The Boys then contact the Legend to learn Bombsight's whereabouts. He directs them to Golden Geisha, Bombsight's former lover, and they use her as bait with Sage's assistance.
When Bombsight arrives to save her, he is ambushed by Soldier Boy. After an intense brawl, Bombsight gives Soldier Boy the V1 in exchange for the latter depriving him of his powers and immortality. [DEREK]: We are back with the sixth episode of the final season of The Boys, Though the Heavens Fall.
00:08.921 --> 00:09.922
[HOMELANDER]: You're not scared of me.
00:11.924 --> 00:13.045
[THE LEGEND]: No, I'm not scared of you.
00:13.726 --> 00:16.189
[THE LEGEND]: I feel for you, kid.
00:17.390 --> 00:17.710
[THE LEGEND]: I do.
00:20.033 --> 00:24.037
[THE LEGEND]: I mean, you're an fn whack job, but you know, that's talent.
00:24.618 --> 00:28.182
[THE LEGEND]: So, no surprise there.
00:32.600 --> 00:36.552
[THE LEGEND]: So, there you go, do what you got to do.
01:02.384 --> 01:09.493
[DEREK]: Welcome back fellow boys and girls, two TV podcast industries were back talking about the boys season five episode six, though the heavens fall.
01:09.574 --> 01:10.715
[DEREK]: I am one of your host, Derek.
01:11.396 --> 01:13.078
[JOHN]: Hello there fellow boys and girls.
01:13.379 --> 01:15.021
[JOHN]: I am your other host, John.
01:15.722 --> 01:22.431
[JOHN]: Still with a little bit of a deep voice and after losing my voice the last week.
01:22.511 --> 01:25.114
[JOHN]: Still on the mend, but getting better.
01:25.295 --> 01:25.675
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
01:25.655 --> 01:39.115
[DEREK]: couldn't come aboard for the finale of Daredevil season two, unfortunately, which was a real chain because a great ending to that to the excellent Daredevil born again, but at least you're able to get back on here for the boys.
01:40.257 --> 01:40.677
[JOHN]: Exactly.
01:40.697 --> 01:47.207
[JOHN]: And this hopefully my new improved deeper voice will be
01:48.301 --> 01:49.663
[JOHN]: Okay, on everyone's ears.
01:49.683 --> 01:52.147
[JOHN]: I just hope you're a little longer dulce, it's more base.
01:52.267 --> 01:54.511
[DEREK]: I just hope it holds out for the full episode.
01:54.531 --> 01:55.793
[DEREK]: Well, that's what I'm asking.
01:55.813 --> 02:04.127
[DEREK]: And, you know, both of us are massive collectors of nerdy stuff, John, but I know we've never really taken part in the Popcorn Booker's Trends.
02:04.608 --> 02:11.018
[DEREK]: This episode has the worst-looking Popcorn Book, the thing I've ever seen at the Deep's Popcorn Book.
02:11.065 --> 02:28.686
[JOHN]: Well, I definitely, certainly the one that's most open to abuse, I would say, and if the June popcorn bookies could be a quases, the flesh liked, then I'm sure the deep
02:28.666 --> 02:52.480
[JOHN]: with his mouth wide open could be deep should we say yeah yeah so but I loved that reference yeah absolutely loved it I mean it's so good I mean I know it's not referencing the June book it it is but there is a war the Wolverine one from deadpool and Wolverine was also
02:52.460 --> 02:57.847
[DEREK]: the same swipe at the that the Dune popcorn book is put at the D1 here.
02:58.648 --> 03:03.795
[DEREK]: I think it's on sale for like $36 with a regular popcorn.
03:06.258 --> 03:14.249
[DEREK]: I love that I love that they even have firecracker doing the version of Nicole Kidman doing the at the intro to the voice at cinemas as well.
03:14.449 --> 03:16.392
[DEREK]: Yes, a nice little touch there as well.
03:16.372 --> 03:34.743
[DEREK]: But we will get into our full details about this episode as we go through the 6th episode of the boys season 5 If you haven't subscribed to the podcast, we'd love you to pop on over to TV podcast industry.com Subscribe over there to our main feed for the podcast This is almost the end of the boys on TV podcast industries.
03:34.783 --> 03:37.047
[DEREK]: So the feed will be drying up for a little while
03:37.027 --> 03:41.193
[DEREK]: For the boys, but there is loads more stuff that we're covering on TV podcast industry.
03:41.213 --> 03:43.055
[DEREK]: So we'd love to stay with for all that stuff.
03:43.436 --> 04:01.701
[DEREK]: You can also send us in your feedback to feedback at TV podcastindustries.com or pop on our Twitter or Facebook group at facebook.com-groups.tv podcast industries or go over to discord the details of which are in the show notes for this episode and you can join us there for all of your feedback for any of the episodes that we're covering.
04:01.681 --> 04:02.802
[JOHN]: Yes, absolutely.
04:02.963 --> 04:10.513
[JOHN]: And a quick reminder that we will be continuing the pub quiz with question six from season five.
04:10.993 --> 04:13.316
[JOHN]: So we'll get to that later in the episodes.
04:13.356 --> 04:23.209
[JOHN]: Remember just together of all the answers together all eight of them and send them in two feedback at TV podcast industries.com.
04:23.330 --> 04:30.439
[JOHN]: Once we have given you the last question and you'll be in with a chance of getting your hands on some of the boys.
04:30.419 --> 04:31.121
[JOHN]: Goodies.
04:31.281 --> 04:31.763
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
04:31.803 --> 04:38.060
[DEREK]: If we could let us know where you are in the world as well, that helps us choose the goodies in advance I've said in the mail as well.
04:38.080 --> 04:39.324
[DEREK]: So that would be great.
04:39.825 --> 04:42.132
[DEREK]: That's it for the intro stuff done.
04:42.152 --> 04:45.441
[DEREK]: Yes Derek who gave us what we're went and how well the
04:45.421 --> 05:01.827
[DEREK]: show it for the show of course is our creepy space to the comic series from Garth Anderson Derek Robertson and the executive producer to the show our Seth Rogan Evan Goldberg this episode was written by David Reed this is his fifth episode of six and he's also co-writer on the finale as well so at looking forward to seeing what he's doing here.
05:01.807 --> 05:06.475
[DEREK]: And the episode is directed by Katrina McKenzie and Indigenous Australian director for over 20 years.
05:06.535 --> 05:07.958
[DEREK]: This is her second episode of the boys.
05:08.238 --> 05:14.889
[DEREK]: She also directed an episode in the final season of Supernatural and it did Gen V season two episode six and episode three of Marvel's Echo as well.
05:14.970 --> 05:19.377
[DEREK]: So lots of stuff that we've covered here on our little podcast and TV podcast industry.
05:19.357 --> 05:20.818
[JOHN]: Yeah, excellent stuff.
05:20.838 --> 05:22.720
[JOHN]: Good to have Captain and McKenzie on board.
05:22.740 --> 05:25.403
[JOHN]: Yeah, certainly after Marvel's Echo.
05:25.423 --> 05:26.364
[JOHN]: Absolutely, not playing.
05:26.744 --> 05:31.970
[DEREK]: John, do you want to tell us what they gave us with your synopsis for the Boy Season 5 episode 6?
05:32.390 --> 05:32.690
[JOHN]: Sure.
05:33.491 --> 05:47.625
[JOHN]: The Deep Records, a promotional video for Vault's Controversial New Oil Pipeline, Black Noir 2, resentful over Deep's murder of Asmborg, sabotages the pipeline causing a massive oil spill that devastates the surrounding sea life.
05:47.605 --> 05:52.293
[JOHN]: As soon as he learns of his betrayal, the deep retaliates by killing Black Nuar.
05:52.994 --> 06:01.569
[JOHN]: Meanwhile, when Ashley expresses her reservations for Sister Sage's plan, Sister Sage incapacitates Ashley and has vastly re-soldier boys mind.
06:02.110 --> 06:06.317
[JOHN]: Upon being told, by Bashley, he has a lead on the V1.
06:06.777 --> 06:10.103
[JOHN]: Sister Sage leaves what tower to join the boys.
06:10.083 --> 06:17.612
[JOHN]: Once the boys produce more of the virus, Huey and Annie attempt to plant it at one of homelanders' churches, but are thwarted by O' Father.
06:17.933 --> 06:21.918
[JOHN]: The boys then contact the legend to learn bomb sites whereabouts.
06:22.258 --> 06:29.948
[JOHN]: He directs them to the Golden Gatia, bomb sites form a lover, and the user as bait with Sage's Assistance.
06:29.928 --> 06:33.832
[JOHN]: When bombsite arrives to save her, is ambushed by Soldier Boy.
06:34.312 --> 06:42.559
[JOHN]: After an intense brawl, bombsite gives Soldier Boy the V1 in exchange for the latter depriving him of his powers and immortality.
06:43.200 --> 06:59.935
[JOHN]: Despite Sage's predictions, Soldier Boy hands over the V1 to homelander, who injects himself with it as the boys look on helplessly with Billy Butcher shouting, Ron.
06:59.915 --> 07:02.161
[DEREK]: Oh, how did it happen, how did it happen?
07:02.823 --> 07:13.091
[DEREK]: We will get into our major moments from the episode break him out into our boys or pro tag at this moment, the seven or am tag at this moment, or at either at standing a moment from the episode.
07:13.452 --> 07:16.219
[DEREK]: Let's kick off with our boys moment.
07:16.199 --> 07:18.162
[DEREK]: Well, we all eat John.
07:18.683 --> 07:22.009
[DEREK]: Where do you want to start with our boys moment from the episode?
07:22.189 --> 07:25.775
[JOHN]: Um, I guess it's the old folks home, all of all villages.
07:26.276 --> 07:30.303
[JOHN]: Um, what incontinence pads come become super power.
07:31.325 --> 07:31.946
[JOHN]: Um, I guess.
07:31.966 --> 07:32.667
[JOHN]: I guess.
07:32.687 --> 07:40.300
[JOHN]: And, uh, I mean, I just think this is really interesting having vault villages in this episode.
07:40.280 --> 07:55.639
[JOHN]: It's kind of the center for trying to coax bomb sites out of hiding as this is where you have golden gaysia and this is where the legend brings
07:56.986 --> 08:17.998
[JOHN]: Billy Bookcher as well as Kimico and others milk to try and persuade Golden Gayshire to contact bomb sites in order to bring him and then eventually have to go back in the dead of night to actually
08:17.978 --> 08:23.226
[JOHN]: She has 28 numbers, all of which no longer work, which I couldn't even quite like.
08:23.607 --> 08:24.348
[JOHN]: I love the life of you.
08:24.368 --> 08:25.690
[DEREK]: That sounds like an old person.
08:25.710 --> 08:30.217
[DEREK]: It does, but did you hear the background when they say you had 28 numbers, and she goes, you know, we had to delete it?
08:30.237 --> 08:31.118
[DEREK]: Yeah, exactly.
08:31.138 --> 08:33.582
[JOHN]: I think that made it more realistic.
08:33.602 --> 08:34.223
[JOHN]: It did.
08:34.543 --> 08:37.047
[JOHN]: I think that was just so funny.
08:37.067 --> 08:40.172
[JOHN]: I love the fact that we did get a...
08:40.152 --> 08:44.917
[JOHN]: geriatric face off and a one with the old saggy balls.
08:45.177 --> 08:45.517
[JOHN]: I don't know.
08:45.838 --> 08:46.939
[JOHN]: I mean, this was the thing.
08:46.959 --> 08:53.004
[JOHN]: I presumed it was the the soup super power is his.
08:53.024 --> 08:53.305
[JOHN]: Yeah.
08:53.325 --> 08:54.766
[JOHN]: I mean, I witnessed.
08:54.926 --> 08:56.027
[JOHN]: I don't know what he's called.
08:56.047 --> 08:56.928
[DEREK]: His name is not sack.
08:56.968 --> 08:57.809
[JOHN]: Not sack.
08:57.829 --> 08:58.710
[DEREK]: Okay.
08:58.730 --> 08:59.371
[DEREK]: And I don't know.
08:59.711 --> 09:02.994
[DEREK]: Oh, I was just what I do love that the minute that Billy Boucher season.
09:03.314 --> 09:05.216
[DEREK]: He goes MM this once for you.
