Gen V Season 2 Episode 2 "Justice Never Forgets" Details
Developed by: Craig Rosenberg, Evan Goldberg & Eric Kripke
Based on the comic series from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson
Episode written by: Ellie Monahan
Episode directed by: Steve Boyum
Synopsis:
After Starlight’s recommendation, Marie returns to Godolkin University. After learning that Cate is still alive but in a coma, she works with Emma and Jordan to plan what to do next.
Sam visits Cate and, using a nurse as an intermediary, Cate mentions Emma's name, before driving the nurse crazy and having her kill another nurse.
Andre Anderson’s father, Polarity, returns to the university as a professor to discover what happened to his son. Marie also investigates the death of Andre but learns from medical records provided by Dean Cipher that Andre knew using his powers would kill him because of his condition and he did it anyway.
Cipher brings both Marie and Jordan into his special class which will focus their powers. Their first lesson involves fighting their way passed the warrior supe Vikor to push a button. The brawl is no holds barred leading to serious injury for many of the students but working together Jordan and Marie succeed. This helps them reconcile and restart their relationship.
Persuading the librarian and archivist The Rememberer to allow them access, Emma and Polarity investigate Odessa and discover a room with Nazi artifacts and a file that reveals Odessa are babies, all dead except for one.
On her way to share the information with Jordan and Marie, Emma has a face-to-face with Sam about Cate, but Emma has had enough and tells him he will have to confront and accept all of the bad things he’s done.
On Vought News, Firecracker reveals that Vought have caught the human responsible for Cate’s attack. The Starlighter held responsible and murdered by Dogknot was the same human who helped Marie while she was on the run. As the rest of the campus cheer their victory over the humans, Emma tells Marie that she has learned SHE is Odessa.
Meanwhile in hospital Cate awakens from her coma in a room with the staff dead just as Dean Cipher enters.

Gen V Season 2 Episode 2 Justice Never Forgets Synopsis
00:00:00.140 --> 00:00:03.540
[DEREK]: This is The Boys Gen V Podcast on TV Podcast Industries.
00:00:03.540 --> 00:00:08.900
[DEREK]: We're back talking about Gen V Season 2, Episode 2, Justice Never Forgets.
00:00:08.900 --> 00:00:18.800
[FIRECRACKER]: Cate Dunlap, the angel who saved countless super-abled lives during the massacre at Godolkin was viciously attacked last night.
00:00:18.800 --> 00:00:24.940
[FIRECRACKER]: If a beautiful, righteous, god-fearing hero like her was targeted, then none of us are safe.
00:00:24.940 --> 00:00:32.120
[FIRECRACKER]: This was a hate crime against the most persecuted minority group in history.
00:00:32.120 --> 00:00:35.760
[FIRECRACKER]: Superheroes, but they sure picked the wrong group to mess with.
00:01:01.173 --> 00:01:06.153
[DEREK]: Welcome back, fellow boys and girls, to The Boys Gen V Podcast from TV Podcast Industries.
00:01:06.153 --> 00:01:11.853
[DEREK]: We're back with our chats all about Gen V, season two, episode two, Justice Never Forgets this time.
00:01:11.853 --> 00:01:13.433
[DEREK]: I'm one of your hosts, Derek.
00:01:13.433 --> 00:01:15.733
[CHRIS]: And I'm your other host, Shushing in the Background.
00:01:15.733 --> 00:01:16.133
[DEREK]: Excellent.
00:01:16.133 --> 00:01:18.913
[CHRIS]: All together now, Justice Never Forgets.
00:01:19.033 --> 00:01:22.193
[DEREK]: Shh, yes, welcome back, Chris.
00:01:22.193 --> 00:01:24.113
[DEREK]: Yes, we're not gonna be silent at all.
00:01:24.113 --> 00:01:31.113
[DEREK]: This is a podcast, obviously, so it'll be a really boring podcast if we shh all about our things that we remember from the episode.
00:01:31.113 --> 00:01:35.253
[DEREK]: And the one thing I remember is, I have another co-host, Chris is back.
00:01:35.253 --> 00:01:36.273
[DEREK]: Yeah, for Gen V.
00:01:36.273 --> 00:01:37.413
[CHRIS]: Welcome back, Chris.
00:01:37.413 --> 00:01:38.493
[CHRIS]: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
00:01:38.493 --> 00:01:41.153
[CHRIS]: You know, I came back for the mature ones, you know?
00:01:41.153 --> 00:01:49.313
[CHRIS]: No, I've been busy in spring break or summer break or whatever you call it, just work.
00:01:49.313 --> 00:01:52.693
[DEREK]: Yes, we did have you during summer at one point, I'm sure.
00:01:52.753 --> 00:01:55.053
[CHRIS]: I was working, basically, crazy.
00:01:55.053 --> 00:02:10.853
[CHRIS]: The joys of having a real career in the background and a two-year-old kid sometimes means that the only podcasting I get to do is listening to my own thoughts as I try and help my two-year-old potty train.
00:02:10.853 --> 00:02:15.093
[CHRIS]: I'm trying to think and understand why, why, why did I do this?
00:02:15.093 --> 00:02:16.853
[CHRIS]: Why did I decide to potty train?
00:02:16.853 --> 00:02:17.833
[DEREK]: I love it.
00:02:17.833 --> 00:02:23.173
[DEREK]: I'm glad that you added that you do have a two-year-old son because myself and John do also have professional careers in the background as well.
00:02:23.173 --> 00:02:26.373
[DEREK]: So if we'd been able to podcast a new Haddon, there'd be something really, really wrong.
00:02:26.373 --> 00:02:33.493
[DEREK]: So yes, we did have to have you back for this because as most of our long-term listeners know, Chris is the one that brought The Boys to us.
00:02:33.493 --> 00:02:38.873
[DEREK]: Originally, when the first season came out, we weren't going to cover it because we didn't really cover anything on Prime Video at the time.
00:02:38.873 --> 00:02:41.313
[DEREK]: But ever since, this has been one of our biggest shows.
00:02:41.313 --> 00:03:00.473
[DEREK]: The Boys going increasingly big with their big, big swings in the big series of The Boys, having this spin-off of Gen V, which we talked about last time, following on directly from the end of season 3 of The Boys, leading into season 4, coming out of season 4, coming into season 5, hopefully at the end of Gen V.
00:03:00.473 --> 00:03:08.013
[DEREK]: So not so much a spin-off with Gen V as a really central story as part of The Boys universe.
00:03:08.073 --> 00:03:27.273
[CHRIS]: And potentially this episode does link to the third or the second spin-off and the third show in this universe, which is the story of Vought back in the day, which is going to be with Soulja Boy, Jensen Eccles and Co.
00:03:27.273 --> 00:03:33.013
[CHRIS]: back in the initial founding of The Seven and all that in the Vought days.
00:03:33.013 --> 00:03:37.273
[CHRIS]: So definitely something we'll catch up and talk about very soon in this episode.
00:03:37.693 --> 00:03:44.073
[CHRIS]: But yeah, really looking forward to going deep, if you will, on Gen V season 2.
00:03:44.073 --> 00:03:45.193
[DEREK]: Absolutely, absolutely.
00:03:45.193 --> 00:03:46.273
[DEREK]: Delighted to have you back.
00:03:46.273 --> 00:03:59.753

00:04:15.273 --> 00:04:16.313
[DEREK]: We also want to hear your thoughts.
00:04:16.313 --> 00:04:18.033
[DEREK]: Three episodes dropped this week on Prime Video.
00:04:18.033 --> 00:04:23.193
[DEREK]: We know you're all desperately watching every single morsel of those episodes and have thoughts about what's happened.
00:04:23.193 --> 00:04:24.513
[DEREK]: And we want to hear from you.

00:04:39.613 --> 00:04:45.013
[DEREK]: And final announcement, just a reminder, we are continuing our Gen V Pub quiz for season two.
00:04:45.013 --> 00:04:52.833
[DEREK]: The question will be coming up later in the episode, even though John isn't here with us as he's off at his reunion for his college days.
00:04:52.833 --> 00:04:55.233
[DEREK]: This week, he's left behind the questions for this week.
00:04:55.233 --> 00:04:58.593
[DEREK]: And all you need to do is just gather together the answers to all the questions.
00:04:58.593 --> 00:05:00.713
[DEREK]: Email us at the end of the season to the feedback address.
00:05:00.753 --> 00:05:07.873
[DEREK]: This will be back at tvpodcastindustries.com and you could be in with a chance of getting your hands on some Gen V goodies.
00:05:08.113 --> 00:05:10.073
[CHRIS]: Yes, yes, yes.
00:05:10.073 --> 00:05:12.793
[CHRIS]: Derek, you've done a lot of talking, but I'm going to ask you to do more.
00:05:12.793 --> 00:05:13.393
[CHRIS]: Of course.
00:05:13.393 --> 00:05:18.273
[CHRIS]: Can you give us the what, where, when and how with the episode details for this episode?
00:05:18.273 --> 00:05:19.353
[DEREK]: Yeah, of course I can.
00:05:19.353 --> 00:05:23.893
[DEREK]: The show is developed by Craig Rosenberg and Evan Goldberg and Eric Kripke.
00:05:23.893 --> 00:05:26.593
[DEREK]: It's based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Derek Robertson.
00:05:26.593 --> 00:05:29.653
[DEREK]: The executive producers for the show are Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
00:05:29.973 --> 00:05:34.993
[DEREK]: And this episode was directed once again by Stephen Boyum, who directed episode one of this season.
00:05:34.993 --> 00:05:37.173
[DEREK]: The episode was written by Jessica Chow.
00:05:37.173 --> 00:05:45.053
[DEREK]: She's written three episodes of The Boys so far, including the seminal Herogasm episode and has an episode in the final season already under her belt.
00:05:45.053 --> 00:05:47.313
[DEREK]: She's written that written on season five of The Boys as well.
00:05:47.313 --> 00:05:52.493
[DEREK]: So kind of cool that they're not only interweaving characters back and forth throughout The Boys universe.
00:05:52.493 --> 00:05:56.173
[DEREK]: Lots of the writers and directors coming over as well to direct episodes of Gen V too.
00:05:57.393 --> 00:06:02.893
[CHRIS]: Makes sense, especially with how connected the storylines are.
00:06:02.893 --> 00:06:16.733
[CHRIS]: I don't know if you've seen any of the marketing impressor interviews where they are actively telling everyone that this will have direct impact, direct high impact on the storyline for season five.
00:06:16.793 --> 00:06:17.453
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:06:17.453 --> 00:06:25.073
[CHRIS]: Well, we already saw how that in the season four case basically took Frenchie.
00:06:25.073 --> 00:06:26.773
[CHRIS]: So we saw that they have direct impact.
00:06:26.773 --> 00:06:28.153
[CHRIS]: They're going to do that crossover.
00:06:28.153 --> 00:06:38.133
[CHRIS]: But yeah, they're even marketing just with the first three episodes of how big of an impact the writers, the storylines are going to connect.
00:06:38.193 --> 00:06:43.533
[CHRIS]: So it makes sense with Jessica kind of threading through as well with the writers room.
00:06:43.533 --> 00:06:44.293
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:06:44.293 --> 00:06:55.973
[DEREK]: I think these days, in streaming days with massive shows that are only eight episodes and come out every two or three years, I think it makes a lot of sense for a spin-off to happen in between those big shows to be as connected to it.
00:06:55.973 --> 00:07:01.853
[DEREK]: So this is almost like, as they said, this is almost like The Boys 4.5 going into season five.
00:07:01.893 --> 00:07:04.613
[DEREK]: So you kind of have to watch it to make sure you know all the characters.
00:07:04.613 --> 00:07:15.293
[DEREK]: Because I'd say it's quite a surprise at the end of season four when two characters that you've never seen rock up and take away two of the biggest characters from the show with Branchian and Kamiko.
