did Scarecrow get his hands on some of the fear gas. From this universe. And that's what he uses as his primary weapon. Or did he try and replicate it on earth. Or am I just thinking too much. That it's all connected. Because it's not as connected as that. Is it?

[00:39:48] Maybe. Not right now. But I think. That's a way for them to say something like that. That it was like. He was working on a thing for Lexcorp or something. Um. No. I went Tatooine. Because it's twins. Twin sun. Mm. Uh. Planet. I was like. Oh my god. They're on Tatooine. There you go. And the melted skeletons all over the place as well. Of course. Yes. Yeah. Because Aunt Beru is you know. Everywhere. Yeah. Like dust in the wind. Dust in the wind. It's interesting.

[00:40:18] You see that floating city. And I've been curious about that floating city for the longest time. Since we've seen it in the promo. And the trailers. Right. And trying to figure out where, what, when, how. It's an interesting thing to find out that like. Well we're not even going up there. That's not. The important part of this planet. Yeah. Um. That it is a flashing blue light. Over in the distance that they have to get to. Mm. Um. And as they get closer. It's then a flashing blue light.

[00:40:46] On an island in the middle of a lake. Mm. Mm. Um. All interesting. I did like the skulls. Yes. So we did get to kind of understand that. Somewhat what their skulls look like of these alien race. Yeah. Um. Certainly not human skulls. Yeah. No. And I'm pretty sure they will use this as that. Of some form that. That these. This planet was. The. Birthplace of the.

[00:41:15] The red lanterns. And that's. Because you can also use that. Because for the longer time. A lot of people have been speculating. That Ant-Anne was actually one of the red lanterns. Okay. From the comic books. Yeah. Very similar because this is how the whole story is ripped from how that red lantern was born. Right. And his. Basically the rage he felt from the death of his whole planet. Wow. The Manhunters. So.

[00:41:45] It was pretty easy for a red lantern. Yeah. Exactly. So. I think that speculation might have been wrong. Yeah. Just slightly. I do remember something about this where Damon Lindelof I think had said. Or Tom King had said that they had taken some inspiration from. Yes. That character. And because Anton's name began with an A. People started speculating. Well that's of course what they meant. Yeah. When they said inspiration they meant. That's definitely the character from the comic books. But. I don't know. He's dead now. So. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe. Maybe. Who knows.

[00:42:15] Maybe they bring him back to life. All things are possible. Yes. But I. So I like this. Yes. The one thing I did want to call out. Right. So they talk about fear toxins. Gas. Things like that. That is what kind of caused the planet to be decimated. That's what the Manhunter. Essentially said. Yeah. They released. And. We know that she said she was going to save the planet. So I'm assuming if it was a dusty planet. Maybe she was like. I released this gas. And it's going to.

[00:42:44] Fix the ozone. Or something like that. Anyway. We don't. We. Call out is. A marine. A marine. Sir. Who served. Mm-hmm. Didn't think about gas. He's like. Okay. There's been gas on the planet. And you're like. No. No. No. No. No. You should have been the one. Like. Okay. I'm just going to put a bit of a mask here. And I'm going to tie something around my face.

[00:43:14] I was like. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. That was the only bit I was like. Oh. Because. They get to the. They get to the boat. They get on the boat. Yeah. They get. They start going towards. And we'll get to what. The whole story in the boat in a second. But I was just. I was like. Oh. John. Come on. That military training. Didn't pay off there. I just thought it was just trusted how. Because how. Go. Sticks his head in. And then goes. No. This is fine. It's breathable.

[00:43:44] Come on. Come on ahead. Like. That's what he says. So. You know. It could have just as easily. His whole body could have exploded. Because he's out in space. It may have different gravity. So. So. I think he wasn't taking any precautions. And the bag that was packed. How was kind of go. Well. That's everything you need. So. I do love the call later on. When the holograms. Looking at John. Going through his experience. Of the fear gas. And going. Well. That's why the poncho was in the bag. He's retroactively realizing. Why everything's in there. You know. You're going to be walking through a desert.