09:05.537 --> 09:06.157
[JOHN]: Exactly.
09:06.618 --> 09:10.041
[JOHN]: But I didn't
09:10.021 --> 09:15.769
[JOHN]: the outward expression of old age, or it was his actual superpower.
09:16.130 --> 09:24.501
[JOHN]: But I guess even the fact that he did utilise them like kind of nunchucks and so on, nunchucks make me excited actually.
09:24.922 --> 09:32.333
[JOHN]: The use of them is nunchucks, I think we'll have to say, yeah, is definitely he must have had to deal with that.
09:32.553 --> 09:32.653
[JOHN]: Yeah.
09:32.633 --> 09:45.293
[JOHN]: And I guess that meant that all was the power of surprise was his primary super power because everyone would just go what the hell And then you know immediately Not out but possibly
09:47.129 --> 09:58.705
[JOHN]: the nutsack's not only were they sort of able to be swung around and using the weapon, but possibly were made of something like leds, it's always like a caution, a caution of nuts.
09:58.925 --> 10:00.848
[JOHN]: It's kind of like violent tea biking.
10:01.529 --> 10:02.791
[DEREK]: And something like that.
10:02.991 --> 10:08.659
[DEREK]: Yeah, I feel like maybe when he was younger, he wouldn't have been able to do it from so far across the room.
10:08.679 --> 10:11.583
[DEREK]: Maybe he was much more close to the combat fighter.
10:11.944 --> 10:16.630
[JOHN]: Yeah, it's a development gear.
10:16.610 --> 10:21.218
[JOHN]: Yeah, kind of using his notes, but now he's got the reach.
10:21.458 --> 10:21.779
[DEREK]: Yeah.
10:21.799 --> 10:22.560
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
10:22.580 --> 10:23.782
[DEREK]: I really love this setup.
10:23.802 --> 10:24.663
[DEREK]: I really love this idea.
10:24.683 --> 10:34.139
[DEREK]: You know, the whole concept of Garth Ellis's comic book, and Dark Robinson's comic book is that it's taking what would the world be like if Superheroes were in the world.
10:34.299 --> 10:38.746
[DEREK]: We've had, you know, teenage Superheroes and teenage kicks obviously early on this season.
10:39.267 --> 10:40.930
[DEREK]: We've had, um,
10:40.910 --> 10:42.833
[DEREK]: music stars who have superpowers.
10:42.873 --> 10:55.311
[DEREK]: We've had the church who have superpowers and there we have this old folk song where pirate people who've gotten to an age where they can no longer go in practice, being soups in the world are sent to retire.
10:55.331 --> 11:03.523
[DEREK]: I love that in the background you hear all the adverts from the 30s, 40s, 50s all the way up to today and how brutal they are as well.
11:03.543 --> 11:07.288
[DEREK]: They're still what was as bad back in the 50s as it is now, you know.
11:07.268 --> 11:18.443
[DEREK]: But I love that we have, these little touches to this whole community set up of soups that have reached retirement and then they have to be shuffled off into the old folks.
11:19.405 --> 11:20.105
[JOHN]: Yeah, absolutely.
11:20.186 --> 11:22.008
[JOHN]: It's kind of a full life cycle thing.
11:22.288 --> 11:27.075
[JOHN]: I like the fact that there's only the V1 that kind of in the sense grants immortality.
11:28.777 --> 11:31.521
[JOHN]: It's interesting that as well with the V1, because
11:32.446 --> 11:50.117
[JOHN]: The immortality bit is right in a sense, because of soldier boy and so on, however, storm from Tetrisume had V1 in as well, and she ultimately, they could be killed even though they are almost immortal.
11:50.779 --> 11:51.079
[JOHN]: Yeah.
11:52.223 --> 11:52.944
[DEREK]: Yes.
11:52.964 --> 11:53.785
[DEREK]: They're not invincible.
11:53.865 --> 11:55.868
[DEREK]: They're not invincible.
11:55.888 --> 11:56.148
[DEREK]: Exactly.
11:56.168 --> 11:56.309
[DEREK]: Yes.
11:56.569 --> 11:57.370
[DEREK]: Well, yeah.
11:57.490 --> 11:59.152
[DEREK]: There's people that have had to be one that are dead.
11:59.373 --> 12:01.215
[DEREK]: I would say that's accurate.
12:01.235 --> 12:01.476
[DEREK]: Yes.
12:01.636 --> 12:02.397
[DEREK]: Yeah.
12:03.639 --> 12:14.834
[DEREK]: There are nods in here, and I'm sure we'll talk about it as we go through this episode and the last two episodes of this season, there are nods here that we will learn more about what we want to actually do is when we get to vote rising.
12:15.375 --> 12:17.117
[DEREK]: You know, that's a lot of little.
12:17.097 --> 12:29.473
[DEREK]: intricacies that are being set up here or maybe even changes to what we thought was happening in earlier seasons that are going to be answered unfortunately over and in thought rising but it makes what rising interesting as well.
12:29.533 --> 12:38.144
[DEREK]: It's not going to be the standalone series that has no connection to the boys and so a couple of things that we may think we know we may not we may find out a different one we get over there.
12:38.164 --> 12:39.065
[JOHN]: Yes I like that.
12:39.145 --> 12:46.615
[JOHN]: I also like the fact that
12:46.932 --> 12:50.696
[JOHN]: they gang up to protect Goldie from the boys.
12:50.717 --> 13:00.648
[JOHN]: And I like also the fact that with the legend, you know, they're not beyond being smussy, dirty, and horny.
13:00.708 --> 13:12.923
[JOHN]: So I think one of the classic lines from this is that where he says, I dined out at Goldies, that establishment, the surface was excellent, for something like that.
13:12.903 --> 13:22.218
[JOHN]: And I mean, it's like, that's so smooth, you know, that's so, so under the radar, smoothy from from the legend or chat.
13:22.499 --> 13:28.950
[JOHN]: Yeah, that's Vanderbilt as he's known in the cinematic reception world.
13:28.990 --> 13:29.190
[JOHN]: Yes.
13:29.591 --> 13:32.215
[JOHN]: And I just thought was really, really good.
13:32.556 --> 13:34.519
[JOHN]: And he's like that all the way through.
13:34.539 --> 13:36.803
[JOHN]: And I think that was great.
13:36.823 --> 13:38.245
[DEREK]: Yeah, I couldn't believe it.
13:38.265 --> 13:38.826
[DEREK]: I thought,
13:38.806 --> 13:43.832
[DEREK]: when they mentioned the legend last episode and I'm just going to go and all these gone to grand will never hear from them again.
13:43.872 --> 14:01.152
[DEREK]: And genuinely I thought they were just saying we wouldn't hear from them because they couldn't get polarized or back for this season and I just thought they were just giving themselves an edge and then here he is in the next episode of course they were setting up the fact that they will be going at looking for the legend so delighted that he's back here because he's so good in this episode.
14:01.132 --> 14:18.533
[JOHN]: Yeah, and I mean, the other nice thing about this, um, I guess the vault villages side was just the connection that kamiko does, um, form with golden gaysia, um, uh, in that she goes, you know, you were the first person on TV that looked like me.
14:18.513 --> 14:26.811
[JOHN]: even through the racial stereotyping and jokes that was done.
14:26.851 --> 14:34.046
[JOHN]: And I mean we do kind of see one around the Injian engine nine as well and he's there as well.
14:34.106 --> 14:38.395
[JOHN]: So it's that kind of level of
14:38.375 --> 14:57.683
[JOHN]: Representation show we say on screen one that comes with a whole dose of stereo types and and racism and I but I I do I like that there's this connection here even through that kind of nonsense between Kameko and and golden gaysia
14:57.663 --> 15:22.837
[DEREK]: And you know, yourself as well, you know, when I was back in the ages and there were gay characters in TV, there was so broadly drawn and there were so sometimes really embarrassing and not represented but just to have a gay person on TV when we were kids was something that you would be inspired by, just knowing that there are people out there in the world that are like, at least there's some kind of representation, how bad it is or not, doesn't really matter when there's nothing else to see or know where their options are suppose.
15:23.158 --> 15:24.700
[JOHN]: Oh, you project is.
15:24.680 --> 15:42.444
[JOHN]: given that we have recently watched The Lost Boys, you projected your homosexuality onto a straight people like Robert Patrick in The Lost Boys, and that's almost ace.
15:42.564 --> 15:47.110
[DEREK]: You're almost, you've almost got a gay character in there, you're almost.
15:47.090 --> 15:49.714
[DEREK]: But yes, so kind of see you can be guys pointing.
15:49.734 --> 15:57.807
[DEREK]: It's interesting as the rest of the episode plays out and how the relationship with Goldigotia and Bumsite plays out such that there's some similarities there as well.
15:58.568 --> 16:02.174
[JOHN]: Yeah, I think yeah, not sack was Was great.
16:02.234 --> 16:04.418
[JOHN]: I think I had him down as testicle sack.
16:04.798 --> 16:05.259
[JOHN]: Well, there you go.
16:05.680 --> 16:08.825
[DEREK]: Yeah, just wouldn't fit as well And as a name pack name pack.
16:08.845 --> 16:11.629
[JOHN]: No, but sack is with it with no K
16:11.609 --> 16:13.854
[DEREK]: I'll very good, okay, yep, could plan up.
16:14.315 --> 16:15.136
[JOHN]: It's still longer.
16:15.257 --> 16:17.461
[JOHN]: It is.
16:17.481 --> 16:19.546
[DEREK]: Again, maybe it's just increased over the years.
16:20.167 --> 16:21.931
[JOHN]: Testi sack, yes.
16:21.991 --> 16:22.893
[JOHN]: Maybe, did do.
16:22.913 --> 16:24.075
[DEREK]: Maybe.
16:24.095 --> 16:27.443
[JOHN]: I wonder how they tested it out on the Zordian.
16:27.643 --> 16:28.344
[JOHN]: Oh, dude, done.
16:28.505 --> 16:29.567
[JOHN]: Anyway.
16:29.547 --> 16:33.333
[JOHN]: Anything else I'd like to hear from you before I'm done.
16:33.874 --> 16:39.583
[JOHN]: Well, it's really good of gone with this actually in many respects.
16:39.643 --> 16:47.556
[JOHN]: It wasn't quite as bad as it could have been at the old people's care home to be honest.
16:47.536 --> 16:51.421
[JOHN]: because really they only showed saggy notes.
16:51.441 --> 16:57.007
[JOHN]: And the whole rake of all the stuff that, you know, super-powered could have been horrendous.
16:57.048 --> 16:58.890
[JOHN]: There are definitely other options.
16:58.970 --> 16:59.771
[JOHN]: So they're going for it.
16:59.791 --> 17:04.777
[JOHN]: Otherwise, I just liked how this brought a different ensemble on screen.
17:04.817 --> 17:05.237
[DEREK]: Exactly.
17:05.518 --> 17:05.918
[DEREK]: Exactly.
17:05.958 --> 17:06.379
[DEREK]: Great stuff.
17:06.879 --> 17:09.823
[DEREK]: I'll move on with my pro-tag honest moment from the episode.
17:10.243 --> 17:14.809
[DEREK]: I really like the alternative plan that they're trying to release the virus in
17:14.789 --> 17:19.502
[DEREK]: homelanders church ahead of his sermon so that he is going to be taken out by the virus.
17:20.024 --> 17:23.874
[DEREK]: And it's left to Annie and Hughie to go and set it up.
17:23.895 --> 17:30.132
[DEREK]: We have them being caught in the act by O' Father.
17:30.112 --> 17:46.450
[DEREK]: mostly because the conversation happens, like the idea here has always been that Annie has been a Christian superhero coming from the beginning of the first time that we saw her right back in season one episode one and she's dealing with a character like O' Father who was an inspirational person in the church.
17:46.430 --> 17:52.025
[DEREK]: as a soup and using his parrots to bring the flock together to worship God effectively.
17:52.386 --> 18:00.668
[DEREK]: And here she is standing in front of him and this golden statue of home actor, which is now taken the place of Jesus in the church and then taken place of God in the church.
18:01.149 --> 18:01.570
[DEREK]: It's...
