00:00 --> 00:05 [SPEAKER_00]: This is TV podcast industry, it's the middle of summer, and I'm talking about what I'm watching while we're not podcasting.
00:27 --> 00:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back fellow TV Watchers, it's been a very, very hot summer at Ireland and very much across across lots of Europe.
00:35 --> 00:41 [SPEAKER_00]: And we're on a bit of a break, myself, a genre off in a holiday for two weeks, Chris has just finally moved into his new house, so he's setting all that up.
00:42 --> 00:49 [SPEAKER_00]: And while we're on a break, I thought I'd share some of the shows that we've been watching, and to give you something to watch, well, you hide indoors from the shiny hot summer.
00:49 --> 00:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Because there's been lots and lots of great stuff to watch, stuff that we're not going to be covering on the podcast.
00:55 --> 01:07 [SPEAKER_00]: But we did want to give you some recommendations of things to watch, as I say, maybe during the late night or maybe if you want to get some respite from the heated side, Cisndorers and what a good TV show, while you give yourself a bit of a break from the sunshine.
01:08 --> 01:08 [SPEAKER_00]: Take care right there.
01:08 --> 01:11 [SPEAKER_00]: It's been really really awesome all across Europe.
01:11 --> 01:25 [SPEAKER_00]: So I hope you're having a good break I hope some of you are getting away on holidays as well and we will be back at the end of July with Spider-Man brand new day But for now, it's just me talking about the things that I've been watching over the last couple of months and couple of weeks and things that are going on at the moment At first up.
01:25 --> 01:26 [SPEAKER_00]: I want to talk about
01:27 --> 01:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Tip-toe, this is the show from Russell T. Davis, a really strong, really powerful drama set in Manchester.
01:34 --> 01:49 [SPEAKER_00]: Russell T. Davis, well known as the person who brought back Dr. Who from its days in the wilderness, but also probably most well known for his series Quirers' folk, which was set in the queer district of Manchester featuring lots and lots of grace characters.
01:49 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_00]: All of the LGBTQ plus community and what they were going through back in the 90s.
01:53 --> 02:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Here we see Russell T. Davis back here in angry form, he really wants to tell a story about what life is kind of getting like at the moment aggression that's going online between people is now spilling out into the streets and spilling out amongst the people a lot of distrust between different communities of people and it's something that's becoming very scary.
02:14 --> 02:38 [SPEAKER_00]: He tells the story about two neighbors Alan Cumming and David Marisi who live next door to each other in Manchester Alan Cumming just recently split up with his husband and David Marisi having problems of his own with his wife and his kids And as their life's intertwined across the course of the four or five episodes Things get really really tense and really really difficult to watch It starts out and tells you exactly what's going to happen in the show.
02:38 --> 02:38 [SPEAKER_00]: So
02:40 --> 02:55 [SPEAKER_00]: major trigger warning at that initial moment is what the whole series is leading to, but it's a fantastic really well written, really well acted show, a highly recommended if you're looking for some some serious drama to watch during the summer time.
02:55 --> 03:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Tipto is a really difficult watch at times, but there's also some fantastic moments, Paul Reese, as the aging drag queen Melba, has two fantastic moments in the show, well worth watching just for those moments, and well worth pushing through, it's very strong, very well written show.
03:13 --> 03:18 [SPEAKER_00]: So, highly, highly recommend that, that's available on Channel 4 in the UK in Europe.
03:18 --> 03:28 [SPEAKER_00]: And I know they've done deals for Australia, and I know it's coming to the U.S. as well pretty soon, but the episode should be coming over the course of the summer, but highly recommend that one to begin with.
03:28 --> 03:38 [SPEAKER_00]: After that, I'm a huge game of throwing sounds, and I know loads of have seen loads and loads of game of throwings, but I want to highly recommend the brand new season of House of the Dragon Season 3 as ice.
03:38 --> 03:40 [SPEAKER_00]: The first three episodes of Arizona is I'm recording this.
03:40 --> 03:43 [SPEAKER_00]: At first two episodes, we're just absolutely epic.
03:43 --> 03:44 [SPEAKER_00]: Just brought you back to those
03:47 --> 03:49 [SPEAKER_00]: The massive budget was out there on screen.
03:49 --> 03:59 [SPEAKER_00]: There's huge dragon battles going on between multiple dragons as one of the best ocean battle scenes I've seen on TV in the second episode absolutely excellent.
03:59 --> 04:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Really, really good.
