Umbrella Academy Season 4 Episode 3 Podcast

Chris and Derek are back again to chat about The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Episode 3 "The Squid and The Girl" and learn more information about The Cleanse.

Umbrella Academy Season 4 Episode 3 Details

  • Created for TV by Steve Blackman
  • Developed by Jeremy Slater
  • Based on the comic series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá
  • Directed by: Paco Cabezas
  • Written by : Aeryn Michelle Williams and Elizabeth Padden.

In October 2006, fishermen caught a giant squid off the coast of the US with a young girl inside. When asked what happened, the young girl responded with "The Cleanse".

Shortly after, Reginald built a town in Maine for the young girl, Jennifer, to live a normal life, yet stay protected.

In the present day, Ben’s body has changed after colliding with the now grown Jennifer during her kidnapping by Doctors Jean and Gene Thibodeau.

Klaus gets his drug dealer, Quinn to kill him but after he discovers Klaus’ immortality he kidnaps him with a plan for Klaus to pay back his debts.

Five, Diego and Lila go to the Keepers' HQ. Five reveals to Lila that his powers now allow him to navigate between timelines via subway station, to the same place but in a different timeline. He has no control over where they travel to and when they find themselves in Five’s original apocalypse he quickly returns them to Diego. Diego finds files from the original timeline, which list Ben's cause of death as "The Jennifer Incident", a mission from the Umbrella Academy’s past that none of the family can quite remember.

Allison, Viktor, and Luther go to Hargreeves' manor, where they meet Abigail and Reginald. When Diego, Five and Lila arrive they realise that the original Reginald Hargreeves erased their memories of how Ben died, and reuniting they attempt to restore their memory.

Meanwhile, Jean and Gene show Jennifer mementos of the original timeline, as well as the giant squid. They reveal she is the key to destroying all timelines and restoring the original one.

On his own solo quest, Ben is told by Sy Grossman to use the wounds he got from Jennifer and listen to his body to find her. He arrives at Jean and Gene’s hideout and unleashes his inner horror to free Jennifer, unaware the Thibodeau's intentionally let them escape to carry out their plan.

[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the Umbrella Academy on TV Podcast Industries and we're discussing the Umbrella

[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Academy Season 4 Episode 3, The Squid and the Girl.

[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Umbrella Academy Season 4 Episode 3, The Squid and the Girl.

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back fellow Academy alumni and brawly dollies, this is TV Podcast Industries and

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_01]: we're discussing the Umbrella Academy Season 4 Episode 3, The Squid and the Girl.

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And no, that's not the title of Ben's sex tape.

[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I am one of your hosts, Chris.

[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm your other host, Derek.

[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome back.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: The Squid and the Girl.

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I kind of like that.

[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It's an interesting version.

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_01]: We are at the halfway point on the season, the final season of the Umbrella Academy.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's really funny, isn't it?

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_03]: We come from UK TV, obviously Chris and myself, and it's so interesting that we keep talking

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_03]: about how short this season is.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_03]: It's awful they've only got six episodes.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_03]: This was our entire growing up experience with sci-fi shows in the UK and Ireland

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_03]: that only lasted six episodes a season and then they go away for a whole year

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_03]: and come back with six more episodes.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_03]: That was our whole experience.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_03]: But here we are, yeah, halfway point for this season of the final season of the

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Umbrella Academy.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember how bad it was when they did Sherlock?

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And it was like two episodes a year, even one a year.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, OK, it's an hour and a half.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But no, my God, we have to wait another 12 months for just to see Benedict Cumberbatch

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: do Sherlock again.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll never see it now because him and Martin are marvelled up.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, they can't align their schedules at all, unfortunately.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I did start rewatching Sherlock last week, actually, Chris.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_03]: It's amazing that you've brought that up.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I started rewatching and it's such a good show.

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I absolutely loved it.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So you're Sherlocked in all Umbrella Academy Episode 3.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_03]: That too, Chris.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Hello, Umbrella Academy alumni.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We are going to discuss this episode in pure spoiler filled approaches.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you haven't watched it, make sure you just pop on over.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure you've watched all six episodes of the show so far.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_03]: We're the ones that are behind, right, Chris?

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we are. But that is the thing.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_01]: We are watching them episode by episode and then podcasting because we want to get

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_01]: into the nitty gritty, the minutia that has been pulled together of this.

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to join us, don't forget to head on over to TVPodcastIndustries.com.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Subscribe because we know you want to.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But also head on over to Facebook.com.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Slash groups slash TV podcasts and leave us your thoughts for each and every episode

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_01]: so that we can read them out and also kind of basically discuss your thoughts too.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: If you don't want to head over to Facebook, don't worry.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: We understand it.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: You can also just send us your thoughts by email to feedback at TVPodcastIndustries.com.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Mm hmm. Absolutely.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we always kind of talk about the fact that that Netflix drops all these

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_03]: episodes in one go and it's really difficult to cover a Netflix show because I've

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_03]: dropped them one go and everybody watches them and then disappears.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Because it's the last season of Umbrella Academy, we really wanted to give it its due.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_03]: We wanted to talk about each episode as we went and give it the time that they

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_03]: deserve because we've loved these characters for four seasons.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_03]: What's it?

