Welcome back Fannibals! The Fine Young Hannibals, John and Irene, are back as we discuss the fourth part of the Red Dragon story arc in Hannibal Season 3 Episode 11 And The Beast From The Sea. In this weeks episode we take a different approach to our podcast as we look at our top five nibbles and have ourselves a buffet-style look at everything from episode 11. We discuss everything from the introduction (or return) of the iconic hockey mask worn by Hannibal, the apparent pleasure of Dr Alanna Bloom as she revokes all privileges from a very naughty Hannibal (including his loo) and we are saddened by the break up of Dolarhyde and McClane…although it’s probably for the best! We chat about Jack Crawford’s true colours and whether he is a “Fisher of Men”? We are terrified, feared-up and tense for Molly and Walter as we see the Tooth Fairy attack the very heart and soul of the series Will’s home and family unit, as Molly and Walter are placed in serious peril. Also in a nod to the Tableau we give an honourable shout out to the poor road kill man shot by Dolarhyde…who was he, was he simply popping out for milk and will he be missed? Finally, all the inter-relationships are explored between the Hannibal holy trinity of Dolarhyde, Hannibal and Will Graham as these progress in startling directions in this episode. Hannibal Season 3 Episode 11 And The Beast From The Sea – Synopsis
With the events at the museum still fresh in the minds of Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and the FBI and a full moon approaching the time for the Red Dragon to strike again is rapidly approaching but they lack a solid lead on the Tooth Fairy. However, little does Will Graham know that Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage), following his hallucinations and telephone exchanges with Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen), has resolved to go after Graham’s own family – Molly (Nina Arianda) and Walter (Gabriel Browning Rodriguez) – to spare Reba McClane (Rutina Wesley) and appease the Red Dragon’s thrist for transformation and death. Molly is hospitalised with a gun shot wound as she and Walter narrowly escape Dolarhyde wrath. Meanwhile, Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and the FBI learn that Hannibal has been in contact with the Tooth Fairy killer under the guise of receiving calls from his lawyer – all cell privileges are revoked by Alanna Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) but she offers Hannibal a chance for redemption, which whilst tempting he doesn’t take. As things seemingly close in around Dolarhyde he terminates his relationship with McClane insisting that he is afraid he will hurt her. An angry and enraged Will Graham is also afraid that he will hurt someone; as following a conversation with Molly after her surgery, he Graham goes to Lecter, stating that he has had it with him and all these “crazy sons of bitches”. Lecter calmly stares at him and asks Graham whether he also craves change like him and his “brother” the red dragon.