00:07:15.293 --> 00:07:16.513
[CHRIS]: Yeah, no, definitely.
00:07:16.513 --> 00:07:16.813
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:07:16.813 --> 00:07:17.533
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:07:17.533 --> 00:07:18.293
[CHRIS]: Great stuff.
00:07:18.293 --> 00:07:20.933
[DEREK]: Well, John, do you want to give us the synopsis for...
00:07:20.933 --> 00:07:21.693
[DEREK]: Oh, John's not here.
00:07:21.693 --> 00:07:27.593
[DEREK]: Chris, would you like to give us John's synopsis for this episode of Gen V season two, episode two, Justice Never Forgets?
00:07:28.653 --> 00:07:30.053
[CHRIS]: Sure.
00:07:30.053 --> 00:07:34.573
[CHRIS]: After Starlight's recommendation, Marie returns to Godolkin University.
00:07:34.573 --> 00:07:40.973
[CHRIS]: After learning that Kate is still alive, but in a coma, she works with Emma and Jordan to plan what to do next.
00:07:40.973 --> 00:07:50.573
[CHRIS]: Sam visits Kate, and using a nurse as an intermediary, Kate mentions Emma's name before driving the nurse crazy and having her kill another nurse.
00:07:50.573 --> 00:07:57.213
[CHRIS]: Andre Anderson's father, Polarity, returns to the university as a professor to discover what happened to his son.
00:07:57.213 --> 00:08:10.493
[CHRIS]: Marie also investigates the death of Andre, but learns from medical records provided by Dean Cipher that Andre knew using his powers would kill him because of his condition, and he did it anyway.
00:08:10.493 --> 00:08:15.753
[CHRIS]: Cipher brings both Marie and Jordan into a special class which will focus their powers.
00:08:15.753 --> 00:08:21.733
[CHRIS]: Their first lesson involves fighting their way past the warrior soup, Victor, just to push a button.
00:08:21.733 --> 00:08:29.893
[CHRIS]: The brawl is no holds barred, leading to serious injury for many of the students, but working together Jordan and Marie succeed.
00:08:29.893 --> 00:08:33.833
[CHRIS]: This helps them reconcile and restart their relationship.
00:08:33.833 --> 00:08:49.973
[CHRIS]: Persuading the Librarian and Archivist, the Rememberer, to allow them access, Emma and Polarity investigate Odessa and discover a room with Nazi artefacts and a file that reveals Odessa are babies, all of them dead except for one.
00:08:49.973 --> 00:09:03.573
[CHRIS]: On her way to share the information with Jordan and Marie, Emma has a face to face with Sam about Cate, but Emma has had enough and tells him he will have to confront and accept all the bad things he's done.
00:09:03.573 --> 00:09:10.473
[CHRIS]: Over on Vaught News, Firecracker reveals that Vaught have caught the human responsible for Cate's attack.
00:09:10.473 --> 00:09:18.093
[CHRIS]: The Starlighter held responsible and murdered by Dognaught was the same human who helped Marie while she was on the run.
00:09:18.093 --> 00:09:24.813
[CHRIS]: As the rest of the campus cheer their victory over the humans, Emma tells Marie that she is Odessa.
00:09:26.113 --> 00:09:33.413
[CHRIS]: Meanwhile, in hospital, Cate awakens from her coma in a room with the staff dead just as Dean Cipher enters.
00:09:33.413 --> 00:09:35.073
[DEREK]: So yes, Cate awakens in the hospital.
00:09:35.073 --> 00:09:40.893
[DEREK]: We discussed on our last episode that it ending with a cliffhanger with blood coming out of the back of Cate's head.
00:09:40.893 --> 00:09:53.113
[DEREK]: We were wondering whether they would actually end the first episode with the death of a major character, but yeah, we kind of said they probably wouldn't kill off someone like Cate because she's so important to the story in that first episode.
00:09:53.113 --> 00:09:57.673
[CHRIS]: Yeah, I do see potentially not everyone else making it to the end of the series.
00:09:57.673 --> 00:09:58.453
[DEREK]: True.
00:09:58.453 --> 00:10:01.513
[CHRIS]: They would be open to killing.
00:10:01.513 --> 00:10:10.493
[CHRIS]: We did think that about Patrick Schwarzenegger's character back in the very first season where he does not make it past episode two.
00:10:10.493 --> 00:10:12.833
[CHRIS]: So there's definitely...
00:10:12.833 --> 00:10:28.493
[CHRIS]: When I was watching episode one and I moved to this, I moved to episode two, I was like, there is a slight chance they just drag her along and then maybe kind of don't have her awaken until the end or something.
00:10:28.493 --> 00:10:34.433
[CHRIS]: Seeing her eyes pop at the end of this episode, really, I was like, okay, no, she's back and that's her motivation.
00:10:34.433 --> 00:10:36.053
[CHRIS]: She's on the revenge path now.
00:10:37.473 --> 00:10:38.833
[CHRIS]: Definitely interesting to see.
00:10:40.293 --> 00:10:40.853
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:10:40.853 --> 00:10:44.053
[DEREK]: Well, I think it's time to get into our points from the episode.
00:10:44.053 --> 00:10:46.153
[DEREK]: Welcome back to the Students of GodU.
00:10:48.493 --> 00:10:52.173
[DEREK]: As we've chatted about our first episode, we talk about our major moments from the episode.
00:10:52.173 --> 00:11:04.993
[DEREK]: In three ways, we talk about our freshman or minor moment from the episode that stood out to us, our sophomore moment, which is our medium moment from the episode, and the major moments from the episode, hopefully covering everything within the episode that we can think about.
00:11:05.493 --> 00:11:12.433
[DEREK]: So we'll start off with our minor moment, something that stood out to us from the episode, or maybe just we couldn't get out of our head after watching the episode.
00:11:12.433 --> 00:11:17.013
[DEREK]: Chris, what's your one from this episode that stood out to you?
00:11:17.013 --> 00:11:19.973
[CHRIS]: Kevin Kohler, the frat president.
00:11:20.693 --> 00:11:22.253
[CHRIS]: We've definitely seen him before.
00:11:22.313 --> 00:11:23.433
[DEREK]: A few times, yes.
00:11:23.433 --> 00:11:27.613
[CHRIS]: A few times, a few times in this episode, and then a few times in other shows.
00:11:27.613 --> 00:11:28.933
[CHRIS]: Yes, The Deep.
00:11:28.933 --> 00:11:30.953
[CHRIS]: The Deep is the frat president.
00:11:30.953 --> 00:11:34.653
[CHRIS]: And not only is that also comes back for the hazing.
00:11:35.173 --> 00:11:38.813
[DEREK]: Yes, he seems to take a lot of pleasure in that, yes.
00:11:38.813 --> 00:11:39.513
[CHRIS]: Oh, God, yes.
00:11:39.513 --> 00:11:47.293
[CHRIS]: And it's a big wooden hazing that comes out very wet and sticky.
00:11:47.293 --> 00:11:48.893
[CHRIS]: They finish up the hazing.
00:11:48.893 --> 00:11:50.253
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:11:50.393 --> 00:11:55.533
[DEREK]: I just love how he introduces it with his speech saying, it's all about wisdom, dignity and honor.
00:11:55.533 --> 00:11:58.653
[DEREK]: There's the three pillars of that frat house.
00:11:58.653 --> 00:12:00.833
[DEREK]: And then he's like, now take off your pants.
00:12:02.153 --> 00:12:04.253
[DEREK]: Oh, God, it is the deep.
00:12:04.253 --> 00:12:08.073
[DEREK]: It would have to have something really horrible connected to it, wouldn't it?
00:12:08.393 --> 00:12:09.533
[CHRIS]: It does.
00:12:09.533 --> 00:12:10.673
[CHRIS]: And it's also the boys.
00:12:10.673 --> 00:12:24.673
[CHRIS]: It's just like they're going to lean into the debauchery that is the cliche of what is considered a frat house, a frat boy house in the US.
00:12:24.673 --> 00:12:25.813
[CHRIS]: Yes, exactly.
00:12:25.813 --> 00:12:26.813
[CHRIS]: So, yeah, definitely.
00:12:26.813 --> 00:12:27.753
[CHRIS]: That was that.
00:12:27.753 --> 00:12:28.693
[CHRIS]: That's my minor.
00:12:28.693 --> 00:12:30.033
[CHRIS]: That's my definitely.
00:12:30.273 --> 00:12:30.513
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:12:30.513 --> 00:12:30.693
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:12:30.693 --> 00:12:38.993
[DEREK]: And I think there's also just a moment when he tells, when he calls Rufus dickless, you don't use bleach on the implements that he's produced.
00:12:38.993 --> 00:12:43.833
[DEREK]: It's just, you know, he may have been frat president over and over again for many, many years.
00:12:43.833 --> 00:12:49.633
[DEREK]: We see those great photographs of him with different haircuts over the years that he's been involved.
00:12:49.633 --> 00:12:55.353
[DEREK]: But even though Rufus is now the new president, he still has to bow down to The Deep, doesn't he?
00:12:55.413 --> 00:12:57.433
[CHRIS]: Oh, God, yeah.
00:12:57.433 --> 00:12:58.253
[DEREK]: Excellent.
00:12:58.253 --> 00:13:01.753
[DEREK]: My freshman moment, my one that stood out to me, is Stacey.
00:13:01.753 --> 00:13:08.493
[DEREK]: We talked about her last week where she's telling everybody to keep clear of her stinger on the back of her tail.
00:13:08.493 --> 00:13:14.873
[DEREK]: And once again, when she comes into the room to talk to Jordan and Marie here, we see her puking honey into a jar.
00:13:14.873 --> 00:13:19.653
[DEREK]: It's just, I just keep wondering how much of a bee is she?
00:13:19.653 --> 00:13:24.173
[DEREK]: If she takes off her coat, does she have black and yellow stripes all the way down her body underneath or something?
00:13:24.733 --> 00:13:26.753
[DEREK]: Is that how far we're going to go here?
00:13:26.753 --> 00:13:32.313
[DEREK]: But I love that she has obviously done this so often because basically honey is bee vomit.
00:13:32.313 --> 00:13:40.193
[DEREK]: Yes, but she does it so often that she has a jar to hand, pukes into it and then says to Jordan and Marie, we like this.
00:13:40.193 --> 00:13:41.053
[CHRIS]: It's expensive.
00:13:41.053 --> 00:13:41.873
[CHRIS]: It's artisan.
00:13:41.953 --> 00:13:42.673
[CHRIS]: It's organic.
00:13:42.673 --> 00:13:44.733
[DEREK]: Well, it's pretty unique as well.
00:13:44.733 --> 00:13:47.473
[DEREK]: There's not many human shaped bees walking around.
00:13:47.473 --> 00:13:50.413
[DEREK]: So you know, keep that in your closet.
00:13:51.393 --> 00:13:55.613
[CHRIS]: I love the idea that she probably has two tiny wings on her back.
00:13:55.613 --> 00:13:57.213
[CHRIS]: Like they're going to do something with that.
00:13:57.213 --> 00:14:00.253
[CHRIS]: And but for me, it's even this, it's just a fun.
00:14:00.253 --> 00:14:01.393
[CHRIS]: She's a busy bee.
00:14:01.393 --> 00:14:01.593
[DEREK]: Yes.
00:14:01.593 --> 00:14:02.873
[CHRIS]: She's just always there.
00:14:02.873 --> 00:14:06.173
[CHRIS]: And I was just like, as soon as I went, she's a bee.
00:14:06.173 --> 00:14:07.053
[CHRIS]: Oh, she's a busy bee.
00:14:07.053 --> 00:14:07.653
[CHRIS]: Okay.
00:14:08.393 --> 00:14:09.133
[CHRIS]: Well done.