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Sixty six years now since we started covering the Umbrella Academy or five

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_03]: years since we started covering the Umbrella Academy.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_03]: So we want to make sure that we give it its time as we talk about each episode of

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_03]: the show as well.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_03]: So delighted to have you all on board with us, of course, and loving your feedback so far.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_03]: It's interesting because I've seen feedback about the last episode.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody has sent in all their feedback about the last episode.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_03]: So as Chris said, we'd love to hear your episode by episode thoughts as we go as well.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_03]: So keep sending them in to us.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And you may notice we are missing a third voice.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_03]: We are.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, our third podcast is still stuck in another dimension,

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: another timeline.

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He may join us towards the end.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know.

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Time will tell.

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_01]: The as literally they say, who knows the future?

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: No one.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But if it's written in the stars, it's just us that's written in the stars.

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_01]: But we will hold out hope.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll have him towards the finale.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, we will just enjoy our dulcet tones.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, as it stands right now, I'll be honest.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think John's going to be back podcasting for at least another week or so,

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_03]: which does impact our next podcast.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_03]: We are lucky to cover Lord of the Rings, Rings of Power,

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_03]: one of John's favorite universes of TV shows.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Lord of the Rings coming out with its next season this week in a couple of days time.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: We have seen the episodes, but I'm not sure if John's going to be able to podcast

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_03]: about them until a bit later on at the season.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_03]: But as that shows going weekly, it means we just give us the ability to catch up

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: with the episodes as they go on.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: So we may not start at exactly the starting point of Lord of the Rings,

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_03]: we will hopefully be able to catch up with it as the season goes on.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and unfortunately I did offer to sub in,

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: but my discussion points of having not seen season one at all,

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and rarely parts and not remembering any of the films,

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd be like, so Big Ear Elf over there got really annoyed with that dwarfy person

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: who versus actually is jumping around with Lenny Henry.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that right?

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and the Eye in the Sky is actually a DC character.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: No, okay.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's not Olmach.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, cool.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Unsurprisingly, I said no to the very kind offer of Chris to sub in.

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_03]: But I will say, and I can say it now because the embargo has lifted on season two of Rings of

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Power, go check it out.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_03]: It's well worth it.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Season one was set up, which we always knew it was going to be establishing that world.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_03]: But season two is really, really enjoyable so far.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Go check that out.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I love how you have to say they have to set up the world of Lord of the Rings.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, absolutely.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_03]: This is hundreds of years before the universe that we've seen in The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_03]: So they have to establish where we are, what that world was all about in the first season.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And there were some awesome episodes the first season.

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't tell you to skip that either.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But go check out season one and season two of Rings of Power.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Season two starts off very, very well.

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Very impressed with it so far.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Excellent stuff.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But we're not here to talk about Rings of Power.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: We are here to talk about Netflix's Umbrella Academy.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we are.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: So, Derek, without further ado,

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: let us dive into season four, episode three of Umbrella Academy.

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The squid and the girl.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to give us the episode details?

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, absolutely.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_03]: The show, of course, was created for television by Steve Blackman

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_03]: and developed by Jeremy Slater,

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_03]: based on the comic books by Jared Way and Gabriel Bha.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_03]: This episode was directed by Paco Cabezas.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_03]: He directed episodes seven and eight of season three

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_03]: and directs three, four, and six of the six-episode seasons.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_03]: The director, who's had most to do with the final season of Umbrella Academy,

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_03]: previously directed four episodes of Penny Dreadful

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_03]: and two episodes of the sequel series Penny Dreadful City of Angels,

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_03]: both of which we covered here on TV podcast Industries as well.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, it was, wasn't it?

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It was such a good City of Angels.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That was the one I was like, oh, I really wish we had it.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_01]: That's one I'm sad we never got more of.

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we got one season which set up a great second season,

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_03]: which never came to pass, unfortunately.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_03]: But this episode was written by Erin Michelle Williams and Elizabeth Padden.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Erin has been a staff writer in the show since season two of the Umbrella Academy

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: and wrote two episodes of season three as well.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is Elizabeth's second episode of Umbrella Academy.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_03]: As we mentioned before, lots of returning writers for the show,

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_03]: the writers' room and the staff writers all pretty much staying involved

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_03]: all the way through the seasons of this show.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Great stuff.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And with that said, Chris, do you want to give us

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_03]: a summary for Umbrella Academy season four, episode three, The Squid and the Girl?

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: In October 2006, fishermen caught a giant squid off the coast of the US

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: with a young girl trapped inside.

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_01]: When asked what happened, the young girl responded with two words,

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_01]: the cleanse.

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Shortly after, Reginald built a town in Maine for the young girl Jennifer

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_01]: to live a normal life yet stay protected.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: In the present day, Reginald's body is changed after colliding

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_01]: with the now grown Jennifer during her kidnapping by the doctors Jean and Jean Dibbido.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Klaus gets his drug dealer Quinn to kill him, but after he discovers Klaus's immortality,

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: he kidnaps him with a plan for Klaus to pay back his debts.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Five, Diego and Lila go to the Keepers HQ.

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Five reveals to Lila that his power is now allowing him to navigate between timelines

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_01]: via subway station to the same place, but in a different timeline.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_01]: He has no control over where they travel to and when they find themselves in

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Five's original apocalypse he quickly returns them to Diego.

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Diego finds files from the original timeline, which list Ben's calls to death as

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: the Jennifer Incident, a mission from the Umbrella Academy's past that none of the

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: family can quite remember.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Alice and Victor and Lita go to the Hargreaves Manor where they meet Abigail and Reginald.