[00:44:14] So you're going to need water. The walk could take a long time. So you're going to need nutrition bars. If the. If the fear induced rain. Comes down from the sky. You should be putting a poncho over your head. But I don't know any of this. Until after the fact. So. Not very helpful. You should have put it on. I do like that poncho though. It was a nice poncho. It's good poncho. Black. Yeah. It's a good poncho. Should we talk about what happens in the boat? Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. Firstly. We do have the little kind of running down. Of the. Of the. The ring. Power. Power. Which is why Hal.

[00:44:44] Disappears. They have a conversation. In the boat. And then Hal. Hal. Goes away. So that. They can reserve the power. And. When he goes. We get the appearance of John's father in the boat. And then. John himself. Both telling him to take the shot. In the water. The whole boat is surrounded by. What looks like. All of the apples. That were ever shot off. John's head. Head or he ever shot off his dad's head. Or his mom's head. So.

[00:45:14] It's a really interesting one. Because this is. The fear. Eating away at John. That he is afraid. That he is. That he doesn't have. What it takes. To. Live up to the legacy. That's being thrust upon him. And. I didn't notice it. It's only in dialogue. From. When the hologram saves him. That. You realize. John was putting the gun to his own head. Um. At that moment. And if he. If Hal. Hadn't come back. And thrown him in the water.

[00:45:43] He would have pulled the trigger. And taken his own life. Because he doesn't even talk about. What. It is. And it. It feeds so well. Into. The Jordan legacy. And. And. The. One piece. That. That. It is explained. It comes from. And it's so. Such a well written. Choice. Choice. Which is. Both. Hal. And John. Are not. With.

[00:46:13] They're. They're not without fear. Yeah. They're broken. Yeah. Like. That's not. Like. Being men. Who can overcome fear. And not. Sorry. Being men. Who. Are without fear. Mm-hmm. Is not what they are. They're broken men. Who. Are. At this point. Are able to overcome fear. Well. Yeah. But it's just such a. Such a powerful moment. Yeah. I. I.

[00:46:43] I was just so. Shocked. When like. I was. Sorry. Not shocked. No. I was. Yeah. No. I was shocked. I was. I was like. This is a really powerful moment. It is. Really powerful. Kind of. Discussion points. When you're talking about. How. These two men. Two heroes. Yeah. Are. Are vulnerable. Absolutely. Absolutely. And you know. It. There's. There's just that. Reveal. I guess. From. The hologram.

[00:47:13] Who. We've. As we said. We. You find out earlier. That Hal Jordan. Had entrusted the information to Kerry. That's how close he was to Kerry. This piece of. Knowledge. That's been passed down. Generation to generation. Among. These men. Who can't talk to their partners. You can't talk to anybody else. But will pass on to the. On the information. To their children. Or their. Their male children. Anyway. To tell them that basically. You're part of the legacy. At some point in the future. You'll take your own life. Leaving other people behind.

[00:47:43] They're more willing to tell. Their own children. That's what's going to happen to them. Than give them the ability. To deal with it. And to get away from it. And find real help. From real people. It's almost. Just. This moment in itself. It's too late for Hal Jordan now. But this moment in itself. The fact that the hologram. Is entrusting this information to John. Means there's a special. Connection between the two of them. That he couldn't see in life. I guess. Yeah. Like he said. He says to him. You know. You saw. Hal Jordan in pain. You.

[00:48:13] Why did you travel. Across many states. To come. And see. A person you didn't even like. You saw him in pain. Why didn't you just listen. To what he wanted to say. Because he clearly needed. Needed the help. Which again. Is an indication. Of where the story's going. Yeah. And it's interesting. Because that does then. As you alluded to earlier. In our conversation. This is the third suspect. How? Mm-hmm. Did he. Did he do it? Yeah.

