Invincible 402 "I'll Give You The Grand Tour" Synopsis
Created by: Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, Cory Walker
Episode Written by: Simon Racioppa
Directed by: Jason Zurek
On the way to Talescria, home of the Coalition of Planets, Nolan recounts his ruthless Viltrumite upbringing to Allen the alien, detailing how he taught young cadets and was severely beaten by his parents to prove his adulthood.
Shortly after, a devastating biological weapon, the Scourge virus, decimated the Viltrumites, including Nolan's parents. The Grand Regent quarantined the sick, blockaded the planet, and exterminated all alien slaves aware of the plague to protect their biggest flaw.
The few remaining Viltrumites spread across the galaxy to find genetically compatible species, such as humans, for reproduction.
On Talescria, Thaedus reveals he is the infamous Betrayer who assassinated the famous Viltrumite leader Emperor Argall which led to the initial cleanse of the species.
Utilizing Nolan's knowledge, Allen helps covertly gather scattered ancient weapons and allies, including Space Racer and toxic Sinlak beetles for the Coalition to help destroy the Viltrimite threat.
When they return, Thaedus privately confesses to Nolan that he also engineered the Scourge virus and possesses an improved strain. Though angered, Nolan departs to recruit his son from Earth after Thaedus assures the virus is only a last resort.
Meanwhile, on the Viltrumite homeworld, Conquest returns and reports his failure to Grand Regent Thragg

01:27.585 --> 01:28.165
[DEREK]: Welcome back.
01:28.185 --> 01:29.127
[DEREK]: I was John.
01:29.467 --> 01:29.587
[DEREK]: Yes.
01:29.607 --> 01:30.468
[DEREK]: I was John.
01:30.849 --> 01:31.590
[DEREK]: But now I'm Chris.
01:31.890 --> 01:32.210
[DEREK]: You were.
01:32.251 --> 01:34.714
[DEREK]: Well, welcome back to your adulthood's day, Chris.
01:35.234 --> 01:35.655
[DEREK]: Thank you.
01:36.416 --> 01:37.077
[DEREK]: Thank you.
01:37.097 --> 01:38.198
[CHRIS]: Are you going to beat me up?
01:38.218 --> 01:40.301
[DEREK]: I guess that means I have to beat you up, too.
01:40.321 --> 01:40.981
[CHRIS]: Kind of.
01:41.001 --> 01:41.102
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
01:41.122 --> 01:41.642
[CHRIS]: Hey, look.
01:41.682 --> 01:43.044
[CHRIS]: Some people are into that.
01:43.104 --> 01:44.125
[CHRIS]: I'm not person, people.
01:44.145 --> 01:44.886
[CHRIS]: Like you know.
01:44.926 --> 01:47.089
[CHRIS]: Hey, each to their own.
01:47.069 --> 01:48.271
[DEREK]: I'm also not into it.
01:48.291 --> 01:49.893
[DEREK]: I'm more of a lover of a lot of fighter Chris.
01:50.074 --> 01:54.220
[DEREK]: So I promise I won't come around and beat you up for not being here for the first episode of the season.
01:54.701 --> 01:55.102
[CHRIS]: Thank you.
01:55.122 --> 01:55.763
[CHRIS]: Thank you.
01:55.783 --> 01:56.364
[DEREK]: Just this time.
01:56.524 --> 01:57.485
[CHRIS]: Just this one.
01:57.505 --> 01:57.906
[DEREK]: Exactly.
01:57.926 --> 01:58.226
[DEREK]: Exactly.
01:58.447 --> 01:59.949
[DEREK]: But we just have John as a special guest.
02:00.330 --> 02:07.681
[DEREK]: And I think that is my fault because I said on our recap of the year episode that John has never done an invincible episode.
02:07.701 --> 02:12.208
[DEREK]: So kind of guaranteed he was going to be doing one for this season, even though he did not expect it at all.
02:12.228 --> 02:15.253
[DEREK]: So thanks very much for
02:15.689 --> 02:32.314
[CHRIS]: Yes, no it is much appreciated much to my sugar in at the 11th hour not even at the 11th hour and 55 minutes I got called into a day job emergency and glitchy had to go
02:32.294 --> 02:46.637
[CHRIS]: I can't do this now, but yes, luckily we do have a third podcast or who can upon the stepping, when we are talking about this beautiful ship.
02:46.657 --> 02:47.839
[CHRIS]: It is really good.
02:47.859 --> 02:55.872
[CHRIS]: It is really just, I, I'm going to quickly just say, when I watch episode one, I went,
02:56.645 --> 03:23.614
[CHRIS]: Oh, now I remember why I love this for so many reasons and you want to know what of the tiniest, tiniest reasons why it's just the music oh yeah the use of music in this show is just spectacular when they play the radio had song last season yeah and then this season we open
03:23.594 --> 03:34.161
[CHRIS]: with a similar type of montage sent to a very slow melodic very melancholy.
03:34.664 --> 03:54.799
[CHRIS]: just soulful music and like that's your opening most other shows we go right now we're opening splash bang I want all of like I want a rock opera and you're like no no we're just gonna slow like I was just
03:55.589 --> 04:09.370
[CHRIS]: That is one of the reasons, and probably one of the top reasons I love the show, which is just, they do something very iconic, and it is very different to watch you have it.
04:09.390 --> 04:13.536
[DEREK]: I'm reintroducing you to your heroes going, oh god, this is terrible.
04:14.217 --> 04:15.579
[DEREK]: We have to wait and fight again.
04:15.719 --> 04:17.863
[DEREK]: Oh, that's one of the home play my video games.
04:17.983 --> 04:24.853
[DEREK]: No, you have to go ahead and fight the things that are killing Earth.
04:24.833 --> 04:26.655
[DEREK]: a lot first episode, a really good episode.
04:27.136 --> 04:42.713
[DEREK]: And we had a couple of questions for you, Chris, and for us, we missed a couple of things that we wanted to ask, there was a couple of characters that were highlighted in the opening scenes that we hadn't really seen before, some people that just appeared in there that had that just background characters in previous seasons that we couldn't pick out.
04:43.374 --> 04:47.398
[DEREK]: And the only other question that we had was, should
04:47.378 --> 05:07.446
[DEREK]: Mark have killed Conquest at the end of last season or could he have killed sorry could he have killed not should he have Should he have is more moral question could he have killed Conquest is the question that I really have about the Viltramites and some of that gets answered in the second episode here Really just it just because we've seen Markle up against Viltramites quite
05:07.426 --> 05:09.571
[DEREK]: a lot over the course of the last couple of seasons.
05:10.293 --> 05:15.066
[DEREK]: And nobody seems to die after battles that really should be killing them.
05:15.086 --> 05:18.554
[DEREK]: Could he possibly have killed Conquest was the was the question that we had?
05:18.595 --> 05:23.848
[DEREK]: And I think we'll get into that probably in this episode with all of the stuff that's going on with the little two nights, right?
05:24.217 --> 05:41.247
[DEREK]: Let's say there is a lot to discuss when it comes to the death and finality of death.
05:41.227 --> 05:42.509
[DEREK]: at this stage bush.
05:43.030 --> 05:51.505
[DEREK]: If you are joining us for the first time for our invisible podcast for Season 4 of the show, please pop on our website at tvpodcastindustries.com.

[DEREK]: at podcast that we've done, getting up to a thousand episodes of the podcast.
06:08.616 --> 06:09.577
[DEREK]: I was at a hundred there, Chris.
06:10.780 --> 06:16.070
[DEREK]: I think it's an episode of podcast this year in 2026 at the Grat 9-7-8, I think, at this stage.
06:16.110 --> 06:19.737
[DEREK]: And over the next couple of months, we'll be knocking that closer to 990.
06:20.197 --> 06:20.498

[DEREK]: And then our Facebook group for each and every episode of the shows that we're covering where you can leave your thoughts as you go along.
06:46.651 --> 07:03.849
[CHRIS]: Yes, and there is a lot of thoughts because this is going to be one of those shows where we get into the philosophy of death and murder and super heroics, but before we even do any of those deep dives.
07:04.169 --> 07:05.010
[DEREK]: He's promising a lot here.
07:05.350 --> 07:06.752
[CHRIS]: I am Derek.
07:06.772 --> 07:10.836
[CHRIS]: Do you want to tell us who gave us what we're
07:11.187 --> 07:16.358
[DEREK]: absolutely the show is of course based on the comic series by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Othley.
07:16.639 --> 07:19.064
[DEREK]: The show is developed by Robert Kirkman and Simon Oceoppa.
07:19.304 --> 07:27.622
[DEREK]: The show is produced by Robert Kirkman David Alpert, Catherine Winder, Simon Oceoppa, Margaret M. Dean, Seth Rogan and Evan Gilbert.
07:27.902 --> 07:30.107
[DEREK]: This episode written by co-show owner Simon.