00:14:09.133 --> 00:14:22.413
[DEREK]: Yeah, we were speculating whether she'll turn into, like the Ashley's from The Boys, because she starts out in the kind of PR realm where she'll be pulling out her hair by the end of the season as everybody just ignores everything that she asks them to do.
00:14:22.413 --> 00:14:28.973
[DEREK]: The other one that stood out to me, I can't move on without doing it, is Maverick on the toilet watching his phone.
00:14:28.973 --> 00:14:39.453
[DEREK]: Maverick is Translucent's son, so all we ever see him is his cap and his shades, and him having an invisible dump is an image that I never thought I'd see on TV.
00:14:40.013 --> 00:14:43.593
[CHRIS]: And we don't even know if it's invisible because the hat is in the way.
00:14:43.793 --> 00:14:45.333
[DEREK]: Yeah, you just hear the splash behind him.
00:14:45.333 --> 00:14:48.513
[DEREK]: I just wasn't expecting it at all.
00:14:48.513 --> 00:14:48.953
[DEREK]: There you go.
00:14:48.953 --> 00:14:51.993
[DEREK]: Those are our minor moments from this episode.
00:14:51.993 --> 00:14:56.793
[DEREK]: Chris, do you want to kick us off with your medium sized moment, your sophomore moment for the episode?
00:14:56.793 --> 00:14:57.253
[CHRIS]: Sure.
00:14:57.413 --> 00:15:04.013
[CHRIS]: I did want to just bring up Dean Cipher, bringing both Marie and Jordan into this special class.
00:15:04.033 --> 00:15:05.193
[DEREK]: With Vy'Kor.
00:15:05.193 --> 00:15:05.693
[DEREK]: Yes.
00:15:05.693 --> 00:15:08.813
[CHRIS]: Vy'Kor, their off-brand Thor.
00:15:08.813 --> 00:15:09.813
[DEREK]: Yes.
00:15:09.813 --> 00:15:10.833
[DEREK]: Straight out of God of War.
00:15:12.713 --> 00:15:13.953
[CHRIS]: Boy.
00:15:13.953 --> 00:15:30.073
[CHRIS]: For me, this is an interesting one because it's very much about, okay, yes, Cipher, Dean Cipher, Decipher, his thing is about deciphering powers and kind of getting them, making them the most of what they are.
00:15:30.073 --> 00:15:37.673
[CHRIS]: So I do like this idea of that the more they use the powers, the stronger they train, the bigger, better, stronger they'll become.
00:15:38.533 --> 00:15:46.773
[CHRIS]: And even part of that, we see, like, he starts to hint at this, which is, well, why, Marie, why are you cutting yourself?
00:15:46.773 --> 00:15:48.733
[CHRIS]: It's very emo.
00:15:48.733 --> 00:15:49.933
[CHRIS]: Like, you control the blood.
00:15:49.933 --> 00:15:51.553
[CHRIS]: What part of the blood do you control?
00:15:51.553 --> 00:16:00.573
[CHRIS]: Like, very much trying to get her to think outside the cut, if you will, the knife.
00:16:00.573 --> 00:16:03.113
[CHRIS]: We then see Jordan even start to level up as well.
00:16:03.393 --> 00:16:38.013
[CHRIS]: Jordan really uses this kind of force power plus their strength plus their ability to shift back and forth, pushing additional kind of heights and very interesting, very just interesting from a story point of view and the kind of the, but my God, brutally kind of shown off with the level of blood and cracks and the sound of the bones smashing against the wall and then just it's the boys universe.
00:16:38.013 --> 00:16:40.493
[CHRIS]: So Amazon do what Amazon do best.
00:16:40.493 --> 00:16:44.873
[CHRIS]: They like, they, it's no holes barred cinematography.
00:16:44.873 --> 00:16:53.133
[CHRIS]: So it is like, this isn't your, this isn't our Agatha All Along podcast kind of review.
00:16:53.133 --> 00:16:57.253
[CHRIS]: It is like, Oh, that, that, that person's dead and never going to walk again.
00:16:57.413 --> 00:17:09.153
[DEREK]: Well, yeah, yeah, there's, there's a moment where, when Cipher comes in at the end, after Marie and Jordan have gotten past Vicar, where they kind of look at the student around them and go, you know, what were you thinking?
00:17:09.153 --> 00:17:13.113
[DEREK]: And he's even saying, and next week we'll do the same thing, you know, see you all next week.
00:17:13.113 --> 00:17:15.273
[DEREK]: They go, but like the kid over there is going to broke him back.
00:17:15.273 --> 00:17:17.733
[DEREK]: And he's like, ah, he'll heal or maybe he won't.
00:17:17.733 --> 00:17:19.253
[DEREK]: That's not the situation here.
00:17:19.253 --> 00:17:20.593
[DEREK]: That's not what it's about.
00:17:20.593 --> 00:17:21.753
[DEREK]: These aren't students.
00:17:21.753 --> 00:17:23.113
[DEREK]: These are soldiers.
00:17:23.113 --> 00:17:26.853
[DEREK]: It's a very big change to what they've been experiencing.
00:17:26.933 --> 00:17:28.313
[DEREK]: God, you have the past.
00:17:28.313 --> 00:17:58.653
[DEREK]: And it does help to understand why he's had no problem with Jordan and Marie and Emma coming back into school after everything that they've done, everything that every kind of problem that they caused in season one, just that simple explanation that he's going to be turning them into soldiers fighting on behalf of Vought makes a lot more sense why they allow people in that completely disrupted the system last season, no matter what he spread on top of that when he was doing his presentation to the world at the beginning of last episode.
00:17:59.773 --> 00:18:16.513
[DEREK]: It just needed that little extra piece of description for me as to why they wouldn't hold them in some kind of prison, even if they were allowed back on the campus, but here he's saying no, he's going to turn them into much more super powerful beings and they're going to be used as soldiers.
00:18:16.513 --> 00:18:16.993
[DEREK]: Kind of interesting.
00:18:17.013 --> 00:18:19.533
[CHRIS]: Yeah, it's a race war.
00:18:19.533 --> 00:18:21.553
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:18:21.553 --> 00:18:34.513
[DEREK]: One of the thing I really liked about the conversation at the beginning of this at Vicar is that one of the students points out, oh, that's Vicar, star of Valhalla 3, Lust and Lightning, four stars on Rotten Tomatoes.
00:18:34.513 --> 00:18:36.773
[DEREK]: Four stars or 4% on Rotten Tomatoes.
00:18:37.673 --> 00:18:41.373
[DEREK]: That's lower than Thor, Love and Thunder, isn't it?
00:18:42.753 --> 00:18:45.353
[CHRIS]: Yeah, 4% is definitely something.
00:18:46.333 --> 00:18:48.293
[DEREK]: That's lower than Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
00:18:48.293 --> 00:18:49.173
[CHRIS]: And that was a good film.
00:18:49.173 --> 00:18:50.093
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:18:50.093 --> 00:18:51.593
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:18:51.593 --> 00:18:56.233
[DEREK]: But I think that does kick him up a notch in his fighting ability.
00:18:56.233 --> 00:18:59.253
[DEREK]: He seems to want to take out all of the kids there.
00:18:59.253 --> 00:19:09.093
[DEREK]: Because he started out when he walks in initially, he looks at Marie Moreau and aims for her, said, are you ready to take the hammer, basically?
00:19:09.093 --> 00:19:11.013
[DEREK]: It looked like he was aiming for her.
00:19:11.013 --> 00:19:12.433
[DEREK]: Jordan says that a couple of times.
00:19:12.433 --> 00:19:14.333
[DEREK]: Why is that he's after you specifically?
00:19:14.393 --> 00:19:16.573
[DEREK]: Why do you have such a hard on for Marie?
00:19:16.573 --> 00:19:23.873
[DEREK]: So it feels like maybe Dean Cipher is specifically targeting Marie in this situation and everybody else is just a casualty of that.
00:19:23.873 --> 00:19:31.593
[DEREK]: But I think just when that little criticism of his movie is thrown out there, he just goes after all the rest of the kids as well.
00:19:31.593 --> 00:19:33.633
[DEREK]: But he knows Marie is very powerful.
00:19:33.673 --> 00:19:34.333
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:19:34.333 --> 00:19:44.293
[CHRIS]: No, and I feel that's going to be an ever going storyline, which is Marie is being pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed.
00:19:44.293 --> 00:19:45.593
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:19:45.593 --> 00:19:50.693
[CHRIS]: We'll see where that goes because obviously we've seen her break before.
00:19:50.693 --> 00:19:53.273
[CHRIS]: We've seen her explode arms before.
00:19:53.273 --> 00:19:53.973
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:19:53.973 --> 00:19:55.493
[CHRIS]: So definitely an interesting one.
00:19:55.493 --> 00:19:56.473
[DEREK]: Yeah, absolutely.
00:19:56.473 --> 00:19:56.853
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:19:56.853 --> 00:19:57.953
[CHRIS]: What about yourself, Derek?
00:19:57.953 --> 00:19:59.393
[CHRIS]: What's your medium moment?
00:19:59.393 --> 00:20:00.233
[CHRIS]: What's your sophomore?
00:20:02.133 --> 00:20:08.453
[DEREK]: My medium moment for the episode is just Sam and Emma having a moment together.
00:20:08.453 --> 00:20:11.373
[DEREK]: You know, they were very, very close in season one.
00:20:12.013 --> 00:20:26.253
[DEREK]: They were separated by Sam pushing her away and then going to Cate and having his mind kind of changed or hidden, I suppose, or his feelings hidden deep down.
00:20:26.253 --> 00:20:28.433
[DEREK]: So he was doing the bidding of Cate.
00:20:29.413 --> 00:20:36.253
[DEREK]: And here we have him confronting Emma after Cate has been taken out, thinking that Emma is responsible for her death.
00:20:36.253 --> 00:20:42.013
[DEREK]: And what I like about the scene between the two of them is that Emma doesn't take any shit from him.
00:20:42.013 --> 00:20:45.373
[DEREK]: She instantly goes, no, no, you're the one that has the problem here.
00:20:45.373 --> 00:20:46.413
[DEREK]: I wasn't involved.
00:20:46.413 --> 00:20:47.493
[DEREK]: You're the one that has a problem here.
00:20:47.493 --> 00:20:57.573
[DEREK]: And you're going to have to take responsibility for everything that you've done while you think you can get away with it by just having it all calmed down and all put to the back of your mind.
00:20:57.673 --> 00:21:05.153
[DEREK]: You will eventually have to take responsibility for all the crap that you've done under the control or not of Kate.
00:21:05.153 --> 00:21:07.433
[DEREK]: So I really like that moment between the two of them.
00:21:07.433 --> 00:21:12.813
[DEREK]: It just really stood out as a great scene to bring the two of them kind of reconnecting again.
00:21:13.013 --> 00:21:22.233
[DEREK]: It's not like there's going to, it doesn't feel like there's going to be this moment where Emma is going to grab him and calm him down and take him back in into her arms.
00:21:22.233 --> 00:21:23.653
[CHRIS]: Yeah, no, no, no, definitely.
00:21:23.793 --> 00:21:30.173
[CHRIS]: And even more so as we've seen his reliance on Cate.
00:21:31.513 --> 00:21:39.433
[CHRIS]: So that, especially in the last episode of how she just pushes him to not feel.
00:21:39.433 --> 00:21:48.773
[CHRIS]: Now, we also know that there was downsides to that level of pushing that with his brother.
00:21:48.773 --> 00:21:49.233
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:21:49.813 --> 00:21:54.753
[CHRIS]: So it's interesting to see if that even plays a part in it as well.
00:21:54.753 --> 00:21:55.593
[DEREK]: Potentially, yeah.
