Eyes of Wakanda Episode 4 "The Last Panther" Details
Executive Producer: Ryan Coogler
Series helmed by: Todd Harris
Episode Written by: Geoffrey Thorne
Episode Directed by: Todd Harris
Spoiler Filled Synopsis: In Ethiopia, in the middle of a raging battle between the Ethiopians and the invading Italian army, Prince Tafari and the War Dog Kuda recover the Wakandan axe made from Vibranium that was lost to the sea when Noni battled The Lion.
On the return to Wakanda with the artifact, an unknown high-tech entity phases in front of the vehicle driven by Kuda. While initially perceived as a threat they discover the entity is in fact a future Wakandan Queen who has teleported to their time to save Wakanda and the earth from an invading alien army called The Horde.
The Queen informs them that the dire situation confronting her time is because Wakanda never integrated into the wider world and so The Horde picked off humankind followed by Wakanda. This resulted from a hinge point created by Killmonger who, ultimately through his intervention to secure and lose the Wakandan throne, convinced the true heir, King T’Challa, to engage with the outside world.
Armed with this information and convinced she is telling the truth, Prince Tafari and Kuda head back to the City of Adwa to return the axe and so set up the chain of events leading to its theft (or repatriation) by Killmonger from the British Museum.
In explaining their actions to the Wakandan Council, Prince Tafari’s only regret is that he wishes he could have seen the future that he and Kuda fought for!

00:00 --> 00:08 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the Defenders podcast on TV, podcast industries, and we're talking about Eyes of Wakanda Episode IV, The Last Panther.
00:09 --> 00:13 [SPEAKER_01]: We were outfitted for infiltration, not conflict, certainly not at this level.
00:14 --> 00:15 [SPEAKER_01]: We must abort the mission for now.
00:15 --> 00:15 [SPEAKER_00]: What?
00:16 --> 00:17 [SPEAKER_00]: What about the artifact?
00:18 --> 00:20 [SPEAKER_01]: A war dog's mission is greater than one artifact.
00:21 --> 00:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes that means mitigating any number of dangers to the kingdom.
00:24 --> 00:28 [SPEAKER_00]: You are not suggesting I return home from my first mission empty-handed.
00:31 --> 00:33 [SPEAKER_00]: We need to move out now while we still can.
00:34 --> 00:39 [SPEAKER_00]: Our history does not chronicle the stories of those who just set back and watched Kuda.
00:40 --> 00:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Our time is now.
00:58 --> 01:10 [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome back fellow defenders, welcome to the defenders podcast on TV podcast industries where we are on to episode four of Eyes of Wakanda, the last Panther.
01:11 --> 01:12 [SPEAKER_03]: I am one of your host John.
01:13 --> 01:15 [SPEAKER_03]: Hey there, fellow time-traveling panthers.
01:15 --> 01:16 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm one of your other hosts, Derek.
01:17 --> 01:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
01:19 --> 01:26 [SPEAKER_03]: If only we could go back and time travel, or the Caroline of Panthers could try and travel and actually win something.
01:26 --> 01:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we've got to the Super Bowl, so it's easy to go back.
01:29 --> 01:31 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm traveling back, even that team together, bring them forward.
01:31 --> 01:33 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that might be a way to do it.
01:34 --> 01:35 [SPEAKER_02]: It would be very good for me.
01:35 --> 01:36 [SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think that's going to happen.
01:37 --> 01:40 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the Panthers are going to get into a Super Bowl for a very long time, unfortunately.
01:41 --> 01:41 [SPEAKER_02]: I know.
01:42 --> 01:45 [SPEAKER_02]: But hey, look, that's America football.
01:45 --> 01:48 [SPEAKER_02]: We're here to talk about the final episode of Eyes of Wakanda.
01:49 --> 01:59 [SPEAKER_02]: And this really caps it that it's not an anthology series like we originally thought it was just going to jump in, tell us story the war dogs and move on with no impact.
01:59 --> 02:03 [SPEAKER_02]: But I like that this is the bow on it all and ties everything together really.