04:01 --> 04:14 [SPEAKER_00]: But if you do want something lighter in the world of Game of Thrones, there is a night of the seven kingdoms which came out earlier on this year with Dunk and Egg, a play by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol, and so lots of fun, a lot of adventures,
04:16 --> 04:38 [SPEAKER_00]: story, set around a tournament with a hedge nicer, a lowly nice in the realm, trying to earn his keep by going to a massive tournament, and on the way he meets a young egg, a mysterious bolt child, who very precocious, very funny, he wants to be the squire for this hedge nice, as he battles his way through.
04:39 --> 04:49 [SPEAKER_00]: the tournament, really fun, very different for Game of Thrones, very short episodes as well, but absolutely heartbreaking at times as well, a really well told story out.
04:49 --> 05:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Definitely something to recommend, especially if you're someone that has kind of moved on from Game of Thrones and don't want to see something similar to Game of Thrones is a very different style to this one, but certainly well worth the watch as well.
05:01 --> 05:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of funny, another comedy show, one of my favorite shows, Hacks came to an end this year in the final season.
05:07 --> 05:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Season 5, it's a comedy show starring Jean Smart, who you may remember from the show we covered at Watchman.
05:14 --> 05:28 [SPEAKER_00]: She is the central character in this stand-up comedian who's trying to do everything in this final season to get everybody to her massive show that she's booked out in Madison Square Garden, so it's really good as the plans get more and more complex to guess.
05:28 --> 05:38 [SPEAKER_00]: this massive gig sell day for fantastic stuff at Hannah, I'm binder is the co-star in there and Megan Stuttler and Paul W. Danes are the members of the cast.
05:39 --> 05:43 [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody really gets a good episode in this final season or great moments in this final season.
05:43 --> 05:45 [SPEAKER_00]: They really nailed the landing.
05:45 --> 05:48 [SPEAKER_00]: If you want to know how you end a comedy show that could go on forever.
05:48 --> 05:49 [SPEAKER_00]: This is definitely the way to do.
05:49 --> 05:50 [SPEAKER_00]: It was really, really good.
05:51 --> 05:58 [SPEAKER_00]: My other major recommendation at the moment are two final ones, X-Men 97, 4 episodes into the second season of the show.
05:58 --> 06:05 [SPEAKER_00]: I really enjoyed the first season, but I'm not a massive X-Men fan, so I know this one is definitely one for the X-Men fans, if you enjoyed the card.
06:05 --> 06:23 [SPEAKER_00]: tune when you watch it as a kid back at the 90s, or if you enjoyed the comment books, this pulls from every era of the X-Man pulls from a huge roster of X-Man characters, most of which are a lot of which I don't know, I'm really enjoying the storytelling and this is a really interesting way of telling this series.
06:23 --> 06:41 [SPEAKER_00]: If comes from the former executive producer from the show, Bo De Mayo, he was involved in both the first and second season of the show, so I don't know what the third season has to come, but he did deliver an excellent X-Men show with the first season and the second season's had been really good as well, and the team there pulling together and creating this really good show to watch.
06:41 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're looking for some Marvel stuff that we're not covering on the podcast, check out X-Men in 97.
06:47 --> 06:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Last one for me is the Vampire Lestas, the third season
06:53 --> 07:08 [SPEAKER_00]: books started out with the first two seasons being interview with the vampire this third season is the vampire let's start all about a statha rockstar telling his stories of his history through his songs and how he is interacting with this new idea of fame that he's come across.
07:09 --> 07:10 [SPEAKER_00]: It's absolutely fantastic.
07:10 --> 07:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Sam Reed, who plays Lestas, if you've seen him in the first two seasons, he is even better in this third season.
07:16 --> 07:18 [SPEAKER_00]: He's just embodies the character of Lestas.
07:18 --> 07:21 [SPEAKER_00]: One of my favorite fictional vampires out there, Lestas.
07:21 --> 07:24 [SPEAKER_00]: So both there's so many other great characters in this.
07:24 --> 07:25 [SPEAKER_00]: It's a really complicated show.
07:26 --> 07:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Really interesting seeing the perspective of the vampire Lestas after the first two seasons out with the perspective of, well, at what we thought was the
07:34 --> 07:47 [SPEAKER_00]: um, the pontilac and in uh, turned out to be another uh, character and as this season's progressing, uh, you're seeing things from a different perspective, so uh, well worth watching, especially if you've seen this first two seasons, uh, fantastic show.
