Episode Synopsis:

Simon and Trevor celebrate their call back at a bar in town, but Simon becomes anxious. Trevor guides him through a breathing exercise while he ignores calls from Agent Cleary, who is pressured to close the case soon.

The two are cornered by a drug dealer, Patrick Connor, that Trevor owes money to, forcing Simon to use his powers to incapacitate him and his henchmen.

But after Simon's use of his powers, they spot a boy who has recorded it with his GoPro, and the two give chase to retrieve the footage. In the car, they read a scene sent by Janelle where Trevor's character, sidekick Barnaby, betrays Wonder Man for a price.

They spot the bicycle courier, Jayden, and follow him into a club. He tells them that he will erase the footage if Simon uses his powers to help him get back his stolen motorbike from a man named Esteban.

Arriving at Esteban's house, Esteban tells them that Jayden is lying. Connor and his men return and hold Jayden hostage at gun point in exchange for Trevor. Trevor convinces Jayden to give him the footage so he could delete it.

With all the commotion, the police arrive and engage in a gunfight with Connor's men; Jayden escapes and reconciles with Esteban. Simon and Trevor flee and learn from Janelle that Kovak wants their call back at his home now.

03:54 --> 03:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Pokerface, it's a really, really fun episode.
03:58 --> 04:02 [SPEAKER_03]: If you have much Pokerface, I'd say check it out episode specifically because it's that good.
04:02 --> 04:03 [SPEAKER_03]: Really good fun.
04:03 --> 04:06 [SPEAKER_03]: We're Charlie joins the rock band as a rodey.
04:06 --> 04:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, or as T-shirt girl.
04:07 --> 04:08 [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, T-shirt.
04:08 --> 04:08 [SPEAKER_03]: T-shirt.
04:08 --> 04:10 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
04:10 --> 04:17 [SPEAKER_03]: The episode is written by Anay Fakra who wrote the nice agent and worked on off from black echoes with Christian Rishar.
04:18 --> 04:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Why am I mentioning Christian Rishar specifically here?
04:21 --> 04:24 [SPEAKER_01]: What I don't know, it might be something that's due with season two, does it?
04:24 --> 04:25 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, it is.
04:25 --> 04:29 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, Jessica Jones is returning in just about six weeks time.
04:29 --> 04:34 [SPEAKER_03]: Actually, he'll be in and Daredevil season two.
04:35 --> 04:35 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't care.
04:35 --> 04:37 [SPEAKER_03]: I'd rather have just have Kristen Riddle.
04:37 --> 04:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I'll just have Kristen Riddle on her own.
04:39 --> 04:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be crazy.
04:40 --> 04:41 [SPEAKER_01]: I won't be.
04:41 --> 04:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Both have both.
04:42 --> 04:47 [SPEAKER_03]: I'd say he may return, but probably be in the Jessica Jones reboot series.
04:48 --> 04:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that'll be us.
04:49 --> 04:51 [SPEAKER_03]: But I was so excited to see Kristen Riddle return.
04:52 --> 04:52 [SPEAKER_03]: That's really cool.
04:52 --> 04:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Both the riser here and a Fakera did work on the series, or from Black Echoes with Kristen Riddle.
04:58 --> 04:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
04:58 --> 04:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Nice connection there.
04:59 --> 05:00 [SPEAKER_05]: Great stuff.
05:01 --> 05:01 [SPEAKER_05]: John.
05:02 --> 05:08 [SPEAKER_05]: Based on all that great stuff do you want to tell us what they gave us with your synopsis for this episode?
05:08 --> 05:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
05:09 --> 05:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Simon and Trevor celebrate their call back at a bar in town, but Simon becomes anxious.
05:14 --> 05:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Trevor guides him through a breathing exercise while he ignores calls from Agent Cleary, who is pressured to close the case soon.
05:22 --> 05:26 [SPEAKER_01]: The two are cornered outside the bar by a drug dealer, Patrick Connor.
05:26 --> 05:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Trevor owes money to, forcing Simon to use his power to incapacitate him and his henchmen.
05:33 --> 05:40 [SPEAKER_01]: But after Simon's use of his powers, they spot a boy who has recorded it with his GoPro, and the two give chase to retrieve the footage.
05:41 --> 05:48 [SPEAKER_01]: In the car they read a scene sent by Janelle where Trevor's character sidekick Barnaby portrays Wonderland for a price.
05:48 --> 05:52 [SPEAKER_01]: They spot the bicycle career, Jaden, and follow him into a club.
05:53 --> 06:01 [SPEAKER_01]: He tells him that he will erase the footage if Simon uses his powers to help him get back his stolen motorbike from a man named Esteban.
06:02 --> 06:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Arriving at Esteban's house, Esteban tells them that Jaden is lying, Connor and his man return and hold Jaden hostage at gunpoint in exchange for Trevor.
06:12 --> 06:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Trevor convinced his Jaden to give him the footage so he could delete it.
06:16 --> 06:21 [SPEAKER_01]: With all the commotion the police arrive and engage in a gong fight with Connor's men.
06:21 --> 06:35 [SPEAKER_01]: The Aiden escapes and reconciles with Esteban Simon and Trevor flee and learn from
06:35 --> 06:36 [SPEAKER_05]: What an episode.
06:36 --> 06:43 [SPEAKER_05]: There's a lot to discuss so I think we should get straight into it
06:43 --> 06:44 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, yeah.
06:44 --> 06:47 [SPEAKER_03]: It's interesting, isn't it, though, that this is the shortest episode this season.
06:47 --> 06:53 [SPEAKER_03]: It's 26 minutes, I think, including the previously armed and the credits at the end of the episode.
06:53 --> 06:59 [SPEAKER_03]: So, shortest episode, but the tension ramps up so much at the end that's so much feels like it's going on and really, really good.
07:00 --> 07:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, definitely, this to me is a phenomenal episode.
07:04 --> 07:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely just loved every moment of it.
07:09 --> 07:21 [SPEAKER_05]: Yep, this will be one of my favorites, and we're gonna discuss why with our top three takes Go on set take one action
07:22 --> 07:24 [SPEAKER_05]: So gentlemen, let's discuss take one.
07:25 --> 07:34 [SPEAKER_05]: The drug deal gone bad because for me this was such a great Okay, I'm the power is guy.
07:34 --> 07:36 [SPEAKER_05]: I love the superhero elements.
07:36 --> 07:49 [SPEAKER_05]: I really enjoy like seeing Spider-Man swing and Iron Man fly and cap Throw a shield Punch Nazis in the face And Nick Fury
07:51 --> 07:52 [SPEAKER_05]: be Nick Fury.
07:52 --> 07:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Being alive for a very long time.
07:54 --> 07:55 [SPEAKER_03]: They remember exactly.
07:55 --> 07:56 [SPEAKER_03]: We caught up frozen in ice.
07:57 --> 08:01 [SPEAKER_03]: And Nick Fury was fighting in the war with them and was still alive when he came back.
08:02 --> 08:04 [SPEAKER_03]: So that's how old Nick Fury is.
08:04 --> 08:06 [SPEAKER_05]: Sure.
08:07 --> 08:07 [SPEAKER_05]: He got it.
08:07 --> 08:08 [SPEAKER_05]: I loved he.
08:08 --> 08:10 [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, not in the MCU, yeah, you're right.
08:10 --> 08:15 [SPEAKER_05]: Not in the MCU, but anyway, I enjoyed this for a multitude of things.
08:15 --> 08:24 [SPEAKER_05]: Like, it is really just a pirate showcase, but it well done in universe in series, well done version of a pirate showcase.
08:24 --> 08:30 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think that was the thing I enjoyed about which is you get to see how Simon can.
08:30 --> 08:50 [SPEAKER_05]: kind of use his power set or whatever we're thinking it might be to do and then but we also just get to see it kind of very fun interaction because this is all about good old Trev Owen the Loderman for a lot of blow back in the 70s.
08:50 --> 08:53 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, back in the 70s, like it's only 13 years ago, Chris.
08:53 --> 08:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, back in the time of Iron Man 3, right?
08:56 --> 08:58 [SPEAKER_03]: I think I worked this out in the job.