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_01]: When Diego, Five and Lila arrive they realise that the original Reginald

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Hargreaves have raised their memories of how Ben died and upon reuniting they

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: attempt to restore their memory.

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, Jean and Jean show Jennifer mementos of the original timeline

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_01]: as well as the giant squid they found her in.

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_01]: They reveal she is the key to destroying all timelines and restoring the original one.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_01]: On his own solo quest Ben is told by Cy Grossman to use the wounds he got from

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Jennifer and listen to his body to find her.

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_01]: He arrives at Jean and Jean's hideout and unleashes his inner horror to free Jennifer,

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: all the while unaware that the Thibodauxs intentionally let them escape

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: to carry out their plan.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Leading into the Clans and I believe Episode 4 is called The Clans so I guess we're going to go full

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_03]: circle over the course of these two episodes.

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I think so.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think we need to jump into it because I really there's a lot to discuss in.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_03]: There's some fun stuff to discuss in this episode.

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, definitely.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_03]: We talk about our big moments, the big things that stood out to us in the episode overall.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_03]: So Chris, where do you want to start?

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_03]: What's your big moment from the episode?

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_03]: The thing that you want to talk about most.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So I want to discuss Jennifer, Jean, Jean and the horror or as I like to call it,

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Jen, Jean, Jean and the horror.

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't find-

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Jen, Jean, Jean, Ben?

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I could have been, yeah.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: That's probably a better way.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get in there because this is interesting.

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_01]: The amount of OG artifacts that Jean and Jean have on site from the umbrella fact.

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Going through the overall warehouse, I would say the barn of the artifacts and looking in

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_01]: the background, there's definitely stuff I was like, oh, I remember that.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I know that from season two or season one or all those little nice Easter eggs.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And I really enjoyed that.

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I also enjoyed this flashback to The Squid.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Really just adding additional confusion for me.

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I was really trying to understand why a little girl was in The Squid.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure lots of other people were too.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you know what I loved about that opening scene though?

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_03]: How sweary the coverage was on the TV.

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It really made me laugh.

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_03]: So 1995, we were alive in 1995.

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_03]: We saw news reports that were going on.

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_03]: This is true live TV when the reporter is out talking to these two fishermen who've

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_03]: captured the biggest squid of all time.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Possibly worldwide is what they're saying.

[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a fun chat, but I love how sweary it gets on live TV.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_03]: They start out by saying, we just thought it was effing huge.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_03]: That's as she's talking to them.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_03]: But even the reporter gets into it as she goes along,

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_03]: realizing this is like a massive moment.

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_03]: We know now live reports are usually two or three second delayed live reports.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_03]: So they catch people and news reporters who may get a bit difficult on air.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_03]: This is one of the fun parts about it.

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_03]: But yes, inside The Massive Squid, we find Jennifer hidden inside.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_03]: And she's saying that the reason why she's there is the cleanse.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what happened.

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_03]: So very interesting.

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm wondering if it is also going to end up being some timey-wimey type of thing.

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Literally, they're going to take it all the way back and somehow someone falls in,

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_01]: a little girl falls into it, and then that's actually the plan.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You could do some weird wacky stuff, which I know they would.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I like that this is setting up something completely off the wall.

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Or at the very least, it's setting up an explanation

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_03]: for something that we've heard about since season one, the Jennifer incident,

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_03]: the death of Ben.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Back in 2006, that's when Ben died.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_03]: That's the mission that they were on.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_03]: So that kind of full circle moment that we're finally getting an explanation

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_03]: for what happened on that mission.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't know it was called Jennifer back in the day.

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So we just knew that Ben died on the mission.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It is fun to see how they are expanding upon this.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So pulling in lore, my assumption is they would probably, or have probably discussed this with

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Jared and Gabriel.

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm sure.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_01]: They're just going to go, hey, is this good?

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Because this does start to rewrite the overall universe that is the Umbrella Academy.

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But I would argue now, I think we already argued ourselves about

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_01]: that this very much, the Umbrella Academy Netflix is very much their own thing now.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_01]: They have surpassed by a long amount the comic books, the OG material.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yes.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_03]: For our wonderful fellow Umbrella Academy alumni,

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_03]: myself and Chris do talk off air outside of the podcast as well.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_03]: No, we don't.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't break the illusion.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_03]: The discussion that we had was, I'm not a big fan of the comic books.

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_03]: That were created there.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_03]: They're fine.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_03]: They're grand.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I can kind of see why they were out there mostly because of the extraordinary star power

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_03]: that comes with Jared way to get them created in the story that he wanted to tell.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_03]: But I do think the TV show has done a better job of telling the story with these characters

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_03]: and gone far beyond that the drama that's there on TV on Netflix is much better than

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_03]: as written in the books.

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think at this stage, they have created a story and now they want

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_03]: to close out the story of the characters that have been created for the Netflix show.

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_03]: They really don't bear a huge amount of resemblance at this stage

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_03]: to the original counterparts that were in the comic book.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a personal opinion, of course, but that's how we've discussed it afterwards.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_03]: They're not taking a storyline from the comic books as you've mentioned, Chris.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_03]: You've read all of them.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_03]: This isn't a storyline that's in the comic books.

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_03]: They're taking a storyline from the show and expanding on it to close out the show.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's very much as almost everyone's we all understand multiverse now.

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It is ingrained in pop culture.

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You could almost think of the comic books being their own universe.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_01]: That's your own universe, their own timeline, their own thing.