18:02.427 --> 18:12.253
[DEREK]: the fact that you have those two characters standing off against each other and Annie cannot understand how he would be twisted so much by what home landers telling him to do.
18:12.273 --> 18:16.043
[DEREK]: I just think it's a really good conversation, really good argument.
18:16.645 --> 18:18.630
[DEREK]: That's there.
18:18.610 --> 18:39.015
[DEREK]: We have, oh father saying, you know, when I was eight years old, I started preaching and people would come to my house and tell me to pray for them to pray for them to get well or to get a job or to save them in some way and God never listened to me at all, but when I speak homeland or listens, and then he says, what I think that I thought was really funny, he says, um,
18:38.995 --> 18:43.242
[DEREK]: homeland took this church from the ashes and returned to a powerful church.
18:43.542 --> 18:46.447
[DEREK]: And my head I was going, yeah, 15 million in death.
18:46.467 --> 18:47.869
[DEREK]: Yeah, he's dead.
18:47.929 --> 18:49.632
[DEREK]: So all that he's really done.
18:49.652 --> 18:50.914
[DEREK]: He hasn't saved the church.
18:51.054 --> 18:56.502
[DEREK]: All he's done is gotten you as of death or were given you more money to play into whatever you were playing it into before.
18:56.583 --> 18:56.903
[DEREK]: So
18:56.883 --> 19:05.273
[DEREK]: Yeah, he's twisted everything to his own ideals, not connected with Christianity, not connected with the fight that he had supported for all of these years.
19:05.673 --> 19:12.141
[DEREK]: But just interestingly, the connection with Annie going all the way back to when she was a kid, or he was her cool little brother.
19:12.541 --> 19:20.130
[DEREK]: He wasn't too stressed about the church, but was willing to give her guidance, and she always respected him.
19:20.150 --> 19:21.692
[DEREK]: And now she has to...
19:21.672 --> 19:23.716
[DEREK]: go against him because he doesn't respect him anymore.
19:24.077 --> 19:29.788
[DEREK]: But interestingly in the fight, O' Father seems super powerful, very, very powerful.
19:29.808 --> 19:34.637
[DEREK]: He knocks down a two or three times, and he can't even get purchased to be able to use her parents against him.
19:35.158 --> 19:38.685
[JOHN]: Exactly, no, that's the thing that stood out for me was just help.
19:39.121 --> 19:46.173
[JOHN]: actually strong he is with regards to his breath, I would say.
19:46.213 --> 19:58.935
[JOHN]: And initially I was thinking, you know, those waves that we have seen at his previous
19:58.915 --> 20:06.624
[JOHN]: It is that sort of a way for him to manipulate or to penetrate the word into people's brains.
20:06.684 --> 20:10.068
[JOHN]: I think it was something like that, a visual representation of that.
20:10.528 --> 20:13.271
[JOHN]: And now thinking it is just like, almost sonic.
20:13.352 --> 20:13.672
[JOHN]: Boom.
20:13.712 --> 20:16.115
[JOHN]: Just almost like Banshee.
20:16.135 --> 20:16.315
[JOHN]: Mm-hmm.
20:16.816 --> 20:17.296
[JOHN]: Really.
20:17.396 --> 20:21.781
[JOHN]: But it's just in the way that he deploys it here against Annie.
20:21.821 --> 20:25.125
[JOHN]: Yeah, he certainly is quicker off the market, as it
20:25.105 --> 20:43.570
[JOHN]: I think you're right, she's just not able to get the perch as quick you know and you know that I thought that was really really interesting, really good, look at O-fathers power set and I do like the fact as well in this moment, yeah, that
20:43.550 --> 20:49.936
[JOHN]: they are almost reminiscing about their time together when they were younger.
20:50.196 --> 20:50.977
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
20:50.997 --> 21:01.146
[DEREK]: I love to see that Ali's going, you know, remember you gave me guidance to knock up that cross on my back and it was going, yeah, I thought a cross shaped tramp stand sent a wrong message to everybody.
21:01.626 --> 21:05.690
[DEREK]: And she says to, well, you know, nobody likes to be told that they're wrong, like you were.
21:05.770 --> 21:09.834
[DEREK]: And you're making the wrong decision that could affect all of us for the rest of our lives.
21:09.894 --> 21:10.374
[DEREK]: Really enjoy it.
21:10.795 --> 21:13.557
[DEREK]: And the outcome of this is that
21:13.537 --> 21:20.465
[DEREK]: who he effectively threatens, so far, they're with the virus, dropping the virus, killing both him and Danny.
21:21.487 --> 21:23.349
[DEREK]: What tells him that, and he has the antidote?
21:23.509 --> 21:24.030
[DEREK]: Yeah.
21:24.150 --> 21:25.792
[DEREK]: So I think there's something interesting in there.
21:25.872 --> 21:31.599
[DEREK]: Number one, he's told, oh, father, that there is an antidote, which has a right now, there isn't an antidote.
21:31.619 --> 21:40.149
[DEREK]: Yeah, I've heard, but, oh, father has that information now, and also they didn't get to plant the virus at the church, they had to abandon their plan.
21:40.330 --> 21:41.451
[DEREK]: So,
21:41.431 --> 21:42.432
[DEREK]: So that's not going to happen.
21:42.572 --> 21:52.243
[DEREK]: They have the virus still, but no father may think that he has an antidote in case somebody comes looking for an antidote in the next couple of episodes.
21:52.283 --> 21:52.584
[DEREK]: Yeah.
21:52.604 --> 21:52.984
[DEREK]: There you go.
21:53.405 --> 21:56.088
[DEREK]: That is my pro tag of this moment for the episode.
21:56.108 --> 21:57.830
[DEREK]: Let's move on to our antagonist moments, John.
21:59.071 --> 22:00.172
[HOMELANDER]: You're not the real heroes.
22:02.936 --> 22:03.757
[HOMELANDER]: I'm the real hero.
22:04.537 --> 22:07.641
[DEREK]: So, John, what's your antagonist moment for the episode?
22:07.942 --> 22:13.431
[JOHN]: And my big one is the fight is actually between soldier boy and bomb site.
22:13.631 --> 22:18.579
[JOHN]: And I like the fact that they clearly do dislike one another.
22:18.699 --> 22:24.748
[JOHN]: And it's almost like they're running as an automatic car almost.
22:24.788 --> 22:27.312
[JOHN]: They're just, you put it in gear and off it go.
22:27.332 --> 22:35.485
[JOHN]: Yes, they're just immediately as bomb site and see soldier boy arrive at the kind of,
22:35.465 --> 22:49.433
[JOHN]: the V1 drop off for the boys and because we're going to bear in mind there is golden gaseo there that has you know being effectively held out as bait to pull in bomb site.
22:49.653 --> 22:51.938
[JOHN]: Yeah, I mean the other thing that will come to a little bit.
22:51.918 --> 23:09.421
[JOHN]: bit later is, you know, we have sister sage there as well as book Billy Bookcher, Mother's Milk and Camico and Frenchy and here, you know, it's immediately these two are focused on on one another.
23:10.022 --> 23:11.023
[JOHN]: And so,
23:11.003 --> 23:31.907
[JOHN]: I think it's kind of just interesting to see this fight play out really here, because firstly, bombsite has brought the V1, which you know, there's a lot of people there saying, how he's stupid enough to have done that, including Golden Gage, which I really like.
23:31.988 --> 23:36.673
[JOHN]: It's not just the sage powers of sister sage, it's just,
23:36.653 --> 24:03.370
[JOHN]: is just the knowledge from Golden Gatia, but I like that the interchange between their first names, so social boys calling in Robby, and Rob and bomb sites is calling social boy Ben, and you have bomb site pleading with Ben to kind of stop because I think one of the things that informs this fight is yes they do dislike one another and always
24:03.350 --> 24:07.477
[JOHN]: have done, but the reasons come out for it.
24:07.537 --> 24:14.989
[JOHN]: You know, the fact that bonsai wasn't the face of what Vort was building.
24:15.791 --> 24:23.163
[JOHN]: And I think this plays on the mind to what soldier boy does later with the V1 when he gets it in his grasp.
24:24.124 --> 24:25.206
[JOHN]: So yours.
24:25.186 --> 24:31.322
[JOHN]: bombs like always felt incredibly sort of inadequate around this.
24:32.044 --> 24:40.967
[JOHN]: And actually now because of the conversations with Golden Gasey, the reason he brings to V1 is to give Golden Gasey it so that
24:40.947 --> 24:43.070
[JOHN]: she would be saved from this kidnapping.
24:43.771 --> 24:46.195
[JOHN]: But Golden Gaysha's told him a million times.
24:46.736 --> 24:47.457
[JOHN]: I don't want it.
24:47.837 --> 24:54.027
[JOHN]: I don't want to be immortal like you because we'll never age.
24:54.287 --> 24:58.954
[JOHN]: Like in a sense she's accepted her death.
24:59.155 --> 25:02.239
[JOHN]: She's accepted that she is immortal.
25:02.820 --> 25:09.891
[JOHN]: Even though she is a superhero, as she says,
25:09.871 --> 25:28.302
[JOHN]: And I think that, you know, the other side of this, it's an interesting sort of little sub-nodes here as well as that Kameko kind of explains to Frenchy that in a sense they've come to the same conclusion, because that Why they won't take it and will take the risk of being exposed.
25:28.282 --> 25:37.437
[JOHN]: to this virus, because I think as kamikos says, you know, we don't want to die, but we don't want to be vampires either.
25:37.617 --> 25:40.842
[JOHN]: So living beyond the time that's a lot of tours.
25:41.403 --> 25:46.932
[JOHN]: And in the sense bomb site is also beginning to realize, you know,
25:49.038 --> 26:00.803
[JOHN]: that this extension of time is way beyond what he needs as well and in a sense because he wants to join golden gaysha he exact and exact.
26:00.883 --> 26:06.355
[JOHN]: So his asks soldier boy if he can remove
26:06.335 --> 26:23.787
[JOHN]: his powers and soldier boy kind of says that and he can remove your powers and the immortality of the V1 from him and his powers that he can destroy the compound in anybody else's body around him.
26:23.767 --> 26:43.868
[DEREK]: So by doing that he's able to take out the V1 really important that we know the sociable can do this right Absolutely for it for the end of the series But I do love the argument I do love the kind of back and forth here because this is the same argument that we saw in Lord of the Rings with Argonne Arwin you know the idea that she will live forever, but he will
26:43.848 --> 26:49.078
[DEREK]: while he can live longer, she will eventually outlive him, can she live with that?
26:49.499 --> 26:56.031
[DEREK]: It's the same argument they see in the vampire chronicles and analysis books, you know, the idea that you are in a mortal vampire.
26:56.412 --> 26:57.113
[DEREK]: What do you do?
26:57.174 --> 26:58.195
[DEREK]: Do you take the person with them?
26:58.216 --> 27:02.804
[DEREK]: You know, in some sense, of course we saw that in lots and lots of other vampire stories as well.
27:02.884 --> 27:06.852
[DEREK]: But the idea is that if you fall in love with someone, you want to spend
27:07.287 --> 27:09.189
[DEREK]: your entire immortality with them.
27:09.369 --> 27:13.412
[DEREK]: And if that person chooses not to become immortal, then you will watch them with her an age and die.
27:14.053 --> 27:18.017
[DEREK]: Golden gaysha has totally accepted that she will die.
27:18.077 --> 27:26.124
[DEREK]: And it seems like bombsite here is saying he would never want to live with Asia, but he's giving her every opportunity to live forever along alongside him.
27:26.144 --> 27:30.968
[JOHN]: Yeah, I mean, it's interesting, you know, she is in a wheelchair with the drip.
27:31.228 --> 27:36.653
[JOHN]: He looks like
27:36.633 --> 27:44.360
[JOHN]: Solge Boy that says, you know, he will give back his mortality and remove the powers for the V1.
27:44.480 --> 27:45.281
[JOHN]: Yeah.
27:45.301 --> 27:55.330
[JOHN]: And, you know, and he, he does this, bombsite, and gives him the V1 and becomes mortal and loses powers.
27:56.251 --> 28:03.838
[JOHN]: He sees the blood on him and he's like, I haven't seen my blood since
28:03.818 --> 28:26.165
[JOHN]: Again, as you say, just really important for the personal storyline of Gatia or Golden Gatia and Bomsite, when equally for the wider story, given what happens by the end of the episode, and maybe some of the only roots for dealing with soups with V1.
