Invincible 404 Review

After a quick Daredevil diversion Derek and Chris are back to chat about another devil in Invincible 404 "Hurm". Check out our spoiler filled podcast.

Invincible 404 "Hurm" Synopsis

Created by: Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, Cory Walker

Episode Written by: Robert Kirkman

Directed by: Ian Abando

Fearing his recent disregard for life is turning Mark into his father he confesses his actions to Art. But his concern over his deeds assures Art that nothing could be further from the truth. But if he needs a change Art has recreated his old suit.

Eve calls Mark to stop the ancient Egyptian demon Ka-Hor freeing himself, but Damien Darkblood, attempting to reclaim Hell from Volcanikka, uses Nolan's blood and accidentally summons Mark to Hell. With the hero gone Ka-Hor puts his misogyny aside and escapes in the body of a female host.

Darkblood explains that Satan and his supporters have spent the last age battling with the powerful demon Volcanikka to foil her plan ‘The Vile’ to conquer Earth. Mark agrees to help and Darkblood recovers Satan's Molten Crown from Cerberus, restoring Satan's power and reviving Darkblood's family.

They confront Volcanikka, who defeats Satan, but Mark overpowers her and forces her to retreat. Satan keeps the Vile imprisoned and as a reward for their help, sends Mark and Darkblood back to Earth.

Back on earth-realm Eve tells William about her pregnancy, while Debbie plans to move in with Paul.

As Eve prepares to tell Mark about the news, Nolan and Allen arrive. There was no other choice; it's time for war with the Viltrimites.

Meanwhile, Satan secretly orders Damian Darkblood to investigate Volcanikka's motives and considers going to the surface

00:13 --> 00:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, don't worry, Domina.
00:16 --> 00:21 [SPEAKER_00]: You'll soon get another chance to restore me to my throne.
00:21 --> 00:21 [SPEAKER_00]: No.
00:23 --> 00:25 [SPEAKER_00]: What did you say?
00:26 --> 00:28 [SPEAKER_01]: futile to try same way again.
00:29 --> 00:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Well can it come may not leave enough left to restore next time.
00:34 --> 00:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Try conquering which war once more instead.
00:38 --> 00:41 [SPEAKER_01]: It has never worked.
00:41 --> 00:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Nor has facing her on our own.
00:44 --> 00:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Brah, your ritual is flawed.
00:47 --> 00:50 [SPEAKER_01]: No, not flawed.
00:51 --> 00:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Still have blood left from guardian crime scene.
00:55 --> 00:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Was worried before.
00:57 --> 01:03 [SPEAKER_01]: If widened parameters of spell, what could be brought down?
01:04 --> 01:06 [SPEAKER_01]: But, desperate now.
01:32 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back fellow guardians to the invincible podcast on TV podcast industries a week ice, but that's not a bad thing is that we're back talking about a visible season 4 episode 4, my name is Derek one of your hosts on the podcast, I didn't know what her was,
01:52 --> 02:14 [SPEAKER_06]: until I saw the actual episode because what is that hurt like just going through it's it's not a hm yeah there's that or throws you up it's just a hm it's very specific to Damian Darkblood but I did notice in the episode it starts transferring to other characters that are around in quite a few times but it's quite fun yeah
02:14 --> 02:20 [SPEAKER_06]: It's just, it is, it's a, it's actually transmitted disease through this case.
02:20 --> 02:22 [SPEAKER_06]: It's a furably transmitted disease.
02:22 --> 02:22 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
02:23 --> 02:26 [SPEAKER_06]: Dr. Bob can help us and tell us that that's more of a thing or not.
02:27 --> 02:31 [SPEAKER_06]: But yes, rounding out this dynamic duo, I am Chris.
02:32 --> 02:35 [SPEAKER_02]: I know I'm not a doctor Chris, but it does happen.
02:35 --> 02:39 [SPEAKER_02]: You can, you know, the way you're homosong and by the end of the day, it's at the other end of your office.
02:39 --> 02:41 [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so it's kind of like that.
02:41 --> 02:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I was more going, you know where you're in your really drunk, and you think you can talk Spamish when you're away and holiday, and by the end of the night, you can't talk Spamish or they're all so drunk, and it was just accepting, but it is great to be back with a vegetable we took a little bit of a break, Chris had a work event on.
02:59 --> 03:05 [SPEAKER_02]: And we had lots of Daredevil to talk about on our main podcast for you on tvpodcastindustries.com.
03:05 --> 03:12 [SPEAKER_02]: If you want to hear us off to myself and John, our other host or talk about Daredevil over there, make sure you subscribe to the podcast on tvpodcastindustries.com.
03:12 --> 03:16 [SPEAKER_02]: We'll also get all of our podcasts about invincible so far.
03:16 --> 03:31 [SPEAKER_02]: We also want to hear your thoughts about how to convince people you can email us to feedback at tvpodcastindustries.com, join us around our Facebook group at facebook.com, slash tvpodcastindustries, or join us on our Discord, where we also have a spoiler post up there for every episode of every show that we're covering.
03:31 --> 03:34 [SPEAKER_02]: You can find the details for that in the show notes for this very episode.
03:34 --> 03:43 [SPEAKER_06]: With all that then, Derek, do you want to quickly get us into it by telling us who gave us what, where, where and how, with the episode details with this?
03:43 --> 03:44 [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely.
03:44 --> 03:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
03:44 --> 03:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
03:44 --> 03:45 [SPEAKER_02]: We already talked about her.
03:46 --> 03:47 [SPEAKER_02]: We want to, don't want to delay any longer.
03:47 --> 03:55 [SPEAKER_02]: These show is, of course, based on the comic series written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Corey Walker and Ryan Offley, developed by Robert Kirkman for a prime video.
03:55 --> 03:58 [SPEAKER_02]: Produced by Robert Kirkman, David Alper, Catherine Winder,
03:58 --> 04:02 [SPEAKER_02]: Sumerous Yappa, Margaret M. Dean, Sethrogan and Evan Gulberg.
04:02 --> 04:10 [SPEAKER_02]: This episode was directed by Ian Abandon, there's a fourth episode of Imidcible, he's directed, and I'll say it again, he directed this season two episode in about six hours.
04:10 --> 04:15 [SPEAKER_02]: I lose my virginity to a fish, which is still my favoritly named episode of the entire show, Sethro.
04:16 --> 04:19 [SPEAKER_02]: And this episode was written by Robert Kirkman.
04:19 --> 04:22 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, he wrote the comics, so I guess he had to write this episode.
04:22 --> 04:27 [SPEAKER_02]: Importantly, this is one of the first major storylines that never took place in the comic books.
04:28 --> 04:35 [SPEAKER_02]: He was going to do a treatment of a story of Damian Darkblood after he left Earth Realm, I guess we'll call it then.
04:36 --> 04:43 [SPEAKER_02]: But never got around to it, so he chose to write this episode of the TV show, telling the story of what happened down in Hell.
04:43 --> 04:47 [SPEAKER_06]: That was gonna be one of my easter eggs, which is like when you went, it is this comic.
04:47 --> 04:49 [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like, oh yes, but like he is now
04:50 --> 04:53 [SPEAKER_06]: Well, since I come out of retirement, but he's gone into retirement.
04:53 --> 04:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not.
04:54 --> 04:55 [SPEAKER_02]: He still has new books going out every month.
04:55 --> 04:56 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, exactly.
04:57 --> 05:08 [SPEAKER_06]: He's, he's come out of his invincible retirement to, uh, to pen a new episodic kind of what would be probably two or three issues, maybe two issues.
05:09 --> 05:16 [SPEAKER_06]: Um, little get away for Mark and down to the fiery underworld, um, but yeah.
05:16 --> 05:17 [SPEAKER_06]: It's a good one.
05:16 --> 05:30 [SPEAKER_02]: We used to see this quite a bit on the walkie dead when there was a good relationship between AMC and Robert Kirkman, when a character had to be written off earlier, or a big change that was happening from the comic book, Robert Kirkman will kind of take it on board and go, right?
05:30 --> 05:46 [SPEAKER_02]: Here's something massive that has to happen, I'll take the responsibility for killing off Andrea or something like that, which will make comic fans mad, so kind of cool that he's coming on board to do this episode, not putting it on the hands of anybody else to tell this story that hasn't been told before, so kind of cool.