02:03 --> 02:06 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, well that's I'd say it's the second book end.
02:06 --> 02:06 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
02:08 --> 02:19 [SPEAKER_03]: bookends it quite nicely with the first episode here and links into the Black Panther film with Kilmonger and the artefact that he takes
02:24 --> 02:27 [SPEAKER_03]: and all repatriates from the Prishish Museum.
02:27 --> 02:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
02:28 --> 02:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
02:28 --> 02:31 [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk all about it in our spoiler field chat.
02:31 --> 02:39 [SPEAKER_02]: But if you haven't subscribed to the podcast as this is the last episode of IAZO Proconda, make sure you subscribe to the podcast over on TV podcast industry.com.
02:40 --> 02:55 [SPEAKER_02]: where you'll see almost a thousand episodes of podcasts about loads and loads of TV shows and movies that you may love things like of course Black Panther will kind of forever Ironhars loads of stuff connected to this show and loads of stuff connected to the MCU and loads of other shows as well
02:56 --> 02:59 [SPEAKER_02]: In fact, this month, we're covering the Sandman and Netflix.
02:59 --> 03:03 [SPEAKER_02]: We're also going to be covering Alien Earth, which is coming up on FX as well.
03:03 --> 03:06 [SPEAKER_02]: So lots of cool shows just in August.

03:30 --> 03:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, yes, spoiler post up there for every episode of every show that we're going to actually indeed there is and but speaking of spoilers let us get into our spoiler filled discussion of episode four of eyes of Wakanda the last Panther Derek who
03:49 --> 03:51 [SPEAKER_03]: is involved and one of the episode details.
04:08 --> 04:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Elmer for this show is Todd Harris who directed this episode and once again this episode like the first one is written by Jeffrey Thorne John do you want to tell us what they gave us with the finale of Eyes of Wakanda episode four the last panther
04:23 --> 04:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Sure, in Ethiopia, in eighteen ninety six, in the middle of a raging battle between the Ethiopians and the invading Italian army, Prince Daphari, and the war dog Cuda recovered the Wakandan X, made from vibranium that was lost to the sea when nodding battled the lion.
04:42 --> 04:50 [SPEAKER_03]: On the return to Wakanda, with the artifact, an unknown high-tech entity phases in front of the vehicle driven by Cuda.
04:50 --> 05:03 [SPEAKER_03]: While initially perceived as a threat, they discover the entity is in fact a future Wakanda and Queen, who has teleported to their time to save Wakanda and the Earth from an invading alien army called the Horde.
05:04 --> 05:15 [SPEAKER_03]: The Queen informs them that the dire situation confronting her time is because Wakanda never integrated into the wider world, and so the Horde picked off humankind followed by Wakanda.
05:16 --> 05:30 [SPEAKER_03]: This resulted from a hinge point created by Kilmonger, who ultimately threw his intervention to secure and lose the Wakandan throne, convinced the true air king to Chala to engage with the outside world.
05:31 --> 05:34 [SPEAKER_03]: On with this information and convinced she is telling the truth,
05:34 --> 05:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Prince Tafari anchored a head back to the city of Adwa to return the axe, and so set up the chain of events, leading to its repatriation by Kilmonga from the British Museum.
05:47 --> 05:56 [SPEAKER_03]: In explaining their actions to the Wakandan Council, Prince Tafari's only regret is that he wishes he could have seen the future that he and Kudah fought for.
05:58 --> 06:01 [SPEAKER_02]: Who with a little body cup adventure?
06:02 --> 06:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
06:04 --> 06:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Definitely.
06:05 --> 06:08 [SPEAKER_02]: I put it in that kind of vein.
06:08 --> 06:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
06:09 --> 06:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Just feel like that.
06:10 --> 06:13 [SPEAKER_02]: But what an interesting way to tie this up.
06:13 --> 06:17 [SPEAKER_02]: The real focus of the series has been a base that kind of
06:18 --> 06:23 [SPEAKER_02]: idea that could Wakanda not have done some form of outreach to the world.