28:26.626 --> 28:29.910
[JOHN]: And I wonder if that has crossed the mind of home under?
28:29.890 --> 28:37.346
[JOHN]: Well, perhaps ultimately perhaps, is that something he's overlooked or just isn't really aware of?
28:37.566 --> 28:41.655
[DEREK]: Yeah, you know, yeah, we will definitely see how that plays, I'm sure.
28:41.675 --> 28:47.106
[DEREK]: Yeah, the other question I do have is we have got a character from GenV.
28:47.086 --> 28:56.162
[DEREK]: who is able to take the powers of any other superhero for 90 seconds and use them herself, which is how GenV finished.
28:56.402 --> 29:00.810
[DEREK]: Yes, could she possibly take soldier boys' powers and use them to take out homelander?
29:00.870 --> 29:08.824
[DEREK]: If we are going to see the GenV characters come in for the final battle at the end of the, at the end of the boys, so maybe it's not soldier boy that does it, maybe it is.
29:08.804 --> 29:14.449
[DEREK]: Harper, another character on the side of good, so hopefully they'll work out some way to do that.
29:14.469 --> 29:17.231
[JOHN]: That would be kind of cool if that was really interesting.
29:18.392 --> 29:28.862
[JOHN]: It's a bit of a team up maybe then between homeland and soldier boy and they have to work around these two V1 carrying soups.
29:28.882 --> 29:29.883
[DEREK]: Yeah, there you go.
29:29.963 --> 29:38.170
[DEREK]: That's my prediction for the end of the day.
29:38.437 --> 29:43.684
[DEREK]: I found Farewell to another member of the seven, good bye, Black New Art, too.
29:44.065 --> 29:59.145
[DEREK]: I kind of like the set up of this, the fact that we see the deep once again going to an even lower level than he's gone too previously, sister saves, talks him into making a PSA, a bash.
29:59.125 --> 30:22.078
[DEREK]: the fact that this pipeline is being built through the ocean and that he has to convince the world, this pipeline is a good idea to stop all the oil pipeline protesters and you see deep space just gotta go and put fish notoriously don't like oil going through their lands and effectively black noir chooses this
30:22.801 --> 30:32.312
[DEREK]: opportunity to get his revenge on the deep for killing Adam Bork last week's episode by basically cutting into the pipeline.
30:33.413 --> 30:44.546
[DEREK]: We learned this after we see the deep covered in oil in the ocean trying to save some of the fish and we hear one of the fish telling the deep we know what you did.
30:45.067 --> 30:52.015
[DEREK]: We know that you're the one that said this was okay to come through here so the fish aren't any
30:51.995 --> 30:59.444
[JOHN]: Well, no, I mean, he says it's organic, it comes from the earth and all those dinosaurs would have died for nothing.
30:59.464 --> 31:01.806
[DEREK]: Yes, that's his PSA, yes.
31:01.846 --> 31:12.879
[DEREK]: But the guy when he gets back to his podcast room and talking to a to black noir, black noir to reveals that it was him that that cracked up at the pipeline.
31:12.899 --> 31:14.000
[DEREK]: Pretty easy to do, he says.
31:14.541 --> 31:16.583
[DEREK]: It's really poorly made effectively.
31:17.484 --> 31:20.668
[DEREK]: And yeah,
31:21.880 --> 31:25.429
[DEREK]: Black Nuar has done is killed 1.4 billion fish.
31:26.492 --> 31:32.667
[DEREK]: And we know from the Dixport view that is the equivalent of killing 1.4 billion people because the Dixport
31:33.203 --> 31:37.046
[DEREK]: treats all of the creatures in the ocean like better than human really.
31:37.667 --> 31:41.010
[DEREK]: So, it's mass genocide from this point of view.
31:41.210 --> 31:45.754
[DEREK]: And what he chooses to do is stab him in the throat, killing black newer creatures.
31:45.774 --> 31:50.758
[JOHN]: Well, he finds it funny, or all the deep things that black noir is finding this funny.
31:51.158 --> 31:54.421
[JOHN]: And he goes, you think the fish holocaust is funny.
31:55.122 --> 32:02.248
[JOHN]: And yeah, also the black noir
32:02.228 --> 32:03.330
[JOHN]: it into the chin.
32:03.390 --> 32:11.184
[JOHN]: Yeah, I mean, I guess I actually just didn't see it coming that the deep was going to kill Black Noir.
32:11.204 --> 32:12.948
[JOHN]: I thought it was going to be the other way around.
32:13.449 --> 32:19.680
[JOHN]: And then seeing this play out, I thought that was a really sort of nice way of doing it.
32:19.660 --> 32:31.383
[JOHN]: Ultimately, though, the deep is in the wind, he kind of immediately seems to regret what he's done, not so much maybe for Black Nuar, but for his position at force.
32:31.483 --> 32:32.185
[DEREK]: It's a big deal.
32:32.886 --> 32:36.053
[DEREK]: Black Nuar has been around for a very, very long time.
32:36.073 --> 32:40.842
[DEREK]: It was number two besides home lander for years, and they replaced him with
32:41.193 --> 32:43.198
[DEREK]: black noir too when black noir died, right?
32:43.238 --> 32:51.637
[DEREK]: So it was a really important person to be replaced and effectively the deep has just gone out and killed him without asking permission from home under.
32:51.677 --> 32:56.548
[DEREK]: So he's probably thinking I'm in a bad place here or could be in a very bad place here.
32:56.588 --> 32:58.172
[DEREK]: So yeah.
32:58.861 --> 32:59.943
[DEREK]: we'll see how that goes.
32:59.963 --> 33:11.845
[DEREK]: But interestingly, yeah, that kind of puts the deep back on the table for a star life to finally get a revenge from season one episode one and take it by the end of the season, which it's still think is the way it should have gone.
33:12.566 --> 33:16.714
[DEREK]: Real sad that we've lost a black noir, too, though, he's been a very interesting actually.
33:16.814 --> 33:19.519
[DEREK]: And to have him as this person, he has to hide
33:19.499 --> 33:24.187
[DEREK]: being able to talk in front of every single person except for the deep who hates him anyway.
33:25.490 --> 33:28.776
[DEREK]: It was an interesting way to close it all night for the character.
33:28.936 --> 33:31.641
[DEREK]: But that's my antagonist moment for the episode.
33:31.661 --> 33:34.005
[DEREK]: John will move on to our final outstanding moments.
33:34.025 --> 33:34.826
[JUDGE]: Just stuff.
33:34.846 --> 33:35.508
[JUDGE]: Thank you.
33:35.528 --> 33:36.850
[JUDGE]: You have five minutes to make your opening statements.
33:40.795 --> 33:44.480
[DEREK]: Where do you want to go where you're final outstanding moment from the episode?
33:45.141 --> 33:50.247
[JOHN]: It's ultimately when home lander gets the V. We get the lasers into the sky.
33:51.769 --> 34:01.302
[JOHN]: And as he actually takes the V1, I think, you know, just sort of leading to that point is really quite
34:01.282 --> 34:03.986
[JOHN]: good and the way it's done in this episode.
34:04.046 --> 34:27.458
[JOHN]: I love the fact that you know we have this brief moment of the V1 development testing which provides a nicely amusing opening to the boys through the credits that get splashes in the book blood that is being ejected from one of the
34:27.438 --> 34:28.621
[JOHN]: That's it.
34:28.641 --> 34:28.941
[JOHN]: Yes.
34:29.042 --> 34:29.523
[DEREK]: Exactly.
34:29.563 --> 34:29.964
[JOHN]: Probably 50.
34:30.285 --> 34:39.726
[JOHN]: But I think the interesting point here is, you know, you have, as you say, cessating, well, this time, next time is the charm.
34:40.227 --> 34:42.713
[JOHN]: But you have home under.
34:42.693 --> 34:44.415
[JOHN]: I don't think he's necessary clicked.
34:44.435 --> 34:47.858
[JOHN]: I think that comes a little later, but he says, keep swinging, you'll get there.
34:48.639 --> 34:54.065
[JOHN]: You know, I don't imagine that Vort is cleverer than you say.
34:54.145 --> 35:09.561
[JOHN]: So yeah, he's expecting that this development will work or he is now starting to get concerned that it's not working because of the
35:09.541 --> 35:27.195
[DEREK]: Sister Sage will back engineering effectively the V1 compound and he is right Isn't it the no way that Sister Sage wouldn't have been able to recreate anything that was done in the past if she said it Mine to it so doing 35 attempts and not achieving this it sounds like she's
35:27.175 --> 35:29.421
[DEREK]: trying to prevent us from being created, right?
35:29.441 --> 35:37.403
[DEREK]: She said before she's doing everything she can to make sure that he doesn't get his hands a V1 and one of the easiest things is messing up the experiments, right?
35:37.463 --> 35:39.228
[DEREK]: So that's what you must be doing.
35:39.248 --> 35:41.033
[DEREK]: There's no way that she hasn't.
35:41.637 --> 35:44.001
[JOHN]: Yeah, I mean, I think such this.
35:44.021 --> 35:57.121
[JOHN]: I still though think that it kind of only clicks together then a bit later where you have both homelander and soldier boy on the trail of bombsite here.
35:57.943 --> 36:00.186
[JOHN]: You just have this laptop.
36:00.166 --> 36:14.795
[JOHN]: at the house that they've just broken into, with effectively home lander and killing stormfront and or having the sort of, the, the, the, the stump job.
36:14.895 --> 36:15.937
[JOHN]: The stump job?
36:15.977 --> 36:16.819
[DEREK]: Yeah, exactly.
36:16.859 --> 36:19.845
[DEREK]: And just treating her absolutely
36:19.825 --> 36:24.332
[DEREK]: despicably in the mind of soldier boys, how could you possibly treat this woman like that?
36:24.433 --> 36:28.359
[DEREK]: You know, how could you treat a woman that has amazing as she was in his mind?
36:29.000 --> 36:30.322
[DEREK]: You know, how could you treat her like?
36:30.342 --> 36:30.783
[JOHN]: Well, that's it.
36:30.863 --> 36:31.724
[JOHN]: He freaks out.
36:31.945 --> 36:39.617
[JOHN]: You have effectively home-under saying this is a set-up by sage and he tries to get out of it.
36:39.657 --> 36:45.006
[JOHN]: You know, I love to and so did you but I you know,
36:44.986 --> 36:51.918
[JOHN]: this is trying to sort of ripples apart, drive a wedge between us and I can't find the view on without you.
36:52.239 --> 36:58.650
[JOHN]: The soldier boy, if actually we leave saying good, you don't deserve to live forever after what he's just seen.
36:59.291 --> 37:07.686
[JOHN]: And I think, again, the other side here, just to connect it into Sister Sage, is that we've seen Sister Sage effectively
37:07.666 --> 37:18.231
[JOHN]: want to understand homeland by bringing in Ashley and Bashley to actually get Bashley to read his mind.
37:18.271 --> 37:20.055
[JOHN]: And
37:21.622 --> 37:24.406
[JOHN]: Ashley's kind of broken the deal.
37:24.486 --> 37:34.339
[JOHN]: She doesn't want to do it anymore, because she actually doesn't trust Sage, which Sage is like, well, that makes sense.
37:34.860 --> 37:36.762
[JOHN]: But Sage is like, well, I've got to go to Plan B.
37:36.823 --> 37:46.836
[JOHN]: So she chlorophones Ashley in order so that she can speak directly
37:46.816 --> 37:57.280
[JOHN]: leads to the point where Bashli does read soldier boys mind as sage engineer his presence in her office.
37:57.540 --> 37:57.761
[JOHN]: Yeah.
37:58.542 --> 38:01.028
[JOHN]: And I mean, you really get the
38:01.210 --> 38:28.365
[JOHN]: the notion from Bashli that his head is all messed up, you know, she says that he's proud of homeland, but doesn't want him to know that, and he's actually thinking of helping him out, and that he may have a, you know, a trail for the V1 compound, and that's all freaked them both out, but Bashli says, I think I may have just shat Ashli's pants.