08:58 --> 09:02 [SPEAKER_03]: We were sitting in the cage that Trev keeps saying over and over again.
09:02 --> 09:07 [SPEAKER_03]: I've been sober now for 13 years and all that is is Iron Man 3 happened in 2013.
09:08 --> 09:08 [SPEAKER_03]: It's now 2026.
09:09 --> 09:13 [SPEAKER_03]: So they're just saying, since Iron Man 3 since you saw him, that is absolute worst.
09:13 --> 09:16 [SPEAKER_03]: full of coke and surrounded by hookers.
09:17 --> 09:24 [SPEAKER_03]: He hasn't had a drink since then, partly because, well, he was in prison and then he was in a pocket universe and was captured by the real Mandarin.
09:24 --> 09:27 [SPEAKER_03]: So, he didn't really have access to watch alcohol and drugs.
09:27 --> 09:31 [SPEAKER_03]: But, yes, our take number one is the drug deal gum bad.
09:31 --> 09:35 [SPEAKER_03]: It's this guy Patrick Connor, who comes into the pub where
09:35 --> 09:45 [SPEAKER_03]: where a Trevor and Simon are celebrating sort of, buys a drink for Trevor and Trevor thinks he's a guy that he did an off-off-white-off Broadway play with a couple of years ago.
09:46 --> 09:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, just hilarious.
09:47 --> 09:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
09:48 --> 09:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Now absolutely, this is really good.
09:50 --> 09:52 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think...
09:52 --> 09:56 [SPEAKER_01]: because it starts off with just that kind of usual setup, doesn't it?
09:56 --> 10:03 [SPEAKER_01]: It's you've got Trevor trying to calm down Simon using overthinking everything, you know, he's getting stressed.
10:03 --> 10:13 [SPEAKER_01]: I like, you know, like you say, the power set we kind of get a repeat bit of power set here with the rippling in the whiskey, a bit Jurassic Park S, but it's kind of like,
10:13 --> 10:22 [SPEAKER_01]: I then just suddenly goes into this, you know, and someone gets, it's a bar and someone gets the man or the drink and it's like, well, who is this person?
10:23 --> 10:34 [SPEAKER_01]: And because Simon doesn't know clearly and Trevor's trying to sort of work things out and you have Patrick Conner say, well, you don't remember it.
10:35 --> 10:37 [SPEAKER_01]: Remember me and I love, yeah, just this
10:38 --> 10:42 [SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like gap filling from Trevor.
10:42 --> 10:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, what was it, Hurley Burley and American Buffalo?
10:47 --> 10:56 [SPEAKER_01]: And I just love the coat here in the edit and it cuts to the right hook of Patrick Garner hitting Trevor.
10:57 --> 11:01 [SPEAKER_01]: And it's so really well conceived.
11:02 --> 11:08 [SPEAKER_01]: But it's just time perfectly by Trevor Patrick, the coat, the director, everything.
11:09 --> 11:16 [SPEAKER_01]: And you see Trevor getting beaten
11:17 --> 11:19 [SPEAKER_01]: It's just so good.
11:19 --> 11:25 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even I think after he's used his powers to kind of rescue Trevor.
11:26 --> 11:29 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, I really did want to do this.
11:29 --> 11:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Trevor's just like, I'm really glad you did.
11:33 --> 11:38 [SPEAKER_01]: So all of it is just absolutely pitch perfect.
11:38 --> 11:45 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, and we use the quote at the beginning because the timing of the of where Simon's saying I don't want to do this.
11:45 --> 11:47 [SPEAKER_03]: I could get in real trouble here to ever go and don't worry about it.
11:47 --> 11:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Nobody saw anything and then you just hear the bicycle bell go.
11:50 --> 11:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Just a great company timing, yes really really good fun and you're right Chris you know that we don't we don't really Understand Simon's power is at all here.
11:59 --> 12:00 [SPEAKER_03]: We know he's powerful.
12:01 --> 12:04 [SPEAKER_03]: We know he can he's strong He can destroy things.
12:04 --> 12:15 [SPEAKER_03]: We know that his eyes turn purple when he gets stressed and starts to get worked up into this Power set, but there's even a joke about it when they go in chase and try to chase down the bicycle Gary here's Trevor going
12:15 --> 12:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Do you have super speed?
12:16 --> 12:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Did he go?
12:17 --> 12:19 [SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm going to get my car and there you go.
12:19 --> 12:21 [SPEAKER_03]: He goes, but do you have super speed?
12:22 --> 12:27 [SPEAKER_03]: So he's trying to work out what his, what his parents are, but I really like the, that they're playing with that as well.
12:27 --> 12:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
12:28 --> 12:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the, the bike belt was just like cherry on top.
12:33 --> 12:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
12:34 --> 12:34 [SPEAKER_01]: So good.
12:34 --> 12:36 [SPEAKER_05]: Do you slide aside?
12:37 --> 12:45 [SPEAKER_05]: Do you think we're going to get an origin flashback because we've already had one flashback scene because like a lot of these shows do a flashback episode flashback scene.
12:45 --> 12:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
12:45 --> 13:04 [SPEAKER_05]: So we had one with the dormant, but do you think we're going to get like Simon falling into a battle of go or something like that.
13:05 --> 13:17 [SPEAKER_05]: It's not, it's unusual for like any of our shows to just not kind of give some kind of explanation for the likes of us.
13:18 --> 13:20 [SPEAKER_05]: You kind of go, I don't know how they got them.
13:21 --> 13:23 [SPEAKER_03]: It feels like as a character,
13:23 --> 13:43 [SPEAKER_03]: Simon's very closed off and doesn't talk to anybody about this, so there may be a moment where he actually fully unloads his story with Trevor as they get closer and closer, so I think that might be the way that they'll do it, he'll finally tell him when I was a kid such and such happened to me and ever since then I've had to keep this secret, you know, maybe that's the way they'll do it.
13:43 --> 13:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Because, yeah, the Dorman origin episode is really just about the claws in all contracts and Hollywood.
13:49 --> 13:58 [SPEAKER_03]: It's something that serves this struggling actor and why he wants to keep his parents hidden, which is, again, the basis of this entire episode.
13:58 --> 14:01 [SPEAKER_03]: If we didn't have the Dorman episode last episode,
14:01 --> 14:15 [SPEAKER_03]: we wouldn't realize why this is so important to Simon that he chases down this person that could have videoed him using his super paris, you know, if we didn't have that real focus on the dormant clause last episode, we wouldn't need this here.
14:15 --> 14:21 [SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know whether they'll do a flashback episode yeah, giving the full explanation.
14:21 --> 14:30 [SPEAKER_05]: Just because they did include rocks on as part of that dormant
14:30 --> 14:32 [SPEAKER_05]: Rocks on is involved here.
14:32 --> 14:34 [SPEAKER_03]: I created Superheroes all over LA.
14:35 --> 14:41 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, could find something silly like that or like We find it like we fly and know the flashback.
14:41 --> 14:52 [SPEAKER_05]: We see Simon going to the same like club as the dormant or like he was a barman there for a brief period or something
14:52 --> 15:09 [SPEAKER_05]: something connecting it just it was just because I find it so interesting to see his powers at here because it is similar but somewhat different than the comic books and it's very much how I kind of be interesting to see what they do with it.
15:10 --> 15:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, although we do know that Simon's had as Paris since he was a kid, right, because we know about the kitchen explosion, where he came at, safe from that explosion, right.
15:21 --> 15:25 [SPEAKER_03]: We don't know whether other Paris have developed, we know he's super strong.
15:25 --> 15:27 [SPEAKER_03]: and he can fight from this episode.
15:27 --> 15:29 [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, it's all kind of vague isn't it?
15:29 --> 15:34 [SPEAKER_03]: It's all kind of in the background and it's all more about these two characters and their relationships.
15:34 --> 15:40 [SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know, it doesn't feel like a traditional MCU show that we're gonna get the flashback to how it all started.
15:40 --> 15:48 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think at the end of the day that would be two flashback episodes in a sense, they've given Dormann his flashback episodes and his origin story.
15:49 --> 16:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I think the fact that Wonderman is a lesser known character, I think it becomes less important about the skill set and how he acquires it, rather than just showing the skill set.
