[00:00:00] This is TV Podcast Industries with our 2022 TV and Movie Wrap-Up and our 2023 Preview.

[00:00:23] Welcome back fellow defenders, industrialists, swelters, witchers, boys and girls, alumni,

[00:00:27] ultimates and governors to our annual recap for 2022 and our 2023 Preview Podcast on TV

[00:00:34] Podcast Industries. There's lots of words in there and lots to talk about.

[00:00:38] As we write this year, I'm one of your host Derrick.

[00:00:40] Hello there fellow everything. I am one of your other hosts John.

[00:00:45] Yes and randomly out this trio of basically we talk about everything people I am Chris.

[00:00:53] Yes we do. This year we have achieved a hundred episodes of the podcast within a year.

[00:01:00] I was looking back over the last couple of years at doing these recap podcasts.

[00:01:03] Last year we did 101 and that was the most podcast we did.

[00:01:06] And that was in lockdown for all of us.

[00:01:09] Some of the months.

[00:01:10] Yeah, still in lockdown and this year we've done a hundred episodes of the podcast.

[00:01:13] This is officially the hundreds episode of the year.

[00:01:16] We've covered loads of stuff this year starting with Wheeler Time and the Witcher which

[00:01:21] we closed out at the beginning of the year. We did the boys diabolical, Picard, Moonnice,

[00:01:26] boys season three, Miss Marvel, on Brely Academy season three, The Sandman,

[00:01:31] Sheel Caterlite Law, Riggs Appar, Pettiworth season three and recently you probably just heard

[00:01:37] the first two episodes of our Witcher Blood, Origin coverage. It's all the TV shows we did last

[00:01:42] year. Lots and lots there. We also did some movies last year.

[00:01:46] We certainly did. We started off in March with the Batman.

[00:01:51] We of course went into lovely the month of madness in May with Dr Strange in the multiverse

[00:01:57] of madness. We got all lovie dovie in July with Thor, Love and Thunder.

[00:02:03] We howled away at the moon in October with Werewolf by night.

[00:02:08] We went on an epic journey into Africa and under the sea in Wakanda forever in November.

[00:02:18] And of course leading up to the holidays over Christmas and the festive period.

[00:02:25] In December we took a look at the Guardian's holiday special.

[00:02:30] Yes, we did. I bet you wish Adam started the descriptions on those, John.

[00:02:34] Yeah.

[00:02:34] Very good off. Very good off the cuff though.

[00:02:36] Well done.

[00:02:37] Well done.

[00:02:38] So what we do each year when we get to the end of the year, if you haven't joined us

[00:02:42] on the podcast for our wrap up, we discuss the shows we talked about during the year.

[00:02:46] Which ones we liked? We don't get into too much spoilers about them but we may have some minor

[00:02:51] spoilers for some of the shows you may not have seen but we're going to kind of break the

[00:02:55] magenta groups. I did this on our Facebook group over at facebook.com slash groups slash tv

[00:03:01] podcast industries through and out to our wonderful fellow defenders and fellow listeners over there

[00:03:06] to ask what their thoughts about the best shows we covered. I broke the met into a couple of groups

[00:03:09] to start it off with our best Marvel show because as you could probably tell there,

[00:03:12] we did a lot of Marvel shows this year covered three Marvel shows throughout this year.

[00:03:18] We did Moon Knight, Miss Marvel and Sheh Hulk so we want to take which one. Chris do you want

[00:03:24] to kick us off? Which one of those do you want to talk about?

[00:03:27] I'm going to go Sheh Hulk. For me, it was just a breath of fresh air. It was just so unique.

[00:03:42] It was not what we were expecting but like it was a wholehearted 20 to 30 minute episode.

[00:03:51] You see somewhere up 22 plus episode comedy show set in the MCU with fourth wall breaking

[00:04:01] fifth wall seventh wall, eighth wall breaking 12th dimensional breaking universe break towards the end

[00:04:10] and cameo's galore. Mr. Immortal, the titanium, good old Charlie Cox is there like the proper

[00:04:20] and let us not forget Leap Rock that's like he needed his lily pads and it was just fun.

[00:04:27] That was it. This year has been outside the real world a bit of a bucket of hell sometimes depending

[00:04:33] on the news so little shows like this which are just gems diamonds in the rough that are just

[00:04:40] fun, comedic and no self referential and no what they are it was just brilliant.

[00:04:46] Definitely interestingly as well we're talking about breaking the fourth wall. I recently watched

[00:04:53] Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and I noticed that the scarlet which had a

[00:05:00] fourth wall breaking moment. Yes she did. When she's doing the dream magic in order to get into

[00:05:09] one of the other universes, it's just a look it's not a talk to but it is a definite look into

[00:05:17] the camera which I found quite interesting with sheholt this year which was phenomenal as well.

[00:05:23] Definitely love that and for sure. Yeah absolutely sheholt was just such a revelation of a show we

[00:05:30] enjoyed every episode of the show. I looked forward to that half-hour of fun every week and they really

[00:05:34] kept that pace going throughout the series just something to have fun with every week and enjoy

[00:05:39] every week so yeah one of our great shows for the year I think definitely. I'm going to talk about

[00:05:44] Miss Marvel a completely different show for us that we were definitely not the target audience

[00:05:49] for this show other than being massive Marvel fans but I think they really did a good job of

[00:05:53] bringing Kamala Khan and her family and the relationships built around her into this world

[00:05:59] of Marvel into this Disney Plus show was such an enjoyable show to learn about a new community

[00:06:04] and new culture especially in the MCU which has been traditionally quite similar type of people that

[00:06:10] have been in the universe and just great to have this completely different family in the MCU.

[00:06:17] Really enjoyed it. Definitely and I love Miss Marvel because she went right up there with

[00:06:24] Spiderman for me and just that community you know neighborhood hero but one born of not with

[00:06:34] tragedy through the death of Uncle Ben but just one with just the family and the community so

[00:06:44] I really really enjoyed it and got me looking at a lot of Miss Marvel comics so this I didn't

[00:06:51] haven't really read Miss Marvel at all up until that point so it really got me into the

[00:06:56] looking out and sourcing out the comics but also I just love the character and I love I do feel

[00:07:04] it's an absolute modern day Spiderman actually yeah and in that sense. Can we really do that?

[00:07:11] Yeah and it's a character I'm really hoping we're going to see more of you're not we're not

[00:07:14] really too sure yet how the Disney Plus shows are going to integrate and especially with their

[00:07:19] background characters or the side characters we know we're going to see Kamala Khan back in the Marvel's

[00:07:24] next year alongside the other big Marvel characters which we will talk about a little bit later on

[00:07:29] but we don't really know what's going to happen with all the side characters we kind of while

[00:07:33] we were discussing it on the show we were saying how much we liked some of the other side characters

[00:07:36] that were in that show and hoping we're going to see them in future projects that are in

[00:07:41] Disney Plus and in future projects that are in the MCU but there's been so many great side characters

[00:07:46] in even these shows this year and that not everybody's going to get featured in the future we

[00:07:50] may have moments with them and I hope we do especially with this cast it thought it was a really

[00:07:54] good ensemble cast and particularly around such a brand new character to a lot of people yeah and

[00:08:00] that kind of really rolls into the third and final one which I think John I'm assuming you want

[00:08:05] to kind of kick off yeah I mean for me Moon Knight was right in my wheelhouse love the character

[00:08:14] and I mean I think it's the first time I've given every episode a five out of five and across

[00:08:21] the whole season I just everything about it in terms of the story and just a lot how they dealt

[00:08:32] with the DID of Steven and Mark and I loved getting the feedback in from fellow defenders around

[00:08:39] that because you know as we said right from the outset it's not something we particularly know

[00:08:46] anything about in any great detail so that was really awesome though that interaction with our

[00:08:52] fellow defenders and I just the whole ancient Egypt thing is you know again is in my wheelhouse I

[00:09:00] loved how it linked in with all of that so yeah the fight sequences the action sequences certainly

[00:09:08] where you get got that jarring as Steven became Martin just really really good so and great choices

[00:09:17] made in that show definitely I'm really have to give it up for Oscar Isaac's performance in the

[00:09:23] central role where he made two completely distinct characters and then a third at the end of the

[00:09:27] season you know we really got to see him showcase him as a really leading character it was great to

[00:09:35] see it on screen this was the one that was voted as our number one at Marvel show of the year 65%

[00:09:41] of the votes came in for Moonnight so I think maybe into the Moonnight podcast may have done a lot

[00:09:49] of clicking I think no right into the night wouldn't be doing all that no it's all just about

[00:09:54] Jerry mandering that's all he is he's the one that probably brought a lot of the Moonnight fans

[00:10:00] over to TV podcast industries during during the time of Moonnight so that's probably why it's

[00:10:05] over airing to them but yeah see do get a really good response overall and again Moonnight not

[00:10:10] very well known character it's someone that because of Ray and his podcast really he has become

[00:10:16] such a big character for us over the last couple of years we've all been following on the comics a

[00:10:20] lot more than we would have been if we didn't if it wasn't for Ray and we were delighted to have Ray

[00:10:24] on with us for our final podcast on Moonnight at the end of the end of this run yeah I know for

[00:10:31] me and it's very much similar to Miss Marvel which is we don't know when we're well we know when

[00:10:36] we're seeing Miss Marvel like Kamala Khan will be back in the Marvels of the film but Moonnight

[00:10:42] is still a question mark like season two has not been confirmed yeah that's true we do not have a

[00:10:48] time when Mark's back to will be back in a it's like he's not confirmed for Mangon Mania or

[00:10:55] secret invasion there is no it's similar to Hawkeye yeah it is the only bit where I'm like

[00:11:02] I kind I kind of want to know a bit more of the roadmap like we have names of films

[00:11:08] yeah for the overall MCU but not Moonnight will return in yeah bye bye bye that's true

[00:11:16] and I think the cause of concern I have more for Moonnight at least with Kamala Khan with

[00:11:21] Miss Marvel we have a confirmed point when she's gonna come in with Moonnight not only do we not

[00:11:26] have a confirmed point the show itself is very standalone there were some references to the to the

[00:11:31] blip there were some references to what was going on and I fucking the winter soldier but very

[00:11:36] very minor there were no crossover characters that appeared in the show or anything like that so

[00:11:41] if we do have them back they're gonna have to really follow up on that closing post credit scene

[00:11:46] as opposed to him just appearing somewhere I'm always excited if we get a crossover to Kami

[00:11:50] over character in the future you know there's there's the news in the universe we can have that

[00:11:54] not that will be exciting at itself definitely I'd love to ask I mean currently as well I think

[00:11:58] you know as you said there's that kind of link to um Madrepo possibly but the other kind of

[00:12:07] ecosystem that's out there I think at the moment is Werewolf by Night and I guess with the black

[00:12:14] night from um the eternal there were there could be that fit um and so on so I I'm just wondering

[00:12:25] you know with Agatha Hartness and so on you know how far will they push that whole um sort of

[00:12:33] um supernatural magical um area of Marvel because it do you know with Dr. Strange Werewolf by Night

[00:12:44] Wander Agatha and Moon Knight in that sense I think there's certainly something there that's

[00:12:53] a bit more sort of meaty way could but nonetheless nothing as such has been um

[00:13:02] confirmed confirmed yeah yeah and I look we know Oscar Isaac the lead for Moon Knight is a very

[00:13:10] in demand actor he's in Spider-Man across the spiderverse next year so obviously that would be one

[00:13:16] of the big pieces but that was recorded voice recorded a while ago and according to IMDB which

[00:13:23] is never 100% accurate he's got a lot of pre-production stuff but just nothing is like confirmed that's

[00:13:29] been filmed or next like release next year or anything like that so very much it's it's gonna be

[00:13:35] I say it's gonna come down to Marvel Kevin Feige the the machine that is Kevin Feige or a K E

[00:13:45] V I N um backing up the money truck and trying to just lock him down for okay we want you here's

[00:13:52] your here's your season two and here's your next up because he said he was enjoying he did say

[00:13:57] he enjoyed it he did say very much enjoyed like the the universe the actor character in the production

[00:14:05] there was no kind of bad blood or anything like that so it's just gonna be interested to see

[00:14:09] what happens next and it's a question that's imposed at almost every single convention appearance

[00:14:14] that he's had and you know sometimes these things are conflicting because there's nothing signed

[00:14:17] but that's that's what we do know there's absolutely nothing signed for a future appearance of

[00:14:22] Oscar Isaac he would not be able to break the contract that he has with Marvel by announcing something

[00:14:27] before they want to announce it of course so whatever he said all we can take from it is he enjoyed

[00:14:32] the experience he'd love to come back it's a lot of work for him he did a lot of worth of behind

[00:14:37] scene stuff on moon night where they talked about how much work he was doing to keep focused on

[00:14:43] the characters he was playing at each time you know playing one character for three months and then

[00:14:47] following up and playing completely different character sometimes in the same scene he'd recorded

[00:14:51] three months beforehand that kind of stuff a lot to do so yeah and so if he's coming back he wants

[00:14:56] to dead it wants to be dedicated to it and I do think it'll be a little bit of time before we see

[00:15:02] at least another series if that's the way they're gonna go but I do hope we're gonna see him back

[00:15:06] them and really really good but as you mentioned there's lots of possibilities in the world of

[00:15:12] Marvel because the world has been expanding especially in the movies for last year so let's go