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_01]: The Netflix show is its own version.

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And I enjoy this because you also like Jean and Jean are their own characters.

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And we get that beautiful, crazy scene between Jean Jean and Jen.

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And when they act as like those homely, I don't even know how to say it.

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's that we how do you that almost granny grandpa like folksy

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Midwest kind of friendliness and you're like, oh, that just seems so weird.

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I suppose the fact that they kidnapped Jennifer last week

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and we didn't know the intentions of Jean and Jean up until this week.

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_03]: They want to get to the Clans.

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_03]: They know who Jennifer is and they want to get there.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_03]: She's the key to it.

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_03]: But to see her waking up in the house and being brought freshly dried clothes and breakfast,

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_03]: but they do get the dance sequence of this season, I guess.

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_03]: They have their moment where they're dancing to share

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_03]: and full choreographed dance in this episode,

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_03]: which is something that has been a true hallmark of the TV version of the Umbrella Academy.

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But their dances to shares gypsies, traps and thieves and excellent song.

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Always love that.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I got a good style about it.

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_03]: So having them do their choreographed dance to that.

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_03]: But you're right, Chris.

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just you don't know who these characters are.

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_03]: You don't know where they come from.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And they seem very ornery, very nice, kind people.

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Just trying to get Jennifer to solve this big issue that they've discovered.

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_03]: The timelines that don't match the possibility that she could be the one

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_03]: that will collapse the timelines and bring it back to what they believe to be their real timeline.

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_03]: They are really interesting.

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_03]: They talk about them being in community college, don't they?

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_03]: And they got fired from tenure in community college.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yet in their real timelines, they believe one of them worked in Harvard

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and another worked in another massive Ivy League university.

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_03]: And they believe that's their real timeline.

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_03]: So again, some interesting indications of where they come from

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_03]: and where they think they should be wanting to get back to.

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't feel like the evil characters trying to enact their evil plan.

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_03]: They feel like two people who have been lost into terrible timelines going for,

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_03]: again, tenure in Ivy League colleges to small community universities.

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And yet we do know that they are incredibly violent.

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they can be.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_01]: We saw them in the first outing where they shot the other umbrella effect,

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_01]: memento gatherer blood.

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, you watch them rip them off for 10,000 euro for a VHS or 10,000 dollars for a VHS.

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a lot of money for a VHS tape.

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen I've seen weirder things for VHS.

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, no, I think this is this is setting up again, like they're setting up

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_01]: some really interesting kind of pieces here, both with the characters,

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_01]: the Jen and Ben storyline, and then just what the cleanse could be.

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we started to kind of posited a few things last episode.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we're starting to get some ideas, but we'll probably see more

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_01]: in the next episode, of course, in terms of what it really is.

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm I think outside of Jen, Gene and Gene, seeing Ben go full horror.

[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Like go almost like being drawn like an animalistic rage and trance rage

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_01]: with full tentacles kind of swinging tree to tree level stuff here.

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like Tarzan, but like evil.

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it was really cool, wasn't it?

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Like you met up with Cy Grossman who was able to track him.

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_03]: David Cross, who we mentioned how awesome he is last episode.

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_03]: But as Ben goes off on his own solo mission, meets up with Cy Grossman,

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Cy Grossman tells him to listen to his body and that will find his way to Jennifer.

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_03]: His version of listening to his body is not just the connection that he made

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_03]: with Jennifer, that burn mark that's the pulsating burn mark that's on his arm.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_03]: It's also it looks like he's able to control that power of,

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_03]: as you call them from the comic books, the horror and the tentacle,

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_03]: the monster that's inside Ben, that cool moment where he walks in

[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_03]: on the tentacles rather than walking in with legs.

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_03]: It feels like something out of a horror movie.

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_03]: But in the background, as you're seeing in the flashing of lightning and the

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_03]: darkness that's there and the flashes that are going on of gunfire towards the horror,

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_03]: you're seeing him rip apart the bodies of

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Gene and Gene's security guards that are at their home.

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It looks cool.

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_03]: It's really awesome.

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_03]: The fight sequences in this show have always been real standouts.

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I wish we'd been able to see a bit more of this moment with

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_03]: the horror, with Ben ripping people apart because he is definitely up there

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_03]: with the rest of the Umbrella Academy in terms of his power, right?

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But we see just moments of it.

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_03]: We just see flashes of the background in this moment.

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's cool though.

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_01]: My assumption was just this was a money decision because

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a lot of CGI to make Ben be up and the way he is.

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like we did talk about last week that we haven't seen Pogo at all

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_03]: so far this season and we do have those things that are revealed that Gene and Gene

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_03]: have from other universes.

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_03]: There's a little statue of Pogo that we see in there and I'm going,

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_03]: statue is really easy to put on screen rather than a CGI version of a talking monkey, right?

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_03]: There we go.

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_03]: That's our Pogo for the season.

[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the max we'll get.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: But overall, look, I just enjoy this.

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I enjoy Gene.

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I enjoy Gene.

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I enjoy Jennifer's reaction to the lamb and milk.

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I enjoy Ben and being that pulled, feeling that call being discussed by Cy

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and like it all just kind of starting to coalesce the storyline of the plans,

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_01]: storyline of Jennifer, storyline of Ben.

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: On the very point we're going to have to get Benifer being named.

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to happen.

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just when.

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, if it's not around the real world,

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: might as well be around in the Umbrella Academy.

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's my big point for this episode.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Excellent.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Excellent stuff.