16:01 --> 16:05 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think, again, maybe it's just about the present or
16:05 --> 16:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Presentism, I guess, of what's happening in this and that's all that really kind of going to show really unless it's just in dialogue and I think I mean the thing that strikes me actually from this fight is
16:21 --> 16:26 [SPEAKER_01]: There is an element of control that he has on his pants, which is kind of interesting.
16:27 --> 16:44 [SPEAKER_01]: And even in the bar, we see him kind of getting worked up and the ripple now is kind of pulled back with the box breathing and so on from Trevor, but out there, he kind of utilizes his powers purposefully
16:44 --> 16:47 [SPEAKER_01]: to stop them from attacking his friend.
16:47 --> 16:50 [SPEAKER_01]: So there's an element of control that he's got on the power.
16:50 --> 16:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah.
16:51 --> 16:53 [SPEAKER_01]: And it's not like an enemy.
16:53 --> 16:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Chavez say from the universe of madness.
16:55 --> 16:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
16:55 --> 16:58 [SPEAKER_01]: And so it's kind of interesting that.
16:58 --> 17:01 [SPEAKER_03]: And we see all of Patrick Conner's men come back at the end of the episode.
17:01 --> 17:02 [SPEAKER_03]: So he hasn't killed anybody either.
17:02 --> 17:05 [SPEAKER_03]: So he does have some control over these pirates, right?
17:05 --> 17:13 [SPEAKER_03]: remember he destroyed a marble at the marble top and as well I'm saying he probably could have killed one of Patrick Carter's men if he didn't have some control.
17:13 --> 17:30 [SPEAKER_03]: So I wonder maybe there's going to be a moment some time later in the show where he has to draw back on the pairs that he has he has to think about the pairs that he has so he can use him and the upcoming movie or in the in the audition that's coming up maybe some of that might be a pusher
17:30 --> 17:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Really love this moment though this reveal of the powers in the in the drug deal gun bad anything else on there on our take number one Nothing for myself.
17:38 --> 17:39 [SPEAKER_01]: No nothing for me.
17:39 --> 17:58 [SPEAKER_05]: I think we should get into our second take take to action So We move from the alleyway to the Hollywood car chase You're a unique take on the Hollywood car chase
17:59 --> 18:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, is there anything more Hollywood?
18:01 --> 18:06 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, we haven't driving on the path or the sidewalk, I guess, to catch up with the bicycle curry.
18:06 --> 18:12 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, he's going through downtown traffic in LA and Hollywood, but he's also reading sides.
18:13 --> 18:15 [SPEAKER_03]: There's going to tempt scripts that they're getting for their follow-up audition.
18:15 --> 18:25 [SPEAKER_03]: They're reading those in the car while they're driving on the sidewalk while they're trying to catch up with his bike curry, like, could it really be any more Hollywood than that?
18:25 --> 18:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, even the fact that it, you know, forebodes the potential portrayal of Trevor will be a sign.
18:34 --> 18:37 [SPEAKER_01]: So I like the fact that it's like going, that scene's intense.
18:37 --> 18:43 [SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of like, you know, life imitates art, art imitates life kind of thing in that moment.
18:43 --> 18:43 [SPEAKER_01]: But
18:43 --> 19:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they're the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
19:13 --> 19:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Simon's going to say, put, put the scripts down.
19:16 --> 19:20 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, put the sides down and start looking for him and he's looking around.
19:20 --> 19:28 [SPEAKER_01]: He goes, I found him just from looking around and it's just absolutely.
19:29 --> 19:29 [SPEAKER_01]: quality.
19:29 --> 19:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Who would have looked at her and where?
19:31 --> 19:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
19:32 --> 19:35 [SPEAKER_01]: It was so funny.
19:35 --> 19:42 [SPEAKER_05]: I really wish we had a got you know that typical we're going to drive through two guys moving a sheet of glass.
19:42 --> 19:43 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
19:44 --> 19:47 [SPEAKER_05]: I was expecting or at least some version of that gag.
19:47 --> 19:50 [SPEAKER_05]: Like and or just like
19:50 --> 20:13 [SPEAKER_05]: Like someone to run into plexiglass or just something but anyway, it was a fun chase But like yes, the I found him just looking around Good It's very much why I really enjoy this back and forth of this like dynamic duo kind of take between the two yeah, it is just so fun
20:13 --> 20:26 [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's just the job of the writers for the show trying to find funny moments and things that you've seen so many times before, you know, what you were mentioning there, Chris, that's kind of what they did in 21 Jump Street, right?
20:26 --> 20:32 [SPEAKER_03]: That was the, that was finding every single joke you could possibly find in seeing the same type of carchets as here.
20:33 --> 20:38 [SPEAKER_03]: The carchets is happening in Hollywood, which something we actually haven't seen on screen for such a long time, because most of them are filmed.
20:38 --> 20:39 [SPEAKER_03]: in Vancouver, right?
20:39 --> 20:47 [SPEAKER_03]: So here they look like they're going down the street to Hollywood and the joke is, they're in the middle of the ice, but all the traffic is absolutely awful.
20:47 --> 20:53 [SPEAKER_03]: How could they possibly be able to do a high-speed car chase when there's so much traffic around, so they have that little joke.
20:53 --> 21:01 [SPEAKER_03]: and then he drives on the sidewalk and then you actually find out the way they're catching up with this with the cyclist is he wants them to catch up with them.
21:01 --> 21:06 [SPEAKER_03]: So when you're watching the first time you go and hang out a second how the hell is this bicycle carrier?
21:07 --> 21:19 [SPEAKER_03]: Not getting away from them when they're caught up in traffic but actually he's stopping every a couple of minutes to let them catch up with them because he wants to blackmail them effectively for this.
21:19 --> 21:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what Simon is like, it's, it's your degenerative past that got us into this and he's like, the operative word is past and I'm sorry, that's just really great, that's great.
21:34 --> 21:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's so much, so I mean, nice little lines and even in the fact that he says about Jaden, oh, you're trying to hustle, you know, hustle looks, it's that,
21:45 --> 21:56 [SPEAKER_01]: because he's doing a lot of hustling as well, and it's like I love that he kind of sees
21:56 --> 22:01 [SPEAKER_01]: and identifies immediately what Jayne is, be probably because of himself.
22:02 --> 22:05 [SPEAKER_01]: And is quick to take the deal?
22:05 --> 22:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we'll find Esther Van, you know, in order to prevent this footage from being sort of released onto YouTube and stuff.
22:15 --> 22:18 [SPEAKER_01]: So I also like that the car chase as well.
22:18 --> 22:24 [SPEAKER_01]: becomes the full chase like you would see in the movie as well, but this kind of is like, well, where's he gone?
22:25 --> 22:35 [SPEAKER_01]: They're not just running around all these corridors, knowing exactly where is he and they kind of like, someone comes out and thought, oh, well, there's a bar behind that.
22:35 --> 22:43 [SPEAKER_01]: And so they go in and, yeah, it's just kind of interesting to see how that's the
22:45 --> 22:47 [SPEAKER_01]: They kind of just take that riff really, I think.
22:47 --> 22:50 [SPEAKER_03]: I love the Trevor goes, we must remember this place for a different life.
22:52 --> 22:54 [SPEAKER_03]: This hidden, this hidden cool bar.
22:54 --> 23:03 [SPEAKER_03]: That must be how people in LA are able to go out for night's age because it must be so expensive to go to anywhere on the strip or anywhere famous in LA.
23:03 --> 23:08 [SPEAKER_03]: So the normal people that need to go out for night's age must have more hidden places to go to.
23:08 --> 23:09 [SPEAKER_03]: I guess so.
23:09 --> 23:10 [SPEAKER_05]: All the speakings.
23:10 --> 23:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
23:11 --> 23:12 [SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe it's the other way around.
23:12 --> 23:14 [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that's where the famous people go to the Speakeysies.
23:15 --> 23:23 [SPEAKER_03]: And the not rich people who are our waders go into, uh, diverse, diverse.
23:23 --> 23:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, four or five different different tiers of places in LA.
23:27 --> 23:32 [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, really like the, uh, the character I think that's a great fun, uh, seen as well in this episode.
23:32 --> 23:38 [SPEAKER_05]: I also just like once they catch up with them like that whole aspect is just it's fun.