[00:15:16] on to our next section what's the best movie or special presentation because we had a few of those

[00:15:21] last year as well and what movie or special presentation do you guys want to talk about what's your

[00:15:26] first one that pops into your head from this year well it would have to be docks strange

[00:15:34] in the multiverse of madness which also topped our poll I can also say I did not click it multiple

[00:15:40] times I was a Jerry Amanda either so and almost 50% I know I was really surprised at that and I think

[00:15:49] that's why I went back and rewatched it and there are absolutely just some fantastic Sam

[00:15:58] Remy stuff in here yeah as I say I mean I'm more than I had spotted to begin with

[00:16:04] the just really really good camera directing touches here which I guess makes it

[00:16:13] something different and connects certainly with some Remy fans yeah and but also it was that

[00:16:22] it just went wooosh straight into it I know there was criticism of that at you know from certain

[00:16:28] courses at the time but it was just that event piece and it just it brought you in and then

[00:16:36] it pommled you with that movie not even that it went too fast for me or anything like that it

[00:16:42] just was that movie back to the end there it was right to the end yeah and to bring on board our

[00:16:50] listeners who may not be aware we should we should mention it regularly we do mention it regularly

[00:16:54] John is pretty much our doctor strange fan so what we said before we recorded our podcast and

[00:16:59] what we mentioned on the Dr. Strange multiverse madness podcast was what we had wanted going into

[00:17:06] was Dr. Strange to the second movie of Dr. Strange based around Dr. Strange that was our expectation I

[00:17:12] do think and you know we try to avoid the negative side of fandom everything's hated no matter how

[00:17:18] big it is and the bigger it is you'll find more people to hate it so I'm not going to get involved

[00:17:22] in that discussion but I do think if your expectation was you were gonna go in there and you're

[00:17:26] gonna see you know a million different versions of every single Marvel comic book character you could

[00:17:31] only be disappointed by that and the fact that myself and John particularly went in looking for

[00:17:36] Dr. Strange 2 we got a movie which is very similar in in style or in character to the Dr. Strange

[00:17:44] character and directed by Sam Raimi one of our favorite directors so I know we came out of it with a

[00:17:49] much more positive opinion than somebody that would have gone in hoping for this Avengers level movie

[00:17:55] with special appearances all over the place but there are some massive moments for those people as

[00:18:00] well the introduction of the Illuminati in that movie is a massive moment seeing characters brought

[00:18:09] to life for the first time in the MCU no matter what happened to them afterwards was a massive moment

[00:18:15] where I remember gasps in the audience when we saw this I know yeah having the meat and to

[00:18:20] veg of the Scarlet Witch as well you know because you only appeared right at the end or of one

[00:18:27] division so having that I think you know certainly the presence of Wonder Scarlet Witch along with Dr.

[00:18:34] Strange it really helps because you know bringing these two massive magical forces of the comics

[00:18:43] together is a pretty big deal and it's really huge you have and I think you're right I think there

[00:18:50] was just no way you were going to be able to get sort of all this time in multiple universes but

[00:18:59] what they did was provide you with multiple strangers in a set you know which were

[00:19:05] focused around Wander's motivation and with America Shavez there yeah so America Shavez as

[00:19:16] we mentioned a little underserved but she's in the universe now yeah exactly what she's

[00:19:20] gratitude that can have a jumping off point now wherever they want to use it. It was great seeing

[00:19:25] Wong as the sorcerer's supreme as well so this I you know I really enjoyed this movie and I

[00:19:34] can never really just pick one and I have to say my other one for 2022 would be Wakanda forever

[00:19:43] and and that's my one primarily because as well of the introduction of Humor which I loved

[00:19:51] that whole thing yeah and you know it did the same thing in this movie that seeing Wakanda in the

[00:19:58] first movie did for me as well like it was just fantastic yeah absolutely love the movie I felt

[00:20:03] like we only just talked about it very recently though so I've known nothing new to share other than

[00:20:07] I really enjoyed this yeah no that's both of them were spectacular both of them were special

[00:20:14] it's the one thing I do love about Marvel like for I can find enjoyment in pretty much everything they do

[00:20:24] um like even if like there was definitely episodes and endings of like moon like the ending of

[00:20:30] moon night where we had two big CGI battles like yeah you can focus in on the detract attraction

[00:20:38] through that but actually the rest of it else was so good that it was worth it when you look at

[00:20:43] Wakanda forever yeah the like I could easily point out one of two things like I actually do

[00:20:48] know what I wish this but what they why in Google gave us was just like it was fantastic and when

[00:20:56] you think we got some made me back within the superhero show like he is now back and he's involved

[00:21:04] in evil dead again like we're going back to the 90s this rumor is that he might be back with

[00:21:08] Toby McGuire and Spider-Man like everything that was hip is hip again people but actually beyond that

[00:21:16] I even enjoyed Thor love and thunder was it the greatest of the year no wasn't and that's the same

[00:21:24] of what a lot of I listen to is also thought it got 4% where I'm Guardians of the Galaxy how

[00:21:30] these are got three so the second last but like I feel like that's partly my fault every

[00:21:36] only gets one choice so um so if people want liked more than one movie they can only choose one

[00:21:41] so yes fair it's partly my fault and also Guardians of the Galaxy only came out a couple of weeks ago

[00:21:45] and it's definitely a Christmas movie so people could be saving us for the families in random

[00:21:50] days so so I feel like Guardians of the Galaxy might have gotten a little lower hand in that one but

[00:21:56] I will agree with you Chris Thor love and thunder like a hundred times better than Ragnarok so

[00:22:01] so it was it's the second best Thor movie I think yeah the best screaming goat movie ever as well

[00:22:09] oh my gosh I still love that I still have that every now they just got it radically just to make

[00:22:15] me giggle um I want to bring in one thing which was a breath of fresh another breath of fresh

[00:22:21] air this year which was where we'll play nice yeah this had the potential of being the WTF

[00:22:29] special presentation like what is what is Marvel doing here why are we getting this like it's about

[00:22:36] Jack Russell literally a Jack Russell werewolf like oh my god is that mine thing wait he's a composer

[00:22:44] who's directing this like looking at all these parts you're like oh no this is oh no this might be

[00:22:52] bad oh no it's just a misstep that every little angry nerd on the internet wants Marvel to get

[00:22:58] I know this was spectacular in the music the composition the angles the lights the story

[00:23:09] the way it was shot the character and like literally this buddy cop between a werewolf and a man thing

[00:23:16] like to the point where I want to see a buddy cop show about werewolf by night and man thing yeah

[00:23:23] let's see more like literally I want that now because it was just fun yeah and it's another actor I never

[00:23:31] thought we'd see the MCU girl Garcia Bernal like he's such a well-respected actor who seems to always

[00:23:37] have something going on in his pockets of indie cinema and you can see why he would be really

[00:23:43] attracted to doing something really unusual within the Marvel universe you know what Michael

[00:23:48] Keonkin of delivered was so interesting in itself as he said Chris you know a composer who's worked

[00:23:52] in for so many movies got Oscars got Emmys for his music work I'm watching that documentary of

[00:23:58] how much time he used to spend as a kid making movies with his friends that being able to realize

[00:24:05] that in the MCU with his own special movie in this weird corner of the Marvel universe just

[00:24:11] worked so well I think all that added to my enjoyment of of where we'll find out as well absolutely

[00:24:16] you know it was an homage to those horror classics black and white horror classics of the 30s

[00:24:24] hammered out of horror exactly it was and as well the making of really just added a whole new layer

[00:24:33] to and to the actual special presentation because you really got to understand

[00:24:40] and the director here and what he likes and this is in his wheelhouse as a director you know

[00:24:48] even to the point where it's I'll do werewolf by night you know as a as a character

[00:24:54] I'll call it we obviously did cover the the Marvel assembled as part of our kind of shows as well

[00:25:02] director by night for me was the best of all of them yeah because I again I think most we all

[00:25:09] look kind of agreed on it in that it was the first time it was some of them had lent more into

[00:25:16] the marketing e kind of promo aspect and we understand we talked about multiple times why this was a

[00:25:24] making of the making of the director like this was a making of the composer slash like it was his

[00:25:31] story made by his brother it was just again different and that's everything about what the show was

[00:25:37] this special presentation was and I want more that's kind of where like I think a lot of people have

[00:25:43] said like we just want more of these kind of weird one-offs where they spend a bit of a couple of

[00:25:48] million and they just left this director or writing team go crazy definitely I mean that's

[00:25:54] what I just enjoyed about it was just like that fresh perspective like you say and the only thing

[00:26:01] was it could have been on Halloween I guess it felt weird it being I mean it was in the month of

[00:26:08] October but yeah yeah it was that was a strange because we were expecting that they were releasing

[00:26:13] something else on Halloween and was like no yeah yeah yeah focus focus too just setting up the

[00:26:20] the service for for people that are watching their 30 Halloween movies for Halloween I guess

[00:26:25] and one other massive movie that we talked about last year as well Matt Reeves the Batman

[00:26:31] starring Robert Pattinson and Paul Dano and Zoe Kravitz like what a way to come out of the

[00:26:37] gaze with a brand new version of Batman there's a lot of complaints that people have about

[00:26:40] man that is the only DC character that seems to guess a focus at all and it's like every three or

[00:26:46] four years we have a new Batman on in movies or a new animated Batman there's so many different

[00:26:52] versions of them what new story is there left to tell and finally we got the detective Batman

[00:26:58] the one that a lot of comic book fans had been waiting for and feel has been lacking in the past

[00:27:02] and play by Robert Pattinson you know like everybody forgets how to do it in action exactly

[00:27:07] sparkles bar and for some reason go back to him being a sparkly vampire in three crappy movies you

[00:27:12] know he's done some amazing films tenet was fantastic you did a great job in that he's done

[00:27:17] some amazing underground movies the lighthouses an excellent movie where he's he's won awards for

[00:27:23] that and then he comes back to the comic book universe to this nerd universe and marks a big stamp

[00:27:29] on a brand new version of the Batman I think there's so much to be said about that movie and what

[00:27:34] they delivered when there was so much against them from delivering and you know it's not again

[00:27:39] it's not a film for everybody but that in itself is its own charm they didn't go for the tentpole

[00:27:45] movie they went for a great version of the Batman that's it and I mean they have the riddler

[00:27:52] as it has his antagonist which I'm so good yeah I mean love the riddler as a character you had

[00:27:59] the penguin in there as well played by Colin Farrell and that's time we saw him in a comic book

[00:28:05] movie it was as bold as I exactly they're interesting yeah so like it what it was phenomenal and

[00:28:13] it is just a shame that DC somehow can't get its act together on some of its other properties

[00:28:20] I mean I love Wonder Woman haven't I haven't seen black Adam now I just missed that unfortunately

[00:28:26] because it's got Doctor Fating which I would love to see on the screen yeah I remember getting

[00:28:32] so excited with Doctor Fates mask being teased in Constantine and so I really wish you know it's

[00:28:43] like the whole thing going on with Superman at the moment let's happen with Henry Cavill yeah so

[00:28:50] but I love Batman yeah for sure yeah well look we've got brand new people behind scenes now over

[00:28:56] in over in DC universe I know a lot of our listeners will know that James Gunners now heading up the

[00:29:01] the co lead of DC Entertainment they're making lots of cuts and making lots of changes so that

[00:29:06] they can sweep the decks clear as they say a new broom sweep screen right so that's where they're

[00:29:12] out at the moment they're saying as early as January we will have announcements about the movies

[00:29:16] that are coming up they're still Shazam Fury the Gods coming out next year sequel to a movie we all

[00:29:21] love yeah blue beasels Shazam blue beadled is still on the schedule as far as I know I know it is

[00:29:27] confirmed that they released the artwork for it and it is literally confirmed for 2023 black

[00:29:33] atom 2 has been cancelled as of recording the day last night with the rock confirming that

[00:29:39] they're not moving forward with the next project but he may be back in other projects

[00:29:44] Superman is being rebooted wonder woman is being rebooted Matt Reeves Batman is getting a sequel

[00:29:51] but will not confirmed if this will be in the same DC universe as right now as this new upcoming

[00:30:00] universe James Gunners not confirmed it neither has Matt Reeve they have said they are in active

[00:30:05] discussion yeah I think I think the most interesting version I heard of that story was from James

[00:30:10] Gunners self saying that there is going to be an elseworlds in the DC universe and a lot of those

[00:30:16] stories can still be contained in elseworlds so similar to what we have in Marvel in Marvel movies

[00:30:22] with their multiverse these would be stories that don't fit into the DCU but I do think there's a

[00:30:27] lot of criticism that's leveled at DC for not getting their act together when they've had something

[00:30:31] like the Joker which was massive and got us going on the batman was absolutely huge this year you

[00:30:37] know they have had massive successes what they haven't had as a connected DC you no matter how many

[00:30:44] people put that stamp on their movies that never happened there was never a connected DCU there was

[00:30:49] what what Zack Snyder was doing with his five characters and there was always unique and interesting

[00:30:55] projects going on throughout DC they just haven't had the same kind of success and never were

[00:31:01] building towards the same kind of movie universe as the Marvel Marvel universe was doing so I'm

[00:31:08] interested to see what James Gunners now gonna be building towards their their concept is 10 years

[00:31:13] all they connected universe of movies and that he's going to be involved in the set but that so

