In this weeks episode we return to the Tableau to the Table and everything in between…and what a horror Tableau it is as Frederick Chilton becomes the latest and most lip-less victim of the Red Dragon! We discuss the amazing performance of Raul Esparza as he captures the terror of Dr Frederick Chilton, his abuse and torture at the hands of Francis Dolarhyde and the quiet hatred he feels towards his betrayer – Will Graham – as the FBI plan to ensnare the Tooth Fairy goes horribly, horribly wrong. We’re glad to see Hannibal feast on something better than hospital food as we bask in Hannibal’s enjoyment of Frederick’s top lip (or was it his bottom lip?) along with Chilton’s nightmare predicament. We agree with Bedilia as she asserts to Will that if “You play, you pay”. Indeed, Will appears to be playing and he is becoming quite the dubious soul as we talk about the holy Hannibal trinity of Hannibal (the dragon), Jack (God) and Will (the lamb of God)…don’t forget the wrath of the lamb!! Hannibal Season 3 Episode 12 And The Number Of The Beast Is 666 – Synopsis
Following the attempted murder of Will Graham’s family and with the Red Dragon still at large Graham (Hugh Dancy), Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas), and Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) devise a plan to capture Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage). To these ends the FBI enlists the help of Dr. Fredrick Chilton (Raúl Esparza) and Freddie Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) in the hope of drawing the Tooth Fairy into an ambush through demeaning insults published in Tattle Crime. However, Will’s increasingly disjointed empathy for the Red Dragon impacts his psyche and he identifies Chilton as the pet – the first victim to be taken by Dolarhyde in his previous murders. However, the FBI plan fails, as Dolarhyde becomes aware of the ambush, kidnapping Chilton who is taunted, mocked and abused in to terror by the Great Red Dragon. Glued to a wheelchair, Chilton scrambles to save his own life groveling to Dolarhyde he states that he will refute the published lies in the Crime Tattle; but Dolarhyde has his own form of justice as he bites and tears Chilton’s lips from his face and sets him alight in a reflection of Lounds own staged death. As Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) receives an unexpected edible gift in the post – tasty – Dolarhyde is driven to reveal himself to another!!