23:38 --> 23:42 [SPEAKER_05]: It's just like they don't understand it's like well we'll get you deleted.
23:43 --> 23:44 [SPEAKER_05]: Can it kind of be uploaded?
23:45 --> 23:53 [SPEAKER_05]: Does that work like neither of them are techy so you don't like it's not like they to they both are just relying and then they're like I think he's lying.
23:53 --> 23:54 [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know though.
23:54 --> 24:06 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's about seven or eight minutes since the incident happened and he's apparently done this whole amazing technical job of pre-loading this to go live at 9 a.m.
24:06 --> 24:12 [SPEAKER_03]: If he doesn't get to shut it down, it just feels like the plot of speed five or something like that.
24:12 --> 24:12 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
24:12 --> 24:12 [SPEAKER_03]: Really good.
24:12 --> 24:13 [SPEAKER_03]: Really good.
24:13 --> 24:17 [SPEAKER_05]: Well, this perfectly leads us on to our take number three.
24:17 --> 24:18 [SPEAKER_05]: Gotta go one last time.
24:19 --> 24:20 [SPEAKER_05]: Take three.
24:21 --> 24:21 [SPEAKER_05]: Action.
24:22 --> 24:50 [SPEAKER_05]: So, for the last time, let's discuss Jaden and Esteban, the Chamoy dudes themselves and how Jaden will delete this footage, he'll get rid of it all, and especially of Simon using his powers, if Simon and our good friend Trev will go and get back Jaden's, what you call it?
24:50 --> 24:51 [SPEAKER_03]: bike motorbike.
24:52 --> 24:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
24:54 --> 24:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
24:55 --> 24:56 [SPEAKER_05]: It's an interesting.
24:57 --> 25:05 [SPEAKER_05]: It's funny because again this is the subversion of a lot of this show runs on which if we go here and we're like oh my god the drug dealers.
25:05 --> 25:15 [SPEAKER_05]: Like okay it makes sometimes like Esteban he's going to be that the hood rat he's going to be like your stereotypical Latin American drug dealer.
25:15 --> 25:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Even the Gonzalez who's kind of the nosey naivers looking out and you have Estaband kind of saying we're not a drug Dan, Missy goes out when making this week Yeah, very good And that's the best part of this is when he was like, well try our sweets I even thought it was going to be like they're laced in gummies or something like no exactly like edibles or something like that I thought it was going to be something
25:42 --> 25:45 [SPEAKER_05]: But no, just plain fashion good old sweets.
25:46 --> 25:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, absolutely.
25:46 --> 25:50 [SPEAKER_03]: And that's where I take three comes in, Jayden and asked about the Chamoy dudes.
25:50 --> 25:54 [SPEAKER_03]: That's their, that's their name when they were working together, right?
25:54 --> 26:01 [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, but the subversion starts in the initial discussion between Jayden and I'm Simon Trevor, because
26:01 --> 26:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Here we have our brand new here on the MCU.
26:04 --> 26:08 [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody's been wondering about Wonderman, what Paris he has, what Paris does some?
26:08 --> 26:10 [SPEAKER_03]: Williams have in the TV show that are different from the comment books.
26:10 --> 26:17 [SPEAKER_03]: He showed them off in this initial fight and the first person that seen them in this MCU.
26:17 --> 26:31 [SPEAKER_03]: Black males have been tries to get him to use his parers to beat up his former mate to steal his motorbike So completely different to anything we've seen any of the MCU shows around the MCU movies Not going out to fight bad guys after revealing his parers.
26:31 --> 26:46 [SPEAKER_03]: He has some kid whose video to Telling him he has to use his parers to threaten a former friend This may have been something that might have appeared in She-Hulk if I'm from rising There was somebody that was trying to use She-Hulk's parers to their advantage as well
26:46 --> 26:49 [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, it's that kind of that kind of difference in the answer you here.
26:50 --> 27:04 [SPEAKER_05]: And it's fun because It's just you expect them to say no Yeah, you expect the hero of your show and the leads to go We're not gonna go beat them.
27:04 --> 27:04 [SPEAKER_05]: Nope.
27:04 --> 27:12 [SPEAKER_05]: They hop in the car and within a few within split liquidy split They are there and they're like, okay, where's the bike?
27:12 --> 27:13 [SPEAKER_05]: Give us the bike?
27:14 --> 27:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's that whole notion that actually Simon doesn't want to be a superhero, in fact he wants to be anything bought.
27:21 --> 27:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, because even, you know, despite having seen all this, the thing that he puts on, the power that he looks to do is effectively using Lauren order season 14, can I get a witness?
27:35 --> 27:43 [SPEAKER_01]: And you have Trevor who's going, well, I love the police line go that you're coming out with, you know, and it's all coming from
27:43 --> 27:45 [SPEAKER_01]: an audition that he's done and a show that he's done.
27:46 --> 27:48 [SPEAKER_01]: So I really loved the time it's going.
27:48 --> 28:00 [SPEAKER_03]: We don't have that much lingo and we have a couple of lines and we want to draw on but it should be enough to get me in the door and he stands there in front of the door, he starts with his lines and then the woman who opened the door goes, hey, that's the band.
28:00 --> 28:04 [SPEAKER_03]: The Mandarin just looks like Trevor completely busts the whole thing.
28:05 --> 28:07 [SPEAKER_01]: For me, like this is actually
28:08 --> 28:15 [SPEAKER_01]: I knew it, not, yes, and month into 2026, I have a feeling for myself personally.
28:16 --> 28:28 [SPEAKER_01]: This kind of final third act of this episode will be one of my favorite television, because it's almost like a show within a show with the chaos.
28:28 --> 28:34 [SPEAKER_01]: that just transpires here where you have Patrick Connor showing off again.
28:35 --> 28:48 [SPEAKER_01]: You have actually ultimately there's whole different tale that it's the falling out of bros and then you just have the you know you've got the letterbox scene which is
28:48 --> 28:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Franetic.
28:49 --> 28:50 [SPEAKER_01]: That felt like Tarantino.
28:51 --> 28:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was absolutely franetic.
28:53 --> 29:04 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean everything that's happening there You know the police arrive that you've got Trevor asking to get the GoPro from Jaden who's got a gun to his hairs
29:04 --> 29:25 [SPEAKER_01]: purely to delete the footage, S7 and Jayden started having a make-up at home and through the letterbox, they ultimately saved Jayden, the police fire, it jenele calls everything, there's just like all this stuff going on and you know, but ultimately,
29:26 --> 29:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I just thought it was fantasticly done.
29:28 --> 29:30 [SPEAKER_01]: I can't really describe it.
29:30 --> 29:38 [SPEAKER_01]: It was just pitch, it was actually perfect to me how it was set up and done at that letter box.
29:38 --> 29:41 [SPEAKER_01]: And I've just kind of literally bulleted everything and that's about it really.
29:41 --> 29:43 [SPEAKER_01]: It just went really well.
29:43 --> 29:49 [SPEAKER_01]: And like Esteban and his girlfriend and Jayden ultimately, they'd become really
29:50 --> 29:56 [SPEAKER_01]: I find, I found convincing roles, even though they've just been on the...
29:56 --> 29:59 [SPEAKER_01]: the episode for literally five minutes.
29:59 --> 29:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
29:59 --> 30:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they're a great.
30:00 --> 30:01 [SPEAKER_01]: They're a superb.
30:02 --> 30:10 [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, ultimately you have, you know, them bow thinking that they're going into a drug den, but ultimately it's a sweety shop.
30:11 --> 30:18 [SPEAKER_01]: And it ends off with this absolute chaos gaping on at the letter box.
30:18 --> 30:24 [SPEAKER_01]: And I just love the fact that in all of it, you get the Janel having the call to say,
30:25 --> 30:28 [SPEAKER_01]: on Kovax doing the call back now.
30:28 --> 30:29 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
30:29 --> 30:32 [SPEAKER_03]: And I love that what she calls Simon's going.
30:32 --> 30:33 [SPEAKER_03]: It's not really a good time.
30:33 --> 30:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Don't you dare hang up on me eventually.
30:36 --> 30:41 [SPEAKER_03]: You need to take this call right now and he takes it, of course, because acting is the most important thing for him.
