Episode Synopsis:
To send a message to Mayor Wilson Fisk, Matt Murdock suits up as Daredevil and boards a ship on its way to the Red Hook Port. He discovers it is transporting military grade weapons to the free port. When the Captain discovers Daredevil aboard the ship he sinks the vessel.
Back in Josie’s Bar, Matt reunites with Karen to attempt to amplify the nefarious dealings of Mayor Fisk. But before they can carry through with their plan, Fisk’s team have pinned it as a terrorist attack orchestrated by the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.
Meanwhile psychologist Heather Glenn, interviews Jack Duquanes about his possible double life as the vigilante Swordsman. Her discussion provides good detail about Duquanes but not the key evidence DA Hockburg is looking for so with a little prodding Heather changes his answers to serve him up on a platter.
Concerned about the excessive powers Fisk is employing, the attorney general calls for oversight but, following a call from Contessa Allegra DeFontaine after a request from the mysterious Mr. Charles, the Attorney General offers his full support to Mayor Fisk.
Karen continues to investigate Fisk’s nefarious goings-on and has recently teamed up with BB Urich. She shares advice from her former mentor Ben Urich to try to keep his niece alive while she’s in the vipers den.
As their investigation gets closer to locating the missing crew from the ship, it draws the attention of the brutal Anti-Vigilante Task Force who confront Matt’s investigator Cherry at his home. Daredevil is overwhelmed by the violent task force members as he gets distracted by Cherry’s stress induced heart problems. But, after the team learn his true identity they are executed by an unlikely ally. Benjamin Poindexter hits the Bullseye delivering a message to Matt Murdock. ‘You're Welcome’.

08:10 --> 08:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Here we are at the beginning of the episode at the beginning of the season.
08:13 --> 08:21 [SPEAKER_01]: But a couple of months I think since the end of season one, Matt is suiting up in a black Daredevil.
08:22 --> 08:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Very cool.
08:22 --> 08:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I love that it looks like it's been spray painted on because you can see a little bit of the red underneath of his old suit.
08:28 --> 08:32 [SPEAKER_01]: And we have the Daredevil simple appearing on his chest now as well.
08:32 --> 08:36 [SPEAKER_02]: It's the double day or interlocking days, I should say.
08:36 --> 08:37 [SPEAKER_01]: No, actually.
08:37 --> 08:40 [SPEAKER_01]: We did see the interview with them where, um, where, uh,
08:41 --> 08:48 [SPEAKER_01]: Charlie Cox was saying that he calls them as double D's, but people don't like that so into locking D's as the kind of programming for them.
08:48 --> 08:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but really good to see him in this eight-foot, it makes a lot of sense because he's kind of going a bit like Batman from Batman 89, I thought, so you know, going in and out of the containers on this transport ship.
08:59 --> 09:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I think this must be on the Hudson River, but he's taking out all of the criminals that are on board and it feels really like that Batman moment in Tim Burton's Batman.
09:09 --> 09:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's very cool and I do like the fact that, you know, increasingly that the stressed captain and his first mate is the the different security cameras or kind of going dead on them and as the the stream is cost yeah and the wires I guess it's just ripped off the size of the ship, but um,
09:31 --> 09:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, where he's investigating really what is essentially arriving into Wilson Fisk's freeport and finds it, it's all filled with armaments, guns, missiles, who name it, I do like the touch that he
09:51 --> 10:05 [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, he hears that the captain and the first mate effectively are about to blow up the ship, which they've been told to do if it's ever boarded.
10:05 --> 10:35 [SPEAKER_02]: He just got a good thing here where he takes the watch of one of the downed guards and puts it into one of the containers on the ship so that he can, because you see him sort of tracking and clicking in, there's some really good, a great use of camera, perspective where it's like zooming in
10:35 --> 10:52 [SPEAKER_02]: the blurring of the background and then it's only moves into a letterbox look and it's really cool use of the camera to give a sense of derdevil senses exactly yeah which I really really enjoy and I've always enjoyed that about derdevil
10:52 --> 10:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think they can do some really nice stuff with the camera work.
10:56 --> 11:02 [SPEAKER_01]: I love when they use it and they certainly use it a bit in a port again, season 1, so cool to see them using it again.
11:02 --> 11:05 [SPEAKER_01]: The season and again, this is how you know it's Benson and more head on here.
11:05 --> 11:16 [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to use that as the visual style of Daredevil's abilities as well, so he does have superhuman abilities, so it's great to have them visualized on screen that way.
11:16 --> 11:20 [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's interesting, it's not that this is military grade weaponry that's being brought into the freeport.
11:21 --> 11:32 [SPEAKER_01]: We know from season one that the reason why Fisk has this Porsche in Red Hook available is because it stands outside of the law, so he's going to be using that to trade.
11:32 --> 11:44 [SPEAKER_01]: different items back and forth and it seems like this time it's one of the first times that the investigations that Matt and Karen have been carrying out have led them to a real discovery of something that's arriving in Red Hope that shouldn't be there at all.
11:44 --> 11:48 [SPEAKER_01]: Military grade weapons going in and we hear later on.
11:48 --> 11:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Matt asked the question, who is the destination for these weapons?
11:52 --> 12:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Who is it that is that is going to be armed up with these weapons that are coming into and to New York and coming into the city through Red Hook.
12:00 --> 12:02 [SPEAKER_01]: So that may be something we'll hear a bit in the future.
12:02 --> 12:05 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like I really enjoyed as well.
12:05 --> 12:09 [SPEAKER_02]: So once the ship is sunk, you do have this kind of
12:10 --> 12:18 [SPEAKER_02]: combination of fist-looking to spin this disaster for him on the vigilante's and specifically on Daredevil.
12:21 --> 12:28 [SPEAKER_02]: As he tells his task force leader, you know, to intensify the hunt for both Daredevil and Karen Pay.
12:28 --> 12:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
12:28 --> 12:35 [SPEAKER_02]: You know, as well as finding the captain and the first mate of the ship, which is kind of interesting.
12:35 --> 12:39 [SPEAKER_02]: I guess it's more to tie up loose ends because
12:39 --> 12:44 [SPEAKER_02]: they both say that the captain says that there were told to do this.
12:44 --> 12:52 [SPEAKER_02]: It's not like he's not after them because they've blown off his ship and now he's going to deal with this mess and clean it up.
12:52 --> 12:56 [SPEAKER_02]: It's probably just to deal with loose ends, but initially I thought that was a little
12:56 --> 13:15 [SPEAKER_02]: strange, it felt like it was a bit contradictory, but I like the fact that, you know, Fisk is here looking to try and take control of this disaster effect before him, whereas you have dirt-evil back at their hideout with Karen there.
13:15 --> 13:37 [SPEAKER_02]: where they were looking to try and maintain the pressure from the sinking to show both the city, but also the state capital and Albany who basically is, as he's identified, you know, that they're using the free port to effectively smuggle armaments and ordinance into the U.S.
13:37 --> 13:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
13:38 --> 13:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure if you show criminality of a serving lead politician that the whole city and the whole country will turn on them and take them down, right?
13:47 --> 13:48 [SPEAKER_01]: You at home.
13:48 --> 13:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
13:50 --> 13:51 [SPEAKER_02]: exactly.
13:51 --> 14:08 [SPEAKER_02]: So I like that too and and in a sense here what happens at least initially is you see Fisk sort of getting a jump start on spinning the disaster against Daredevil and vigilantes to sort of maintain that narrative.
14:09 --> 14:15 [SPEAKER_02]: You have a bit of it coming in through the BB report where
14:14 --> 14:19 [SPEAKER_02]: clear up that mess, this is the ship's the in the middle of the harbour.
14:20 --> 14:28 [SPEAKER_02]: And you have, you know, the effectively blaming the vigilante's for this big ship in the middle of the harbour.
14:28 --> 14:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I really like where you see Fist talking to his assistant mayor, Daniel, where he's just says those words out loud and then Daniel takes the cue.
14:36 --> 14:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I sure I can run with this.
14:39 --> 14:44 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm find a way to get this out to the public and then it's translated
14:44 --> 14:49 [SPEAKER_01]: as everybody's happy in the city, if it wasn't for these down vigilantes, they're mere physical to save us from it, you know?
14:50 --> 15:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I kind of love how they're using the BB report again already this season as this shiny happy place where Wilson Fisk gets his message to the world.
15:01 --> 15:03 [SPEAKER_01]: as if everything's going to go and find.
15:03 --> 15:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I read the newspapers, but don't believe them.
15:05 --> 15:07 [SPEAKER_01]: You can see for yourself how amazing the city is.