07:30.087 --> 07:45.666
[DEREK]: Rhys Yopper, this is his seventh episode of the show, is involved behind the scenes in pretty much every single episode as well, and the episode is directed by Jason Zurich, and this is his fourth episode of Invincible as well, so this team all sticking together throughout the last couple of seasons of the show.
07:46.327 --> 07:59.503
[DEREK]: This show has confirmed again a season five of the show expected to come March next year and season six probably going to be on another year on after that, so we are expecting to get confirmation that the show is being renewed again
07:59.787 --> 08:04.093
[CHRIS]: Yeah, it's just one of these shows that seemingly
08:05.373 --> 08:08.998
[CHRIS]: It's the numbers are there globally.
08:09.098 --> 08:22.935
[CHRIS]: The numbers are there, but it's only when you actually random me top to someone and go If you're hurt with the show in principle, I'm like, yes, yes, I have let me tell you more about it If you pass in the future.com, yeah, subscribe to my podcast.
08:22.975 --> 08:23.556
[DEREK]: I have thoughts.
08:24.197 --> 08:32.087
[DEREK]: I have lots of thoughts With that Chris, do you want to give us these synopsis for this episode of Invincible Season 4 episode 2?
08:32.387 --> 08:33.709
[DEREK]: I'll give you the ground tour
08:34.195 --> 08:50.357
[CHRIS]: Sure, on the way to Alaska, home with a coalition of planets, Nolan recounts his ruthless full-traumite upbringing to Alan the Alien, detailing how he taught young cadets and was fairly beaten by his own parents to prove his own adulthood.
08:50.957 --> 08:58.988
[CHRIS]: Shortly after, a devastating biological weapon, the scared buyers, decimated the full-traumites, including Nolan's own parents,
08:59.963 --> 09:09.366
[CHRIS]: The grand region quarantine the sick, blockaded the planet and exterminated all alien slaves where if the plague to protect their biggest flaw weakens.
09:10.426 --> 09:17.962
[CHRIS]: The few remaining vulgar mites spread across the galaxy to find genetically compatible species, such as humans, for their own reproduction.
09:18.924 --> 09:30.088
[CHRIS]: On Talaskria, Theta's reveals he is the infamous betrayer who assassinated the famous vulgar mites leader, Emperor Argo, which led to the initial cleanse of the species.
09:31.503 --> 09:44.753
[CHRIS]: utilizing Nolan's knowledge, Alan helps covertly gather scattered ancient weapons and allies, including the space racer and the toxic sin-like beetles for the coalition to help destroy the bulge of my threat.
09:46.420 --> 09:55.971
[CHRIS]: When they returned, Theta's privately confesses to Nolan that he also engineered the scourge virus and possesses an improved strain now.
09:56.612 --> 10:04.721
[CHRIS]: Though angered Nolan departs to recruit his son from Earth, as her Theta's sure is the virus's only at last resort.
10:05.862 --> 10:14.352
[CHRIS]: Meanwhile, on the Voldromite Homeworld, Conquest returns and reports his failure to the
10:14.534 --> 10:19.421
[CHRIS]: And we hear Throg talk, and he is the one and only leap-ass.
10:20.503 --> 10:21.324
[CHRIS]: Yes, he is.
10:21.344 --> 10:27.934
[CHRIS]: Oh, that man is just now synonymous with sci-epic sci-fi, as that kind of emperors.
10:28.575 --> 10:29.617
[CHRIS]: He just has that.
10:30.498 --> 10:32.521
[CHRIS]: I'm supposed to pose in gravitas.
10:33.563 --> 10:33.683
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
10:33.703 --> 10:37.229
[CHRIS]: It's just that kind of voice that they just like, yeah, we need that to him.
10:37.289 --> 10:38.170
[CHRIS]: There you go.
10:38.190 --> 10:39.512
[CHRIS]: That's our voice we need.
10:39.492 --> 10:47.945
[DEREK]: Yes, Leapy's of course known for his role in Garden of the Galaxy as Ronin the Accuser in the first one, the guy who was down-soft against, I guess he'd say.
10:49.126 --> 11:00.403
[DEREK]: Also in the Hobos trilogy, he was the Elf Lord in there, and recently he was in the not-so-grace remake of the Running Man.
11:00.383 --> 11:01.324
[CHRIS]: Oh, that is true.
11:01.645 --> 11:06.632
[CHRIS]: I was actually going to say he is also one of the lead stars in foundation.
11:07.173 --> 11:08.034
[DEREK]: Well, that's what you see.
11:08.054 --> 11:10.638
[CHRIS]: And that is the one, the Apple Plus one with YouTube.
11:10.658 --> 11:18.870
[CHRIS]: You have your blood spot where he plays that one of the major emperors of the foundation storyline.
11:19.230 --> 11:21.073
[CHRIS]: So did that day up.
11:21.093 --> 11:21.433
[CHRIS]: That's it.
11:21.454 --> 11:23.877
[CHRIS]: That's where I was like, oh, major emperor.
11:23.857 --> 11:24.659
[CHRIS]: major emperor.
11:24.960 --> 11:27.847
[CHRIS]: Now you just need him in doom and like he's then done the trifecta.
11:28.188 --> 11:30.313
[CHRIS]: Yes, um, but great to see him here.
11:30.413 --> 11:32.639
[CHRIS]: But let's get into it because that's right at the end.
11:32.659 --> 11:39.857
[CHRIS]: Let's move all the way back to the beginning of this conversation and get into our top points for this episode.
11:40.023 --> 11:43.128
[DEREK]: Absolutely, yeah, point number one, we've got to start with a scourge, right?
11:43.349 --> 12:00.879
[DEREK]: Um, what a great way to open the episode, finally getting the backstory, the Wilchmites we have had reveals in the past, about little moments in the past, talking about the Wilchmites we've had, the major characters coming to Earth and fighting against, uh, against Mark, we've had them fight against Nolan and Alan in the past.
12:01.440 --> 12:05.187
[DEREK]: Um, but here we have a scene taking place on,
12:05.167 --> 12:12.577
[DEREK]: Viltrum, I guess, is the planet name where the Viltrumites live, and Nolan is training these kids.
12:12.657 --> 12:21.388
[DEREK]: So we get kind of a tale of the history of Viltrum, why they are such a powerful people that live on this planet.
12:21.529 --> 12:24.913
[DEREK]: There was the death of the previous leader, they killed off all the week.
12:24.893 --> 12:26.515
[DEREK]: and only maintain the strong.
12:26.876 --> 12:32.043
[DEREK]: And now they are in a massive strong position during the training that Nolan's talking to the kids about.
12:32.083 --> 12:39.152
[DEREK]: He's telling them, you know, go find yourself some food and shelter if you can and make sure you're treading up tomorrow morning with a weapon because two years are going to die.
12:39.172 --> 12:41.295
[DEREK]: And if you turn up that weapon, it's probably going to be you.
12:41.976 --> 12:50.648
[DEREK]: Yeah, this is a horrible, horrible place where people are just bread to be hard and evil and
12:50.898 --> 12:52.199
[DEREK]: very, very strong, I guess.
12:53.160 --> 12:53.420
[DEREK]: Yep.
12:53.440 --> 13:18.964
[CHRIS]: So this was this back part is from the comics and it's expanded upon which I found so beautiful because like even just the the the the way they have envisioned the rest of the film and how it looks and the rest of the society that you get panels in the
13:18.944 --> 13:37.286
[CHRIS]: It's on a different level, so I was so happy to see how this was pulled together, because you get that explanation of Emperor Argo, who is the one who moved the Viltrimites towards that path of strength and forosity is the only way.
13:37.826 --> 13:46.757
[CHRIS]: You rule to an iron fist, you rule through pure will, and not in the green lantern type of way.
13:46.737 --> 13:48.059
[DEREK]: Maybe it's a red lantern.
13:48.079 --> 13:49.982
[CHRIS]: Yeah, maybe it's the anger.
13:51.384 --> 13:54.849
[CHRIS]: So this was really fun to see that straight out.
13:55.390 --> 14:02.420
[CHRIS]: And then this element of, well, you've got your kids being shown to beat each other and scared.
14:02.440 --> 14:09.431
[CHRIS]: And there's that one moment where T, Nolan, who we find to be Nolan, is teaching the cadets.
14:09.551 --> 14:11.614
[CHRIS]: And he has that kid.
14:11.594 --> 14:20.963
[CHRIS]: and the kid's head in his heart where if he had a gutter wrong, that kid was no more.
14:21.263 --> 14:23.848
[CHRIS]: there's an element of tension just building with this.
14:24.128 --> 14:32.945
[DEREK]: Yeah, you wouldn't have how many kids were actually in the in the class of the beginning of this semester, you know, where they're like 60 kids at the beginning and now we're down to the last age or nine.
14:33.145 --> 14:34.828
[DEREK]: Yeah.
14:35.209 --> 14:36.472
[CHRIS]: And then you get adulthood.
14:37.193 --> 14:37.594
[DEREK]: Yes.