00:21:55.593 --> 00:21:55.793
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:21:55.833 --> 00:21:58.173
[DEREK]: But at the moment, he has no access to her at all.
00:21:58.173 --> 00:22:00.713
[DEREK]: So she's still in a coma.
00:22:00.713 --> 00:22:06.873
[DEREK]: So he's starting to feel, I suppose, that the pain of the stuff kind of cropping back up again.
00:22:07.253 --> 00:22:10.213
[DEREK]: I kind of like that Emma is able to get through to him here as well.
00:22:10.213 --> 00:22:12.813
[DEREK]: She's kind of able to highlight things that he's done in the past.
00:22:12.813 --> 00:22:17.953
[DEREK]: You know, it does take a toll on Sam instantly.
00:22:19.613 --> 00:22:25.593
[DEREK]: I think he was quite vacant at the end of last season when Kate had pushed him to forget everything.
00:22:25.593 --> 00:22:26.273
[DEREK]: He was really vacant.
00:22:26.273 --> 00:22:28.493
[DEREK]: He was kind of almost just doing her bidding.
00:22:29.413 --> 00:22:30.133
[DEREK]: And that was it.
00:22:30.133 --> 00:22:36.313
[DEREK]: Whereas now, because Kate's not there on campus, Emma taught Emma having these kind of stern words for him.
00:22:36.313 --> 00:22:39.953
[DEREK]: It's hitting him much harder, especially because it's Emma, I suppose.
00:22:39.993 --> 00:22:47.533
[CHRIS]: Yeah, and I wonder, Emma probably doesn't even know about the Frenchie and Kimiko stuff of working for Homelander.
00:22:47.533 --> 00:22:53.053
[CHRIS]: The stuff that we know that he is feeling bad about and the stuff they've done.
00:22:53.053 --> 00:23:00.793
[CHRIS]: So it's even more, there's even more guilt then, and Emma's even more correct than she's actually aware of.
00:23:00.793 --> 00:23:01.533
[DEREK]: Yeah, probably.
00:23:01.533 --> 00:23:02.713
[CHRIS]: Kind of getting it.
00:23:02.713 --> 00:23:07.753
[DEREK]: I know they were part of the national press that they kind of joined in with Vought, and with the Vought 7.
00:23:08.933 --> 00:23:15.093
[DEREK]: So I know that she will know that they will have done a lot, and Sam will have done a lot in their summer break.
00:23:15.093 --> 00:23:16.893
[DEREK]: But you may not know the details of it, you're right.
00:23:16.893 --> 00:23:18.653
[DEREK]: Yeah, yeah.
00:23:18.653 --> 00:23:20.353
[DEREK]: I guess that's it for our media moments.
00:23:20.353 --> 00:23:22.293
[DEREK]: Let's move on to the major moments from the episode.
00:23:22.293 --> 00:23:26.433
[DEREK]: Obviously, two huge things happened in this episode.
00:23:26.433 --> 00:23:32.813
[DEREK]: Not just Emma growing to a really large size without, just for fun, which was quite huge.
00:23:32.813 --> 00:23:35.933
[DEREK]: Chris, what's your major moment from the episode you want to talk about?
00:23:37.953 --> 00:23:49.093
[CHRIS]: So, I suppose that the major one for me is Dean Cipher giving Andre's medical records to Marie.
00:23:49.133 --> 00:23:51.773
[CHRIS]: And I know it's quite a...
00:23:51.773 --> 00:23:57.573
[CHRIS]: It's a small enough piece in that it is a very small scene.
00:23:57.573 --> 00:24:03.933
[CHRIS]: But what it does has huge ramifications across the rest of the stories.
00:24:03.933 --> 00:24:06.953
[CHRIS]: And what I assume is going to be the series.
00:24:06.993 --> 00:24:23.733
[CHRIS]: So we know now, through that medical records, that essentially Andre knew about his own tumour, knew about that the more he was using his powers, the more micro fractures and tears that he would have, much like his father.
00:24:23.733 --> 00:24:34.493
[CHRIS]: And the strain put under him for lifting that door when trying to escape, he knew that would kill him.
00:24:34.493 --> 00:24:36.613
[CHRIS]: So again, we know that now straight away.
00:24:36.833 --> 00:24:40.413
[CHRIS]: Now the rest of them don't until it kind of starts filtering out.
00:24:40.413 --> 00:24:53.373
[CHRIS]: But Andre, his death is such a linchpin, or keystone probably is a better term within the storyline of our good guys.
00:24:53.373 --> 00:24:56.793
[CHRIS]: It's bringing polarity in for these pieces.
00:24:56.793 --> 00:25:12.413
[CHRIS]: It's helping to kind of coalesce and have that central point of loss for all of our heroes outside of just not being happy with what happened in season one.
00:25:12.413 --> 00:25:16.933
[CHRIS]: Wanting to know and do what Starlight has asked of them.
00:25:16.933 --> 00:25:18.733
[CHRIS]: It's all these other bits.
00:25:18.733 --> 00:25:25.833
[CHRIS]: It's just Andre's death is that catalyst and the thing that kind of really is going to bring it forward.
00:25:25.833 --> 00:25:39.793
[CHRIS]: And I think I was talking to you about it off air, which is it's such a lovely tribute, but also just such an amazing piece, because this was not the original story.
00:25:39.793 --> 00:25:42.333
[CHRIS]: Andre was in the show.
00:25:42.333 --> 00:25:48.833
[CHRIS]: Chance, unfortunately passing, made them, caused them to have to rewrite his character.
00:25:48.833 --> 00:25:55.813
[CHRIS]: And what it doesn't feel, and it happened just as production was starting, as they were all heading to set.
00:25:55.813 --> 00:26:13.073
[CHRIS]: So for me, it's such a testament to not just the writers, but the staff, to the cast, to the director, to the producers, that this doesn't feel rushed, that this doesn't feel shoehorned in.
00:26:13.073 --> 00:26:16.333
[CHRIS]: And also the fact that it is so pivotal.
00:26:16.333 --> 00:26:18.753
[CHRIS]: It is that linchpin.
00:26:18.753 --> 00:26:20.453
[CHRIS]: And it is that thing that drives them.
00:26:20.453 --> 00:26:25.233
[CHRIS]: So I'm so happy with that in terms of, it's such a great memory.
00:26:25.233 --> 00:26:29.973
[CHRIS]: And it's such a great remembrance of Chance.
00:26:30.373 --> 00:26:34.313
[CHRIS]: But also it doesn't put to waste his character from season one.
00:26:34.833 --> 00:26:46.853
[CHRIS]: If anything, it just elevates the significance of Andre as a character in The Boys universe, as that catalyst.
00:26:46.853 --> 00:26:48.913
[CHRIS]: I just think it's such a nice thing to have.
00:26:48.913 --> 00:26:49.813
[CHRIS]: Absolutely.
00:26:49.813 --> 00:26:56.893
[CHRIS]: All just from what is ostensibly a quick scene with Dean Cipher and Marie.
00:26:57.633 --> 00:27:00.933
[CHRIS]: That's just my thoughts on why I think that's a very major pivotal moment.
00:27:00.933 --> 00:27:01.493
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:27:01.493 --> 00:27:03.853
[DEREK]: I think we mentioned it as well.
00:27:03.853 --> 00:27:16.613
[DEREK]: One of the important things that it's allowed them to do is have characters react to the death of the character in the show, along with the actors having a moment to be able to react to the death of their friend in between seasons as well.
00:27:16.613 --> 00:27:22.013
[DEREK]: It's really good that they've been able to incorporate this way, and it does lead into the other major point of the show.
00:27:22.053 --> 00:27:27.993
[DEREK]: We've mentioned Polarity there, Andre's father coming back to the university.
00:27:27.993 --> 00:27:31.593
[DEREK]: He's joining there as a member of the faculty.
00:27:32.753 --> 00:27:40.433
[DEREK]: The only reason he's taking the job is because he wants to find out what happened to his son or at least wants to get revenge for what happened to his son.
00:27:40.433 --> 00:27:54.973
[DEREK]: Regardless of whether Andre knew that doing the or trying to break out would cause his death, he did it because he's a hero, but he wouldn't have been in the situation if it wasn't for the people that involved in Godolkin University, and Polarity is going after that.
00:27:54.973 --> 00:28:04.913
[DEREK]: There's a moment where himself and Emma meet, where Emma finds out that he's come back to the college, and he's saying, I'm going to burn this place down, and I'm going to kill Dean Cipher, basically.
00:28:04.913 --> 00:28:07.453
[DEREK]: He is just on full-on revenge mode.
00:28:07.453 --> 00:28:15.233
[DEREK]: But I do love Emma's reaction quite quick, just a quick little touch that she just goes, oh, thank God there's an actual adult in the room here.
00:28:15.233 --> 00:28:19.213
[DEREK]: I'm so sick of having to deal with all of this stuff with just other students around me.
00:28:19.473 --> 00:28:21.473
[DEREK]: I'm not the pressure is just unbelievable.
00:28:22.033 --> 00:28:25.133
[DEREK]: So that's quite nice that they've kind of given them the adult role.
00:28:25.133 --> 00:28:35.853
[DEREK]: And then when he hears that it's Starlight that has set them on this task of finding out about Odessa and stopping it, that gives him pause and kind of goes, okay, maybe I should be involved in this investigation.
00:28:35.853 --> 00:28:43.733
[DEREK]: So he doesn't know anything about Odessa, but he knows where to start and where to start is over in the research labs with The Remember.
00:28:43.733 --> 00:28:49.033
[DEREK]: And I must say, this is definitely my major moment for the episode, The Remember and the visit to the library.
00:28:49.033 --> 00:29:03.793
[DEREK]: It's something that's kind of baked into Garth Ennis and Derek Robertson's The Boys universe is if you have a superhero heroic character that has a very specific power, make sure you showcase what that power is when you meet them.
00:29:03.793 --> 00:29:10.993
[DEREK]: So you don't just have a person in the library telling people to shush, you have a person who is incredibly good at remembering things.
00:29:10.993 --> 00:29:18.253
[DEREK]: So therefore they can call off everything that would be on a computer, but even better accuracy because they just remember everything infinitely better.
00:29:18.253 --> 00:29:19.973
[DEREK]: So that's the Rememberer character.
00:29:19.973 --> 00:29:22.033
[DEREK]: But of course, he's a supe of the universe.
00:29:22.033 --> 00:29:42.613
[DEREK]: He used to have his own TV show, and that's what gets them into the library because a very, very stoned or a very, very drug-inhibited Emma remembers back to when she was a child singing along to the Rememberer theme tune, watching the Rememberer show when she came home from school, dressing as the Rememberer for Halloween when she was 12 years old.
00:29:43.073 --> 00:29:59.913
[DEREK]: Absolutely love how much she fangirls out over the Rememberer to the point, if you notice, when he goes back to his desk and he's writing his notes up for his re-imagining of the series, he suddenly has a 23 year old blonde-haired girl who tells her that she loves him written into the script.
00:29:59.913 --> 00:30:03.873
[DEREK]: I would say he probably is hoping Emma is going to play in the future.
00:30:03.873 --> 00:30:04.633
[DEREK]: Love that.
00:30:04.633 --> 00:30:05.493
[DEREK]: Love this idea.
00:30:05.493 --> 00:30:19.713
[DEREK]: You know, the fact that Polarity is trying to get in with them going, you know, I remember you, the last time we met was whatever a couple of decades ago, when we went to such and such a thing and remember going, no, the last time we met was when you did you.
00:30:19.713 --> 00:30:22.473
[DEREK]: I was testing out for a new role.
00:30:22.473 --> 00:30:27.373
[DEREK]: You distracted me so much by telling me I was sitting on my own sandwich that I forgot a line.
00:30:27.373 --> 00:30:29.573
[DEREK]: The Rememberer forgot something.