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Excellent stuff.

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_03]: My big point is about Diego five and Lila's very successful mission.

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Really going off to the Keepers headquarters,

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: which we saw in the previous episode where Lila and five had been investigating

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_03]: the Keepers undercover behind Diego's back.

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I love how it all comes out really early in the episode that that's what's happened.

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Really early they're kind of going, who are these guys,

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Gene and Gene and five just goes, all right, exposition dump time.

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_03]: This is what happens.

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Previously on Umbrella Academy that you weren't aware of Diego.

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And then in the car on the way there,

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Diego finds out that his thoughts that Lila could be cheating on him

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_03]: with the Greek guy with the mustache.

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_03]: That obviously turns out to be wrong.

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_03]: That's five undercover.

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_03]: So all of that's pieced together on the way to their mission.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_03]: But Diego tries to prove himself, which is always good.

[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Diego has been such a great character over the course of the last few seasons.

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And now he feels beaten down and suburban in this life that he'd been in.

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_03]: But we see him here really using all of his skills

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_03]: and being the one to find the resolution to what they're looking for,

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_03]: find at least some information.

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Five and Lila actually don't do anything on this mission.

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_03]: It's Diego that finds all the information that's been hidden,

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_03]: all the information that doesn't arrive in the in the rubbish bins.

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_03]: The ones, the bits that were left behind by Gene and Gene.

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_03]: He's the one that works all that out.

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Pieces the story together while Five and Lila go off on their little sojourn

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_03]: into the alternate timelines through the subway system

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_03]: that they still both don't understand.

[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_03]: So it's left to Diego and it just feels like Diego stands up,

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_03]: becomes himself again, becomes the character that we've known

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_03]: and loved for three seasons and is able to do the investigation,

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_03]: is able to show how useful he is.

[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_03]: And I kind of love that as he pieces it all together

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_03]: and sits down in front of Five and Lila, he goes,

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I bet you really regret not giving him my CV to the CIA, right?

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_03]: He pieces it all together since they didn't do anything,

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_03]: since they didn't learn anything on behalf of the investigation of

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the Keepers.

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_03]: That was really good.

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_03]: But there's also the side story of what happens with Five and Lila, right?

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_03]: So we've talked about the powers of the characters

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and how they've changed.

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_03]: We learned that Five travels into this subway system,

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_03]: this subway system that connects all the timelines

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: in the last couple of episodes.

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Lila, is she able to control his powers still?

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_03]: It seems like she is.

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_03]: She grabs onto Five's arm and makes him do that jump

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_03]: when he didn't want to, right?

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It's more I took that she's able to mimic.

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_01]: That was her thing which was kind of mimicking.

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_03]: That was her old power, yeah.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And we learned that she has this new power of

[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_03]: shooting lasers out of eyeballs,

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_03]: but it seems like she's still able to mimic and push Five into doing it.

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, interesting.

[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I wonder whether that was a writer's issue or they just went,

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_03]: ah, nobody will mind.

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's nobody will mind because again, his power has changed that.

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_01]: He can teleport, but he can only teleport to the subway station.

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: He can use the subway station to go to wherever he left from teleporting

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_01]: in another timeline.

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's interesting.

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Hers is now she can mimic the other people's power and kind of like you say,

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of use that to say teleport, but she also has Cyclops level eyes.

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm wondering if there's more to Five's power as well now at a certain point.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_03]: There was an interesting moment within that as well where they do,

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_03]: take the train subway system, I guess, within these timelines to his apocalypse,

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_03]: to the apocalypse that we saw back in season one where Five had stayed for 40 years,

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_03]: where he jumped to by mistake and it's been stuck there for 40 years.

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So we see the alternative version of Five shooting from battlements

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_03]: as the appearance of our Five and Leela arriving in his apocalypse,

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_03]: where he'd been alone for four years with his mannequin.

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's the only thing that's been keeping in company for a few years.

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_03]: That's in his gun, I guess.

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: That was always a fun storyline.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_01]: He was married to a mannequin.

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_03]: He was.

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_03]: But I really liked this.

[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I really liked Diego being able to stand up and be himself.

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to have the same level of character depth that we've had in the

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_03]: previous seasons because we only have six episodes out of 10.

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're not going to have that.

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Having a moment here with Diego being able to stand up and show

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_03]: all of his abilities to his family and go, look how useful I am.

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm a really important member of this team.

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm able to find out all the information that you wouldn't be able to find out.

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And the information that he finds out is that the Jennifer incident is what killed Ben.

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_03]: This connection here that we have to the cleanse as the Gene and Gene are calling it,

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_03]: that is what killed Ben in the past.

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_03]: So something that we would never have found out otherwise, right?

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_01]: He's Batman.

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Like we talked about it last episode.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_01]: He is still Batman.

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: He is still like, that's what he was before all of this happened for the whole season one kicked off.

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, he is, he is good at his job or what was his job.

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So you're right.

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_01]: It's good to see him exercise that again, because I feel like he's somewhat of a butt of a joke sometimes.

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes, yeah.

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_01]: That's fine.

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_01]: They all are.

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Like Luther 100%.

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Luther was the leader, but Luther then becomes literally the butt of many jokes throughout the seasons.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And he does use that butt to a lot of his advantages as a professional dancer, Chris.

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got to shake that money maker.

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_01]: That was good.

[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Well done.

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_01]: But look, I'm in agreement with you.