[00:48:43] Is he the killer? Um. And. It's a fair point. Because he goes. Oh. Well what about the gun? Well. Kerry could have done it. Yeah. She could have taken the gun away. Exactly. Um. It's an interesting point. Because then. When this. Then starts to come up. I'm like. Oh. That's. It's a wrinkle. In a show. Where. You are talking about. The. The. Everyone's like. Oh. This. It's going to be. The manhunters. And it was all this. Mm-hmm.

[00:49:13] This is the. The death. And then. It turns out. That it wasn't death at all. That Hal had just taken his own life. Because of. The Hal Jordan. Or the Jordan men. Like you'll see. Yeah. This is an interesting. Kind of. Wrinkled in the story. It really is. And you know. You hear. You hear all the things that are said. Throughout this episode. From the opening. Moment with his dad. Where his dad gives him the key. And says my father gave me. That. When he went off to war. He had no problem. He had no fear of going off to war.

[00:49:43] He just knew there was only. Two things that could happen. Either he would succeed or fail. He failed. When he opened the safe. In the safe. Was a note telling him about the legacy. Here. We hear. From Hal. Later on. We hear. Um. That his father. That his father killed himself. In a plane crash. And everybody thought. Well. He's a test pilot. He mustn't. He mustn't have killed himself. It was an accident. Which is the story. He's been telling everybody else. And the story we've heard before. Uh. For. In the Green Lantern history. That. His father died in a. In a plane crash.

[00:50:13] Because he was a test pilot. Well. Here it's saying. He didn't. It wasn't an accident. Um. And we hear. You know. Repeated. Kerry saying. Nobody in town liked him. Everybody wanted to kill him. He spent all his time. From the time he. Finished in prison. Which the hologram is disgusted. How could this person. End off going to prison. How could this. Hal Jordan that he was. How would he go to prison. He comes back to. Rushville. Apologized to everybody in town. Every single day. Going door to door. But they all hate him so much. That Kerry suspects. That anybody could have killed him.

[00:50:43] Well. You know. Maybe. Hal's taking his own life. Because. He felt the pressure of. Hatred from everybody around him. You know. Again. You see that speech. His eulogy. That he. Wanted to give as his funeral. Is that he wanted everybody. To be appreciative. Of him. And for his life to matter. And when he died. The only people that were there. Was the future Green Lantern. His ex. Who hated him. An actual Green Lantern. Who didn't even know him. And. His current girlfriend. And that's it. So. Yeah. Is. Is that. Is the depression.

[00:51:13] Of everything that went on. That drove Hal to be. His own murderer. Effectually. Yep. Yep. It's so. I'm interested to see. I really. I really am. Yeah. And what I really like about this is. Even. In all that. Even if. Next week. When we get a different reveal. Of who the actual killer is. This episode in itself. Is so. Well put together. The way it's written. How. How. How well acted it is.

[00:51:42] Between these two characters. Who absolutely are going through. Mental health issues themselves. Regardless of what the outcome is. In the next episode. I think it's a really strong. Episode. Of. Of these kind of discussions. That are happening between the two of them. Really really good. And. Like this. This is where we talk about. Like. Especially when. We. In our discussions. On any of the shows. Every now and again. There is a. An episode. Or. Of a show. That we watch. And we're like. Do you know what this. This is worthy of an Emmy. Like. Just this scene alone.

[00:53:12] Um. And he just wants to get off the island. He does. Which is interesting. Godforsaken place. Yeah. Yeah. Um. So this is really interesting. This is where we get to speculation station. This is just. Um. You have. Sinestro. Um. For those in the. With the comic book knowledge. There. Sinestro was a. Adversary. A well known comic book. Kind of. Villain. Yeah. Um. And.

[00:53:39] Is a lantern of kinds. Multiple shades. Um. So I think they will probably play on that. I think. I am in the. Opinion. That they are. Going to. Reveal some very interesting pieces. That will set up. Potentially. A. The. Second season. Okay. With.

