Gen V Season 2 Episode 7 "Hell Week" Details

Developed by: Craig Rosenberg, Evan Goldberg & Eric Kripke

Based on the comic series from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson

Episode written and Directed by: Thomas Schnauz

Synopsis:

Annabeth wakes up looking for her sister Marie after having a bad dream and vision about her, only for the group to discover that she and Cate are gone from Stan Edgar’s bunker.

While following the missing duo, Jordan and Annabeth talk about when they discovered their powers, and Jordan begins to doubt his relationship with Marie.

Arriving at Godolkin University, Cate tries again to get Marie to cure her powers. But Marie does not trust her and refuses to help her. They go to Cipher's house to look for Thomas Godolkin, but Polarity tells them the scientist is gone, taken by Cipher with a plan to “cull the herd”, ridding the campus of any useless powered Supes.

After these revelations, Polarity has a severe seizure, but Marie heals him completely, returning him to full strength and health. He suggests Marie helps Cate restore her powers so she can locate Thomas Godolkin, but again Marie refuses.

Meanwhile, Sam, Emma, Jordan and Zoe arrive at Godolkin University and enlist Greg to help them look for Marie.

Marie discovers Cipher and Thomas Goldkin hiding under the training centre and are joined by Polarity, Jordan, Sam and Greg who join together to confront Cipher while Marie attempts to cure Thomas Goldkin.

As Polarity, Jordan, Sam and Greg overpower Cipher and Marie cures Thomas Godolkin they learn Godolkin has been in control all along. There is no Cipher, just a possessed man called Doug Brightbill with a broken back.

With Marie weakened from curing Godolkin, he begins to walk the campus and enact his plan to kill weak Supes.

01:42 --> 01:44 [SPEAKER_04]: I'm really stupid like that.
01:44 --> 01:49 [SPEAKER_04]: For your nose and your nose and probably, yes, yes, my nose goes long every time I lie.
01:49 --> 01:50 [SPEAKER_04]: And you call me Pinocchio.
01:50 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_04]: No, you got that.
01:57 --> 02:18 [SPEAKER_06]: are you grow lobes I guess okay no I have my my ears turn into hands okay okay and my lobes are opposable right thumbs yeah I see it okay interesting yeah yes so hopefully I would fly or be able to have like X-ray vision or like laser eyes or stuff like that
02:18 --> 02:28 [SPEAKER_04]: Well, definitely because if you have any other crappy pair like the ones we're suggesting you may not survive through the end of the season, but we'll talk about that when we get into our spoiler filled discussion about the episode.
02:28 --> 02:33 [SPEAKER_06]: Well, maybe you never know, one of my orifices might become the dark dimension.
02:33 --> 02:39 [SPEAKER_04]: It might be, yes, yes, yes, you could have a singularity with there's Turkey in our orifices.
02:40 --> 02:43 [SPEAKER_06]: Like a nostrils, yeah, something like that.
02:44 --> 03:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, fellow boys and girls, welcome back to what's been one hell of a week at Kadolkin you and before we get into that hell of a week in the episode hell week just a quick reminder for all of those who are listening in to please help me over to TV podcast industries.com or you can