[00:31:18] it's gonna be interesting to see how you build that up now when people are getting the let's say

[00:31:25] the most wide broadest audience is now no longer in for another 10 movie series leading to a big movie

[00:31:33] a big movie set up that doesn't seem to be where cinema goers are are going towards now anymore so

[00:31:40] Marvel have changed that as we said before their focus is going on at niche audiences looking for

[00:31:46] movies that make costs a little less to make but are still making profits out of audiences that

[00:31:52] haven't been served by their movies in the past how is DC gonna address that because going for

[00:31:57] an audience of a billion people is seems to be no longer possible no longer as possible as it was

[00:32:03] in the past yeah well we'll we'll I think it's we do have the secret war and then Kang

[00:32:09] Dynasty yeah so we're still gonna get that kind of Avengers kind of endgame level infinity war level

[00:32:15] I think it's just your right they're gonna put all the niches and then slowly build the blocks

[00:32:20] let's wait and see with DC like we said we have flash we have Aquaman we have Blue Beetle and Shazam

[00:32:26] all in the next kind of 24 months if the flash comes out yep that's a that's a whole other beast

[00:32:35] of like there's a term morbidly curious yeah I am 100% morbidly curious at this car crash TV that

[00:32:44] is the production of that film and what it will be more the actual PR of that with with Ezra Miller

[00:32:56] they are a well-known kind of to what I can see a very talented actor they are but unfortunately

[00:33:06] they have some issues which has caused multiple PR disasters yeah and yeah it's a difficult

[00:33:17] situation for a studio that's that's Pitting Hopes on a movie that costs a lot of money to make

[00:33:22] at this stage and if the rumors are to be to be believed about the amount of edits that movie's

[00:33:29] gone through because of various changes behind the scenes in DC alone just cutting out cameos

[00:33:36] from people and cutting out major major roles from people that have now moved on from DC

[00:33:41] when it does come out I'm very intrigued to see it yeah I do love flash as a character so

[00:33:46] that would be intrigued to see it those are our movies from 2022 and we also cover some fantasy

[00:33:52] TV shows so I bundled all those together our three big fantasy shows that we covered last year

[00:33:57] and one that is only just Quebec so we know our fellow listeners haven't ever haven't watched

[00:34:03] any of that but we have covered the Lord of the Rings the Rings of Power at the end of the

[00:34:07] Wheel of Time the Witcher season two and now the Witcher Blood Origin I'm not going to ask you

[00:34:12] guys to spoil anything at all about Blood Origin because people they not have seen it just yet

[00:34:18] Biggest show of the year for us really one of the biggest shows that we've done is

[00:34:22] The Rings of Power Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power a massive massive show

[00:34:27] huge amount of money put behind it by Amazon and approach for this show unlike pretty much any

[00:34:33] other because they're committed to five seasons of that show from season two is already in

[00:34:39] filming in there and then moved to the UK production move from move from New Zealand to the UK

[00:34:44] And there was a lot of grand work set in this in this first season we talked about a quite a lot

[00:34:48] jump that this is setting up a lot of things that will come and pay off down the line

[00:34:53] but still a lot of a lot of really enjoyable

[00:34:56] episodes I mean I think there's a lot of payoff and set up for stuff that happened in

[00:35:03] Season one

[00:35:04] Notably in episode six with effectively the creation of mortal and the eruption of Mt. Doom

[00:35:12] as well as

[00:35:14] The you know having spent most of the season in the presence of Sauron

[00:35:20] guessing not knowing having Sauron be revealed

[00:35:26] In his non-armored form

[00:35:29] So that was really you know a lot of payoff there I thought in the end

[00:35:34] Season one was massively well connected and set up. Yeah, I think

[00:35:39] On the Wheel of Time

[00:35:41] Possibly that was more a 2021 I think most of the episodes we covered I know

[00:35:47] We released one episode in 2020 and recorded it in 2022 so I have to count it but I have to say I absolutely

[00:35:54] Loved the Wheel of Time as well and I think I'm currently about to finish the third book and go on to the fourth

[00:36:03] So I'm really enjoying the books after I'm really looking forward to

[00:36:09] Season two of the Wheel of Time just with you know new characters but very familiar for me

[00:36:15] You know with those

[00:36:18] I guess those those that familiarity with the Lord of the Rings in that sense but different and that's the whole point

[00:36:26] You know like a lot of this

[00:36:28] And so I really enjoyed that so I think it's slightly undersold here with it just been one episode and and

[00:36:36] The Witcher season two

[00:36:38] mentioned this in the Blood Origins

[00:36:40] And with the fact that I just really pleased to be back in this world for

[00:36:46] There's kind of you know for episodes sort of special presentation with Blood Origins

[00:36:52] But

[00:36:53] Witcher season two really for me it just

[00:36:57] Able to get back into this world because it is for me very different and it's

[00:37:02] It's a very different sensibility and I think that is very much down to the origins and the source material that

[00:37:11] They you know the original

[00:37:14] author

[00:37:15] Of the books brought from which is pulling it from you know polis traditions yeah

[00:37:23] And Eastern Eastern European traditions. It's there's a real different flavor there to it

[00:37:29] Which I really really enjoy it is and it's interesting as an like

[00:37:32] Andra Sokeski who wrote the books only only got the opportunity to read one of the Witcher books last year

[00:37:38] After watching the two seasons of the show and I have to say I think the show is doing a better job of

[00:37:45] Being engaging in how it's delivering

[00:37:48] It's story. I think the book that I read at least the first one

[00:37:52] And didn't make me want to continue on into that world

[00:37:56] And the show is making me want to continue and now the Witcher Blood Origins which as I say we're not going to go into any kind of detail on

[00:38:02] But it's also kept me engaged in the world and I'm looking forward to the next season of the Witcher

[00:38:08] I will say one thing about Lord of the Rings the Rings of Power as well

[00:38:11] While I really did enjoy it last year

[00:38:13] It also delivered my favorite review of the year that we got for TV podcast industry

[00:38:18] There's no Chris you weren't here for for the rings of power

[00:38:21] So you weren't you went on here. So I'll share the my favorite review of the year

[00:38:24] At 4 star review on Apple Podcasts, which says just listening to these two random dudes talk about the show

[00:38:30] Find what me they notice everything it seems I'm looking for a pop podcast about the rings of power

[00:38:35] This could be it and

[00:38:38] Review of our podcast. I'm quite impressed. Thank you very much for that Rob major

[00:38:42] Um Rob major

[00:38:42] I'm please follow up with a second review

[00:38:46] Letting me know whether this was it

[00:38:49] That's all it was it it was it not it. That's all it's the question

[00:38:54] It's the dot dot dot dot it's the lip sees here

[00:38:58] That just give it that sense to say

[00:39:01] We want to know whether we ultimately were your podcasts for this

[00:39:05] Yeah

[00:39:08] So three different flavors of fantasy shows last year I would say yeah very much

[00:39:13] Yeah for me

[00:39:14] My heart lies with wheel of time it will always lie with I am

[00:39:19] More wheel of time than I am Lord of rings

[00:39:22] Um, I'm actually technically even more David eddings than I am Robert Jordan for the wheel of time

[00:39:27] Waiting for those shows to start getting made and picked somewhere. Oh they will

[00:39:30] Like he's got four different flavors of those

[00:39:33] Plus like two others like that are just standalone books

[00:39:38] um

[00:39:39] But for me

[00:39:41] Yeah wheel of time wasn't the special one for me

[00:39:44] I love the Witcher series I love the universe I love the games

[00:39:47] And I do enjoy Lord of the Rings for me Lord of the Rings has always been the

[00:39:52] The college academic version where you have the Witcher which is the kind of HBO and then the Wheel of Time which is the kind of

[00:40:02] Popcorn it's the popcorn kind of kind of fantasy from you know just good bit of action between and everything like there's a lot of setup

[00:40:10] Yeah, I mean

[00:40:12] I love myself a good fantasy. I have to say um and I would really hope um the

[00:40:19] David eddings be fantastic yeah for me one of my little offshoot

[00:40:25] Um would be Joe Abacromby oh yes

[00:40:28] Yes, I love to see as well. Yeah, um they're fantastic. I know so I mean sometimes they're difficult to translate but um

[00:40:35] Yeah, I would love to see those. Yeah, well we are getting dark towering about two years from

[00:40:41] Mike Flanagan that's yeah, that'll be very interesting

[00:40:44] I still obviously have not read the book um might give me enough time to read it because I understand there's a

[00:40:50] It's quite a massive book even for me

[00:40:54] Exactly so um

[00:40:55] So yeah, an interesting year of fantasy

[00:40:57] I know there's a couple of a couple of shows we'll talk about in the

[00:41:00] shows we missed this year as well which are other flavors to it to fantasy

[00:41:04] But you know the elephant in the room of about fantasy is that you know

[00:41:08] Gerard Tolkien is seen as the grandfather of modern fantasy certainly and the the one that

[00:41:14] created the tropes and created the concepts and seeing how many different flavors of fantasy are now out there

[00:41:20] In on TV on in this kind of long form storytelling that we're getting with TV and seeing how different they are

[00:41:26] You know, it's you might have elves in every single show

[00:41:29] But all of them have been different you might have towards every show all of them have been different flavors

[00:41:34] So it is really great that they've been able to bring something like rings a pair to life for its first season

[00:41:40] And that we're no we're gonna get lots more of it so I can understand why that was the the one that was most highest of those three shows this year

[00:41:47] You can get dragons in multiple shows, but only one of them will give you incest

[00:41:53] multiple times

[00:41:55] Game of Thrones, he's the dragons show we did not cover

[00:41:58] But there you go show we did not cover no

[00:42:00] Let's get out to some of the other shows we did cover last year in a last section of our review of 2022

[00:42:06] The other shows we covered last year

[00:42:08] The Sandman the boy season three the boys diabolical start up a card season two on barrel Academy season three

[00:42:14] And Pennyworth season three lots of season three and season three season two season two's last year

[00:42:18] I mentioned it before in the podcast. It's my favorite thing coming back to a show and seeing what to do with the characters

[00:42:24] After that first season big bang because sometimes they kind of run out of story

[00:42:28] And they don't go anywhere for the second season sometimes

[00:42:31] They're able to really develop those characters and create something brand new, you know

[00:42:35] There's not that many people in the world that would call the best season of the walking dead the first ever season or the best season of

[00:42:42] Lost the first ever season or the best season of supernatural the first ever season people find their favorites as seasons go on

[00:42:48] As they become fans that they get to know those characters

[00:42:51] There of course will be some people but there's not as many right so I love fun shows are expanding

[00:42:56] We got lots of big follow ups this year. Let's quickly talk about the boys season three

[00:43:02] Yes, one of the reasons I want to talk about that is

[00:43:06] You guys don't see our numbers very often

[00:43:08] But interestingly I crunched the numbers today for all of our podcasts for the year and number one podcast for the year

[00:43:15] As it has been every time a season has been released is the boys

[00:43:19] Season three it had more listenership than any of other podcasts

[00:43:23] um

[00:43:24] Double or triple some of the podcasts we had at this year and even more interestingly of every episode of the year

[00:43:31] Our number one episode of the year what can you guys guess what it was?

[00:43:35] I'll throw it over to Chris because John might have heard we say this a couple of months ago

[00:43:40] It was hero gas yes

[00:43:50] And it's definitely when you give a PG podcast an un PG episode

[00:43:56] You can spread the innuendo around no in your end

[00:44:02] We had to try so hard not to say things that we aren't allowed to say other PG podcasts

[00:44:08] Right that I think that was the fun of

[00:44:10] Of doing it. I think a lot of our listeners found out a lot of fun as well

[00:44:13] So yeah, thank you so much to all of you downloaded it is and I'm even talking unique downloads here

[00:44:17] I'm not even talking about like the people that might have just checked it out for a second

[00:44:21] It was 100% the biggest podcast that we that we did last year was hero gasm

[00:44:26] So exos stuff the boy the boy season three once again

[00:44:30] You know another great take from Eric Krypkin the and the makers behind the show where they're really

[00:44:36] Bringing to life a story. Yes, it's shocking. Yes

[00:44:40] This moments of that that you couldn't show on TV to a lot of people

[00:44:43] But the storyline itself is really working very well

[00:44:48] It's going hand in hand with stuff that you're seeing in news headlines

[00:44:51] And they're translating it into a really interesting story so once again, I think they accomplished their goals

[00:44:55] I think as well it is just the

[00:44:59] The joy of watching a program that and it's the same as podcasting or airship

[00:45:05] Where you're having to subvert in a sense. It feels like subversing the sensor

[00:45:11] You're having to get around this framework of rules. Yeah, in our case

[00:45:16] It's it's

[00:45:18] Double triple in you endos of some description or just

[00:45:22] You know, fairly descriptive ways of

[00:45:26] Describing appendages or whatever or particular bloody scenes and I

[00:45:32] Just get the feeling crypto is doing the same in terms of what he can put on TV

[00:45:37] And yet there is a story and a and a good one behind it all

[00:45:42] Which is where

[00:45:44] The detractors because of the goal the swearing the the the flagrant orgasms

[00:45:51] Being done and is missing the point but that is the fun part of ours as well. Yeah, and I remember cryptocurrency fairness has said

[00:45:59] He's never actually been censored

[00:46:01] He pushes it as far as he as he feels they can go and he's never been told no yet

[00:46:06] So so that's the that's what we're the interesting parts and also season three of the boys has led to