[00:54:09] The guardians. And the lanterns. And things like that. Yeah. I think. Um. They. They have to. Power up. John Stewart. Mm-hmm. And I think that's what this island is going to be about. Okay. Um. Because. If we think. We have to get back to. Rushville. To solve Hal's murder. Um. And potentially put down the next generation of. Manhunters.

[00:54:39] Right. So. In order to do that. Hale Graham. And John Stewart. Need to. Get back to earth. And. More importantly. John Stewart needs to become some form of a lantern. Right. So I think that's where they are going with this. Yeah. Yeah. And I think we will be. The reveal of who broke Sinestro out. Will be a good one. Uh-huh. I have a theory. Yeah. Um. But. I. I. I. And.

[00:55:09] I'd love to. Kind of say it. But. At the same point. I'm kind of like. It might be. A spoiler. So I don't know. Well. We don't. We don't know what's happening. We don't. We don't know. What's going to happen in the last episode. Yeah. And as far as I know. It hasn't been. Even screened. No. They only gave the first seven episodes. To press. Who are. Who are reading it. So. All speculation is speculation. Right. Yeah. Um. The only thing I can think of. Is. Well. We're on a planet. The only person who has access to it. And easy access to it. Is Hal Jordan. So.

[00:55:38] I presume. Hal Jordan. Broke Sinestro out. For whatever reason. Given that the Guardian suspected. That his connection to Sinestro. Was. Um. Going to be a challenge. For them. But he didn't have his ring. Hmm. But when did he lose that? When did he not have it? I know he didn't have it when he was shot dead. But. So he. His ring was in. Onoa. With the Guardians. Decommissioned. Decommissioned. So that was taken. When he. Before he went to jail.

[00:56:08] So. I don't think. He visited Sinestro in that prison. Back in 2016. Yeah. Sorry. Zoe the Manhunter was killed by John Stewart. Sometime after that. Hal turned himself in. And went to prison. Yeah. But we don't really know what happened. Between those two points. Yeah. Could he have broken Sinestro out then? Um. And nobody noticed for a while? Could be. Or was it very recent? Or. I took from the way Guy mentioned it.

[00:56:38] It was a new enough. Mm. Uh. Piece. My theory. Mm-hmm. Is. It is. Liana. The. The. Uh. Guardian. She. Wants. She doesn't believe in the. The. The Green Lantern Court anymore. She wants to build her own thing. She. Uh. Uh. Pulls Sinestro out. Because she wants her own version of a vigilante. Yada yada yada. And she's keeping him there. Um.

[00:57:08] We. I think they're building up to that. Like a. The. The. Lantern war. Different corps. And. I think that's how you can do that. Uh. There's a whole thing about fear. Um. We know willpower is. Powers. The Green Lanterns. Mm-hmm. Fear. Powers. The Yellow Lanterns. Yeah. And we are on a planet full of fear. Um. And I think that's where we are starting to. It's going to be an interesting.

[00:57:37] Kind of reveal next. Mm-hmm. And there was. There was an interesting conversation as well. That was had between Hal and John and the boat. Another little part of their conversation. Where. Uh. Hal was asking why John. Went to. Went to Rushville to visit him. And he said. Well my mom called me. And told me that you had an apology. And he was going. Well hang. Why would your mom call you. Tell you. And. Uh. And John was kind of going. Well you became friends over time.

[00:58:07] And Hal went. How would a thing like that happen. Exactly. You know. And we mentioned it last week. When that conversation. Had happened on the phone with John. That. You know. There was. Absolute disdain. From John's mom. To. Um. Hal Jordan. When he was in the house. Calling them the. Uh. The Huxtables. Um. You know. She did not like. Hal Jordan. At all. [00:58:37] So. How they developed a friendship. And how that continued. Is definitely. Being said out loud here. On screen. Because. That matters. Yeah. Um. Even when she called him in this episode. You see Hal looking at the phone. Going. Bernadette. Is that your wife? Is that your girlfriend? Who's that? Um. You know. So. I think that's there. Because it was mentioned. Quite significantly. The first episode. That a Manhunter can take the place of anybody. It could be anybody at all. Um. While the aliens can look human. A Manhunter can take the.