04:21 --> 04:34 [SPEAKER_04]: I do want to say welcome back John because we have heard from lots of listeners who were missing yet on the GenV podcast and we've been podcasting about loads of other stuff as well but I think everybody loves all of us getting together on the GenV podcast and it seems to be alternating.
04:34 --> 04:36 [SPEAKER_04]: It's just a very different place.
04:36 --> 04:46 [SPEAKER_04]: We will hopefully all be together for the finale next week but I know we thought we were all going to be together for this one so I wrote one of my points based on the fact that we're going to be three of us here and now it doesn't
04:49 --> 04:50 [SPEAKER_04]: But it's fine.
04:50 --> 04:50 [SPEAKER_04]: It's fine.
04:51 --> 04:51 [SPEAKER_06]: John has the trip.
04:51 --> 04:53 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, it was really good.
04:53 --> 05:07 [SPEAKER_06]: I was in Kenya in Nairobi for a conference and Yeah, part of the conference have a tour where you could go to the Nairobi National Park which is right next to the city and filled with
05:08 --> 05:13 [SPEAKER_06]: pretty much with the exception of elephants all the main, you know, the big five.
05:13 --> 05:14 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
05:14 --> 05:29 [SPEAKER_06]: So there's four of the big five that at plus many, many other things and it's so strange, taking these pictures with like the skyscrapers of Nairobi in the background, the sort of elevated railway
05:30 --> 05:36 [SPEAKER_06]: via Dutch going across the park, which they elevated, so they didn't run through the park.
05:36 --> 05:37 [SPEAKER_06]: Of course.
05:37 --> 05:40 [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, it's just really, really incredible.
05:40 --> 05:42 [SPEAKER_04]: But you have, like, lions and giraffes.
05:42 --> 05:45 [SPEAKER_06]: And, um, hippos and stuff there, is that?
05:45 --> 06:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Yep, yeah, I did see most of these photographs are probably so did see absolutely black crying Oh ostriches, zebra different antelopes and gazelles Crocodiles Yeah, you name it there there's buffalo didn't see any of those now, but and yet there's water buffalo But no tigers as those are only an India
06:06 --> 06:07 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, pretty much.
06:07 --> 06:10 [SPEAKER_04]: But lots of other amazing looking animals.
06:10 --> 06:11 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, indeed, absolutely.
06:11 --> 06:24 [SPEAKER_06]: So it was absolutely incredible seeing all that wildlife, that range of wildlife, sort of that big, safari, Savannah wildlife, so close to a huge modern,
06:25 --> 06:26 [SPEAKER_06]: Sissy.
06:26 --> 06:26 [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely.
06:26 --> 06:27 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, you know.
06:28 --> 06:30 [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, really good conference.
06:30 --> 06:31 [SPEAKER_06]: It's really good.
06:31 --> 06:36 [SPEAKER_06]: So hopefully we managed to get a bit of Greenhouse gases down with all of our water.
06:36 --> 06:38 [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, all good.
06:38 --> 06:38 [SPEAKER_04]: What have been good?
06:39 --> 06:39 [SPEAKER_04]: Excellent.
06:39 --> 06:39 [SPEAKER_04]: Excellent.
06:40 --> 06:44 [SPEAKER_04]: I was here Podcasting away and enjoying GenV.
06:44 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_04]: I know you've called up on all the episodes.
06:46 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks.
06:46 --> 06:47 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, Thankfully.
06:47 --> 06:48 [SPEAKER_04]: Um, I'm here.
06:48 --> 06:52 [SPEAKER_04]: We are talking about the seventh episode of the Penalty Man episode for hell week of the
06:53 --> 06:56 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Gem V seems to have gone really, really quick.
06:56 --> 07:03 [SPEAKER_04]: It always does because that three episode drop at the beginning, and it always seems to be just over a month to get through the eight episodes of the show.
07:03 --> 07:06 [SPEAKER_04]: It's also because there's such big gaps between seasons.
07:06 --> 07:13 [SPEAKER_04]: I wanted to last much longer rather than having that six or eight or ten month break until the next thing that comes along from this universe.
07:13 --> 07:14 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, absolutely.
07:14 --> 07:17 [SPEAKER_04]: So, but yes, we are getting very close to the end of the series.
07:18 --> 07:27 [SPEAKER_06]: Well, it's good to be back, and I think, with that, we should get into our spoiler-filled discussions of this 7th episode, Hell Week.
07:27 --> 07:29 [SPEAKER_06]: Derek, give us the episode details.
07:29 --> 07:33 [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely, the show's developed by Craig Rosenberg and Evan Goldberg with Eric Krippky.
07:33 --> 07:39 [SPEAKER_04]: It's based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Derek Robertson and the executive producers for the show, our Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg.
07:39 --> 07:42 [SPEAKER_04]: This episode, interestingly, was written and directed by Thomas Schneetz.
07:43 --> 08:03 [SPEAKER_04]: One of the first times that there has been one writer and director on Gen V, as far as I remember, and he has got such amazing credentials for his time in TV, as a producer on many, many shows, including Gen V itself, but also about seven episodes of Breaking Bad and 13 episodes of Better Call Soul to a premium series.
08:03 --> 08:06 [SPEAKER_04]: So, interesting, have him on here.
08:06 --> 08:06 [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
08:10 --> 08:21 [SPEAKER_06]: get into Breaking Bad, and I've not really followed better calls, so just because of that, so I'm really intrigued to see how all Tom and Shouts does on this.
08:21 --> 08:21 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
08:21 --> 08:26 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, John, do you want to tell us what they gave us with your synopsis forward this week's episode of GenV?
08:27 --> 08:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Have a sure.
08:28 --> 08:37 [SPEAKER_06]: Annabeth wakes up looking for a systemry after having a bad dream and vision about her, only for the group to discover that she and Kate are gone from Stan Edgars' bunker.
08:38 --> 08:47 [SPEAKER_06]: While following the missing duo Jordan and Annabeth talk about when they discovered their powers, Jordan begins to doubt his relationship with Marie.
08:47 --> 08:56 [SPEAKER_06]: Arriving at Gadolkin University, Kate tries again to get Marie to cure her powers, but Marie does not trust her and refuses to help her.
08:56 --> 09:01 [SPEAKER_06]: They go to Siphon's house to look for Thomas Gadolkin, but polarity tells them that the scientist is gone.
09:02 --> 09:09 [SPEAKER_06]: Taking by Siphon, with a plan to call the herd, ridding the campus of any useless, powered soups.
09:10 --> 09:18 [SPEAKER_06]: After these revelations, Polarity has a severe seizure, but Marie heals him completely, returning him to full strength and health.
09:18 --> 09:25 [SPEAKER_06]: He suggests Marie helps Kate restore her powers so she can locate Thomas Goodorgan, but again Marie refuses.
09:26 --> 09:34 [SPEAKER_06]: Meanwhile Sam, Emma Jordan and Zoe arrive at Goodorgan University and enlist Greg to help them look for Marie.
09:35 --> 09:46 [SPEAKER_06]: Marie discovers Cypher and Thomas Cadolkin hiding under the training center, joined by polarity Jordan Sam and Greg, who joined together to confront Cypher while Marie attempts to cure Thomas Cadolkin.
09:47 --> 09:54 [SPEAKER_06]: As they overpower Cypher and Marie cure Thomas Cadolkin, they learn Cadolkin has been in control all along.
09:55 --> 09:58 [SPEAKER_06]: There is no Cypher just to possess man called Doug
09:59 --> 10:07 [SPEAKER_06]: With Murray weakened from curing Goodolkin, he begins to walk the campus and in act his plan to kill the weak soups.
10:08 --> 10:13 [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, he starts pretty quickly, weeding out the the weak from the chafe, at the first minute.
10:13 --> 10:13 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he does.
10:14 --> 10:16 [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I have to say now, after Hempel.
10:18 --> 10:28 [SPEAKER_06]: as he walked across the playing fields, I just thought various students were just going to start dropping like flies or strange things happening.
10:28 --> 10:29 [SPEAKER_04]: I know what you mean.
10:29 --> 10:34 [SPEAKER_04]: Like kind of like what when we had Victoria Newman walking out and heads were just exploding.
10:35 --> 10:36 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah exactly.
10:36 --> 10:36 [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
10:37 --> 10:37 [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
10:37 --> 10:39 [SPEAKER_06]: So I kind of thought something like that was going to
10:39 --> 10:49 [SPEAKER_06]: And when I was like, why are you playing sports, you know, you should be like a god and his whole thing is that their gods and gods need to be
10:53 --> 11:02 [SPEAKER_06]: You know, it's whole pointers that they are gods, so they should actually gods, they should have god-like powers, which basically isn't that you have feet that turn into hands.
11:02 --> 11:14 [SPEAKER_06]: So, yeah, I was expecting to see a little bit more sort of blood being sort of spilt across those playing fields as you watch Crossbook.
11:14 --> 11:15 [SPEAKER_04]: Alas, who knows?
11:15 --> 11:18 [SPEAKER_04]: I suspect that will probably be the start of next week's episodes.