30:41 --> 30:45 [SPEAKER_03]: As you said, Chris, you know, if this was another show and it's the superhero, they would have said no.
30:45 --> 30:46 [SPEAKER_03]: This is...
30:46 --> 30:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Simon Williams actor who was about to get the biggest part of his life he hopes.
30:51 --> 30:58 [SPEAKER_03]: So everything is above that even if he has to blackmail some kid to get To get a motorbike back for somebody else and delete this footage.
30:58 --> 31:15 [SPEAKER_01]: That's the most important thing for him So he is gonna take this phone call when this police hit side of the door appointing a gun at somebody Well, they start making a wrong for us to go to the coal back as the police are there and you hear the gun shots So it looks like the running or fleeing from the scene or of
31:15 --> 31:15 [SPEAKER_01]: a shoetails.
31:16 --> 31:24 [SPEAKER_01]: And then I love the fact that you have travel getting on the wrong side of the car because you think season the UK.
31:24 --> 31:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yes.
31:25 --> 31:26 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, mum the wrong side.
31:26 --> 31:28 [SPEAKER_01]: So you have to drive.
31:28 --> 31:30 [SPEAKER_01]: It gets into the driver's sees.
31:30 --> 31:31 [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't enjoy that.
31:31 --> 31:37 [SPEAKER_05]: That's it was such a quick throw away line that I'm like
31:37 --> 31:39 [SPEAKER_05]: Do you think they actually did that on purpose?
31:41 --> 31:42 [SPEAKER_05]: Do you think it was actually a mistake?
31:45 --> 31:45 [SPEAKER_05]: It was very good.
31:46 --> 31:47 [SPEAKER_03]: It was very good.
31:48 --> 31:50 [SPEAKER_05]: But I think leads us to the end of the episode.
31:50 --> 31:54 [SPEAKER_05]: I don't have any more notes either by this section or any of the previous acts.
31:55 --> 31:55 [SPEAKER_05]: Thanks.
31:55 --> 31:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I have a note here.
31:58 --> 32:05 [SPEAKER_03]: When I absolutely love, it's just that Trevor gets Estaband's name wrong every single time he says it.
32:05 --> 32:06 [SPEAKER_03]: And he says it about six times.
32:08 --> 32:10 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why he gets it wrong every time.
32:10 --> 32:15 [SPEAKER_03]: And Simon gets it right from the minute they arrive there, but for some reason Trevor can't get his name right.
32:16 --> 32:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Very funny.
32:16 --> 32:37 [SPEAKER_03]: And the other thing is at the beginning of the episode when Trevor's getting phone calls from Agent Cleary and ignoring them, he tells Simon he's getting called from the pocket dimension that he used to live in, which is a reference to Sean T. Our only reference think so far the season about where he was for the last five or six years, right?
32:37 --> 32:38 [SPEAKER_03]: I thought that was quite fun.
32:38 --> 32:43 [SPEAKER_05]: More fun is that he got a flight back from the pocket to entry, you know.
32:43 --> 32:52 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, I didn't I did I shung she air Maybe baby It's sister is very very wealthy True, true.
32:52 --> 32:53 [SPEAKER_03]: That's the leader of the team.
32:53 --> 32:54 [SPEAKER_03]: He made it out of the pocket dimension.
32:54 --> 32:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he must have gone with him.
32:56 --> 32:59 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, well, we hope what about your self-term?
32:59 --> 33:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, no, no, no, it's for me for all of this one
33:03 --> 33:08 [SPEAKER_05]: Well, then it pains me to say this, because it means we have to wrap up the episode.
33:08 --> 33:15 [SPEAKER_05]: But Derek, do you defend this episode of Wonderman episode five?
33:15 --> 33:17 [SPEAKER_03]: I absolutely defed this episode.
33:17 --> 33:18 [SPEAKER_03]: Loved this.
33:18 --> 33:22 [SPEAKER_03]: This is one of the ones that I found really weird when I was going through the line-up episodes.
33:23 --> 33:25 [SPEAKER_03]: It's still day being the shorted episode.
33:25 --> 33:31 [SPEAKER_03]: And especially after the break we had last episode with the door man being a black and white episode with
33:31 --> 33:33 [SPEAKER_03]: then coming out to this one, which is going to be short.
33:33 --> 33:38 [SPEAKER_03]: I went into it going, come on, we got to see what's going to happen next.
33:38 --> 33:39 [SPEAKER_03]: We need a big moment.
33:39 --> 33:40 [SPEAKER_03]: And they gave us everything.
33:40 --> 33:41 [SPEAKER_03]: They gave us a car chase.
33:41 --> 33:44 [SPEAKER_03]: They gave us the big, the drug deal gone bad.
33:44 --> 33:48 [SPEAKER_03]: They returned of someone that Trevor had wronged in the past.
33:48 --> 33:53 [SPEAKER_03]: And we have this big standoff, Tarantino Sxin at the end of the episode.
33:53 --> 33:55 [SPEAKER_03]: It's such a great job of this episode.
33:55 --> 33:58 [SPEAKER_03]: It may be laugh and may be really interested in the characters.
33:58 --> 34:09 [SPEAKER_03]: And one of the things that's starting to come out a little bit as the episodes go on, the story of the Wonderman character and this movie I think is really starting to play out in the background a little bit.
34:09 --> 34:16 [SPEAKER_03]: The movie Wonderman that Simon wanted to be a part of, the movie was about two best friends, him and Barnabas.
34:17 --> 34:24 [SPEAKER_03]: We see the lines come in, the sides come in from Janell, which show that Barnabas is going to turn on Wonderman in the movie.
34:25 --> 34:29 [SPEAKER_03]: We also hear about Jayden and Estabam being best friends and Jayden turning on Estabam.
34:29 --> 34:35 [SPEAKER_03]: and Esteban's explanation was, he was great until Jeden Gock really just be careful who you partner up with.
34:35 --> 34:41 [SPEAKER_03]: So there's going to be a fracture in the relationship with Simon and Trevor coming up and I think they're laying the seeds of that through age.
34:41 --> 34:43 [SPEAKER_03]: What's going on on this episode?
34:43 --> 34:46 [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's been a really good way to do it and it's all just in the background.
34:46 --> 34:59 [SPEAKER_03]: It's not really focused on but I like that that's there and it's present because they can't be friends forever because we know Trevor's working for the DODC, right?
34:59 --> 35:02 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but loved this episode.
35:02 --> 35:03 [SPEAKER_03]: This is a great episode.
35:04 --> 35:05 [SPEAKER_03]: How is that Chris?
35:05 --> 35:07 [SPEAKER_05]: I absolutely adored this.
35:07 --> 35:10 [SPEAKER_05]: This is my favorite episode of the series 2Date.
35:11 --> 35:18 [SPEAKER_05]: It is just it is everything you've mentioned already, which is it is while both the shortest.
35:18 --> 35:19 [SPEAKER_05]: It's the most packed.
35:20 --> 35:24 [SPEAKER_05]: It has a flavor of everything and also it
35:24 --> 35:35 [SPEAKER_05]: Every single one of our listeners who has listened to many of our shows is going to roll their eyes in three two one It very much is subverting some of those themes that we've seen before.
35:35 --> 35:43 [SPEAKER_05]: It's it's playing on the trope of hey Your hero has just shown on his powers off
35:43 --> 35:44 [SPEAKER_05]: for the first time.
35:44 --> 35:59 [SPEAKER_05]: Well, Chewley showed his pyros off as a hero and rather than step into the light and kind of be that kind of protector and kind of very much do that superhero kind of superman piece.
36:00 --> 36:02 [SPEAKER_05]: He tries to shrink back to the shadow.
36:02 --> 36:03 [SPEAKER_05]: He doesn't want to be seen.
36:03 --> 36:05 [SPEAKER_05]: He doesn't want to be found.
36:05 --> 36:07 [SPEAKER_05]: So it's a version, it's fun.
36:07 --> 36:16 [SPEAKER_05]: And like you said, the car chase, it's a joke because you can't do a car chase in LA, because of traffic.
36:17 --> 36:28 [SPEAKER_05]: So it's just kind of having a it's poking fun while also just kind of being very grounded and real as if this is your, this is Hollywood.