38:28.345 --> 38:43.367
[JOHN]: Now for her and on the basis of seeing sort of the crazy scramble days that is happening in soletra boys head and this ultimately is the reason why we have sister sage
38:43.347 --> 38:45.990
[JOHN]: putting her lots in on going with plan B.
38:46.331 --> 38:50.336
[DEREK]: Absolutely, but also Ashley was completely right not to trust sister.
38:50.396 --> 38:53.600
[DEREK]: Yes, because she just goes, right, I'm out of here, never come back.
38:53.620 --> 38:58.006
[DEREK]: And she will never be back to the terror, so you have Ashley on her own going, what am I supposed to do?
38:58.407 --> 39:00.429
[DEREK]: I'm a control of the body from the back of the head.
39:00.850 --> 39:01.791
[DEREK]: Can't do anything.
39:02.252 --> 39:06.317
[DEREK]: Ashley still chlorformed and sister's age is leaving her on her own there.
39:06.297 --> 39:13.448
[DEREK]: She has no address, I guess, for the book that Sister Sage might be going to in the future and Sister Sage is gone, right, into the wind.
39:13.468 --> 39:15.411
[DEREK]: So, yeah, Ashley was right.
39:15.992 --> 39:16.793
[JOHN]: Yeah, absolutely.
39:16.813 --> 39:30.955
[DEREK]: I guess the plan to of Sister Sage was completely ignore the fact that you've offered anything to Ashley,
39:30.935 --> 39:49.616
[JOHN]: And I think ultimately the what this comes to to pass were you have home under inserting himself into this kind of at big moment of the boys trying to get v1 from bombsite through the kidnapping of Golden Gacia.
39:49.996 --> 39:55.002
[JOHN]: You have soldier boy trying to get the v1 from self.
39:55.302 --> 40:10.797
[JOHN]: not entirely understanding what he's going to do with it and and homeowner has arrived here because the legends chat van developed just as a throwaway remark that
40:10.777 --> 40:19.068
[JOHN]: Golden Gatia has been dealing with and selling Vort alert necklaces on Vort TV.
40:19.589 --> 40:24.876
[JOHN]: And so he gets analytics to track her alert necklaces.
40:24.916 --> 40:38.775
[JOHN]: So it ends up being there and you know it's saying I don't want to fight you to soldier boy Give it to me and and in the end he hands his over and he as he says there's not because
40:39.937 --> 40:41.199
[JOHN]: of what I think.
40:41.220 --> 40:53.444
[JOHN]: It's because of what Clara would have wanted or stormfront, because you're the true form of what Vort is working towards, which she always used to say to him, and he says, but I've seen you.
40:53.504 --> 40:54.426
[JOHN]: Yes.
40:54.446 --> 40:58.654
[JOHN]: And she saw you and allies with you.
41:00.052 --> 41:01.615
[JOHN]: when I was out of action.
41:01.795 --> 41:05.562
[JOHN]: So to his mind, this is what Clara would have wanted.
41:06.143 --> 41:10.190
[JOHN]: And so he hands home and the V1.
41:10.811 --> 41:15.620
[DEREK]: It's that irrational decision based on love from soldier boy.
41:15.820 --> 41:20.068
[DEREK]: Yeah, completely unreadable from sister sage because you see her freaking air going.
41:20.048 --> 41:20.629
[DEREK]: What's he doing?
41:20.910 --> 41:21.812
[DEREK]: I didn't predict that at all.
41:21.892 --> 41:22.754
[DEREK]: It was no possibility.
41:22.774 --> 41:23.395
[DEREK]: You would have done that.
41:24.117 --> 41:28.767
[DEREK]: But it's because of the love that he had for Clara that makes him make that decision.
41:28.807 --> 41:32.134
[DEREK]: And here we have the immortal homeowner.
41:33.177 --> 41:36.202
[JOHN]: Exactly, I love the fact that he has to laser-resown skin open.
41:36.362 --> 41:37.263
[JOHN]: That was really cool.
41:37.403 --> 41:41.490
[JOHN]: In order to inject this, and then he has the reaction.
41:41.990 --> 41:46.497
[JOHN]: So we do just leave him with lasers powered up into the sky.
41:46.577 --> 41:53.668
[JOHN]: So hopefully, you know, jets were going across that flighty path when he shot them.
41:54.049 --> 41:55.350
[DEREK]: And we didn't go back to it again.
41:55.671 --> 41:58.836
[DEREK]: Season one episode, one if you just cut it back.
41:58.856 --> 41:59.016
[DEREK]: Exactly.
41:58.996 --> 42:19.063
[DEREK]: you have soldier boy kind of backing off and and Billy Butcher telling the boys ultimately and there's assembled including sister sage to run yeah yeah I did also like just a little touch because soldier boy taking away bombsites pairs as homelander a rye with bombsite just like since the other action because it would be
42:19.043 --> 42:31.843
[DEREK]: Absolutely in the boys' wheelhouse to take away bomb sites, Paris, so we can be there with his girlfriend, Golden Gatia, that's what he asked for, and then Homeland to come in and just cut him in half with his ex-laser eyes.
42:31.923 --> 42:39.094
[DEREK]: So they did a lay a bomb site to get eight of them at that moment, so furreduce them for not taking the opportunity for killing off right there.
42:40.056 --> 42:42.199
[DEREK]: Yeah, so we'll definitely see how that's going to play out.
42:42.179 --> 42:53.783
[JOHN]: Yeah, it's just really, really intriguing for it to happen and maybe I do think it was going to happen maybe just not like on episode six.
42:53.803 --> 42:53.963
[JOHN]: Yeah.
42:55.206 --> 43:01.379
[JOHN]: I don't know, but it's it's quite good because now we've got two episodes with home and a filled with the world.
43:01.399 --> 43:01.760
[DEREK]: Yeah.
43:01.780 --> 43:01.960
[DEREK]: Yeah.
43:01.940 --> 43:09.639
[DEREK]: I thought, like I know, the season has been very much a bit of a, uh, a keep away, uh, kind of thing go here, go there, try and find the V1, that's what it's been all about.
43:09.739 --> 43:17.197
[DEREK]: So I just didn't expect it to to be the last 20 minutes, the episode, they find the V1 and then I'm going to reject it into his, let's treat them and all that goes.
43:17.699 --> 43:19.543
[DEREK]: Um, so yeah, what an interesting one.
43:19.523 --> 43:24.269
[DEREK]: And my otherite standing moments just to give the legend his due.
43:24.929 --> 43:27.292
[DEREK]: I just want to talk about Paul Riser back in this role.
43:28.213 --> 43:38.525
[DEREK]: I love that from the beginning, we have him working in the vault theatre, talking to the young kids about the people that he shagged over the time that he's been the legend.
43:39.026 --> 43:47.556
[DEREK]: And the young guy that's his boss probably mid 20s to the legends 70s, I guess, 60 to 70 years old.
43:47.536 --> 43:50.840
[DEREK]: um, has no interest in the stories of the old man.
43:50.860 --> 43:54.484
[DEREK]: It's just, you know, clean the nozzle for the butter for the public.
43:54.504 --> 44:00.471
[JOHN]: But you see from worse than that, because it's don't forget to clean out the nacho cheese speaker.
44:00.611 --> 44:01.532
[JOHN]: Oh, nacho cheese.
44:01.552 --> 44:09.882
[JOHN]: And I mean, what with not sack, I mean, this is just all way to sort of it too much imagery.
44:10.222 --> 44:10.543
[JOHN]: Really.
44:10.563 --> 44:14.287
[JOHN]: And I think, um, but yeah, I love the dynamic here.
44:14.467 --> 44:15.889
[JOHN]: I mean, ultimately,
44:15.869 --> 44:24.945
[JOHN]: the young manager gets killed by homeland, because well, we needed to speak alone, yeah, and bought.
44:25.125 --> 44:30.975
[JOHN]: If it was like something out of the full monti of this notion of someone who has been the legend.
44:30.955 --> 44:36.904
[JOHN]: Okay, and who suddenly is working in a job that he would never have expected.
44:37.364 --> 44:41.711
[JOHN]: Because he's been my maize redundant or retired or well, they froze his bank account.
44:42.231 --> 44:43.053
[DEREK]: Do you know what I mean?
44:43.133 --> 44:54.229
[JOHN]: And it's like he's now trying to sort of just get some money together and is having to take a job that he feels is maybe
44:54.209 --> 44:56.253
[JOHN]: not the right one for him.
44:57.215 --> 45:02.627
[JOHN]: But I like the fact that he's taking it in his stride, but yeah, just reminiscing all the time.
45:02.667 --> 45:10.463
[JOHN]: And yeah, just the number of different words that you could
45:10.443 --> 45:11.585
[JOHN]: It's great.
45:11.605 --> 45:12.507
[JOHN]: What's the masterclass?
45:12.648 --> 45:12.928
[DEREK]: It was.
45:12.988 --> 45:13.449
[DEREK]: It was.
45:13.529 --> 45:15.554
[DEREK]: Paul Riser is just fantastic in this role.
45:15.574 --> 45:20.504
[DEREK]: And just as the episode goes on, he's the one that tells MM that it's golden.
45:20.524 --> 45:24.773
[DEREK]: Gator than he's to go and find when they aren't able to...
45:24.972 --> 45:31.699
[DEREK]: Convincer to give them the details for bombsite and MM says, well, I guess we're just going to come back tonight and kidnap her.
45:32.260 --> 45:33.721
[DEREK]: Um, legend calls at MM.
45:34.102 --> 45:37.906
[DEREK]: Um, cells will be sending more and more like butcher and that kind of gets through to MM.
45:38.266 --> 45:40.488
[DEREK]: Yeah, we were saying that MM has changed quite a lot.
45:40.949 --> 45:46.174
[DEREK]: This season he's accepted the fact that he's going to die and he's not going to be able to get back to his family and the legend can easily see us.
45:46.535 --> 45:51.860
[DEREK]: And saying, look, I'd rather die than change the way you have into someone like butcher.
45:51.880 --> 45:52.701
[DEREK]: You know, thought that was.
45:52.681 --> 46:15.482
[DEREK]: really interesting and and interestingly he has a moment with homelander as well where he's actually leads homelander to the high-dash for the boys where the legend believes the boys are going to be it turns out they're already gone and usually he knows that means the end that everybody's been in that kind of situation with homelander itself being dead but the legends
46:15.462 --> 46:20.173
[DEREK]: kind of is able to talk himself down and talk himself out of this situation.
46:20.775 --> 46:30.278
[DEREK]: He tells homelander that you know well I guess you know you are a bit crazy both them but that's just what talents like you know I've dealt with talent for years.
46:30.338 --> 46:33.606
[DEREK]: He tells them about all of the people that are in the
46:33.586 --> 46:35.769
[DEREK]: The old folk song that they were just in.
46:35.829 --> 46:48.584
[DEREK]: Everybody there believed that they were the best in the world And it just didn't work out for all of them and it is usually someone like the legend that tells them your time's up You need to retire and that day will come for home lander as well.
46:48.924 --> 47:02.901
[DEREK]: As it has come for the legend He has had his time He's had to move on and home landable just have to accept not everything in life goes your way and Absolutely I was expecting to see the eyes light up bush Yeah, yeah, the legend is Leca
47:02.881 --> 47:05.666
[JOHN]: Well, I mean, I think there's two things for me.
47:05.726 --> 47:09.131
[JOHN]: I mean, I think just having Paul Ryzer so good.
47:09.171 --> 47:15.361
[JOHN]: And I just love the double triple entangers that he uses.
47:15.502 --> 47:21.451
[JOHN]: It's just all of it is so insinuating filth.
47:22.132 --> 47:23.755
[JOHN]: And it's just really, really good.
47:23.795 --> 47:26.239
[JOHN]: And I like
47:26.219 --> 47:33.033
[JOHN]: that in this moment and this is the great thing about home under as a character.
47:33.153 --> 47:33.514
[JOHN]: It is.
47:33.574 --> 47:37.883
[JOHN]: Yeah, would he yet lasers, would he get ripped in half or won't he?
47:38.664 --> 47:43.033
[JOHN]: And I think here you have a moment of someone just speaking the truth.
47:43.053 --> 47:45.578
[JOHN]: He's like, well, I know you're going to kill me.
47:45.558 --> 47:47.461
[JOHN]: I'm not scared about that.