11:18 --> 11:22 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm potentially, John, will we get into our major moments from the episode?
11:22 --> 11:29 [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to start with our freshman or my moment going to our sophomore or medium moment and then move into our senior or major moment.
11:30 --> 11:31 [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to start with your freshman moment.
11:32 --> 11:35 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, I think it's the Brown Dimension.
11:35 --> 11:41 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, it is the singularity butthole that we have here.
11:41 --> 11:44 [SPEAKER_06]: And good old temple.
11:44 --> 11:49 [SPEAKER_06]: I think we'd seen his head previously in an earlier episode.
11:51 --> 11:58 [SPEAKER_06]: Speaking to effectively his carrier, which in the credits, he's just described as black hole.
11:58 --> 11:59 [SPEAKER_06]: I think that's his name in the credits.
11:59 --> 12:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, there's not, there's no actual name like Hempel or Steven or whatever.
12:05 --> 12:05 [SPEAKER_06]: So...
12:07 --> 12:16 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, it was just the brown dimension for these pledges effectively that are carried around.
12:16 --> 12:21 [SPEAKER_04]: I think he's... I think that character has made it into our fresh moment almost every single week.
12:21 --> 12:22 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
12:22 --> 12:24 [SPEAKER_04]: Because they do so many unusual things with him.
12:24 --> 12:31 [SPEAKER_04]: We thought last time that the head coming out of Ayla Vazehol was a sexual thing back then.
12:31 --> 12:52 [SPEAKER_06]: But then as we've learned that this is another dimension, or as a quantum singularity it may not be sexual Quantum hemorrhoids effectively, I guess Maybe something like that But yes, ultimately we have poor hemp all being offered then over to sound so I mean that whole moment as well is really kind of funny It is the absurd word and
12:53 --> 13:00 [SPEAKER_06]: and the black hole squeezes one out and gives it to Sam on the chain.
13:00 --> 13:05 [SPEAKER_04]: I think it makes it extra funny is that Emma has just arrived in the pocket of Sam.
13:05 --> 13:09 [SPEAKER_04]: She can't wear any clothes when she's traveling because her clothes don't change shape, but there as we've mentioned before.
13:10 --> 13:18 [SPEAKER_04]: and she goes behind a tree to change and, you know, out of this kind of, it's over this kind of Sam's covering his eyes and then actually comes out from behind the tree.
13:18 --> 13:24 [SPEAKER_04]: She sees Hempel being deposited on the ground from the black hole, just adds that little extra element of disgust.
13:24 --> 13:32 [SPEAKER_06]: And then just proceeds to kind of be kind of a fifth wheel, really, and just following people ran.
13:32 --> 13:33 [SPEAKER_06]: So,
13:34 --> 13:49 [SPEAKER_06]: I kind of felt for him and certainly given A were he had been B, Harry was treated once he had come out of where he had been and then C he got killed or he killed himself.
13:49 --> 13:52 [SPEAKER_06]: through Thomas Goodock in using him as a meat purpose.
13:52 --> 13:53 [SPEAKER_06]: Hey exactly, you know, yeah.
13:53 --> 13:59 [SPEAKER_06]: So humble didn't have it easy for his screen time.
13:59 --> 13:59 [SPEAKER_06]: No, we didn't.
14:00 --> 14:01 [SPEAKER_06]: No, we didn't really didn't.
14:02 --> 14:07 [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I must say that he came out quite clean actually from and it's a quite a long time.
14:07 --> 14:08 [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think you remember it.
14:08 --> 14:10 [SPEAKER_04]: No, not really.
14:11 --> 14:13 [SPEAKER_04]: Well, most people would use it for it.
14:13 --> 14:14 [SPEAKER_04]: That's both that way.
14:14 --> 14:20 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, but that is my freshman or minor moments, Derek.
14:20 --> 14:22 [SPEAKER_06]: What's your cleaner freshman?
14:23 --> 14:24 [SPEAKER_04]: It is dinner.
14:24 --> 14:31 [SPEAKER_04]: We have mentioned before that this moment is the moment that just kind of sticks with you or that something that happened in the episode that will probably stay with you forever.
14:31 --> 14:35 [SPEAKER_04]: Definitely that is the reason why Black Hull has made his presence fell to cross.
14:35 --> 14:41 [SPEAKER_04]: at the entire season, but the one that stood out to me and the one that stuck in my head is for a very different reasons.
14:41 --> 14:50 [SPEAKER_04]: It's in the conversation between Jordan and Zoe when they're driving, and Jordan's driving Zoe to get all the university to get there quickly to catch up at Marie and says that Sam,
14:51 --> 15:14 [SPEAKER_04]: is taking Emma and he's jumping there because Sam can jump farther than most people could have fly, he's actually unable to fly and the reason it's stuck in my head if you've been listening to podcast industry to all the way back to Jessica Jones there was a constant argument between myself and Chris as to whether Jessica Jones flew or jumped and it was like as if the team behind this show was listening to our podcast that decided to write it in there that Sam
15:15 --> 15:26 [SPEAKER_04]: jumps doesn't fly, and then very quickly it's followed with, but actually Greg is a person the can fly, so Emma's other love interest is a character that can fly, so I just thought it was quite interesting.
15:26 --> 15:31 [SPEAKER_04]: It's denied to be made me laugh, and again, this is the one that was written because of how Chris might be here.
15:33 --> 15:34 [SPEAKER_06]: He's here in spirit.
15:34 --> 15:35 [SPEAKER_04]: He's here in spirit.
15:35 --> 15:36 [SPEAKER_04]: He's here in spirit.
15:36 --> 15:38 [SPEAKER_06]: Don't worry, you'll let him know when you seem next.
15:38 --> 15:39 [SPEAKER_06]: I certainly will.
15:40 --> 15:40 [SPEAKER_06]: That's so well.
15:41 --> 15:43 [SPEAKER_06]: I just thought it was a quite a fun little description.
15:43 --> 15:44 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, it is.
15:44 --> 15:46 [SPEAKER_06]: Because I do remember those conversations.
15:46 --> 15:50 [SPEAKER_06]: I, you know, in true fashion sat on the fence and said, I don't mind.
15:50 --> 15:51 [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly, exactly.
15:51 --> 15:55 [SPEAKER_06]: Whereas YouTube were very, very opinionated about this.
15:55 --> 15:58 [SPEAKER_04]: Because I was right, excellent.
15:58 --> 16:00 [SPEAKER_04]: John, we got to our medium moments in the episode.
16:01 --> 16:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, um, my sophomore moment is one that's kind of rip.
16:05 --> 16:18 [SPEAKER_06]: You know, I think it's just really interesting because what we learn here, not only have we learned that Anabeth has has, and these kind of pre-cognition powers that she's been hiding, um,
16:20 --> 16:48 [SPEAKER_06]: From from view from other people for most of her life and there's kind of an interesting little conversation at the start of this episode after they've left Edgars bunker Were Anna Beth and Jordan not talking about their powers when they first realized and even that Jordan Heads and their powers Initially from from their parents after learning that they've gotten these soup powers Yeah, but
16:50 --> 16:56 [SPEAKER_06]: Interestingly, I think it's the whole thing with Annabeth that comes across here.
16:57 --> 16:59 [SPEAKER_06]: The whole episode starts with a vision.
16:59 --> 17:07 [SPEAKER_06]: It starts with her seeing Marie, and covered in blood, and lying, eyes wide open, seemingly dead.
17:08 --> 17:12 [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, this propels her and Jordan at your follow.
17:12 --> 17:15 [SPEAKER_06]: Marie and Kate back to Gerdolkin.
17:15 --> 17:17 [SPEAKER_06]: They finally come across them.
17:17 --> 17:26 [SPEAKER_06]: Were then Marie uses her powers against her friends, effectively, um, accept her sister and her death.
17:26 --> 17:28 [SPEAKER_06]: Um, but Jordan, Emma,
17:29 --> 17:49 [SPEAKER_06]: Sam and Greg all are sort of lifted into the air by the power of Marie and you have Anna Beth coming in telling her that she had seen these visions and Marie very skeptically says you've only just really told me you have them and you weren't able to tell us
17:50 --> 17:55 [SPEAKER_06]: you know, various things and the visions are kind of sketching.
17:55 --> 18:05 [SPEAKER_06]: They happen sort of infrequently and come on you, so you're not even able to tell us all that much and and you have an abeth really then.
18:07 --> 18:27 [SPEAKER_06]: exposing her truth, a part of her own hurt that before Marie killed their parents that she had been getting visions of her parents being killed and dead and covered in blood in the manner of their death as Marie killed them.
18:27 --> 18:28 [SPEAKER_06]: So, um,
18:30 --> 18:37 [SPEAKER_06]: that these visions do have meaning are accurate, is really what she's trying to say to me.
18:37 --> 18:46 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, by exposing the fact that she knew about her parents' death before it happened.
18:46 --> 18:49 [SPEAKER_06]: And actually, she's been hiding that from her.
18:49 --> 18:50 [SPEAKER_06]: Yep, since then.
18:52 --> 19:11 [SPEAKER_06]: it's probably part of the reason as much as anything else, and why she has called shoulder-dmerry, and because she feels as though she could have prevented it, this is why then she's following and trying to persuade Marie not to go into the burning building effectively here.
19:11 --> 19:17 [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, she says to Marie that she found that easier to haste Marie than to accept the fact that she could have changed her future.