05:47 --> 05:50 [SPEAKER_02]: But Chris, do you want to tell us what they gave us with a synopsis for?
05:51 --> 05:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Invincible season 4 episode 4?
05:53 --> 05:55 [SPEAKER_06]: Hmm.
05:55 --> 05:55 [SPEAKER_06]: Sure.
05:55 --> 06:01 [SPEAKER_06]: Fearing his recent disregard for life is turning Mark into his father, he confesses his actions to art.
06:02 --> 06:07 [SPEAKER_06]: But his concern over his deeds is sure art that nothing could be further than the truth.
06:07 --> 06:11 [SPEAKER_06]: But if he needs to change, art has recreated his old suit.
06:12 --> 06:26 [SPEAKER_06]: Eve calls Mark to stop an ancient Egyptian demon, Cahor from freeing himself, but Damian Darkblood attempting to reclaim Hell from volcanic, uses Nolan's blood and accidentally silenced Mark down to Hell.
06:27 --> 06:34 [SPEAKER_06]: With the hero gone, Cahor puts his misogyny aside and escapes in the bloody of the females.
06:34 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_06]: Darkblood explains that Satan and his supporters have spent the last age battling the powerful demon for Klanaka to foil her plan, the Vile Conkring Earth.
06:47 --> 07:03 [SPEAKER_06]: With that marked Greece to help and Darkblood recover Satan molten crowd from Cerberus restoring Satan's fire, and reviving the Darkblood family.
07:04 --> 07:09 [SPEAKER_06]: Satan keeps the violin present, and other words for their help, sends Mark and DarkBook back to Earth.
07:10 --> 07:17 [SPEAKER_06]: Back on the earth realm, Eve tells William about her pregnancy, while Debbie Plans to move him upon.
07:17 --> 07:22 [SPEAKER_06]: As Eve prepares to tell Mark about the news, Nolan Allen arrives.
07:22 --> 07:26 [SPEAKER_06]: There was no the choice, it's time for the work with the volgeumites.
07:27 --> 07:36 [SPEAKER_06]: Meanwhile, Satan secretly orders Damian Darkblood to investigate Volcanica's motives, and he even considers going to the circus himself.
07:36 --> 07:38 [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to Earth, Satan, I guess.
07:38 --> 07:40 [SPEAKER_02]: going to happen in the future.
07:40 --> 07:45 [SPEAKER_02]: It was so interesting that they took this decision to tell the story of David Diablo.
07:45 --> 07:53 [SPEAKER_02]: We saw this as a post-credited in the end of last season, but prior to that, we hadn't seen Diablo since season 1, so really interesting to catch up with the net.
07:53 --> 08:15 [SPEAKER_02]: I just love it was Bruce Campbell playing Satan well of course absolutely like just getting Bruce Campbell alongside Plancy Brown just for that kind of back and forth I was like oh yeah Okay, like there's a really fun moments like I've always enjoyed Bruce Campbell a big fan of all of the stuff that he's done But there are moments when he's just Bruce Campbell
08:15 --> 08:17 [SPEAKER_02]: in every role he's ever played and he's here.
08:17 --> 08:24 [SPEAKER_02]: He's playing site and then you can hear him playing site and then suddenly he starts talking just like Bruce Campbell and you know they just keep it in for the fall of it.
08:24 --> 08:25 [SPEAKER_02]: So why not?
08:25 --> 08:26 [SPEAKER_02]: It's really really good.
08:26 --> 08:30 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's get into our chat about our major points from the episode though Chris.
08:30 --> 08:32 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to start out with point number one arts reassurance.
08:32 --> 08:36 [SPEAKER_02]: So just think it's an important moment at the beginning of the episode that we have.
08:36 --> 08:43 [SPEAKER_02]: this discussion between Marc and Art, Marc having had those many experiences now where he's willing to kill.
08:44 --> 08:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Some for major reasons, like for example, and in the the second attack on Earth, and others he's not too sure about himself, and he's starting to question whether he's just like his father Nolan, and he goes to talk to Art about this, the costume maker.
08:57 --> 08:59 [SPEAKER_02]: And once you think of this kind of moment between them.
09:00 --> 09:18 [SPEAKER_06]: This kind of follows on from our previous discussion on this episode where we were talking about that great or good the Charlie problem Like would you kill to say the the wider the kind of people at the white world like if it's Hitler or So and we can see Mark struggling with this and it's actually you're right.
09:18 --> 09:24 [SPEAKER_06]: It's good to play it out now because as we know from the very end
09:24 --> 09:41 [SPEAKER_06]: War has come, Nolan and Allen have arrived and that is going to bring Mark directly and conflict So we do expect that killing will happen again soon So we as the audience by the end of episode nope, it was a good piece to bring eggs and start but art has always been nice
09:42 --> 09:54 [SPEAKER_06]: Well, hey, it's Luke, so that mentor, it's the Star Wars Sage Jedi, giving you assurance that you know what is right.
09:54 --> 09:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Wonderful Mark Hamillot.
09:56 --> 10:05 [SPEAKER_02]: I love that you can still call them Luke here, even though most of us were acting career, he's been the Joker in Batman, but he's still the mentor when he uses the voice like he uses it here.
10:05 --> 10:09 [SPEAKER_02]: So it's really good, but it has a great moment and he's absolutely right in this case from Mark.
10:09 --> 10:12 [SPEAKER_02]: the question that that's a Mark's lips is am I going too far?
10:12 --> 10:14 [SPEAKER_02]: Am I going to turn into my father?
10:14 --> 10:19 [SPEAKER_02]: And arts answer is well, if you're asking those questions, you're not Nolan, right?
10:19 --> 10:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Because Nolan never once asked himself to those questions in the entire time he was on earth working as a working as a hero or working as a bad guy even towards the end he never once went to art and said I'm like, is what I'm doing wrong?
10:33 --> 10:35 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, so maybe you're in a good side.
10:35 --> 10:35 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
10:35 --> 10:37 [SPEAKER_06]: It's all this genocide, a bad thing.
10:38 --> 10:51 [SPEAKER_06]: It is a strong character trait of invincible of Mark, which is as powerful and invincible that he is.
10:51 --> 10:54 [SPEAKER_06]: He is still half human.
10:54 --> 10:57 [SPEAKER_06]: So that half of him
10:57 --> 11:06 [SPEAKER_06]: is that what you would hopefully consider the stronger parts, the more non-psychotic parts, and really just an asim to question.
11:06 --> 11:13 [SPEAKER_06]: So having those questions, having that dilemma is what makes mark the the municipal character.
11:14 --> 11:16 [SPEAKER_06]: That being said though,
11:17 --> 11:40 [SPEAKER_06]: as we see him progress throughout this season, last season, him letting go and kind of falling to that dark side, falling to that vultromice anger and fury, is an interesting juxtaposition for the character that you can see in as they even um,
11:41 --> 11:42 [SPEAKER_06]: as even enemies.
11:43 --> 11:54 [SPEAKER_06]: Because we go back and look at when he's like staring and like he's trembling ever so slightly as he holds say dinosaurists by the neck.
11:55 --> 12:03 [SPEAKER_06]: like it's that conflicting side of him, the rage of the bulge of my experiences, the human side.
12:03 --> 12:06 [SPEAKER_06]: So it is cool that they're like, all right, it is just reassuring.
12:06 --> 12:10 [SPEAKER_06]: Go, no, you're not known because you have that conflicting part to.
12:10 --> 12:11 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
12:11 --> 12:19 [SPEAKER_02]: And then he makes a choice to say something in the show here that I'm just not sure about it because it's not, it's not been defined certainly.
12:20 --> 12:23 [SPEAKER_02]: for me as a viewer of the show versus comic book reader.
12:23 --> 12:39 [SPEAKER_02]: He says to Mark, I thought we'd be needing these colors again and then pulls out his old outfit, which he's recreates, he's made a new version of the suit that he initially wore when he came out as hopeful, invincible, and tells him,
12:39 --> 12:43 [SPEAKER_02]: if you want to wear that, it's waiting for you here, right?
12:43 --> 12:51 [SPEAKER_02]: And I never really came across to be that the suits in the show represented anything other than just new suits that Mark was choosing.