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I think this was a good use of the time together across the three of them.

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And I do want to know more about the Jennifer instance.

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's where seeing them all go to Reginald Hargreaves meeting Hargreaves' wife.

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, absolutely.

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we got a bit of time on screen with Reginald Hargreaves' wife who we hadn't seen much.

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_03]: We kind of see her, you know, that she was being protected on the moon by Luther,

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_03]: which we learned in I think the second season.

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_03]: It took all the way, at least all the way through the first scene to learn why he was on the moon.

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_03]: But actually finally seeing her on screen and finally getting some interaction with the kids,

[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_03]: you know, it's really good.

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So then the decision is, yeah, Reginald of the OG Reginald probably kind of blocked

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_01]: their memories and let's figure this out.

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's find out what the Jennifer incident is.

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a good place to end because it does give us that right setup, which is,

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah, okay, how did Ben die?

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's give us that information and let's find out more about how Jennifer was involved

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: in the OG timeline because that is going to give us some

[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_01]: information going into the next episode and beyond.

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, again, we've talked about the Netflix-ness of the Umbrella Academy in the past.

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_03]: This is the absolute perfect Netflix-ness, isn't it?

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_03]: All of them sit into their seats and it just goes to credits.

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_03]: You've only got to wait three seconds to find out what happens next.

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Or in our case, however long this podcast recording takes plus some more.

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Plus that 45 minutes to watch it.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Excellent.

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Anything else from the episode that we haven't talked about, Chris?

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: No, again, just the Easter eggs in the barn with

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Jean Jean's barn and the Keepers HQ.

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_01]: That was cool.

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I haven't gone deep on it, but if you go on X or Instagram, there is

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of stills of people going, this is from this part and this is from here.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And like, we've gone deep on it.

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That's very cool.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_03]: It was really cool.

[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_03]: We saw things like the violin that Vanya was playing back in season one

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_03]: that calls the original apocalypse when she was playing it.

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's there.

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_03]: We see Diego's weapons are in there.

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_03]: We saw the statue of Pogo.

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: The action figures of the actual Umbrella Academy as kids.

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Really, really enjoyed seeing those little touches in their bushel.

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_03]: But we're not going to call it a college.

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_03]: All of the Easter eggs.

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_03]: That's for websites.

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but didn't we see that the mask of Chacha, Mary J.

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Blige's character from the first season was in that box back in episode one

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_03]: that they got that had the marigold in it.

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So there's loads and loads of things.

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_03]: It's almost like they went, this is our final season.

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get all the props from the last three seasons, bring them in

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_03]: and use them as little touch points for all the fans.

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have to make new ones.

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Which I kind of love, to be honest.

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm a big fan of shows like Doctor Who where they do that,

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_03]: where they pick things out from the 60s or 70s or 80s

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_03]: and put them in as little Easter eggs in the background of those characters.

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_03]: So why not do it on Umbrella Academy in your final season?

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_03]: 100%.

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm messing, but I enjoy it.

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm the guy that just watched Despicable Me 4 and looking at all the other Despicable Me's

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and or like Sing or things like that where you can see Gru and the minions

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_01]: in different properties and vice versa.

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_01]: They do that too.

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's the same with, that's Illumination, but when you have Dreamworks

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_01]: they do their version of that, like Pixar do, like here's Monsters,

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Ink in X or here's Stitch in Y.

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So I enjoy those types of films.

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I love that you're going so early on this Chris.

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought you'd be waiting until Miles was at least five or six to be going deep into the

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Easter egg lore of animated movies.

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought you'd just be going into like all the horror movies that you can watch now

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_03]: since he's so young he wouldn't retain information.

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: See, I thought that but then I remember watching it when I was six.

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's problematic.

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_03]: That's problematic.

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_03]: That's problematic.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_03]: But do it now.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Do it now before Miles gets older.

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_03]: What about yourself?

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Any notes from your side?

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_03]: What I want to talk about really is Klaus because we haven't talked about him here.

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_03]: But the end of last episode was Klaus being brought back alive by effectively Alison,

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_03]: but really the whole team.

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Alison was the one that did it.

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_03]: But Klaus goes wild on the whole team, but specifically Alison.

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_03]: You know that the relationship that they've had for years is she's been the one that's

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_03]: effectively been holding his hair back when he throws up after his binge drinking or

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_03]: him going completely off the rail.

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_03]: But he takes it out of her and every other member of the team except Lila,

[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_03]: which I really liked.

[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_03]: When he's going through the team he goes daddy issues, daddy issues, mommy issues,

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_03]: definitely more daddy issues.

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_03]: And then you seem very well adjusted actually to Lila, which I really enjoyed.

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_03]: But then he goes off back to old Klaus instantly, which is really sad.

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_03]: He spent three years dealing with the repercussions of how far he went in the past,

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_03]: the sex and drugs and everything else that he did, the cult leadership that he did in the past.

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But he goes completely off the ground immediately.

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_03]: He goes back to Alison's home while Claire is out to basically steal anything that isn't nailed in.

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Claire confronts him before he leaves, which I thought was a really good scene.

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Knowing that he's an addict, knowing that he needs somebody to intervene before he goes back

[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_03]: to his old self.

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_03]: But unable to persuade her uncle Klaus to give up this path that he's going to go down.

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we see a bit more of it later on when he meets up with Quinn,

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_03]: who was a member of the biker gang from last season or season two,

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_03]: The Mothers of Agony that Pogo is a member of.