47:48.723 --> 47:54.932
[JOHN]: It's kind of almost slightly mirroring what Golden Gacia is saying to bombsite.
47:54.972 --> 47:55.132
[JOHN]: Yeah.
47:55.573 --> 47:58.097
[JOHN]: I don't mind growing old and dying.
47:58.557 --> 48:01.021
[JOHN]: He is like, I don't mind you killing me.
48:01.101 --> 48:02.122
[JOHN]: I've accepted that.
48:02.143 --> 48:03.304
[JOHN]: It's going to happen.
48:03.404 --> 48:04.947
[JOHN]: And here's why, as you say.
48:05.768 --> 48:09.253
[JOHN]: But in fact, he says it's because you're an effing watt job.
48:09.233 --> 48:10.956
[JOHN]: But that's talent.
48:11.217 --> 48:13.521
[JOHN]: It is the spectrum of talent.
48:13.741 --> 48:14.462
[JOHN]: I guess it's white.
48:14.923 --> 48:20.353
[JOHN]: You know in a non-soup world It's just all over the front pages of magazines and so on.
48:20.433 --> 48:31.613
[JOHN]: No wonder they go crazy and because Or go over private or whatever it is that they do and so there's that spectrum and he says well you're just
48:31.593 --> 48:33.477
[JOHN]: a white job, your office face.
48:34.278 --> 48:35.240
[JOHN]: But that is talent.
48:35.761 --> 48:41.111
[JOHN]: And I mean, the only way I wrote it down was that chat does what firecracker didn't.
48:41.291 --> 48:43.716
[JOHN]: He didn't say anything else.
48:43.876 --> 48:44.417
[JOHN]: Absolutely.
48:44.478 --> 48:48.465
[JOHN]: When homelanders you can go, no words go, go now.
48:48.726 --> 48:49.006
[JOHN]: Yep.
48:49.026 --> 48:49.788
[JOHN]: He just leaps.
48:49.808 --> 48:50.810
[JOHN]: Oh, Fox intelligence.
48:50.830 --> 48:50.950
[JOHN]: Yep.
48:51.331 --> 48:52.072
[JOHN]: And I'll feed walks.
48:52.092 --> 48:53.635
[JOHN]: He doesn't.
48:53.615 --> 48:55.638
[JOHN]: I mean, other than saying, are you sure?
48:55.658 --> 49:03.370
[JOHN]: Like he kind of, you know, there's a bit of interchange there, but ultimately he does what firecrack it didn't, and that was to leave silent.
49:03.551 --> 49:04.292
[JOHN]: Yeah, exactly.
49:04.392 --> 49:04.753
[JOHN]: Keep your magic.
49:04.773 --> 49:05.494
[JOHN]: Don't question it.
49:05.794 --> 49:06.876
[JOHN]: Keep your mouth shut and go.
49:07.156 --> 49:07.517
[DEREK]: Exactly.
49:07.797 --> 49:08.198
[DEREK]: Exactly.
49:09.480 --> 49:12.825
[DEREK]: So, yes, the legend is my other outstanding moment.
49:13.086 --> 49:14.388
[DEREK]: And I find on that one from the episode.
49:14.868 --> 49:18.154
[DEREK]: And then you also at the episode you want to mention, John, that we haven't mentioned at all.
49:18.394 --> 49:20.938
[JOHN]: No, there's nothing left for me.
49:20.918 --> 49:22.793
[DEREK]: I just got one that we haven't mentioned.
49:22.813 --> 49:25.596
[DEREK]: It was just one of the ads that I thought was
49:26.335 --> 49:43.278
[DEREK]: That was hilarious, the import-taste, which was the advertising devolved brand weight loss tablets on the LTBR, where a lady's put on a few too many pens, she thinks, and we find out that the vaup brand weight loss tablets are actually met.
49:43.778 --> 49:56.055
[DEREK]: You can take them, and maybe at the same time as breakfast, or maybe just instead of breakfast
49:56.035 --> 49:57.096
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
49:57.356 --> 49:59.979
[DEREK]: But with that Jarl, what did you think of the episode overall?
49:59.999 --> 50:02.883
[JOHN]: I really enjoyed this.
50:03.003 --> 50:05.486
[JOHN]: I thought it really moved towards the conclusion.
50:06.046 --> 50:07.768
[JOHN]: I liked how it was done.
50:07.788 --> 50:13.915
[JOHN]: I would give this four and a half Christmas swinging nuts and a sort of a five.
50:14.476 --> 50:20.343
[JOHN]: I just I love the injection here of the legend Jeff Vandervilt.
50:20.723 --> 50:21.604
[JOHN]: I think he
50:21.584 --> 50:38.952
[JOHN]: You know, words of wisdom and shall we say, not sage words, just words of wisdom from the business that he's worked in both mothers milk and from his experience as well, yeah, to both mothers milk and to.
50:38.932 --> 50:41.376
[JOHN]: homeland and ones that seemed to cut through.
50:41.396 --> 50:43.880
[JOHN]: And I really enjoyed that.
50:43.960 --> 51:04.112
[JOHN]: I loved having golden gaysha here and bomb sighting her finally, see bomb sight who he is and why he's been doing where he was doing you know, I thought maybe he was being sort of used by a sister sage who
51:04.092 --> 51:11.921
[JOHN]: the love of his life alive and that connects in with Camico and with Starlight's story.
51:11.941 --> 51:23.834
[JOHN]: I mean, even to the point where, you know, you have Starlight and Hughie sharing a small, but intimate moment before they actually go off to the Democratic Church of America to try and put that virus in place.
51:24.434 --> 51:26.877
[JOHN]: And all of this was really good.
51:26.857 --> 51:41.439
[JOHN]: And then, um, yeah, I guess the the surprise of finally understanding how soldier boy is going to rationalize in his own mind, the use of having the V1 in his hands.
51:41.499 --> 51:49.692
[JOHN]: You know, is he going to snap it in half, like her mind initially thinks, given how soldier boy walks out of that
51:49.672 --> 52:03.428
[JOHN]: set up by sage or is it going to give it to homeland and ultimately takes the path of something that wasn't predicted by by sister sage or me and which is
52:04.555 --> 52:31.491
[JOHN]: the person who probably I had the only connection with with all his shagging across the ages and was with Clara Stormfront and so did homeland to and that's actually the connection that has linked the two and as much as anything else and is that
52:31.471 --> 52:39.465
[JOHN]: She stood by you like she stood by me because she thought I was initially the face of thought I'm what he was trying to do.
52:39.906 --> 52:55.774
[JOHN]: It's now you it's almost like passing a baton here so actually in the end what you realize with soldier boy is he's a bit of a corporate man as well and so like I kind of liked that and I liked sort of the
52:55.754 --> 52:57.657
[JOHN]: the bombsite runs away from him.
52:57.737 --> 53:01.804
[JOHN]: You have soldier boy edging backwards after he's given it to him.
53:02.606 --> 53:11.721
[JOHN]: And you have the Billy Butcher effectively saying, Ron, so I'm really looking forward to seeing just how this then.
53:11.701 --> 53:13.765
[JOHN]: really plays out.
53:13.925 --> 53:16.651
[JOHN]: It's not what I was expecting for sure.
53:17.092 --> 53:20.879
[JOHN]: So yeah, at 4.5, Christmas, swinging.
53:21.861 --> 53:22.222
[JOHN]: Excellent.
53:22.443 --> 53:29.136
[DEREK]: Yeah, like this episode, I'm certainly looking forward to the conclusion of the show and how this is building towards it.
53:29.116 --> 53:38.415
[DEREK]: I'd still prefer a little less of a of the set up provot rising, especially because there's the end of the characters that we're seeing in a show coming up in about a year's time.
53:39.277 --> 53:46.071
[DEREK]: But it's making me more intrigued about watching that show, but I'm still glad they're doing so much for the characters in the boys.
53:46.632 --> 53:47.293
[DEREK]: Another.
53:47.273 --> 54:05.744
[DEREK]: Dead member of the seven losing black noir this week after losing a firecrackle last week Someone pointed out that this is the order in which those the one shots were delivered in the episode The first one was firecrackle the second was black noir one after that's terror will terror go next week Oh, maybe.
54:06.044 --> 54:07.006
[DEREK]: Oh, that's hope not, huh.
54:07.387 --> 54:08.168
[DEREK]: This is a good boy
54:08.148 --> 54:14.480
[DEREK]: is a very good boy, a boss didn't enjoy the episode for very much looking forward to the penultimate episode next week.
54:14.960 --> 54:17.806
[DEREK]: With that, John, I think we need to go and get a drink to down the local pub.
54:18.046 --> 54:19.288
[DEREK]: I got our next pub quiz question.
54:19.990 --> 54:24.638
[JOHN]: Yes indeed, at fellow boys and girls, fellow quizzes, it is quite
54:24.618 --> 54:28.947
[JOHN]: question six of the season five, Pope quiz for the boys.
54:29.589 --> 54:37.506
[JOHN]: The question is, what does death smell like according to the legend, chat, Vanderbilt, another great line from the episode.
54:37.526 --> 54:38.368
[DEREK]: Yeah, excellent stuff.
54:38.829 --> 54:40.232
[DEREK]: That's the sixth question.
54:40.272 --> 54:41.715
[DEREK]: John, don't think of it one more time.
54:41.695 --> 54:58.317
[DEREK]: Yes, what does death smell like according to the legend chat van dville fantastic collect all eight answers together and email into this at the end of the season to feedback at TV podcast industry dot com and you could be able to chance of getting your hands on some boys goodies at the end of the season.
54:58.918 --> 55:04.386
[DEREK]: With that I think it's time to take a little rest for our voices with some feedback from our wonderful fellow boys and girls.
55:04.466 --> 55:11.415
[DEREK]: First up, a voicemail from Harrison Fox
55:11.632 --> 55:40.457
[HARRISON]: boys episode they are really pushing this Vought Rising stuff and it's it's making me interested I'm curious to see what soldier boy and bomb sites beef is I'm really curious to see the interactions with liberty and I know yeah so just sprinkling that in now and I don't even know if there's a release date for bought rising yet but I am looking forward to it always great to see Paul
55:41.011 --> 56:05.382
[HARRISON]: Um, I really like the, the kind of deep emotional discussion on would you, would you want to live forever, if you have to watch those around you that you love, age and die and be left alone and potentially have to start a new or just never get over it, very deep thoughts, the questions, um, no, really great episode.
56:05.632 --> 56:19.615
[HARRISON]: watching Sage's plan fall apart because she is way too logical to understand how volatile emotions can be, you know, we got a couple episodes left and now we have a potentially immortal homelander.
56:20.216 --> 56:20.957
[HARRISON]: I'm very surprised.
56:20.977 --> 56:21.598
[HARRISON]: You got the V1.
56:21.618 --> 56:22.700
[HARRISON]: I didn't think he was going to.
56:23.581 --> 56:26.145
[HARRISON]: No, awesome episode.
56:26.225 --> 56:27.327
[HARRISON]: Can't wait to see where it goes.
56:28.169 --> 56:32.095
[HARRISON]: Four and a half,
56:32.294 --> 56:32.895
[HARRISON]: Talk to you, I soon.
56:33.776 --> 56:35.699
[DEREK]: Fantastic, very similar to you.
56:36.039 --> 56:40.786
[JOHN]: Yeah, I was thinking as you just as well, don't crack as out of fine.
56:40.806 --> 56:41.968
[DEREK]: Oh, yes, yes, very good.
56:42.589 --> 56:49.759
[DEREK]: Harrison just reminded me of just a part of that discussion about, you know, do you kind of live on or give a mortality to your partner if you're immortal?
56:50.320 --> 56:54.125
[DEREK]: I'm one of the things that's interesting about soldier boys a character and a lot of the discussion about this online.
56:55.006 --> 56:56.588
[DEREK]: So, your boy wasn't love the Clara.
56:57.209 --> 56:59.112
[DEREK]: While Clara was married to,
56:59.092 --> 57:01.474
[DEREK]: her previous husband back in the 40s.
57:02.595 --> 57:04.396
[DEREK]: He did move on to crimson kites.
57:04.436 --> 57:08.540
[DEREK]: We met her back in season two of the show when soldier boy was introduced as well.