[00:46:12] possibly

[00:46:14] The funniest version of art imitating life that I've seen so far with

[00:46:19] And

[00:46:20] That's just column 45 still

[00:46:23] Basically now selling NFT cards with him dressed up as homelands and not seeing the irony of no

[00:46:30] That's just over the best stuff

[00:46:32] Absolutely insane that the world has gone to a place where you can push things to this extreme that they pushed them at in the boys

[00:46:39] Somebody sees it and goes oh, they're making a show about me and takes a lump board as a way to advertise themselves

[00:46:47] Anyway, I thought that was hilarious speaking of swinging misses and I don't usually go into the negative

[00:46:53] But this year we did cover a show which is

[00:46:58] I think literally only probably last second last because the boys diabolical was animated but start your precarious season two definitely this unfortunately

[00:47:08] I think we all agreed

[00:47:11] Probably just like we loved the we really enjoyed the first season there was some kind of ups and downs

[00:47:17] But overall came together really well

[00:47:20] Season two just had some

[00:47:24] And I looked back when we were when

[00:47:27] Derek kind of was pulling together duck on this and we were kind of discussing what we would kind of pull

[00:47:31] I did think back and I was sitting down and I was like oh yeah, they oh god. They did oh my god. They did that again

[00:47:37] And literally then they closed off parts of it with kind of westy kosher coming back and giving us some one bits and two

[00:47:44] But we called so much of it I think in the first two episodes. We're like okay, they're gonna do this this and and

[00:47:51] They didn't zig and then zi they just it was just a straight line of yeah, we pretty much

[00:47:57] Yeah, understood where they were going and what they doing and why they were like it felt like one long

[00:48:03] um

[00:48:05] One long storyline to get us to a point where they can do the season three that they wanted to do with everyone else coming back

[00:48:11] Get the marketing and then send everyone home

[00:48:14] I'm I it's still kind of

[00:48:17] I'm still upset but it's not upset. Excuse me. That sounds like I'm actually really over dramatically

[00:48:22] Ha-ha. I think I'm just kind of like oh

[00:48:25] Like you took a swing you missed let's move on to season three next year

[00:48:29] Yeah, like at least they've managed to hold on to that final season season three after season

[00:48:35] Two because it was the biggest disappointment for me and I think made more so because I think other than the the whole

[00:48:43] Flower thing at the end of season one which was literally

[00:48:46] And I enjoyed season one mainly because of that focus with the Romulans

[00:48:52] uh and everything and with the Borg yeah, um it was just

[00:48:58] really

[00:49:00] Kind of good star Trek and the first two episodes of season two for me

[00:49:08] Real potential

[00:49:10] And there were parts of it that I love dotted throughout but that potential just wasn't realized it was and I think for

[00:49:17] one of the

[00:49:18] The main issues that I had was just that breaking up of the group um in

[00:49:26] Across the the season you know, they'd been pulled together in such a great way in season one and then

[00:49:33] You know for various reasons as you know

[00:49:38] Co-rex actually practically as much as the story having to be written around it

[00:49:44] Yeah, but just felt like they it was

[00:49:47] Disassembled yeah, we gave it we gave it quite a lot of a past

[00:49:50] You know understand the issues were covered filming but

[00:49:55] There was a decision to be made by somebody in corporate CBS we've produced the show uh

[00:50:00] Paramount um produced the show

[00:50:02] Where they could have said right we need to stop this filming there's somebody here that's uh that

[00:50:08] We don't want to put it risk so and we should stop the filming here and come back to us any years time or six months time

[00:50:14] And somebody pushed through with it somebody decided to continue that show and absolutely shouldn't have ended off

[00:50:20] Showing on screen more than any other show I've watched I've seen soap operas that had a better way of filming

[00:50:27] Filming and this was literally right we're gonna have to film in a room

[00:50:32] We can only have these two characters and since those two characters filmed there today

[00:50:36] We're probably gonna have to film with them for the next month

[00:50:38] And then we might be able to get another scene with another character

[00:50:41] It really felt badly put together under the constraints they had and I just wish they'd wasted

[00:50:47] I'm really hopeful for the final season Picard. I love

[00:50:51] Patrick Stewart's I love his character

[00:50:53] I love the cast of the next generation and the ones that they brought back from uh with with seven and nine

[00:50:58] Fantastic character the new characters that were broad on board from Star Trek

[00:51:02] Uh Picard season one really enjoyed all of them really enjoyed having them back for a second season

[00:51:07] But it felt like

[00:51:09] Somebody should have put the break song and made a better season out of what they had because they had the elements that could have made a great show

[00:51:16] Great show very much and look that's that was the swing in the miss

[00:51:20] Let's talk about the swing in the home run this year. Mm-hmm. Yes. We got one show that has been in production for 20 odd years

[00:51:28] In some form or the other

[00:51:30] Film TV shows animated you name it has been the Piratey, but finally this year we got

[00:51:37] Let's say the silver screen the golden screen whatever the the TV screen

[00:51:43] laptop screen

[00:51:45] version of the san man

[00:51:48] Orpheus the king of dreams

[00:51:51] Lord of the lord of the sleep has come to fruition absolutely and the king of or other TV shows 41% of ocean uh giving san man the best

[00:52:01] Other TV show we covered this year, and I think it's entirely possible that if we put every show up

[00:52:07] Against each other we may have ended off with the san man um coming out very high

[00:52:12] Obviously we have lots of my real fans in our group obviously but lots of the lot of the rings fans in our group as well

[00:52:17] But um the san man being brought to life as well as it was and delivering

[00:52:23] A promise that was made by Neil Gaiman when he was selling the rights to the show that he would never let it go

[00:52:28] And be made poorly if he could if he had any say in it

[00:52:33] And he has always had a say at a chris you've mentioned this has been in production for 20 years

[00:52:37] The reason it's taken 20 years because Neil Gaiman has cut down and shut down at every single avenue anybody who is trying to

[00:52:44] mistreat

[00:52:45] his

[00:52:46] Grand creation the one thing that he holds really close so uh hearing those stories again over the years

[00:52:52] I've heard loads them in interviews with him and books that he's written over the years

[00:52:56] uh

[00:52:57] Showing how much he was willing to go up against the hollywood system at the time or the tv system to make sure that

[00:53:05] His precious little dream eventually cost uh the what what it deserved

[00:53:10] It's fantastic to know we're gonna get a season two

[00:53:12] I don't think we knew that until we recorded our final ever podcast on our final podcast on season that season one of the san man

[00:53:18] But we know we're getting a season two probably going to be another year or so in production

[00:53:23] rumors that season two is gonna have um

[00:53:26] Gonna be split in a number of ways similarly to the final episode of san man being released a couple of weeks after the show was released

[00:53:32] Rumors now they're gonna be releasing in either three episode or uh three episode arcs or two halves

[00:53:37] Netflix are trying to do that a bit more now because they're they're drop and run model is shockingly not working

[00:53:43] um, so

[00:53:44] Really helpful that we're gonna get a weekly show for san man for a while

[00:53:47] That would be great or at least a couple of episode arcs. That would be a great way to do the show

[00:53:51] I did I did feel you could easily have done that with with the first season san man

[00:53:56] So many fantastic stories brought to screen you know

[00:53:59] We saw 24-7 a very violent

[00:54:02] Nightmare story brought to the screen for the first time and done in such a great way

[00:54:07] TV we saw the incarnation of death coming to life on TV

[00:54:13] In such an amazing way, you know lines take it from the comic bush translated to a brand new

[00:54:19] Version of the character and making us all ballerize it

[00:54:22] You know and a fantastic storyline story

[00:54:25] I could spend all day again talking about san man as we did

[00:54:28] Multiple times you guys got anything else to say about san man. I mean as the newbie having not read the comics

[00:54:35] But being a massive fan of Neil Gaiman and the comics that he has done elsewhere as well um

[00:54:43] I loved it as well

[00:54:45] again, I think I scored pretty much every episode

[00:54:50] Very very highly probably more fives out of five

[00:54:55] Than the shorter series that was moon night

[00:55:00] So absolutely loved it and I thought more fierce was amazing

[00:55:04] Lucifer Morningstar

[00:55:06] And just really well done lots of intrigue there

[00:55:12] You have the character john d in there as well just like so well realized so creepy

[00:55:21] And it was fantastic

[00:55:25] coupled with the amazing

[00:55:28] And I say the death episode introduced to death and then with this amazing historical

[00:55:36] Journey at the end as well um at the pub effectively

[00:55:41] With the meeting of Morpheus and

[00:55:45] Hopgadling um you know through the ages just fantastic seeing shakespeare having um

[00:55:55] The the lady constantine involved there as well

[00:55:59] Joanna at really really good. Yeah

[00:56:05] What a show Kirby Hellbattiste as death just fantastic

[00:56:08] Yeah, can't wait for uh can't wait for season two of that show

[00:56:11] Uh we had another returning show coming back for season three but with a bit of a different twist on us and the biggest surprise of the FME

[00:56:19] At least

[00:56:20] Compared to what I thought we would be covering uh starting the year off was

[00:56:25] Pennyworth season three. Yes, which suddenly appeared and now I think this is the show that will never die

[00:56:31] I'm

[00:56:34] Is he stenders or carnation?

[00:56:36] I'm half expecting a season four just pulled um

[00:56:42] Out of thinner a convention in the near future. I'm absolutely convinced of it

[00:56:47] But I did not think uh that we would be and covering a season three at the start of 2022

[00:56:55] for Pennyworth and I just didn't

[00:56:59] Or I chose to forget it. I don't know one of those

[00:57:03] You chose to forget it because the the announcement came out in November last year because the big

[00:57:07] Chainsaw was for Pennyworth was the Pennyworth was balsch by HBL Max or moved to HBL Max for the first time

[00:57:15] It had always been on epics in the US and uh on a very small channel called stars in Europe

[00:57:20] Uh HBL Max put the first two seasons of Pennyworth on their on their platform in January of this year

[00:57:26] And then season three which was filmed last year

[00:57:29] appeared on the platform in October and ran through to December

[00:57:32] Lots and lots of our listeners for Pennyworth. We're contacting us for the first time saying that they'd only just call

[00:57:38] Pennyworth and catching up on it for the first time or we're actually really enjoying the show

[00:57:43] Because they'd never have an ability to watch it before you know

[00:57:46] Subscribe into another streaming service that only had Pennyworth available

[00:57:50] Doesn't really make sense for a lot of people but when you have HBL Max in the US and it's another show that's on there

[00:57:56] Hey, you try it and catch up

[00:57:58] I think it's a real surprise to a lot of people how much work goes into that show and how

[00:58:03] How surprising it is as a show. I think every week

[00:58:06] Even after covering that for three seasons and Gotham for five seasons

[00:58:10] Um

[00:58:11] Podcasting about it. I speak it to cast speaking to people behind the show

[00:58:15] I think even with all of that work that we do going into a podcast every week something happened on Pennyworth that we were going

[00:58:22] I did not expect that at all. I think it's quite unique

[00:58:26] It's certainly in terms of

[00:58:29] particularly

[00:58:31] From a DC perspective. I mean you know we were calling it their hell of us in terms of Bruno

[00:58:38] As the showrunner

[00:58:41] and

[00:58:42] Also that would apply to Gotham as well that we covered

[00:58:47] So it is very unique. I think it's got some fantastic um

[00:58:53] Design elements, but it is also I think at its heart really a reference and it's it's good

[00:59:01] It is good and that's like amazing. Glad she didn't die in the end spoilers and boss. Yeah really good

[00:59:11] We say like spoilers at the beginning so

[00:59:14] We're fine. I'm looking forward to diving into it

[00:59:17] I it's been one that is the the boys have covered and I

[00:59:21] I've always just kind of been back in the end

[00:59:23] I miss season three so it's kind of sitting there waiting for me to

[00:59:28] Devour over one

[00:59:30] Court of a week or two

[00:59:32] Um, but looking forward to we did cover one other season three

[00:59:35] And that was the umbrella academy season three which

[00:59:41] Was hotel oblivion based

[00:59:43] Obsidian I should say as well. It was it was an interesting it was it was definitely an interesting ending

[00:59:49] It looked very likely that we may not get a season four and that was going to be the ending where our again light spoilers

[00:59:58] everyone kind of

[00:59:59] Get home and walks away with some changes and some differences and some unique elements to the end

[01:00:06] Um, and they went places with this show that we I think all of us were like

[01:00:11] Yeah, that was not what we thought would happen did not expect that there yeah

[01:00:17] And I'm interested to look like we are going to get a short season

[01:00:22] for the rumors about a six episode season just to close things off

[01:00:28] Confirmed as a six episodes season for the final season

[01:00:31] Steve Blackman has taken Twitter to to confirm the rumors are true

[01:00:35] The six episode final season you'll love it is exactly his his words

[01:00:40] That was quote from earlier on this week. So so we will have it rendered as um umbrella academy season three had been finished

[01:00:48] About a while before it was released on to Netflix for its final season

[01:00:52] And it took a while to get confirmation that we would have a fourth season

[01:00:55] But that has been granted and that they will have that opportunity to close out the show the way they want to

[01:01:00] And that doesn't happen as often as we know to think it does and so

[01:01:04] We we have had some shows that have just disappeared and gone

[01:01:08] Yeah, I think in one year we lost six shows that we're recovering with data for finale