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_03]: So it's interesting that they're bringing him back into the season.

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_03]: But a really odd moment where Klaus, after effectively learning how to float in front of him.

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen Klaus have that power before.

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_03]: He's able to float in the air.

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_03]: He encourages Quinn to shoot him in the head and kill him.

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why he just does that.

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Is he just trying to prove that he doesn't have any fear of death again?

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Is that what he's trying to do?

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why he encouraged Quinn to do it.

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_03]: It's revealed later on that once Quinn finds the said he goes,

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, hang on a second.

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I have a use for you.

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Captures him, brings them home to their lair and hangs them upside down.

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_03]: A great line from Robert Sheehan there though with, don't leave me hanging.

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Just really good.

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Enjoyed that.

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_03]: So Klaus again back on his death wish very quickly again.

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. Back to old Klaus.

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Back to season one.

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I found it like you made the joke about he tried to grab anything that wasn't nailed down.

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_01]: He still grabbed the TV that was nailed down.

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_03]: It certainly was.

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He ripped it off the wall.

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I enjoyed this because it gets you back to Robert Sheehan doing what

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Robert Sheehan does best with the character.

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I will say my issue quote unquote like bunny ears,

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_01]: is it just he goes from zero to 100.

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's just so quick.

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_01]: There is a bit of like character level whiplash that I guess.

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I understand again, there are a timeline here.

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Nope.

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_02]: A very short time.

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Not yet intended.

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think it just was so quick.

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_01]: That was the best to get him back to junkie.

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_01]: You could have just had at least given us a 30 second scene with him in the bar

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_01]: having like a shot or a drink for the first time.

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Or just something to get you straight back to junkie Klaus.

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Because it was like literally I'm back alive now.

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Taxi, right?

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Off I go.

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Off I go to Claire's house to or to Alison's house to rob everything off that isn't nailed down.

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_03]: You don't see any of it and even Claire says to him

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_03]: you don't seem like you're in a very good place here

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_03]: and I don't think a beer is going to make this any better at all for you.

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't think there's going to be any alcohol that will sort this out for you.

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_03]: You seem to be in a bad place, you know?

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_03]: But you're right.

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_03]: It does seem like things that are written to expedite the story rather than things that

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_03]: would make place go over the edge.

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_03]: It just seems like he goes, right, well now I'm back.

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't die so off I go to put myself to the test.

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And he will try.

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And he will try.

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_03]: He will try.

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_03]: But overall, Chris, what did you think of episode three of season four of Umbrella Academy?

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I enjoyed it.

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, learning more and more about the Keepers, the Powers, but again for me this is

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: the storyline.

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: What is the Cleanse?

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_01]: What will it be?

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_01]: What is this weird animalistic attraction craziness between Ben and Jan?

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_01]: When will they officially call them Benifer or Jan?

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't work as much.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But for me, it's just finding out what's happening.

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And again, the characters are the characters.

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, just spending time with this family is always fun.

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_01]: This felt, it moved the story along for a lot of characters, for some at the right

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_01]: pace and for others as we won't get back into it, just at a whiplash pace.

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But it sets us up in a good place for episode four.

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_01]: To really go deep on what is happening, what happened and what's next.

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So overall, still really enjoyed it and looking to get further in.

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_01]: What about yourself?

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I really enjoyed this.

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_03]: This seemed like it was at a massive pace considering what we've had in previous

[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_03]: seasons of the show where this kind of story will be spread over a few episodes.

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_03]: This was going fast and I think the big reveal of the episode is

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_03]: in a dropped line from Gene and Gene.

[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_03]: When they're talking to Jennifer, they kind of look at it for the first time and they go,

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_03]: we have so many questions about the Clans, tell us about the Clans.

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_03]: And then the next time you see them, they go, so what you're supposed to be doing is

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_03]: destroying all of the timelines and restoring the original timeline.

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Isn't that right, Jennifer?

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_03]: And you're going, oh, okay, that's the Clans, I guess.

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_03]: That's the big crux this whole thing is based on for the season.

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_03]: So you've just told us it all in one episode and it's gone from

[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_03]: here's the family without powers, here's the family with powers,

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_03]: here's the setup for the season and it all went by in a click of fingers.

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_03]: And we've got three episodes left.

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think it has told us everything we need to know to get us to

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_03]: how is this season going to end, right?

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_03]: They've got to stop the Clans from happening because that will kill everybody

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_03]: in this timeline or they've got to go with the Clans and go back to just the original

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_03]: timeline. That's the choice that they have to make between now and the end of the season.

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_03]: It was great to see the family interact all together and great to see them back with

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Reggie Bush with the addition of Abigail, Reggie's wife.

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_03]: It was kind of cool to have that interaction rather than them once again just having

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Reggie being the alien amongst them all telling them, oh, my decisions are

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_03]: the right decisions and all you kids are terrible at your jobs.

[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_03]: That was kind of a nice addition to the show.

[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_03]: So hopefully we get a bit more of Abigail interaction as the rest of the series goes

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_03]: on. She's a nice addition to the show and kind of understand how she balanced

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Reggie out and when she wasn't around, that's why he's been so unhinged,

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess, for the past few seasons.

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_03]: So that was quite nice.

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, we got our dance sequence in this episode with Jean and Jean

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_03]: doing Gypsy's Tramps and Thieves.

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_03]: That was great fun.

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I wish it was longer.

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I have wished about all the dance sequences from all the seasons.