06:24 --> 06:37 [SPEAKER_02]: By keeping themselves behind this hidden world, creating this hidden society, keeping back all of the things that they have available to them, the rest of the world is having significant issues that could have been helped by Wakanda.
06:38 --> 06:43 [SPEAKER_02]: And bigger still, it will lead to the end of the world because they have been so insular about
06:44 --> 06:47 [SPEAKER_02]: the idea of giving help to the rest of the world.
06:47 --> 07:00 [SPEAKER_03]: So even when an invading alien army was sort of wiping out different people in different parts of the world that they held back and stayed behind their force field.
07:00 --> 07:02 [SPEAKER_03]: But it wasn't enough.
07:02 --> 07:04 [SPEAKER_03]: They the hard knew that they were there.
07:04 --> 07:07 [SPEAKER_03]: And then once they had dispatched
07:08 --> 07:24 [SPEAKER_03]: the rest of humanity came after Wakanda and by that time all their tech wasn't enough to save them because they didn't have the numbers effectively and that they were down to the Queen of Wakanda and some of her
07:25 --> 07:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Last remaining door in a large exact.
07:27 --> 07:38 [SPEAKER_03]: So like I mean this was a really interesting sort of flip and to just connect it in with the black Panther in any case And I directed back to the first episode of the show.
07:38 --> 07:41 [SPEAKER_02]: We talked about this mobsis about you know the the
07:41 --> 07:47 [SPEAKER_02]: specific item, the axe that fell from the hands of the lion and fell into the sea after the explosion.
07:48 --> 07:52 [SPEAKER_02]: That is the axe that eventually winds up in killed Munger's hands, that's really cool.
07:53 --> 08:00 [SPEAKER_02]: And I mentioned back at the first episode that you know, by creating this series, they actually have an explanation for some of those Wakanda items and some of those some of the
08:01 --> 08:13 [SPEAKER_02]: The librarian that's been famed across the world in that first Black Panther movie, Ulysses Tlaw, is the character that's helping out Kilmonger and there's a mention that he has some more condon items in his possession as well.
08:13 --> 08:20 [SPEAKER_02]: So again, he could have been finding some of the items in the world, but again, it wasn't enough for him to take on Wakanda.
08:20 --> 08:22 [SPEAKER_02]: But here we have this item, this axe.
08:22 --> 08:25 [SPEAKER_02]: being a really important item to the future.
08:25 --> 08:26 [SPEAKER_02]: But let's talk about the episode itself.
08:26 --> 08:30 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about what they give us here with Kuda and Prince Defarrey.
08:30 --> 08:31 [SPEAKER_02]: I'd like these two characters.
08:31 --> 08:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think this was really good part of the episode for me was just sort of how they played off on an author.
08:40 --> 08:48 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, you have Defarrey disappearing, Kuda's orders by actually recovering the acts after fact, really
08:50 --> 09:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Quickly, you know, he's in training, as you say, this kind of buddy cop is a war dog in training because he's third in line to the throne.
09:00 --> 09:09 [SPEAKER_03]: He wants to make a mark on history and interestingly that even though he does
09:10 --> 09:16 [SPEAKER_03]: He will never be known because they can't tell stories about this.
09:16 --> 09:20 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the mission in the end that they decide.
09:20 --> 09:29 [SPEAKER_03]: But he does take the lead ultimately, as he says, when in front of the Wakandan Council, he pulled rank on coup to say, well, I'm the prince.
09:30 --> 09:31 [SPEAKER_03]: I might be third in line.
09:32 --> 09:33 [SPEAKER_03]: But I'm pulling rank.
09:33 --> 09:39 [SPEAKER_03]: We're taking this back to put it exactly where we found it so that
09:40 --> 09:46 [SPEAKER_03]: it will ultimately be recovered and end up in the British Museum.
09:46 --> 09:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly, and I think that's what I really like about the writing for this episode, particularly, you know, all of the things that you start at the episode
09:55 --> 10:10 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you think, oh, here's the young prince who's being guided by the old war dog and the old war dog has to put up with the young prince being really cocky and self assured and thinking that he can get away with anything and then by the end of the episode, the prince is actually using all of that to his advantage.