12:52 --> 12:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Is that a bit clearer in the comic books that there's a reason for the choices of the suits or they just represent different eras or what do you think?
13:00 --> 13:02 [SPEAKER_06]: They were represented different eras.
13:02 --> 13:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Um, because like I've heard people talk about the blue suit here after people talk about other areas that we haven't seen yet.
13:08 --> 13:14 [SPEAKER_02]: And then just this moment here it feels more like something directed at the comic book readers rather than the TV show viewers to be.
13:14 --> 13:20 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I don't think it was just explained well enough last season where he when he moved to the blue suit.
13:21 --> 13:29 [SPEAKER_06]: It was because he felt he couldn't be invincible anymore because of all the distortion and death that he had.
13:29 --> 13:30 [SPEAKER_06]: in his head const.
13:30 --> 13:30 [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
13:31 --> 13:32 [SPEAKER_06]: Right.
13:32 --> 13:36 [SPEAKER_06]: So he wanted, he was no longer worthy of being invincible so he just took it.
13:36 --> 13:43 [SPEAKER_06]: It was like, his dark, his dark night, dark side type of the approach.
13:44 --> 13:48 [SPEAKER_02]: I think the strategy is like the black suit for Spider-Manus is dark.
13:48 --> 13:48 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
13:48 --> 13:48 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
13:48 --> 13:49 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
13:49 --> 13:51 [SPEAKER_06]: I think this is just him.
13:51 --> 13:55 [SPEAKER_06]: His invincible yellow blue and black is
13:56 --> 14:01 [SPEAKER_06]: the invincibly that you know, the kind of, um, the colourful price.
14:03 --> 14:03 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
14:03 --> 14:03 [SPEAKER_06]: Right.
14:03 --> 14:04 [SPEAKER_06]: And blue spider man.
14:04 --> 14:05 [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
14:05 --> 14:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Right.
14:05 --> 14:06 [SPEAKER_06]: Kind of the approach.
14:06 --> 14:08 [SPEAKER_06]: So I just think it wasn't called that well enough.
14:09 --> 14:12 [SPEAKER_06]: They could have just give it a bit more.
14:13 --> 14:14 [SPEAKER_06]: puzzle, not even puzzle.
14:14 --> 14:19 [SPEAKER_06]: It's just, it could have just given it a bit more kind of like wink, wink, no, it's not.
14:19 --> 14:20 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
14:20 --> 14:22 [SPEAKER_06]: It's literally, we're having RTA.
14:22 --> 14:26 [SPEAKER_06]: You always looked yet better and smiled more when you were in.
14:27 --> 14:27 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
14:27 --> 14:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Some or something along those lines.
14:29 --> 14:34 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because you can see later on when he puts the suit back on later and we'll talk about everything else that's happening in the episode later.
14:34 --> 14:35 [SPEAKER_02]: But
14:35 --> 14:47 [SPEAKER_02]: We see Mark flying around, wearing the suit, looking like happy old invention, you know, so He does seem much happier in himself than he was, but there's nothing in the suit itself That's causing that.
14:47 --> 14:56 [SPEAKER_02]: It's just he's returning to him old his old self when he puts on the old suit I guess it's what it's supposed to represent there just just thought it was something that was directed at people that at know the
14:56 --> 15:02 [SPEAKER_02]: whatever it may be, five, 10 different suits that Mark wears over the course of the 160 shoots comic.
15:03 --> 15:07 [SPEAKER_02]: I thought it seemed to be more directed at people that are aware of that, than they've described it on the show.
15:08 --> 15:13 [SPEAKER_02]: But again, the app says written by Robert Kirkman, so he may think that everybody does know that.
15:14 --> 15:20 [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, well, yeah, he's the writer and creator,
15:20 --> 15:22 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
15:22 --> 15:48 [SPEAKER_02]: And before we move on from this moment with ours, I do want to mention, because I know it's not really connected with this part of the episode, but I do want to mention the aside with Cohore, because it has always been the funniest background moments through it.
15:48 --> 15:56 [SPEAKER_02]: And every time it's foiled for some various reasons we've seen in the past, just Mark flying overhead and covering the area in sand.
15:56 --> 15:57 [SPEAKER_02]: So he gets trapped in this place.
15:58 --> 16:04 [SPEAKER_02]: We've seen last season, the most recent one, was where two archaeologists arrived and covered his location.
16:04 --> 16:10 [SPEAKER_02]: He jumped out and said, finally, I can take a new host and leave and then realize there were women.
16:10 --> 16:17 [SPEAKER_02]: So he didn't, he said at the time, he couldn't embody the body of a woman
16:17 --> 16:24 [SPEAKER_02]: we see that invincible has taken one of those archaeologists back to, I guess, eventually the other archaeologists who was killed by him.
16:25 --> 16:42 [SPEAKER_02]: So this time it's Riley, who has been there before, and Mark is spirited away by Demi and Darkblood, and Riley's left on her own, and Kohor actually decides, well, I suppose, I guess, if the only choice is a woman, I guess, I'll take the body of
16:42 --> 16:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Which it sounded like last season.
16:44 --> 16:46 [SPEAKER_02]: He absolutely couldn't do this time.
16:46 --> 16:52 [SPEAKER_02]: He's saying it was actually just that he's a misogynist and thought that he didn't want to be in the body of a stupid woman basically.
16:53 --> 16:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Yep, hilarious.
16:55 --> 16:56 [SPEAKER_06]: Brilliant, just brilliant.
16:56 --> 17:06 [SPEAKER_06]: And even just having at the end as rarely gets up or to work, it's on to the surveys like, And now I must, oh god, that one flew this one here.
17:07 --> 17:09 [SPEAKER_06]: because he's going to have a walk across the dancing course.
17:09 --> 17:15 [SPEAKER_02]: I also like the other little joke of what he's inside the body goes, this isn't actually that but has it.
17:15 --> 17:17 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so of course it isn't.
17:17 --> 17:18 [SPEAKER_02]: Great.
17:18 --> 17:24 [SPEAKER_02]: I'd nice to see a Climbing Manager who, of course, played quite on an agency shield back for this world again.
17:25 --> 17:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Daisy.
17:25 --> 17:27 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's cool to see.
17:27 --> 17:28 [SPEAKER_06]: Right, right.
17:28 --> 17:28 [SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
17:28 --> 17:30 [SPEAKER_02]: I think that's it for our first point.
17:30 --> 17:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Chris, let's move on to our second point.
17:32 --> 17:35 [SPEAKER_02]: Satan versus Volcanica for a ruler of hell.
17:36 --> 17:37 [SPEAKER_02]: Brand new story here, Chris.
17:37 --> 17:38 [SPEAKER_06]: Yep.
17:39 --> 17:41 [SPEAKER_06]: Completely new.
17:41 --> 17:41 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
17:41 --> 17:42 [SPEAKER_02]: So what do we know?
17:43 --> 17:46 [SPEAKER_02]: Is there anything that you knew from the comic books about Debbie and Dr. Lutz?
17:46 --> 17:47 [SPEAKER_02]: History or anything like that?
17:47 --> 17:48 [SPEAKER_02]: Or is it all new?
17:48 --> 17:49 [SPEAKER_06]: This is all new.
17:49 --> 17:51 [SPEAKER_06]: I was sitting there kind of like,
17:52 --> 17:56 [SPEAKER_06]: Well, first of all, I was sitting there going, I'm like, do I remember any of this?
17:56 --> 18:00 [SPEAKER_06]: Wait, like, how much did I, how much am I blanking at sometimes?
18:02 --> 18:04 [SPEAKER_02]: The 160, you may not remember all of it.
18:04 --> 18:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
18:06 --> 18:10 [SPEAKER_06]: But no, it is pretty much all new, new, new.
18:10 --> 18:16 [SPEAKER_06]: Damien, you know, of the character once or twice, sees kind of in a few of them.
18:16 --> 18:22 [SPEAKER_06]: He's also in a few of the gardens, the globe, kind of offshoot mini-character, called comics,
18:22 --> 18:44 [SPEAKER_06]: But typically he's not, this is not something majorly put through because it's typically like the side comics usually focus on an aspect of like the gardeners of the globe or the capes or anything like that, which
18:44 --> 18:45 [SPEAKER_06]: It's a wound character.