57:08.640 --> 57:17.828
[DEREK]: So he did move on and then didn't realize the Clara had come back and take it on the main storm front and joined up with homeland or while he was well, he was eight.
57:17.928 --> 57:28.997
[DEREK]: So just interesting that there's that little extra connection with what bumpsite's saying to him, maybe if he'd known that Clara was out there all that
57:29.365 --> 57:35.897
[DEREK]: back to her rather than rather than going off to come to Katas which we may be we'll find out something about that next up.
57:35.917 --> 57:36.438
[DEREK]: Yeah, amazing.
57:36.659 --> 57:37.380
[DEREK]: Yeah.
57:37.400 --> 57:38.663
[DEREK]: Or maybe with Vault Rising?
57:38.823 --> 57:39.765
[DEREK]: Probably in Vault Rising, yeah.
57:39.785 --> 57:39.945
[DEREK]: Yes.
57:40.145 --> 57:41.067
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
57:41.087 --> 57:44.614
[DEREK]: But yeah, Harrison, they're coming the same track as you there as well.
57:45.195 --> 57:50.866
[DEREK]: Vault Rising, I mean, treat with boss I would like a little bit more in the boys show but still have two more episodes to go.
57:50.946 --> 57:51.627
[DEREK]: So why not?
57:51.607 --> 57:52.688
[JOHN]: Yeah, yeah, great stuff.
57:52.828 --> 57:56.091
[JOHN]: Thanks Harrison, and thanks for your message about my theory as well.
57:56.212 --> 57:57.072
[JOHN]: It was very nice.
57:57.092 --> 57:58.314
[JOHN]: Absolutely, absolutely.
57:58.874 --> 58:01.677
[DEREK]: We have an email in from Coffee and Vodka on this episode.
58:01.697 --> 58:13.388
[DEREK]: He says greetings fellow godmodded defenders, the definition of a proper episode full ever moving the plot along tense, funny, satisfying and with one hell of a cliffhanger who had money on the deep-taking at Black Noir.
58:13.729 --> 58:16.772
[DEREK]: I didn't think he had it in him, especially after seeing that popcorn book.
58:16.792 --> 58:17.192
[DEREK]: This
58:17.172 --> 58:24.000
[DEREK]: Speaking of nice to see the legend again, a creepier class act, there's never been, and nice you're still to see it make it out alive.
58:24.381 --> 58:31.870
[DEREK]: As much as we expected to see sage visit the boys to get the Armageddon Bowl rolling faster, it was surprised to see her get something this wrong.
58:32.250 --> 58:36.475
[DEREK]: As for homelanders new status, butcher described it best with a single word, run.
58:37.076 --> 58:40.480
[DEREK]: So much more than I haven't mentioned, but again the mark of a fully packed
58:40.460 --> 58:41.441
[DEREK]: proper episode.
58:41.762 --> 58:45.907
[DEREK]: Can't wait for next week with only a couple of episodes of a single season left.
58:46.247 --> 58:47.468
[DEREK]: Start to feel a bit empty.
58:47.528 --> 58:47.949
[DEREK]: Nasty?
58:49.371 --> 58:57.240
[DEREK]: Five pervy curvy clothes, method of diets, and botched bunker retirement plans out of five piece of take care, coffee and vodka.
58:58.822 --> 59:00.304
[DEREK]: Yes, thanks, coffee and vodka.
59:00.324 --> 59:03.868
[DEREK]: Are we feeling a bit empty, Nasty as we get to the end of these shows, John?
59:03.848 --> 59:05.310
[JOHN]: Not necessarily, no.
59:05.831 --> 59:13.524
[JOHN]: I mean, yes, it's always sad to see a show kind of move towards its final moment.
59:13.584 --> 59:15.627
[JOHN]: So anyway, it's been as good as it has.
59:15.667 --> 59:16.328
[JOHN]: Yeah.
59:16.348 --> 59:22.819
[JOHN]: And but equally, I think the balance is getting just about right do do a spin off.
59:22.799 --> 59:27.227
[JOHN]: You know, otherwise it becomes fall in crest or Dallas or whatever.
59:27.247 --> 59:27.768
[JOHN]: Proper soap opera.
59:27.788 --> 59:28.629
[JOHN]: You know what I mean?
59:28.650 --> 59:30.312
[JOHN]: Like I think ultimately.
59:30.333 --> 59:30.473
[JOHN]: Yeah.
59:30.833 --> 59:35.261
[JOHN]: And certainly this short reform or make it a soap then.
59:35.342 --> 59:35.762
[JOHN]: Yeah.
59:36.243 --> 59:37.986
[DEREK]: And it's funny even at the moment.
59:38.006 --> 59:41.753
[DEREK]: Like we've just finished invincible Daredevil finished last week.
59:41.733 --> 59:50.551
[DEREK]: We have the boys finishing in a couple of weeks time, but we also have the Punisher one shot, we also have good opens, and we also have, by and a wire coming up on Prime Video.
59:50.772 --> 59:53.758
[DEREK]: So lots and lots of other stuff comes in to take the place of shows.
59:54.720 --> 01:00:00.552
[DEREK]: I'm really glad we've got another couple of episodes of the boys left to go, but we won't be empty nesty for a very long time.
01:00:00.532 --> 01:00:06.668
[DEREK]: Yeah, absolutely absolutely yeah, I think we're all a bit surprised that the deep took a black nowhere as well at coffee vodka.
01:00:06.688 --> 01:00:12.684
[DEREK]: That was a real a real surprise, but I wonder how it's going to impact him for the next couple of episodes because yeah, I don't think he did have it anymore.
01:00:12.704 --> 01:00:17.055
[DEREK]: I think he just literally was going this guy killed 1.4 billion fish.
01:00:17.035 --> 01:00:38.892
[JOHN]: Yeah, which is quite a fish holocaust and I am totally with either coffee and vodka around Sort of you know how good of an episode structure and art this is you know moving along really good stuff coming out of it With as you say that intriguing sort of cliffhanger of what's gonna happen next exactly
01:00:38.872 --> 01:01:08.237
[JOHN]: So yeah, thanks so much, Coffin vodka, and over on Discord, we've got some feedback from Dr. Bob, who says Shiva's and Gasp's throughout this episode, sage getting it wrong, home and missing his need for help, and the bollo of bollocks where my particular high points along with stream of
01:01:08.217 --> 01:01:12.385
[JOHN]: Now, don't know how the regenerator's homeland is going to get taken down.
01:01:12.726 --> 01:01:17.496
[JOHN]: Could it be that soldier boy recognised as era and blasts him to humanity?
01:01:17.516 --> 01:01:21.744
[JOHN]: Well, that is certainly one way.
01:01:21.804 --> 01:01:23.728
[JOHN]: Or equally,
01:01:23.708 --> 01:01:34.940
[JOHN]: If he doesn't, it would be maybe one of the former students of Godju who can take and the power and replicate it.
01:01:36.462 --> 01:01:47.033
[JOHN]: So hopefully enough time so she could effectively stand in for soldier boy rather than going after home under and depowering him directly.
01:01:47.013 --> 01:01:54.203
[JOHN]: There's a few maybe permutations here in how home under could meet his end.
01:01:54.544 --> 01:01:54.964
[JOHN]: Yeah.
01:01:55.185 --> 01:01:55.545
[DEREK]: Absolutely.
01:01:56.046 --> 01:01:56.386
[DEREK]: Great stuff.
01:01:56.406 --> 01:01:56.867
[DEREK]: Thanks, Dr. Bob.
01:01:57.448 --> 01:02:02.235
[DEREK]: Also on Discord, we have a feedback from Rora, who says, Holy Fiddlesticks.
01:02:02.335 --> 01:02:04.538
[DEREK]: I haven't heard any other opinions on this episode yet.
01:02:04.558 --> 01:02:07.001
[DEREK]: But I think that this episode is the best of the entire series.
01:02:07.041 --> 01:02:08.984
[DEREK]: So far, at least still two more to go.
01:02:09.024 --> 01:02:14.472
[DEREK]: It's a race between who gets the V1 and now Blade Spray branded virus.
01:02:14.452 --> 01:02:19.982
[DEREK]: And always knew that Sister Sage would switch sides, but I adore the jumpscare, she gave them when she did.
01:02:20.443 --> 01:02:30.402
[DEREK]: Black Noir are screwing the deep so badly that it decided to finally make a decision for himself that didn't benefit homelander, or IP Justin, and just like last episode, the boys knows
01:02:30.382 --> 01:02:39.251
[DEREK]: just how to build that silent tension to make you truly dread what homelanders thinking about doing plus he finally got to meet someone who isn't scared of him.
01:02:39.652 --> 01:02:47.801
[DEREK]: My only critique of this episode and unfortunately is big one is that they spoiled the homelanders going to be the one to get the v1 and the trailer for the season.
01:02:48.101 --> 01:02:50.323
[DEREK]: Like how else was he going to get the big laser eyes?
01:02:50.383 --> 01:02:59.393
[DEREK]: Guys, I get but that's a money shop but maybe don't put the result from the most hyped-up scene so far the final season in the video package before any of the episodes even come out.
01:02:59.373 --> 01:03:07.144
[DEREK]: Okay, around over, even with that massive thing that bugs me infinitely, it's still a 10, she peed on me once, out of 10 for me.
01:03:07.805 --> 01:03:11.290
[DEREK]: Another great slide from the legend.
01:03:11.891 --> 01:03:12.852
[DEREK]: Thanks, Rory, for that.
01:03:13.313 --> 01:03:19.862
[DEREK]: Yeah, I think I probably ignored that in the trailer with how now they're getting the massive laser eyes because I maybe thought,
01:03:19.842 --> 01:03:29.832
[DEREK]: If I, I don't know, maybe if I'm considering it, I might have thought that he was exploding from getting taken dead, power and sight and was coming out and he was exploding.
01:03:29.892 --> 01:03:40.662
[DEREK]: So yeah, it's a shame they do have to make these trailers and they try not to, I hope we try not to spoil them like the opposite of what Daredevil born again is where they spoiled every single episode just before they get made.
01:03:40.763 --> 01:03:45.327
[DEREK]: So it's a shame if you sell that in the trailer and you exactly what's going to happen because I didn't.
01:03:45.307 --> 01:03:57.869
[JOHN]: No, to be honest, having not read the comics or whatever, I wasn't, I wouldn't have made that connection but certainly, I think moving into this, you are kind of going, oh, where is that shot?
01:03:58.429 --> 01:04:07.024
[JOHN]: You know, I think the one shot from the trailer that I found really intriguing was home and are beating someone up.
01:04:07.185 --> 01:04:09.829
[JOHN]: That ended off thing is some.
01:04:09.809 --> 01:04:10.170
[JOHN]: Yeah.
01:04:10.951 --> 01:04:13.915
[JOHN]: And when I saw it, it was like, oh, okay, that's from the trailer.
01:04:14.215 --> 01:04:17.820
[JOHN]: But that was the one that I was like, oh, I wonder who that is.
01:04:17.901 --> 01:04:19.463
[JOHN]: The laser eyes going in.
01:04:19.843 --> 01:04:23.489
[JOHN]: So until it actually happens, it literally wasn't spoiled.
01:04:23.629 --> 01:04:30.419
[JOHN]: But I do know what you mean, Laura, when you say, you know, it can get spoiled because you kind of looking at it.
01:04:30.439 --> 01:04:31.480
[JOHN]: So you would kind of
01:04:31.460 --> 01:04:37.829
[JOHN]: You kind of looking for it and you start to make OBS and comments and theories in your head.
01:04:37.849 --> 01:04:39.752
[JOHN]: I think that's a valid one to have.
01:04:39.912 --> 01:04:43.096
[DEREK]: Absolutely, and that's why we no longer do any kind of trailer breakdowns.
01:04:43.136 --> 01:04:46.962
[DEREK]: When we start a day, we're recovering just, you know, Gotham and Daredevil right back in the day.
01:04:47.022 --> 01:04:49.485
[DEREK]: We used to go through every trailer and talk about what it was.
01:04:49.465 --> 01:04:55.135
[DEREK]: What it made us think was coming up and now they are so spoiled or filled that I can ruin an entire series.