14:37.714 --> 14:44.166
[CHRIS]: The adulthood day of adulthood and that is just such an interesting
14:46.542 --> 15:06.222
[CHRIS]: sequence I think it's probably the best way because you think it's shit you don't it's only slowly revealed it's known as mother and father it's such a unique thing because you think oh okay maybe it's just his training team or something and then you find out as parents jack oh oh
15:06.202 --> 15:07.404
[CHRIS]: I understand.
15:07.684 --> 15:07.965
[DEREK]: Yeah.
15:08.305 --> 15:08.646
[DEREK]: I don't know.
15:08.706 --> 15:14.515
[DEREK]: I probably because of the show and the way to show it is, I guessed it was Nolan.
15:14.635 --> 15:24.210
[DEREK]: First, reasonably quickly, I was like, okay, this is probably a flashback because we know from what Nolan has told us this is only 50 Viltramites left, so that's probably Nolan in a flashback.
15:24.631 --> 15:26.714
[DEREK]: And then when they started punching them, I was going, this is his parents.
15:27.154 --> 15:28.176
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
15:28.156 --> 15:55.367
[DEREK]: And then he said mother and I went okay grand maybe it's mother and boyfriend rather than mother and father No, definitely father because father lets him off, but it's when his mother turns around and after the adulting Peace and his father stops killing him and goes okay now pick up your stuff tomorrow morning Stand up like an adult kind of thing there that you are and as mother goes I hope I never see either of you again You're both as weak as each other and flies off into the distance.
15:55.387 --> 15:56.508
[DEREK]: I was got okay right.
15:56.568 --> 15:57.589
[DEREK]: I see now
15:57.569 --> 15:59.431
[DEREK]: how horrible these two people are.
15:59.992 --> 16:04.378
[DEREK]: At least his father didn't kill him, which is kind of what Nellon did for Mark.
16:05.119 --> 16:06.801
[DEREK]: But it's interesting.
16:07.081 --> 16:08.803
[DEREK]: Yeah, that does suit the past.
16:08.823 --> 16:09.164
[DEREK]: Yeah.
16:09.184 --> 16:09.504
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
16:09.584 --> 16:10.485
[DEREK]: Yeah.
16:10.505 --> 16:15.992
[CHRIS]: And what one thing is Nolan does look, I have to call it the character design.
16:16.373 --> 16:18.936
[CHRIS]: No, it does look very like Mark.
16:18.916 --> 16:19.457
[DEREK]: You do this.
16:19.557 --> 16:21.019
[CHRIS]: Yes, and it's interesting.
16:21.039 --> 16:27.608
[CHRIS]: Like there's you do notice they're different, but like they merged it quite well.
16:27.708 --> 16:44.972
[DEREK]: And I was like absolutely and isn't isn't wasn't there kind of a nod to that in Oliver That the reason why Oliver is the way he is and we hear about a little bit later in the episode actually The reason why Oliver looks the way he does not like the rest of his species because of the power of the Viltrimites DNA.
16:45.092 --> 16:45.733
[DEREK]: Let's say
16:45.713 --> 16:49.978
[DEREK]: and it will take over, it means that Oliver will live much longer than anybody else.
16:50.038 --> 16:52.682
[DEREK]: And his species will ever live because of the Viltramite DNA.
16:52.702 --> 17:00.712
[DEREK]: So, very similar, why Mark looks similar to Noah or more similar to Noah than he does to Davies is because, well, it's Noah, then anything's so much.
17:00.732 --> 17:04.837
[DEREK]: So, I love how they just throw all of this stuff in, it's in the background, it's there.
17:05.057 --> 17:06.759
[DEREK]: You know, they're not missing anything.
17:06.779 --> 17:07.800
[DEREK]: They've written this thing.
17:07.861 --> 17:11.065
[DEREK]: They know it better than all the rest of us, because they spend more time with it.
17:11.085 --> 17:11.485
[DEREK]: So, yeah.
17:11.465 --> 17:16.175
[CHRIS]: How did you, how did you take, because I knew the rings of the film?
17:16.776 --> 17:20.363
[CHRIS]: I knew about it, how did you, what how did you feel about this?
17:20.403 --> 17:21.165
[CHRIS]: Like, what did you think?
17:21.265 --> 17:27.297
[CHRIS]: Because I knew it was coming, because that is a big, or I suppose it's a reveal.
17:27.277 --> 17:27.998
[DEREK]: It's massive.
17:28.178 --> 17:29.620
[DEREK]: Yeah, it's massive discourage itself.
17:30.420 --> 17:36.046
[DEREK]: You know, we're kind of loved seeing the kind of helicarrers above the the planus of Viltrum.
17:37.208 --> 17:43.174
[DEREK]: This idea that these people think they are completely safe from all attackers because they are the strongest beings.
17:43.214 --> 17:44.135
[DEREK]: They can see everything.
17:44.155 --> 17:51.563
[DEREK]: They can perceive everything and then we see something drop into the planus and that is the scourge which is released across the plan of killing
17:51.543 --> 18:18.681
[DEREK]: millions of billions of Wilchmites, you know, everybody thinks they have a bad one, one Wilchmite turned so upon their planet to fight against them, can you imagine if there was Legion turning up on your in your cellular system to take you guys, but here it here's the scourge taking damage and it was a real surprise to me, you know, that it happening day one of Nolan's training, the other cadets around him starting to succumb to a blood coming out of their eyes
18:18.661 --> 18:27.168
[DEREK]: and then it's more and more and more to the point where it's only people who've recovered from the virus that are still alive.
18:27.208 --> 18:47.286
[DEREK]: So there is a really interesting line from I think is it Thraggers is it creed that says it who we've met before where they say this will only make a stronger because the ones that have survived that are the ones that have gone through it had the virus and survived that are even stronger than the ones that we had before.
18:47.386 --> 18:47.706
[DEREK]: So
18:47.686 --> 18:54.553
[DEREK]: Even though they're down to 50, they are the 50 strongest Viltrimites kind of what we're learning from this There's 50 of the strongest Viltrimites.
18:54.573 --> 18:56.059
[CHRIS]: Yes, which is it
18:57.102 --> 19:00.525
[CHRIS]: is an interesting take, but it is completely yes.
19:00.645 --> 19:04.089
[CHRIS]: Because it is dry, who says that as the emperor is like, well, we have it.
19:04.109 --> 19:07.672
[DEREK]: I do think he says it before there's billions dead.
19:08.053 --> 19:09.374
[DEREK]: Yes, it did.
19:09.394 --> 19:12.036
[DEREK]: But it's the realized that many are going to die.
19:12.157 --> 19:21.425
[CHRIS]: But the two-year question from at the beginning of this show, like they are left weakened in the state post-skirts virus.
19:21.826 --> 19:22.106
[CHRIS]: Right.
19:22.166 --> 19:24.088
[CHRIS]: So those who
19:25.182 --> 19:28.003
[CHRIS]: Survive, do have a weekend.
19:28.388 --> 19:55.341
[CHRIS]: they're not as powerful and not as strong as say, non-skurged bulgeumites, which is still interesting because if you think that the bulgeumites we have met before to this point, these 50 of the 50, they're all
19:55.321 --> 20:03.551
[CHRIS]: Yeah, and if you think like, oh, okay, well, if they're already at like still a half capacity, can you imagine where was before?
20:04.896 --> 20:07.204
[CHRIS]: So they are
20:07.960 --> 20:19.932
[CHRIS]: Voldemort's can die, they just were generous, but those who have been scurged regenerate slower and have a bit more vulnerability.
20:20.232 --> 20:34.727
[CHRIS]: So that's why Nolan can be caught the way he can be caught, because they have all covered from the scurge, whereas previously it would take another wheelchair-mite level to really injure them.
20:34.707 --> 20:49.088
[CHRIS]: I eat when you see his training and a Nolan's training and a tilted like like he doesn't get what should be destroyed to the level that you would expect when his like mother is essentially
20:49.523 --> 20:51.668
[DEREK]: beating the hell out of that.
20:51.688 --> 20:51.848
[DEREK]: Yeah.
20:52.209 --> 20:53.171
[DEREK]: Yeah.
20:53.211 --> 20:53.772
[DEREK]: Carb stop.
20:53.832 --> 20:54.012
[DEREK]: Yeah.
20:54.453 --> 20:54.874
[DEREK]: Pretty much.
20:55.175 --> 20:55.335
[DEREK]: Yeah.
20:56.097 --> 20:56.538
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
20:57.059 --> 21:00.105
[DEREK]: And there's one more kind of final reveal out of all of this.
21:00.145 --> 21:04.495
[DEREK]: You know, we know now why they're down to the level that Nolan has said.
21:04.535 --> 21:06.098
[DEREK]: And, um,
21:06.078 --> 21:27.900
[DEREK]: We do hear from the from Grand Region Thrag that he wants to kill anybody infected kill anybody that knows about it Who lives in the planet because that takes away the knowledge of the virus from everybody outside of the planet and then that's why the reveal of the being on the 50 Viltramites is such a surprise to everybody because everybody thought there was so many more and
21:27.880 --> 21:40.692
[DEREK]: And then the final reveal, which is almost dealt with as a joke, which is when it comes back to the moment when it's actually Alan hearing all this from no one on their flight back.