[01:01:13] Which was really awful year for us

[01:01:16] So I'm really happy that we're gonna get a final go round the block with these with these uh with these characters and actors

[01:01:21] This team on umbrella academy one of the things we absolutely loved the better as as a show is that family unit

[01:01:27] That's there. They're all good performers and all great together

[01:01:30] And some of them are really gonna go on to big things in the future

[01:01:34] And you sometimes feel they're being held back because they're staying on this show

[01:01:37] So you don't want that to happen either

[01:01:39] You want to know there's a finite timeline

[01:01:41] They're gonna end there they're gonna close out the show in hopefully a really great way

[01:01:45] So I'm really looking forward to seeing at the fourth and final season

[01:01:48] Yep definitely

[01:01:50] Definitely

[01:01:51] Yes, but those are the shows that we did cover it

[01:01:53] There were some shows that we had hoped to cover in 2020

[01:01:56] But we didn't get a chance to cover just because of the short amount of time

[01:02:02] Uh very quickly those were

[01:02:04] Legends of us makinat season one

[01:02:06] Richard

[01:02:07] Heartstopper

[01:02:08] Chucky interview to vampire Wednesday

[01:02:11] The Star Wars show like Boba Fash and andor and Willow

[01:02:16] These were all on the schedule every single one of these uh was on our schedule

[01:02:21] I had a plan um we were gonna fit them in

[01:02:24] It's somehow some way

[01:02:26] Um things like legend of us machine at chematon February of this year as it as did richer

[01:02:31] I commend February this year both at the exactly the same time and we were

[01:02:34] Uh just starting off our coverage of the car. We we had two weeks uh two weeks away

[01:02:39] That myself and john had to move out of our house

[01:02:41] As those shows came out I think yeah as far as I remember you guys watched the legends of us

[01:02:46] Machine it together on holiday yeah

[01:02:48] And we handed over a richer to you after we finished watching richer Chris

[01:02:52] So I know they were all at that time when we were gonna be out of our homes

[01:02:55] That was the reason why we didn't cover those

[01:02:57] Uh those shows this year but I know uh you guys loved legends of us machine at that

[01:03:01] Absolutely Fox Mach and a critical role

[01:03:04] I love critical role. I have since campaign won on geekestundry

[01:03:08] I've been following them. I am a big D&D head

[01:03:11] So seeing this turned into a cake starter and then moving to amazon

[01:03:14] Getting season one animated form of the campaign that I've watched live

[01:03:19] Being kind of role played out

[01:03:22] via D&D online

[01:03:24] Seeing these pieces come to life

[01:03:27] Now getting season two in just a couple of weeks

[01:03:30] I know

[01:03:31] And confirmed season three

[01:03:34] And some of the voice actors they brought it was just it was if you've never watched it

[01:03:38] It is just

[01:03:40] Fantastic again back into the fantasy world

[01:03:42] But with the noddles kind of turn of phrase in animated form

[01:03:45] Just very very fun. Yeah absolutely love this

[01:03:49] And

[01:03:50] And again it was yeah just something that wasn't on

[01:03:55] Uh

[01:03:56] My radar but I wish we had got it. It was so funny. It was just really good

[01:04:02] Animation good story

[01:04:04] Um love the characters

[01:04:06] Uh, so yeah, this was a good one

[01:04:09] Yeah, yeah, Mark Bernardin of Fatman Beyond

[01:04:13] And a number of the shows was one of the part of the writing stuff

[01:04:17] A number of other keywriters that you'll know from kind of key shows

[01:04:21] That you enjoy were on it and the animation was done by Tipmess

[01:04:24] Which is a really really kind of well-known and kind of well-respected kind of animation studio

[01:04:28] They're really really really good

[01:04:31] But

[01:04:32] Then you turned me onto Richard

[01:04:34] Jack Richard

[01:04:36] Yes, yes

[01:04:37] Holy mother of oh my god

[01:04:40] I

[01:04:41] Came into the show going guys no come on it's like Tom Cruise

[01:04:47] Oh you see that that's where your problem is Chris

[01:04:49] I'm exactly I'm a Jack Richard fan of I have read

[01:04:53] I'm up to days actually on every single books of 23

[01:04:56] Um Jack Richard novels have been released and I think five short stories if I remember right

[01:05:00] And and one off shoot think of read every single one of the uh the

[01:05:04] um

[01:05:05] Main novels one comes out every year basically

[01:05:08] Um, so I've been up to days four years then the Tom Cruise movie came out

[01:05:13] I actually thought he did a reasonably good job

[01:05:15] But the one thing you couldn't get over was Tom Cruise is five foot two five foot three

[01:05:20] Um, he had the attitude of the character the stories that he produced on screen were pretty good

[01:05:26] What Richard the TV show did was take one novel

[01:05:30] Boil it down to its component parts boil it down to the very essence of what leach out the livers in a Jack Richard novel

[01:05:37] Which is basically you tell your story and at the end of every

[01:05:41] Chapter you have a cliffhanger to get you to the next chapter

[01:05:44] All you want to do is watch more and boiling Jack Richard down to his central forum where

[01:05:50] And now I've gotten to the point where I can't see anybody other than Alan Richardson play this role of Richard

[01:05:56] Richard gets quite

[01:05:57] Oles now that you know the

[01:06:00] Books take place over about two or three weeks a 23 books isn't a huge actual the meta time

[01:06:04] So I could see on Richardson playing this role for about 10 years getting a bit older as he goes

[01:06:09] But still be able to play the role for the next 10 years

[01:06:13] And because he's exactly who I wanted. He's got such a presence on screen for someone who has

[01:06:19] Um, a small amount of dialogue

[01:06:21] I think he doesn't speak for most of the first episode if I remember right now

[01:06:25] But it's such a good show

[01:06:26] I absolutely loved it really enjoyed and I know it would hit a binna my radar from the time they were creating it

[01:06:31] Um that we were gonna cover on the podcast

[01:06:32] And then we just couldn't fill it in and they did that

[01:06:35] Dastardly thing of dropping all episodes in one day so we could even catch up on us for the podcast

[01:06:40] So delighted it's it's gone down as well as the house as well. Yeah, okay. Should we talk about the elephant in the room?

[01:06:48] And or oh definitely yeah, I think we had even said we were going to cover that as well because we had done

[01:06:56] Bad batch

[01:06:58] Um, and I think when we're looking through because obviously

[01:07:03] Star Wars have got that schedule which is pretty epic with mantleorian

[01:07:09] Those the book of Bob of Fest as well. Yeah, everyone can obi and obi one can obi so

[01:07:18] Yeah, I I so wish we had done and or because

[01:07:23] I mean, this is the one I absolutely love

[01:07:26] um

[01:07:27] Best show for you best shows that we've not covered yeah and we said we would yeah

[01:07:32] I was like, ah

[01:07:34] It honestly one of uh

[01:07:38] Take away Star Wars

[01:07:40] The mythos yeah, and this still

[01:07:43] Is one of the best shows of 2020 100% like not it put it in just in modern day or put it in

[01:07:52] back into

[01:07:54] World War II Berlin

[01:07:56] Like wherever you put this show it was settings it was

[01:08:00] well produced well written like the the story it's the story of resistance a theme of resistance of rebellion

[01:08:10] Not the characters rebellion not Jedi not good versus evil not like the Republic versus

[01:08:18] The Empire is just

[01:08:20] That's it no rebellion no Jedi in it and it felt absolutely a part of Star Wars because of

[01:08:30] The whole idea of the rebellion, you know, um just really really good

[01:08:35] To show about how the however rebellion does start. You know, yeah, that's how it's funded

[01:08:40] I'm fantastic. Yeah, and I think you know

[01:08:43] It's it's one of those shows beautifully

[01:08:46] Constructed across

[01:08:49] the series this first series

[01:08:52] um

[01:08:54] Acting amazing. I mean some of the the shots as well. I mean just that end credit with the the laser dish going in just

[01:09:03] To the death star really fantastic. Mm-hmm

[01:09:06] It really felt a part of the Rogue One world as well in that sense with just you know, some amazing speeches of

[01:09:16] you know so

[01:09:17] relevant for

[01:09:19] Some of the nuttiness that's happening and in the world

[01:09:24] As well and Stalin's car is correct. It's just oh

[01:09:26] magnificent as an actor and he gets one of the best speeches in in the show and probably one of the best speeches that Star Wars has ever produced

[01:09:34] But one of our wonderful fellow defenders did send a message on the thread for the the

[01:09:40] votes for this particular category

[01:09:42] Saying I kept thinking that you guys were covering and or and then I go and check the feed and remember you weren't covering it

[01:09:47] And it made me sad

[01:09:49] I'd love to hear thoughts on it. So we've given some thoughts on it Stevie

[01:09:52] Thank you so much for thinking of us when you when you were thinking about your and or podcasts

[01:09:56] But really the reason that that we didn't cover this was at the time that the first episode of the show are the first three episodes of the show came out

[01:10:02] Remember we were covering shehulk we were covering

[01:10:06] Lord of the rings the rings of rings of power

[01:10:09] And we were also covering sandman so we were covering three shows at the time this started

[01:10:14] There was just absolutely no way we were going to be fined that in and Chris was also out of the country

[01:10:18] Yes, I was traveling in I was in Singapore

[01:10:22] I was in California. Yeah, I was also in Dublin

[01:10:27] Oh, I was israel for a week as well during then and I think I rendered it out with

[01:10:34] Brazil

[01:10:35] Just I went to San Paulo you know, but like and that was all just work in the space of wind and or I enjoyed watching this show on my town

[01:10:42] This on the plane because it was great. Yeah

[01:10:46] But couldn't really cover it as a podcast unfortunately exactly exactly

[01:10:50] Even even if you had been home with three of the shows going on there's no way we could have fitted them

[01:10:54] But it's such it's such a good show. I'm glad so many people enjoyed it as well

[01:10:58] And three of the best queer shows of the year

[01:11:00] We definitely need to talk based on definitely we're gonna cover on the podcast

[01:11:03] Heartstopper absolutely heartbreaking and wonderful show highly recommend fantastic

[01:11:08] I think I've watched about two or three times well great music

[01:11:11] soundtrack is fantastic again. Yeah, and I think you know for a lot of people chucky

[01:11:16] And

[01:11:17] I think when I heard it was going to it was coming to tv because I loved

[01:11:22] Uh, I think it's only the first two movies felt like this. Yeah, and

[01:11:26] I was like I don't see how this is gonna work

[01:11:30] And it just works so well

[01:11:33] Really really good. Yeah, absolutely right in my horror area

[01:11:40] For TV which is great the way for anybody who wants to listen the way I describe it is

[01:11:47] Is it's like as first as evil dead the tv show and that was such a good representation of those characters

[01:11:54] The comedy that they had the the violence and and say and

[01:11:58] Otter bloody mayhem that's going on chucky is the spiritual successor to that show. I think yeah

[01:12:04] Yeah, absolutely love it. I hope when we're gonna go to third season of that as well

[01:12:07] And then speaking of our

[01:12:09] Derek got one of his all-time favorites absolutely an arise is

[01:12:14] Interpreter vampire the first of her of her shows

[01:12:17] The the an arise vampire chronicles broth to tv

[01:12:21] slight change

[01:12:22] Well quite a significant change for the books in the timeline moving to New Orleans in 1920, but

[01:12:27] Wow, this this show was magnificent every single week watching it to the third vampire just on tender hooks and

[01:12:35] Extastic about how well they were translating it from the books even though they made changes to to adjust the timeline

[01:12:42] I make the storylines work, but I am absolutely

[01:12:47] Flabbergasted I suppose as a word for it, but I will

[01:12:52] Yeah, really superb

[01:12:54] So definitely check interview with the vampire out. Yeah another show that I

[01:13:02] certainly had no hopes no hopes for was on my radar. I don't particularly

[01:13:09] Not that into the Adam's family and

[01:13:14] And

[01:13:16] Thank you, but I thought Wednesday

[01:13:19] Was superb. It was absolutely really really enjoyed it. Yeah. Yeah, it was such a fun show

[01:13:27] Just anybody I know that's that's picked it up and I'm trying to couple of episodes of it has really enjoyed it

[01:13:32] This the sardonic character of Wednesday Adams it works so well generally our tag is playing out of her skin

[01:13:40] So shades of the first season of Riverdale and I think a lot of people forget how good the first season of Riverdale

[01:13:46] Actually was before it went to absolute trash after the second third season

[01:13:51] Where it was just to show about how quickly can they get their shirts off?