01:04:55.155 --> 01:05:08.638
[DEREK]: So I watched the trailer once just for the vibes of this basically and then I move on to just watching the series because otherwise you're just going to get things going for you because you can pretty easily work out from a trailer what is coming up in the series.
01:05:08.618 --> 01:05:09.038
[JOHN]: Yeah.
01:05:09.059 --> 01:05:09.719
[JOHN]: Thanks, Aurora.
01:05:09.739 --> 01:05:10.060
[JOHN]: Absolutely.
01:05:10.100 --> 01:05:11.001
[JOHN]: Thanks, Aurora.
01:05:11.021 --> 01:05:14.024
[JOHN]: Also on Discord, Joe Herb says the legend lives.
01:05:14.124 --> 01:05:17.909
[JOHN]: Paul Ryzer was grace in this completely agreed Joe.
01:05:18.309 --> 01:05:21.833
[JOHN]: And Jason B says, okay, I think I was wrong about everything.
01:05:22.213 --> 01:05:24.116
[JOHN]: We're sure Noah was going to kill deep.
01:05:24.616 --> 01:05:24.957
[JOHN]: Wrong.
01:05:25.397 --> 01:05:27.519
[JOHN]: Homeander wouldn't get the V1 wrong.
01:05:28.040 --> 01:05:31.504
[JOHN]: Social boy wouldn't let homeander get the V1 wrong.
01:05:31.484 --> 01:05:36.669
[JOHN]: Mother's milk was going to have a deal with another soups growing area weapon wrong.
01:05:38.751 --> 01:05:41.433
[DEREK]: Even though he was trying to set up a fillet yet.
01:05:41.453 --> 01:05:46.557
[JOHN]: Yeah, no, I think it's keeping us guessing for sure Jason V. And it's a good thing.
01:05:47.198 --> 01:05:57.808
[JOHN]: Yeah, so yeah, thanks so much Jason and Amanda on Discord says sage gets it wrong when true love is involved and logic cannot be applied.
01:05:58.248 --> 01:05:59.449
[JOHN]: What I wonder,
01:05:59.429 --> 01:06:02.932
[JOHN]: can soldier boy take the upgrade away like he did with bombsite.
01:06:03.493 --> 01:06:04.994
[JOHN]: Legend was great.
01:06:05.435 --> 01:06:08.818
[JOHN]: Homer just needs someone who is honest and not scared.
01:06:09.198 --> 01:06:12.782
[JOHN]: Maybe a retired suit period is not a threat like soldier boy.
01:06:13.262 --> 01:06:19.028
[JOHN]: But that's interesting actually, uh, me and uh, that maybe there's someone from his past.
01:06:19.048 --> 01:06:26.955
[JOHN]: I do think it is going to happen but technically it's possibly another route that Homer
01:06:26.935 --> 01:06:31.343
[JOHN]: I don't think that is going to happen, but you're right.
01:06:31.564 --> 01:06:34.769
[JOHN]: There is that kind of possibility, potentially.
01:06:35.571 --> 01:06:49.737
[JOHN]: I think the problem is he's surrounded himself with so many yes people that they're all equally as much as an effing white job as the legend described as.
01:06:49.717 --> 01:07:07.962
[DEREK]: Well, the fact that when he arrives to find the V1 and then start talking to the angel that gave him guidance saying, I did everything for you, I even gave up my son, why can't I just get the V1 that you promised me and then become a mortal like you promised me and that's when legends kind of look at how I'm going.
01:07:07.942 --> 01:07:10.125
[DEREK]: What is going on with this whacked up here?
01:07:10.145 --> 01:07:11.347
[DEREK]: Yeah, so he's lost it.
01:07:11.367 --> 01:07:11.668
[DEREK]: He's done.
01:07:12.008 --> 01:07:13.530
[DEREK]: He's gone beyond the bands as well.
01:07:13.590 --> 01:07:15.193
[DEREK]: So uh, but yeah, I think you're right.
01:07:15.213 --> 01:07:19.519
[DEREK]: Maybe there's maybe there's a possibility that somebody else said there could give them the guidance that he needs.
01:07:19.860 --> 01:07:24.367
[DEREK]: But maybe that should have happened back in season one or season two, um, you know, five, ten years ago.
01:07:24.387 --> 01:07:29.715
[DEREK]: There might have been somebody that could have given the guidance that the legend is able to give him here in this episode.
01:07:30.095 --> 01:07:30.917
[DEREK]: Yeah, absolutely.
01:07:31.578 --> 01:07:36.565
[DEREK]: Thanks,
01:07:37.726 --> 01:07:39.308
[STEVE]: Hello TV podcast industries.
01:07:39.808 --> 01:07:53.564
[STEVE]: This is Steve, where I guess fellow defenders also I should say Anyway, this is Steve and I just wanted to say just watch the latest episode of the boys The heavens me fall or something like that, but wow Some unexpected things.
01:07:53.584 --> 01:08:03.295
[STEVE]: I mean, I know you you all talked about Nor possibly being the one to kill the deep and it goes the other way and then soldier boy giving the v1 to
01:08:03.275 --> 01:08:05.399
[STEVE]: It's a home lander there at the end.
01:08:06.380 --> 01:08:11.269
[STEVE]: Wow, just, and again, we get more irreverent super heroes.
01:08:11.629 --> 01:08:13.533
[STEVE]: What is there always like something to do with someone?
01:08:13.873 --> 01:08:16.919
[STEVE]: It's got to be, you know, can I say that on your podcast?
01:08:16.939 --> 01:08:18.261
[STEVE]: No, I hope so.
01:08:18.802 --> 01:08:20.745
[STEVE]: But it's just, it's just weird.
01:08:21.386 --> 01:08:22.448
[STEVE]: That was,
01:08:22.428 --> 01:08:48.587
[STEVE]: could of course that fight in the in the the Vaught homes was was amazing and funny and just just as as as cruel as ever this show is so we'll have to see how we go from here what's going what is going to be the results of homeland or getting the v1 and he melted it into himself is that what he did it was it was very weird I was wondering how he was going to
01:08:48.567 --> 01:08:52.071
[STEVE]: get the V1 into his system, you know, the needle might break or something.
01:08:52.111 --> 01:08:54.835
[STEVE]: How would he be able to do it or drink it or I don't know.
01:08:55.175 --> 01:09:04.346
[STEVE]: So anyway, can't wait to hear you guys talk about it and here in a few weeks after the show ends, I think Mark and I are going to do a couple of podcasts about it as well.
01:09:04.467 --> 01:09:06.189
[STEVE]: So talk to you later.
01:09:06.209 --> 01:09:07.050
[DEREK]: Access stuff Steve.
01:09:07.070 --> 01:09:11.335
[DEREK]: Yeah, look forward to hearing how you guys enjoy the show at the end of the season.
01:09:11.669 --> 01:09:19.381
[DEREK]: What Solge Boy did was he cut into his arm using his laser eyes so that he could get the V1 past the impenetrable skin effectively.
01:09:19.421 --> 01:09:23.667
[DEREK]: So he can cut into his own body using his laser eyes.
01:09:24.348 --> 01:09:24.949
[JOHN]: Yeah.
01:09:25.089 --> 01:09:26.071
[JOHN]: Great stuff, Steve.
01:09:26.111 --> 01:09:27.453
[JOHN]: Thanks for the comments.
01:09:27.613 --> 01:09:33.822
[JOHN]: No, you know how I feel about what I can't say on the podcast, because I do think technically we can.
01:09:33.842 --> 01:09:38.970
[JOHN]: Nope, but you may have been quick enough to get it past that, no, hey, Derek shaking his head.
01:09:39.150 --> 01:09:39.651
[JOHN]: No.
01:09:39.631 --> 01:10:06.887
[DEREK]: um we'll have a bleed but why does yes why why is it always men's body parts that the jokes are related to um because they're infinitely hilarious uh and there's lots of men uh behind the scenes on the shows the thing that they're infinitely hilarious to talk about um very low bowls for an old man as a joke and uh yeah let's try and being people with a uh 15 foot penis and stuff you know but infinitely hilarious to show on screen isn't that I think so.
01:10:06.867 --> 01:10:12.156
[DEREK]: Thanks so much Steve for your voice well, great to hear from you as always.
01:10:12.738 --> 01:10:21.814
[DEREK]: Over on Facebook, Mary Ackel says, I loved the return of the legend, Polarizer was great seeing the senior super retirement home at some interesting flair to the episode.
01:10:22.195 --> 01:10:25.821
[DEREK]: Sister Sage may be brilliant, but she clearly doesn't understand so much about it.
01:10:25.801 --> 01:10:28.084
[DEREK]: And she could make her own version of V1, right?
01:10:28.545 --> 01:10:30.608
[DEREK]: Are we going to see any Gen V characters at all?
01:10:30.748 --> 01:10:32.812
[DEREK]: It seems less likely every single episode.
01:10:33.152 --> 01:10:37.198
[DEREK]: Also, as a veterinarian, I agree with the user Proxide's safe terror last episode.
01:10:37.479 --> 01:10:40.944
[DEREK]: If the boys call that ask me what to do, I would have said Proxide until he pukes.
01:10:41.845 --> 01:10:43.788
[DEREK]: Keep up the good work, love the podcast.
01:10:44.149 --> 01:10:44.549
[DEREK]: Thanks, Bree.
01:10:45.110 --> 01:10:45.851
[DEREK]: Yeah, that's interesting.
01:10:45.871 --> 01:10:49.817
[DEREK]: So if the dog ever eats chocolate, don't have to get some Proxide.
01:10:49.797 --> 01:10:50.419
[JOHN]: Absolutely.
01:10:50.459 --> 01:10:52.905
[JOHN]: I'm wondering if that works on all pets.
01:10:53.426 --> 01:10:54.810
[DEREK]: Do not give me peroxide if I eat chocolate, John.
01:10:54.850 --> 01:10:55.130
[DEREK]: No, I won't.
01:10:55.151 --> 01:10:55.572
[DEREK]: And I'm not your pet.
01:10:55.592 --> 01:11:06.439
[DEREK]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
01:11:06.419 --> 01:11:19.338
[DEREK]: He's a white job of a different level with homelander, as she says, his children's book is wide open for her to read exactly what is going to do step by step, but with soldier boy, she just can't tell what he's going to do in here.
01:11:19.638 --> 01:11:21.381
[DEREK]: He makes a decision based on love.
01:11:22.122 --> 01:11:25.386
[DEREK]: That is so outside of the realm of what she thought he was going to do.
01:11:26.448 --> 01:11:27.870
[DEREK]: She's completely taken it back, right?
01:11:28.222 --> 01:11:29.243
[JOHN]: Yeah, absolutely.
01:11:30.065 --> 01:11:36.614
[JOHN]: And I think Murray, as you and many others, I think seeing the return of Paul Riser, yeah, it's so good.
01:11:36.794 --> 01:11:42.763
[JOHN]: It's really interesting seeing that as a common sort of thread through the feedback that it is so good.
01:11:42.783 --> 01:11:44.325
[JOHN]: And he was just so good.
01:11:44.406 --> 01:11:44.786
[DEREK]: I'm thrilled.
01:11:44.806 --> 01:11:45.928
[DEREK]: You were a top quality.
01:11:46.028 --> 01:11:49.934
[DEREK]: Yeah, I'm sure I've mentioned this in the podcast before that my cousin Phil, who was very close to her.
01:11:50.054 --> 01:11:50.955
[DEREK]: I'm very close to
01:11:50.935 --> 01:11:59.944
[DEREK]: when he saw Paul Riser start to get famous after his part in Aliens, he couldn't watch anything that Paul Riser ever did after that because he was such a turd coach.
01:12:00.725 --> 01:12:02.527
[DEREK]: In Aliens that he just couldn't trust him.
01:12:02.847 --> 01:12:08.933
[DEREK]: So when he was on TV, what mad about you, the comedy show that he was on for like eight or nine years, my cousin Phil turned it off.
01:12:09.354 --> 01:12:12.397
[DEREK]: Every single episode he just couldn't sit down and take it.
01:12:12.417 --> 01:12:16.761
[DEREK]: And watch this guy being nice in a normal suburban setting.
01:12:16.781 --> 01:12:20.605
[DEREK]: He was just like this guy
01:12:20.585 --> 01:12:21.247
