Episode 1 "A Shadow of The Past" Synopsis

The elven world of Valinor lives in peace but a war arrives when the Dark Lord Morgoth attacks their homeland. They sail to Middle Earth to engage their foe and his forces, and after centuries of fighting Morgoth is defeated. Hi cunning servant Sauron remains and is tracked by the elf Finrod, who is killed and marked by Sauron. Finrod's sister Galadriel vows to continue the pursuit of Sauron. Galadreil and her company find an abandoned fortress in the northern wastelands of Forodwaith which bears Sauron's mark, but her companions insist that they return to the Elven capital Lindon, where High-king Gil-galad proclaims the war against Morgoth's forces to be over. He grants Galadriel a bitter gift - the honour of sailing to Valinor where she can live a peaceful life for all eternity - as she believes work still remains to rid Middle Earth Sauron and his evil.

In the Southlands of Middle-earth, Elves watch over Men descended from allies of Morgoth. To the disapproval of the others, the Elf Arrondir has developed a close relationship with the human healer Bronwyn. Together they discover that the town of Horden has been destroyed, while Bronwyn's son Theo finds a broken sword bearing Sauron's mark.

Sailing westwards and close to Valinor, Galadriel chooses to turn back and continue the search for Sauron, jumping from the ship into the Sundering Seas. At the same time, two curious Harfoots, Nori Brandyfoot and Poppy Proudfellow, discover a strange man inside a meteor crater.

Episode 2 "Adrift" Synopsis

Attempting to swim back to Middle-earth, Galadriel comes across a raft with human survivors of a shipwreck. She is rescued but the survivors come to distrust her when she is found to be an elf. Things turn worse, when the raft is attacked by a sea creature that had originally attacked the survivors ship. Galadriel and only one of the survivors, Halbrand of the Southlands, escape the ordeal. Halbrand explains that he is fleeing from Orcs, and through a storm he and Galadriel become bound together as they survive the storm.

Meanwhile, Nori and Poppy keep the stranger secret from the other Harfoots and give him food and shelter. He does not speak their language, but uses fireflies and apparent magic to indicate that he is searching for a constellation of stars that Nori does not recognize, but she knows of someone who can help.

Back in the Southlands Arrondir sends Bronwyn back to her own village to warn them of the danger, as he investigates strange tunnels beneath Horden, but is captured by an unknown creature. Back at her town Tirharad, Bronwyn’s warning is ignored. But back at her house she and Theo are attacked by an Orc emerging from tunnels. They are able to kill it, and use its head as proof of danger to convince the rest of the town to leave.

In Lindon, Gil-galad sends the Elf Elrond to assist the great Elven smith Celebrimbor, who is planning to build a powerful new forge. Elrond suggests they seek help from the Dwarves, and goes to his friend Prince Durin IV in Khazad-dûm. Durin is angry that Elrond has not visited in 20 years, but his wife Disa convinces him to hear Elrond's proposal.