[01:13:55] Soft cold. Yeah, it didn't and I forgot about all storylines, but

[01:13:59] Wednesday is a really good show great fun

[01:14:01] Definitely a good watch over the holiday period if you have some time off

[01:14:04] And finally the one that we really are sorry that we didn't get to cover at the end of this year

[01:14:09] Willow and we were able to get the first seven episodes of willow in advance and got to get a real feeling for the storyline

[01:14:16] It was a movie that actually failed miserably at the box office

[01:14:20] But has become a bit of a cult hit over the years

[01:14:22] But still not one that was up there with the George Lucas and and Steven Spielberg

[01:14:27] Big movies

[01:14:28] So it was one of those shocks that they were doing a series about it and we were kind of thinking this isn't gonna work at all

[01:14:33] But that opening episode you get a kind of a laid-end of the universe

[01:14:38] You get an idea of who all the major players are and from that point onwards

[01:14:42] It really airs on this great action comedy adventure

[01:14:46] I'm really really enjoying it right up until what we've seen up until episode seven

[01:14:52] It's a great great storyline

[01:14:54] And glad it's on TV and I'm hoping that's that it's getting the the viewership it deserves as it's available every week on

[01:15:01] On Disney Plus I feel it's going to get more over Christmas

[01:15:04] I think that's what the I think Christmas will be a festive time where people will catch up because that's what I like personally

[01:15:11] Haven't had a chance to dive in huge fan of the original right just haven't had time

[01:15:16] So I'm kind of putting aside a bit of time over the holidays. Yeah, to kind of go deep

[01:15:21] They are certainly enjoying playing with their audience as well

[01:15:24] Like like messing about with your expectations

[01:15:27] So I could a good fun show

[01:15:28] So those are all of the shows that we

[01:15:31] Unfortunately had planned to cover but didn't get to cover those loads of other shows that we would have

[01:15:35] Would have also wanted to cover things like ice to the dragon

[01:15:37] Of course big Game of Thrones fans

[01:15:40] But there are also about six thousand podcasts covering that show. We so we didn't feel the need

[01:15:45] To chat a bit them ourselves

[01:15:47] But interestingly of those shows and or was number one

[01:15:51] But at 31% of the voter was quite wide the spread

[01:15:54] Across the the choices that we had available to us

[01:15:58] Yeah, interview the vampire and richer both 22% of the vote

[01:16:01] That we got in for for shows that we should have covered

[01:16:04] And then some some interest in the other shows as well

[01:16:07] So so it's always good to throw that out there with the audience at that

[01:16:10] And that's what I kind of like people know the types of shows we enjoy

[01:16:14] And I think they're pretty happy with a lot of the choices that we make of shows that we're interested in

[01:16:19] So I'm happy we would have connected um with with our audience

[01:16:24] As well, so we would have people listening to it basically a massive massive year for us

[01:16:30] To podcast industries 100 episodes

[01:16:32] Um tons and tons of shows loads of movies loads of things we couldn't cover

[01:16:36] But thank you so much for staying with us through right our coverage of after 2022

[01:16:41] I think we're gonna go on and talk about some stuff that's upcoming for next year

[01:16:45] Let's do it less us do it indeed

[01:16:49] 2023 we're coming

[01:17:07] So yes time to look into the crystal ball and see what's coming up in 2023

[01:17:11] It's getting harder and harder every year to put together this list of what's coming up in the next year because

[01:17:16] So many shows getting nanced really early and so many shows do not have dates on the most wetter coming age

[01:17:22] So I have a list of the things that we think we're gonna cover some are much more definite than others

[01:17:28] Uh, we're kicking off the new year really early in the new year

[01:17:32] In fact earlier than we originally thought with the bad batch season two coming in on January 4th

[01:17:36] So directly after the new year we're gonna be kicking kicking kicking back with hunter wrecker omega echo tech and crosshair on bad

[01:17:44] batch season two another released a brand new trailer for us just a couple of days ago

[01:17:49] Um, I have had the chance to see the first episode of the second season as well

[01:17:52] Um guys very good. Yeah, look at you. We are jealous. Yes. He did it without us folks

[01:17:57] He did it without us. I did I did and you messed up as well

[01:18:01] I did slightly because we only get four views of our preview episodes

[01:18:04] So I've watched one so we may not be able to see it many many times before or in the podcast

[01:18:09] Sorry, but it is again back with these great characters

[01:18:12] The clone force 99 from from the clone wars

[01:18:15] So um there are some changes uh in the second season. It's gonna get a bit darker

[01:18:19] We we understand there's uh, there is more illusions to um to the empire taking over think about and or for kids

[01:18:27] Is what I would say the bad batch season two is going to be playing with we definitely any other appearance from the uh from the emperor

[01:18:34] Uh in the next season which is gonna be very interesting

[01:18:37] And we may find out who is the author to the omega

[01:18:41] Yes, who is just a maker

[01:18:44] Yeah, no, I mean the trailers looked really good and um like I just I love this style of animation

[01:18:54] Um it is day for lonely as well about you um is involved

[01:18:59] And I think in day for lonely we trust yeah

[01:19:03] So for sure really looking forward to this as in how they progress this

[01:19:08] This story um yeah for sure agree to from uh 15 episodes

[01:19:12] I think in total um for the season first two episodes released in January 4th

[01:19:16] There's another two coming out in February uh back to back together and then it closes out the season with a double

[01:19:22] episode as well so something that Star Wars hasn't done in the past at all in any of their shows

[01:19:26] So uh so quite a lot of content there coming from the bad batch push. I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of fun

[01:19:31] Uh with the team again

[01:19:33] Another massive show coming out next year and we took this from our poll over on our Facebook group

[01:19:39] Um, we kind of have to cover this don't we the the last of us uh all three of us are massive gamers are all three of us have played

[01:19:46] Last of us one and two on a um PlayStation um probably the best game um I think I've ever

[01:19:53] Uh played and seen uh it's one of my favorite games of all time a fantastic story certainly the best story committed to games

[01:20:01] I think it's probably the way I described us um it's it's excellent

[01:20:04] I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do um it looks

[01:20:08] So good from the trailers and it's also coming from the creator of the show uh

[01:20:13] Chernobyl on HBO which was a stunning tv show so uh i'm really excited to see what uh what they bring to the world

[01:20:21] Of the last of us when i clicked on January 15th. I mean the trailer has just those snippets of the clickers

[01:20:28] um

[01:20:30] It's just really good. Yes, there are some some of the their versions of zombies for those of you the uninitiated

[01:20:36] Yes and the original the original creative director Neil Druckmann has been involved from day one

[01:20:42] The actual original voice actors of toy Baker and ask Johnson who kind of voiced the characters in the original game

[01:20:49] Uh in the games I should say uh are involved and are there they they've been very truthful to the

[01:20:57] Show but it is an adaptation so for those who are kind of going in go no play the game

[01:21:01] I don't need to watch the show

[01:21:03] You need to watch it's gonna be it's gonna be good yeah um absolutely

[01:21:07] It's kind of the you know it's it's

[01:21:10] It's worth society falls down because of a really bad dose of athletes

[01:21:17] Pretty much it happens

[01:21:19] The clickers are fungal um

[01:21:22] Yes, which is really really cool. It's that it's a really

[01:21:26] fantastic twist on um

[01:21:30] On the zombies yeah, yeah, yeah

[01:21:32] Yes, and the main stars of the show Pedro Pascal who you may remember as dynjern from the Mandalorian and

[01:21:37] And balaramzi who you may remember from game of thrones and uh and from his dark materials

[01:21:42] I'm taking on this really interesting role in the last of us. There's quite a few spoilers

[01:21:48] The most recent trailer released. I'd probably avoid that if you haven't seen the game

[01:21:52] But come join us from January 15th

[01:21:55] For the last of us showing hpl max from January 15th also being broadcast in europe on on sky

[01:22:01] Coming out believe it to it. Like in the morning on the 16th of January so it's pretty much live broadcast

[01:22:06] That's how confident they are in this show

[01:22:09] They only have done that in the past with the game of thrones and and

[01:22:13] House of the dragons of this world. They don't do it very often

[01:22:15] So so we'll be available for everybody to watch at the same time

[01:22:19] Hoping lots of people are going to join us for that one

[01:22:22] We've mentioned this couple times already not too much more to say the final season of Picard

[01:22:26] Is gonna be coming out on from febru 15th fears across the it's good. Yeah, yeah

[01:22:31] Yep, I'm hoping so we have all of the cast come back from from the original enterprise

[01:22:36] Uh Beverly crush is gonna be there war's gonna be there. We have the four who's gonna be there

[01:22:40] And dace is gonna be back of course because Brent's plan is always gonna be involved in this show

[01:22:44] We have seen lore in there. They so himself may not be back, but lore is back

[01:22:49] So yes, I'm really excited to see how they close this out

[01:22:52] um

[01:22:53] They have to make up for season two right and yes

[01:22:56] And the bad guys from the trailer certainly seem

[01:23:00] The their ship at least some of the shots of it is very reminiscent to me of star Trek

[01:23:07] Insurrection the ship the of um

[01:23:10] Is it shins on I think yeah, they're played by Tom Hardy

[01:23:14] uh

[01:23:16] Just some there's a feel about it. I think with the kind of spiky tendrils coming out. Yeah, so interesting

[01:23:23] Sharpen space. Yes. Yes

[01:23:25] But we will also be boldly going where no man has got wealth where no man has gone before but no Antman has gone before

[01:23:32] Yes, we will be just days later on february 17th going into

[01:23:38] Quantum mania at man in the wasp quantum mania where we will be going into the quantum verse

[01:23:45] And we will need stature

[01:23:47] The and band daughter who is now remembered aged up because of the blip. Yes, and

[01:23:54] Cassie she has Cassie line and more importantly not maybe not importantly

[01:24:00] We get kind

[01:24:01] Yes, can watch it is happening blazing gentlemen boys and girls we last saw him as he who

[01:24:08] Mains in Loki season one but now we are definitely getting kind kind kind

[01:24:14] Kind kind

[01:24:16] We'll be doing the kind kind yeah, I'm really intrigued by this

[01:24:22] We've all said that the Antman movies in the past have been you know

[01:24:25] There's some of the lower end movies of the MCU

[01:24:28] Their comedy movies that didn't really connect with a lot of other stuff

[01:24:32] You know, but Paul road is

[01:24:33] Emmanently watchable eventually Lily fantastic actress Michelle Fyfer coming back of course Michael Douglas coming back and

[01:24:40] Some really

[01:24:42] Intrigued where this is gonna go we've seen the multiverse now we're going to the quantum verse effectively

[01:24:46] We're going to be going into the quantum realm so I think I even saw some of the micro knots in the

[01:24:53] So so you did

[01:24:55] So you did

[01:24:57] Looks like they're merging the microverse and the quantum verse and a number of other things like it's all gonna

[01:25:04] Just fall in like kinds

[01:25:07] Citadel which will I believe chronopolis

[01:25:10] Where he is this in a time and space and everything well

[01:25:14] In part chronopolis sounds like the local chippy there was in my hometown

[01:25:20] That was

[01:25:23] Slightly different place better cababs there. Yes

[01:25:26] Um, we

[01:25:28] They're merging it all so look at this is one for me. I'm like oh because they're also giving

[01:25:33] Quantum powers and a few other things. It's gonna be it's gonna be fun

[01:25:38] But apparently it is going to be dark again

[01:25:42] Leading into the the kind dynasty and the quantum kind of the quantum saga

[01:25:50] The multiverse saga that we are currently in in this phase

[01:25:54] It's one I think everyone

[01:25:57] Should have on their radar. Yeah, absolutely

[01:25:59] And interestingly this kicks off phase five of marvel phase four effectively ended with

[01:26:05] With Wakanda forever

[01:26:07] And then the guards again actually how would we special just as a little little capper on the end of it

[01:26:13] But the kickoff of phase five of marvel is quantumania. This is

[01:26:17] Another massive opening of the universe

[01:26:21] Which which is it is interesting in and of itself

[01:26:24] And we also finally get

[01:26:26] Within phase five

[01:26:28] One of the TV shows that I've been waiting for for a very long time

[01:26:32] I think when um

[01:26:33] Samuel Jackson was cast in the role of Nick Fury right back and Ironman from that point onwards

[01:26:39] IMDB had listed a Nick Fury TV show and it's taken this long 10 12 years now

[01:26:44] I think you're 13 years at the stage

[01:26:46] But we are getting secret invasion next year led by

[01:26:51] Nicholas Joseph Fury played by Samuel Jackson

[01:26:55] Coe coe smolders is coming back as Maria Hill of course

[01:26:58] And in her role as a CIA agent

[01:27:02] um

[01:27:03] So excited about this. This is not only is it a Nick Fury show

[01:27:07] But we've been treated to some of the best cast that we've seen in a marvel tv show for a very long time

[01:27:13] Olivia Coleman Oscar and Emmy winner is coming into

[01:27:16] Secret invasion. We're also going to have the mother of dragons herself Amelia Clark

[01:27:22] Playing a major role in the show

[01:27:25] What's also really interesting about secret invasion is while it does take place in an on TV

[01:27:30] We can't really on we can't really know what the ramifications for the MCU are going to be

[01:27:35] But what was always interesting about it in the comic books as the major arc that it was was you can't trust anybody

[01:27:42] You can't trust any character that appears in the show to be who they

[01:27:47] Who they seem so I wonder if they're going to be taking characters that we've seen making cameos and shows like she Hulk for example

[01:27:54] And expose that there scrolls is that a possibility, you know

[01:27:58] Is there a character that you've seen in a movie that did that to differently than you would have expected them to act?