19:18 --> 19:40 [SPEAKER_04]: And it's as massive for Marie and Master for her history, you know, we talked about it back in season one when we saw her get her powers that was very like the X-Men concept of superpowers coming on and it's at the moment of puberty at the moment of of adolescence effectively that the powers come on and that was the way that most of the X-Men get their powers when they when they turned out to adolescence it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's
19:40 --> 19:50 [SPEAKER_04]: analogous for that, what we were seeing in Gen V was this is how Marie got her pairs, and this conversation indicates that Annabeth had the pair as much earlier than that.
19:50 --> 19:50 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
19:50 --> 19:55 [SPEAKER_04]: So this isn't something that she was given compound V after the family split.
19:56 --> 19:58 [SPEAKER_04]: She may have also been given compound V at birth.
19:58 --> 19:59 [SPEAKER_04]: They were very close after birth.
20:00 --> 20:05 [SPEAKER_04]: We talked about it last week, myself and Chris, that when her parents chose to give Annabeth,
20:05 --> 20:07 [SPEAKER_04]: compound V at some point.
20:07 --> 20:10 [SPEAKER_04]: The power has hadn't been manifested in Marie at all at that stage.
20:10 --> 20:16 [SPEAKER_04]: So that didn't even choose to give Anna Beth compound V because of how Marie came to them from Red River.
20:17 --> 20:21 [SPEAKER_04]: Her powers hadn't manifested yet, so they chose to do it to another child.
20:21 --> 20:24 [SPEAKER_04]: And her powers manifested earlier than Marie did.
20:24 --> 20:25 [SPEAKER_04]: So this is already interesting.
20:26 --> 20:28 [SPEAKER_04]: Marie very graciously says to her,
20:29 --> 20:30 [SPEAKER_04]: Well, you were only a child.
20:30 --> 20:37 [SPEAKER_04]: You didn't tell me I hate that you've had to walk around with that weighing you down for the last decade or so.
20:39 --> 20:41 [SPEAKER_04]: But there's nothing you could have done about it.
20:41 --> 20:41 [SPEAKER_04]: You didn't do anything.
20:42 --> 20:43 [SPEAKER_04]: There's nothing you could have done about it.
20:43 --> 20:46 [SPEAKER_04]: And this is how everything's worked out, worked out.
20:46 --> 20:50 [SPEAKER_04]: But she still pushes them all back and goes off to make her own decisions as to what.
20:51 --> 20:52 [SPEAKER_04]: how she's going to enact her plan.
20:54 --> 20:58 [SPEAKER_04]: And I think it's quite interesting that again, Jordan feels the brunt of all of this.
20:58 --> 21:02 [SPEAKER_04]: Jordan, the one that she said last week, will never change, will be together forever.
21:03 --> 21:05 [SPEAKER_04]: At the beginning of the episode, she leaves her behind.
21:05 --> 21:15 [SPEAKER_04]: And in this moment in the episode, when Jordan's trying to stop Marie from walking into something that could cause her death, Marie uses her Paris to stop Jordan.
21:15 --> 21:17 [SPEAKER_04]: So, um, well, and the others as well,
21:17 --> 21:23 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's just specifically with Jordan because they're in a relationship and she said we won't break apart We won't change to Jordan last week.
21:23 --> 21:24 [SPEAKER_04]: It's the real way.
21:24 --> 21:26 [SPEAKER_04]: I feel happy We're Jordan.
21:26 --> 21:28 [SPEAKER_06]: So that's basically my moment.
21:28 --> 21:29 [SPEAKER_06]: It's just the the
21:32 --> 21:39 [SPEAKER_06]: the reveal that Annabeth has had these powers the longer than she had said to anyone.
21:39 --> 21:47 [SPEAKER_06]: And indeed, maybe have the chance to prevent her parent's death and so reveals that to Marie.
21:48 --> 21:48 [SPEAKER_04]: Excellent.
21:48 --> 21:51 [SPEAKER_04]: I'll go on to my sophomore moment for the episode.
21:52 --> 21:53 [SPEAKER_04]: And it is no soup for you.
21:54 --> 21:58 [SPEAKER_04]: This is the choice that Marie makes to not.
21:59 --> 22:02 [SPEAKER_04]: turned Kate back into the soup that she had been in the past.
22:03 --> 22:06 [SPEAKER_04]: Kate, being one of the most powerful soups that we'd seen all the way through it.
22:06 --> 22:09 [SPEAKER_04]: She's more than eventually making a two-voltares and a long-side homelander, you know.
22:10 --> 22:23 [SPEAKER_04]: So she is a person with massive powers, but she's lost them this season because of everything that's happened to her, and Marie has the opportunity to cure her on multiple occasions and continues to refuse to do so.
22:24 --> 22:32 [SPEAKER_04]: And I just think it's really interesting as we go through the episode because Marie is making very specific decisions not to cure Kate.
22:34 --> 22:39 [SPEAKER_04]: At first, it was, come along with me, you can watch my back, but I'm not giving your parents back.
22:40 --> 22:46 [SPEAKER_04]: Then she tells her, well, I'm not giving your parents back because look what you did, everything you did, led to us being in prison for months and months on end.
22:47 --> 22:53 [SPEAKER_04]: Then she tells her, well, it's your fault that Andre died because if we weren't in prison, Andre wouldn't have been pushed to his limits and wouldn't have died.
22:53 --> 22:58 [SPEAKER_04]: And then she all handedly cures polarity when he goes through a seizure.
22:58 --> 23:02 [SPEAKER_04]: She just instantly cures him in the same room as Kate.
23:03 --> 23:06 [SPEAKER_04]: telling Kate once again, I'm not going to cure you.
23:06 --> 23:07 [SPEAKER_04]: I don't care what you say.
23:07 --> 23:11 [SPEAKER_04]: You are going to use your Paris on us at some stage in the future.
23:11 --> 23:16 [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm not giving you those Paris back because it caused so many problems for us.
23:16 --> 23:23 [SPEAKER_04]: And then when she stands up to Jordan or tries to block Jordan from stopping her going on what she considered her mission.
23:23 --> 23:27 [SPEAKER_04]: She tells Kate to use her powers on the rest of that group on that rest of that group.
23:27 --> 23:43 [SPEAKER_06]: She tells the friend, she tells Kate, she will cure her if she promises to use her powers to effectively wipe their memory so that they don't know that Marie is about to go after Cypher and Gaudol, exactly.
23:44 --> 23:58 [SPEAKER_06]: And Kate is the one that in that moment shows consistency at least from her offer to Marie earlier in the episode, which is, no, I promised I wouldn't do it on any of my friends ever again, exactly.
23:59 --> 24:02 [SPEAKER_06]: And I'm not going to do it, so doesn't get her powers back.
24:03 --> 24:13 [SPEAKER_06]: That is the interesting kind of change here and in a sense almost the telomeree because you're just like What are you doing Marie?
24:13 --> 24:30 [SPEAKER_06]: I mean is there this notion that she's You know all the hype of how powerful she is and that's starting to Not only go to her head, but it means she doesn't listen not even to her closest friends to all the soups about
24:32 --> 24:34 [SPEAKER_06]: what she should or shouldn't be doing.
24:35 --> 24:39 [SPEAKER_06]: It's like she's she's no longer taking counsel effectively.
24:39 --> 24:48 [SPEAKER_06]: She is just making executive decisions by herself that impacts effectively her girlfriend boyfriend.
24:48 --> 24:51 [SPEAKER_06]: In Jordan, effects the health of polarity.
24:51 --> 24:57 [SPEAKER_06]: Effects how Kate is being perceived and like I do like the fact that polarity
24:58 --> 25:05 [SPEAKER_06]: asks Marie to cure her after she has cured him from the seizures.
25:05 --> 25:13 [SPEAKER_06]: Because, as he says, it makes sense so that she is the one that can find scyther.
25:13 --> 25:20 [SPEAKER_06]: And yes, as you say, do you then go down the the rules of saying, well, yes, she deserve to be rescued from
25:27 --> 25:33 [SPEAKER_06]: Andre, and you have polarity coming, well, if you want to blame anyone for Andre's death, blame me.
25:33 --> 25:38 [SPEAKER_06]: I'm the one that didn't tell him that this was a side effect of the powers that we have.
25:38 --> 25:39 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
25:39 --> 25:48 [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, he understands, because it's happened to him how vault can get under your skin to do the things you never thought you would do.
25:49 --> 25:49 [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely.
25:49 --> 25:50 [SPEAKER_04]: And I remember all
25:50 --> 26:01 [SPEAKER_04]: the way through season one when Andre was coming to his dad with things that he was seeing that were very wrong about what Vault was doing at the school and his father kind of saying you'll ruin your career if you report any of that.
26:01 --> 26:02 [SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that.
26:02 --> 26:03 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, exactly.
26:03 --> 26:06 [SPEAKER_04]: You're a number one in this system you need to stay within the system basically.
26:06 --> 26:09 [SPEAKER_04]: So that's a massive change for me.
26:09 --> 26:12 [SPEAKER_04]: He says to them that the Vault machine makes you do those kind of things.
26:13 --> 26:17 [SPEAKER_04]: So he understands it's just a really interesting idea here that
26:18 --> 26:28 [SPEAKER_04]: one episode after Marie's been told she's the only person along with homelander that survived and was created in the same way at homelander.
26:28 --> 26:29 [SPEAKER_04]: She was protesting through right?
26:29 --> 26:36 [SPEAKER_04]: The episode when anybody said she was like homelander and here she is ignoring everybody's direction and making decisions.
26:36 --> 26:37 [SPEAKER_04]: It's quite interesting.
26:37 --> 26:38 [SPEAKER_04]: It may not be the best decisions.