21:41.414 --> 21:46.981
[DEREK]: that Nolan reveals that actually he was wasn't on earth to take over earth alone that was part of it.
21:47.001 --> 21:54.611
[DEREK]: He would eventually take over earth, but mostly what he was sent to it in the world to do was bang their way across the galaxy as Alan says.
21:55.011 --> 21:58.956
[DEREK]: He's like, well, I wouldn't say it exactly like that, but yes, it's a fine compatible species.
21:59.016 --> 22:01.279
[DEREK]: Go it and run and try and repopulate.
22:01.259 --> 22:09.374
[DEREK]: The Viltramite Race, otherwise we would be in a very small pool of just the 50 Viltramites expanding that we're continuing on society, right?
22:09.955 --> 22:15.586
[DEREK]: So, I'm interested in reveal, and hilarious, of course, because Alan has turned it into just banging your way across the galaxy, right?
22:16.106 --> 22:22.879
[CHRIS]: But it's because we do know that they do do this, and because we've seen this with
22:22.859 --> 22:31.446
[CHRIS]: other, but it is the human DNA that is the closest and most compatible to me.
22:31.466 --> 22:45.438
[CHRIS]: And so far, that can, because he does say it, Nolan says it, Mark is nearly as strong as him, comparative to any other species famed in the galaxy.
22:46.079 --> 22:51.904
[CHRIS]: So that's an interesting thing again,
22:52.070 --> 22:56.876
[CHRIS]: consider day such a prize for the Vilchumite Empire.
22:57.217 --> 23:04.927
[CHRIS]: Now you start to understand more and you kind of have to connect dots yourselves because they want to come out and say rice directly now but it is one of the most important bits.
23:04.947 --> 23:06.188
[CHRIS]: Yeah yeah absolutely.
23:07.450 --> 23:10.614
[CHRIS]: So that's the scourge and that's the interesting.
23:10.734 --> 23:18.364
[CHRIS]: I do want to move into some of the other parts of this story if we can so we move on to part two.
23:19.863 --> 23:23.427
[CHRIS]: finding of the weapons, because I loved this last season.
23:23.567 --> 23:32.157
[CHRIS]: So this is a piece I always loved, which is Nolan wrote sci-fi books for a brief stint back and when he became an author on earth.
23:32.918 --> 23:45.432
[CHRIS]: And really it was notes and memoirs to himself to find that have a number of weapons and allies and things that
23:46.441 --> 23:52.407
[CHRIS]: would have been and are still problems for the bulgemaid empire.
23:52.747 --> 23:59.353
[CHRIS]: Yes, and ways like weapons that can harm bulgemaid or allies who could take on bulgemaid at the same level.
24:00.154 --> 24:09.002
[CHRIS]: And he put them in code, he put them in his books, and it was for himself, but now we see that he's using that memory as well.
24:09.583 --> 24:14.828
[CHRIS]: And to kind of bring through quite a lot of
24:15.989 --> 24:22.158
[CHRIS]: Well, what should have been quite a lot of allies and weapons?
24:22.518 --> 24:23.880
[DEREK]: Yeah, like this is really exciting.
24:24.221 --> 24:38.942
[DEREK]: I really surprised how it was done, though because we talked about it last season when there were maybe even season two when they were packing up Nolan's stuff and Mark Fend, the sci-fi books that Nolan had written, found the travel books that Nolan had written.
24:38.922 --> 24:48.031
[DEREK]: and we were talking about it and going with pay attention to those, you know, those will come back later in a couple of seasons time, like everything bills in this show, you know, and then it turns out actually it didn't come back at all.
24:48.592 --> 24:51.635
[DEREK]: Mark didn't find them, Mark didn't use them to locate the weapons.
24:51.915 --> 24:54.938
[DEREK]: It's actually Nolan, not just went back to his own sci-fi books.
24:55.599 --> 24:58.382
[DEREK]: You know, you think he probably remembers himself, but I do like that.
24:58.422 --> 25:03.327
[DEREK]: I like the banter, of course, between that, between Nolan and Alan as well, where Alan's kind of going, um,
25:03.307 --> 25:09.017
[DEREK]: I don't really read sci-fi, not my thing, and actually, your novels aren't really novels, they're novellas.
25:10.920 --> 25:11.562
[DEREK]: That's best case.
25:12.283 --> 25:12.984
[DEREK]: That was really good.
25:13.024 --> 25:22.581
[DEREK]: There's also some interesting stuff going on on the coalition of planets, home worlds, where
25:22.561 --> 25:31.711
[DEREK]: Nolan's up in front of their leader, effectively, up in front of Thadius, telling him he's not there to join their calls.
25:31.771 --> 25:37.437
[DEREK]: He's there to hand over some information to them, but he's not there to join the calls against the Vultimates.
25:37.457 --> 25:49.851
[DEREK]: He still has that so deeply ingrained in him that he's not going to be fighting on their side, but technically he's giving weapons to them to fight against the Vultimates,
25:49.915 --> 25:58.339
[CHRIS]: It's an interesting semantic of kind of for the character because what we do end up getting is, well, I'm not going to
25:59.433 --> 26:08.043
[CHRIS]: condemned my own species to extension, but I'm happy to help give you a tool, and maybe you can do us.
26:08.063 --> 26:08.644
[DEREK]: Interesting isn't it?
26:08.684 --> 26:17.534
[DEREK]: I don't know where I've heard that before, you know, you saw something about a country arming another country that ended off using those weapons against them.
26:17.895 --> 26:18.736
[CHRIS]: Yeah, I don't.
26:18.756 --> 26:19.296
[CHRIS]: Yes.
26:19.316 --> 26:29.068
[CHRIS]: It's just a very interesting thing.
26:29.048 --> 26:31.292
[CHRIS]: the journey of this part.
26:31.392 --> 26:31.893
[CHRIS]: Absolutely.
26:31.953 --> 26:32.173
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
26:32.493 --> 26:40.266
[CHRIS]: Beyond Alan and Seth Rogan still delivering on what Alan is just so well.
26:40.626 --> 26:41.308
[DEREK]: Yeah.
26:41.468 --> 26:52.305
[DEREK]: They've even put videos out of him behind the scenes showing her great he is doing this role and the kind of not in-provers such but just his line delivery that nobody else.
26:52.285 --> 26:53.708
[DEREK]: would be absolutely very great.
26:54.209 --> 26:54.309
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
26:54.329 --> 26:55.471
[CHRIS]: And thanks.
26:55.491 --> 26:55.812
[CHRIS]: Thank you.
26:55.832 --> 27:04.348
[CHRIS]: It's the they did the joke from the comic books about Nolan on the couch, which I did nothing they would do.
27:04.388 --> 27:14.968
[CHRIS]: Again, I why I assumed they wouldn't do it in a crit-key in Goldberg and everything production.
27:16.653 --> 27:17.274
[CHRIS]: But they did.
27:17.434 --> 27:20.880
[CHRIS]: It's the same studios and teams that brought you boys.
27:20.900 --> 27:22.883
[CHRIS]: So, of course, they were going to make that joke.
27:22.903 --> 27:23.363
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
27:23.644 --> 27:23.964
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
27:24.165 --> 27:28.612
[DEREK]: But I, you know, I love everything about the venture and what's going on in the Starship.
27:28.632 --> 27:30.675
[DEREK]: You know, this absolutely useless crew.
27:31.556 --> 27:39.268
[DEREK]: When Alan gets reunite of Italian, tell you guys, look, we're going to take basically the worst chip in the fleet because nobody would suspect that we do that.
27:39.248 --> 27:54.888
[DEREK]: and you see them all, they're all cheap knuckle versions of Star Trek, the next generation characters, including the bold captain, but he's absolutely used to set his job, you know, bits of the ship keep falling off, he keeps promising, everybody don't worry about it.
27:55.128 --> 28:01.536
[DEREK]: We've got this sorted and then when they arrive in their first destination, they're sitting in the middle of a minefield.
28:01.556 --> 28:07.804
[DEREK]: That ain't just torn apart by all of the measures that they're
28:07.784 --> 28:31.345
[DEREK]: Nolan trying to hold back his anger going and why don't you pull out to safety and we'll just you know the two Invincible people on board the ship will fly through the meteor fields Instead, you know, but love that little jokes that are going on there And as you say every time they travel anywhere we just hear Alan and Talia buying constantly as Nolan is just covering his head And then the reveal later on there's
28:31.325 --> 28:37.619
[DEREK]: You know, hundreds of hundreds of Slaces were a good of instaying, but they capped and thought they were in some kind of threesome.
28:37.840 --> 28:38.261
[DEREK]: So yeah.
28:38.381 --> 28:38.682
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
28:38.702 --> 28:39.624
[CHRIS]: The trouble.