10:12 --> 10:24 [SPEAKER_02]: What he's actually done to save the world, he's hiding that behind him being the cocky prince who pulled rank on the senior officer, and also the three at the episode that whole conversation he wants to leave his mark in the world.
10:24 --> 10:32 [SPEAKER_02]: But he can't leave his mark in the world because of this specific choice to this that he's given, he regrets that he won't ever find out what the future will be.
10:32 --> 10:38 [SPEAKER_02]: But he's learned that it's not as important the mark you leave on the world, it's actually what you do that can change and help the world.
10:38 --> 10:39 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it is important.
10:39 --> 10:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Love that.
10:40 --> 10:40 [SPEAKER_02]: It's really good.
10:40 --> 10:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
10:42 --> 10:45 [SPEAKER_03]: And it takes on board code as teachings.
10:46 --> 10:47 [SPEAKER_03]: It's really good.
10:47 --> 10:53 [SPEAKER_03]: And I also like the fact that initially when the queen is introduced, you know, it is
10:55 --> 10:56 [SPEAKER_03]: comes across as a threat.
10:56 --> 10:57 [SPEAKER_02]: You know, there was a fight.
10:57 --> 10:59 [SPEAKER_02]: I was definitely getting predator vibes.
10:59 --> 11:00 [SPEAKER_02]: Definitely.
11:00 --> 11:07 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I really felt it that from the suit itself to the noises she's making when she's when she's stalking the two of them here.
11:07 --> 11:12 [SPEAKER_03]: And indeed, I think the pathway that then the story goes down is actually just a surprise.
11:13 --> 11:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
11:13 --> 11:18 [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't think it was going to connect in with the first Black Panther movie like it did.
11:18 --> 11:20 [SPEAKER_03]: And I like that connection.
11:20 --> 11:21 [SPEAKER_03]: It just did it well.
11:21 --> 11:27 [SPEAKER_03]: As you say, you know, connecting to that, connects back to episode one of this series.
11:27 --> 11:33 [SPEAKER_03]: And in and of itself is a nice little surprise bundle as to what we get here.
11:34 --> 11:36 [SPEAKER_03]: And so that was really good.
11:36 --> 11:40 [SPEAKER_03]: I even got, I think, with the, the hoard.
11:40 --> 11:42 [SPEAKER_03]: I got Starship Trooper.
11:42 --> 11:48 [SPEAKER_03]: kind of vibes, you know, insects taking over the world.
11:48 --> 12:01 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, the one that hurt our Marvel characters, the times, at the same time, I think I've ever encountered them around in video games based on Marvel, where you need to fight off loads of different enemies at the same time, they just set it at the horror, because that's easy for everybody to deal with.
12:02 --> 12:04 [SPEAKER_02]: That's where I think I see them, not necessarily comics.
12:05 --> 12:12 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I mean, I think ultimately, you know, this provides that counterpoint to the previous three episodes.
12:12 --> 12:31 [SPEAKER_03]: This notion that actually, you know, and it's kind of evolved into this, you know, in a sense, the previous episodes, episode three, Lost and Found, it was almost like, well, should we not leave that with them in the end, they don't, because the iron fist plucks the tongue out of the dragons head.
12:31 --> 12:31 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
12:31 --> 12:38 [SPEAKER_03]: was this one is that there is merit in leaving it out there until the time is right.
12:38 --> 12:49 [SPEAKER_03]: And so you know, I like how in a sense this millennial old mission to recover what the lion stole and sort of let
12:49 --> 12:57 [SPEAKER_03]: sort of the wind take into the world is gradually evolving over time and through this series.
12:57 --> 13:07 [SPEAKER_03]: So I thought that was a nice little point to this episode and that's why I think in the end the connection back to Kilmonger was quite a nice little surprise.
13:08 --> 13:14 [SPEAKER_03]: because I don't think I necessarily certainly not in episode one.