26:38 --> 26:58 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so it's quite interesting here and about like there's almost something in you know, we'll talk about it in a second But there's almost something in her even going so far as to cure Thomas Cadelkin It's almost like that's something built into the back of her brain that she must do because she's making up excuses to force herself into
26:59 --> 27:03 [SPEAKER_04]: curing Thomas Goodalkin when it doesn't make sense that that is the right thing to do.
27:04 --> 27:08 [SPEAKER_04]: She's convinced herself on very little evidence that it's absolutely the right thing to do.
27:08 --> 27:10 [SPEAKER_04]: Almost like she's been controlled to do that.
27:10 --> 27:12 [SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know if that's the case, but it's almost like that.
27:13 --> 27:14 [SPEAKER_06]: I think Stan Edkuss.
27:16 --> 27:29 [SPEAKER_06]: information, I guess, the weight of who he used to be in terms of the CEO of Vort, knowing about Thomas Cadillac, and seeing him being protective of his granddaughter.
27:29 --> 27:34 [SPEAKER_06]: In a sense, I think that carried a lot of weight.
27:35 --> 27:44 [SPEAKER_06]: That's why she leaves quite soon after Stan Edgar has kind of laid it on the table in that
27:46 --> 27:52 [SPEAKER_06]: You know, she's now convinced that Thomas Cadolkin is the person that can stop home lander.
27:52 --> 27:52 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
27:53 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_06]: And maybe he is, absolutely, given the power that he has.
27:57 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_06]: Mm-hmm.
27:58 --> 28:01 [SPEAKER_06]: And, but it's whether he wants to, because... See that.
28:01 --> 28:06 [SPEAKER_06]: And home lander doesn't have hands for feet, you know?
28:06 --> 28:08 [SPEAKER_06]: But, yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
28:08 --> 28:11 [SPEAKER_06]: So, he's got a worthy power.
28:11 --> 28:33 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well it's only thing but also multiple mentions throughout the episode when I keep calling this out because it's really important multiple mentions throughout the episode This is all the plan that sister sage concocted with Thomas Cadalken multiple mentions that the reason why Marie is here is because she just can't help herself She's got that hero complex that will push her to be here and push her to cure Thomas Cadalken
28:33 --> 28:42 [SPEAKER_04]: And even though you can hear it in his voice when he gets cured, you can hear him go, wow, that woman really is way more intelligent than I give her credit for.
28:43 --> 28:45 [SPEAKER_04]: She was able to predict all of this.
28:46 --> 28:51 [SPEAKER_04]: Even though he didn't believe it was going to happen, it did happen exactly to Sister Sage's plan.
28:51 --> 28:54 [SPEAKER_04]: As we've said throughout the discussion about her appearance on this show,
28:55 --> 29:00 [SPEAKER_04]: She was side-by-side with homelander telling him she will get him into full power.
29:00 --> 29:15 [SPEAKER_04]: So this is all going into that central plot that she had back in season four of the boys, where she will do everything to keep homelander and top and now she's got the creator of the program that created him back where he needs to be, I guess.
29:15 --> 29:23 [SPEAKER_06]: But I mean, she's also been put in a place by homeland as well, and you just wonder whether this is an insurance?
29:23 --> 29:24 [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think so.
29:24 --> 29:25 [SPEAKER_06]: No, at the end.
29:25 --> 29:32 [SPEAKER_04]: The season ended last season with her going, you chose to be to do everything in my pair to keep you in pair.
29:32 --> 29:35 [SPEAKER_04]: And we learned this season when she came in the cameo this season.
29:35 --> 29:36 [SPEAKER_04]: We learned that she is the head of Altna.
29:36 --> 29:41 [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, she's she and home lander are definitely working together.
29:41 --> 29:43 [SPEAKER_04]: And they've got Tom Skittalken on their side.
29:43 --> 29:45 [SPEAKER_04]: Hmm, interesting one.
29:45 --> 29:47 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, absolutely.
29:47 --> 29:50 [SPEAKER_06]: I think that's it for our medium moments.
29:50 --> 29:55 [SPEAKER_06]: I think we should get on to our senior moments.
29:56 --> 29:57 [SPEAKER_04]: Colour seniors down.
29:57 --> 29:58 [SPEAKER_04]: Colour seniors.
29:58 --> 30:00 [SPEAKER_04]: What's your senior moment for the episode?
30:01 --> 30:08 [SPEAKER_06]: And I think mine is simply the, uh, holy Trinity of Cypher, Gadolkin and Doug Brightbill.
30:09 --> 30:20 [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, in essence here, I think the fight, the confrontation between polarity and Cypher, you know, effectively to distract Cypher as they think.
30:21 --> 30:21 [SPEAKER_06]: So that,
30:22 --> 30:27 [SPEAKER_06]: Marie can go down to cure and heal Thomas Goodolkin.
30:27 --> 30:30 [SPEAKER_06]: And actually confirmed that it is him, sure.
30:30 --> 30:36 [SPEAKER_06]: You know, the fight first and foremost is just really, really good.
30:37 --> 30:47 [SPEAKER_06]: I like how cyphers as kind of figured out how polarity is able to block him through the use of
30:51 --> 31:03 [SPEAKER_06]: polarity effectively on the metals in, at the nerve endings in order to prevent, and safer from using him as a meat-purposed.
31:05 --> 31:09 [SPEAKER_06]: But then I do like Cypher says, well, can you guess where I'll be next?
31:09 --> 31:24 [SPEAKER_06]: And so just jumps between people very quickly as then you have, you know, taking interns, Greg, Sam, and Jordan, beating the crap out of poor polarity.
31:25 --> 31:25 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
31:26 --> 31:35 [SPEAKER_06]: Ultimately, they do win and have him sort of pin down with polarity ready to, I'm guessing, chop his head off.
31:35 --> 31:39 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's just about the cool, cool cipher to stop the cool.
31:40 --> 31:40 [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
31:40 --> 31:47 [SPEAKER_04]: But there is a moment where polarity does like a primal scream and that primal scream knocks all of them down, which is just it is really interesting.
31:47 --> 31:48 [SPEAKER_04]: It's not just that he was
31:49 --> 31:55 [SPEAKER_04]: It's like he's also leveled up his powers, like Cypher has been talking about throughout the season.
31:55 --> 31:59 [SPEAKER_04]: If they put in these moments of stress, they can level up their powers, polarity and that again.
32:00 --> 32:09 [SPEAKER_04]: Now knocking everybody down in the room and knowing that Cypher was jumping between the others, but Jordan Sam and Greg all fall to the ground along with Cypher.
32:10 --> 32:14 [SPEAKER_04]: And then, as you say, we see polarity standing above him about to kill him.
32:15 --> 32:35 [SPEAKER_06]: who he thinks is cipher and then we're in the truth that we kind of suspected a bit that this person's cipher doesn't actually exist cipher is cipher is not him and he's just dug bright that bill is being effectively well he's had weights thrown at him so he's in a huge amount of pain he's complaining about having
32:36 --> 32:40 [SPEAKER_06]: the man in his head, him in his head, been controlled by him.
32:40 --> 32:56 [SPEAKER_06]: And as we see down in the basements underneath the training room, as Marie is healing Kodalkin and regaining his own consciousness and being within his own physical body, you get Doug Brightville here.
32:57 --> 33:06 [SPEAKER_06]: who is pleading with polarity, not to use the big sword to cut off his head, and that yet he's not cipher at all.
33:07 --> 33:08 [SPEAKER_06]: He's dug brightville.
33:09 --> 33:20 [SPEAKER_06]: It is Thomas Kodolkin who is, you know, quote, cipher, in that sense, or has the powers that has been placed on dug brightville with the moniker
33:24 --> 33:43 [SPEAKER_06]: I did like how creepy Thomas Gadolkin kind of stood up that notion of just kind of almost getting used to his body, almost like he's his own meat purpose, where he's trying to feel his own purpose again with his own bossy years as he walked in that body, yeah.
33:44 --> 33:44 [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
33:44 --> 33:48 [SPEAKER_06]: And you hear him when he comes out of the building of it later, you know, just
33:55 --> 34:17 [SPEAKER_06]: Like the look of him, the sudden change that you get in his demeanor, the background music gets a little more taught and tense and you have that great moment where he says, our value in this world comes and goes with our power and you just see Kate.
34:18 --> 34:40 [SPEAKER_06]: stiffening over that because it's what's safer used in his office and at Gadolkin University earlier after she had lost her own powers and she's kind of like we need to get out of here and you know it's clear to her
34:41 --> 34:46 [SPEAKER_06]: Thomas Goodolkin is Cypher, is the one who has been manipulating
34:48 --> 34:49 [SPEAKER_06]: Doug Brightbill.
34:49 --> 34:54 [SPEAKER_06]: He's the meat puppet here and it's just a great little reveal.
34:54 --> 34:57 [SPEAKER_06]: Even though there's been the theories about that, you know, this is the case.
34:58 --> 34:59 [SPEAKER_06]: And I think it's a great reveal.
35:00 --> 35:10 [SPEAKER_06]: I like how it flits between this real cool sequence of marine healing, Thomas Goodock and polarity in the battle with Cyther and the others.
35:11 --> 35:15 [SPEAKER_06]: And then there's just creepy moment with the realisation.
35:15 --> 35:16 [SPEAKER_06]: I just think how they
35:18 --> 35:42 [SPEAKER_06]: informed us of doing it was just don't really well and I think the actor playing Thomas Gadolkin just the looks and expressions that he gave like he just looked creepy and kind of made even more absurd by the fact that he is wearing his nappy that he's had to have you know his adult nappy whilst he's been in the hyperbolic chamber and again