28:39.644 --> 28:41.388
[DEREK]: I was like, it's fun.
28:41.569 --> 28:41.829
[CHRIS]: Fantastic.
28:41.849 --> 28:42.651
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
28:42.800 --> 28:44.422
[CHRIS]: So you made space racer.
28:44.983 --> 28:48.106
[CHRIS]: Yes, with the infinity gun, um, which is very cool.
28:48.727 --> 28:49.268
[CHRIS]: I like it.
28:49.348 --> 28:53.052
[CHRIS]: It's again, none of these for me person.
28:53.072 --> 28:53.733
[CHRIS]: We were shocked.
28:54.834 --> 28:56.176
[CHRIS]: Like these are all things I've seen.
28:56.356 --> 28:59.700
[CHRIS]: And but it is it's a fun one.
29:00.281 --> 29:01.021
[CHRIS]: I will call.
29:01.122 --> 29:05.607
[CHRIS]: I want additional that I do like is that they have brought in tech jacks.
29:06.308 --> 29:08.250
[CHRIS]: So now we have seen
29:08.230 --> 29:35.605
[CHRIS]: on, we have seen Tech Chakas in this, we haven't really seen him before, and he is a very cool character from that universe in the comics and all that, so I am hoping that maybe one of these episodes in the future of the season, we will get a very fun one because the interaction between
29:35.585 --> 29:40.450
[CHRIS]: Mark and tech jacket and Oliver and tech jacket is cool because he is also a teen.
29:41.552 --> 29:42.573
[DEREK]: Okay, right.
29:42.593 --> 29:46.397
[DEREK]: I know tech jackets had his own spin-off series or comic.
29:46.417 --> 29:48.319
[DEREK]: Yes, as well.
29:48.399 --> 29:57.229
[DEREK]: So, so tech jacket if you missed him in the episode, that was when they went to see the Gildarians and they say that's their warrior tech jacket is on earth.
29:57.950 --> 29:58.911
[DEREK]: Go find in there.
29:58.971 --> 29:59.331
[DEREK]: So,
29:59.311 --> 30:06.807
[DEREK]: and they haven't found him as such, but they've said he's already on Earth, and they go to they're going to seek to make effectively.
30:07.388 --> 30:08.831
[DEREK]: There's some great stuff in here.
30:08.871 --> 30:16.948
[DEREK]: I think I think from me what I really liked about what makes it really exciting is every time throughout the last three seasons that we've seen.
30:16.928 --> 30:19.771
[DEREK]: the Viltramites arrive, you go, well, Mark's strong enough now.
30:19.811 --> 30:20.551
[DEREK]: Maybe you can take them on.
30:20.672 --> 30:21.212
[DEREK]: Nope, not really.
30:22.473 --> 30:23.654
[DEREK]: It's very good for loads of broken bones.
30:23.975 --> 30:25.256
[DEREK]: They get loads of broken bones back.
30:25.296 --> 30:31.101
[DEREK]: They have to go and amp up the violence to take them down, whereas this feels like putting the team together.
30:31.842 --> 30:46.716
[DEREK]: It feels like while we're not specifically saying, there's going to be a massive battle between the Viltramites and Mark and his crew and the Antadiess and his team, they're will that will come eventually,
30:47.303 --> 30:48.906
[DEREK]: being helped along by no one.
30:48.926 --> 30:49.748
[DEREK]: I think it's great fun.
30:50.309 --> 30:56.921
[DEREK]: We see the Sennlack Beatles, which have some of their blood can weaken the Viltromites to physical injury.
30:56.962 --> 30:57.683
[DEREK]: That's really cool.
30:57.723 --> 30:59.286
[DEREK]: We see they're looking for batteries.
30:59.346 --> 31:02.733
[DEREK]: Again, who we saw was in prison for a very, very short time.
31:03.494 --> 31:07.101
[DEREK]: Last season, we see the Ragnar as well, who
31:07.334 --> 31:19.554
[DEREK]: even one of them could take out tons of Viltromites and they all get on frozen because of the stupid venture crew who blow up the one thing keeping them keeping them frozen at hilarious as well.
31:19.614 --> 31:28.309
[DEREK]: But yeah, I think that's really cool that we have five or six different things that when all combine together could help to take that down the building.
31:28.329 --> 31:29.330
[DEREK]: That's that's exciting, right?
31:29.591 --> 31:33.898
[CHRIS]: And helps the coalition so that it's even
31:34.418 --> 31:43.927
[CHRIS]: I always enjoy this tool, these tooling type of episodes, and they're your forces because you do get a number of ones shown to us.
31:44.247 --> 32:04.425
[CHRIS]: But we also do get, say for example, that the ones of the plants they go to, where the vulture might push the planet closer to the sun, and that end up just turning the planet into a desert, and you just see skeletons.
32:04.405 --> 32:16.360
[CHRIS]: kind of hammering comb, they the pure psychosis, you know, I think it's probably, yeah, that is the Vulture might ethos in that.
32:17.021 --> 32:30.058
[DEREK]: And I'll also say if you listen to the actual words that Nolan says, he's the one that pushed the planet out of the sun, he's the one that tried to that was told to kill all the sin-like beetles, but left one alive, just in case, you know,
32:30.038 --> 32:35.949
[DEREK]: he's the one that buried Spaceracer out buried him alive so that he'd get the infinity ray from him.
32:35.969 --> 32:39.034
[DEREK]: So these are these aren't just weapons that he's heard about.
32:39.074 --> 32:39.795
[DEREK]: These are all things.
32:40.136 --> 32:45.786
[DEREK]: He was tasked sent out into the galaxy to stop to ensure that the vilchmites at
32:45.766 --> 32:51.133
[DEREK]: didn't have these weapons used against him and he made some decisions along the way to keep some of them alive.
32:51.654 --> 33:00.366
[DEREK]: He even says he was hoping that some of the people on that planet that he pushed away from the sun at some of the creatures that were there would be alive that he wouldn't have killed them all.
33:01.287 --> 33:06.754
[DEREK]: So yeah, so it's also quite interesting, even though he's saying here, he's not going to join up against the call.
33:06.774 --> 33:15.486
[DEREK]: So you obviously had was questioning the Viltroj
33:15.466 --> 33:16.347
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
33:16.367 --> 33:21.032
[CHRIS]: And then I don't have much, do you have any questions on Amy?
33:21.052 --> 33:25.217
[CHRIS]: Because like, it's a pretty self-explanatory part of the episode.
33:25.237 --> 33:25.898
[CHRIS]: I think so.
33:27.420 --> 33:29.502
[CHRIS]: Because it is, there are some fun things.
33:29.522 --> 33:32.285
[CHRIS]: And again, we mentioned the venture being the venture.
33:32.886 --> 33:33.306
[DEREK]: Yeah.
33:33.326 --> 33:40.815
[CHRIS]: And the captain of the venture, just being less comedic foil,
33:41.639 --> 33:54.343
[CHRIS]: and down the part of it like, hey, here's a planet-wide extinction and then you have a venture joke and then another extinction and then a venture joke.
33:54.363 --> 34:02.398
[DEREK]: Yeah and I guess the final venture joke is the last kind of piece of this which is um which is that they basically
34:02.378 --> 34:14.833
[DEREK]: have a meet in the end and Talia takes over as the captain of the ship, including all the members of his ship when asked whether they wanted to get rid of the captain, everybody on the ship puts up the hand except for the captain.
34:14.893 --> 34:18.036
[DEREK]: So Talia is the new captain of the venture, so that was quite fun.
34:18.777 --> 34:29.550
[DEREK]: And then there was just that little chat we mentioned, Nolan saying he wasn't going to work with the coalition of Blats, and Alan kind of at least
34:29.530 --> 34:53.376
[DEREK]: You may not be now you would look what you've already done look what you're you're giving weapons to me And I'm working with the coalition of planets, maybe at some point even if you don't join them You need to accept that you're you're working with us So about one of us Well, no, that's exactly And it's that is a cute moment where they do hog yeah in front of the in front of the Beatles and you're like Especially because I want point today.
34:53.396 --> 34:59.503
[DEREK]: It was like a couple of weeks ago You probably would have killed me for this and then it goes still much
34:59.483 --> 35:08.993
[CHRIS]: Okay, so that brings us to the end of Scott at the point two and the collection of allies, the fellowship.
35:09.474 --> 35:15.139
[CHRIS]: Yes, let's move on to point three, which is the big reveal.
35:15.180 --> 35:21.166
[CHRIS]: And it isn't, I wanted to say, did you expect this reveal coming?
35:21.206 --> 35:25.170
[CHRIS]: And that is the reveal.
35:25.876 --> 35:53.115
[DEREK]: the betrayer, the betrayer of the known, the bogeyman and the killer of emperror Argyll.
35:53.095 --> 36:05.013
[DEREK]: It feels like generations ago, you know, generation after generations ago, but of course, the Viltrimites live a very long time and that is as a long beard, right?
36:05.033 --> 36:10.581
[DEREK]: But to also say that he was the one responsible for the virus.