13:14 --> 13:23 [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't recognize the weapon that the line used against non-e, even with her snapping it in half as being that axe from the movie.
13:23 --> 13:24 [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
13:24 --> 13:29 [SPEAKER_03]: I think it became a bit more obvious here and certainly when they said, it doesn't even have the right hand.
13:29 --> 13:29 [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
13:30 --> 13:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's quite similar to what
13:33 --> 13:45 [SPEAKER_02]: Kilmogger says when he's in the British regime, seeing the item for the first time, the person that's guiding him to the item incorrectly dated, and he says, no, no, I know exactly where this is for all the factively.
13:45 --> 13:49 [SPEAKER_02]: So we have a little touch of that here with the prints.
13:49 --> 14:00 [SPEAKER_02]: I also like the queen going kind of back through time and back through all the artifacts that we've seen over the last couple of episodes trying to find that hinge point, trying to find that moment throughout time that
14:03 --> 14:07 [SPEAKER_02]: needs to absolutely happen so that they can defeat the horror in the future.
14:07 --> 14:11 [SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a cool way of using that time travel.
14:11 --> 14:16 [SPEAKER_02]: What is that point that will allow us to be this oncoming for?
14:16 --> 14:17 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
14:17 --> 14:20 [SPEAKER_02]: It's not just about taking the axe and giving it out into the world of somebody else.
14:20 --> 14:28 [SPEAKER_02]: It's about being in the hands specifically all very killmonger who will inspire the future king of Wakanda to
14:28 --> 14:30 [SPEAKER_02]: have the outreach program to the world.
14:30 --> 14:32 [SPEAKER_02]: That in itself is the big hinge point.
14:33 --> 14:34 [SPEAKER_02]: It's not just about the ice from itself.
14:34 --> 14:38 [SPEAKER_02]: It's about every single piece of that connecting together the way it should.
14:39 --> 14:39 [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
14:39 --> 14:43 [SPEAKER_03]: There's also a nice I think it's kind of an effect in sequence.
14:44 --> 14:49 [SPEAKER_03]: The episode doesn't go back to the queen from the future.
14:49 --> 15:08 [SPEAKER_03]: All we see is we have this nice sequence where it kind of cuts between CUDA and Tafari taking the axe back and CUDA being injured under rubble from one of the artillery shells in this battle of the city of Adwar in Ethiopia.
15:09 --> 15:17 [SPEAKER_03]: ultimately saved by Safari after he manages to get the axe back into its hiding place.
15:17 --> 15:31 [SPEAKER_03]: But you have that interest with the Queen and the Dermalarshi sort of protecting and defending the portal so that actually the Horde don't go through that and start attacking in this time and
15:32 --> 15:36 [SPEAKER_03]: you see the dormology being taken out and the queen being injured.
15:37 --> 15:47 [SPEAKER_03]: But it's quite tense where the final thing that we really see of this queen, the last panther, is
15:49 --> 16:06 [SPEAKER_03]: the insect legs of the horse going towards there and then it switches and then we don't see it again and that's kind of interesting and even with to far as I say I wish I could see this future we fought for or know how long it takes to come to pass.
16:08 --> 16:15 [SPEAKER_03]: Now, we know it happens because we see then it cuts to kill longer and that ending, which I thought was very cool.
16:16 --> 16:16 [SPEAKER_03]: It was, it was.
16:16 --> 16:23 [SPEAKER_03]: So, but you assume it's all honky-dory, but not on the less.
16:24 --> 16:26 [SPEAKER_03]: You kind of still feel
16:27 --> 16:30 [SPEAKER_03]: What, you know, has the Queen gotten out of this live?
16:30 --> 16:42 [SPEAKER_03]: This is, you know, necessarily it may reset humanity, Wakandan's survived, but maybe the individuals, you know, are impacted by this.
16:42 --> 16:43 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
16:43 --> 16:44 [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
16:44 --> 16:50 [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, like, I will say, you know, it is a very tense scene, but there are a couple little elements that you've missed with the Queen.