18:46 --> 18:46 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
18:47 --> 19:09 [SPEAKER_06]: So, this was all net new, and what I found interesting was the way that they've described how what it is and who the demons are and who the vial are and how it's all about different ages, because we don't talk about the 4th age, right?
19:09 --> 19:10 [SPEAKER_06]: No, no, no, no.
19:10 --> 19:11 [SPEAKER_06]: Or the 5th.
19:11 --> 19:31 [SPEAKER_06]: the 6th age is the age of the the demons and the 7th age is where we are now, but also like the second age is what the
19:32 --> 19:43 [SPEAKER_06]: that he has that we have seen somewhat before, and the thank God it's not the first stage monsters because they're even bigger and scarier.
19:43 --> 19:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, and isn't they also call us the Kyju are from the second age, but that's the the Kyju that we've seen Mark battling.
19:51 --> 20:02 [SPEAKER_02]: on and off, and the Guardians battle on and off through it, the couple of seasons, they're off in the second age and a skate on to Earth as well, so yeah, yeah, so it's a really interesting idea, isn't it?
20:02 --> 20:20 [SPEAKER_02]: And then they discussed about the fact that this as all gone into mythology, almost, that the awareness of the this hell dimension has become a story to warn humans from turning into the wild, from turning into the bad things and going there and that keeps them
20:20 --> 20:23 [SPEAKER_02]: On earth until a die and trying to do good things.
20:23 --> 20:32 [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that's part of the major discussion that happens between Damian Mark here that kind of moment of realization from Mark that he's still trying to do good
20:33 --> 20:57 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and beyond that, I loved the fact that, as you said, that it's also the torture aspects of the demons is the way that they keep the vile in check, and is by constantly torturing them and pulling power from them, that is how they keep or the hells keep the vile as a prison imprisoned.
20:57 --> 21:23 [SPEAKER_06]: I have to say, I like it, as a concept, and especially as when you have that conversation between Damian and Mark about all of this, and Mark asked about heaven, he goes, no, that is a virtue of creation by the humans, as you said, like his old mythology aspect,
21:23 --> 21:25 [SPEAKER_06]: They say this really interesting piece of it.
21:25 --> 21:30 [SPEAKER_06]: No, you should do good on earth because that's what matters.
21:30 --> 21:35 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, not for getting into a place after life.
21:35 --> 21:35 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
21:35 --> 21:45 [SPEAKER_02]: It was something like saying that the hell conversation that was created was created as the stick to be humans with to keep them being good.
21:45 --> 21:46 [SPEAKER_02]: But there is no carrot.
21:46 --> 21:48 [SPEAKER_02]: There is no heaven to go too afterwards.
21:48 --> 21:51 [SPEAKER_02]: You have to make earth heaven because that is the last destination.
21:51 --> 21:53 [SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, you become a violin goat to hell.
21:53 --> 21:55 [SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of the way that they describe it.
21:55 --> 22:01 [SPEAKER_02]: Really interesting idea and again, having rubber curtain being the one through right that story makes a lot of sense.
22:01 --> 22:06 [SPEAKER_02]: It's part of the expanded mythology now of his invincible universe.
22:06 --> 22:08 [SPEAKER_02]: That's great to have him being the one telling that story.
22:08 --> 22:09 [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's cool idea.
22:09 --> 22:10 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
22:10 --> 22:10 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
22:10 --> 22:10 [SPEAKER_06]: No, 100%.
22:10 --> 22:23 [SPEAKER_02]: No, the other stuff that's going on here with St. Darkblood and the Darkblood people who all support Satan and Satan, as you said, placed play by Bruce Campbell, there's just some really interesting stuff in here.
22:23 --> 22:32 [SPEAKER_02]: You know, Satan himself is a shrunken dwarf and figure who we sell for a second, again, at the end of, I think, season, won't necessarily at the end of last season.
22:32 --> 22:35 [SPEAKER_02]: But that's just because he has no power.
22:35 --> 22:36 [SPEAKER_02]: He has limited power.
22:36 --> 22:49 [SPEAKER_02]: The dark blood family are The ones going into battle over and over again against Volcanica and they're doing it on behalf of Satan until he gets his power back and when he gets his power back He can then lead the army.
22:49 --> 23:00 [SPEAKER_02]: So as I thought that was again a really interesting idea Especially because yeah the version of Satan that we've been told about is very different to this and not many people will be fighting on his side
23:00 --> 23:02 [SPEAKER_06]: 100% today.
23:02 --> 23:11 [SPEAKER_06]: So one part I wanted to call it out on this, which was like, it doesn't the way they call it the dark blood family.
23:12 --> 23:20 [SPEAKER_06]: So you have domina, you have Damian, and we don't get to name the other kind of three.
23:20 --> 23:20 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
23:20 --> 23:28 [SPEAKER_06]: But it's like, it's a kind of like seems like the five of
23:29 --> 23:42 [SPEAKER_06]: They're super hero suits, which can we quickly, quickly just call out the joke when they're falling and they go into the bottom of the page, which is the bottom of the page.
23:42 --> 23:43 [SPEAKER_06]: So it's really deep.
23:44 --> 23:53 [SPEAKER_06]: And as invincible and damnian are falling, damnian keeps putting on his helmets and putting it off and putting it on.
23:53 --> 24:02 [SPEAKER_06]: I feel this was ultimately a real big, funny dig at our friends in the MCU.
24:03 --> 24:03 [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely.
24:03 --> 24:07 [SPEAKER_06]: And they're nano-tech helmets that come on and off like that.
24:07 --> 24:08 [SPEAKER_02]: It's yes.
24:09 --> 24:13 [SPEAKER_02]: it is, but it's actually more than that.
24:13 --> 24:25 [SPEAKER_02]: The reason those come on and off is because you pay a rubber daily junior, 120 million for a movie, you're not showing a helmet covered and rubber daily junior's face, so you make up something so the mask pops off, so you can see his face, right?
24:25 --> 24:26 [SPEAKER_02]: That's what you're paying for.
24:26 --> 24:30 [SPEAKER_02]: And so yeah, the joke here is that the mask.
24:32 --> 24:38 [SPEAKER_02]: how that disappears every time they've been to, but speaks, and I absolutely love it.
24:38 --> 24:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, just the delivery from Stephen Young, I just can't work as a reason why this would happen.
24:44 --> 24:48 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand practically why the mask would disappear every time you speak.
24:48 --> 24:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Do you think I can't hear you when you have the mask on?
24:52 --> 24:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Is that the reason for who would develop this?
24:54 --> 24:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Is it concept?
24:55 --> 24:57 [SPEAKER_02]: I can hear you're perfectly well with the mask on.
24:57 --> 24:58 [SPEAKER_02]: It is hilarious.
24:58 --> 25:00 [SPEAKER_02]: I love how long it goes on.
25:00 --> 25:02 [SPEAKER_02]: It's one of those jokes that gets funnier at the longer it goes on.
25:03 --> 25:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
25:03 --> 25:04 [SPEAKER_02]: Really, really good.
25:04 --> 25:05 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exceptional sense.
25:05 --> 25:06 [SPEAKER_06]: And even just like...
25:07 --> 25:08 [SPEAKER_06]: You'll get tired.
25:09 --> 25:10 [SPEAKER_06]: Just let gravity do.
25:10 --> 25:12 [SPEAKER_06]: Wait, let's go.
25:12 --> 25:13 [SPEAKER_06]: We'll be sure to catch this.
25:14 --> 25:17 [SPEAKER_06]: It just plants your brains delivery a lot of this as well.
25:17 --> 25:19 [SPEAKER_06]: It's so flat.
25:19 --> 25:25 [SPEAKER_06]: It's just, I mean, I flat as in monotone, not flat and delivery.
25:25 --> 25:26 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
25:26 --> 25:28 [SPEAKER_06]: Just, it's so good.
25:28 --> 25:35 [SPEAKER_02]: And we also are introduced to two other incredible voice actors for these roles in here.
25:35 --> 25:40 [SPEAKER_02]: We talked about Bruce Campbell, we talked about Clancy Brown of course, but he's in the business show in various different roles.