36:10.561 --> 36:29.565
[DEREK]: was another layer on the reveal, which kind of suspect maybe, you know, if you thought, I think if I thought about it, I probably would have put it all together, and then the third reveal saying that he was the creator of the virus, and now he has an even stronger virus, which could wipe out every single Viltrimite.
36:29.545 --> 36:32.569
[DEREK]: much easier than the last one did.
36:33.149 --> 36:34.070
[DEREK]: But don't worry about it.
36:34.131 --> 36:34.972
[DEREK]: It's in storage.
36:34.992 --> 36:37.034
[DEREK]: It's not that easy as the last resort.
36:37.054 --> 36:37.695
[DEREK]: Don't worry about it.
36:37.735 --> 36:43.161
[DEREK]: No, then I'd never destroy the entirety of our race, including myself and you and your children.
36:43.582 --> 36:45.384
[DEREK]: And everybody else, the part I'd never do that.
36:45.404 --> 36:46.886
[DEREK]: That's the last resort, only.
36:47.427 --> 36:53.133
[DEREK]: Yeah, it just feels a little bit like if you kill me, I have it tied on my body and it drops.
36:53.414 --> 36:54.315
[DEREK]: That's what I feel like.
36:55.636 --> 36:56.177
[DEREK]: But yeah.
36:56.343 --> 37:03.277
[CHRIS]: Yeah, or is it going to be that heart monitor where it's like you if you take my heart This goes off.
37:03.297 --> 37:04.680
[DEREK]: Yeah, that's what feels like.
37:04.700 --> 37:14.419
[CHRIS]: Yeah, I enjoyed this in the comic books I think the McCluff and that is the scary virus feels and I should call it a McCluff and in a
37:15.209 --> 37:24.144
[CHRIS]: the best sense of the term, you know, if that makes sense, you know, it is that kind of, it is your doomsday apocalyptic piece.
37:24.604 --> 37:27.269
[CHRIS]: That theory ends the show straight away.
37:27.930 --> 37:40.530
[CHRIS]: But it is that kind of, it is that nuclear weapon where if you use it, you kill yourself, it is you, you're kind of, it is the end of everything.
37:41.071 --> 37:41.672
[CHRIS]: So,
37:42.715 --> 37:51.978
[CHRIS]: I enjoy that it is there and it is in the background and you do expect it to come up more more because it is that kind of piece.
37:52.420 --> 37:54.565
[CHRIS]: It is also that piece that pushes
37:55.405 --> 37:56.547
[CHRIS]: Nolan forward.
37:57.468 --> 38:10.566
[CHRIS]: It pushes Nolan to bring in Mark or say that he is going back to earth to discuss and bring Mark into this because you get the like he understands now.
38:10.586 --> 38:15.452
[CHRIS]: Oh and he after like eye twitching the level of rage.
38:17.395 --> 38:21.160
[CHRIS]: And with ideas, he understands that there is no
38:21.140 --> 38:22.923
[CHRIS]: that this is the important part.
38:22.943 --> 38:26.008
[CHRIS]: This is that there is the final bottle coming.
38:26.108 --> 38:29.434
[CHRIS]: You're kind of your doom's day scenario.
38:29.454 --> 38:32.499
[CHRIS]: Your end game, if you will, for your Marvel funds.
38:32.900 --> 38:34.462
[DEREK]: Yes, yeah, absolutely.
38:34.482 --> 38:34.863
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
38:35.584 --> 38:36.425
[DEREK]: Really interesting one.
38:37.207 --> 38:39.250
[DEREK]: To see, I suppose, how
38:39.230 --> 38:44.001
[DEREK]: That there is something in the background again, you know, it's just that thing of what are they going to do?
38:44.041 --> 38:47.829
[DEREK]: Just make even more pair of filtromites over and over again every season.
38:47.849 --> 38:48.511
[DEREK]: You can't have that.
38:48.531 --> 38:52.760
[DEREK]: You have to have something that says, well actually, there is a way to take them all like.
38:52.780 --> 38:53.763
[DEREK]: And we've seen what it did.
38:53.903 --> 38:54.825
[DEREK]: We did took it.
38:54.805 --> 39:10.974
[DEREK]: Billions and which became the rings of the planet as you said earlier on so and so yeah I also really like to Allen's mentioned of the fact that he can take off as Beard and show off the fact that he has a mustache to prove that he is a much if No one needs that confirmation.
39:11.014 --> 39:12.316
[DEREK]: He can do the thing with the beard.
39:12.336 --> 39:18.467
[DEREK]: It just felt that was quite funny because they're all must have So painful and takes ages to grow back
39:18.447 --> 39:20.149
[DEREK]: it is that's it.
39:20.169 --> 39:40.113
[DEREK]: Isn't there isn't there's something about that that's maybe we talked about before we probably did we've been going on for many seasons of the show that basically Ryan Othely and Robert Kirkman both of their dads had moustaches so they thought that would be the funniest thing to put into the drawings of the of the virtuomites these strong people so that they are moustaches just like their parents.
39:41.795 --> 39:43.898
[CHRIS]: I think there was also an element of
39:44.958 --> 40:00.115
[CHRIS]: they've also recently discussed and I don't know if this is one of these pieces that because the show and the competition going for so long that you don't know what is it's been added but magnum PI, Tom Salak
40:00.095 --> 40:05.085
[CHRIS]: When the boys were growing up, where the writers were growing up, they didn't, Tom Salak and Mike and P.I.
40:05.145 --> 40:10.535
[CHRIS]: was anything, and it was fantastic, like handsome man.
40:10.675 --> 40:17.889
[CHRIS]: And you actually do see that Nolan you squint your eyes and turns the left and that a bit of like additional color and put him in it.
40:17.910 --> 40:18.611
[CHRIS]: Tom Salak with it.
40:18.631 --> 40:19.653
[CHRIS]: He's Tom Salak, yes.
40:20.034 --> 40:21.276
[CHRIS]: He's like, oh,
40:21.256 --> 40:32.466
[CHRIS]: So again, I'm like, not sure if that's now a just a thing because I've never heard it before, but I've heard it in the last year and I'm like, ah, okay, you might be retroactively just making some decisions.
40:33.007 --> 40:34.628
[DEREK]: Absolutely, absolutely.
40:34.648 --> 40:36.850
[DEREK]: Anything else on that is a reveal or you?
40:37.511 --> 40:50.503
[CHRIS]: I do only want to start thinking and I think this is something for I'd like you to keep an eye on, which is they've talked about the spice, the bulge of my spice within the coalition of planets.
40:51.715 --> 41:04.576
[CHRIS]: I am interested to see how far they go with this because I don't know what they're going to change because I'm trying to remember and it has been three or the half seasons, well three, the four seasons now.
41:06.058 --> 41:09.724
[CHRIS]: They have shown us and I'm trying to remember that they showed do you remember?
41:09.704 --> 41:18.837
[DEREK]: I think a lot of people have it, it cuts to Talia and she does this shifty eye thing and I'm like, it's not Talia though.
41:18.877 --> 41:22.182
[DEREK]: I know it's not Talia because she's not the votes from her camp here.
41:22.563 --> 41:26.869
[DEREK]: But she does, she did a shifty eye thing when they said there was a spy in amongst them.
41:26.849 --> 41:28.992
[DEREK]: But yes, I can't remember.
41:29.012 --> 41:30.435
[DEREK]: I'm going to have to think about it.
41:30.915 --> 41:39.930
[DEREK]: And if you remember fellow guardians email me in because I can read it and I won't spoil something on air if it hasn't happened.
41:40.791 --> 41:41.292
[CHRIS]: Yeah.
41:41.312 --> 41:44.457
[CHRIS]: So I knew when you tried to comic books, don't email in.
41:44.717 --> 41:49.785
[CHRIS]: But if it isn't the show, they have because I'm pretty sure they've alluded to it in the show.
41:50.052 --> 41:51.454
[DEREK]: I feel like we talked about it on Monday.
41:51.474 --> 41:56.822
[DEREK]: They had, but I'm always certain that I know who it is, but if it isn't, I don't want to spoil that.
41:56.862 --> 41:57.783
[DEREK]: That's what I'm trying to say.
41:57.803 --> 42:03.511
[DEREK]: So yes, if you email into us or Chris can whisper in my ear off air, and I'll go, oh yeah, that's exactly what I think.
42:03.632 --> 42:04.232
[DEREK]: Well, that's right.
42:04.713 --> 42:07.437
[DEREK]: And so, but I just don't want to say it on air, just in case I'm wrong.
42:07.417 --> 42:11.585
[DEREK]: And so last moment from the episode we need to talk about is just the post-credits.
42:11.826 --> 42:18.078
[DEREK]: We had talked about the last episode about naked conquest flying over Earth and then he's traveling back.
42:18.159 --> 42:23.890
[DEREK]: So he travels back to Viltrum to apologize and ask for death.