07:48 --> 08:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, some other recommendations from the rest of the team here, uh, John has been watching the fourth season of the Legend of Vox Machina, uh, on Prime video, he's a master fan of that show, tends to watch it while I'm recording and editing, uh, other podcasts that he's not on, so uh, I've been seeing a huge amount of it, but
08:03 --> 08:05 [SPEAKER_00]: He's saying the sport season is really, really good.
08:05 --> 08:11 [SPEAKER_00]: He's enjoying some of the new characters and enjoying the team being back together as well at really good.
08:11 --> 08:29 [SPEAKER_00]: Chris, in between moving case, has been watching Shrinking on Apple TV with Jason Segel and Harrison Ford has been highly recommending that to me for months and months and months and so yeah go go have a watch that if you have a subscription to Apple TV and as you're probably see from the other
08:32 --> 08:47 [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's probably time for me to buy the bullish and add another service, Apple TV to my list of other subscription services that I have, I think I have six at the moment, and I just was avoiding Apple because I don't have a discount for it, so yeah,
08:47 --> 08:50 [SPEAKER_00]: but there's tons and tons of great stuff to watch over there.
08:50 --> 08:51 [SPEAKER_00]: So that's exactly where from Chris and from John.
08:52 --> 09:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Other things to to do with to watch at Taskmaster as I show a highly recommend find a participant or a contestant that you like on any of the seasons.
09:00 --> 09:03 [SPEAKER_00]: There's about 20 I think now or 21 seasons so far.
09:04 --> 09:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Find one that has a contestant that you like and I hope you'll follow the love with that and then you can watch all the rest of the series.
09:09 --> 09:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Each season has at five
09:11 --> 09:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Competitors didn't find contestants in that who do tasks to impress the task master they're always very silly, always very funny and the cast list is incredible over the course the last 20 years, the most recent season had Amy Glattill, Joanna Page, Jill Thomas, I'm Andrea Nucci and come out on then Gianni who you'll know from things like the
09:33 --> 09:44 [SPEAKER_00]: And definitely, well worth a watch, this season was really, really good fun and really enjoyable to have a big American Hollywood star on board along with the usual English comedians as well.
09:44 --> 09:45 [SPEAKER_00]: So, highly recommend that.
09:46 --> 09:47 [SPEAKER_00]: It's something different as well.
09:47 --> 09:53 [SPEAKER_00]: I find that over in YouTube, if you're not in the UK or around and you can find them in YouTube, each of the episodes are available there.
09:53 --> 09:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I just far as I know.
09:58 --> 10:07 [SPEAKER_00]: And if you're a bit of a gamer, if you fancy played some video games while you're hiding from the sun, I've been playing a Batman on a huge Batman fan, really enjoy the LEGO games.
10:07 --> 10:07 [SPEAKER_00]: They're always fun.
10:08 --> 10:08 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have any kids.
10:09 --> 10:16 [SPEAKER_00]: It's just for me to play some fun LEGO type games, but the new legend of the Dark Knight on PlayStation 5 is really good fun.
10:17 --> 10:40 [SPEAKER_00]: takes a view of all of the versions of Batman right back to the 60s all the way through the Nolan films, the Tim Burton films, all those different versions of Batman, all the video game versions of Batman and all the way up to the present day and melds them all together into a pretty comprehensive and pretty comprehensible story telling you how they've moved through all the
10:44 --> 10:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Barbara Gordon coming, becoming back girl, and you have all the rest of the villains, of course, Joker going all the way from Caesar Romero, right up to the most recent version of Heath Ledger's version.
10:54 --> 10:59 [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't get to Barry Killon, unfortunately, but I'm sure they'll get a download of him in the future as well.
10:59 --> 11:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, highly recommend that.
11:01 --> 11:07 [SPEAKER_00]: But I've just finished last, the last couple of weeks, finished the story, but loads and loads of collectibles to get around.
11:07 --> 11:11 [SPEAKER_00]: So that's always well worth your amount of bang for the book that you get from my Lego game.
11:12 --> 11:12 [SPEAKER_00]: It usually
11:14 --> 11:37 [SPEAKER_00]: One of the one for film and TV fans, 007 first liked the first Bond game in many, many years just came out a couple of months ago, started that, it's kind of the way that James Bond becomes 007, you get to train as if you're Bond, really good, really fun action game, starring Patrick Gibson, he may know from Dexter Original Sin, he plays the main role of Bond.
11:37 --> 11:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, really good fun, and you get to learn loads and loads of techniques that Bond uses,
11:41 --> 11:44 [SPEAKER_00]: in various missions, very, very cool.
11:44 --> 11:45 [SPEAKER_00]: So I've been playing that a lot as well.