25:41 --> 25:50 [SPEAKER_02]: Brand new character in here, Kate Mogri playing Dhamma da Damien's sister, Kate Mogri massively well known for her part as Captain Janeway in Star Trek forager.
25:51 --> 25:54 [SPEAKER_02]: And Terrell, as a Russian in in
25:54 --> 25:55 [SPEAKER_02]: are into the new black as well.
25:56 --> 26:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Very difficult to catch that it was her until I saw the credits, but instantly the second I saw it, I went, of course that's what that voice is, of course it is, and she's fantastic here, BOSS!
26:09 --> 26:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, the still to dialogue, the way that the two of them speak together, it was okay hearing the grunts of Damian Darkblood on his own back in season one when no loom was beside him, but having the two of them having extended conversations between each other with the way they leave every second word effectively, it's very difficult to keep track of the conversation itself for me.
26:30 --> 26:34 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad it isn't on screen all the time.
26:34 --> 26:35 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's say that.
26:35 --> 26:57 [SPEAKER_06]: I will I will agree wholeheartedly different one of both exactly I feel they could have you Kate for a different person maybe I don't know why they kind of because it was this is very much a one and done Yeah, maybe that's all they could have that's all she wanted to do and maybe it was just that
26:57 --> 27:06 [SPEAKER_02]: I'd say it's probably just to have a bit of a nod to why Damian Darkblood speaks the way he does because all of his relations speak the same way.
27:06 --> 27:08 [SPEAKER_02]: All of his plans speak the same way.
27:08 --> 27:14 [SPEAKER_02]: That's the touch that he do, but they had a very extended conversation that I was going, oh I can't wait for this piece to be over.
27:15 --> 27:18 [SPEAKER_02]: And then we had the fantastic Indira Varma,
27:18 --> 27:26 [SPEAKER_02]: playing Volcanica, the ruler of Hell, the current ruler of Hell, who just loves to do her speeches everywhere she goes.
27:27 --> 27:30 [SPEAKER_02]: He was literally watching and trying to find the close for this episode.
27:31 --> 27:35 [SPEAKER_02]: There's probably two or three minutes where she's literally telling everybody who
27:35 --> 27:38 [SPEAKER_02]: She is and who everybody else is and why have we should fear her?
27:39 --> 27:39 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
27:40 --> 27:51 [SPEAKER_02]: And Derivar, if you don't know, she played one of the C-snakes on Game of Thrones, and also recently played the Bride character on Creature Commandos and the D.C. Universe.
27:51 --> 27:54 [SPEAKER_02]: So, very well established actors as well.
27:54 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_02]: It's a cool to have her in the show.
27:57 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
27:57 --> 27:58 [SPEAKER_06]: Great.
27:59 --> 28:04 [SPEAKER_06]: and then we do get what I have to admit is some of the best, not best.
28:05 --> 28:25 [SPEAKER_06]: Again, just different um, action sequences, um, one of the ones that I want to call out is, and it's more so because they've talked about how they'd like to try and save one equal, because we're some of these fights, but they had the silhouetted fight part at the very beginning.
28:25 --> 28:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes it is.
28:25 --> 28:36 [SPEAKER_06]: Damian and Domina are fighting Volcanica and it's just on them silhouette at it against what is like just a lava waterfall.
28:36 --> 28:37 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, I'm a folk.
28:39 --> 28:40 [SPEAKER_06]: And
28:40 --> 28:43 [SPEAKER_06]: just them in shadow dark beautifully animated.
28:43 --> 28:44 [SPEAKER_02]: It's gorgeous.
28:45 --> 28:46 [SPEAKER_06]: Just gorgeous to see.
28:46 --> 28:47 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, I'll kiss.
28:48 --> 28:49 [SPEAKER_02]: It's even more gorgeous.
28:49 --> 28:50 [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm great.
28:50 --> 28:52 [SPEAKER_02]: It's great that you can't tell me that because that's actually the cover image for this episode.
28:52 --> 28:54 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know you haven't seen it yet.
28:54 --> 28:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the cover image for our episode.
28:55 --> 28:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Is that that specific moment?
28:57 --> 29:00 [SPEAKER_02]: I call it a great moment to the battle.
29:00 --> 29:00 [SPEAKER_02]: It's really cool.
29:01 --> 29:03 [SPEAKER_02]: That's so, you know, we do have multiple battles here.
29:04 --> 29:09 [SPEAKER_02]: The idea is that they're fighting uphill at all times against against
29:09 --> 29:11 [SPEAKER_02]: in Dumbisable Force in Engalcanica.
29:11 --> 29:16 [SPEAKER_02]: She kills them all constantly and some point today will eventually regenerate with the power of Satan.
29:17 --> 29:24 [SPEAKER_02]: Plus, there is a point that they're going to get to, that she will destroy too much of them and they won't be able to come back and fight again.
29:24 --> 29:28 [SPEAKER_02]: and Damien is calling for a say to try something new, right?
29:28 --> 29:30 [SPEAKER_02]: Because we've done this multiple times.
29:30 --> 29:33 [SPEAKER_02]: You'd suspect now that he's been dead there for many years.
29:34 --> 29:40 [SPEAKER_02]: So you'd suspect that Damien has thought this battle over and over again with the sister and wants to stop.
29:40 --> 29:43 [SPEAKER_02]: There's a moment where he comes back with just half of her head.
29:45 --> 29:47 [SPEAKER_02]: So in this battle and you just hear,
29:47 --> 29:59 [SPEAKER_02]: I a little bit of a croak out of the the head of Domina and that's all that she can do and but she is still alive and they will still She will eventually restore with the power of Satan.
29:59 --> 30:02 [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah Can we talk about the power of Satan?
30:02 --> 30:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, please do.
30:03 --> 30:04 [SPEAKER_06]: It's just very quickly.
30:04 --> 30:15 [SPEAKER_06]: I love once they give this feeble old little Man his fiery crown the molten crown.
30:15 --> 30:16 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes
30:16 --> 30:17 [SPEAKER_06]: the molten crane.
30:19 --> 30:24 [SPEAKER_06]: I love how he just becomes this void of both.
30:26 --> 30:30 [SPEAKER_06]: Like just kind of demon and it's just hilarious.
30:30 --> 30:31 [SPEAKER_06]: It that's for me.
30:31 --> 30:34 [SPEAKER_06]: It was where I was like, oh, this Bruce Campbell, the English kind of.
30:34 --> 30:34 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
30:34 --> 30:36 [SPEAKER_06]: Like that was that point where I went like,
30:36 --> 30:38 [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah, I see it.
30:38 --> 30:39 [SPEAKER_06]: I know what they're talking about.
30:39 --> 30:42 [SPEAKER_02]: That's actually a little bit.
30:42 --> 30:43 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah.
30:43 --> 30:45 [SPEAKER_06]: 100% it was just hilarious to see.
30:45 --> 30:54 [SPEAKER_06]: And then see him fight Volcanica and get scared within the first like 30 seconds and just take it then.
30:54 --> 31:02 [SPEAKER_02]: Again, something that I really love about this, so they effectively, they do guess invincible down from earth to help the mesh with this battle.
31:02 --> 31:12 [SPEAKER_02]: He's the one that goes off and gets the crayon and he's kind of like, right, done my job, I need to go now at Satan starts to lose the fight and then calls for Mark to come in and win the fight for him.
31:12 --> 31:22 [SPEAKER_02]: It's almost like Satan even though he's very powerful now is going well, I'll just manipulate somebody else to do the job for me You know, it does feel like you know Satan is manipulated somebody else.
31:22 --> 31:37 [SPEAKER_02]: I love how it how it ends is basically Mark just keeps repeatedly punching the head off
31:37 --> 31:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Do we have a way to like put her in a cage somewhere is somebody can be able to do this and just trap her and eventually to just stop and melt herself into the lava and disappears for the moment So as they have they've ended the bottle unsightens taken back over hell then so yeah
31:54 --> 31:57 [SPEAKER_06]: but not for that long, right?
31:57 --> 32:00 [SPEAKER_06]: Like, that was a bit that I kinda took as like, huh?
32:00 --> 32:06 [SPEAKER_06]: So how long are they gonna keep her away?
32:06 --> 32:09 [SPEAKER_06]: Like, it was like, yeah, just, okay.