36:28 --> 36:34 [SPEAKER_05]: This is what it's like.
36:34 --> 36:35 [SPEAKER_05]: except it's in the MCU.
36:35 --> 36:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
36:36 --> 36:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
36:36 --> 36:41 [SPEAKER_05]: So I just really enjoy where leads us on where it ends going into the next episode.
36:41 --> 36:44 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, completely, uh, defend this episode.
36:44 --> 36:44 [SPEAKER_03]: Fantastic.
36:45 --> 36:48 [SPEAKER_03]: I was sure Chris was going to say these eggs when I thought they were going to act in New York.
36:48 --> 36:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks for having me.
36:49 --> 36:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I did.
36:50 --> 36:50 [SPEAKER_03]: I did.
36:51 --> 36:52 [SPEAKER_05]: I would say I would see Isaac.
36:53 --> 36:54 [SPEAKER_03]: What are you talking about yourself?
36:55 --> 36:55 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I know.
36:55 --> 36:57 [SPEAKER_03]: You zagged when I thought you were going to say Chris.
36:57 --> 36:58 [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
36:59 --> 37:01 [SPEAKER_05]: John, what do you think of this episode?
37:01 --> 37:03 [SPEAKER_05]: And more importantly, do you defend this episode?
37:04 --> 37:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I absolutely defend this episode of Wonder Man.
37:07 --> 37:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I give this five Shumori candy bros out of five.
37:11 --> 37:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, like you Chris, this is my favorite episode.
37:14 --> 37:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so far on Wonder Man.
37:16 --> 37:19 [SPEAKER_01]: And to be honest, it's up there with pretty much most of the others.
37:19 --> 37:48 [SPEAKER_01]: as well, but there's just something in this that is kind of, like I say, it's subversive, but it's a little bit transcendent, and it's just the way it treats these two going on an all-kaper sort of action, you know, it's like lethal weapon or body cops, you know, all this kind of thing, and you have the car chase, you have the foot chase that kind of
37:48 --> 37:53 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, it's us so good and I'm all because they went there for a drink to celebrate.
37:53 --> 37:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
37:53 --> 38:00 [SPEAKER_01]: And let you say you get to see his parents who see some element of control, you're like, okay, what more can he do here?
38:02 --> 38:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Certainly given the intrigue and the interests, I should say that damage control have got on him.
38:09 --> 38:18 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think for me, just the, you know,
38:18 --> 38:28 [SPEAKER_01]: off broadway play and an American buffalo just then with an edit right into a sort of a right hook from Patrick to Trevor.
38:28 --> 38:29 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember you would have wished for you.
38:29 --> 38:41 [SPEAKER_01]: The little dingling of the bell again just perfect timing for me and you have this fantastic scene at the letterbox where it's just
38:41 --> 39:05 [SPEAKER_01]: it's tense, it's frenetic, you've got someone's life in the balance, you have friends, portrayal, like you say, sort of mirroring for building what is ultimately unlikely to happen between Trevor and Simon, but this time between Estabin and Jay, Jayden, and you have the police calls, you have
39:07 --> 39:23 [SPEAKER_01]: the rescue of the GoPro and the delete, the deleting of the footage, all like very kind of, doesn't sound like much, but it is just all so well, all at the letterbox of Estabans can defactory and sweety shop, it's so, so good.
39:23 --> 39:35 [SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, as they're fleeing the scene where Gunshots have been fired, it is actually so that they can get to Von Kovax on time because
39:35 --> 39:37 [SPEAKER_01]: actually fantastic.
39:37 --> 39:45 [SPEAKER_01]: I do feel, and I'm gonna have to be thinking this is one of my favorite episodes of the year, and already.
39:45 --> 39:49 [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, at least in the last 12 months, and then when we got to the end of the year.
39:49 --> 39:50 [SPEAKER_01]: No, because last year was...
39:50 --> 39:51 [SPEAKER_01]: So good.
39:51 --> 40:01 [SPEAKER_01]: It was really good stuff in a different way, but this is tight writing, acting, editing, directing you name it, it's just really, really good.
40:01 --> 40:08 [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, absolutely defend this episode, I can't wait to hear the thoughts of our fellow defenders about this one.
40:08 --> 40:12 [SPEAKER_01]: And yes, five Shmoi Candy Bros out of five.
40:12 --> 40:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Fantastic.
40:13 --> 40:15 [SPEAKER_05]: Great stuff.
40:15 --> 40:16 [SPEAKER_05]: So, Jens.
40:17 --> 40:19 [SPEAKER_05]: Thanks for the time with all that sanded.
40:19 --> 40:21 [SPEAKER_05]: We head back to the Pope ourselves.
40:22 --> 40:30 [SPEAKER_05]: I'm thinking of speaking easy with not going to few doors, you know, pull a few levers, try and get into it like a covered, but it'll probably end up just being done here.
40:31 --> 40:32 [SPEAKER_05]: But beyond that,
40:32 --> 40:33 [SPEAKER_05]: Let's go.
40:33 --> 40:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Also, it'll probably end off being a coper to that.
40:38 --> 40:39 [SPEAKER_05]: That's how we super it.
40:39 --> 40:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Don't say the C was.
40:45 --> 40:48 [SPEAKER_05]: Let's go and have a bit of a focus.
40:48 --> 41:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, yes indeed fellow defenders fellow quizzes we are heading to the pool for well, maybe an alcoholic Bloody Mary or maybe a non-alcoholic, uh, Bloody Mary, our Trevor Slastery and but it is
41:04 --> 41:09 [SPEAKER_01]: episode five so of course we are on to question five and here we go.
41:09 --> 41:16 [SPEAKER_01]: When Trevor has one of Esteban's candies he says it's like when Stevie Nick's head coke blown up her bunk hole.
41:17 --> 41:22 [SPEAKER_01]: But what sweet spicy and sour candy treat does Esteban give Trevor?
41:23 --> 41:34 [SPEAKER_01]: I could have shortened that question down couldn't I actually yes could have bought but it is such a great Such a great line thought we'd bring it into the pub absolutely do you want to give the question What would I have done?
41:35 --> 41:51 [SPEAKER_01]: I certainly do possibly like how Stevie Nick said once again When we're more go and when Trevor has one of Esteban's candies, he says it's like when Stevie Nick's had coke playing off her bungalow But what sweet spicy and sour candy treat disaster band give Trevor
41:51 --> 41:52 [SPEAKER_03]: Fantastic.
41:52 --> 41:54 [SPEAKER_03]: That's the fifth question of a questions at the end of the season.
41:55 --> 42:03 [SPEAKER_03]: Put all the correct answers together email this two free back at tvpodcastindustries.com and you could be in the chance of getting your hands on some Wonderman goodies.
42:04 --> 42:05 [SPEAKER_03]: Great stuff.
42:06 --> 42:18 [SPEAKER_03]: That's the same email address you can use if you want to share your feedback with us about any of the episodes of Wonderman and you can also pop on our Twitter Facebook group at facebook.com slash groups slash tvpodcast industries or pop over to our Discord server.
42:18 --> 42:20 [SPEAKER_03]: The link is in the
42:20 --> 42:23 [SPEAKER_03]: or just search TV podcast industry on discord and you should find us in there.
42:25 --> 42:25 [SPEAKER_05]: Yes!
42:26 --> 42:32 [SPEAKER_05]: But speaking of that feedback, let's jump over and hear what are fellow defenders have to say about this.
42:32 --> 42:34 [SPEAKER_05]: So over on Facebook!
42:34 --> 42:38 [SPEAKER_05]: We have a piece of feedback from Mathematician who had this to say.
42:38 --> 42:41 [SPEAKER_05]: Great to see the boys back in for this episode.
42:41 --> 42:44 [SPEAKER_05]: Story feels like it's just drifting along to me currently.
42:44 --> 42:51 [SPEAKER_05]: I've stopped trying to figure out where it's going and I'm now just enjoying the two leads and how they have this amazing chemistry.
42:51 --> 42:58 [SPEAKER_05]: Like in football, when two different styles of midfielders compliment each other perfectly and you can clearly see that perfect balance.
42:59 --> 43:01 [SPEAKER_05]: They have their call back to Kovac.