00:30:29.573 --> 00:30:33.793
[DEREK]: So he's been waiting for his moment to tell Polarity, no.
00:30:33.793 --> 00:30:35.293
[DEREK]: And this is his moment.
00:30:35.293 --> 00:30:37.813
[DEREK]: If it wasn't for Emma, they never would have gotten in.
00:30:38.393 --> 00:30:42.133
[DEREK]: And probably, you know, it would have been years before he ever was granted access to that library.
00:30:42.533 --> 00:30:43.233
[DEREK]: Which I love.
00:30:43.753 --> 00:30:45.093
[DEREK]: I really enjoy that.
00:30:45.093 --> 00:30:51.073
[DEREK]: One of the touch I really like in the scene is Emma watching the clock and dancing along with the ticks.
00:30:51.073 --> 00:30:53.333
[DEREK]: I thought that was really good fun.
00:30:53.333 --> 00:30:56.953
[DEREK]: She's basically taken one of the drugs out of her Xanax bottle.
00:30:56.953 --> 00:30:59.133
[DEREK]: But it turns out to be a drug rather than a Xanax.
00:30:59.133 --> 00:31:02.393
[DEREK]: She was just trying to calm herself down and ended off being super stoned.
00:31:02.393 --> 00:31:03.813
[CHRIS]: Super, super high.
00:31:03.813 --> 00:31:04.653
[CHRIS]: It was so good.
00:31:04.773 --> 00:31:05.573
[CHRIS]: She's so good.
00:31:05.573 --> 00:31:07.753
[DEREK]: I forget how much I love this character.
00:31:07.753 --> 00:31:11.513
[DEREK]: I forget how good the performance is for Emma.
00:31:11.513 --> 00:31:19.133
[DEREK]: You know, she was a real standout last season, but Lizzie Broadway is just bringing an extra layer, I think, of comedy to the show this season.
00:31:19.133 --> 00:31:20.653
[DEREK]: They go in and investigate.
00:31:20.653 --> 00:31:23.733
[DEREK]: They find out that there's nothing really there.
00:31:23.733 --> 00:31:26.933
[DEREK]: They're going through box after box after box, trying to find anything.
00:31:26.933 --> 00:31:30.453
[DEREK]: And then she's the one that realizes there's a noise in the back.
00:31:30.453 --> 00:31:32.633
[DEREK]: And I love again, I love how she just delivers.
00:31:33.013 --> 00:31:36.473
[DEREK]: She'll be check the secret room over there because I can hear the fan going.
00:31:36.473 --> 00:31:39.133
[DEREK]: It's been going since we've been in here.
00:31:39.153 --> 00:31:40.873
[DEREK]: She hums along with it.
00:31:40.873 --> 00:31:43.393
[DEREK]: They open the door and find, well, guess what?
00:31:43.393 --> 00:31:47.513
[DEREK]: The massive Nazi room of Thomas Godolkin.
00:31:47.513 --> 00:31:50.733
[CHRIS]: I saw this and it's not just Nazi.
00:31:50.733 --> 00:31:53.173
[CHRIS]: There's KKK in there.
00:31:53.173 --> 00:31:54.313
[CHRIS]: There's all the same.
00:31:54.313 --> 00:31:55.433
[CHRIS]: Chris, it's just the same.
00:31:55.433 --> 00:31:58.153
[DEREK]: Just different words for the same thing.
00:31:58.153 --> 00:32:00.193
[CHRIS]: Which I think is why they have that in there.
00:32:01.073 --> 00:32:08.333
[CHRIS]: And they have a Native American costume from a very prototypical one in a glass case.
00:32:08.333 --> 00:32:10.393
[CHRIS]: I wonder what that is.
00:32:10.393 --> 00:32:11.933
[CHRIS]: Lots of Nazi paraphernalia.
00:32:11.933 --> 00:32:17.633
[DEREK]: It would make me think that that's something like a trophy that Thomas Godolkin has taken after hunting someone down.
00:32:17.633 --> 00:32:18.913
[DEREK]: That's what it almost sounds like.
00:32:19.313 --> 00:32:20.553
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:32:20.553 --> 00:32:37.393
[CHRIS]: Or, or, we're going to find this is like the robes of one of the first Vought superheroes in the early days, like the Chief or something like that.
00:32:37.393 --> 00:32:43.773
[CHRIS]: And again, we're going to see this era in this next spin-off.
00:32:43.773 --> 00:32:46.933
[CHRIS]: And I'm like, okay, so maybe there's definitely one or two bits here.
00:32:47.473 --> 00:33:08.773
[CHRIS]: The more very interesting piece, what we, aside from They Find Odessa, I think is just how clearly it basically places Vought and Godolkin and the rest of them as American Nazis.
00:33:08.773 --> 00:33:15.693
[CHRIS]: And we also even know that they were actual Nazis who were brought over from Germany into America.
00:33:16.953 --> 00:33:24.253
[CHRIS]: Interesting enough, the last show we covered with that amount of Nazism was City Of Angels.
00:33:24.253 --> 00:33:25.573
[DEREK]: Penny Dreadful, City Of Angels.
00:33:25.573 --> 00:33:26.313
[DEREK]: That's right.
00:33:26.313 --> 00:33:27.213
[DEREK]: Yes.
00:33:27.213 --> 00:33:37.553
[CHRIS]: Where we had to really discuss how Nazism and America and the Americas in the late 30s really kind of got.
00:33:37.873 --> 00:33:42.273
[DEREK]: In the 20s and 30s was a good decade before the war broke out in Germany.
00:33:43.233 --> 00:33:43.313
[FIRECRACKER]: Yeah.
00:33:43.313 --> 00:33:44.773
[CHRIS]: Yeah, there's a huge riots and stuff.
00:33:44.773 --> 00:33:53.133
[CHRIS]: And I think that's going to this will play a part, I think, in terms of how they bring a lot of that in key finding out what is Odessa.
00:33:53.133 --> 00:33:54.133
[DEREK]: Yeah, absolutely.
00:33:54.133 --> 00:33:59.293
[DEREK]: And, you know, it's not unexpected that there will be a Nazi at the centre of Godolkin University, as Chris said.
00:33:59.293 --> 00:34:06.213
[DEREK]: You know, we found out in season two of season three of The Boys that a Nazi was quite central in the beginning of vault as well.
00:34:06.213 --> 00:34:08.473
[DEREK]: So, yeah, not a huge surprise.
00:34:08.813 --> 00:34:26.673
[DEREK]: And all the way through the kind of groundwork they've been laying is that everything is leading back 60 years to the set up of the Compound V, to the set up of Godolkin University, which is in its 60th year, and to the set up of vault as an organisation as well.
00:34:26.673 --> 00:34:28.953
[DEREK]: So, yeah, we're going to see a lot more of that in the spinoff.
00:34:28.953 --> 00:34:34.853
[DEREK]: But this scene is really just more about Emma finding what Odessa is or finding the documentation about Odessa.
00:34:35.853 --> 00:34:48.973
[DEREK]: And I love that, yes, she excitedly realises she's found this out and then grows to massive size with, I guess, without chemical enhancement, but she's on drugs.
00:34:48.973 --> 00:34:56.453
[DEREK]: The last time we saw her grow this way, she was in full shame mode afterwards because she, everybody saw her naked and she was an absolute giant.
00:34:56.453 --> 00:35:04.173
[DEREK]: But here she excitedly exclaimed that she's able to grow herself without the embarrassment, I guess, which is kind of cool.
00:35:06.773 --> 00:35:13.333
[DEREK]: I do like that she's making her breasts into lasers while Polarity looks on.
00:35:13.333 --> 00:35:14.873
[DEREK]: I just think it's hilarious.
00:35:16.533 --> 00:35:18.853
[CHRIS]: No, it's fun.
00:35:18.853 --> 00:35:30.853
[CHRIS]: And that excitement on what Odessa, like basically it's a load of birth certificates and death certificates, except one, which I think is very interesting.
00:35:30.853 --> 00:35:31.513
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:35:31.513 --> 00:35:31.953
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:35:31.953 --> 00:35:37.713
[DEREK]: And revealed at the end of the episode by Emma to Marie, that it is Marie, Marie is Odessa.
00:35:37.713 --> 00:35:42.453
[DEREK]: So, yeah, we'll find out more about that in the next episode.
00:35:42.453 --> 00:35:42.913
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:35:42.913 --> 00:35:46.373
[CHRIS]: And the interesting thing to remember is another baby.
00:35:47.533 --> 00:35:53.233
[CHRIS]: Another one of the babies and Vaught was a certain Homelander.
00:35:53.233 --> 00:35:56.113
[CHRIS]: So I'm very interested to see that connection.
00:35:56.193 --> 00:35:57.193
[DEREK]: Absolutely, Chris.
00:35:57.193 --> 00:35:58.633
[DEREK]: Good, good catch.
00:35:58.633 --> 00:35:59.933
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:35:59.933 --> 00:36:00.373
[DEREK]: Great stuff.
00:36:00.373 --> 00:36:01.733
[CHRIS]: But there we have it.
00:36:01.733 --> 00:36:06.073
[DEREK]: Any other notes, anything else we haven't talked about from the episode that you'd like to mention?
00:36:06.073 --> 00:36:18.073
[CHRIS]: The one that I'm going to somewhat steal from you, just because I absolutely loved it, was the very forced, very cringe-worthy Marie social media posts.
00:36:18.073 --> 00:36:18.693
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:36:18.693 --> 00:36:21.433
[DEREK]: I presume these are, this is Vaught talk in this universe, is it?
00:36:21.473 --> 00:36:22.093
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:36:22.133 --> 00:36:23.133
[CHRIS]: It's like, it's there.
00:36:23.133 --> 00:36:29.173
[CHRIS]: It's just, hey fam, six nine, why don't you catch Flippy Uppy?
00:36:29.173 --> 00:36:32.273
[CHRIS]: And I'm like, oh God, that is how some of them talk.
00:36:32.273 --> 00:36:35.793
[CHRIS]: It is just, I am not down.
00:36:35.793 --> 00:36:38.633
[CHRIS]: I am not hippity hoppity down with the kids.
00:36:38.633 --> 00:36:41.213
[CHRIS]: But even I find that so cringe.
00:36:41.213 --> 00:36:42.713
[DEREK]: But I suppose that's it, isn't it?
00:36:42.893 --> 00:36:48.733
[DEREK]: It's that Marie of all people is not someone that wants to be doing this kind of stuff, but she knows she has to.
00:36:48.733 --> 00:36:50.693
[DEREK]: And there's two great ones in this episode.
00:36:50.733 --> 00:37:06.953
[DEREK]: The episode starts out with Marie recording her Valk Talk apology, because they're all thinking, well, if the PR team from Valk can get us back into school, all she needs to do is just record something for her followers, and then there'll be no problem.
00:37:06.953 --> 00:37:10.993
[DEREK]: And just the words that she says is like, no joke, fam, things were tough.
00:37:10.993 --> 00:37:15.673
[DEREK]: I needed space for my trauma and stuff, like my mental health journey.
00:37:15.673 --> 00:37:16.993
[DEREK]: And now that's all fine.
00:37:16.993 --> 00:37:18.633
[DEREK]: This year, GodU's gonna be lit.
00:37:19.013 --> 00:37:22.073
[DEREK]: It's just absolutely hilarious that she has to do it.
00:37:22.073 --> 00:37:34.993
[DEREK]: I think I was saying to John, actually, when we were watching it, after the Stacey, the pure lady and pure bee, after her, I think my favorite new character is fake Marie, the TikToks.
00:37:35.173 --> 00:37:35.893
[DEREK]: What was the other one?
00:37:36.393 --> 00:37:42.953
[DEREK]: She's standing outside of Kate's room, and she's going, are these flares really remind me of Kate's soul?