16:50 --> 16:52 [SPEAKER_02]: We do hear her shading Wakanda forever.
16:52 --> 16:53 [SPEAKER_02]: That's her final words that we hear on screen.
16:53 --> 16:54 [SPEAKER_02]: She's sharing that.
16:55 --> 16:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Um, as it's cutting between both sides.
16:58 --> 16:59 [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, that's true.
16:59 --> 17:04 [SPEAKER_02]: The Horde do get very close to her because they put one of the, one of their massive legs through her legs.
17:04 --> 17:06 [SPEAKER_02]: So one of their pinsters through her legs.
17:06 --> 17:17 [SPEAKER_02]: So she's very damaged and hopefully that white light that we see as it's closing in her is the resetting light that's been restored because they've put the axe backs where it's supposed to be.
17:17 --> 17:18 [SPEAKER_02]: So hopefully that'll happen.
17:20 --> 17:20 [SPEAKER_02]: to short.
17:20 --> 17:20 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
17:21 --> 17:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
17:21 --> 17:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Any notes about the episode anything else about the episode you want to mention, John?
17:24 --> 17:25 [SPEAKER_02]: No, I know notes from me.
17:25 --> 17:34 [SPEAKER_02]: I just want for me that I want to mention in this episode having the city of Ottawa in Ethiopia in the early nineteen ninety in this this war between the Italians and the Ethiopians.
17:34 --> 17:35 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure this is intentional.
17:36 --> 17:45 [SPEAKER_02]: Last episode we had the Wardog Bashar who was out in Chinese society in the fourteen hundred and eighty he comes back to Wakanda and says
17:46 --> 17:47 [SPEAKER_02]: to me, they're very primitive.
17:48 --> 18:01 [SPEAKER_02]: Looking around him at Wakanda and all of their advancements, and here we have Prince De Firey looking on the city of Adwell, which is being fought over by these two completely different cultures, fought over by the invading Italians here really.
18:02 --> 18:10 [SPEAKER_02]: And he's saying this is a very advanced society, look what they've been able to build themselves, even with our technology, look what the Ethiopian's have been able to build.
18:10 --> 18:13 [SPEAKER_02]: And we, you know, in our lives, even, I'm sure you know it as well,
18:14 --> 18:17 [SPEAKER_02]: What we see of Ethiopia now is starving people in Ethiopia.
18:17 --> 18:21 [SPEAKER_02]: We've been seeing those images for thirty or forty years now at this stage.
18:22 --> 18:34 [SPEAKER_02]: And knowing that there was a time pre-war where they were a very advanced society that they had created a society here where our content would come to it and go, look how advanced this is.
18:35 --> 18:42 [SPEAKER_02]: It's a very interesting commentary and it is showing what word does to societies who have advanced to a great point.
18:42 --> 18:46 [SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was really important piece to have the prince say that.
18:46 --> 18:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely.
18:47 --> 18:57 [SPEAKER_03]: And it's kind of demonstrating the mismatch between technology, not advancement of society or the complexity of that society.
18:57 --> 19:01 [SPEAKER_03]: That's the thing that's always kind of in my mind is always confused.
19:01 --> 19:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Is it people go technologically, we're advanced.
19:04 --> 19:08 [SPEAKER_03]: Therefore, the society cultural is primitive.
19:10 --> 19:12 [SPEAKER_03]: But actually, the complexity of
19:13 --> 19:39 [SPEAKER_03]: the rules of society, the values may change, the morality, compass or centre may be different, it might be spiritual gods, it could be many gods, it could be a single god, it could be the son, it could be the moon, it could be a person, it could be a creature, but it's like the complexity is there, they are advanced, they have complex societies,
19:41 --> 19:52 [SPEAKER_03]: it's a technology level that they're at and in the same way that we're calling us trying to keep advanced technology so that they don't have undue influence to keep it internal.
19:52 --> 20:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Here we have the externality of advanced weaponry being used by the Italians in order to try and further their empire and expand it and the claims on other people.
20:06 --> 20:11 [SPEAKER_03]: I do like the fact that you do have that shout where they've captured the artillery.