35:42 --> 35:50 [SPEAKER_06]: further elevated and weirdness with him pulsing and was saying, well, you're too old to be a player to know why you were in the tap.
35:50 --> 35:54 [SPEAKER_06]: And so I just liked how it was revealed.
35:54 --> 35:59 [SPEAKER_06]: And I think having Kate clock it is really, really cool.
35:59 --> 36:06 [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely, maybe she should have been cured of her her ability to are given her abilities back because then she could have touched Thomas
36:10 --> 36:33 [SPEAKER_04]: Reeves knocked out unable to do anything, you know, and but you're right there is a just a creepiness about it It kind of give me little moments of Voldemort arriving back, you know, that yeah, that's kind of things where you have them even the fact that he gets What looks like a cloak and puts it around and wraps it around himself before he leaves to go out into the university You know, it all it just feels like the arrival of a Voldemort in some way
36:34 --> 36:37 [SPEAKER_06]: Just a huge moment, I think.
36:38 --> 36:42 [SPEAKER_06]: It really has been leading to this moment.
36:42 --> 36:45 [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely, as we go into the finale next week.
36:46 --> 36:46 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
36:46 --> 36:48 [SPEAKER_04]: I wanted to mention a couple of little quick things.
36:48 --> 36:52 [SPEAKER_04]: A bag that I do love that he's pleading on the ground.
36:52 --> 36:56 [SPEAKER_04]: It sounds like he's got a broken back and broken legs from all the things that have been thrown at him.
36:56 --> 36:57 [SPEAKER_04]: So we had
36:58 --> 37:08 [SPEAKER_04]: been talking about this possession pair of like meat puppets as we've mentioned multiple times, so it seems like not only is he able to be inside their mind, they could show what people say.
37:08 --> 37:14 [SPEAKER_04]: The way that Doug is pleading not to be here and telling them how much pain he's in, it sounds like he's literally being...
37:15 --> 37:30 [SPEAKER_04]: like a marionette almost like he's being held up by this pair of Thomas Goodalkin which is a bit shocking and he also says he has a cat and he just lost the job he was living out of his car because he lost his job a blockbuster a job he got fired from
37:30 --> 37:36 [SPEAKER_04]: Now, Blockbuster, in case you don't remember, would chain of video stories back in the 90s.
37:36 --> 37:42 [SPEAKER_04]: There's only one left of the US in Oregon, and that's been the only one for about seven or eight years.
37:42 --> 37:51 [SPEAKER_04]: So, how long has this character of Dope Brightbill been in the control of Thomas Cadelkin?
37:51 --> 37:57 [SPEAKER_04]: Has it been like two decades since he's been in control of him, or is it much more recent than that?
37:57 --> 37:58 [SPEAKER_04]: And he just lived in Oregon.
37:59 --> 38:07 [SPEAKER_06]: I mean Thomas Kodolkin has been injured since throughout the 60s and all 70s, they we saw at the start of this season.
38:08 --> 38:15 [SPEAKER_06]: So he's not as such unless he's able to do stuff, you know, very close by.
38:15 --> 38:21 [SPEAKER_06]: I reckon it's sister Sage who's having to bring him the meatpuppet.
38:27 --> 38:29 [SPEAKER_06]: slightly immobile really.
38:29 --> 38:33 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I was kind of thinking of the, uh, I don't really know the, well, you don't know.
38:33 --> 38:37 [SPEAKER_04]: You don't know the, and I spoke, uh, tell the Bobby C for the, I kind of thought it was the,
38:38 --> 38:46 [SPEAKER_04]: he gets inside the body of somebody and then jumps the spirit from that person to the next person and eventually brings them back himself.
38:46 --> 38:48 [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, it could absolutely be such a thing.
38:48 --> 38:50 [SPEAKER_06]: It could be that absolutely.
38:50 --> 38:56 [SPEAKER_06]: It's just, I'm thinking more than it's a range thing that after so far he can't do that.
38:56 --> 38:57 [SPEAKER_06]: But maybe he can.
38:57 --> 38:59 [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, maybe it's exactly like that.
38:59 --> 39:06 [SPEAKER_04]: And it does, you know, there's something that's been going on throughout the season that we haven't been able to work out why it's been happening or we've been seeing
39:07 --> 39:13 [SPEAKER_04]: who we now know is Doug slapping the body of Thomas Cadalk and over and over again.
39:14 --> 39:15 [SPEAKER_04]: And it gets to a head in this episode.
39:15 --> 39:25 [SPEAKER_04]: We see Cypher taking out a belt and slapping Thomas Cadalk and then eventually picking up the oxygen tank and saying, well, now it's time to end it.
39:26 --> 39:31 [SPEAKER_04]: And finally, with all this put together, you realize that what actually has been happening the
39:35 --> 39:53 [SPEAKER_04]: And if what happens last week with polarity happens that there is a way to block the ability of Thomas Gidelken will he'll be put back into that body, that burnt body that's been there since 1967, unable to move stuck in the body with somebody blocking him inside.
39:53 --> 39:55 [SPEAKER_04]: So he was going to kill that body and just
39:56 --> 39:58 [SPEAKER_04]: stay alive inside the body of Doug Briteville.
39:59 --> 40:06 [SPEAKER_04]: And by killing the body of Thomas Cadelth, and then Doug's body would be the host for the symbiotal most, and he would stay inside his body.
40:06 --> 40:08 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and that's interesting.
40:08 --> 40:13 [SPEAKER_06]: So, because you do hear Cypher saying that there might have to be a great sacrifice as well.
40:14 --> 40:15 [SPEAKER_06]: Which means that
40:16 --> 40:25 [SPEAKER_06]: Thomas Goodall can doesn't need to be alive in his original body for him to remain active.
40:25 --> 40:37 [SPEAKER_06]: So that idea of the spirit jumper makes a lot of sense in because it is that that's the essence of Thomas Goodall can as a soup.
40:37 --> 40:38 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's not.
40:39 --> 40:41 [SPEAKER_06]: tied to his physical form.
40:41 --> 40:45 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's just the fact that we've seen him control people from the body of Cypher.
40:45 --> 40:51 [SPEAKER_04]: So, so it's almost like he's fully possessing Cypher and then he's able to recharge on his ass of the people from there.
40:51 --> 40:54 [SPEAKER_04]: So, it's been really interesting, but now he's in a fully formed...
40:56 --> 40:59 [SPEAKER_04]: for the reformed version of the Tom Scadalken body in there.
40:59 --> 41:00 [SPEAKER_04]: Eight on count.
41:00 --> 41:01 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
41:02 --> 41:03 [SPEAKER_04]: There isn't a huge amount more from the episode.
41:03 --> 41:06 [SPEAKER_04]: My major moment from the episode was a base.
41:06 --> 41:07 [SPEAKER_04]: Good Alka and how he goes.
41:07 --> 41:11 [SPEAKER_04]: How he goes out to an actor's plan because that's how we lose himple.
41:11 --> 41:13 [SPEAKER_04]: The first person that he meets when he comes outside.
41:14 --> 41:17 [SPEAKER_04]: When he realizes that his power is that he has a poseable feet.
41:17 --> 41:22 [SPEAKER_04]: His big toes become films or a poseable poseable toes.
41:23 --> 41:25 [SPEAKER_04]: He makes him choke himself to death.
41:25 --> 41:25 [SPEAKER_04]: Well, yes.
41:26 --> 41:30 [SPEAKER_06]: And he says, we want gods to walk this earth, not circus freaks.
41:30 --> 41:42 [SPEAKER_04]: So from a comic book perspective, I don't know whether you got this John, that's the difference between how DC used to sell their comics versus how Marvel used to sell their comics, DC talked about gods walking amongst us.
41:42 --> 41:47 [SPEAKER_04]: That was their big thing about people like Superman and Superman and Wonder Woman.
41:47 --> 41:53 [SPEAKER_04]: They are gods walking the earth, whereas Marvel talked about people gaining superpowers and how
41:53 --> 41:56 [SPEAKER_04]: the superpowers would exist in the real world of most.
41:56 --> 41:59 [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of, it was kind of those that difference between one side and the other.
42:00 --> 42:02 [SPEAKER_04]: So here it's looking at people that have silly powers.
42:03 --> 42:06 [SPEAKER_04]: Like let's say squirrel, girl, as an example, I know people love squirrel, girl.
42:07 --> 42:08 [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I can't believe you saw that there.
42:08 --> 42:13 [SPEAKER_04]: What you could see, Thomas, it's a good alking, come up and going, hang on, you have the ability to talk to squirrels.
42:13 --> 42:16 [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, yeah, go over there and any too many knots.
42:17 --> 42:17 [SPEAKER_04]: No, that kind of thing.
42:18 --> 42:18 [SPEAKER_04]: And so,
42:19 --> 42:25 [SPEAKER_06]: It depends on your personal preference as well because it is ultimately, she's very powerful of course.
42:25 --> 42:25 [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
42:26 --> 42:34 [SPEAKER_06]: And it is ultimately, you could go, yes, DC had that idea of God's walking among you, but then also have condiment man.
42:34 --> 42:36 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, but you could also go.
42:37 --> 42:49 [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I'm going to keep condiment man around actually because every time I need a bit catch up brown sauce, monsters, hot chili sauce, sweet chili sauce, you know, salt pepper.
42:49 --> 42:56 [SPEAKER_04]: The point to suppose is that yes, this is the personal preference of a scientist, namely Thomas Cadelkin who