00:37:42.953 --> 00:37:46.293
[DEREK]: Send your thoughts and prayers in the comments below, like and subscribe.
00:37:46.373 --> 00:37:48.733
[DEREK]: It's like, oh no, this is awful.
00:37:48.733 --> 00:37:51.213
[DEREK]: This is the worst type of influencer.
00:37:51.213 --> 00:37:52.213
[DEREK]: Yeah, hilarious.
00:37:52.213 --> 00:38:05.413
[CHRIS]: And did you notice an interesting thing, which is they shift the color perspective in the on the show, which is when they're filming it on the phone for those segments, it's all extra blown up.
00:38:05.513 --> 00:38:06.833
[DEREK]: Oh yeah, loads.
00:38:06.833 --> 00:38:15.253
[CHRIS]: And then as soon as it cuts it back to real life, like it's more, it's back to the muted boys kind of color palette.
00:38:15.433 --> 00:38:16.893
[DEREK]: Makes sense.
00:38:17.933 --> 00:38:19.113
[DEREK]: Excellent.
00:38:19.113 --> 00:38:19.533
[DEREK]: Excellent.
00:38:19.533 --> 00:38:26.953
[DEREK]: And speaking of influencer, that's the other note I wanted to mention, was Emma having to go to influencer class with Modesty Monarch.
00:38:28.993 --> 00:38:37.173
[DEREK]: Again, another fun Supe character in this universe, you know, I mentioned literally wrong with the remember being the library guy.
00:38:37.173 --> 00:38:45.933
[DEREK]: Well, you got to have a person who's an influencer called Modesty Monarch because she says that everything was going okay.
00:38:45.933 --> 00:38:54.213
[DEREK]: She started out with her ring light and she had a platform which was called Trad Supe.
00:38:54.213 --> 00:38:55.933
[DEREK]: And she started that movement.
00:38:55.933 --> 00:39:03.013
[DEREK]: And then it was only when she hit on the idea of super in the streets, obedient in the sheets.
00:39:03.013 --> 00:39:08.713
[DEREK]: And once she did that, then she became the global superstar that she is now.
00:39:08.713 --> 00:39:13.693
[DEREK]: But you would assume that this is someone that is very modest.
00:39:13.693 --> 00:39:20.953
[DEREK]: But no, she once again, like with every single Supe in the vault universe, instantly shows you it's nothing to do with that.
00:39:20.953 --> 00:39:22.833
[DEREK]: That's just the brand that she lives by.
00:39:22.833 --> 00:39:28.793
[DEREK]: She says, if you just stick something up your arse, we will find out what your brand is and sell things through your brand.
00:39:28.893 --> 00:39:29.413
[DEREK]: That is it.
00:39:29.413 --> 00:39:30.273
[DEREK]: That's what I'm here for.
00:39:30.273 --> 00:39:34.213
[DEREK]: I'm here to train you to do that stuff on your brand.
00:39:34.213 --> 00:39:37.573
[DEREK]: Oh, love these characters that they have just in the background of episodes.
00:39:37.573 --> 00:39:37.793
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:39:37.793 --> 00:39:39.433
[DEREK]: Great stuff.
00:39:39.433 --> 00:39:42.213
[CHRIS]: And this this universe.
00:39:42.213 --> 00:39:46.153
[DEREK]: Oh, and finally, one last line from Emma, because again, they're my favourite characters.
00:39:46.153 --> 00:39:47.053
[DEREK]: One last line from Emma.
00:39:47.053 --> 00:39:53.793
[DEREK]: I love when they're when they're trying to work out what they should be doing after they find out the case is still alive.
00:39:53.793 --> 00:39:59.493
[DEREK]: And she goes, in the spirit of non-judgmental brainstorming, maybe we should kill her.
00:39:59.493 --> 00:40:04.073
[CHRIS]: She doesn't even say kill her, she runs her finger across her throat.
00:40:04.073 --> 00:40:07.273
[CHRIS]: And Jordan's like, you can't be entertaining this, you can't be serious.
00:40:07.273 --> 00:40:12.113
[CHRIS]: And then he says nothing and you're like, oh my God.
00:40:12.113 --> 00:40:16.713
[DEREK]: It's like, look, I know murder is really bad, but it would solve the problem for all of us.
00:40:16.713 --> 00:40:19.273
[DEREK]: Non-judgmental, it's just a brainstorm.
00:40:19.273 --> 00:40:20.113
[DEREK]: Love Emma.
00:40:20.113 --> 00:40:22.473
[CHRIS]: We're open to session, open to thinking.
00:40:22.473 --> 00:40:23.393
[DEREK]: Excellent.
00:40:23.393 --> 00:40:25.033
[DEREK]: Chris, overall, what do you think of this episode?
00:40:25.973 --> 00:40:26.933
[CHRIS]: I just love it.
00:40:27.113 --> 00:40:42.373
[CHRIS]: I continue to just so much enjoy the Boys Universe Gen V and just, Justice Never Forgets, shh, like just such a fun piece.
00:40:42.373 --> 00:40:50.393
[CHRIS]: And yeah, like for me, the standout character continues to be Emma, all these one liners with a deep storyline.
00:40:50.993 --> 00:40:57.933
[CHRIS]: And then the story itself and just what they're doing and how they're doing it.
00:40:57.933 --> 00:41:19.313
[CHRIS]: And then the writers for The Boys and then the writers for Gen V, the connections, I think they have such a way of, even though they write these episodes could be written, what, two years ago, two and a half years ago, maybe three, even like the initial scripts, drafts.
00:41:20.173 --> 00:41:25.253
[CHRIS]: Like, they have a way of just putting their finger on the pulse.
00:41:25.253 --> 00:41:25.733
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:41:25.733 --> 00:41:28.813
[CHRIS]: Now, that's just hilarious.
00:41:28.813 --> 00:41:29.493
[DEREK]: Yeah, absolutely.
00:41:29.493 --> 00:41:52.333
[CHRIS]: Like, just being able to really zero in on like the, hey fam, yeah, like that's something they probably were saying two years ago, but it's now, now such a more ubiquitous thing with, it's bled into the kind of lexicon of kind of everyone, that everyone gets that joke now.
00:41:52.333 --> 00:41:52.793
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:41:52.893 --> 00:42:04.373
[DEREK]: And while we have so much fun talking about this show, and there's so much great comedy and, you know, there's still lots of satire going on in the show, that we don't even, that doesn't even stand out to us enough sometimes.
00:42:04.373 --> 00:42:10.773
[DEREK]: You know, there's the whole scene in this episode that we didn't talk about, where Vought News, of course, is being brought into play.
00:42:10.773 --> 00:42:17.413
[DEREK]: Once again, we have Firecracker revealing that the person who took out Kate is apparently a Starlighter.
00:42:17.413 --> 00:42:21.453
[DEREK]: She reveals that they found the person responsible for Kate's attack.
00:42:21.453 --> 00:42:25.053
[DEREK]: We see Dognaught, who was chasing down Marie in the first episode.
00:42:25.053 --> 00:42:29.333
[DEREK]: We see him on screen going, well, the guy reached for a weapon or reached into his glove box.
00:42:29.333 --> 00:42:33.453
[DEREK]: I assumed it was a weapon, so therefore I was justified in executing him there.
00:42:33.493 --> 00:42:47.273
[DEREK]: Effectively, all of the campus of students are shouting F-humans because they believe that the humans and Starlighters particularly have gone against them and have killed one of their big representatives in Kate.
00:42:47.273 --> 00:42:50.133
[DEREK]: That's kind of finger on the pulse for this week at the moment, isn't it?
00:42:50.133 --> 00:42:52.133
[CHRIS]: Yeah, slightly, just slightly.
00:42:52.133 --> 00:42:52.573
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:42:52.573 --> 00:42:54.853
[DEREK]: So, you know, how would they know?
00:42:54.853 --> 00:43:01.153
[DEREK]: How do they know what day to release the episodes of Love Gen V and where exactly it's going to land?
00:43:01.173 --> 00:43:03.133
[DEREK]: But it landed does.
00:43:03.133 --> 00:43:04.033
[CHRIS]: Yes.
00:43:04.033 --> 00:43:05.773
[CHRIS]: What about yourself, Derek?
00:43:05.773 --> 00:43:07.853
[CHRIS]: What are your overall thoughts on this episode?
00:43:07.853 --> 00:43:08.693
[DEREK]: A really good episode.
00:43:08.773 --> 00:43:13.033
[DEREK]: You know, these these three came in a package, you know, obviously Bush.
00:43:13.033 --> 00:43:18.373
[DEREK]: I love watching these episodes and thinking about them and thinking about all the connections and thinking about all the characters and what's going on.
00:43:18.393 --> 00:43:22.633
[DEREK]: So there's been a lot of fun in this episode, particularly with Emma.
00:43:22.633 --> 00:43:25.593
[DEREK]: She's again, a real standout character.
00:43:25.593 --> 00:43:27.053
[DEREK]: But the story is progressing.
00:43:27.053 --> 00:43:30.113
[DEREK]: There's still, you know, this there's lots to dig into.
00:43:31.173 --> 00:43:32.653
[DEREK]: What's Dean Cipher's plan?
00:43:32.653 --> 00:43:34.193
[DEREK]: What's happening there?
00:43:34.193 --> 00:43:35.533
[DEREK]: Why is he so focused on Marie?
00:43:35.533 --> 00:43:37.973
[DEREK]: What does Marie being Odessa mean?
00:43:37.973 --> 00:43:40.013
[DEREK]: You know, what's all that about?
00:43:40.013 --> 00:43:43.613
[DEREK]: It's great to have Polaris in the school, exactly as Emma says.
00:43:43.613 --> 00:43:48.233
[DEREK]: It's kind of nice to have an adult also involved with this group.
00:43:48.233 --> 00:43:51.853
[DEREK]: It feels like they have somebody else to support them, which is quite nice.
00:43:51.853 --> 00:43:57.893
[DEREK]: And of course, you know, there is the comedy of having The Deep back and lots of other moments going on all around it.
00:43:57.993 --> 00:44:02.313
[DEREK]: So, yes, looking forward to more of the season and a really enjoyable episode this time.
00:44:02.313 --> 00:44:04.633
[CHRIS]: Yeah, no, I agree.
00:44:04.633 --> 00:44:10.373
[CHRIS]: Should we then wrap up class and head over to the Student Union?
00:44:10.373 --> 00:44:11.653
[DEREK]: Absolutely, yes.
00:44:11.653 --> 00:44:16.273
[DEREK]: Welcome back, fellow boys and girls and fellow Quizzers, as John would say.
00:44:16.273 --> 00:44:23.773
[DEREK]: We are back with our Gen V Student Bar Quiz for the second episode of Gen V Season 2 and the second question.
00:44:23.773 --> 00:44:30.113
[DEREK]: Question two is, what was the previous record at GodU for the most number of joints smote?
00:44:30.113 --> 00:44:33.293
[DEREK]: A record that Andre Anderson was trying to beat?
00:44:33.413 --> 00:44:34.633
[CHRIS]: Yes.
00:44:34.633 --> 00:44:35.353
[DEREK]: Phenomenal number.
00:44:35.353 --> 00:44:37.173
[CHRIS]: One more time there now?
00:44:38.613 --> 00:44:43.753
[DEREK]: The question once again, yes, is, what was the previous record of GodU for the most number of joints smote?
00:44:43.753 --> 00:44:46.473
[DEREK]: A record Andre was trying to beat.
00:44:46.473 --> 00:44:50.033
[DEREK]: You can get that and all the other questions over on our website at tvpodcastindustries.com.
00:44:51.253 --> 00:44:57.853
[DEREK]: At the end of the season, collect all eight answers together and e-mail them to us to be with a chance of getting your hands on some Gen V goodies.