42:23.870 --> 42:33.211
[DEREK]: You know, he goes to Thrag to tell him he wants to be punished for losing his concentration and allowing the boy to beat him effectively.
42:33.631 --> 42:39.424
[DEREK]: But interestingly, I'm probably only because of the 50 Viltrimites last.
42:39.945 --> 42:42.992
[DEREK]: Thrag leaves him alive, and his job isn't done.
42:43.377 --> 42:51.937
[CHRIS]: Yeah, and like this is very much the introduction of, yeah, you get that, the money shots.
42:52.378 --> 43:00.677
[CHRIS]: But I suppose it is, is that the iconic villainous pose that is
43:00.657 --> 43:03.503
[DEREK]: Yeah, I think you'll find me got the money shot last week of conquest.
43:03.723 --> 43:06.809
[CHRIS]: That's what it sounds like.
43:07.350 --> 43:15.326
[CHRIS]: I enjoy this because it's really the delivery by me is just very iconic in that.
43:15.346 --> 43:21.197
[CHRIS]: Yeah, but also it's just I've been waiting for this character because this character for me is
43:22.156 --> 43:38.106
[CHRIS]: It's your auntie, Nolan, your auntie, Mark, your auntie, everything because he is, he embodies everything that is the virtual my vampire with a monarchy and style, empire style, kind of.
43:39.655 --> 44:03.148
[CHRIS]: I said I was to kind of tone gravitas and just monarch swagger if you Yeah, because it is just that that like my my my say is Lost what I what I do what I say is everything and you see conquest who Like it took an an army of superheroes to try and take them
44:03.449 --> 44:13.850
[DEREK]: Yeah, he took and he's basically turning yourself inside age and using her entire brand new power set to take it in as well as as well as a market.
44:13.870 --> 44:18.299
[CHRIS]: Yeah, and and Congress killed so many others.
44:18.940 --> 44:23.449
[CHRIS]: Then you've just got now he is influential too.
44:24.391 --> 44:33.914
[CHRIS]: to the emperor, so like that is the one that you're like, oh, this is because the emperor is the emperor, or is this because the emperor is the king of all to my team.
44:34.214 --> 44:35.678
[CHRIS]: He is the most powerful.
44:36.239 --> 44:39.186
[CHRIS]: So it's just, it's why I like the character.
44:39.206 --> 44:40.710
[CHRIS]: But yeah, there you go.
44:40.910 --> 44:42.113
[CHRIS]: It was good postcards.
44:42.143 --> 44:42.644
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
44:42.985 --> 44:43.326
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
44:43.687 --> 44:44.949
[DEREK]: And the reveal of what he looks like.
44:44.969 --> 44:50.001
[DEREK]: And again, you're right, you know, through Ace, while we talk about the Vilchmites is just being powerful and strong.
44:50.021 --> 44:52.827
[DEREK]: A conquest is the strongest that we've seen so far.
44:53.308 --> 44:59.342
[DEREK]: We've seen General Krieg and he was terrifying because he was the one that was telling Mark when I come back here.
44:59.322 --> 45:23.187
[DEREK]: this planet better be under our control or else I'm destroying the entire planet so you were scared of General Krieg and again he's massively differential to to Thrag so so what Thrag gonna be like yeah again if he can control all of these people what he like when we get to him yeah and only time will tell so any other notes on your side Dirk
45:23.740 --> 45:24.321
[DEREK]: I think that's it.
45:24.681 --> 45:39.878
[DEREK]: For me, for the episode, really enjoyed this episode of this, you know, the flashback and hearing the story of Nolan and the story of the Viltramites and what happened to them was just epic in this episode of really, really enjoyed how it was delivered and then the search for the weapons was excellent.
45:40.179 --> 45:40.739
[DEREK]: Really, really good.
45:40.759 --> 45:45.225
[DEREK]: Again, the tooling up before the eventual battle that we'll see and it's not done yet.
45:45.245 --> 45:47.207
[DEREK]: I'm sure that's going to spread across the season.
45:47.287 --> 45:50.951
[DEREK]: So, not going to finish at all in one episode.
45:51.852 --> 45:53.494
[DEREK]: How about
45:53.626 --> 45:54.688
[CHRIS]: I just love it.
45:54.808 --> 45:59.435
[CHRIS]: Again, I'm so happy to be back in the universe, happy to be back in this animation style.
45:59.656 --> 46:14.059
[CHRIS]: As I said, from the gecko of season four, as the opening where you have this, I want this now going to be a iconic memorable moment of the, we're placing all the characters.
46:15.421 --> 46:19.347
[CHRIS]: On earth, to then see where all these characters are,
46:19.327 --> 46:23.873
[CHRIS]: in the universe, and in terms of our cosmic characters, our knowledge, and our island beings.
46:24.533 --> 46:26.235
[CHRIS]: I wasn't expecting that in an episode, too.
46:26.516 --> 46:30.380
[CHRIS]: I wasn't expecting that later on, much like we got on the previous seasons.
46:30.841 --> 46:47.241
[CHRIS]: So seeing them bring these two, bringing your cosmic and your earth-bound storylines so close together, really need to be to believe that we are going into the virtual
46:47.221 --> 46:51.234
[CHRIS]: the interweaving of the cosmic and earth and kind of seeing where it goes.
46:51.255 --> 46:54.987
[CHRIS]: So very happy with this across episode one and episode two.
46:55.287 --> 47:05.928
[DEREK]: It's also interesting to think of isn't it because a lot of shows finish with their fifth season, you know, we've got the boys coming out next month with its final season in season five, and in Vinceville season five confirmed for next year.
47:05.988 --> 47:09.895
[DEREK]: So potentially they are going to wrap it all up with a fifth season next year.
47:09.935 --> 47:10.957
[DEREK]: You know, we don't know.
47:11.499 --> 47:13.222
[DEREK]: It doesn't have to be confirmed for six season.
47:13.242 --> 47:17.430
[DEREK]: They may be able to tie the story up in a way with that.
47:17.410 --> 47:44.025
[CHRIS]: That season and I think we're somewhere around a few 60 of the comic books, which is about two third about sorry It's less than two thirds of the wrong and so there's quite a bit of story left to go isn't there so there is and I think if I'm Being honest, I think they'd be better to go six seasons on a movie right For any of our nerdy friends so they would enjoy that joke, but not actually do you think six seasons that you could do it in another
47:44.005 --> 48:07.331
[CHRIS]: 16 episodes if you know from it like two seasons of eight or two seasons of time Yeah, I think that would you could do it theoretically you would take out a large chunk of certain things right Because then it would you would put if they go to where I think they're going to go to again at the end of the season Then you have one more season and then you have the end of the game So think of you have a 50 war and then you have your end game.
48:07.531 --> 48:10.975
[CHRIS]: Yeah, and I mean not in part one part two versus a
48:10.955 --> 48:26.398
[CHRIS]: Actually, the probably off-saveter-right seasons of the show they could you could do that you could go for a while longer Especially now they picked up the universe again in Comple form as well because there's new stories coming out But anyway, but we'll be still coming at months the other one.
48:26.418 --> 48:32.507
[DEREK]: Yes, exactly, but I can't read that because I haven't read the color books up to this point So yeah, I'm better enough to burn out stars with that will be still
48:32.487 --> 48:33.448
[DEREK]: Great stuff.
48:33.909 --> 48:36.332
[DEREK]: Let's move on to some feedback from our wonderful fellow guardians.
48:36.412 --> 48:42.220
[DEREK]: One piece feedback that we missed from last episode came in from Dr. Bob, just after I'd finished editing the podcast.
48:42.240 --> 48:46.606
[DEREK]: Sorry Dr. Bob, but on episode one he said check-offs alien squids.
48:46.847 --> 48:48.148
[DEREK]: Grumpy teen superhero.
48:48.269 --> 49:01.667
[DEREK]: Mr. Mr. Dino changeling echo warriors from the dawn of time I'm asked the heart of darkness feast your eyes on episode one the subtle cliffhanger of will pole guesses pancakes will be the thread Looking for as I work my way through this series
49:01.647 --> 49:08.593
[DEREK]: I am certain that Paul will get his pancakes, whether he has to wait until he moves in with Debbie or not, we don't know.
49:09.514 --> 49:10.094
[DEREK]: He doesn't see it.
49:10.335 --> 49:11.456
[DEREK]: He doesn't see it.
49:11.516 --> 49:12.316
[CHRIS]: He doesn't see it.
49:12.336 --> 49:13.437
[CHRIS]: He doesn't see it.
49:13.457 --> 49:14.598
[CHRIS]: He doesn't see it.
49:15.039 --> 49:15.579
[DEREK]: He doesn't see it.
49:15.639 --> 49:18.722
[DEREK]: Yeah, I don't know whether he wants to sit down with the kids for breakfast though.
49:19.563 --> 49:22.265
[DEREK]: I think he wants his pancakes from Debbie and Debbie alone, maybe.
49:23.466 --> 49:26.489
[CHRIS]: That's a, that's a, that's a, that's a euphemism.