32:09 --> 32:30 [SPEAKER_02]: what just it feels like they're saying that that's the end of her time she's had her time as the leader he's got his crown back and she won't be some they can they can keep her at bay because they make the vial rise up then and then they have to vanquish the vial and once they've done that that's the end and they can they can move on so
32:30 --> 32:34 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's not a very satisfactory guarantee.
32:34 --> 32:36 [SPEAKER_02]: This is the end of volcanic moment.
32:37 --> 32:39 [SPEAKER_02]: And I do want to ask about that, because that's the post credit scene as well.
32:40 --> 32:41 [SPEAKER_02]: But it is an end.
32:41 --> 32:44 [SPEAKER_02]: They're basically saying, Rice Mark has done everything you can to keep her at bay.
32:45 --> 32:50 [SPEAKER_02]: We've finished with the vile and now Mark and Damien are sent back to Earth, right?
32:50 --> 32:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
32:51 --> 32:53 [SPEAKER_06]: And then they are there.
32:54 --> 33:00 [SPEAKER_06]: And then what I, so it's quickly just talk about it.
33:01 --> 33:08 [SPEAKER_06]: Mark the joke about Mark's suit, um, how he kind of had managed to keep it all in one piece.
33:09 --> 33:17 [SPEAKER_06]: Up until then, how when he gets back, uh, they think it is cos, and he's like, well, so he does pick up the yellow suit.
33:18 --> 33:23 [SPEAKER_06]: And you get that beautiful once again montage of him, happy.
33:23 --> 33:36 [SPEAKER_06]: flying and the way we tell he's happy because he does his like flight up and the gravity taken down and then right at that last minute, peak off before he hits the water.
33:37 --> 33:44 [SPEAKER_06]: Very reminiscent of one of the very earliest episodes when he's doing that.
33:44 --> 33:51 [SPEAKER_06]: So I read that was a nice
33:52 --> 34:12 [SPEAKER_06]: like if this is your this is our kind of episode where it's like hey we're gonna give you a break from all the other stuff so here's here's just a breather episode exactly and it's like it's the same for Mark the character it's a breather away from his
34:13 --> 34:19 [SPEAKER_06]: from everything, from all the pain, the suffering, and everything he's had to go to, given that he went to hell.
34:19 --> 34:20 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
34:21 --> 34:25 [SPEAKER_06]: And then you get him in his old shoes, and he's happy, and everything's good to go.
34:26 --> 34:27 [SPEAKER_06]: So I do enjoy that.
34:28 --> 34:49 [SPEAKER_02]: And then we normally talk about the post crevices on separate point crisp, but just because this is literally the continuation of the scene where Temmy and Darkblood being back on Earth and then him getting this message in his mind from Satan saying to investigate Volcanicus plan, she seemed to be very interested in Earth, maybe I should be interested in Earth too.
34:49 --> 34:54 [SPEAKER_02]: And there was something that was troubling Volcanica, it seemed about what was happening on Earth.
34:54 --> 34:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Now, I have a theory of this, but I may be completely and totally wrong.
34:58 --> 35:11 [SPEAKER_02]: But since you don't want to spoil anything that's coming up with the books, grant, and just the fighters that Volcanica has are the Magminites, who we've seen many, many times.
35:11 --> 35:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, a few, let's say a few times in the show.
35:14 --> 35:18 [SPEAKER_02]: We've seen the Magminites appear, uh, usually controlled by Doc seismic.
35:19 --> 35:26 [SPEAKER_02]: is what kind of a bit pissed off that her minions seem to be traveling to earth realm to fight on behalf of ducks is make it that's what's happening.
35:27 --> 35:31 [SPEAKER_02]: That's why theory that she's so echoing is connected to the guy.
35:31 --> 35:35 [SPEAKER_06]: I honestly like this is one where I was like, I don't know what this is.
35:35 --> 35:37 [SPEAKER_06]: I'm not there talking about it.
35:37 --> 35:37 [SPEAKER_06]: Right.
35:37 --> 35:41 [SPEAKER_06]: Um, because the whole Damien Darkwood this side of the storyline is brand new.
35:42 --> 35:42 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
35:42 --> 35:43 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, of course.
35:43 --> 35:45 [SPEAKER_06]: The only bit I could think of.
35:45 --> 35:57 [SPEAKER_06]: So straight away, my brand goes, oh, it's because of mine, because there is a power and ultramights on the planet and they are like,
35:58 --> 36:05 [SPEAKER_06]: where the opponents and could be corrupted and used against, et cetera, et cetera.
36:06 --> 36:10 [SPEAKER_06]: It could be, hmm, it's the end of this age and they're by to move into a new one.
36:10 --> 36:11 [SPEAKER_06]: But that's really, yeah.
36:11 --> 36:12 [SPEAKER_06]: Something like that.
36:13 --> 36:18 [SPEAKER_06]: The only, because this whole age thing is, to my understanding again, you're up.
36:18 --> 36:21 [SPEAKER_06]: Or it's something completely else.
36:21 --> 36:50 [SPEAKER_02]: So I was just thinking because Docs' eyes would keep appearing every couple of seasons, he appears like one episode of season that he's massively overpowered against Invincible gets taken out and then he can back the next season with something else I was thinking maybe this time he's going to come back with the whole minions from hell and supporting Docs' eyes because he pulls up all the way from this hell dimension rather than just magma from the centre of earth But maybe around maybe they just look the same and they're different, they're different beasts
36:51 --> 36:57 [SPEAKER_06]: My only other thought is could be, they could link it in to some connection with dinosaurus.
36:57 --> 37:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe there is a big storyline with dinosaurus, which I assume they will get to enter the season or the next one.
37:06 --> 37:09 [SPEAKER_02]: They don't get those characters and then they just disappear ever.
37:09 --> 37:14 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so it is potential that they're just going to link it in to that.
37:14 --> 37:32 [SPEAKER_06]: as a as a piece maybe I again it's one of these I'm interested to see because if this was a this was part of the writer's room I'd be like okay yeah the 100% those just link it into something yeah the fact that this is Robert Kirkman
37:32 --> 37:33 [SPEAKER_06]: himself.
37:33 --> 37:34 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
37:34 --> 37:38 [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like, oh, this kind of makes it way more interesting.
37:38 --> 37:38 [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
37:38 --> 37:41 [SPEAKER_06]: And in my head, he knows all the Lord.
37:41 --> 37:43 [SPEAKER_06]: He created the Lord.
37:43 --> 37:46 [SPEAKER_06]: So he can do something very interesting.
37:47 --> 37:58 [SPEAKER_02]: But I will say after reading every single issue of walking dead and reading a best of invincible one thing that Robert Kirkman really likes to do is set up stories and keep things interesting.
37:58 --> 38:00 [SPEAKER_02]: main I'll pay off every single thing that he writes.
38:01 --> 38:05 [SPEAKER_02]: So I love that, you know, Debbie Diplode disappeared at the end of season one.
38:05 --> 38:13 [SPEAKER_02]: We haven't really seen him other than that little post-creditsy and we were like, I wonder what's going to happen with us and then in this episode it also ends with the post-creditsy and where you're going.
38:13 --> 38:15 [SPEAKER_02]: I wonder what's going to happen with us?
38:14 --> 38:44 [SPEAKER_02]: and it may not play that's fair let's see let's see great stuff we have one more point about the episode to chat about which is just the ending the time for war two bits that are happening here one is Eve has had a conversation with William welcome back with him to tell him that she's pregnant yeah and this is this is a good one like it sets up what is going to
38:44 --> 39:05 [SPEAKER_06]: It's, it's, as you said, welcome back, William has been a strong character since the beginning of this show, found a verse, but also just because he is thus comedic foil to usually a more dark situation that's happening, so the DA's and Claire situation that happens.
39:05 --> 39:18 [SPEAKER_06]: like he is that kind of comedic element and it's good, but he still makes a few jokes here, but also helps move E forwards towards the resolution which is she's going to tell Mark.
39:19 --> 39:20 [SPEAKER_06]: And that's nice.
39:20 --> 39:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, exactly.
39:21 --> 39:25 [SPEAKER_02]: I love that he does have that comedy moment of all congratulations on so happy for you.
39:25 --> 39:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh I didn't even check are you okay with it?