43:01 --> 43:18 [SPEAKER_05]: Played by the guy who was the Borovia leader from last year's Superman to the story is moved on a bit But to me, it's all about Trevor and Simon, and that's more than enough Yes, anybody remember that daft 90s duo was Saturday morning TV
43:19 --> 43:33 [SPEAKER_03]: our fantastic mathematician, I absolutely do, and every single time I've written down Trevor and Simon back to back, I just think of those two, they were, so we're two, two comedy, I ate a couple of two, yeah.
43:33 --> 43:45 [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, Travis and Simon, they were, I think they might have been on, they we see on certain mornings, but I remember them well and I was saying it's the other day and nobody had any idea what I was talking about.
43:45 --> 43:49 [SPEAKER_01]: So, you say it, it's like, it's come floating back.
43:50 --> 43:52 [SPEAKER_01]: I think I might have- Now I've just got chuckle brothers in.
43:52 --> 43:52 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
43:53 --> 43:55 [SPEAKER_03]: They're not the same thing.
43:55 --> 43:57 [SPEAKER_03]: I might have to reverse them from now on.
43:57 --> 44:02 [SPEAKER_03]: I might have to say Simon and Trevor, because every time I say Trevor and Simon, I just think that they're two comedians.
44:02 --> 44:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
44:03 --> 44:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, really good.
44:05 --> 44:14 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think mathematician, you made Chris slip up a bit there with that talk of midfielders.
44:14 --> 44:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
44:15 --> 44:20 [SPEAKER_05]: I was like, because I did understand what he was talking about because he didn't say soccer.
44:20 --> 44:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
44:20 --> 44:24 [SPEAKER_03]: Because it's like, does he mean the quarterback and the kicker?
44:24 --> 44:24 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
44:24 --> 44:29 [SPEAKER_03]: We're so comfortable.
44:29 --> 44:34 [SPEAKER_03]: We're still in our American football ways because of the three buildings last weekend.
44:34 --> 44:36 [SPEAKER_03]: So we're still still got that in our mind.
44:36 --> 44:39 [SPEAKER_03]: So that's probably what it is.
44:39 --> 44:48 [SPEAKER_01]: But totally with your mathematician, it is all about Trevor and Simon, it's about their story and it's about
44:49 --> 44:55 [SPEAKER_01]: I think being with them on this journey, too, will demand.
44:55 --> 45:01 [SPEAKER_03]: But also, you know, I'm like most of the shows that we have, where there's a start point and a real end point for the show.
45:02 --> 45:05 [SPEAKER_03]: This does feel like that half our TV show, where they go, right?
45:05 --> 45:07 [SPEAKER_03]: What do you want to do with Trevor and Simon this week?
45:07 --> 45:12 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, as I said, the episode started with the two of them going for a drink to celebrate their call back.
45:12 --> 45:13 [SPEAKER_03]: And because of...
45:13 --> 45:18 [SPEAKER_03]: Trevor's history, then they go in this wild journey and they get to the callback by the end of the episode.
45:18 --> 45:20 [SPEAKER_03]: But the wild journey is because of these two characters.
45:20 --> 45:24 [SPEAKER_03]: So the writer just having a phone with these two characters in another situation.
45:24 --> 45:26 [SPEAKER_03]: So standard sitcom stuff, right?
45:26 --> 45:26 [SPEAKER_03]: That's great.
45:26 --> 45:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
45:27 --> 45:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Really, really enjoy it.
45:28 --> 45:28 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
45:28 --> 45:29 [SPEAKER_05]: They could have called this.
45:30 --> 45:33 [SPEAKER_05]: Chavin Simon's excellent adventure.
45:33 --> 45:36 [SPEAKER_05]: Or bogus bogus adventure.
45:36 --> 45:37 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, definitely.
45:37 --> 45:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, or Simon and Trevor's.
45:39 --> 45:44 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so they don't get sued Just look anything the ribs are bill and Ted, you know, it's a good thing.
45:44 --> 45:45 [SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
45:46 --> 45:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Great stuff.
45:47 --> 45:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks so much, Matt position for your thoughts.
45:49 --> 45:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, great stuff.
45:49 --> 45:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, Matt position.
45:51 --> 45:52 [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, thank you, Matt petition
45:52 --> 45:58 [SPEAKER_03]: And we're back with our extra slice of feedback for this week and John's joining me for this one, because he's here.
45:58 --> 45:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, thanks.
45:59 --> 46:00 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry.
46:00 --> 46:01 [SPEAKER_03]: Excellent to have you.
46:01 --> 46:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, thank you.
46:03 --> 46:05 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get into our feedback section.
46:06 --> 46:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Indeed, let us kick off with our discord feedback.
46:10 --> 46:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Bob Phillips says, from Phil Noir to French Fast, even with multiple doors and getting in the wrong side of the bed, well, can't really enjoy this leap sideways into the ridiculous style of comedy that I haven't watched for years, and the tiniest
46:33 --> 47:02 [SPEAKER_01]: absolutely dumped of our bits just this is just for me a really good good episode and that it's kind of interesting that you're saying like it's it's the phasical element of it almost inspect a clues so tight approach to it which of course is highlighted by the detectives as they go to Esteban you know for the the gummy birth factory which
47:02 --> 47:06 [SPEAKER_01]: All the neighbors at least think is a big cocaine factory.
47:06 --> 47:08 [SPEAKER_03]: A big drug den of some sort of, yeah, absolutely.
47:09 --> 47:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, actually that's a great description of it.
47:11 --> 47:19 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a farce because that is always that thing where it starts out at a level and then the intensity builds and builds and the gets funnier and funnier as it goes along.
47:20 --> 47:23 [SPEAKER_03]: And we definitely felt that with this pretty short episode.
47:23 --> 47:26 [SPEAKER_03]: But a fun trip with the two characters.
47:26 --> 47:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, great stuff.
47:27 --> 47:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Definitely.
47:27 --> 47:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Great show, thanks Dr. Bob for the feedback.
47:30 --> 47:31 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, thanks Dr. Bob.
47:31 --> 47:33 [SPEAKER_03]: And we also got very well in from coffee and vodka on this one.
47:33 --> 47:36 [SPEAKER_03]: He says, greetings fellow escalating defenders.
47:36 --> 47:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Did anyone else get retro whiplash from the 80s buddy cup vibes thrown off by this?
47:40 --> 47:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Or just me?
47:41 --> 47:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Whatever the case, this much action packed into 20 minutes makes it seem closer to five.
47:46 --> 47:50 [SPEAKER_03]: It would nitpicky to say it should have been tacked onto the next episode, but there it is.
47:50 --> 47:55 [SPEAKER_03]: Beyond this, it was sheer fun and a nice reference to the Mandarin days of excessive indulgence.
47:55 --> 48:03 [SPEAKER_03]: More please, 4.5 Habanera, 8 Balls, No Go Go Pros, and Drug Day, Afternoon, 6 or 5, Peace and Take Care, Coffee and vodka.
48:03 --> 48:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Great, thanks Coffee and vodka.
48:06 --> 48:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it is, it's so, so good, really good fun.
48:10 --> 48:13 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think your right is kind of what do you place this?
48:13 --> 48:24 [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm really pleased that the writers, the showrunner, the director decided that this is a standalone episode because I think
48:24 --> 48:46 [SPEAKER_01]: in a sense it is about exploring these two characters as much as the underlying references with damage control with them then both careering towards betrayal and I think this is just like another
48:46 --> 48:48 [SPEAKER_01]: finding their groove.
48:48 --> 48:52 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's kind of like this is the Halsey in days of their friendship.
48:52 --> 48:54 [SPEAKER_01]: It can't get any better.
48:54 --> 48:59 [SPEAKER_01]: They're on they're on to be to go to von Covax Mansion.
48:59 --> 49:02 [SPEAKER_01]: They've got the part, or at least the callback.