49:26.549 --> 49:27.830
[DEREK]: It's not a euphemism, Chris.
49:27.910 --> 49:31.553
[CHRIS]: Not everything that's a euphemism with me.
49:31.533 --> 49:34.420
[CHRIS]: Thank you so much Dr. Bob.
49:34.440 --> 49:35.523
[DEREK]: Absolutely, thanks Dr. Bob.
49:35.884 --> 49:38.952
[CHRIS]: Yes, so let's move on to some feedback about Episode 2.
49:39.253 --> 49:43.724
[CHRIS]: First up, we have an email from the one and only coffee and vodka.
49:43.744 --> 49:48.276
[CHRIS]: With this is a greetings fellow, paternity challenge to fenders.
49:48.577 --> 49:54.668
[CHRIS]: It must have physically hurt them to put such a straightforward episode, but I was glad to see it.
49:55.149 --> 50:06.028
[CHRIS]: The Nolan Allen team will continue to entertain, but the star of this will have to be Captain Pic- I mean, Captain Ocarman and the crew of the USS Venture.
50:06.008 --> 50:22.111
[CHRIS]: The room assignment guy goes, priceless beyond this, the near genocide of the ultramight, and Alan's common to bet them doubling down rather than learning from the event struck a somber chord, and nice to see conquest again, long may he plough.
50:23.052 --> 50:35.610
[CHRIS]: A nice tight team build the episode onto the next one, once again, five unfounded thrupples, narcissistic, national slogans,
50:35.590 --> 50:36.773
[CHRIS]: Thanks coffee and vodka.
50:37.674 --> 50:39.498
[CHRIS]: You're really true.
50:39.759 --> 50:55.793
[CHRIS]: It's one thing I didn't call it and it does stand out is that comment from Alan about oh no no no the full semester doubling down on their craziness they like they didn't take the scourge virus and newsings.
50:55.773 --> 51:01.421
[CHRIS]: like 99.9% of the population of all of Ultramites.
51:02.883 --> 51:24.936
[CHRIS]: So it's an interesting, and it's said again with us what I wasn't, you don't expect from Seth Rogan unless you probably watching say now the studio or any of those where he has a bit more of a adult theme beyond just smoking weed.
51:24.916 --> 51:35.710
[DEREK]: Exodus, although the last two episodes of the studio are all about taking mushrooms, so yeah, that hasn't been too far away from that It's a different joke that's exactly exactly great stuff.
51:35.730 --> 51:47.224
[DEREK]: Thanks coffee vodka And we also have some feedback in from Richard Blaise who says another great episode Loving the Nolan backstory when the young Nolan showed up I was like, why did the design work and characters become a bit generic, hasn't I?
51:47.545 --> 51:50.248
[DEREK]: But make sense he looked like Mark when he was younger
51:50.228 --> 51:53.091
[DEREK]: becoming an adult seems way too brutal for my liking.
51:53.231 --> 51:59.016
[DEREK]: Though kids killing kids also makes China childhood, a mind-films, no one in Alan are a great double act.
51:59.136 --> 52:02.319
[DEREK]: I could happily watch a series of just these two going round the universe.
52:03.660 --> 52:04.301
[DEREK]: Thanks Richard.
52:04.902 --> 52:05.662
[DEREK]: Yeah, they really are.
52:05.682 --> 52:06.984
[DEREK]: I love seeing the two of them together.
52:07.024 --> 52:13.369
[DEREK]: They get really good fun, although you'd never get any sleep well, Alan and Silly are together.
52:13.409 --> 52:19.375
[DEREK]: And I guess if Nolan's mission was to bang his way round the
52:21.869 --> 52:28.540
[CHRIS]: So there's only so many headboards that they can keep within the venture.
52:28.981 --> 52:30.203
[CHRIS]: I'm a certain point.
52:30.583 --> 52:36.733
[DEREK]: Yeah, I'd also assume that Nolan wants his quarters as far away from Alan as possible for the rest of the duration.
52:37.154 --> 52:38.376
[CHRIS]: The rest of the other side of the ship.
52:38.356 --> 52:40.259
[DEREK]: Absolutely, absolutely.
52:40.599 --> 52:42.382
[DEREK]: Thanks so much for all your feedback.
52:42.402 --> 52:57.384
[DEREK]: You can keep sending it into us email us to feedbackatvpodcastindustry.com or pop on over to the Facebook group, Facebook.com, slash group, slash TV podcast industries, or pop on over to our Discord at the details in the show notes right here, join us on TV podcast industries over there.

[DEREK]: Lots of good chats going on about all the shows that we're covering over there.
53:01.778 --> 53:26.352
[CHRIS]: Yes, and if you like what you hear and you like what you've heard, why not support us over on Patreon by heading to patreon.com slash team podcast industry and supporting us for a monthly amount or if you want to do well enough donation head on over to buy me a coffee dot com slash TVPI where you can pay for Derek to have a coffee as he edits into the wee hours of the morning and got a book.
53:26.332 --> 53:27.073
[CHRIS]: No worries.
53:27.353 --> 53:44.779
[DEREK]: I'm not right to serve you on one of the podcast streams and share the podcast because sharing the podcast is what Derek it is sharing the love Chris always is always is And I will be going into the wee hours of the morning over the next couple of weeks reason why is because we got loads and loads coming up
53:44.759 --> 53:46.562
[DEREK]: got the rest of the Vincillable Season 4.
53:46.622 --> 53:50.507
[DEREK]: Dare to have a born again season 2 is coming out just next week.
53:50.527 --> 54:00.602
[DEREK]: The first two episodes of that are dropping next Wednesday as we record this episode and as I mentioned earlier on the final season of the Bowies Season 5 is coming out in April.
54:01.683 --> 54:02.344
[DEREK]: Just so much stuff.
54:02.665 --> 54:04.648
[DEREK]: So much stuff that we can't waste for.
54:04.688 --> 54:04.748
[DEREK]: No.
54:05.189 --> 54:09.315
[DEREK]: So excited for just wish it was spread out a little bit further across the year.
54:10.116 --> 54:11.037
[DEREK]: Because
54:11.017 --> 54:34.493
[DEREK]: With that, we also have Maul Shadowlord, the latest animated series from Star Wars, which we are really excited to see, but I just don't see how we're going to be able to fit in podcasting about that show with everything else that's going on because no Chris, you're going to be joining us forward and visible on the boys and I think given the timing of everything being released and then you're going to be able to get onto a debt of a born again with us for the episodes, right?
54:34.574 --> 54:36.657
[CHRIS]: I think I'll be able to pop in the odd one.
54:36.777 --> 54:40.443
[CHRIS]: I think that's the way where we're going to have to try and jump around.
54:40.743 --> 54:43.347
[CHRIS]: Because mall shot of Lord looks amazing.
54:43.607 --> 54:45.490
[CHRIS]: It's a clone wars for adults.
54:45.510 --> 54:47.994
[CHRIS]: Looks proper adult adults.
54:48.355 --> 54:52.120
[DEREK]: Well, it's the same team that brought us bad bachelor's recovery every single episode of as well.
54:52.200 --> 54:54.984
[DEREK]: So really excited to catch that show.
54:55.004 --> 54:59.651
[DEREK]: But yeah, don't think we're going to be able to get too hard casting about it.
54:59.772 --> 55:00.733
[DEREK]: We're spreading thin.
55:00.713 --> 55:12.038
[CHRIS]: Exactly, and look who knows, we will be able to give some thoughts and if we ever have a down month, if we ever have a down month, who knows, we can go back and do a retrospective look.
55:12.058 --> 55:12.840
[DEREK]: Yeah, I feel like we will.
55:12.900 --> 55:15.786
[DEREK]: I feel like we're going to run out of stuff other than movies.
55:15.766 --> 55:17.468
[DEREK]: at some time during the summer.
55:17.909 --> 55:24.377
[DEREK]: Yes, but it doesn't feel like the old days in the field like you know it gets to September and this 25 new shows all come together the same week.
55:25.378 --> 55:30.684
[DEREK]: The way you used to be back in the old days when we just did one podcast for one show Chris and then we podcast all of them.
55:31.085 --> 55:40.356
[CHRIS]: I know you remember when it was just a careful and then it was a new cage and then it was our in-face in Jessica Jones and then when oh my god they're going to bring us the defenders.
55:40.336 --> 55:41.257
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
55:42.259 --> 55:45.123
[DEREK]: We were also podcasting Gotham at that time, but I guess you're point.
55:45.343 --> 55:46.064
[DEREK]: Yes, exactly.
55:46.084 --> 55:47.106
[DEREK]: It's only two shows in a year.
55:48.027 --> 56:07.896
[CHRIS]: But now we have many and because we have many I'm gonna say goodbye I'd say thank you for joining us because we will be back with invincible season four episode three I gotta get some air this week so fellow listeners that is a goodbye from me absolutely thanks so much
56:08.180 --> 56:12.251
[CHRIS]: Yes, so keep watching, keep listening, and keep being invincible.