39:30 --> 39:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Really good at new actor playing the role of William for this episode I don't think we're we're gonna see a huge amount of in this season, but now now played by Brandon Scott Jones Playing William in this in this episode
39:44 --> 39:46 [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I think it's just because he appears in there.
39:46 --> 39:49 [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's Andrew Randall's, who used to play the character in the past.
39:49 --> 39:52 [SPEAKER_02]: But this is the new actor play game.
39:52 --> 39:54 [SPEAKER_02]: And again, I'm not sure whether we're gonna see a huge manned with him.
39:54 --> 39:57 [SPEAKER_02]: They're not really around each other very often.
39:57 --> 40:01 [SPEAKER_02]: So that may have just needed somebody to come in and deliver at this moment for.
40:01 --> 40:08 [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, she plucks up the courage, sits outside at Mark and sits down to chat with him to tell him the news about her pregnancy.
40:08 --> 40:10 [SPEAKER_02]: And, well, guess what?
40:10 --> 40:27 [SPEAKER_02]: Daddy knows and and Alan the alien arrive back on earth and have something massively important to tell Mark Which is guess what we're going to war and it's just delivered in that beautiful shot which is just
40:28 --> 40:51 [SPEAKER_06]: Nolan and Alan just silhouetted floating in the kind of sky and you see them think and it is that very much classic superman kind of panel even where you just have them kind of just we would have superman say we actually got it in superman.
40:52 --> 40:56 [SPEAKER_06]: like foreboding shots, that's just beautiful looking.
40:57 --> 41:01 [SPEAKER_06]: And it perfectly sets up the next episode, but it's just going to be okay.
41:01 --> 41:03 [SPEAKER_06]: One more back to the races for the little joint war.
41:03 --> 41:06 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, let's go, let's go get it done.
41:07 --> 41:07 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
41:07 --> 41:08 [SPEAKER_06]: Um, which...
41:09 --> 41:13 [SPEAKER_06]: If it goes anything like the comic books, it's going to be a fun episode.
41:13 --> 41:14 [SPEAKER_02]: I am sure.
41:14 --> 41:19 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we are definitely going to be talking about that very soon because as I said, we are a week delayed at Bosch.
41:19 --> 41:22 [SPEAKER_02]: We will be talking about episode five next time.
41:22 --> 41:37 [SPEAKER_02]: And one thing I did want to mention here is I had a chance to go back and watch a couple of a couple of the early episodes and season of something that it's check out that I couldn't remember about, about Alan and his, his origin.
41:37 --> 41:40 [SPEAKER_02]: I haven't been the one compliment in the animation.
41:40 --> 41:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Chris, you have complimented the animation, or listeners have complimented the animation.
41:44 --> 41:50 [SPEAKER_02]: It's only when I look back at the animation for season one season two that I realize how far it is comes since then.
41:50 --> 41:59 [SPEAKER_02]: The first couple of seasons almost feel like a flip comic book at times in comparison to how amazing the
41:59 --> 42:00 [SPEAKER_02]: animation is now.
42:00 --> 42:05 [SPEAKER_02]: The style they're using the models for the characters that they've come on leaps and bands.
42:05 --> 42:06 [SPEAKER_02]: I just hadn't noticed this.
42:06 --> 42:13 [SPEAKER_02]: It's like when you play a video game, they haven't played since you were a kid and you go, wow, this used to look like a film really realistic.
42:14 --> 42:16 [SPEAKER_02]: It was like a kid but it just boxes on screen.
42:18 --> 42:22 [SPEAKER_02]: Not to say it was bad but at the time it felt great.
42:22 --> 42:27 [SPEAKER_02]: Now it's incredible and I'm sure by the time we get to season
42:27 --> 42:40 [SPEAKER_06]: further down I don't even more incredible so I want you to give it a bit of a compliment for the animation nostalgia is a hell of a joke you're a memory of things I will say Batman Arkham and silent
42:41 --> 42:46 [SPEAKER_06]: the video game does not look as great as you think it does in your brain.
42:46 --> 42:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're putting the visuals from Batman Arkham Knight on top of your memory of Arkham a son of a, I'd say.
42:52 --> 42:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
42:52 --> 42:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
42:52 --> 42:53 [SPEAKER_02]: It's a hundred percent.
42:53 --> 42:53 [SPEAKER_02]: It's still plays.
42:53 --> 42:54 [SPEAKER_02]: It's still plays.
42:54 --> 42:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's still fun.
42:56 --> 42:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
42:57 --> 42:59 [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't look the same as it does in your mind.
43:00 --> 43:00 [SPEAKER_02]: Definitely.
43:00 --> 43:00 [SPEAKER_02]: No.
43:02 --> 43:11 [SPEAKER_06]: But Derek, I do want to get you overall, overall thoughts for this episode as we wrap up.
43:11 --> 43:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, overall, I like this episode.
43:13 --> 43:16 [SPEAKER_02]: It's a bit of a detour episode because we were delayed.
43:16 --> 43:18 [SPEAKER_02]: I was able to watch it for a third time.
43:18 --> 43:20 [SPEAKER_02]: I was, I was jotting down on my notes.
43:21 --> 43:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Why did we have this episode?
43:23 --> 43:25 [SPEAKER_02]: It's not just to have a detour at the hell.
43:25 --> 43:27 [SPEAKER_02]: It's not just to tell the story of Damien Darkblood.
43:27 --> 43:55 [SPEAKER_02]: And really the important part of this, while there is some cool animations, some great fight scenes and that kind of stuff, the really important parts of the episode at the discussion with Ars at the beginning, telling Mark, he's not becoming his father, the discussion with Damian Darkblood, talking about the fact that you need to do the best you possibly can, and the mythology of hell that's telling humans to do the best they can to make earth heaven, which is what
43:55 --> 43:57 [SPEAKER_02]: gives Mark a little bit of hope again.
43:58 --> 43:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Those things are really important.
44:00 --> 44:06 [SPEAKER_02]: And then the discussion at the end, obviously, the arrival of Nolan had to tell Mark that he's going off to war.
44:06 --> 44:07 [SPEAKER_02]: So those are the important bits.
44:08 --> 44:09 [SPEAKER_02]: There's some cool bits around.
44:09 --> 44:13 [SPEAKER_02]: It's not the greatest of episodes, probably one of my least favorite of the season.
44:13 --> 44:15 [SPEAKER_02]: So far, it's been a great season overall.
44:15 --> 44:20 [SPEAKER_02]: But there's a lot of important things do happen within the episode.
44:20 --> 44:21 [SPEAKER_02]: So where are the overall?
44:21 --> 44:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Happy to South Chris, what do you think of this?
44:23 --> 44:37 [SPEAKER_06]: okay i'm actually right there with you it's like it's not the best episode season it's probably one of the weakest just that it is such so
44:38 --> 44:50 [SPEAKER_06]: disjoined it, but, and by disjoining, I mean, away from the main narrative, that the one thing about this show is it goes hard on narrative and story very fast.
44:50 --> 44:56 [SPEAKER_06]: They can dance quite a lot from quite a lot of pages into a couple of scenes.
44:56 --> 44:57 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
44:59 --> 45:03 [SPEAKER_06]: So, but what I did enjoy, like you said,
45:04 --> 45:11 [SPEAKER_06]: new bit of lore, new bit of kind of invincible canon that is being built by the original creator.
45:12 --> 45:19 [SPEAKER_06]: And I found a fascinating because I was like, oh, how will this play a further
45:19 --> 45:21 [SPEAKER_06]: But also, oh, they're doing this.
45:22 --> 45:23 [SPEAKER_06]: We have season five.
45:24 --> 45:28 [SPEAKER_06]: Are they going to do another while we're curtain special in season five, season six?
45:28 --> 45:37 [SPEAKER_06]: Like, are they going to give us these little bit of brand new bits of kind of story and narrative?
45:37 --> 45:40 [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like, oh, this is all very cool.
45:40 --> 45:44 [SPEAKER_06]: So overall, it was good.
45:44 --> 45:47 [SPEAKER_06]: Like, and as good as great.
45:47 --> 45:49 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, good, it's good, yes.
45:49 --> 45:53 [SPEAKER_06]: Good, it's good, it's like, it just, it was a good episode.
45:54 --> 45:58 [SPEAKER_06]: I can't fault it, just comparative to the rest of the season.