42:57 --> 43:12 [SPEAKER_04]: is thinking of this whole thing as a massive science experiment that's gone out of control, without his hand in the mix going, no, no, no, we don't want a soup whose ability is to turn into a swimming pool or to color themselves like the flag of every country.
43:12 --> 43:17 [SPEAKER_04]: We don't want that, that's a side effect of a bad experiment of an experiment gone wrong.
43:17 --> 43:19 [SPEAKER_04]: We'll kill all of those and leave the ones that have got
43:20 --> 43:25 [SPEAKER_04]: real legitimate superpowers, like Kate's parer for example, like Marie's parer, like his own parer.
43:26 --> 43:32 [SPEAKER_04]: And so it puts a quite a few people on the board to be killed, I guess.
43:32 --> 43:35 [SPEAKER_04]: One person that comes to mind is Emma and Harper's friend.
43:36 --> 43:37 [SPEAKER_06]: Bushmaster?
43:37 --> 43:42 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, who has the ability to control not the hered her head only her pubic hair.
43:42 --> 43:48 [SPEAKER_04]: I have a feeling that Tom Scadolkin would think that's an embarrassing pair that may not be very useful.
43:48 --> 43:50 [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm wondering if that's what's going to happen.
43:50 --> 43:58 [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to see some of the characters that we've seen throughout season one and two with these very silly superpowers and those people are the ones that we're going to be and we're going to see getting killed.
43:58 --> 44:02 [SPEAKER_04]: Because we have a connection with a lot of those characters now after being on screen for you.
44:02 --> 44:04 [SPEAKER_04]: I know absolutely absolutely.
44:04 --> 44:09 [SPEAKER_04]: And I for one would keep condiment King around.
44:09 --> 44:10 [SPEAKER_04]: He's not in this uterus channel.
44:10 --> 44:11 [SPEAKER_04]: I know he's not.
44:11 --> 44:13 [SPEAKER_04]: He's over in Gotham getting beaten up by Batman.
44:13 --> 44:23 [SPEAKER_06]: But I think you can imagine, you know, or it like, my fingers become like fries, continuous bag of fries or chips, you know.
44:25 --> 44:29 [SPEAKER_04]: Condemn King will never not be a hilarious parrot.
44:29 --> 44:30 [SPEAKER_04]: I agree.
44:30 --> 44:32 [SPEAKER_04]: It's super villain character.
44:32 --> 44:34 [SPEAKER_06]: If you like condom, it could be very useful.
44:34 --> 44:35 [SPEAKER_04]: And you might be going to keep them around.
44:35 --> 44:38 [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that was matched the criteria of Tom Scott Altman.
44:38 --> 44:40 [SPEAKER_04]: I think Tom Scott Altman is a very evil man.
44:40 --> 44:41 [SPEAKER_04]: I want to say so.
44:43 --> 44:45 [SPEAKER_04]: be people up, fly big.
44:46 --> 44:52 [SPEAKER_04]: He wants to create a brand new Vort 7 potentially with people with strong super pairs.
44:53 --> 44:59 [SPEAKER_04]: I even wonder if the deep might be on his list for people with use of super pairs who can speak to fish.
44:59 --> 45:01 [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe that's not something on his list.
45:01 --> 45:04 [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe, yeah, there'd be very interesting to see how he perceives the
45:07 --> 45:13 [SPEAKER_04]: And that's this for my major moments, I just wanted to talk about that and who could be on the target list for Cadillac and when he returns.
45:14 --> 45:15 [SPEAKER_04]: And you know it's any points that you haven't talked about, John.
45:16 --> 45:17 [SPEAKER_06]: And no, no one's from me.
45:18 --> 45:19 [SPEAKER_06]: What about yourself, Derek?
45:19 --> 45:24 [SPEAKER_04]: I just had one that seemed to be a line that was surviving from a previous draft of the episode.
45:24 --> 45:25 [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry to say it.
45:27 --> 45:39 [SPEAKER_04]: It's just in the conversation with Marie and Kate when they arrive at the University and Marie turns around to Kate and goes, at least we're here at the University we can go back to our rooms and get a change of clothes and get out of these Malmyra clothes.
45:39 --> 45:41 [SPEAKER_04]: They're not in Malmyra clothes.
45:41 --> 45:42 [SPEAKER_04]: They're in the clothes they got from the library.
45:43 --> 45:44 [SPEAKER_04]: So that obviously
45:49 --> 45:56 [SPEAKER_04]: rewrites all the filming and because they're actually still wearing the clothes that they were wearing that they took from the library.
45:56 --> 46:03 [SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know how it got to the point where Maria is saying we need to get out of these on my recluse because my recluse would have been there.
46:04 --> 46:08 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's just a silly moment that you notice that somebody
46:09 --> 46:15 [SPEAKER_04]: let a line get through multiple drafts on to screen and nobody said, hang on a second, that doesn't make sense.
46:16 --> 46:17 [SPEAKER_06]: It's the continuity element, isn't it?
46:17 --> 46:22 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just a bit of a surprise, doesn't happen very often, especially not in the show of this caliber.
46:23 --> 46:32 [SPEAKER_04]: So I just wanted to watch the catcher also really like the moment with Anna Beth and Jordan having the conversation and Anna Beth trying to understand the relationship goes to Jordan.
46:32 --> 46:38 [SPEAKER_04]: So are you and my sister in a boyfriend girlfriend girlfriend kind of situation has that the deal?
46:39 --> 46:44 [SPEAKER_04]: So, like that's a naming of their relationship, so that was quite good.
46:44 --> 46:49 [SPEAKER_04]: John, overall, what do you think of this episode of January, the ultimate episode of The Seed and Hell Week?
46:49 --> 46:51 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I really, really enjoyed this.
46:51 --> 46:52 [SPEAKER_06]: It was good.
46:52 --> 46:58 [SPEAKER_06]: And I give it for and a half booklipes out of five.
46:58 --> 47:00 [SPEAKER_06]: At this day, I think you're a member.
47:00 --> 47:01 [SPEAKER_04]: It certainly is.
47:01 --> 47:04 [SPEAKER_06]: I've got some hemorrhoids out of five units.
47:04 --> 47:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
47:07 --> 47:15 [SPEAKER_06]: And I just liked how Thomas Kodolkin's Cypher Doug Brightville kind of got revealed really.
47:15 --> 47:17 [SPEAKER_06]: I loved that it was Kate.
47:18 --> 47:38 [SPEAKER_06]: I really enjoyed the Kate Marie dynamic because actually I think the journey well Marie as well it's just not entirely sure I know now what the journey of Marie is but Kate has been on a journey she's realized
47:39 --> 47:40 [SPEAKER_06]: what she did.
47:40 --> 47:49 [SPEAKER_06]: She is trying to return for it, whether she is being given that opportunity by the likes of Marie or Jordan or Emma.
47:49 --> 47:57 [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe that's the thing that's actually going to be the surprises that Emma realizes she's been
47:58 --> 48:22 [SPEAKER_06]: backing the wrong horse in a sense with Marie and I just don't know what Marie's path leads down was Kate I've really enjoyed that certainly where she refuses to get her powers back because of what the conditions are around the put on by Marie and so that was really good
48:25 --> 48:30 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I think Polaris here really enjoyed how polarity has been used here.
48:30 --> 48:35 [SPEAKER_06]: And I suspect that's because, in a sense, he's become the replacement for Andre.
48:35 --> 48:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely.
48:36 --> 48:36 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, boss.
48:37 --> 48:41 [SPEAKER_04]: And I can't tell you that they would have used the father of one of the other characters.
48:41 --> 48:42 [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
48:42 --> 48:43 [SPEAKER_04]: Heavy roll thread.
48:44 --> 48:44 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
48:44 --> 48:48 [SPEAKER_06]: You kind of feel that the cure would have happened to Andre.
48:48 --> 48:48 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
48:49 --> 48:49 [SPEAKER_06]: But...
48:49 --> 49:04 [SPEAKER_06]: You know, given the situation, I just really think polarity's story has just had that not job, and it's been really good, see, love the fight in the training room and the cure of Thomas Goodall can really good.
49:05 --> 49:06 [SPEAKER_06]: And so yeah, for me, this is, uh,
49:07 --> 49:10 [SPEAKER_06]: four and a half butt wipes out of five.
49:11 --> 49:11 [SPEAKER_04]: Fantastic, yeah.
49:12 --> 49:13 [SPEAKER_04]: It must have a racing for the App Store.
49:13 --> 49:14 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I really enjoyed this one.
49:14 --> 49:16 [SPEAKER_04]: It's really a really good episode.
49:17 --> 49:18 [SPEAKER_04]: But I think we need to go and wear our whistle.
49:19 --> 49:22 [SPEAKER_04]: Get out of the pub, get a few shots in, or at least steady the nerves.
49:23 --> 49:24 [SPEAKER_04]: I would have a beer maybe.
49:25 --> 49:44 [SPEAKER_06]: Indeed, yes fellow boys and girls fellow quizzes welcome to the boys gen V student bar quiz This is episode seven which means where are already on the penultimate question question seven Which is what do they call hempell and pledges like him?
49:44 --> 49:48 [SPEAKER_04]: That's in the conversation he has with Sam, who had to take over him as a pledge, isn't that right?
49:48 --> 49:50 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, and what they call them, excellent.
49:50 --> 49:51 [SPEAKER_04]: Do you want to give the question one more time, Jeff?
49:52 --> 49:56 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, what do they call him, and pledges like him?