[00:59:06] Shape of anybody else. That you see. So. Uh. We haven't actually had that. At all. Given a show. Given that. As a basic premise. For your villain character. That they can be anybody. Uh. That you look at. Um. It's quite surprising. They don't play with that. Isn't it? Yeah. That's basically the premise of the incredible movie. The Thing. Uh. Who is the alien. That's in. In our midst. Right? So. Uh. If you don't play with that idea. You definitely shouldn't. Shouldn't have said it out loud at the beginning of the season. So. Uh. Yeah.

[00:59:36] I think you're probably right. I think. Um. Liana. Is potentially. Someone that could be taking the shape. Of. Uh. Of John's mom. Um. I think it's a. She's a Manhunter. I'm not sure if she's even a Guardian. But. She did have a connection with the Guardians. Uh. Or occasionally. The Manhunter is taking the visage. Of Liana. Yeah. Or Bernadette. Um. But yeah. All to be revealed in the finale. Yes. And that is where we end. Like that is. There is so much to go through.

[01:00:05] I think. For me. No matter what. I feel this is very much a Lindelof show. In that. You can see. The mature. When we sat down. We watched Watchmen. We decided. Okay. They've taken something that was. An interesting DC property. They took a. Superhero show. And made it. They took some very. Interesting. Heavy topics. And threaded it through a. And. Put it in a world. Where.

[01:00:35] Comic book lovers would love. So that's where I see. That. Tom King brings some amazing story. From just. Tom King is an amazing comic book writer. Yeah. So I think that's where his. Finesse comes through. Which is the more. Fantastical. Superheroic. But for me. Lindelof is the. I can see his fingers over a lot of it. Yeah. It's interesting. You know. The. The initial discussions.

[01:01:05] Were apparently with. Chris Mundy. The showrunner for this show. He was. Asked to come on board. In the new DC universe. As. As the showrunner for. True Detective. As the showrunner for. Ozark. He was asked to come in. And see. What kind of story. He wanted to tell in the universe. He came up with this idea. For the show. Laird in. With the knowledge of. Of Tom King. As a. As a DC alumni. And Demi Lindelof. As a showrunner. Of amazing shows. Including things like. Lost. And. The leftovers. You know.

[01:01:36] So I see. I see. All of them working together. Really. But I feel. I feel Chris Mundy's. Fingerprints on this. a bit more. You know. Some senses of. Of Damon Lindelof. And Chris Mundy. Can be. Similar. I suppose. But it doesn't feel. As mystery box. Like. The Damon Lindelof. One where. I always feel like. We're never getting an answer. To the. To the. Mysteries that are set up. In a Damon Lindelof show. To the fact. Just in case. You've never seen. The leftovers. That's one of my favorite shows.

[01:02:06] They changed the theme tune. To that show. And the theme tune. To the show. Was let the mystery be. Was the actual. What they wrote in. When you watched. Every single episode. You had somebody singing at you. The mystery is just the mystery. Forget about it. Just watch. What we're. What drama. We're providing to you. Whereas I feel. Chris Mundy's working towards. Delivering on the mysteries. And so. I think that's probably. Why I feel a little bit more. On what he's. What he's delivering here. And that Damon Lindelof's. Adding. Being a very well.

[01:02:38] Seasoned. Showrunner for shows. And Tom King's. Out of the DC layer. Because apparently. Chris Mundy. Didn't know very much. About comic books. When he came into this universe. So. So yeah. So. You know. They're all working together. Very well. Yeah. And delivering a great show. But I just remember. We did over. Praise Damon Lindelof. For his contribution. To watch when it turned out. Most of the. Writers room. Were the ones that wrote those episodes. Rather than. Lindelof. Do. Do. Do. This is me slowly. Pulling away. From the. Mike.