[01:28:03] Well, then they could be a scroll, you know

[01:28:05] I kind of like that this could play as in so many different ways but at its heart

[01:28:10] This is a spy show led by Nick Fury. It's what I've wanted four years

[01:28:16] So I am so excited about this

[01:28:18] Yeah, and it is again the full plot is

[01:28:22] somewhat under wraps like we do know the skulls it is based on a series of comic books and kind of a saga

[01:28:29] um

[01:28:31] But we do know the MCU likes to play in circum kind of

[01:28:34] circumvent what are some of our beliefs are based on these comic books so

[01:28:39] It is all all in of for grabs in this well

[01:28:43] Absolutely and the biggest part of that is the scrolls have already been introduced to the MCU

[01:28:47] And they're quite friendly nice people who were using their ability to shape shift to hide from the aggressors in the creese girl war

[01:28:53] So what way are they going to twist that for secret invasion? I can't wait

[01:28:58] I'm really looking forward to this one as well. No days on as unfortunately

[01:29:02] We do know it's one of the first shows coming up

[01:29:05] Within within the the shows coming out next year on Disney Plus but don't have a date yet

[01:29:11] No, but we do have a date for the next MCU film

[01:29:14] Which will be May 5th

[01:29:17] May the fifth be with you in Guardians of the Galaxy volume 3

[01:29:22] Yeah, I'm looking forward to this. I'd love to go to the galaxy and volume one and volume two

[01:29:29] I really want this to land

[01:29:32] And I'm

[01:29:35] Confident it will we've got swole Groot in there from the holiday special. Yes, group. There is seemingly a pal of

[01:29:46] Rocket raccoon in the form of an otter

[01:29:50] So looking forward to that one as well. The trailer's very high evolutionary. Yeah

[01:29:55] Yeah, the trailers just does show the origin of rocket raccoon something that's been teased since

[01:30:02] Since Skyran's the galaxy a volume one

[01:30:05] And because he doesn't like to be called a rocket. We know he's been experimented on and turned into who he is

[01:30:09] But we will see that like expect that storylines probably going to draw a few tears like the ambosauri line is in that

[01:30:17] From the holiday special as well you've got and the brother sister

[01:30:23] Element here for and Peter Quill and Mantis. Yeah, and we do see old Gamora in the trailer

[01:30:31] We do yeah, we do and we also know this is the final

[01:30:34] version of the Guardians of the galaxy from James Gunn

[01:30:37] So this is his last project from marvel he's moving on to his Roland DC. This is the last

[01:30:42] one of these

[01:30:44] versions of Guardians galaxy Peter Quill and his team I suppose

[01:30:48] We do know from from the trailer that's that we will see so vestus alone back who played one of the original

[01:30:54] Guardians of the galaxy that we saw in

[01:30:56] Guardians volume two and Miley Cyrus also confirmed to to return as as the voice of another member of the Guardians

[01:31:02] Which is which is one that I didn't even know how to happen before so that's really interesting

[01:31:08] But yeah, that's and Adam Warlock teased and sees in volume two is a pairing

[01:31:14] So definitely something

[01:31:16] Especially he had the soul gem for years that part of the infinity stones

[01:31:20] Yeah, I've got some habit in this one. So we'll see how that all turns out played by the excellent will polter

[01:31:26] I can't wait to see what it does in the royal wolf polter much more known for his comedic chops

[01:31:30] And then and some great movies all the way back to his first appearance in son of Rambo

[01:31:34] Which is fantastic at he's always been great to watch

[01:31:37] So I'm really interested to see how he fits into this

[01:31:41] Uh the Guardians of the galaxy again more comedic movies generally, but they always have a heart to them

[01:31:46] Yeah, something that James Gunn does quite well and he got the Marvel labs

[01:31:51] This is just like he did like he did they went and did it again. Yeah, like he went

[01:31:55] They took a comedic actor and made him

[01:31:57] Yeah, and he didn't just go for a bronzing he went for a gold

[01:32:00] He did he went from son of Rambo to effectively

[01:32:04] Meeting Rambo

[01:32:07] I guess

[01:32:09] speaking of

[01:32:11] The continued

[01:32:12] Funding games that are the the Marvel universe we are getting slightly you have to feel into perhaps the one of the best spider-man films

[01:32:21] Of all time the sequel to one of the best spider-man films we are getting in June

[01:32:27] We are getting our June second, I should say spider-man across the spider-verse

[01:32:32] Part one

[01:32:35] Oh my god, Jens this the trailer recently launched

[01:32:40] Kicks off with this soulful beautiful conversation with Miles and his mother

[01:32:46] And straight away my heart just afflicted

[01:32:49] I'm like

[01:32:50] This this is going to be

[01:32:53] I get I'm going to get multiple spider-man

[01:32:55] I'm going to when this comes out on like blu-ray and kind of streaming

[01:33:00] I know I'm going to sit there pausing

[01:33:02] Every seeing going oh that's that spider-man. Oh, that's that's all that's fat spider-man from earth x

[01:33:07] Oh, that's x-pigman spider-man

[01:33:10] Like there's going to be hundreds of them and I'm going to enjoy

[01:33:13] Going through each and every single one of them but more importantly this is going to be we get um

[01:33:20] And Miguel O'Hara as spider-man 2099 who was teased and credits of

[01:33:25] The first spider-man into the spider-verse

[01:33:28] We get again spider-guen Miles Morales

[01:33:33] Peter B Parker all of them are coming back

[01:33:36] We also get spider-woman is coming in yeah and a number of other kind of fun ones like spider punk and things like that

[01:33:42] So it's going to be one where I think a lot of people

[01:33:46] Are gonna go in with so many expectations that I think they will be lived up to but we'll have to wait and see

[01:33:51] But it is definitely one a big one on my radar

[01:33:54] I think it's definitely that there will be an expectation here because I mean I think for the first

[01:34:00] Movie like I loved it absolutely loved it. I think I said something crazy like it's probably the best spider-man movie

[01:34:07] Um, I've ever seen yeah

[01:34:10] So it's only one of the best animated movies ever

[01:34:12] It's definitely yeah certainly that and so really want to see this calm white fridge come out and I hope

[01:34:20] It's in the same form to be honest. Yeah, yeah absolutely and then it already looks stunning

[01:34:26] In some of the seeds that we've seen in the trailer and I know they're holding a lot back

[01:34:30] If it has the same kind of heart and the same and the same kind of animation style as the first one

[01:34:35] You know, they're starting from a from a high platform right there

[01:34:38] So it's really looking forward to another one really looking forward to is our final meeting of the marvels

[01:34:44] This originally started as captain marvel to the sequel to the 90s set captain marvel movie which just

[01:34:51] finished off that phase after

[01:34:54] Infinity War and Endgame so

[01:34:55] So we got to learn who

[01:34:57] Who captain marvel was but has now morphed into something that probably is even more interesting to me

[01:35:02] I love this idea of having captain marvel who we met before in the city and in movies

[01:35:07] We now have miss marvel who we've met as Kamala Khan from the TV show

[01:35:11] And we're also getting Monica Rambo who met a spectrum in

[01:35:15] In one division a year before and all three of these characters are meeting up

[01:35:20] In the marvels coming out in July 20, ain't I'm really intrigued by this you know

[01:35:24] We saw a little flash of it at the end of miss marvel where um we saw

[01:35:29] Kamala trading places with Carol Danvers and apparently there's another trade with Monica Rambo

[01:35:35] And that's how they all get involved all three of them have trade places with each other

[01:35:39] And so they're all in different situations

[01:35:41] So I'm intrigued to see how that works

[01:35:43] I just one thing I'd love to see would be

[01:35:46] Carol Danvers interacting with Kamala Khan's family just for 10 seconds at the opening of that movie

[01:35:52] Just incorporate that family a wonderful family into

[01:35:56] Into the marvels movie, but I'm really excited about this one

[01:35:59] Absolutely no expectation like I loved the first movie

[01:36:04] I've loved

[01:36:06] Miss marvel

[01:36:07] So I'm one but I'm not

[01:36:10] I just don't know what's gonna happen and that is exciting

[01:36:14] Yeah, we were due the first trailer around February um to

[01:36:17] Based on kind of usual timeline. So I think it's going to be an interesting

[01:36:21] I again, I'm the with you guys. I have no expectations because I just don't I don't even

[01:36:27] Know who the the rumored villain is what the room with plotline is yeah

[01:36:31] I have some expectations for each of the other films because I've kind of been followed

[01:36:36] But for the marvels it's been

[01:36:38] Kind of quiet on the western front well, absolutely

[01:36:41] So it's gonna be interesting yeah marvel marvel are tendin to attach their trailers to the previous movie effectively

[01:36:47] So we are getting quite to my name in February which is where that room came from I guess

[01:36:50] So I presume we'll see our our preview around that time

[01:36:54] But exciting to see those characters particularly returning to the MCU

[01:36:58] A couple of the TV shows for next year none of the TV shows for Disney Plus have been dated

[01:37:02] So we don't know where these are happening, but what if season two expected to come in early 2023

[01:37:08] No idea what way they'll what way they'll take those stories whether it's gonna be like the first season where they all

[01:37:14] appear to be disparate stories and end off merging together at the end and

[01:37:19] And combining themselves into all stories

[01:37:21] I'd love if they expanded the universe more

[01:37:24] Where we get any kind of story being told and it doesn't have to tie into

[01:37:28] To one big bow by the end of the season

[01:37:30] That would be something I'd love to see from from season two of what if but I'm not sure if they're gonna do that

[01:37:35] Definitely because I think with what if as well it because you've got that more episodic

[01:37:40] Element to it. It's a really good place for marvel to introduce something

[01:37:46] Just in a very small

[01:37:48] Snippest, but I think

[01:37:50] Along with what if the words I am looking for or

[01:37:55] Keeping my ear out for shall we say is the word incursion?

[01:37:59] Mm-hmm. Yeah, for sure. Yeah

[01:38:02] And you know whether it is the marvels or

[01:38:06] and man on the wasp

[01:38:08] Contomania

[01:38:10] as well as the other TV shows

[01:38:14] I am listening for

[01:38:16] Encursion yeah introduced in Dr. Strangels and multiverse madness as this massive idea of different universes coming and crossing over with each other

[01:38:24] Destroying each other and different universes that would be really interesting to see how they deal with that another returning show for next year

[01:38:31] projected for summer 2023 at Loki season two wow yeah, that's a hundred percent coming in the summer

[01:38:38] It's like they'll definitely do it bar some catastrophic event because

[01:38:45] We will have just met kind yeah

[01:38:48] um in

[01:38:49] February so I they're gonna want to roll with the kind of the swell of behind

[01:38:56] um

[01:38:57] What will be more than like the a new hit villain

[01:39:02] Um, and we did see his statue at the end of season one of Loki yeah

[01:39:07] And we did get a quick taste of

[01:39:11] uh in terms of uh the trailer or kind of some scenes in just a recent release 2023 look ahead on Disney+.

[01:39:19] um but and it looks good

[01:39:22] Yeah, I'm looking forward to all major cast come back as well as as well as

[01:39:26] Kai Hukwan who uh who most recently appeared in the wonderful

[01:39:30] Everything everywhere all at once this year and formerly known as as Indy sidekick in the Indian Jones and Tablo

[01:39:37] So great to see him back and great to see him getting a role in the MCU as well

[01:39:40] So excited to see what's coming up in Loki season two as well iron heart following on from

[01:39:47] The introduction of iron heart in Wakanda forever

[01:39:50] We're expecting to see that as well towards the end of next year you know

[01:39:53] The launch of the character being towards the end of 2022 yeah makes sense to have uh the character coming up at the end of 2023

[01:40:00] Uh in her own show that's uh that's gonna be quite interesting

[01:40:03] I know Chris you had a theory about a character from from Miss Marvel

[01:40:07] Possibly jumping over into iron heart yes, we did see Bruno go off to the same colors you went to that way see

[01:40:13] So I'm expecting potentially it's gonna cross over

[01:40:16] Interestingly enough, this is a bit of a weird one where we're gonna see the hood who was

[01:40:20] Was in the comic books a mystical

[01:40:24] Kind of magic based yeah

[01:40:26] villain

[01:40:27] He is confirmed as the one of the main villains for this show um and

[01:40:32] So it's gonna be interesting to see how

[01:40:35] Magic and technology go off against you wonder whether they continue that they kind of magic

[01:40:40] Peace of the hood, but it would be definitely interesting. Yeah. I'm this is one. I'm curious

[01:40:44] I want to see more about I like to character

[01:40:49] To a degree within um yeah the black panther Wakanda forever

[01:40:53] Um but that's so much other heavy lifting to do in that movie. I think it's a great a good introduction to the character

[01:40:59] Um some great moments whether you got a feel of who the character is but that's all they were gonna accomplish in that

[01:41:05] I think that that is all it was on that so I'm intrigued for the character

[01:41:10] I think the thing that's gripping me here is the hood um

[01:41:14] I

[01:41:15] Think he's a really

[01:41:16] underutilized character in the comics and and that's why

[01:41:21] For anyone who is interested in it the brine cave warn six issue

[01:41:26] comic run of the hood is very very

[01:41:31] It is also involved in dark rain as well, so um

[01:41:35] I'm really intrigued for the hood uh yeah for sure but looking forward to getting a little more focus on re-rewellings in our own series

[01:41:41] Yeah, that'd be yeah, we're really good fun

[01:41:42] But you mentioned the mix there of of magic and uh tech um another magic show coming back

[01:41:48] I'm another follow up to a previous series that we saw from uh from out of the uh the

[01:41:54] Spotlight of one division. We are getting agatha covenant of chaos now

[01:41:58] This one's a little bit more

[01:42:00] But it's somewhere out there in the future the name of the show has changed at least once since it was originally announced

[01:42:06] Um, but this is possibly winter 2023 possibly into into 2024 so uh

[01:42:11] But I am really intrigued to see agatha harkness back on screen definitely she was such a stand-a-character