51:21 --> 51:24 [SPEAKER_04]: First up, we have an email in from Coffee and vodka.
51:24 --> 51:28 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, Coffee and vodka says greetings, fellow oopsie defenders.
51:29 --> 51:36 [SPEAKER_06]: Reeves Bestlay plans produced the best worst villain and the best best episode of the season.
51:36 --> 51:40 [SPEAKER_06]: We got this world's Knack C5 Charles Xavier battling it's
51:45 --> 51:46 [SPEAKER_06]: and events.
51:47 --> 51:58 [SPEAKER_06]: And as a not so insignificant aside, I'd bet Kate got fixed up right alongside polarity, where this, the season finale, had no problems.
51:58 --> 52:04 [SPEAKER_06]: Gaudolkin, if anything, is even more malevolent now than he was via his birdie puppet form.
52:04 --> 52:08 [SPEAKER_06]: Walking among the students, he looked like a dire wolf among sheep.
52:08 --> 52:12 [SPEAKER_06]: Looked this, and I can't imagine what could possibly come next.
52:12 --> 52:14 [SPEAKER_06]: Likewise, cannot wait to find out.
52:14 --> 52:23 [SPEAKER_06]: 5 Fratshop Boys, Civic servants, and premenstrual premenitions out of 5 peace and take care, coffee and vodka.
52:25 --> 52:43 [SPEAKER_04]: fan has the coffee vlog I love that description of good alken walking like a Darrywell for mong sheep and I like the parallel of Charles Xavier and Mike Nietzsche as well yeah really really good yeah accent thanks so much for your thoughts on this episode coffee vlog only one more week to go
52:44 --> 52:44 [SPEAKER_04]: for the finale.
52:45 --> 52:49 [SPEAKER_04]: I like yourself really looking forward to see what comes next in the final episode.
52:49 --> 52:50 [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely, absolutely.
52:51 --> 52:56 [SPEAKER_04]: We have some feedback over on our spoiler post over on our Facebook group at facebook.com slash groups slash TV podcast industries.
52:57 --> 52:58 [SPEAKER_04]: I was asked to start it with this jump.
53:04 --> 53:19 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, Dr. Bob Phillips says the Cypher was indeed a Cypher, the singular Anus returned and we discover that Cadelkin must have needed less than one liter per minute flow race of medical oxygen or that tiny tank would have run it in four hours or so since the flight from the gnome home.
53:20 --> 53:29 [SPEAKER_04]: On the flip side, I think my polarity slash mine control gas was too far off and anyway else getting Jessica Jones' fly versus big jump flashbacks in the Sam Greg argument.
53:30 --> 53:31 [SPEAKER_04]: Fantastic, Dr Bob.
53:31 --> 53:34 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that's exactly what came to mind for me as well.
53:34 --> 53:53 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, in the fly slash jump flashbacks I did like the fact that it's the the two sides of people that are vying for Emma's attention One can jump and one can fly and Sam's really annoyed that Greg's using his flying parrot to help the match Even though he coughs up all the way there And from there from their high date Yeah, really good
53:54 --> 53:55 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, no, absolutely.
53:55 --> 54:02 [SPEAKER_06]: And of course, I got a lot of Ace Ventura pet detective with temple coming out of black holes.
54:03 --> 54:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Quantum singularity as well.
54:05 --> 54:07 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, that you've said it.
54:07 --> 54:09 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I am reminded of the Red House.
54:09 --> 54:15 [SPEAKER_06]: And he is also having come back from the safari and just coming out of a rhino, I guess, that element as well.
54:15 --> 54:16 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I must be that.
54:16 --> 54:17 [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, lots of flashbacks.