00:44:57.853 --> 00:45:09.433
[DEREK]: As always, with our Boys Podcast, we will be doing a wrap up podcast at the end of the season, catching up on all your feedback and all your thoughts and announcing the winner of the Gen V Pub Quiz.
00:45:09.433 --> 00:45:12.733
[CHRIS]: Yes, looking forward to that.
00:45:12.733 --> 00:45:16.753
[CHRIS]: Just a reminder as well, you can support us over on patreon.com.
00:45:18.213 --> 00:45:26.373
[CHRIS]: This episode of the TV Podcast Industries podcast is brought to you by our supporters on Patreon, including Parthenia Locklear.
00:45:26.373 --> 00:45:28.213
[CHRIS]: Thank you so much Parthenia.
00:45:28.213 --> 00:45:28.633
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:45:28.633 --> 00:45:29.933
[DEREK]: Thanks Parthenia.
00:45:29.933 --> 00:45:30.693
[CHRIS]: Yes.
00:45:30.693 --> 00:45:58.393
[CHRIS]: If you want to be as amazing as Parthenia, you can support us monthly for any amount over on patreon.com/tvpodcastindustries, or if you'd like to support us with a one-off donation, you can pop on over to buymeacoffee.com/tvpi, and buy us a coffee to help our beautiful editor-in-chief toil away the wee hours of his editing as he gets these beautiful dulcet tones ready for your ears.
00:45:58.393 --> 00:45:59.733
[CHRIS]: Yes, that is Derek.
00:45:59.733 --> 00:46:02.973
[CHRIS]: You can also help get him a bit of a whiskey in the coffee.
00:46:02.973 --> 00:46:03.353
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:46:03.353 --> 00:46:05.153
[CHRIS]: Really Irish it up a bit.
00:46:05.153 --> 00:46:07.393
[DEREK]: Yeah, buymeawiskey.com.
00:46:07.393 --> 00:46:08.513
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:46:09.413 --> 00:46:10.433
[CHRIS]: We need to buy that.
00:46:10.433 --> 00:46:12.373
[CHRIS]: We need to get that registered now.
00:46:12.413 --> 00:46:13.233
[DEREK]: I'm sure it's there.
00:46:13.233 --> 00:46:15.753
[CHRIS]: It's too good of an idea.
00:46:15.753 --> 00:46:20.413
[CHRIS]: You can also support us just by subscribing to the podcast and sharing with your friends and family.
00:46:20.413 --> 00:46:24.053
[CHRIS]: Because remember, sharing the podcast is what?
00:46:24.053 --> 00:46:27.533
[DEREK]: It's sharing the love, of course.
00:46:27.533 --> 00:46:31.193
[CHRIS]: Just not like the students in GodU.
00:46:31.353 --> 00:46:31.893
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:46:31.893 --> 00:46:33.373
[CHRIS]: Please don't do that.
00:46:33.373 --> 00:46:33.553
[CHRIS]: No.
00:46:33.553 --> 00:46:35.473
[CHRIS]: Thank you.
00:46:35.473 --> 00:46:39.173
[CHRIS]: But you can also share the love by sending us feedback.
00:46:39.173 --> 00:46:39.853
[CHRIS]: Yes.
00:46:39.853 --> 00:46:49.613
[CHRIS]: Head on over to tvpodcastindustries.com and you can basically have all the links to our socials, particularly as well.
00:46:49.613 --> 00:47:03.973
[CHRIS]: You can send us a voicemail through there, or you can just send us an email at feedback at tvpodcastindustries.com like good old Coffee and Vodka did, who had an email on episode one saying this.
00:47:03.973 --> 00:47:15.573
[CHRIS]: Unless her skull follows suit, I guess it doesn't matter how Kate's arm grew back, though considering what she learned about Starlight, she had to die to keep the season from ending.
00:47:16.393 --> 00:47:19.873
[CHRIS]: A bit prematurely, but what a way to start.
00:47:19.873 --> 00:47:25.973
[CHRIS]: Going to have to give it another watch to glean the nuance from the much missed extra bloody ultraviolence.
00:47:25.973 --> 00:47:27.673
[CHRIS]: But do have a question.
00:47:27.673 --> 00:47:29.253
[CHRIS]: Was the Dr.
00:47:29.253 --> 00:47:29.553
[CHRIS]: T.
00:47:29.553 --> 00:47:34.533
[CHRIS]: Godolkin in the beginning episode the same as the current school head?
00:47:34.533 --> 00:47:39.773
[CHRIS]: Seriously, either I've got face blindness or all white guys look the same.
00:47:39.773 --> 00:47:45.413
[CHRIS]: Finally, he was said to have spent a couple years in the Vaude office in Mexico.
00:47:45.413 --> 00:47:49.853
[CHRIS]: Does that mean we will eventually get a Mexico spin-off?
00:47:49.853 --> 00:47:55.933
[CHRIS]: Five Chucknuts of Justice, dog-nuts-swerdies, and switched off Dominions out of five.
00:47:55.933 --> 00:47:58.673
[CHRIS]: Peace and take care, Coffee and Vodka.
00:47:58.673 --> 00:47:59.873
[CHRIS]: Thanks Coffee and Vodka!
00:47:59.873 --> 00:48:02.193
[CHRIS]: You don't have face blindness.
00:48:02.193 --> 00:48:08.033
[CHRIS]: I think they purposely cast Dean Cipher and Godolkin to look similar.
00:48:08.033 --> 00:48:10.613
[CHRIS]: I am working on the assumption of father and son.
00:48:12.193 --> 00:48:14.013
[CHRIS]: Some form of connection there.
00:48:14.013 --> 00:48:24.613
[CHRIS]: Just based on Godolkin being the age he was in the flashback and the age of Dean Cipher.
00:48:24.613 --> 00:48:34.533
[CHRIS]: I am working on the connection of father and son, but maybe there is a more vaudebleu reasoning to it.
00:48:34.593 --> 00:48:40.473
[CHRIS]: Like he's Benjamin Buttoning backwards something, or his face is like Clayface.
00:48:41.893 --> 00:48:44.033
[DEREK]: There's some kind of super power there, maybe.
00:48:44.033 --> 00:48:52.713
[CHRIS]: There's definitely something weird happening when we look at the food he was, the smoothie he was making for lunch in episode one.
00:48:52.713 --> 00:48:53.713
[DEREK]: Cheat day.
00:48:53.713 --> 00:48:54.613
[DEREK]: Yep.
00:48:54.613 --> 00:48:58.453
[CHRIS]: With peanut butter and a chicken leg.
00:48:58.453 --> 00:49:00.093
[CHRIS]: Peanut butter chicken.
00:49:00.093 --> 00:49:01.693
[DEREK]: It's gorgeous, Chris.
00:49:01.693 --> 00:49:02.753
[CHRIS]: I'm sure.
00:49:02.753 --> 00:49:03.473
[DEREK]: You love peanuts.
00:49:03.753 --> 00:49:04.713
[DEREK]: You love butter.
00:49:04.713 --> 00:49:05.693
[DEREK]: You love chicken.
00:49:05.693 --> 00:49:08.013
[DEREK]: What's not to love?
00:49:08.013 --> 00:49:10.533
[CHRIS]: All of the above.
00:49:10.533 --> 00:49:11.093
[DEREK]: I like it.
00:49:11.093 --> 00:49:11.873
[DEREK]: Blended together.
00:49:11.873 --> 00:49:13.833
[DEREK]: Maybe, maybe not.
00:49:14.093 --> 00:49:15.533
[DEREK]: That's a really good point though.
00:49:15.533 --> 00:49:19.953
[DEREK]: But yes, definitely there is a focus on the badge of Thomas Godolkin.
00:49:19.953 --> 00:49:22.333
[DEREK]: He does look different than Hamish Linklater.
00:49:22.333 --> 00:49:27.113
[DEREK]: He plays the role of the Dean of Students here.
00:49:27.173 --> 00:49:30.653
[DEREK]: But entirely possible to some kind of shape-shifting going on.
00:49:30.653 --> 00:49:33.733
[DEREK]: And he could be connected to him, definitely.
00:49:33.733 --> 00:49:39.153
[DEREK]: You did also hit on something there, Coffee and Vodka, as you are well known to do.
00:49:39.153 --> 00:49:43.013
[DEREK]: That they mentioned that he spent a couple of years in the vault offices in Mexico.
00:49:43.013 --> 00:49:46.993
[DEREK]: It has been confirmed there is The Boys Mexico is coming in the future.
00:49:46.993 --> 00:49:51.953
[DEREK]: A Spanish language show, which is in pre-production right now, was announced a couple of years ago that that's coming.
00:49:51.953 --> 00:49:53.193
[DEREK]: So it's in pre-production.
00:49:53.193 --> 00:49:55.493
[DEREK]: It's expected to land in the next couple of years.
00:49:56.193 --> 00:50:05.353
[DEREK]: After Rising, which is the name of the prequel series that Chris was talking about before, which will star a soldier boy, which I think is coming very soon, actually.
00:50:05.593 --> 00:50:06.653
[DEREK]: It's almost finished.
00:50:06.653 --> 00:50:07.913
[DEREK]: I think it is finished filming.
00:50:07.913 --> 00:50:09.153
[DEREK]: So it's coming very soon.
00:50:09.153 --> 00:50:13.353
[DEREK]: And we may see that even before it gets to the final season of The Boys.
00:50:13.353 --> 00:50:14.633
[CHRIS]: Oh, that would be cool.
00:50:14.633 --> 00:50:15.073
[DEREK]: Never know.
00:50:15.073 --> 00:50:15.593
[DEREK]: Never know.
00:50:15.593 --> 00:50:16.793
[CHRIS]: Never know.
00:50:16.793 --> 00:50:17.313
[DEREK]: Brilliant stuff.
00:50:17.313 --> 00:50:20.493
[DEREK]: Thanks so much, as always, for your thoughts, Coffee and Vodka.
00:50:20.553 --> 00:50:27.133
[DEREK]: Over on our Facebook group on Episode 1, Mindy Megan says, Absolutely brilliant shot of Jordan changing face in the beginning of the episode.
00:50:27.133 --> 00:50:35.233
[DEREK]: Even though Kate is awful, I love a sensitive touch person who wears gloves like Theon haunting of Hill House or Sip in Mayfair Witches.
00:50:35.233 --> 00:50:37.733
[DEREK]: And her opening look was so good.
00:50:37.733 --> 00:50:41.913
[DEREK]: As always, it looks like this season will poke at the necessary evils of American politics.
00:50:41.913 --> 00:50:45.013
[DEREK]: Also, the addition of Hamish Linklater is amazing.
00:50:45.013 --> 00:50:48.613
[DEREK]: I can't look away from him no matter how bad he gets and no matter what he does.
00:50:49.113 --> 00:50:52.853
[DEREK]: Looking forward to seeing how the season leads us to the finale of The Boys.
00:50:52.853 --> 00:50:54.413
[DEREK]: Thanks so much, Mindy.
00:50:54.413 --> 00:50:54.713
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:50:54.713 --> 00:50:55.793
[CHRIS]: Thanks, Mindy.
00:50:55.793 --> 00:50:56.033
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:50:56.033 --> 00:50:58.253
[CHRIS]: Hamish.
00:50:58.253 --> 00:51:01.773
[CHRIS]: The best thing I probably can describe him is that he's a scene-chewer.
00:51:01.773 --> 00:51:01.973
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:51:01.973 --> 00:51:02.733
[DEREK]: Oh, absolutely.
00:51:02.733 --> 00:51:06.353
[CHRIS]: I mean that in the best way, best possible way.
00:51:06.353 --> 00:51:10.453
[CHRIS]: He did it in Midnight Mass.
00:51:10.453 --> 00:51:11.673
[CHRIS]: He does it in this.