11:45 --> 11:47 [SPEAKER_01]: So that's all my recommendations.
11:47 --> 12:04 [SPEAKER_00]: They wear tiptoe, house of the Dragon Season 3, night of the Seven Kingdoms, hacks the final season season 5, the Vampire Lestas, X-Men 97, John recommended Vox Maccada, Season 4, and Chris recommended shrinking on Apple TV along with Vox Maccada, Season 4 as well.
12:05 --> 12:06 [SPEAKER_00]: So, that's a stuff to keep your company.
12:07 --> 12:10 [SPEAKER_00]: I keep you going up until the next time we're back here and to be podcast industries.
12:11 --> 12:16 [SPEAKER_00]: This was inspired by a question that I got here from Coffee and Vodka, and he shared some recommendations as well.
12:16 --> 12:18 [SPEAKER_00]: He was recommending X-Men 97 Vampire to Stars.
12:19 --> 12:25 [SPEAKER_00]: He also recommended Banshee, which is on HPL Max, for any fans of the boys who are missing Anthony Starry, recommended that again.
12:25 --> 12:27 [SPEAKER_00]: I started off watching that, I watched the first two episodes of that.
12:27 --> 12:28 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's really enjoyable.
12:28 --> 12:29 [SPEAKER_00]: It's a very...
12:29 --> 12:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, violent show, uh, really good.
12:31 --> 12:35 [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of, um, cut that richer, uh, type, uh, type style to it.
12:35 --> 12:39 [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, but Anthony Star once again, playing another, uh, reprehensible character.
12:39 --> 12:41 [SPEAKER_00]: That's, uh, well, with, well, we're checking that one out.
12:42 --> 12:45 [SPEAKER_00]: So, Herbst also has recommended tons of Apple TV shows.
12:45 --> 12:56 [SPEAKER_00]: He's suggested severance, silo, murder boss, dark matter, pluralist, foundation for all mankind, at monarch and mythic quest, which has, uh, rub, map, map from this, I'll be showing in, in Philadelphia.
12:56 --> 12:58 [SPEAKER_00]: and it's so lots and lots over there.
12:58 --> 13:01 [SPEAKER_00]: I think you just get me to buy the Apple TV subscription as well.
13:02 --> 13:04 [SPEAKER_00]: So lots and lots of stuff to watch.
13:04 --> 13:06 [SPEAKER_00]: I know I watched Pluribus last year.
13:06 --> 13:07 [SPEAKER_00]: I really enjoyed that.
13:07 --> 13:10 [SPEAKER_00]: That was a fantastic show starring at Ray C Horn.
13:10 --> 13:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Really, really good.
13:11 --> 13:12 [SPEAKER_00]: So highly recommend watching that.
13:12 --> 13:14 [SPEAKER_00]: If you do have an Apple TV subscription.
13:15 --> 13:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Penny Lennox recommends hacks and the piss.
13:17 --> 13:33 [SPEAKER_00]: The piss is a show that I feel like I would absolutely love what I can't watch medical drama as I think as far as I can push it is to scrubs anything beyond that with the way they show the injuries and operations.
13:33 --> 13:37 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just a bit too screenish for that even though I'm a massive horror fan I can't take it in real life.
13:38 --> 13:41 [SPEAKER_00]: So I haven't watched any of the piss even though it's on HBO which I do have.
13:42 --> 13:42 [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't watched any of it.
13:42 --> 13:43 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes,
13:43 --> 13:55 [SPEAKER_00]: maybe someday I'll get to watch the episode that has drew our wonderful friend Drew Pail from from Gotham who got lots of plotters for his episode of The Pace, maybe I'll just watch that episode and see how I go.
13:56 --> 14:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Feel the pro-girl, also recommends shrinking as Dick Chris, and he says he's starting on the show with the comeback.
14:03 --> 14:11 [SPEAKER_00]: which is from Lisa Kujo, who you know pretty well from friends at her comedy show which has three seasons and interestingly she does one per decade.
14:11 --> 14:16 [SPEAKER_00]: She's a woman's back in 2005, season two, a 2014, and season three came out this year in 2016.
14:16 --> 14:18 [SPEAKER_00]: So at looking at season four, I guess in
14:20 --> 14:21 [SPEAKER_00]: And tell us what you think, Felipe.
14:22 --> 14:31 [SPEAKER_00]: If you have any shows that you want to recommend to our listeners or to us, you can email us to feedback at tvpodcastindustries.com We'd love to hear from you.