20:11 --> 20:13 [SPEAKER_03]: It's the seemingly it's not going entirely there anyway.
20:13 --> 20:14 [SPEAKER_03]: No, it's not.
20:14 --> 20:17 [SPEAKER_02]: This is the first of two wars between Italy and Ethiopia.
20:18 --> 20:26 [SPEAKER_02]: We know that there was a second one around the time of the World War and part of the reason why it went well for the Italians then was because other people were focused on a World War.
20:26 --> 20:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so yeah, it's a good piece of history to talk about.
20:31 --> 20:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
20:33 --> 20:34 [SPEAKER_02]: But that was my own note.
20:34 --> 20:34 [SPEAKER_02]: Next one.
20:35 --> 20:35 [SPEAKER_02]: John, overall.
20:35 --> 20:38 [SPEAKER_02]: Do you defend the final episode of Eyes of Wakanda?
20:38 --> 20:39 [SPEAKER_02]: I've said four.
20:39 --> 20:40 [SPEAKER_02]: That's Panther.
20:40 --> 20:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, no, I do defend the episode.
20:42 --> 20:46 [SPEAKER_03]: I'd give this four Italian bread six out of five.
20:46 --> 20:55 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like I just really enjoyed how it connected everything together and back in and with the series, but also with Kilmonger.
20:55 --> 20:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Again, you know, really nice sort of
20:59 --> 21:21 [SPEAKER_02]: A buddy relationship here between to faring Kuda which I enjoyed so yeah now I'd give this for Italian breadsticks out of five fantastic fantastic yeah defend this episode defend the series have been really interesting look really well written animated series the style of the animation has been fantastic throughout really really enjoyed it yeah definitely
21:21 --> 21:27 [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, the final round of feedback thanks so much to those of you who've been selling us feedback in for Isabel Kanda.
21:27 --> 21:36 [SPEAKER_02]: I know animation series tend to be the ones that have a little less listenership and people don't tend to interact with us or less during those episodes.
21:36 --> 21:42 [SPEAKER_02]: So thanks so much to those of you who've sent in your thoughts, including of course, coffee vodka who's been selling in his thoughts on each of the episodes.
21:43 --> 21:44 [SPEAKER_02]: And so he sent a Z-mail on this episode, John.
21:45 --> 21:45 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
21:46 --> 21:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Coffee and vodka say is greetings, fellow, full circle defenders.
21:51 --> 22:00 [SPEAKER_03]: And now I want to rewatch the first Black Panther movie, an ending that's not really an ending and an amazing display of tolerance and patience on Cudas part.
22:00 --> 22:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Give me a companion with impulse control or give me death.
22:04 --> 22:07 [SPEAKER_03]: And something to far is seriously lacking in.
22:07 --> 22:14 [SPEAKER_03]: that we're all in this together theme of this and really every episode was apparent, without being preachy.
22:14 --> 22:32 [SPEAKER_03]: A good episode in a great series that'll lend itself well to regular re-binging, looking forward to your coverage of the series, for an half re-repo-man, learnt linear lessons and ancient, ancient alliances out of five, peace and take care of him vodka.
22:33 --> 22:34 [SPEAKER_03]: Excellent stuff, coffee and vodka.
22:35 --> 22:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I thought this was really, really good.
22:37 --> 22:39 [SPEAKER_03]: I kinda had a soft spot for Prince DeFari.
22:41 --> 22:43 [SPEAKER_02]: I absolutely did as well, yeah.
22:43 --> 22:51 [SPEAKER_02]: I love the fact that it does start out, that he's the annoying kid being taken on his first mission by the grizzled older guy, ready for retirement kind of thing.
22:52 --> 22:55 [SPEAKER_02]: And by the end, he's doing the right thing and doing it for the right reasons, the thing he does.
22:55 --> 22:57 [SPEAKER_02]: He does learn his lesson by the end of the tale.
22:57 --> 23:00 [SPEAKER_03]: They end up in a good team, CUDA, and DeFari.