00:51:11.953 --> 00:51:12.933
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:51:12.933 --> 00:51:19.153
[CHRIS]: Your eyes, your ears, your attention is just pulled towards this man.
00:51:19.153 --> 00:51:20.093
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:51:20.093 --> 00:51:22.713
[CHRIS]: He definitely knows what to do with it.
00:51:22.713 --> 00:51:23.313
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:51:23.313 --> 00:51:23.673
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
00:51:23.673 --> 00:51:24.273
[DEREK]: He's one of the best.
00:51:24.973 --> 00:51:31.673
[DEREK]: We're covering Alien Earth at the moment as well, and we have another one of those over there, Timothy Oliphant, who's the human that's pulling all the attention.
00:51:31.773 --> 00:51:34.133
[DEREK]: So that's the actor that's pulling all the attention.
00:51:34.133 --> 00:51:39.073
[DEREK]: There's definitely one of the creatures that's pulling everybody's attention away from everything as well over there.
00:51:39.073 --> 00:51:40.253
[DEREK]: So great fun.
00:51:40.253 --> 00:51:41.393
[DEREK]: Go watch Alien Earth if you like.
00:51:41.613 --> 00:51:43.193
[DEREK]: If you like the Alien stuff.
00:51:43.193 --> 00:51:45.793
[DEREK]: Thanks so much for your feedback, Mindy, as well.
00:51:45.793 --> 00:51:49.933
[DEREK]: Finally, we got an email in on Episode 2 from Coffee and Vodka.
00:51:49.933 --> 00:51:56.573
[DEREK]: As we mentioned, all three episodes drop in this week, so we will expect that we'll get some more feedback in Episode 2 and 3 for the next podcast.
00:51:56.573 --> 00:51:59.693
[DEREK]: But Chris, Coffee and Vodka's thoughts on Episode 2.
00:51:59.693 --> 00:52:00.433
[CHRIS]: Yes.
00:52:00.433 --> 00:52:03.853
[CHRIS]: Greetings, fellow prescient defenders.
00:52:03.853 --> 00:52:08.313
[CHRIS]: How not to get political when writing about anything in the boys' universe.
00:52:08.893 --> 00:52:25.093
[CHRIS]: Keeping it quick, the parallels between fictional Kate and real-world Charlie and other aspects of the current socio-political landscapes are undeniable, the most blatant of which is both show and reality being the attempted chokehold of both medium and message.
00:52:25.093 --> 00:52:32.353
[CHRIS]: Okay, maybe not so quick, but a fictional hellscape is much easier to digest, break down and be darkly entertained by.
00:52:32.353 --> 00:52:36.633
[CHRIS]: Between this and Alien Earth, I'm swiftly being drawn to the dystopian side.
00:52:37.493 --> 00:52:44.053
[CHRIS]: So, Kate not dead and is sporting a very realistic looking prosthetic and a cranial healing factor.
00:52:44.053 --> 00:52:48.573
[CHRIS]: Emma's either got better control of her powers or can activate them.
00:52:48.573 --> 00:52:50.233
[CHRIS]: Bit happy pills.
00:52:50.233 --> 00:52:59.733
[CHRIS]: Sam may be redeemable if out of Kate's influence long enough, Marie and Jordan are back in action and Odessa, it turns out, is Marie herself.
00:52:59.733 --> 00:53:05.433
[CHRIS]: This last bit seems somewhat off kilter considering the white supremacist roots of Odessa, but we'll see.
00:53:05.433 --> 00:53:07.113
[CHRIS]: So far, so addicted.
00:53:07.113 --> 00:53:12.993
[CHRIS]: Five tricky TikToks, stab staffers, and creepy deep cameos out of five.
00:53:12.993 --> 00:53:15.833
[CHRIS]: Peace and take care, coffee and vodka.
00:53:15.833 --> 00:53:17.873
[CHRIS]: Welcome to the dystopian side, coffee and vodka.
00:53:17.873 --> 00:53:18.893
[CHRIS]: It is fun here.
00:53:19.393 --> 00:53:21.013
[CHRIS]: We have donuts.
00:53:21.013 --> 00:53:24.413
[CHRIS]: They're not great donuts because it's dystopian future.
00:53:24.413 --> 00:53:29.413
[CHRIS]: They're all vegan, but it's fun.
00:53:29.413 --> 00:53:32.973
[CHRIS]: Another great dystopian side is obviously Fallout.
00:53:33.893 --> 00:53:35.193
[CHRIS]: We have fun things here.
00:53:35.193 --> 00:53:37.593
[CHRIS]: It is not a bad place.
00:53:37.593 --> 00:53:39.293
[DEREK]: Well, if you're talking about the TV show, definitely.
00:53:39.293 --> 00:53:40.073
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:53:40.073 --> 00:53:41.013
[CHRIS]: And the video game.
00:53:41.013 --> 00:53:42.053
[CHRIS]: Video game was great.
00:53:42.053 --> 00:53:42.733
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:53:42.873 --> 00:53:45.073
[DEREK]: I don't know whether I can play through dystopian.
00:53:45.893 --> 00:53:47.173
[DEREK]: Maybe that's a me thing.
00:53:47.173 --> 00:53:49.493
[CHRIS]: Yeah, that's definitely a you thing.
00:53:50.673 --> 00:53:50.853
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:53:50.853 --> 00:53:55.013
[DEREK]: But I do see what you're thinking, coffee and vodka.
00:53:55.013 --> 00:53:58.713
[DEREK]: I'd love a Miss Marvel season two to roll along right now.
00:53:58.713 --> 00:54:00.753
[DEREK]: I need something really upbeat.
00:54:00.753 --> 00:54:02.553
[DEREK]: Emma's keeping me upbeat.
00:54:03.233 --> 00:54:05.473
[DEREK]: Throughout the scenes of the show itself.
00:54:05.833 --> 00:54:20.473
[DEREK]: And as I said, fake Marie and Stacey, the bee-like pure lady, they're all keeping me at least smiling through some of the darkness and dystopian nature of these shows.
00:54:20.473 --> 00:54:26.753
[DEREK]: But I would love to have something a bit more relaxing to watch.
00:54:26.753 --> 00:54:28.133
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
00:54:28.133 --> 00:54:28.833
[CHRIS]: We're going to need it.
00:54:28.833 --> 00:54:30.093
[CHRIS]: That's why I play video games.
00:54:30.093 --> 00:54:31.353
[CHRIS]: Lots and lots of video games.
00:54:31.413 --> 00:54:32.453
[FIRECRACKER]: Right.
00:54:32.453 --> 00:54:35.693
[CHRIS]: But thank you so much, CoffeeNVodka, and thank you everyone for your feedback.
00:54:35.693 --> 00:54:44.473
[CHRIS]: Don't forget, if you want to get your thoughts and opinions out on our podcast, you can send it to feedbackatvpodcastindustries.com.
00:54:46.613 --> 00:54:55.233
[CHRIS]: And while you're at it, why not pop on over to Apple Podcasts or Spotify Podcast Feeds, or just head on over to tvpodcastindustries.com.
00:54:55.233 --> 00:54:57.793
[CHRIS]: And you can write us a review.
00:54:57.793 --> 00:55:00.733
[CHRIS]: Tell your friends why you love this show.
00:55:01.273 --> 00:55:10.453
[CHRIS]: And share the love by sharing the podcast, because the more ears that hear us, the more my ego grows.
00:55:10.493 --> 00:55:12.793
[CHRIS]: Has so much farther to grow.
00:55:12.793 --> 00:55:15.013
[DEREK]: That's not an encouragement, Chris.
00:55:15.013 --> 00:55:15.933
[CHRIS]: I know, but it's good.
00:55:15.933 --> 00:55:17.693
[CHRIS]: It's encouragement for me.
00:55:17.693 --> 00:55:23.193
[DEREK]: But thanks so much for listening to us for our chat, all about the second episode of season two of The Boys Gen V.
00:55:23.193 --> 00:55:28.313
[DEREK]: We'll be back next time with our chat about H Is For Human, the third episode.
00:55:28.313 --> 00:55:29.573
[DEREK]: Looking forward to chatting about that with Chris.
00:55:30.453 --> 00:55:35.013
[CHRIS]: Yes, keep watching, keep listening and keep fighting the good fight.
00:55:35.013 --> 00:55:35.813
[CHRIS]: See you next time.
00:55:35.813 --> 00:55:35.993
[DEREK]: Bye.
00:56:03.053 --> 00:56:06.273
[CHRIS]: All together now, Justice Never Forgets.
00:56:06.273 --> 00:56:08.213
[CHRIS]: Shh.
00:56:08.213 --> 00:56:09.393
[CHRIS]: God damn it.
00:56:09.393 --> 00:56:12.533
[CHRIS]: All together now, Justice Never Forgets.
00:56:12.533 --> 00:56:13.773
[DEREK]: So you did it to me now.
00:56:13.773 --> 00:56:15.773
[DEREK]: I just looked at the line.
00:56:17.313 --> 00:56:22.573
[CHRIS]: All together now, Justice Never Sleeps.
00:56:22.573 --> 00:56:24.513
[DEREK]: Justice Never Sleeps.
00:56:25.913 --> 00:56:26.893
[DEREK]: I'll put those together.
00:56:26.893 --> 00:56:27.393
[DEREK]: That's fine.
00:56:27.393 --> 00:56:27.793
[CHRIS]: Okay.
00:56:27.833 --> 00:56:28.213
[DEREK]: Yeah.
00:56:28.893 --> 00:56:31.113
[CHRIS]: Is it Justice Never Sleeps or Justice Never Remember?
00:56:31.113 --> 00:56:32.093
[DEREK]: Justice Never Forgets.
00:56:32.093 --> 00:56:33.553
[DEREK]: That's the name of the episode.
00:56:33.553 --> 00:56:34.813
[DEREK]: So Justice Never Forgets.
00:56:36.553 --> 00:56:37.493
[CHRIS]: That's how bad I am.
00:56:37.493 --> 00:56:38.753
[DEREK]: There you go.
00:56:40.013 --> 00:56:42.013
[DEREK]: So do you want me to do it one last time?
00:56:42.013 --> 00:56:42.873
[CHRIS]: We might as well.
00:56:42.873 --> 00:56:44.313
[CHRIS]: Just because it's so bad.
00:56:44.313 --> 00:56:44.513
[DEREK]: Okay.
00:56:44.513 --> 00:56:45.753
[DEREK]: So it's Justice Never Forgets.
00:56:45.793 --> 00:56:46.693
[DEREK]: And then you say it.
00:56:47.753 --> 00:56:48.933
[DEREK]: And I'll do the thing.
00:56:48.933 --> 00:56:50.793
[FIRECRACKER]: Okay.
00:56:50.793 --> 00:56:55.013
[CHRIS]: All together now, Justice Never Remembers.
00:56:55.013 --> 00:56:56.053
[CHRIS]: Nope.
00:56:56.053 --> 00:57:00.113
[CHRIS]: All together now, Justice Never Forgets.
00:57:00.113 --> 00:57:02.853
[FIRECRACKER]: Shh.
00:57:02.853 --> 00:57:04.713
[DEREK]: Justice Never Forgets.
00:57:04.753 --> 00:57:05.953
[DEREK]: Shh.
00:57:05.953 --> 00:57:07.613
[DEREK]: There you go.
00:57:07.613 --> 00:57:10.133
[DEREK]: I love when you respond this way.
00:57:10.173 --> 00:57:12.233
[CHRIS]: Just how many times?
00:57:12.233 --> 00:57:13.473
[CHRIS]: How many versions?
00:57:13.473 --> 00:57:14.693
[CHRIS]: Like giving you different edits.
00:57:14.693 --> 00:57:14.933
[CHRIS]: That's all.
00:57:14.933 --> 00:57:15.593
[DEREK]: Exactly.