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I wonder, will we get a final dance sequence at the end of episode six?

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_03]: They've been so big and so loved by the fans.

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_03]: What do you think, Chris?

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I hope so.

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I really do hope so.

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I hope that there's something there.

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Dancing to a Fade to Black would be lovely.

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Would be cool.

[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we'll close out with something like Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run as they all

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_03]: run in separate directions.

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_03]: The final impending apocalypse killed everybody else.

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_03]: There you go.

[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_01]: The cleanse cleanses them.

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's our thoughts.

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's our thoughts.

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get a quick pop in and check in with our Academy alumni

[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_03]: with some messages from the future.

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_03]: We got a message in on Facebook from Dr. Bob Phillips who says,

[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_03]: High points of this episode where the reverse clockwork orange machine,

[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_03]: line dancing PhDs and the return of Klaus.

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I think he's about to do a Captain Jack and be killed for money.

[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm looking forward to seeing how Lila and Five unpick the subway problem.

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Will there be a nod to the trolley bus conundrum?

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And why a giant squid can make the world clean again?

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I love how you write down the episodes, Dr. Bob.

[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_03]: That's really funny.

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Captain Jack from Doctor Who couldn't die at all.

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think he got killed for money though.

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_03]: At least not very often in the show itself.

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_03]: But Klaus, yeah, I wonder if that's it.

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Can Willie be someone that people can vent their rage on?

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Is that how he's going to be used by the Mothers of Agony?

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Could be, could be.

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be interesting.

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I always remember Captain Jack from the long, well, the short lived,

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_01]: long wish for more of Torchwood where it was the adult Doctor Who

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_01]: where they got it to some very serious dark versions and I was like,

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is good.

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_01]: This is really good.

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_01]: It came and went, but there should have been more.

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_03]: It did, yeah.

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Quite literally that would have been maybe one of the jokes that was written into

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_03]: the early couple of seasons just to make it a bit more adult.

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_03]: It was a good show overall.

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_03]: It did like a Captain Jack was a great character.

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Regularly appeared across Doctor Who for all of the seasons.

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, great to think about that.

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_03]: That could be what Klaus is doing.

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But I'm not sure if they'll go for killed for money.

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I think they might go somewhere else with Klaus

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_03]: because that would be just awful.

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_03]: They've just had Robert Sheen having his head cut off in one episode

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_03]: and then maybe getting stabbed through the heart in the next episode.

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_03]: And then he just keeps coming back if that's the way they're going to go.

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_03]: But yes, thanks so much, Dr. Bob for your thoughts.

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thanks, Dr. Bob.

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows?

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_01]: They might even just have him levitate into weird places that no other people can get to.

[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that's it.

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a quinsome levitation.

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's one of the new powers, I guess.

[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, Dr. Bob.

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And thank you so much to everyone else for your feedback.

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't forget, head on over to Facebook.com slash group slash TV podcast and leave us your

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_01]: feedback there or send us your feedback to feedback at TV podcast industries dot com.

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And you still have multiple episodes where we can hear it.

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So get it in now and we'll read it out on the show and discuss it.

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_01]: But with all that said and done, thank you so much for joining us

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_01]: for episode three of season four of the Embraer Academy.

[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_01]: We will be back with episode four of season four, The Cleanse.

[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_03]: That's finally going to be revealed or will it just happen?

[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Surprise!

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_01]: The next episode five and six is just black dark screen.

[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Or episode four, The Cleanse happens in episode five and six,

[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_03]: as everybody works out how to live their real lives in the main timeline.

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_01]: That could be it.

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_01]: How about that?

[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows?

[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I do wonder with all the apocalypses that have gone on

[00:45:04] [SPEAKER_03]: throughout the last three seasons of the Embraer Academy,

[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_03]: if they get brought back to one central timeline, will it just end five minutes later

[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_03]: with one of the three apocalypses that have happened so far?

[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Where do you go back to on the main timeline?

[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, maybe the tip of those, the gene and gene,

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe they're making the wrong decision here to go back to a timeline

[00:45:23] [SPEAKER_03]: where maybe their lives ended three minutes later, you know?

[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Might not be the greatest of plans, but we'll find out I guess

[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_03]: in the next episode of the Embraer Academy.

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know 100%.

[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what the ending is going to be now.

[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Now you said that.

[00:45:35] [SPEAKER_01]: They get back, everyone's happy and then they turn around

[00:45:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and literally someone comes in and goes,

[00:45:40] [SPEAKER_01]: the apocalypse is coming in 24 hours.

[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Their life is forever.

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Apocalypses in three days.

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe.

[00:45:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we know it's the last season, Chris, and they can't end in a cliffhanger.

[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe it'll just be ever after.

[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not how this works.

[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe somebody will run in and go, you can't dance here.

[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_03]: This is a town like out of footloose.

[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Dancing has been banned.

[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_03]: But I guess we'll find that out in a couple more episodes time.

[00:46:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks so much for joining us for our discussion about

[00:46:11] [SPEAKER_03]: the third episode of the final season of Embraer Academy.

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll be back next time.

[00:46:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Until then, keep watching.

[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Keep listening.

[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Keep dancing.

[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Bye.

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You can dance if you want to.

[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You can leave your friends behind.

[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't dance, hey.

[00:46:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you were so close to knowing all the lyrics.

[00:46:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I was quite impressed.

[00:46:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I get where we do some of it.

[00:46:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Bye.