49:02 --> 49:10 [SPEAKER_01]: They're on this role and they just need to keep that secret secret and so yeah inched forward, but
49:10 --> 49:28 [SPEAKER_03]: banged in such she had full and I think as you say absolutely absolutely and yeah it does remind you of all those great eighties body cop movies like the weapon or 48 hours of course Beverly Hills cop would be the the touch here because they're in Beverly Hills and doing chases through the city of Beverly Hills
49:28 --> 49:50 [SPEAKER_03]: actually found out afterwards, we were right that the chase scene that happens on Hollywood Boulevard was filmed there and apparently it's very very difficult to get permission to film there because of him to bad the traffic is so they incorporated the traffic into the into the joke of the scene it was always going to be there but the fact that they were able to film it on a on a very busy street in Hollywood is adds to the traffic accident.
49:50 --> 49:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Excellent.
49:51 --> 49:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Excellent.
49:51 --> 49:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Great.
49:52 --> 49:53 [SPEAKER_01]: So thanks to
49:53 --> 49:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks coffee and vodka.
49:54 --> 49:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Also then over to our Facebook feedback.
49:58 --> 50:11 [SPEAKER_01]: And Heather Wallace says, I so enjoyed Trevor constantly pointing out how untrustworthy Jaden was, and especially since he is so slippery himself, also loved his quick alliance with the gang making sweets.
50:12 --> 50:17 [SPEAKER_01]: For a scene that had angry drug dealers and gunshots, it was surprisingly wholesome.
50:17 --> 50:33 [SPEAKER_03]: Can't agree with you more Heather around that yeah, it was very wholesome and I love there's a great moment when when Trevor points out the Jaden's untrustworthy and Simon goes Yeah, I know but we have to because he's the one that's got the blackmailing.
50:33 --> 50:42 [SPEAKER_03]: We're not choosing sides between these two in their friendship battle Yeah, after do what Jaden says so I can get the go pro back, right?
50:42 --> 50:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely
50:47 --> 50:55 [SPEAKER_01]: But it's wholesome for Jaden, for Estaband, for Trevor and for Simon as well.
50:55 --> 51:01 [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a really, I think I called it the Letterbox scene and just so much packed into that.
51:01 --> 51:06 [SPEAKER_01]: I think wholesome is just another one of those things that sort of...
51:06 --> 51:09 [SPEAKER_01]: get posted through that, less about.
51:09 --> 51:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, great stuff.
51:11 --> 51:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks, Heather.
51:12 --> 51:18 [SPEAKER_03]: And finally, Harvey Locke says, hey guys, I've been enjoying your coverage of the show and wanted to make a correction that you reference twice now.
51:18 --> 51:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, by night, it's not a Marvel spotlight where we'll find out it was a Marvel studio special presentation along with the Guided Galaxy Christmas special and the upcoming Punisher.
51:28 --> 51:32 [SPEAKER_03]: The specials are like one Chuck comics, the only other spotlight was Echo.
51:32 --> 51:36 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not exactly sure what makes them spotlights other than dropping all the episodes at once.
51:36 --> 51:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks to that Harvey.
51:37 --> 51:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think we just made the off-the-cuff comment on the first day when we recorded.
51:42 --> 51:46 [SPEAKER_03]: We weren't even really thinking about it when Chris said that it came up with more of a smile.
51:46 --> 51:48 [SPEAKER_03]: I went, oh, of course it did.
51:48 --> 51:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's different from different from usual, that it'd be a Marvel spotlight.
51:52 --> 51:59 [SPEAKER_03]: But I did have a look, I actually posted this in a response to Harvey on the Facebook group, but there's actual comment about it from
51:58 --> 52:05 [SPEAKER_03]: I bet the Marvel Spotlight, which has been often misinterpreted by people commenting on what Marvel Spotlight's are.
52:05 --> 52:08 [SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't say their throw away things that nobody has to watch.
52:08 --> 52:09 [SPEAKER_03]: It's the other way around.
52:09 --> 52:21 [SPEAKER_03]: And what he says is, they want to make sure in a Marvel Spotlight that you don't have to go off and watch five different movies, or 25 different movies, or now 38 different movies in order to enjoy the Marvel Spotlights.
52:21 --> 52:26 [SPEAKER_03]: He says if they are going to reference things in the MCU in a Marvel Spotlight, they will always
52:26 --> 52:31 [SPEAKER_03]: put enough information in the episode that's there so that you don't have to go off and find the information somewhere else.
52:31 --> 52:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Whereas traditionally with the Marvel TV shows, the tie into the movies, they will put in references that you should know and you should be going and seeking out, you know, where did Loki come from?
52:40 --> 52:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Why has he been sent back in time?
52:42 --> 52:43 [SPEAKER_03]: That kind of stuff.
52:44 --> 52:46 [SPEAKER_03]: You will have to go ahead and find that yourself with the Marvel spotlight.
52:46 --> 52:54 [SPEAKER_03]: He says these are just self-contained things that they will give you all the information you need to enjoy them rather than you having to go and do lots of research.
52:54 --> 52:56 [SPEAKER_03]: That's
52:56 --> 52:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks so much.
52:56 --> 52:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so extra stuff.
52:58 --> 52:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks, Harvey.
52:58 --> 52:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, thanks Harvey.
52:59 --> 53:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, great to hear from you.
53:00 --> 53:02 [SPEAKER_03]: And glad you've been enjoying the coverage so far.
53:02 --> 53:06 [SPEAKER_03]: great stuff thanks everybody and thanks John for joining me for the special insert for a feedback.
53:06 --> 53:17 [SPEAKER_03]: John is no I am saying that it's because for the last couple of weeks up and on my own for these these little inserts so I've been moaning about the fact that people are just hearing my opinion about their feedback and I love having the other voice here of course.
53:18 --> 53:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Like wonderful hope you know is much more about the stuff than I do.
53:22 --> 53:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay well I'm glad to be here.
53:24 --> 53:25 [SPEAKER_03]: And you'll be back of course for the six steps as well.
53:26 --> 53:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Indeed I will.

53:33 --> 53:39 [SPEAKER_05]: With that we are said and we are done, gentlemen, it is a wrap for episode five and I are the scusional on this.

54:32 --> 54:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Bye.
55:01 --> 55:02 [SPEAKER_02]: Quite on set.
55:02 --> 55:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Like another group.
55:03 --> 55:09 [SPEAKER_00]: So a metaphorical crunch, I don't know if it's for just... We are your crutch.
55:09 --> 55:10 [SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
55:10 --> 55:20 [SPEAKER_05]: You can look at least for the last few like 20 years plus you've been a tripod and now you've got five.
55:20 --> 55:21 [SPEAKER_05]: There you've got five.
55:22 --> 55:23 [SPEAKER_05]: I'm sorry, dude.

55:45 --> 55:45 [SPEAKER_05]: Nah.
55:46 --> 55:47 [SPEAKER_05]: You are director.
55:50 --> 55:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Go on set.
55:52 --> 56:19 [SPEAKER_05]: To all our fellow defenders, don't forget to write a review on Apple podcast or anywhere you are listening to these and give us the ratings and give us the reviews and share the podcast because much like the two, much like those two sweet brothers who were kind of in the candy corporation together, you need to share the podcast because it is about sharing the,
56:19 --> 56:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Love.
56:20 --> 56:21 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
56:21 --> 56:23 [SPEAKER_03]: It went a little bit.
56:23 --> 56:24 [SPEAKER_03]: It went a little weird.
56:24 --> 56:25 [SPEAKER_03]: It went a little weird.
56:25 --> 56:25 [SPEAKER_03]: It went a little weird.
56:25 --> 56:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Do I try that?
56:26 --> 56:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Just a little bit better.
56:28 --> 56:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Do I try that again?
56:29 --> 56:29 [SPEAKER_01]: It's better.
56:30 --> 56:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
56:30 --> 56:32 [SPEAKER_01]: What did the brothers do?
56:33 --> 56:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Like the brothers who shared their love.
56:34 --> 56:37 [SPEAKER_00]: And what does a girlfriend do?
56:37 --> 56:39 [SPEAKER_00]: Should they candy, baby?
56:39 --> 56:39 [SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
56:39 --> 56:40 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
56:40 --> 56:41 [SPEAKER_05]: Doesn't it?
56:41 --> 56:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Quite on set.
56:43 --> 56:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Keep defending.
56:44 --> 56:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Bye.

56:49 --> 56:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Bye, my love, please.
56:51 --> 56:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Bye.
56:52 --> 56:53 [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just saying Kornish.