45:59 --> 46:01 [SPEAKER_06]: It's just a bit slower, but different.
46:01 --> 46:02 [SPEAKER_06]: So,
46:02 --> 46:04 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, no, it was good, it was really good.
46:04 --> 46:05 [SPEAKER_02]: Fantastic.
46:05 --> 46:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know what, maybe last more.
46:06 --> 46:08 [SPEAKER_02]: I was editing the podcast.
46:08 --> 46:31 [SPEAKER_02]: I think when the episode came out, or just I've just finished editing the podcast when I saw this episode for the first time, and I was laughing that you made the comment that sometimes the show feels like you're just waiting for the thing to happen, that you know this going to happen, and unless something's net new and you don't know what's coming up, it's going to feel like that sometimes, and then this next episode is something that's absolutely brand new to you.
46:31 --> 46:32 [SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was great.
46:32 --> 46:34 [SPEAKER_02]: It was like you'd notice Chris.
46:35 --> 46:35 [SPEAKER_02]: Excellent stuff.
46:36 --> 46:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's get onto a little bit of feedback of the set from our wonderful fellow Guardians.
46:40 --> 46:46 [SPEAKER_02]: First up, coffee and vodka sent to the email into us to feedback at TV podcast industries saying greetings fellow hell band defenders.
46:47 --> 46:48 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, hell Satan, I guess.
46:48 --> 46:50 [SPEAKER_02]: This was really fun.
46:50 --> 46:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Glad the tale was finally able to be told, especially with freakin' Bruce Campbell as Prince Adirtonous.
46:55 --> 46:59 [SPEAKER_02]: This, in addition to Kansy-Brand and Kate Mulgrew, we are not worthy.
46:59 --> 47:06 [SPEAKER_02]: The helmet conversation was priceless, and Damien's revelation to a mind already as overburdened as marks a bit of a risk.
47:06 --> 47:10 [SPEAKER_02]: Still, he seemed to benefit from the trip, for as long as he was able to enjoy it.
47:11 --> 47:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Truly a time of content based riches.
47:13 --> 47:23 [SPEAKER_02]: I agree with Derek about the pregnancy trope, and I'm glad they're keeping the issue somewhat at bay, looking forward to seeing no and Debbie Poll and the boys, enjoying a pleasant family dinner together.
47:23 --> 47:31 [SPEAKER_02]: 4.5 dropping comments, necking oldsters and unplanned arrivals out of 5, peace and take care coffee and vodka.
47:31 --> 47:37 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I definitely don't think melon, Debbie, pole and the boys are going to be sitting dead sitting there anytime soon.
47:37 --> 47:38 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, probably not.
47:39 --> 47:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to our home.
47:41 --> 47:43 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, probably not.
47:43 --> 47:52 [SPEAKER_06]: Thanks coffee and vodka and yes, the the Hamlet conversation we talked about it already, but it is one of the standards for this episode.
47:52 --> 47:58 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, and just love the idea that if Satan appeared in the form of Bruce Campbell, you would worship him.
47:58 --> 47:59 [SPEAKER_02]: That's Larry's.
48:02 --> 48:02 [SPEAKER_06]: Hi.
48:02 --> 48:03 [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, hello, Bruce.
48:04 --> 48:05 [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you, coffee and vodka.
48:05 --> 48:08 [SPEAKER_06]: Over on Discord, we also got some feedback from Dr. Bob.
48:08 --> 48:09 [SPEAKER_06]: You had this to say.
48:10 --> 48:11 [SPEAKER_06]: So what did we learn this week?
48:11 --> 48:13 [SPEAKER_06]: Heaven's sort of real, but isn't.
48:13 --> 48:16 [SPEAKER_06]: Satan is Ursula, the sea, which is Cambrian Goprother.
48:17 --> 48:20 [SPEAKER_06]: Monnier has a flaming demonic twin.
48:20 --> 48:25 [SPEAKER_06]: Eve is going to have to schedule an invincible inconsistency to discuss the pregnancy.
48:25 --> 48:31 [SPEAKER_06]: And until it sounds green, Paul ain't got no pancakes.
48:31 --> 48:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Still no pancakes for Paul.
48:33 --> 48:35 [SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to create a placard for that, Dr. Bob.
48:36 --> 48:37 [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, no pancakes.
48:37 --> 48:38 [SPEAKER_06]: No pancakes for you.
48:38 --> 48:39 [SPEAKER_06]: Even on pancakes Tuesday.
48:39 --> 48:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
48:40 --> 48:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
48:41 --> 48:42 [SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, Dr. Bob.
48:43 --> 48:43 [SPEAKER_06]: Thanks, Dr. Bob.
48:43 --> 48:57 [SPEAKER_06]: We also have another piece of feedback from Richard Blaze over on Discord as well, who at this to say, mainly filler, a little bit of an odd episode, whilst it is doing a decent story, it seems out of place in the season.
48:58 --> 49:04 [SPEAKER_06]: may have been better as an episode 1 to tie up from the end of season 3 and then leaving into this season.
49:05 --> 49:09 [SPEAKER_06]: It's great to see Damian Bach and to Hubbrus Campbell playing the same.
49:09 --> 49:13 [SPEAKER_06]: Only a matter of time considering his continued deans with a necronomical.
49:14 --> 49:19 [SPEAKER_06]: For kind of a scene like fun, it was just a generic bad guy of the week.
49:19 --> 49:22 [SPEAKER_06]: So far, so I wonder if she'll come back.
49:23 --> 49:29 [SPEAKER_06]: with the end having no amount popping up at least we shall be back to normal next week.
49:29 --> 49:31 [SPEAKER_06]: Bit of a dead misfire for me this week.
49:31 --> 49:32 [SPEAKER_06]: Thanks Richard.
49:32 --> 49:38 [SPEAKER_06]: Yes Bruce playing Satan does make sense when you think of all the evil to add activity.
49:38 --> 49:42 [SPEAKER_06]: Or you could just say that this is evil, evil,
49:42 --> 49:46 [SPEAKER_06]: Bruce, basically there's the one from where are we of darkness?
49:46 --> 49:49 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe, maybe yes, this is the evil ash.
49:49 --> 49:53 [SPEAKER_02]: This is invincible, evil dead, invincible, something like that, great stuff.
49:53 --> 50:00 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, as I say, it's not like there's still some good stuff in this episode, but not the greatest of episodes.
50:00 --> 50:03 [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I just don't count out any character anymore.
50:03 --> 50:09 [SPEAKER_02]: There's about a hundred of them that could appear in next episode or an episode in season five or season eight or season 25.
50:09 --> 50:12 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, loads of characters on the table.
50:12 --> 50:16 [SPEAKER_02]: We could easily see if I'll kind of come back in some shape or form in the future.
50:16 --> 50:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Earth could be on fire with the battle between Satan and Volcanica next episode.
50:21 --> 50:28 [SPEAKER_02]: You just have no idea what's going on coming up, but at least there was some good voice work going on.
50:28 --> 50:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Thanks very much, Richard.
50:30 --> 50:33 [SPEAKER_02]: We also have some final feedback in from Joe Herbert on this episode.
50:33 --> 50:34 [SPEAKER_02]: Raining blood from Slayer.
50:34 --> 50:36 [SPEAKER_02]: What a perfect song for this episode.
50:36 --> 50:40 [SPEAKER_02]: would not have guessed the Kate Moldry was the voice of Domina Darkblood.
50:40 --> 50:42 [SPEAKER_02]: I had to check who it was.
50:42 --> 50:46 [SPEAKER_02]: It was a bit of a slower break from the usual storylines, not great, but interesting enough, I guess.
50:48 --> 50:51 [SPEAKER_02]: That sounds very similar to what I was saying, Jordan.
50:51 --> 50:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
50:52 --> 50:53 [SPEAKER_06]: But it does.
50:53 --> 50:53 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
50:53 --> 50:54 [SPEAKER_06]: Most of what everyone is saying.
50:54 --> 50:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but at least when you boil the down, there's some very important things that do happen in the episode.
50:59 --> 51:07 [SPEAKER_02]: Not that is required sometimes in TV shows, you have to have an episode that it just is there to functionally move you from where they were to where they're going.
51:08 --> 51:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