23:02 --> 23:14 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I do think, I think you're right, this series has a great rewatch potential, and even sequentially moving on to the first Black Panther movie as well.
23:14 --> 23:25 [SPEAKER_02]: I went forward and I wanted to have to have a look and see what the lines were that were said by Kilmonger when he goes into the British Museum and sees his Wakandan artifacts sitting in there waiting for him.
23:25 --> 23:26 [SPEAKER_02]: I have to see that see the gang.
23:26 --> 23:28 [SPEAKER_02]: It's a great introduction to Kilmonger.
23:29 --> 23:30 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, excellent stuff.
23:30 --> 23:34 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm really pleased to enjoy the series as well, like we did.
23:34 --> 23:37 [SPEAKER_03]: So thanks for all the feedback coming vodka through this series.
23:38 --> 23:39 [SPEAKER_03]: Much appreciated.
23:39 --> 23:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
23:40 --> 23:44 [SPEAKER_02]: And we also got feedback in from Dr. Bob, who's been selling in this feedback on the series as well.
23:44 --> 23:46 [SPEAKER_02]: And I talked about settled this episode.
23:46 --> 23:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Now it might be because all the episodes really hit me, or perhaps I've just gone off bootstrap paradox stories, but this was my least favorite episode of the quartet.
23:56 --> 24:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Not a terrible story, some nice comic interplay and some impressively hoardy hoards, but just not quite as much for me as Noni, Maman, and the true Iron Fistware.
24:07 --> 24:08 [SPEAKER_02]: You see, he still loves the Iron Fist.
24:08 --> 24:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
24:09 --> 24:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
24:09 --> 24:11 [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't absolutely.
24:12 --> 24:13 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm fast as great.
24:15 --> 24:16 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you're that easy.
24:16 --> 24:17 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
24:17 --> 24:21 [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, a very different opinion there from Dr. Bob on this final episode.
24:22 --> 24:26 [SPEAKER_02]: We kind of liked the fact that it all tied up because we were expecting it.
24:26 --> 24:27 [SPEAKER_02]: We were expecting that.
24:27 --> 24:27 [SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
24:32 --> 24:33 [SPEAKER_03]: for the series.
24:34 --> 24:39 [SPEAKER_03]: But equally, it sort of leads you off for sure to the first Black Panther movie.
24:39 --> 24:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
24:40 --> 24:42 [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe the bootstrap rather than the book end.
24:43 --> 24:43 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe.
24:43 --> 24:48 [SPEAKER_02]: But thank you so much, of course, Dr. Val for all of your thoughts on the series.
24:48 --> 24:56 [SPEAKER_02]: And again, as I mentioned, thanks so much to everybody who's been sending their thoughts on the series, even if you didn't get the chance to sending your thoughts, thanks so much for listening along with us.
24:56 --> 24:59 [SPEAKER_02]: And thanks so much to you for joining us for The Eyes of Wakam, the podcast.
24:59 --> 25:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Do make sure you subscribe to the podcast over on tvpodcastindustries.com where you'll find the coverage that we're doing of lots of other shows including Alien Earth and the Sandman at the moment.
25:10 --> 25:12 [SPEAKER_02]: We will back in the MCU later this year.
25:13 --> 25:16 [SPEAKER_02]: with, I believe Marvel zombies, which is coming out hopefully in October.
25:16 --> 25:19 [SPEAKER_02]: And then with Wonderman at the end of the year in December.
25:19 --> 25:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that would be very interesting.
25:20 --> 25:21 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm looking forward to those.
25:22 --> 25:25 [SPEAKER_03]: And I hope you are as well, fellow defenders.
25:25 --> 25:27 [SPEAKER_03]: But thank you so much for joining us.
25:28 --> 25:33 [SPEAKER_03]: And until next time, remember, keep watching, keep listening.
25:33 --> 25:36 [SPEAKER_03]: And of course, fellow defenders keep defending.
25:36 --> 25:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Bye.
25:37 --> 25:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Bye.
25:57 --> 25:58 [UNKNOWN]: you