[01:03:10] Well. That's where we leave it. For our chat. All about the lanterns. Episode seven. Really looking forward. To this finale. Next week. Pretty short episode. This. This week. But it was a very heavy one. So it felt. Longer. As long as the rest. And it felt. It felt around that era level. I think it was about 45 minutes. Including credits. But it felt heavy. Definitely. It's good at ending on those kind of cliffhangers. And this has set up an interesting. Okay. Well. For this final. No. 50 minutes. 57 minutes. Whatever we're going to get. How are you going to land this plane? Yeah. Maybe.

[01:04:07] Let's not talk about. Landing planes. When we're around the Jordan family legacy. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Or will they. Jordan boy it up. Let's see. Let's see. What about yourself Derek? Anything to add? Anything you want to bring out? No. Really enjoyed it. I'd love to give John's score. He did give me his notes. For the episode. And all I can read is. Five out of five. Guy Gardner. Came in. In the 90s. When they tried to make it cool. No. No. Hal. Wasn't even the first. Green Lantern. There was a Green Lantern. Alan Scott. But he's Earth 2 now. He's been retconned as Earth 2.

[01:12:04] He's not really a corp. Green Lantern. He was a Green Lantern. With his own lantern. And it was a bit more magical. And earth based. And blah blah blah blah blah blah. See. Okay. I just. Fair. Fair. Fine. And John Stewart came along in the 70s. When they specifically were looking for. For a more diverse cast. In the comic books. They didn't have. Didn't have very many black heroes. And they wanted to bring in. A black hero. In the comic books. They brought him in the 70s. Guy Gardner. Came around in 73. I think. Or 74.

[01:12:33] But was a background character. For many years. Until the 80s. When he came along. As a more central character. And yeah. He's had some big stories. But he is usually the goofy background. Version of. Of the Green Lantern. But there have been. Thousands of them. And I think right now. Or around. Around the kind of. Re-emergence of the universe. There was at least. Eight. Lanterns on earth. I think at the same time. So this. Initial setup. That we had in the series. Of.

[01:13:03] There being. One lantern. Who. Dies. And the ring. Goes to the next lantern. That's the only lantern. That's around. That's kind of the original story. From. From how. How Jordan. Became the lantern. But that's changed over time. Where to the point. There were a couple of thousand. Green lanterns. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. And they. They bring in. They bring in Kyle. Who is my. Green Lantern. I'd be so happy. If he gets.

[01:13:33] A shout out at the end. That'd be amazing. But it's really interesting. Marie. You mentioned. About. Super friends. Because that show. Never really made it to Europe. At all. I don't remember it ever airing. On. Any. Any time. When we were kids. At least. It was something. I think that eventually. Was released on DVD. Over here. Or was available on. On some of the cartoon networks. But it was never something. That we saw as kids. Over here. At all. We had a very limited. Limited number of channels. And kids weren't. We're treated with. With lots and lots. Cartoons to watch.

[01:16:29] Let's move on over to our discord server. First up. Richard Blades gives his thoughts on this episode. He said. So penultimate episode always seemed to fall into two camps for me. There's the balls out action episode. That leaves the finale to clear up all the story arcs from the season. Then there's camp two. Where it's frustrating slow paced one. That drags the episode out for as long as it can. So that the finale can go all in. For me. This week's episode. Hopefully fell into camp two. Don't get me wrong. The dynamic between Hal and John. And Kerry at times was fantastic. And I'm not tired of these interactions.

[01:16:58] But it just felt a bit too like a dull side quest. To travel from A to B to C. Then back to A again. Really hope they can land the last episode next week. And don't leave too many threads open and unanswered. It would be a shame if this series ends up a damp squib. Well I'll agree with you on that. I really hope the series doesn't end up with a damp squib. I think I have really enjoyed the episodes. A little more than you have throughout the season. Richard. But I think they are driving towards an episode.