15:09 --> 15:17 [SPEAKER_01]: So a great use of this and a great way to start off the episode with this message from Daredevil to Fisk.

15:30 --> 15:41 [SPEAKER_02]: I think first off on this Karen centric point, we should say that after he sinks the ship, back at Josie's bar in their hideaway,

15:47 --> 15:50 [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, hmm, well, they've moved along and they're relationship.
15:50 --> 15:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, they have moved along and I was, you know, I was kind of like thinking, I guess.
15:57 --> 16:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Matt Murdoch Daredevil just had to release all the energy after that high stakes, high action investigations are on the ship.
16:06 --> 16:20 [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I think it's kind of interesting to see that they've become more than just friends and work colleagues and professionals that, you know, they have made up a lot in their relationship.
16:20 --> 16:25 [SPEAKER_02]: And now, you know, they have feelings for Warner Nelson.
16:25 --> 16:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but there's always been a will they won't they were Karen and Martin, a lot of it had to do with with the daredevil side of Murdoch, and the pain that he was going through and him pushing everybody away, and now the two of them have been working together really closely since Mayor Fist took over.
16:43 --> 16:45 [SPEAKER_01]: So, I guess the relationship has kicked up an
16:45 --> 16:46 [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
16:47 --> 16:54 [SPEAKER_01]: But I do like, you know, the kind of hand-off between the two of them, you know, Matt needs someone to do the investigation side of things to help him age.
16:55 --> 16:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Karen's going to take that up.

41:30 --> 41:41 [SPEAKER_02]: And as they arrest him, also the owner of the Greek restaurant where he's trying to hide out and get safe passage back to Greece.

41:43 --> 41:51 [SPEAKER_02]: She is also struck by Powell, the head of the task force, who is just a nasty piece of work.

42:16 --> 42:31 [SPEAKER_01]: the assistant to the mayor's office and uh, Powell as the leader of the task force, you know, that the most important for people that Wilson Fisk has in his office, the people that he trusts and the people that he has carry out all of his nasty deeds in the city effectively.
42:31 --> 42:39 [SPEAKER_01]: So uh, so Powell is right up there with those other characters, you know, so he's not he's no longer coming in to meet Fisk separately.

43:31 --> 43:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Daredevil starts to hear Cherry's heart racing Like he recalls with Nelson And the heartbeat With Foggy Nelson Yeah, so this is really good because On the one hand Daredevil is trying to protect I think it's actually cherry