[01:42:17] When we saw her back in one division definitely there's rumors as well that this might be moving to becoming a

[01:42:23] Kind of special presentation there. Oh, okay. They they again. It's this one that keeps it

[01:42:27] This is one I'm really interested in because it keeps it's it's changed at least twice as you mentioned

[01:42:33] And now the latest rumor is that it has been shifted to becoming a special presentation over 90 minutes

[01:42:39] Yeah, I'm excited about this pointing though um

[01:42:42] You know Catherine Han was such a great actor

[01:42:44] Yeah in

[01:42:45] One division and I feel like she's a she's an actress that needs a vehicle and I'd love that vehicle to be agatha harkness

[01:42:51] And also with the current

[01:42:54] release of the game midnight suns as well, which has got agatha in it and

[01:42:59] She's every was yet she is literally all over us and in her

[01:43:04] Ghost form

[01:43:06] Oh more spoilers so sorry fellow defenders

[01:43:10] But also just that element of it

[01:43:14] Because there is the the wander connection in that and with the current title at least having chaos

[01:43:21] In this and the chaos magic that the scolid which uses so who knows um maybe they're starting to connect up their games as well

[01:43:31] Yes, yeah speak speaking of kind of kind of wrapping up I should say our kind of marvel kind of list

[01:43:38] For what we kind of know we we do know that or the rumor is that marvels echo

[01:43:44] Starring halluecox and Vincent danofrio which we did see in hot guy last year

[01:43:51] Um is juite towards the end of 2023 that may shift depending on a few things. Yeah, that was originally planned for April

[01:43:58] um up next year there was one originally planned as one of the earliest shows coming out because it was

[01:44:02] Coming off the back of hot guy bush, uh, but yeah, I'd now pushed out towards the end of of 2023

[01:44:07] um, you know, it's it's it's interesting to see how how they'll they'll have

[01:44:12] echo with her on the show and it's gonna be fascinating to see kinkpin

[01:44:16] Without daredevil over there bush

[01:44:18] We will be seeing daredevil born again

[01:44:20] And filming starts on daredevil born again in march 2023 car Charlie Cox taken up with his most recent show traitor

[01:44:27] I think it is on on Netflix. Yes

[01:44:29] Which he finished off filming there quite recently and he's also been filming over in Ireland as we've mentioned before

[01:44:34] And so that so he is traveling over to the us for march to start filming on daredevil born again

[01:44:40] Which is due to come out in 2024 so we will stop talking about daredevil

[01:44:44] I know we all want to camp let's talk about it as a show when it comes out there

[01:44:47] Yes, last piece about the daredevil though is he a partner to each article is going to make a cameo

[01:44:53] In echo um as one of her mentors or a mentors

[01:44:58] Besides hot guy. Yeah, but are we interested to see how that all spins out

[01:45:02] But again more than likely at least a year when we'll talk about it again in our 2023 wrap-up on our 2024 look ahead

[01:45:09] Exactly next year exactly and I'm sure we'll talk about it all the way through ed echo

[01:45:13] next year

[01:45:14] Uh, we will of course if the Lord of the Rings the rings of power returns next year

[01:45:18] We'll of course be covering that as well

[01:45:21] Very much the expectation is that will be a 2024 show um the production moving to another country

[01:45:26] Obviously will delay delivery of uh of the show

[01:45:30] But filming has started film has started a few weeks ago and as part of that

[01:45:33] That filming announcement

[01:45:35] We've seen a number of announcements of massive events of cast being added to the ever expanding

[01:45:40] Ensemble cast for that show. I think there's been uh 16 new cast members

[01:45:44] Announced I think I only even mentioned ace on our documentary or seven on our document here

[01:45:49] But one of the things that we just need to mention

[01:45:51] For the rings of power fans one of the kind of sad changes that we're seeing is Joseph Wall who played who played adar

[01:45:57] In the first season of of rings of power is unfortunately at NOS continuing with the show and the show moving from

[01:46:03] New Zealand to the UK

[01:46:05] Seems to be the reason that he's chosen not to uh not to continue

[01:46:08] But we are getting Sam Hazeldeen who we've seen in the sandman

[01:46:12] This year and peaky blinders. He's stepping into the role of adar for season two adar a very good character in season one

[01:46:18] So it's a shame yeah, we are getting a switch but at least it's a very good character

[01:46:21] Yes, and all of those new cast members at least eight of them were rumored to be Gandalf

[01:46:28] Speaking of staying with fantasy

[01:46:30] We do have we live time season two

[01:46:32] No official date confirmed

[01:46:35] Expectation is towards kind of the middle to end even though filming has finished

[01:46:40] um and we're hopefully we will get a

[01:46:44] trailer in the next couple of months at least in the first two months of the year

[01:46:50] I've heard much earlier than you for Chris. I've heard of the early part of this year um of 2023

[01:46:56] That we're going to be getting

[01:46:59] The release of of the stars of wheel of time

[01:47:02] Oh, yeah, and this is a mix of books

[01:47:08] Two and three yes. Yes

[01:47:11] Yeah, um and apparently also set up the the season three which as of

[01:47:18] I believe it was Jordan Khan which last year which is a wheel of time kind of fan convention

[01:47:24] Um, it has been alluded to by showrunner great duckins that their season three has already been greenish and that they're kind of

[01:47:32] already in well into pre-production

[01:47:35] um

[01:47:36] One thing I will note rave joking has

[01:47:39] taken on

[01:47:41] co-showrunner work with the writers of uh the original ironman

[01:47:47] Um for god of war another video game PlayStation video game franchise

[01:47:52] Going to amazon and that is god of war. It's uh

[01:47:56] The

[01:47:57] I can't I don't even get into it. It's huge but think north mythology

[01:48:01] But amazing amazing video games

[01:48:04] Uh two of them just finished up with that god of war ragnarok on PlayStation 4 and 5

[01:48:09] Um, but he is taking up co-showrunning

[01:48:12] But he said he will stay on for showrunning of wheel of time season three absolutely absolutely

[01:48:18] Lots of people do multiple shows so i'm sure he's able to do that

[01:48:21] uh yeah, but excited to sit excited to travel back to the world and in wheel of time as well

[01:48:26] Um Witcher season three the final season starring Henry Cavill is also

[01:48:30] uh rumored to be coming out towards the end of uh of 2023 as well

[01:48:34] So we we expect we'll be back at the continent for that

[01:48:38] Yes, and much like doctor who we will get a regeneration

[01:48:42] He will explode into light and a new

[01:48:46] Witcher will be born in Geralt's place

[01:48:49] Yes, interesting turns out that the witcher is actually a

[01:48:54] Doctor who doctor

[01:48:56] Yeah, never know think crazy what takes a lot to see uh Liam hamster's

[01:49:01] Yes, I was trying to remember. I know there's um another's uh about five hamster with son

[01:49:06] I was trying to remember is uh all of them are jacked

[01:49:12] Just you throw you throw a stone you're gonna hit a jacked

[01:49:16] Handsworth and he will make it

[01:49:18] A a sufficient

[01:49:20] Uh Witcher absolutely absolutely we've already mentioned earlier on the fourth and final season of umbrella academy

[01:49:24] Possibly coming back next year, but a filming only starts in February of 2023

[01:49:29] So um so likely that we will see the final season of umbrella academy until 2024

[01:49:34] The six episodes as confirmed by um by showrunner Steve blackman

[01:49:38] But i'm one of the bigger shows that we talk about um the spin-off the first live action spin-off of the boys gen v is coming out

[01:49:47] Next year for a trailer released for that

[01:49:49] Uh, a couple of weeks ago looks bloody and crazy at once again. Yes

[01:49:53] Still can't really work out there's a puppet in it

[01:49:56] Which starts off getting its head taken off and then looks like its entrails are coming out to drag people and kill them

[01:50:02] I'm not really too sure it's a very short trailer but it looks mental. I'm sure it's going to be

[01:50:07] The boys season four is again likely to be moving out to 2024

[01:50:13] They usually alternate the years and the boys and they're once every once every two years is when the series comes out

[01:50:17] But it's some interesting casting announcements though

[01:50:20] We will be seeing Huey's mom appear on the show

[01:50:23] Simon Pegg has also been confirmed to return for the next season so as Huey's dad

[01:50:28] So that's that's gonna be quite interesting um to see them back

[01:50:31] If they are going where we think they are going

[01:50:34] In terms which who knows at this point

[01:50:37] It's gonna be a fun. It's gonna it's some of the takes on what we

[01:50:42] Assume happens after hero guys I mean he's in the comic books

[01:50:46] If they if they follow some of those directions it is going to be good

[01:50:50] But where we left homeland or and Ryan

[01:50:53] um in season three

[01:50:56] Oh

[01:50:58] Air Crypti is gonna give us some very interesting social commentary

[01:51:03] Who knows absolutely absolutely and another massive announcement

[01:51:06] It wouldn't be a new season of the boys with a certain announcement of a member of the cast of supernatural

[01:51:11] Joining the crew

[01:51:12] Jeffrey de Morgan

[01:51:13] Most recently on on the walking dead buff and an old alumni of supernatural is joining the cast for season four of the boys

[01:51:22] So uh joining his son Dean

[01:51:25] When Sam win Chester joining what I know

[01:51:29] It will happen it will happen

[01:51:31] Uh Jeffrey de Morgan you may have known him from the walking dead

[01:51:35] Speaking of the walking dead we do have a connection

[01:51:40] somewhat in that invincible written by the the same

[01:51:45] writer

[01:51:46] From a comic book perspective I should say is

[01:51:49] Confirmed for two more seasons they

[01:51:52] Recently on the social media have kind of alluded to

[01:51:56] Yeah, got it actually

[01:51:58] Show us a trailer for season two at some point but they they just keep pushing the date

[01:52:03] I think it's actually just a joke now. I don't know what's going on

[01:52:07] But it's gonna be fun. It is a bloody adult animated show. Yeah, it's about a year and a half now since myself

[01:52:13] And you covered um invincible season one Chris

[01:52:16] So we were saying roughly two years with the animation cycles and they had the confirmation of season three

[01:52:21] So um and season two at the same time so it's possible that we'll get to see that yeah

[01:52:26] Yeah, I think it might be another somewhere. It might be a somewhere release

[01:52:28] I feel like hopefully a lot of the boys fans um will have

[01:52:33] Tuned into invincible because gets recommended quite a lot if you've if you'd like the boys to go and check out in

[01:52:38] Minciples, hopefully they're tuned in and we'll join us for for the second season of the

[01:52:43] Yeah, if you liked the Sandman last year as well

[01:52:46] And you missed out on our last Neil Gaiman project that we covered uh we will be back with another

[01:52:52] Stab as the angels and demons in good omens season two coming in summer

[01:52:58] 2023 Jalim herself will once again be hosting in conjunction with podcastica our coverage of

[01:53:04] At good omens really looking forward to seeing what Neil Gaiman has cooked definitely. Yeah, I love

[01:53:10] Good omens and season one was a hoot really really good. Yeah, it's a cannot wait for season two

[01:53:17] I mean we'll have to have a new cast degree soon

[01:53:19] What with um good omens and the Sandman as well as an antsy boy

[01:53:26] Will have to be the Neil Gaiman category. I mean even what if is supposedly having a 1602

[01:53:34] Flavor for one of its episodes as well, so yeah, we'll have a new category by the end of 2023

[01:53:42] I think we could we can do that we can definitely do that

[01:53:46] What's your favorite Neil Gaiman show? That's what I wasn't exciting question to have

[01:53:49] We've always had the what what's your favorite Neil Gaiman comic and everybody has a different answer for that

[01:53:53] But really excited to see what what prime video do with with an antsy boys

[01:53:57] My understanding is that the Lenny Henry's coming on board as a writer on the show

[01:54:01] Lenny Henry a really close friend of Neil Gaiman's

[01:54:04] And involved in the in the original creation of an antsy boys as a story as well

[01:54:08] So excited to see what he brings to the right incredible

[01:54:11] It's we've just been watching him and blood origins

[01:54:13] In his in a villainous role and we've seen him earlier on this year in a slightly more comedic role in rings of power

[01:54:19] So interested to see all the other facets of Lenny Henry coming to us next year

[01:54:24] Quickly, let's go through some of the some of the poll results from our from the polls on the shows that we're going to be covering next year

[01:54:30] For next year the show people are most excited about from Marvel is

[01:54:35] Secretivation the next-every show I promise I didn't vote a hundred times in the

[01:54:39] I promise but Loki season two come on me and pretty close behind that best returning show for TVPI for next year is good

[01:54:46] Oman season two most people very excited about that 45% of voters

[01:54:51] Followed by the wheeler time season two and then invincible season two. Yes, which is definitely I was not expecting but good on you

[01:54:58] You wheelers and you

[01:55:00] Invincibles absolutely Marvel movies for next year and most excited

[01:55:04] I think this actually goes in order if I've got it right it actually goes in order of release here

[01:55:11] Literally at man and the wasp

[01:55:14] Three which is quantum mania and then guidance galaxy volume three and about three percent in between the two of them

[01:55:19] And then it just goes down so I feel like this is probably just an order release

[01:55:23] For finally for the new shows coming to TVPI next year with Jen V the boys spin off and anti-boys

[01:55:30] And the last of us just added the last of us actually got slightly higher votes than an anti-boys

[01:55:36] But in an approach, you know 33% each really