[01:17:28] That does have to answer a lot of questions. And does have to wrap up a lot. So I'm intrigued to see how to do it. Definitely. Yeah. I'm with you. I'm ashamed that you're not enjoying it as much. Richard. But I have high hopes that this is going to. Kind of land. The finale. I don't think it's going to be the damp squib. As you said. But. Even if it does. It was a good.

[01:17:57] Seven episodes. So I can't. As a whole of a season. I'm like. Yeah. No one episode. You can't land a plane. That's fine. Because then they can just say. Oh. It was all about. How it was. If there's another manhunter. Etc. The big one would be. Will John have a recharge working ring by the end? Yeah. There's a lot. There is a lot to wrap up. And I think. They'll probably land a lot of it. But I think there's just.

[01:18:56] Points that they'll kind of hint at. For the. Impossible. Next season. Yeah. Or. Or they'll do something. Because again. We keep forgetting. This is now a connected. DC universe. So. Potentially we'll have Sinestro in. Yeah. They could put it in tomorrow. Next year. You know. Something like that. You never. You never know. Yeah. It's going to go in the universe. But right. As of right now. We haven't had an official renewal for. For Lanterns. It would be great to have that. But even though there is. A page. I think already on.

[01:19:26] On IMDB. For the first episode of season two. We haven't seen an official. Renewal yet. So. Let's find out next week. Do do do. Great stuff. Thanks Joe. Oh. Just squeezing in some feedback. From Paolo. Which came in just after. Myself and Chris recorded last night. Paolo says. I agree with Richard above. This was a frustrating episode. The Sinestro reveal at the end. Didn't really compensate. For the lack of more answers. Or maybe just clues. For where this thing is all going. Sinestro cannot be Hal's killer. Like I was thinking last week.

[01:19:54] But I'm left with not many other theories. Another Manhunter maybe. Things I liked. The portable hole. Okay. Portal. Reminds me so much of the D&D magic object. The hologram being impressed. With John's ability to keep it running. Without wearing the ring. Surely this means John will be a lantern eventually. Things I didn't like. The Harry Potter island at the centre of the lake. The missing lantern to recharge the ring. It gives me anxiety. So overall I was disappointed. And hope the final episode will resolve a few things. No scoring this week. I'd probably be a bit too harsh.

[01:20:23] Thanks Paola for your feedback on the episode. Yeah. I guess a bit of a mixed reaction to this episode. I hope our podcast added a couple of other things to be a bit more interested in. I knew they squeezed in another Harry Potter reference that I didn't notice. The Harry Potter island. That makes loads and loads of sense. But yeah. Great moment there with the hologram. Finally giving some kind of compliment to John. And him being really happy to get a bit of a compliment.

[01:20:51] It's an important moment for the two of them. Great stuff. Thanks Paola. I'll hand you back to the other bit of feedback that we got in and talked about last night. Finally we had some feedback in from Paul Tenchi Lee who says. I am enjoying what appears to be some mid-story episodes of another arc that can't possibly be wrapped up in one finale. Even if they make it two hours long. Great to see Kyle Chandler play a less dickish jaded tired version of Hal. And I love how the hologram is acting like the kooky but fair trainer that John wanted.

[01:21:20] I can't tell if it's deliberate that the hologram doesn't seem to remember his deployment by the water tower in 2016. Because it would have caught at least the sight of Zoe. Also all the kudos to Kelly MacDonald for portraying like five different emotions on meeting the hologram. Finally a theory about where Hal might have gotten the goo ball Einstein Rosenbridge. I think he got it from Anton's stash. Or perhaps even from the last member of his team. There's at least one unaccounted for driver from their time going to the ranch.

[01:21:49] He could have gone to Anton's hideout in Coast City and found the goo ball there. If he collected other alien tech as a lantern he could have hid stuff on himself while in jail. And facilitated Sinestro's escape and located to Anton's world. I guess we've got lots of stuff to find out next week. Thanks Paul. Great feedback there. That's a really interesting theory that potentially all Hal had to do was just hide a black goo ball on himself when he went to prison. And then he might have been able to walk in and out of prison whenever he wanted to.
